World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/chess/magnus-carlsen-horrible-vladimir-kramnik-daniel-naroditsky-death-10319480/?utm">described</a> the treatment of Naroditsky as “horrible,” placing direct blame on Kramnik’s behavior. “When he started going after Naroditsky so hard — first of all, I don’t think anybody thought Naroditsky was cheating,” Carlsen said. “The way he was going after him was horrible. Seeing how it affected him&#8230; it was apparent now.”

“Probably should have done that publicly as well. It’s a great loss. It’s very sad for all of us that somebody who was such a resource to the chess community&#8230; was led to the place that he was.” Carlsen reflected on his early support for Kramnik’s anti-cheating campaign, saying, “At the start, I didn’t agree with his numbers, but I thought he was kind of fighting the good fight. But it turned on its head.”

Indian Grandmaster Nihal Sarin, who played Naroditsky in his final online games, <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/chess/nihal-sarin-interview-as-told-daniel-naroditsky-death-kramnik-10319542/lite/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">revealed</a> the emotional distress Naroditsky expressed in their last conversations. “He said he was under immense stress due to a lot of accusations, from Kramnik. I can imagine the pain he was going through and the toll on his mental health.”

Sarin noted that those close to him defended him when Kramnik accused him of cheating, making his experience much easier than Naroditsky’s. “Not as many people could be so vocal in supporting Naroditsky,” he said. Sarin believes the campaign of false accusations “literally took a life.”

He recalled their final games: “Our last few games felt very abnormal&#8230; It was like he was just freezing. I was worried&#8230; and then I did not see him online again. The next day, I heard the news.”

Nakamura and others have voiced outrage over Kramnik’s relentless online crusade, which, beginning in 2024, accused dozens of players of cheating, often based on flawed statistical analyses. Naroditsky, known for his honesty and transparency, was deeply affected.

In a December 2024 Twitch stream, Naroditsky acknowledged the campaign was breaking him down: “I don’t think I’m good. I don’t think I’m thick-skinned enough to say, honestly, that that hasn’t been affecting me at all. I’ve been nice and civil and courteous to this army of troglodyte lowlifes for way too long. I’m really sick of it.”

CEO Emil Sutovsky confirmed the organization is “looking into” the attacks against Naroditsky. British champion Jovana Houska welcomed the investigation, warning against “trial by social media.”

A world champion at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chess">chess</a> voluntarily disqualified himself on “principle” after being asked to comply with the competition’s dress code, but is now returning to the competition on Monday as the rules have been loosened.
Magnus Carlsen, 34, dropped out of the World Rapid and Blitz Championships in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york">New York</a> on Friday, December 27 after being fined $200 and asked to change out of his blue jeans. But now jeans are sometimes permitted.
International Chess Federation President Arkady Dvorkovich said in a statement on Sunday that he would now allow World Blitz Championship tournament officials to consider allowing “appropriate jeans” with a jacket, and other “elegant minor deviations” from the dress code, per <a href="https://apnews.com/article/world-rapid-chess-jeans-dress-code-b96b1ad1b8eafe69f914f7a8eccd9e0b">AP</a>.
Dvorkovich said the incident highlighted the need for the organization “to ensure that our rules and their application reflect the evolving nature of chess as a global and accessible sport.”
Carlsen, a Norwegian chess grandmaster, is a five-time World Rapid Chess Champion and the reigning seven-time World Blitz Chess Champion, People <a href="https://people.com/world-chess-champion-quits-competition-after-refusing-to-change-out-of-jeans-8767321">reported</a>. 
 The International Chess Federation (FIDE) said in a <a href="https://www.fide.com/news/3363">statement</a> on Friday that Carlsen “declined” to change clothing and was “not paired for round nine.”
“This decision was made impartially and applies equally to all players,” the statement continued, noting that another player was fined earlier in the day for a different dress code violation. That player “complied, changed into approved attire, and continued to play in the tournament.”
“The dress code regulations are drafted by members of the FIDE Athletes Commission, which is composed of professional players and experts. These rules have been in place for years and are well-known to all participants and are communicated to them ahead of each event. FIDE has also ensured that the players&#8217; accommodation is within a short walking distance from the playing venue, making adherence to the rules more convenient.”
The statement concluded, “FIDE remains committed to promoting chess and its values, including respect for the rules that all participants agree to follow.”
Carlsen posted a photo of himself in the jeans on social media alongside the caption, “OOTD” (outfit of the day).

