The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/san-francisco">San Francisco</a> Police Department (SFPD) won’t charge an 11-year-old boy for his role in a group assault and robbery of a 70-year-old Asian woman due to his age.
The three other suspects in the assault and robbery were two juvenile girls, ages 13 and 14, and an 18-year-old male named Darryl Moore.
Police announced that they couldn’t press charges during a Monday press conference. San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins insisted that the community needed to do more to prevent juvenile crimes.
“I think a greater dialogue and discussion has to begin when we are seeing our children involved in these types of crimes,” said Jenkins, <a href="https://www.ktvu.com/news/4-young-people-including-11-year-old-accused-of-vicious-attack-on-elderly-woman">according</a> to KTVU. “I think it sends a message to us all that we need to do more as a community in San Francisco, more broadly, to discuss how we got to this point.”

In 2018, California prevented most children under 12 years old from entering the juvenile court system through Senate Bill 439 (<a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180SB439">SB-439</a>), excluding those children who murder, rape, or sexually assault their victims. The law requires law enforcement to return children under 12 who commit any other crimes to their families or caregivers.
Former Governor Jerry Brown (D-CA) signed the bill into law. The Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice, Children’s Defense Fund of California, National Center for Youth Law, W. Haywood Burns Institute, Youth Justice Coalition of Los Angeles, and Anti-Recidivism Coalition <a href="http://www.cjcj.org/Policy-analysis/CJCJ-Co-sponsored-Legislation/Senate-Bill-439-2018-.html">cosponsored</a> the bill.
During Monday’s press conference, SFPD Chief Bill Scott called the juveniles’ involvement in the assault and robbery “really, really sad.” Jenkins echoed that sentiment shortly after. She noted in a tweet that the city needed to ensure appropriate consequences for crimes of that nature.

Moore and the two juvenile girls face charges of robbery, elder abuse, burglary, false imprisonment, and conspiracy.
The assault of the 70-year-old San Francisco woman, <a href="https://abc7news.com/asian-woman-beaten-in-sf-attacked-by-four-people-elderly-kicked-head-san-francisco-senior-attacks/12091867/">identified</a> by local media only as “Mrs. Ren,” occurred on July 31 inside the lobby of a building. The teens hit and kicked Ren in the head and various parts of her body multiple times, taking her iPhone and keys. Ren sustained non-life-threatening injuries that warranted a hospital trip.

During Monday’s press conference, Jenkins said that there will be an investigation to determine whether a hate crime occurred.
“With regard to hate crimes, they do require proof of motive,” said Jenkins. “That oftentimes requires an expression from an assailant or some investigation into past history.”
Moore, along with the 11-year-old and the 13-year-old, weren’t apprehended until last Wednesday, when they were arrested for an unrelated crime about an hour away in Milpitas, California. The 14-year-old remains at large as of press time.

