Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller went on an absolute tear during Thursday morning&#8217;s White House press briefing, reaffirming President Donald Trump&#8217;s commitment to ending &#8220;barbaric&#8221; child gender transitions — whether chemical or surgical — saying that they amounted to &#8220;child torture&#8221; and &#8220;medical malpractice.&#8221;
Miller began with the executive orders issued by President Trump early on — ending policies supported by former President Joe Biden and the Democrats that had allowed men to play women&#8217;s sports and change in their private locker rooms — and then pivoted to more recent moves aimed at ending all gender transition procedures for minors.

&#8220;This administration ended the Biden administration&#8217;s policy and the Democrat Party&#8217;s policy of allowing men into women&#8217;s sports, men into women&#8217;s spaces,&#8221; Miller began. &#8220;We are using every single legal and financial tool we have at President Trump&#8217;s direction to make it clear that schools and universities are and will lose federal funds, as you&#8217;ve seen in Maine, if you allow men to invade women&#8217;s sports and women&#8217;s spaces.&#8221;
Miller went on to say that the administration&#8217;s policies applied to every school in the K-12 system, adding, &#8220;The Department of Justice is also coordinating with state and local law enforcement to fight child abuse in our school system. It is child abuse to change a child&#8217;s gender, particularly if you do not inform the parents. In other words, if a five-year-old or a six-year-old goes to school, or a seven-year-old goes to school, and the teacher tries to turn the boy into a girl and a girl into a boy, that is child abuse, and this administration is treating that as child abuse. And it is a gross violation of parental rights.&#8221;
Miller then directed the message from the administration to hospital systems across the country, saying that they would not be able to funnel taxpayer dollars into gender transition programs.
&#8220;Castration surgeries, castration drugs, sterilization treatments of children are barbaric. They violate all sound medical ethics. They are completely unwarranted. They harm children for life — irreversibly,&#8221; Miller said. &#8220;It is child torture. It is child abuse. It is medical malpractice.&#8221;

Topline: Russia attacked Ukraine’s capital with a series of missiles and drones on Thursday, and <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/25/europe/russia-strikes-ukraine-trump-vladimir-intl-hnk/index.html">according</a> to CNN, inflicted another round of strikes on Friday. The surprise attacks have derailed United States-led ceasefire negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
Thursday’s attack on Kyiv left at least a dozen dead and dozens more wounded, and also killed what momentum there was toward a ceasefire. The following night, Moscow reportedly launched another round, killing at least eight more people. Before the attacks, the White House had sounded optimistic about a deal, but after Russia&#8217;s Thursday attacks, the President <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioT5YuxsrU8&amp;t=4m">appeared</a> much less sanguine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been willing to work with the United States on peace terms – more willing since his disastrous White House meeting in February. Since then, Zelensky has agreed to sign a minerals deal with the United States, and last month, he said Ukraine would agree to a full ceasefire to set up peace negotiations. But Moscow never bought in – all they could agree to was a 30 day pause on attacks against energy infrastructure.
Over the weekend, diplomats released a proposed peace deal constructed by the United States and Europe that recognized Russian control of Crimea and accepted Russia’s control of land in Ukraine’s east. It would also ban Ukraine from NATO membership and start the United States and Russia on a path of economic normalization – with all sanctions lifted from Russia. The proposal didn’t set limits on Ukraine’s military – something Moscow had wanted – and it included the minerals deal with the United States. Notably, it did not include any security guarantees from either the United States or Europe for Ukraine. Vice President JD Vance called it a “very fair proposal.”
Zelensky has already said that giving any occupied territory over to the Russians would be a red line. Zelensky has also taken issue with how the Trump administration has approached the negotiating table. “We would like to have this common understanding that Russia is the aggressor, not [Ukraine],&#8221; Zelensky told Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro in an interview this week.

Topline: The Supreme Court looks poised to rule in favor of religious parents who want the right to opt their kids out of LGBTQ material at school.
In 2022, Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland’s largest school district, introduced a new gender and sexuality curriculum. At first, they allowed parents to opt their kids out, but then, the school district decided it was too difficult to allow opt outs and made attendance mandatory. In response, a group of parents that included Muslims, Catholics, and a Ukrainian Orthodox Christian brought a case against the school district.
One of the books in the new curriculum is called “Prince and Knight,” about a prince who rejects princesses and falls in love with a knight. Another book is called “Born Ready” about a boy named Penelope, and another book tells the story of a girl attending her uncle’s same-sex wedding, and yet another book is called “Pride Puppy” about a puppy who gets lost during a Pride parade.
“They can keep the books,” one plaintiff said on the steps of the Supreme Court. “They can read it to their children if there are parents who feel this is appropriate for their 3-year-old, 4-year-old and elementary kids, they can teach it to them, but we don’t think it’s right. We don’t want it read to our kids.”
The more conservative justices seemed highly skeptical of the school district’s arguments. Justice Brett Kavanaugh quizzed the lawyer for the school superintendent about why it’s supposedly too hard to let parents opt out their children from reading LGBTQ books in class. “The plaintiffs here are not asking the school to change its curriculum. They’re just saying look, we want out. Why isn’t that feasible?”
Even some of the usual critics seemed sympathetic to parents in this case. Teachers union boss Randi Weingarten of the ​​American Federation of Teachers admitted she would not actually recommend these books to elementary schoolers, although she still called for “inclusivity.”