Carlsen did an interview with the chess app Take Take Take on Saturday, saying he “barely had time” to change and mentioned that he offered not to wear jeans the next day but refused to comply on Friday as “a matter of principle.”
“I said, ‘I&#8217;ll change tomorrow if that&#8217;s okay, I just didn&#8217;t even realize it today,’ but they said, ‘Well, you have to change now,’ and, well, at that point it became, you know, a bit of a matter of principle for me,” he told Take Take Take. “And yeah, so here we are.”
“Honestly, I&#8217;m too old at this point to care too much. If this is what they [FIDE] want to do … I guess it goes both ways, right? Nobody wants to back down, and this is where we are. It&#8217;s fine by me,” Carlsen said. 
Carlsen <a href="https://www.livemint.com/sports/news/cvs-fide-chess-controversy-looking-beyond-jeans-incident-is-it-a-pr-battle-11735410153128.html">accused FIDE</a> of pressuring other players to avoid the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour, which was started by Jan Henric Buettner. He said the organization was “basically threatening them that they wouldn&#8217;t be able to play the world championship cycle if they played in Freestyle.”
&#8220;So honestly my patience with [FIDE] was not very big to begin with, and it&#8217;s okay,” he said. “They can enforce their rules, that&#8217;s fine by me, and my response is that fine, then I&#8217;m out, like, f*** you.&#8221;
Carlsen previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/unprecedented-worlds-1-chess-master-resigns-after-one-move-against-suspected-cheater">made headlines</a> when he resigned from a chess tournament in 2022 after one move because he was playing against someone he suspected had cheated in a previous tournament.

2. Court Ends Mail Order Abortion Pills
Mail-order <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-appeals-court-makes-decision-on-the-mailing-of-abortion-pills" target="_blank" rel="noopener">access to a drug commonly</a> used for abortion could end in the U.S. following a Wednesday Appeals Court Ruling — but it cannot take effect unless the Supreme Court weighs in on the matter. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals decision overturns a part of a lower court ruling which would have revoked the FDA’s two-decade approval of the drug mifepristone. The decision did leave a part of the original ruling in place, that would end the drug’s distribution by mail, limit its use to the seventh week of pregnancy, and require it be administered in the presence of a doctor. Those restrictions won’t take effect right away because the Supreme Court previously intervened to keep the drug available during the legal fight.

3. Woke Lunacy In Hawaii To Blame For Wildfires?
A Hawaiian water official has been “reassigned” after allegedly refusing to transfer water resources that would have helped firefighters battle the Maui Wildfires. The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources deputy director, M. Kaleo Manuel, denied requests from Maui firefighters and various entities to open up reservoirs and streams as the fires grew more out of control. Even after firefighters told the department they’d used all the on-hand water and were desperate for any help, Manuel reportedly delayed their request. Here’s Manuel:

4. Chess Cracks Down On Transgenderism 
The world’s top chess federation has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chess-federation-bans-trans-identifying-men-from-womens-events" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled</a> that men that identify as women cannot compete in its official events for females until an assessment of gender change is made by its officials. The decision was announced Monday by Switzerland-based International Chess Federation  FIDE and led to the federation fielding criticism from various transgender advocacy groups. The federation says that for now, transgender players are allowed to participate in the “open” section of its chess tournaments, and the assessment of gender change could take up to two years.
Rapid Reaction: Men and women are different — always have been, always will be. Perhaps it makes sense that a game based on critical thinking, rules, and tradition is fighting back on this issue.
5. Britney Spears And Husband Divorce
And, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are getting <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/britney-spears-shares-cryptic-posts-following-news-of-split-from-husband" target="_blank" rel="noopener">divorced</a> after 14 months of marriage. Asghari filed a petition to end the marriage with the Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week, citing “irreconcilable differences.” He is also requesting spousal support. The date of separation for the couple is July 28, the petition states. Spears and Asghari got married in June of last year. The pair first met in 2016 when Asghari co-starred with Spears in the music video for her single “Slumber Party.”