Walgreens allegedly failed to properly investigate &#8220;suspicious&#8221; prescription orders for almost 15 years that contributed to the opioid epidemic in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/san-francisco">San Francisco</a>, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer wrote that pharmacists at Walgreens filled hundreds of thousands of opioid prescription orders without having enough time, staffing, or resources to investigate red flags laws from 2006 to 2020, per <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/walgreens-prescriptions-contributed-opioid-epidemic-san-francisco-us-court-2022-08-10/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reuters</a>.
Breyer noted that the company shipped nearly one out every five oxycodone and hydrocodone pills distributed nationwide at the peak of the opioid crisis, per <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2022/08/10/walgreens-opioid-decision-san-francisco/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a>.
&#8220;Walgreens has regulatory obligations to take reasonable steps to prevent the drugs from being diverted and harming the public,&#8221; Breyer wrote. &#8220;The evidence at trial established that Walgreens breached these obligations.&#8221;
Peter Mougey, an attorney representing the city and other communities nationwide against big pharma companies, told The Washington Post that the verdict would help other cases.
&#8220;Walgreens has hidden, covered up, and run from the truth throughout the entirety of this five-year litigation,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Walgreens knew its system to detect and stop suspicious orders was nonexistent but continued to ship opioids at an alarming pace to increase profits.
&#8220;San Francisco is now one step closer to starting the healing process,&#8221; Mougey added.
San Francisco officials sued Walgreens and several other drug manufacturers and distributors like Johnson &amp; Johnson, Purdue Pharma, and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in 2018 for creating a &#8220;public nuisance&#8221; by failing to prevent the illegal use of prescription opioids flooding the city.
Other companies involved in the lawsuit include Allergan, Endo International, and the three biggest drug distributors nationwide — McKesson Corp., AmerisourceBergen Corp., and Cardinal Health.
Walgreens remained the only company involved in the lawsuit that did not settle with the city before the court ruling.
Walgreens spokesman Fraser Engerman said the company was &#8220;disappointed&#8221; with the decision and would appeal, standing by its claim that the company never manufactured or marketed opioids.
&#8220;Nor did we distribute them to the &#8216;pill mills&#8217; and internet pharmacies that fueled this crisis,&#8221; Fraser wrote in an email to The Washington Post.
Walgreens will face another trial at a later date to determine how much the company must pay the city for the damage it allegedly caused the city.
According to the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/drugoverdose/epidemic/index.html">U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention</a>, the opioid epidemic caused more than half a million overdose deaths over the last 20 years.
Reuters reports that more than 3,300 lawsuits concerning opioids were filed against drug manufacturers, distributors, pharmacies, and other companies nationwide.
The court ruled San Francisco led the crisis with opioid-related emergency room visits that tripled from 886 in 2015 to 2,998 in 2020.
Other factors of San Francisco&#8217;s drug crisis can also trace back to the city&#8217;s open-air drug market, which the newly appointed District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has vowed to shut down.
Jenkins helped lead the recall of her predecessor and former boss, Chesa Boudin.
&#8220;I told the public that on day one, I will begin enforcing drug crime law,&#8221; Jenkins said according to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/san-franciscos-new-da-vows-to-shut-down-open-air-drug-market/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KRON 4.</a> &#8220;I mean what I say, and I am focused on delivering on my promise to hold serious and repeat offenders accountable for wreaking havoc in our communities like the Tenderloin.&#8221;
&#8220;We cannot allow our residents to die on the street of overdose — without holding those who sell fentanyl accountable,&#8221; she added. &#8220;We had 45 overdose deaths in May — 33 of which were from fentanyl.&#8221;
Yet while Jenkins has pledged to clear out drug use on the streets, California lawmakers recently introduced a new bill that would open so-called safe injection sites, where drug users can get high in a &#8220;protected setting.&#8221;
San Francisco Democrat lawmaker Scott Weiner authored the bill and claims such sites have proven to help people avoid overdose deaths, which the city saw a new record of in the last two years.
KTVU <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.ktvu.com/news/new-law-could-open-safe-injection-sites-in-bay-area-for-drug-users" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> 711 people overdosed in 2020, while another 640 died in 2021.
However, Weiner asserts California and the rest of the nation have seen a dramatic increase in overdose deaths because of the lack of safe spaces.
&#8220;This legislation isn&#8217;t about whether we want people to use drugs,&#8221; Weiner told KTVU. &#8220;Rather, it&#8217;s an acknowledgment that people are using drugs, and our choice is whether we want to make every effort to help them survive and get healthy.&#8221;