Topline: Country music star and entrepreneur John Rich has teamed up with the Department of Homeland Security to warn Americans about the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dozens-of-teen-boys-take-their-own-lives-as-online-sextortion-cases-spike">dangers of child sexual extortion</a>.
The Department of Homeland Security has a campaign called “Know2Protect” – you can find that on the DHS website. Its goal is to raise national public awareness about a rapidly growing crime called sexual extortion – also known as sextortion. Sextortion is when a predator coerces or tricks a minor into sending them sexually explicit images or video footage, and then threatens to release that material unless the minor either produces additional explicit content or gives them money. A Daily Wire investigation covered this topic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dozens-of-teen-boys-take-their-own-lives-as-online-sextortion-cases-spike">in-depth</a> earlier this month, but in summary, there were 36 million reports of suspected online child exploitation in 2023 alone.
John Rich is amplifying DHS’ awareness effort. The country star heard about sextortion a few months ago, after his wife and 15-year-old son attended a related talk from DHI Special Agent Dennis Fetting. Immediately, Rich reached out to DHS with ideas to get out something more accessible to the public. This week, Rich, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and Agent Fetting hosted a livestream event on sextortion. It was <a href="https://x.com/johnrich/status/1915190100058923202">reposted</a> online by President Trump, and so far, it has racked up millions of views.
“I&#8217;m fully aware of the dangers that are out there for our kids right now,” Rich said. “They are being targeted on apps, video games, social media – places you would never dream of, like innocent sounding games like Roblox, Minecraft, things like that, where predators are acting like they&#8217;re another kid and they&#8217;re creating a relationship with your kid, and then they lower the boom, then they start to extort and extort. They do everything from force the kids to send nude pictures of themselves, to take pictures of their parents&#8217; credit cards front and back so they can extort money. They threaten them with killing their family, burning their house down, posting the pictures all online. It results in kids, some of them becoming suicidal – it’s a major, major problem. So to me, millions of parents needed to hear about this.”

New Jersey on Thursday became the first state to sue gaming platform Discord, alleging the company failed to protect children from online predators despite marketing itself as a &#8220;fun and safe space for teens.&#8221;
The civil suit, <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/25900134-2025-0417-discord-complaint/">filed</a> by New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, alleges that Discord violated the state&#8217;s Consumer Fraud Act by failing to protect minors, according to a report by NBC News.
Discord is a popular messaging platform used by millions to chat via text, voice, and video. It is especially popular among young gamers, who use the platform to converse while playing games like Roblox and Minecraft, both of which are heavily used by children.
The gaming chat platform officially <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/nj-attorney-general-sues-discord-messaging-app-child-predator-concerns-rcna201762">bans</a> users under 13 and claims a zero-tolerance policy toward those who exploit minors, per NBC News.
&#8220;They&#8217;ve waged a very extensive PR campaign to tell the public all the features that they put in place to protect kids on their app,&#8221; Platkin said. &#8220;They know that they&#8217;re not working, and they know that they&#8217;re not actually protecting kids the way they say they are.&#8221;
Discord defended its safety measures, saying the company is &#8220;proud&#8221; of its &#8220;continuous efforts and investments in features and tools that help make Discord safer.&#8221;
A spokesperson added that the platform disputes the claims in the lawsuit and looks &#8220;forward to defending the action in court.&#8221;
According to Platkin, children under 13 can create accounts by simply checking a box claiming they are older.
The platform&#8217;s &#8220;Sensitive Media&#8221; filter, designed to blur explicit material, often doesn&#8217;t work and is &#8220;very easy to evade.&#8221;
A 2023 NBC News investigation <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-media/discord-child-safety-social-platform-challenges-rcna89769">uncovered</a> 35 cases where adults were prosecuted for kidnapping, grooming, or sexual assault allegedly involving Discord communications, plus more than 100 additional cases of child sexual abuse material.
Following heavy public scrutiny, Discord made several policy updates, including banning teen dating and artificial intelligence-generated child sexual abuse material on the service.
The company&#8217;s CEO, Jason Citron, called reports of exploitation on the platform &#8220;horrifying&#8221; at the time.
In January, Citron was among several tech executives called to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about child safety policies alongside leaders from Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, and X.
The New Jersey lawsuit is seeking civil penalties, restitution for affected users, and court-mandated changes to Discord&#8217;s policies and features to better protect minors on the platform.

Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed a law on Tuesday that will increase protections for the children of online content creators. This move was inspired by the child abuse conviction of Ruby Franke, a popular YouTube personality who was found guilty of severely abusing her children.
The new law says that online creators who make more than $150,000 a year from content featuring children will be required to set aside 15% of those earnings into a trust fund that the kids can then access when they turn 18. This will also be the rule for parents of child actors appearing in TV or film projects, per the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ruby-franke-child-influencer-protections-utah-d9702b22c9ea7adba6e15003971493ce#">Associated Press</a>.
“Children cannot give informed consent to be filmed on social media, period,” Ruby’s ex-husband Kevin Franke said. “Vlogging my family, putting my children into public social media, was wrong, and I regret it every day.”
The Frankes became famous after starting the “8 Passengers” YouTube channel in 2015. The series followed their day-to-day lives as a Mormon family in Springville, Utah. The Franke children were included in the videos Ruby posted up to five times a week, the outlet noted. Their content became popular, attracting 2.5 million subscribers by 2020. 
In 2012, Ruby changed track and started creating parenting content with therapist Jodi Hildebrandt. At Hildebrandt’s insistence, Ruby became estranged from her husband and moved into the therapist’s home with her two youngest children. Viewers became increasingly alarmed by Ruby’s disciplinary suggestions.
The women were taken into custody on child abuse charges after Ruby Franke’s severely underweight 12-year-old son, Russell, climbed out of a window and ran to a neighbor for help. The neighbor called 911 after noticing that the teen’s ankles were wrapped in bloody duct tape. Responding officers discovered the youngest Franke child, 9-year-old Eve, with her head shaved and sitting cross-legged in a dark closet.
A search of the home uncovered handwritten journals where Ruby claimed that her son was possessed by the devil. In the journals, she detailed abuse including starvation and making her children work outside in the heat without protection or nourishment. 
Both Ruby and Hildebrandt received prison sentences of up to 30 years. The Hulu documentary “Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke” led to national attention.
The youngest Franke daughter, Eve, wrote a statement regarding the new law. “I’m not saying YouTube is a bad thing. Sometimes it brings us together,” she said. “But kids deserve to be loved, not used by the ones that are supposed to love them the most.”
The content creation industry is largely unregulated, AP noted, but several states have started adding protections. Illinois, California, and Minnesota all have laws that protect the earnings of young creators.

A famous &#8220;anti-racist&#8221; cartoonist who once drew Donald Trump molesting the Statue of Liberty has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, the Sacramento County Sheriff said Thursday.
The NAACP gave Darrin Bell its <a href="https://darrinbell.substack.com/p/ive-won-the-image-award-and-the-libby" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Image Award</a> last year for his comic book &#8220;The Talk,&#8221; about parents telling their children that they are victims of racism.
The <a href="https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article298639688.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sacramento Bee</a> said Bell, the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, made history as “the first Black cartoonist to have two nationally syndicated strips,” including Candorville, “which features three childhood friends of color and their daily lives in the inner city.”  Now he has made history again with his arrest for alleged possession of artificial intelligence-generated child abuse material, just days after a California law banning AI porn went into effect.

For years, the Washington Post Writers Group syndicated Bell&#8217;s cartoons in the Post and other papers. He also published cartoons in the New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. He won the <a href="https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/darrin-bell-freelancer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pulitzer Prize</a> in 2019 “For beautiful and daring editorial cartoons that took on issues affecting disenfranchised communities, calling out lies, hypocrisy and fraud in the political turmoil surrounding the Trump administration.”
Bell said that respect for human dignity is the “common thread I try to weave through every cartoon that I draw — whether it&#8217;s about police brutality or immigrants being separated from their children, or whether it&#8217;s about Donald Trump,&#8221; <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/won-pulitzer-prize-editorial-cartoons-promoting-human-dignity/story?id=62466906" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC</a> reported after he won the prize. One of his cartoons showed Trump attempting to molest the Statue of Liberty.
The sheriff said in a <a href="https://x.com/sacsheriff/status/1879899320616710372">statement</a> that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped it off that a resident had uploaded 18 files containing Child Sex Abuse Material to an online service. Sacramento Valley Internet Crimes Against Children detectives soon found 134 child abuse videos linked to the same account, which they said was owned by Darrin Bell. On Wednesday, they served a search warrant at Bell&#8217;s house. He is currently being held in jail on $1 million bail, they said.
Detectives said some material they recovered was “computer-generated/AI CSAM,” making him “the first arrest by Sacramento Valley ICAC where possession of computer-generated/AI CSAM was charged against a suspect (the law changed on January 1, 2025, to include AI-generated material as a criminal offense.”
On his blog, Bell describes his work as “Progressive anti-fascist, anti-racist political cartoons.” The most recent cartoon posted portrays Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg saying “We’re gonna get rid of a bunch of restrictions on  attacking whichever minorities MAGA considers ‘undesirable.’” He wrote beneath it: &#8220;When Elon Musk bought Twitter a couple years ago, he reinstated NAZIS, throttled anyone to the left of Attila the Hun, and his algorithm filled our timelines with a rogues gallery of alt right types, incels, Q-Anon cultists, and paid Russian dupes.&#8221;