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has updated its handbook to ban <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender-athletes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trans-identifying males</a> from competing in women&#8217;s competitions.
FIDE, the international governing body for the sport, provided <a href="https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/TransgenderRegulations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">new guidelines</a> to address transgender chess players and how it would handle titles such as Woman Grandmaster, Woman International Master, Woman FIDE Master, and Woman Candidate Master amid transgender players, <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/sports/international-chess-federation-will-abolish-womens-titles-from-any-player-who-transitions-into-a-man-per-new-guidelines/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mediaite</a> reported.
&#8220;In the event that the gender was changed from a male to a female the player has no right to participate in official FIDE events for women until further FIDE&#8217;s decision is made,&#8221; the rule read. &#8220;Such decision should be based on further analysis and shall be taken by the FIDE Council at the earliest possible time, but not longer than within 2 (two) years period.&#8221;
&#8220;Titles. If a player holds any of the women titles, but the gender has been changed to a man, the women titles are to be abolished,&#8221; the guidelines added. &#8220;Those can be renewed if the person changes the gender back to a woman and can prove the ownership of the respective FIDE ID that holds the title.&#8221;
&#8220;The abolished women title may be transferred into a general title of the same or lower level (e.g., Women&#8217;s Grand Master may be transferred into FM, Women&#8217;s International Master into Candidate Master, etc.),&#8221; it continued, noting that there &#8220;are no restrictions to play in the open section for a person who has changed the gender.&#8221;
Women are not barred from competing in the men&#8217;s events, however, because there is no lack of male competitors, while the women&#8217;s events are intended to encourage more women to participate, the outlet noted.
The move comes ahead of the federation&#8217;s World Cup event in Azerbaijan, where top players, including World No. 1 Grand Master Magnus Carlsen, are attending, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/top-international-chess-federation-bars-transgender-females-competing-in-womens-events?intcmp=tw_fnc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> noted.
Last month, the world governing body for sports cycling, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cycling-organization-bans-trans-identifying-men-from-womens-bike-races" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> it would no longer allow trans-identifying males to compete in women&#8217;s cycling races, reversing a previous policy.

Musk has been under fire from supporters of Ukraine, including many on the American left since he tweeted a proposal for ending the Russian invasion of its western neighbor. Although Musk has spent tens of millions providing Ukraine with his Starlink satellite technology during the eight-month war, critics objected to his suggestion Ukraine make concessions for peace.
&#8220;The cost is huge but Ukraine is paying this cost,” Kasparov, a fierce foe of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” Monday. “So why are people sitting in the comfort of their mansions in Silicon Valley telling Ukraine how to conduct their own affairs? It&#8217;s moral idiocy and geopolitical blindness.&#8221;

Kasparov, 59, who was born in the part of the former Soviet Union now known as Azerbaijan, reigned as world chess champion from 1985-2000. He is now chairman of the Human Rights Foundation and frequently comments on geopolitics.
But Musk didn’t take kindly to Kasparov’s criticism and let his 110 million Twitter followers know it.
“While it’s true that Kasparov is almost as good at playing chess as my iPhone, he is otherwise an idiot,” Musk tweeted. “And I don’t even own a house, let alone a ‘mansion,’ you douche.”
Despite being the world’s richest man, with a net worth of over $200 billion, Musk lives in a modest, rented home in Texas. His efforts to fund communication in Ukraine amid Russia’s attacks on its infrastructure, has cost him more than $80 million. Earlier this month, Musk asked the Pentagon to pay for the service, but then said <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-hell-with-it-elon-musk-reverses-course-on-starlink-decision-in-ukraine/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he would continue to cover it</a> through his SpaceX company.
The peace proposal that Kasparov appeared to object to came in the form of a poll Musk tweeted on October 3. In it, he suggested conditions for peace including UN-supervised elections in Eastern Ukraine regions seized by Russia, Crimea being officially returned to Russia with its water supply guaranteed, and Ukraine not joining NATO.
Although Musk has famously focused his prodigious intellect on satellites, rockets, electric cars, and drilling tunnels, he told one Twitter user that he has played the so-called “game of kings” before.
“I did as a child, but found it to be too simple to be useful in real life: a mere 8 by 8 grid, no fog of war, no technology tree, no random map or spawn position, only 2 players, both sides exact same pieces, etc.,” he wrote of chess.