Boudin went on the tout the criminal justice reforms he enacted while serving as the city&#8217;s top prosecutor and took a few parting shots at his replacement, Brooke Jenkins, who has already begun to undo Boudin&#8217;s work after he was soundly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/san-fran-votes-overwhelmingly-to-oust-woke-soros-prosecutor-from-office-in-major-rejection-of-far-left">recalled</a> by the voters of San Francisco in June.
&#8220;Over the past weeks I&#8217;ve spoken to family, friends, supporters and everyday San Franciscans about how we can best continue to make our criminal justice system fairer and more effective,&#8221; Boudin wrote. &#8220;I have devoted my public life to this effort because it makes our communities stronger &amp; safer. I’ve also taken stock of the burden that more than three years of nearly non-stop campaigning placed on my family. I’m committed to criminal justice reform; I’m also committed to my family.&#8221;
Boudin then mentioned his father&#8217;s return from prison; Boudin&#8217;s father, David Gilbert, was released from jail in November. A member of the far-left terrorist group Weather Underground, Gilbert was serving a 75-years-to-life sentence for his role in an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/took-part-in-murderous-holdup-new-york-times-deletes-replaces-tweet-about-san-francisco-leftist-das-terrorist-mom">armed robbery</a> of a Brinks armored truck in New York in which two police officers and the truck guard were killed. His sentence was commuted by former Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cuomo-grants-clemency-to-hard-left-san-francisco-das-dad-who-was-convicted-of-murder">Andrew Cuomo</a> (D-NY) on his last day in office in August 2021. The former DA also mentioned his mother&#8217;s death in May, as well as his wife and infant son as reasons for his decision to bow out.
&#8220;I am choosing to put my family first: I will not be running for office in 2022,&#8221; Boudin said.
Boudin went on to tout his record as DA. &#8220;We made a lot of progress in a short period of time,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;I am particularly proud of our significant expansion of victims services, including new programs to serve our AAPI community and the appointment of the first-ever multilingual Chinese American Victim Services Chief, our resentencing work that offered second chances to those who had caused harm and supported victims, our restorative justice work, our focus on accountability through behavioral health treatment, our Innocence Commission’s exoneration of a wrongly-convicted man, our innovative program tackling auto burglary fencing operations, our creation of a worker protection unit, our litigation against manufacturers of ghost guns, and our historic strides in police accountability.&#8221;
He then thanked his staff for their work.
Boudin concluded his thread by taking parting shots at his successor, Brooke Jenkins, who has already begun to unravel much of his work. &#8220;I am gravely concerned by what I’ve seen from the current, appointed District Attorney. We have heard no assurances that the successful programs we’ve implemented will continue, and indeed, we see worrying signs every day as progress is rolled back. I join the vast majority of San Franciscans in urging our elected — or, as is increasingly common, appointed — leaders to work for equal justice, evidence-based reforms, and improved services for victims.&#8221;
Within a week of her appointment by Mayor London Breed, Jenkins <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/newly-appointed-progressive-san-francisco-district-attorney-fires-15-staffers-from-predecessors-office">fired 15 of Boudin&#8217;s high-level staffers</a>. Then on Wednesday, she revoked <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/san-francisco-da-revokes-dozens-of-plea-deals-made-by-woke-predecessor-cracks-down-on-drug-dealers">more than 30 plea deals</a> his office had struck with drug dealers during his tenure.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/san-francisco">San Francisco</a> district attorney who replaced ousted woke DA Chesa Boudin revoked dozens of plea deals given by Boudin.
In a <a href="https://www.sfdistrictattorney.org/press-release/district-attorney-brooke-jenkins-announces-new-policy-to-hold-drug-dealers-accountable-revokes-misdemeanor-plea-offers-for-fentanyl-dealers/">news release</a> Wednesday, San Francisco DA Brooke Jenkins announced she had revoked more than 30 plea bargains that Boudin, her far-left predecessor, had offered to drug offenders during his administration. The reversals were part of a broader policy unveiled by Jenkins, which would prohibit drug dealers arrested with more than five grams of drugs from being referred to the city&#8217;s so-called &#8220;community justice court.&#8221; It would also impose enhanced charges for dealers arrested within 1,000 feet of a school, and potentially seek pre-trial detention for fentanyl dealers, &#8220;in extreme cases.&#8221;
“Since 2020, nearly 1,500 people have died of drug overdose in part because dealers have been allowed to operate with impunity,” Jenkins said in the news release. “The lethality of fentanyl presents a different challenge, and we must immediately change course, so we can save lives and hold people accountable for the havoc they are wreaking in our communities like the Tenderloin and South of Market. Going forward defendants holding lethal doses of fentanyl will face felony charges.”
In one case in which a plea deal was revoked, described by Jenkins in the release, a fentanyl dealer in the city&#8217;s Tenderloin district was arrested with more than 100 grams of fentanyl. That drug dealer already had six open cases for dealing fentanyl in the Tenderloin. The dealer was previously referred to the community justice court at least five times by Boudin&#8217;s administration, despite not complying with the court&#8217;s mandated requirements and violating the terms of a stay away order from the Tenderloin district, each time he was arrested. That dealer was offered a single misdemeanor charge in order to close all six outstanding cases.
The release also pointed out Boudin&#8217;s failure to prosecute drug crimes during his tenure.
A review of outstanding drug cases published by the DA&#8217;s office found that as of July 2022, there are 157 cases involving narcotics sales currently in collaborative courts like the San Francisco community justice court; more than half of those cases, 88 in total, involve fentanyl, and 40 defendants in those cases have multiple open drug cases. On top of that, data from the San Francisco Superior Court, cited in the release, showed that Boudin&#8217;s administration did not obtain a single conviction for dealing fentanyl in the entire year 2021.
Even far-left Los Angeles district attorney George Gascon&#8217;s office obtained convictions in 90 drug cases in 2021, Jenkins&#8217;s office reported.
The new policy is Jenkins’ latest move to reverse course from Boudin&#8217;s administration. Shortly after assuming office in July, Jenkins <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/newly-appointed-progressive-san-francisco-district-attorney-fires-15-staffers-from-predecessors-office">fired 15 of Boudin&#8217;s staffers</a>, including Boudin&#8217;s chief of staff, managing attorney, assistant chief of general crimes, communications director and policy advisor, director of data, analytics, and research, and managing attorney of the independent investigations bureau.
“Today, I made difficult but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable and implementing smart criminal justice reforms,” Jenkins said in a statement to SFGATE at the time.
Boudin was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/07/us/politics/chesa-boudin-recall-san-francisco.html">overwhelmingly recalled</a> in June. Fully 60% of San Francisco residents voted to recall the far-left DA, who had received support from left-wing billionaire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-have-no-intention-of-stopping-belligerent-soros-says-he-will-continue-funding-leftist-das">George Soros</a>.