Erin Strotman, 26, has been charged with felony child neglect and felony malicious wounding over injuries to one baby at Henrico Doctors&#8217; Hospital in Richmond, police announced Friday.
The maximum penalties for the two charges are 10 and 20 years in prison respectively, although authorities emphasized that they are still investigating the injuries to the other babies.
Three babies were hurt just weeks ago in November and December, and four more babies were previously injured during the summer of 2023.
The Henrico County Police Division <a href="https://www.wsls.com/news/local/2025/01/03/henrico-doctor-arrested-and-charged-in-connection-with-nicu-investigation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> it is conducting a &#8220;thorough investigation&#8221; that includes reviewing &#8220;dozens of videos from inside the NICU.&#8221; Detectives are looking into the cases from both 2023 and 2024 as part of this &#8220;broader investigation,&#8221; police said.
Last month, a couple spoke out, <a href="https://www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/henrico-doctors-investigation-2023-dec-27-2024?ref=henricocitizen.com#google_vignette" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> Virginia Child Services informed them that one of their premature newborn twins, who had suffered a fractured leg, had been physically abused by a NICU employee.
“It’s my baby boy. I feel like I’ve done nothing to protect him and that hurts. It pisses me off,” Dominique Hackey, the twins&#8217; father, <a href="https://www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/henrico-doctors-investigation-2023-dec-27-2024?ref=henricocitizen.com#google_vignette" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> CBS 6 before Strotman&#8217;s arrest.
“Somebody needs to be held accountable for my son, for everybody’s kid, somebody needs to be held accountable, it’s too many in such a short period of time,” he said.
The injuries forced the hospital to stop admitting newborns to its NICU &#8220;out of an abundance of caution,&#8221; Henrico Doctors&#8217; Hospital <a href="https://people.com/woman-arrested-multiple-babies-suffer-unexplainable-fractures-same-virginia-hospital-8768674" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> on Christmas Eve.
&#8220;While fractures occasionally happen with pre-term babies since they lack full fetal bone development, we are actively working to determine how these fractures occurred,&#8221; the hospital <a href="https://www.wric.com/news/local-news/henrico-county/henrico-doctors-hospital-stops-nicu-admissions-after-babies-found-with-unexplainable-fractures/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
On Friday, the hospital also confirmed a &#8220;former employee&#8221; has been arrested in connection with the NICU fractures.
&#8220;We are both shocked and saddened by this development in the investigation and are focused on continuing to care for our patients and providing support to our colleagues who have been deeply and personally impacted by this investigation,&#8221; Henrico Doctors&#8217; Hospital <a href="https://www.hcavirginia.com/locations/henrico-doctors-hospital/specialties/womens-care/labor-and-delivery#nicu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement.
&#8220;We are grateful to those colleagues, who have dedicated their professional lives to the care and safety of our patients, as well as to law enforcement and the other agencies who have worked aggressively and tirelessly with us on this investigation,&#8221; the hospital said.
The case eerily echoes that of Lucy Letby, the British neonatal nurse convicted of murdering seven babies around 2016. No deaths have been reported in the Virginia case, however.
She <a href="https://www.wric.com/news/local-news/henrico-county/former-nurse-makes-first-court-appearance-after-being-charged-with-child-abuse-in-henrico-doctors-hospitals-nicu-investigation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared</a> in court for the first time on Friday and is being held without bond and barred from contact with children. She is expected in court again on March 24.

A doctor was indicted by federal authorities this month for an alleged massive child porn ring, almost exactly three years after The Daily Wire exposed how high schools across the country were referring students to an apparent pervert who offered a “scholarship” and “grooming.”
Philip Taylor Sobash was arrested last Friday in Austin, Texas, according to an <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.tnmd.102213/gov.uscourts.tnmd.102213.3.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indictment</a> unsealed by the Middle District of Tennessee federal court December 13. The FBI concluded this year that Sobash was a notorious child pornographer called “DiscreetGent,” who was responsible for a “collection of sexually explicit images and videos of about 70 young women and girls.”
The Daily Wire reported on December 15, 2021, that a large number of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-high-schools-steering-students-to-alleged-porn-producer-for-scholarship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">high schools were putting students directly in touch with Sobash,</a> despite his having been sued at least four times over his alleged sexual conduct and stripped of his medical license in Arkansas.
In October 2021, Sobash put out a press release saying he “decided to contribute to the next generation of doctors via an effective mentorship program,” that he wanted to “<a href="https://apnews.com/press-release/prcom/medical-schools-b7236c3bbf0a93a3b3803843f32edcd3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">groom</a> and encourage” students, and that “mentoring goes beyond what most medical students think about the medical field.” He also set up a website advertising a $1,000 “Dr. Philip Sobash Scholarship” to “give back to the future medical doctors of America.”
Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver, Washington, instructed high schoolers “with an interest in becoming a medical doctor” to email Sobash their full name, bio, phone number, and address for a chance at $1,000. A sampling of the many other high schools promoting the scholarship include Pearl River High School in New York, the North Ridgeville City Schools in Ohio, the Prairie du Chien Area School District in Wisconsin,  the Starmont Community School District in Iowa, the Vinton County, Ohio schools, and Alfred Ely Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia.