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen addressed the board game’s officials and fans Monday after making an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/unprecedented-worlds-1-chess-master-resigns-after-one-move-against-suspected-cheater">unprecedented action</a> during a tournament last week by resigning after one move against a player he suspected of cheating.
“I know that my actions have frustrated many in the chess community,” Carlsen said.” I’m frustrated. I want to play chess. I want to continue to play chess at the highest level in the best events.”
On September 4 at the Sinquefield Cup, Carlsen withdrew in his match against his 19-year-old opponent, Hans Niemann, leaving the chess world in a bit of a stalemate.
Carlsen, who had led the standings at the Julius Baer Generation Cup after the opening rounds, signaled his refusal to compete against Niemann after making two conventional pawn moves.
Niemann had previously admitted to cheating twice in online games when he was younger, calling them mistakes he made because he was young.
Carlsen said he believes Niemann has recently cheated more and called his board progress “unusual,” which has soared from 2484 in January to 2701 after his victory.
“I had the impression that he wasn’t tense or even fully concentrating on the game in critical positions while outplaying me as black in a way I think only a handful of players can do,” he said. “This game contributed to changing my perspective.”
Niemann denied such claims he had cheated against Carlsen and further bragged about his victory, saying, “it must be embarrassing for the world champion to lose to an idiot like me.”
“I feel bad for him,” Niemann added.

World Chess Champion Checks Tournament Opponent; Backs Up Claims Of Suspected Cheating

The number one chess player in the world made a stunning move on Monday against a player who was widely suspected of cheating against him in a recent tournament: he resigned after one move.
Thirty-one-year-old Magnus Carlsen’s resignation after one move signaled his refusal to compete against 19-year old Hans Niemann; Carlsen had led the standings at the at the Julius Baer Generation Cup after the opening rounds Sunday; his resignation does not affect his play in other games at the virtual tournament.
“What happened? What?!” Woman Grandmaster Tania Sachev exclaimed on the broadcast of the event when Carlsen’s camera signed off. “Magnus Carlsen just resigned, got up, and left … And that’s all we know right now,” The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/chess-cheating-magnus-carlsen-hans-niemann-11663617396" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Event announcer Peter Leko <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11230979/Chess-World-No-1-Magnus-Carlsen-resigns-one-against-Niemann.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">echoed</a>, “Wow. Speechless, yeah? What to say, what to say? And the story continues.”
“This is unprecedented. I just, I can&#8217;t believe it,” Sachdev responded. “Did that just happen, Peter? Magnus just refusing to play against Hans. He will play the tournament, but he is saying I will not play the game against him. That&#8217;s making a very big statement.”
On September 4 at the Sinquefield Cup, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/naked-chess-and-anal-beads-cheating-rumor-rocks-world-of-elite-grandmasters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carlsen withdrew in his match against Niemann</a>, stunning the chess world. Niemann’s chess Elo ranking spectacularly soared from 2484 in January to 2701 after his victory, eliciting questions as to whether he had cheated.
Those claims seemed to gain ground because Carlsen tweeted, “I&#8217;ve withdrawn from the tournament. I&#8217;ve always enjoyed playing in the @STLChessClub, and hope to be back in the future” accompanied by a video of football manager Jose Mourinho saying: “If I speak I am in big trouble.”
Mourinho made that statement after a game in which his team lost but fans felt officials’ had made calls that caused the loss.

Niemann bragged after his victory, “It must be embarrassing for the world champion to lose to an idiot like me. I feel bad for him.”
Although Niemann has admitted cheating twice in online games when he was younger, calling them mistakes he made because he was young, he denied claims he had cheated against Carlsen. <a href="http://chess.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chess.com</a> countered Niemann’s claims and shown evidence that he had cheated more frequently.