Seeing the backlash across the United States against woke city district attorneys, including the ouster of ultra-Left San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin in July, billionaire George Soros, indifferent to Americans’ concerns, vowed to continue supporting them with his vast fortune.
The Capital Research Center <a href="https://capitalresearch.org/article/living-room-pundits-guide-to-soros-district-attorneys/">reported</a> in January that since 2016, their researchers tracked over $29 million in funding from Soros “through a personal network of political action committees (PACs) formed specifically to back left-wing DA candidates.”
“I have supported the election (and more recently the re-election) of prosecutors who support reform. I have done it transparently, and I have no intention of stopping,” Soros acknowledged in his <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-i-support-reform-prosecutors-law-enforces-jail-prison-crime-rate-justice-police-funding-11659277441">opinion piece</a> in The Wall Street Journal.
Soros wrote “Our system is rife with injustices that make us all less safe. The idea that we need to choose between justice and safety is false.”
“Some politicians and pundits have tried to blame recent spikes in crime on the policies of reform-minded prosecutors. The research I’ve seen says otherwise,” Soros insisted.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins on Friday fired 15 staffers less than a week after replacing the city&#8217;s former DA Chesa Boudin in a recall.
&#8220;Today, I made difficult but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable and implementing smart criminal justice reforms,&#8221; Jenkins said to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Brooke-Jenkins-makes-wave-of-firings-17308456.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SFGATE.com</a>.
Jenkins, who helped lead the campaign to oust her predecessor, held a &#8220;horrible,&#8221; &#8220;icy,&#8221; &#8220;uncomfortable,&#8221; and &#8220;insane&#8221; 20-minute meeting with most of Boudin&#8217;s staff almost immediately after the city&#8217;s Mayor London Breed swore in Jenkins earlier this month. During that meeting, Jenkins said to the approximately 25 employees that she would not fire anyone that day but planned on meeting with staffers for a possible &#8220;reshuffling&#8221; of the office, <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Inside-first-meeting-with-Brooke-Jenkins-as-SF-DA-17293728.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SFGATE.com</a> reported.
Through Jenkin&#8217;s reshuffling, Managing Attorney Arcelia Hurtado reportedly lost her job first.
Hurtado served as a representative for The Innocence Commission, which Boudin established in 2020 to review cases of those who were wrongfully convicted. In a recent interview with <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.kqed.org/news/11919634/meet-brooke-jenkins-san-franciscos-new-district-attorney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KQED</a>, Jenkins said she would support the commission.
However, Lara Bazelon, chair of the commission and law professor at the University of San Francisco, told SFGATE.com that Jenkin&#8217;s decision to fire Hurtado is &#8220;deeply concerning,&#8221; considering Mayor Breed&#8217;s brother could receive leniency with possible release from prison following his conviction for carjacking and manslaughter.
Other staffers booted by Jenkins were the former DA&#8217;s chief of staff, Kate Chatfield, who <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://twitter.com/ChatfieldKate/status/1548046688522084360" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> on Friday that Boudin&#8217;s reformations would disappear.
&#8220;The resentencing/innocence commission unit: gone,&#8221; Chatfield said. &#8220;Police accountability: gone. Data and transparency: gone. Political corruption investigation: gone. Champion for victims and children: demoted.&#8221;
She added, &#8220;Champion for humane, hugely-popular, and successful treatment programs: gone. Latino/a outreach: gone. Support for trafficked children: gone.&#8221;
Jenkin&#8217;s reshuffling also included Tal Klement, assistant chief of general crimes, who <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://twitter.com/talklement/status/1548024678727372807" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> he would never stop fighting for real criminal justice reform following his firing.
Jenkin&#8217;s dismissed Boudin&#8217;s communication director and policy advisor, Rachel Marshall, the former director of data, analytics, and research, Mikaela Rabinowitz, and the managing attorney of the independent investigations bureau Lateef Gray.
In a statement, Jenkin&#8217;s said she would do everything she could to restore accountability and consequences to the city&#8217;s criminal justice system while still using progressive reforms.
&#8220;I have seen firsthand the imbalances and disproportionate impacts of our criminal justice system,&#8221; she <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://sfmayor.org/article/brooke-jenkins-sworn-san-francisco-district-attorney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
During a press conference, she called San Francisco &#8220;a city of second chances.&#8221;
&#8220;But the truth is we have to draw a line with people who choose hate, violence, and a life of crime,&#8221; Jenkins said, according to <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://thegrio.com/2022/07/10/brooke-jenkins-to-be-san-francisco-da/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Grio</a>. &#8220;I want to make clear: holding offenders accountable does not preclude us from moving forward with vital and important reforms to our criminal justice system.&#8221;
She served as an Assistant DA in the city&#8217;s DA office for approximately seven years until resigning during Boudin&#8217;s reign, noting dissatisfaction with the direction of the office.
Mayor Breed said she hears from frustrated residents daily about feeling unsafe and the city&#8217;s accountability.
Under Boudin&#8217;s rule, the former DA eliminated cash bail for suspects, directed his department to refuse to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and prosecuted fewer shoplifters. Homicides and property crimes including burglaries and car thefts have spiked over the past two years, and Boudin’s handling of suspected fentanyl dealers drew criticism.
Although Boudin, who gained support from left-wing billionaire George Soros, admitted he made mistakes, Boudin blamed his recall on right-wing billionaires.
Jenkins serves as San Francisco&#8217;s District Attorney until November when she faces a special election that determines who completes Boudin&#8217;s term.