At the time, red flags about Sobash were evident. His medical license was surrendered in Arkansas on October 7, 2021, and numerous lawsuits had been filed by women alleging that he exploited them into producing sexual material after luring them with promises of money, then sold it online without their consent. The Daily Wire described four lawsuits that were dropped after apparent cash settlements.
When Sobash practiced at the White River Health System in Batesville, Arkansas and the hospital posted about him online in 2020, numerous women took to the comments section to say he was a predator. One girl from Tennessee wrote that “he tried to fly me out to have sex with him at 16! had to get fbi involved bc he posted nude pics &amp; vids of me at 15!! bc i wouldn’t go see him. not to mention, with ALL my personal info. i’m 20 now &amp; still receive death threats, he’s ruined my life forever.”
That may have been the case that triggered federal charges. Prosecutors said between October 2018 and May 2019, while Sobash lived in Austin, he met a minor from Tennessee on a website that connects women with “sugar daddies.” She told him she was a minor and sent a photo of her driver&#8217;s license, <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/texas-man-indicted-child-sexual-exploitation-charges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prosecutors said</a>. Sobash allegedly sent her thousands of dollars and requested that she send him sexually explicit images of herself. She sent hundreds of such images, and although Sobash promised they would be private, he distributed them online; they were sold online with her first and last name, which led to others contacting her and attempting to blackmail her into producing more child sexual abuse material, they alleged.
Sobash is <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.tnmd.102213/gov.uscourts.tnmd.102213.3.1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> with sexual exploitation of a minor, coercion and enticement of a minor, and receipt of child pornography, facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years on the first charge, 10 years on the second, and five years on the third, in addition to a maximum $750,000 fine.
The <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/victim-services/seeking-victim-information/seeking-victim-information-in-philip-sobash-discreet-gent-investigation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI has asked</a> other victims of Sobash to come forward. “The FBI believes he primarily targeted females between the ages of 15 and 25 from January 2014 through his arrest in December 2024” and that “Numerous victims have reported that after sending sexually explicit images to Sobash, they would be threatened and coerced into producing more imagery,” it said. “The FBI has found dozens of victims&#8217; sexually explicit images for sale online. Sobash used various monikers online, including DiscreetGent, Discreet Gentleman, Discreet Spoiling, Sugar Daddy, Interesting Fun, Honest and Fun, and Excited Guy.”
“Numerous victims have settled civil lawsuits against Sobash and may be bound by non-disclosure agreements. Such agreements are likely unenforceable if designed to prevent victims from reporting crimes to law enforcement,” it said.
Some of the schools did not respond promptly when The Daily Wire notified them in 2021 that they were putting high schoolers in touch with an alleged abuser. Craig Daughtry, the principal of Alfred Ely Beach High School, and Kurt Hetager, communications director for the Savannah-Chatham County (Georgia) Public School System, did not respond to an email whose subject line was “Urgent media request – school website directing students to contact alleged pornographer,” and the school was still advertising the scholarship when the story ran.

A 26-year-old Haitian man who was allowed into the U.S. under the Biden administration’s controversial migrant parole program has been captured after he was accused of raping a teen girl and released on bail – an allegation his attorney says is false.
Cory Alvarez was captured Tuesday morning by Boston Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after he had been released on bail in June, Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported.

Alvarez <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/haitian-migrant-who-entered-u-s-under-biden-parole-program-charged-with-rape-of-teenage-girl-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was charged</a> in March with the rape of a 15-year-old girl at a Massachusetts hotel being used as a migrant shelter. In July, he was released on $500 bail even though ICE had requested he be transferred into its custody, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/migrant-accused-raping-teen-released-500-bail-despite-ice-calls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
It all began on March 13, when police received a report of a sexual assault at a hotel in Rockland, Massachusetts, being used to house migrant families, Boston 25 <a href="https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/man-living-rockland-hotel-housing-migrants-charged-with-child-rape-da-says/VXO4QFDEGFDDLN5E3Y5PWDL3FE/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The alleged teenage victim is also a Haitian migrant and told police through an interpreter that she went to Alvarez’s room so he could help her with a tablet, but he forced himself on her.
“I asked him to leave me alone, but he didn’t stop,” the girl told authorities.
Alvarez’s attorney suggested the allegations against his client were false, citing surveillance footage.
&#8220;No injuries were found on the alleged victim. The video surveillance depicts her going into the room and coming out eight minutes later, her clothing undisturbed and walking by two members of the National Guard without comment,&#8221; attorney Brian A. Kelley told Fox.

Alvarez was initially held without bail, but in late June, he was released on $500 bail. ICE said in a statement at the time that Boston’s branch of Enforcement and Removal Operations had filed a retainer on Alvarez, meaning they believed he was subject to deportation. Fox reported that the detainer was ignored since Alvarez was in a “sanctuary” jurisdiction.
Prosecutors had asked for $25,000 bail, but a judge set the bail at $500 with stipulations that Alvarez confine himself to his home and submit to monitoring.
Alvarez <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/haitian-migrant-charged-rape-15-year-old-girl-entered-controversial-parole-program-sources" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> flew to New York&#8217;s John F. Kennedy International Airport in June 2023 after being sponsored by a person in New Jersey as part of President Joe Biden’s parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV). This program has allowed up to 30,000 migrants to fly into the U.S. each month. The Biden administration’s use of this program has allowed more than one million migrants to enter the U.S., with more than 138,000 Haitians alone.

Migrant children held in the United States after crossing the border illegally were subject to “pervasive” sexual abuse at the hands of federal contractors, the Department of Justice said Wednesday.
The department filed a lawsuit against Southwest Key Programs, which operates homes for underage illegal immigrants awaiting placement with &#8220;sponsors&#8221; in the United States. Federal law bars minors who cross the border illegally from being returned to their home country. Southwest Key holds more than 6,000 children in 29 shelters staffed by “youth care workers.&#8221;
The <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.txwd.1172796454/gov.uscourts.txwd.1172796454.1.0.pdf">lawsuit</a> says Southwest Key records show staff members repeatedly covered for each other as they preyed on children.
“A Southwest Key Youth Care Worker who in 2022 repeatedly sexually abused a five-year-old girl, an eight-year-old girl, and an eleven-year-old girl at Casa Franklin in El Paso, Texas,&#8221; the lawsuit says. &#8220;The eight-year-old girl disclosed that the Youth Care Worker repeatedly entered their bedrooms in the middle of the night to touch their ‘private area,’ and he threatened to kill their families if they disclosed the abuse.&#8221;
Southwest Key has received $4 billion by the federal government since 2019. Payments have grown as illegal border crossings increased, rising from $391 million in 2020 to nearly <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/search/?hash=00eb96827b8582b5f6a60b813959ba24">$1 billion</a> thus far in fiscal year 2024, according to federal spending data.
The lawsuit comes amid revelations that unaccompanied minors who come to the United States are frequently subject to unsafe conditions. Federal employees told Congress this month that migrant children are first turned over to contractors with limited training, and then sent to live with unvetted sponsors. Deborah White, an HHS whistleblower, recalled the &#8220;horrifying&#8221; realization that &#8220;children were being trafficked with billions of taxpayer dollars by a contractor failing to vet sponsors and process children safely, with government officials complicit in it.”
White <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/whistleblowers-detail-how-85000-unaccompanied-minors-went-missing-after-biden-admin-dropped-them-off-with-sponsors">described</a> the process as &#8220;taxpayer-funded slavery and child trafficking.&#8221;
The lawsuit describes &#8220;over one hundred Reports of unlawful sexual abuse or harassment of children in Southwest Key’s care since at least 2015.
&#8220;These instances are examples of Southwest Key’s longstanding pattern or practice of illegal sexual abuse, harassment, and misconduct against children in Southwest Key’s care. Southwest Key failed to consistently correct its practices and permitted the harassment to continue without adequate intervention,&#8221; the suit reads.
In one case, a teenage girl at Casa Kokopelli in Mesa, Arizona told a “clinician” that she missed her mother, and “the clinician turned the conversation to sex,&#8221; and said in a discussion with another teenage girl that he “can be more than your clinician if you would allow me to,” the suit said.
“Another 2019 Southwest Key Report details how, at Casa Rio Grande in San Benito, Texas, a child reported a male Youth Care Worker told him he liked dating ‘transexuals, transgenero, personas gay,’ translated to ‘transexuals, transgender, gay individuals.’&#8221;
&#8220;The Youth Care Worker asked the child if he dressed as a woman and went to work at night; while asking this, the Youth Care Worker caressed his own groin. After the child complained, Southwest Key transferred the child to a shelter in another state. Southwest Key ultimately reinstated the Youth Care Worker,” the lawsuit alleges.
In 2022 at Casa Norma Linda in Los Fresnos, Texas, two employees helped a third conduct and conceal a relationship with a 16-year old unaccompanied minor. In 2023 at Casa Las Palmas in Mesa, Arizona, a minor reported that a Youth Care Worker allegedly said he wanted to “give it to her hard” and asked, “How are the women of Venezuela?”
The same year, a boy said that a female Shift Leader &#8220;touched the child while he was in a shower, and verbally harassed him, ‘constantly’ telling him that she wanted him to stay in the shelter and &#8216;have children with her,” the suit said. Despite Southwest Key’s internal investigation finding that the employee committed misconduct, she “continued employment with Southwest Key.”