Californians voted in the state’s open primary election on Tuesday night, revealing some telling information about the mindset of voters ahead of the midterm elections.
The primary race for mayor of Los Angeles placed two very different visions for the city against one another. The outspoken law and order candidate, billionaire businessman and former Republican Rick Caruso ran against a slew of candidates that included several left-wing progressives, most notably Democratic Congresswoman Karen Bass. Neither candidate reached the 50% vote necessary to avoid a runoff, but Caruso was the projected winner, with more than one-third of the expected votes counted. He led Bass early Wednesday with 42% support compared to Bass&#8217;s 37%. Caruso and Bass will face off in November. L.A. City Councilman Kevin de León, another progressive Democrat, <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-06-07/2022-los-angeles-mayor-election-karen-bass-rick-caruso-results">came in third place</a>, followed by progressive activist Gina Viola.
“This is a great night because so many people have gone to the voting booth and they sent a message: We are not helpless in the face of our problems,” Caruso told supporters at The Grove, a luxury shopping center in the city that he developed. “We will not allow the city to decline. We will no longer accept excuses.”
Caruso said his position was “a victory story, about an entire community that refused to let the dream of Los Angeles be extinguished.” 
Bass also addressed supporters in Hollywood, saying, “We are in a fight for the soul of our city,” adding, “and we are going to win.”
Another race <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/06/07/us/elections/results-california-state-controller.html">gaining</a> attention was the election for state controller, where Lanhee Chen, a Republican, came out ahead, winning 37% of the vote. If Chen beats his Democratic opponent in November, it would be the first time Republicans have won a statewide race since 2006.
In a decisive outcome, voters chose to recall San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, with the yes votes coming in at 60%.
Boudin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chesa-boudin-soft-on-crime-son-of-terror-group-members-bitter-after-recall-as-san-francisco-da">addressed his loss</a> by blaming the situation on “right-wing billionaires,” while acknowledging “we’ve made mistakes” without stating what he thinks those mistakes were.
“People are angry, they’re frustrated, and I want to be very clear about what happened tonight: The right-wing billionaires outspent us three to one, they exploited an environment in which people are appropriately upset, and they created an electoral dynamic where we were literally shadowboxing,” Boudin said. “Voters were not given an opportunity to choose between criminal justice reform and something else. They were given an opportunity to voice their frustrations and their outrage and they took that opportunity.”
However, for Republicans hoping to see a shift in California state politics, the gubernatorial primary showed resounding support for Democratic policies in the state. Democratic incumbent Governor Gavin Newsom is the projected top vote-getter, annihilating a list of other candidates with 56.3% of the vote as of Wednesday morning, with 49% of the expected ballots counted. Republican Brian Dahle was in second place, with only 16.8% support. The two will compete in the general election in November after Newsom survived a recall attempt last year.

Woke <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/san-francisco">San Francisco</a> District Attorney Chesa Boudin, whose rocky tenure as the city&#8217;s top prosecutor ended with Tuesday night when voters recalled him, admitted he &#8220;made mistakes,&#8221; but bitterly blamed the loss on &#8220;right-wing billionaires.&#8221;

Early returns suggested at least 60 percent of voters wanted him out. But Boudin, who was elected in 2019 with support from liberal billionaire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/george-soros">George Soros</a>, blamed well-heeled supporters of the recall effort.

One of Boudin&#8217;s first moves after being elected with just over 50% of the vote was to eliminate cash bail for suspects. He also had directed his department to refuse to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, prosecuted fewer shoplifters, and in March of 2021, he <a class="Link" href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/san-francisco-district-attorney-killing-temper-tantrum">dismissed</a> the killing of an 84-year-old Thai immigrant as a &#8220;sort of temper tantrum&#8221; gone bad.
Homicides and property crimes including burglaries and car thefts have spiked over the past two years, and Boudin&#8217;s handling of suspected fentanyl dealers has draw criticism.
Boudin acknowledged that &#8220;we&#8217;ve made mistakes,&#8221; but did not specify what he believes those mistakes are. Under the city&#8217;s rules, Boudin, who had no opponent, will be replaced by an interim prosecutor of Mayor London Breed&#8217;s choosing.
Boudin is the son of Kathy Boudin and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-san-fran-da-celebrates-his-terrorist-dad-getting-vaccine-in-prison-sparks-strong-blowback">David Gilbert</a>, members of the 1970s radical terrorist group <a class="Link" href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/weather-underground">Weather Underground</a>. The organization was responsible for several bombings of government buildings and banks in the 1970s. Gilbert was convicted of felony murder in connection with a 1981 Brinks truck heist that left two police officers and a guard dead, while Boudin, was also convicted for her role in in the crime. When his mother went to prison for murder in 1981 when he was just a year old, Boudin was adopted by the group&#8217;s leaders, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Ayers and Dohrn went on the careers in academia and Ayers knew former President Barack Obama, a relationship which came under scrutiny in 2008.

Chesa Boudin, Soft-On-Crime Son Of Terror Group Members, Bitter After Recall As San Francisco DA

On Sunday night, The New York Times deleted a tweet almost immediately after it had been issued, a tweet that marked the death of a former member of an American terrorist group whom the Times initially stated &#8220;took part in a murderous 1981 holdup of a Brinks’ armored truck.”
That tweet referred to former Weather Underground member Nancy Boudin, who just happened to be the mother of leftist San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin.
The Times hastily deleted the tweet; two minutes after its issuance the Times offered another tweet which stated that Nancy Boudin was “imprisoned for her role in a fatal robbery but who later helped former inmates.”

Chesa Boudin <a href="https://www.sfexaminer.com/the-city/sf-public-defender-running-for-da-calls-for-unit-to-protect-immigrants-from-deportation/">called</a> the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) racist in June 2019, snapping, “There are lots of situations in San Francisco where ICE is making arrests. We know it’s racist, we know it’s targeting immigrants, and unfortunately, right now no one in the DA’s office has the resources or the mandate to investigate those interactions.”
The <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9306371/Son-Weather-Underground-militant-says-dad-vaccinated-prison-serving-life.html">Daily Mail</a> noted of Chesa Boudin’s parents:

“While we hear much about Chesa Boudin’s suffering and hardships, and about the suffering and hardships of the poor around the world, neither the Times nor our Ivy-League educated Rhodes scholar tells us anything about the suffering of other children much closer to home —the nine children left behind by the policemen and the guard who were murdered, in cold blood, with the help of Chesa Boudin’s parents,” Goldberg wrote. “On this the Times and young Mr. Boudin are silent. They say not a word.”