There was also a Shift Leader who in 2019 allegedly &#8220;repeatedly raped, abused, and threatened a teenage girl throughout her shelter stay at Casa Montezuma in Channelview, Texas.&#8221; The girl said other employees covered for him by changing shifts with him so he could target her.
The Justice Department alleges Southwest Key staff exploited the children’s illegal status and lack of parents to threaten them into silence. “A Southwest Key employee at Casa Franklin in El Paso, Texas, threatened an eight-year-old female child that if she reported his abuse to anyone, he would ‘kill her family.'&#8221;
“A Southwest Key manager at Casa Montezuma in Channelview, Texas, threatened the female child he was harassing that if she reported the sexual abuse, she would be hospitalized. A Southwest Key employee at Casa Nueva Esperanza in Brownsville, Texas, discouraged a child from pursuing a report of harassment by telling the child it would delay her reunification with her family or adversely affect her placement with a sponsor,” it added.
When a child reported sexual abuse by staff and was covered by hickeys, the employee she reported it to told her to “cover up” the hickeys and did not report it to anyone. The child reported it to a second employee, who notified a supervisor who allegedly ordered that employee not to write a report. That employee tried to report it directly to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement, which oversees the unaccompanied minors.
Southwest Key, which has received billions from ORR, claimed it did not have a phone number for the office.
Anais Biera Miracle, the contractor’s communications officer, told The Daily Wire in a statement that the suit “does not present the accurate picture of the care and commitment our employees provide to the youth and children.&#8221;
&#8220;We are in constant communication and continue to closely partner with the Office of Refugee Resettlement,&#8221; Miracle said.
The Justice Department&#8217;s suit asks for monetary damages “to each person aggrieved by Southwest Key’s discriminatory conduct,” as well as “civil penalties against Southwest Key to vindicate the public interest.”
The Biden administration has relaxed the vetting of unaccompanied migrant “sponsors,” removing DNA testing and, in many cases, FBI background checks. In some cases, the Department of Health and Human Services knowingly sent children to live with gang members. A third of unaccompanied migrants—some 85,000 children—are currently missing.
White, the HHS whistleblower, says she faced blowback when she attempted to check on a migrant child.
“When I checked on a child’s welfare at another facility I was told, ‘Do not do that again. Once these children leave here…they’re gone and they are no longer your responsibility.’”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/american-airlines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">American Airlines</a> is backing away from its court filing blaming a nine-year-old girl for not noticing the hidden camera a flight attendant allegedly planted in the aircraft&#8217;s bathroom.
A former American flight attendant is accused of taping his iPhone to the toilet seat and then luring young girls to use the airplane bathroom.
Attorneys for the airline initially blamed the child, saying in a court filing that any injuries the girl suffered were due to her “own fault and negligence, were proximately caused by [her] use of the compromised lavatory, which she knew or should have known contained a visible and illuminated recording device.”
On Thursday, however, the airline distanced itself from that accusation.
An American Airlines spokesperson <a href="https://apnews.com/article/american-airlines-blames-girl-hidden-camera-4b474bf3d8c8803872dbb7e12032d13e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that external attorneys working for the airline had “made an error in this filing.”
“Our outside legal counsel retained with our insurance company made an error in this filing. The included defense is not representative of our airline and we have directed it be amended this morning,&#8221; the spokesperson said. &#8220;We do not believe this child is at fault and we take the allegations involving a former team member very seriously. Our core mission is to care for people — and the foundation of that is the safety and security of our customers and team.”
The 9-year-old’s family sued American Airlines after the FBI informed them that videos of their daughter were found on the former flight attendant&#8217;s phone. The family had flown from Texas to California last year.
The fired flight attendant, Estes Carter Thompson III, 36, pled not guilty this week to charges of attempted sexual exploitation of children and possession of images of child sexual abuse.