On July 4, 2020, neighbors in San Francisco’s Bayview District were watching a fireworks show. Gunfire broke out nearby, and a bullet struck 6-year-old Jace Young.
Young was taken to the hospital and later died. Now, his father, Jason, is calling out San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin for upending the criminal justice system, which could allow one of Jace’s killers to potentially serve less jail time for the murder than Jace was alive.
Four gunmen were responsible for the shooting that took place on July 4, 2020. Two were quickly identified after the incident, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/san-francisco-da-chesa-boudin-jace-young-killer-juvenile-trial">according to Fox News</a>: Deshaune Lumpkin, 17 at the time of the shooting, and 18-year-old James Harbor. But, the outlet reported, Harbor was arrested until six months later, on January 6, 2021. Lumpkin wouldn’t be arrested until August 11, 2021, more than a year after Jace’s death.
“Following a two-week hearing in juvenile court, Lumpkin, now 18, was found guilty Monday of four of the six counts against him related to the child’s Fourth of July killing,” Fox reported.
Jason, Jace’s father, said his family was “devastated” even with the verdict because Lumpkin would likely serve less than 6 years in prison for Jace’s murder. That’s because Boudin campaigned on never trying someone who commits a crime under the age of 18 as an adult no matter how serious the crime. That means Lumpkin can only be held a maximum of eight years – until his 25th birthday. With good behavior and parole, Lumpkin could be out of in prison in less time than his victim spent on Earth.
Harbor was 18 at the time of the crime, just months older than Lumpkin. He was tried as an adult and faces 50 years to life in prison for Jace’s death.
&#8220;I am so angry with Chesa Boudin right now. He makes San Francisco’s criminal justice system a complete joke,&#8221; Jason Young said in a statement distributed by a group attempting to recall Boudin. &#8220;The killer of my 6-year-old son will likely serve less time than the age of my son because of Chesa&#8217;s campaign promise. Boudin&#8217;s campaign promises do not protect San Franciscans and ensure justice – they only allow criminals, and in this case, murderers, to return to the community.&#8221;
&#8220;Some wonder why the Black community doesn&#8217;t have faith in the justice system,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;We cannot help but feel that if this had happened to a White child in another neighborhood, we would not be having this discussion; we would not have this result from a dismissive, out-of-touch district attorney. At the very least there would be some real accountability in Jace’s case.&#8221;
&#8220;As the cycle of violence continues in San Francisco, our family and everyone else affected by this senseless crime and lack of accountability is traumatized,&#8221; Young added. &#8220;To be a victim of crime in San Francisco is a complete nightmare under District Attorney Boudin. This is just another example of how he is failing our community and the city of San Francisco. This isn’t justice for Jace, and this isn’t what our city deserves either. No family should ever go through what we are going through.&#8221;

Father Of Slain 6-Year-Old Blasts DA Chesa Boudin: Made ‘Justice System A Complete Joke’