Thomas is accused of having recordings of four girls, including the nine-year-old, using bathrooms on flights. He is also accused of trying to secretly record a video of a 14-year-old girl using the bathroom on a flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston.
He was arrested in January and has remained in federal custody since then.
The court filing was amended on Wednesday. The new filing does not include the accusation that the girl&#8217;s injuries were her own fault. The case is making its way through a state district court in Austin.
On Tuesday, an attorney representing the 9-year-old, as well as the 14-year-old, excoriated the airline&#8217;s defense.
“To blame a 9 year old for being filmed while using the airplane bathroom is both shocking and outrageous,” attorney Paul Llewellyn <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/4678026-american-airlines-says-filing-blaming-9-year-old-in-bathroom-recording-case-was-an-error/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
“In my opinion this is a depraved legal strategy that sinks to a new low. American Airlines should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves,” he added.
The 9-year-old’s mother <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/4678026-american-airlines-says-filing-blaming-9-year-old-in-bathroom-recording-case-was-an-error/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement through her attorney, “How in good conscience could they even make such a suggestion?”
Thompson is due in federal court in Boston on July 1.

A Wyoming woman who claimed a 5-year-old girl she was babysitting died after falling down the stairs has been convicted of the child’s murder.
Cheri Marler, 53, was convicted of first-degree murder and child abuse on May 10, the Cowboy State Daily <a href="https://cowboystatedaily.com/2024/05/10/kemmerer-babysitter-guilty-of-beating-5-year-old-girl-to-death/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The jury took less than 5 hours to return the guilty verdict.
“There isn’t a winner or loser today. Families lives have been changed forever on both sides,” Kemmerer City Police Chief Michael Kahre told the outlet after the verdict was read. “The justice system worked like it is supposed to. I would be lying if I said I was not pleased with today’s verdict. Unfortunately nothing will bring Annabelle back. She is gone. Today’s verdict however brings us justice for her. I am grateful to everyone who did their part to make this trial a success.”
Marler had been babysitting 5-year-old Annabelle Noles and her sister for several weeks when, on November 25, 2022, she called 911 around 3:40 p.m. and reported an unresponsive child, the Star Valley Independent <a href="https://svinews.com/jury-finds-marler-guilty-of-murder-and-child-abuse/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0AedDD7qG9O1zxZZ3aPBSYTk8ibN3akcwqaKeYi1cWL0tAkKfp_mkceIo_aem_AaiA-dHoqS4AzXLam4P8UzYz7igINgpaskEiIBGwg1dlmOO5HvbgiRzlak9bOaqACqWtIcl9bQU9vDApv_EN2Wvo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. First responders arrived and provided life-saving measures for the girl before she was taken to a local hospital, where she died the next morning as a result of her injuries.
Marler was arrested shortly after Noles died, and told the Kemmerer, Wyoming, police chief that she had slapped and hit the young girl up to 10 times by “clapping” her hands on either side of the girl’s head, the State Daily <a href="https://cowboystatedaily.com/2023/08/23/kemmerer-babysitters-child-murder-trial-delayed-for-surgeries-health-care/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> after reviewing an affidavit in the case. Marler explained to the police chief how she clapped her hands with Noles’ “head in the middle.”
After the attack, Marler said Noles went to lie down, and the babysitter found her unconscious.
Marler also admitted to police that she had beaten Noles with kitchen utensils the day before the clapping attack.
“Eventually, she succumbed to these fatal injuries. Her deep brain injury was a result of blunt force trauma, not just contact injuries,” Dr. Ruiz-Maldonado testified at Marler’s trial, the Uinta County Herald <a href="https://www.uintacountyherald.com/stories/kemmerer-babysitter-found-guilty-of-murder,31461" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Marler denied harming Noles when she took the stand in her own defense.
In its closing arguments, the defense argued that it had not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Marler had caused the death of Noles. The defense stuck to the claim that the girl had fallen down the stairs, with those injuries causing her death. Noles had a broken back, bleeding in the brain, and had cuts and bruises from new and previous injuries, a doctor testified at her trial.
The defense argued that Noles’ mother was the possible cause of the abuse, as she had a history of drug abuse and had multiple drug charges.
Ultimately, the jury sided with prosecutors and found Marler guilty. She faces up to life in prison without parole or even the death penalty, along with up to 10 years in prison for the child abuse charge. Her sentencing date has not been set.

Liberal comedian Bill Maher praised Florida Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a> this week for taking the fight to Disney over their sexualization of children.
Maher, host of HBO&#8217;s &#8220;Real Time with Bill Maher,&#8221; made the remarks during his &#8220;new rule&#8221; segment on his show on Friday, which was about Hollywood&#8217;s sexualization of children.
&#8220;Have you all been watching the Max documentary called &#8216;Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV&#8217;? OMG. Nickelodeon, it wasn&#8217;t a studio, it was Neverland Ranch with Kraft services,&#8221; Maher said. &#8220;It is just scene after scene, clip after clip, of the child stars of their day being subjected to obviously inappropriate highly sexualized degradation, and quite a few pickles going through glory holes.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know if this documentary is the talk of your town, but it is out here because it didn&#8217;t just expose a dangerous workplace, it also exposed hypocrisy because it must be pointed out that when the evil governor of Florida was saying the exact same thing about kids and creepy stuff at Disney — that liberals now find intolerable at Nickelodeon — he was dismissed as a hick and a bigot,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;But why would a kids content factory like Disney be all that different than the one at Nickelodeon? A 2014 CNN report discovered that at least 35 Disney employees had been arrested for sex crimes against children.&#8221;
&#8220;You know, Willie Sutton said he robbed banks because that&#8217;s where the money is. And the reason we find pedophiles in the Boy Scouts and the rectory and kids TV is that&#8217;s where the kids are,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;DeSantis wasn&#8217;t wrong, but we&#8217;re so tribal now, the Left will overlook child f***ing if the guy from the wrong party calls it out. Maher mocked leftists who say that &#8220;this is wrong and this is bad and exposing kids to an adult world of lurid costumes and garish makeup borders on abuse&#8221; yet they take their kids to drag queen story hour.
&#8220;Sure kids love a clown, but does the clown have to have t**s?&#8221; Maher asked. &#8220;And when I see a 5-year-old tipping — tipping — at a bar under a sign that says, &#8216;It&#8217;s Not Going To Lick Itself,&#8217; do I have to pretend that&#8217;s cool in order to keep my liberal ID card? Sorry, I can&#8217;t do that.&#8221;
He said that progressives were wrong, they&#8217;re not &#8220;adults wise beyond their years, they&#8217;re morons.&#8221;
&#8220;They&#8217;re gullible morons who&#8217;ll believe anything and just want to please grown ups,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And they don&#8217;t have any frame of reference, so they normalize whatever is happening. That&#8217;s why endlessly talking about gender to six year olds isn&#8217;t just inappropriate, it&#8217;s what the law would call entrapment, which means enticing people into doing something they wouldn&#8217;t ordinarily do.&#8221;