According to San Francisco Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, yet another major retail store in San Francisco has announced that it will be reducing its hours in response to excessive theft.
The Castro Safeway on Market and Church Streets used to be open 24 hours per day, but its opening hours are now from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., effective October 24.
According to <a href="https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2021/11/01/safeway-in-castro-cuts-hours-due-to-off-the-charts-shoplifting-its-sad-upsetting-and-frustrating/">CBS SF Bay Area</a>, Mandelman’s district includes the Market Street Safeway, and Safeway had reached out to him to discuss problems with theft.
“I think like a lot of retailers they’ve been experiencing increasing property crime and theft from their stores,” Mandelman said. “I think the last 6 months from what they say has been sort of — off the charts in terms of how bad it’s been. It’s sad, upsetting and frustrating.”
Mandelman described the closure as an “equity problem,” saying that he was working on organizing a meeting with San Francisco police, Safeway, and the city’s district attorney. He also said that, according to Safeway, police rarely arrest anyone for theft by the time they respond to a report.
“There’s a lot of low-income folks, seniors, folks with disability, who rely on that Safeway and other Safeways around the city,” he said.
“I feel like it’s definitely an inconvenience, not everybody can make it to the supermarket between those hours, so it’s a little frustrating, especially for me personally. I like to shop later on,” said Chris Rankins, who lives in the Castro neighborhood. 
Meanwhile, Johnny Denham said, “It’s better for me to come up here after work, go shopping and go home.”
“Now it’s like I either have to go shopping before work, or on my days off, which I really don’t like doing,” he added.
The subject of crime is central to a growing effort to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/more-san-francisco-prosecutors-quit-join-effort-to-recall-radical-da-chesa-boudin-ive-seen-decisions-that-shocked-my-conscience">recall</a> San Francisco’s district attorney, Chesa Boudin.
 Last week, two prosecutors in San Francisco added their names to the growing list of at least 50 attorneys who have resigned or been fired since Boudin took office in January 2020. At this point, around one-third of the department’s attorneys have left their jobs.
Prosecutors Brooke Jenkins and Don Du Bain have also joined an effort to recall Boudin and cited the district attorney&#8217;s lack of commitment to prosecuting crimes as a reason for their decision to step down.
“Chesa has a radical approach that involves not charging crime in the first place and simply releasing individuals with no rehabilitation and putting them in positions where they are simply more likely to re-offend,” Jenkins said in an interview with <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/san-francisco-prosecutors-quit-chesa-boudin-office-recall-joined">KNTV</a>. “Being an African American and Latino woman, I would wholeheartedly agree that the criminal justice system needs a lot of work, but when you are a district attorney, your job is to have balance.”
According to Du Bain, Boudin “disregards the laws that he doesn’t like, and he disregards the court decisions that he doesn’t like to impose his own version of what he believes is just — and that’s not the job of the district attorney.”

Another San Francisco Supermarket Reduces Hours Because Of ‘Off The Charts’ Shoplifting

More than 150 families have hired private security to patrol the streets of San Francisco, amidst a rash of home burglaries and car break-ins.
Patrol special officer Alan Byard was <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/san-francisco-families-dont-feel-safe-hire-private-security">hired by the families</a> to patrol the Marina district, an upscale neighborhood at the northern tip of the city, known for its history as the staging area of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. Patrol special officers are private security guards whose functions are overseen by the San Francisco Police Commission.  
&#8220;It’s a nice area down here, people are afraid of what’s been going on,&#8221; said Byard. &#8220;They want a safe place to raise their kids. In the last year, I’ve had 10 of my clients move out of the city.&#8221;
&#8220;We don’t feel safe in our neighborhood,&#8221; resident Katie Lyons, told CBS SF, via Fox News. &#8220;And we have an alarm, we have cameras on our property, but we want the extra security of having someone have eyes on our place.&#8221;
For a monthly fee of $65 per family, Byard spends his nights in his car, patrolling the neighborhood from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., on the lookout for suspicious activity. He told the outlet that he has more than doubled his residential client base since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, from 70 families to 150, just in the Marina District neighborhood. The most common problem in the neighborhood was car break-ins, he said, but petty theft and burglary were also common occurrences.
Lyons noted that she refuses to walk around the city at night, especially not carrying a purse. &#8220;Especially at night, I don’t walk with a purse, I’ll drive, or I’ll take an Uber, and it’s beginning to become a daytime problem too,&#8221; she said. She also noted that she often sees stolen property outside her home.
Allan Brown, a 20-year resident of the Marina District, had a depressing response when he was asked by the outlet whether crime had recently increased. &#8220;Oh absolutely, absolutely,” he said. “This place used to be – nothing would ever happen here.&#8221; 
Instances of car burglary have continued to occur. Fox News reports: “The city’s Central District, which includes tourist hot spots such as Fisherman&#8217;s Wharf and Chinatown, struggled with a staggering 753% increase in car break-ins from May 2020 to May 2021.”  
A <a href="https://twitter.com/GrindFaceTV/status/1450690350129958912?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1450690350129958912%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fus%2Fsan-francisco-families-dont-feel-safe-hire-private-security">video</a> posted to Twitter on Oct. 20 and shared by Fox News shows an individual breaking into cars in the Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood in the middle of the day, stealing items from inside cars before being chased off by the owner of one of the cars. In <a href="https://twitter.com/LyanneMelendez/status/1450537156045205505?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1450537156045205505%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fus%2Fsan-francisco-families-dont-feel-safe-hire-private-security">another</a> instance, a couple visiting from Seattle had the rear window of their car smashed, just a few blocks away from where San Francisco Mayor London Breed was announcing a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of organized car burglars.
The city is also dealing with a rash of brazen shoplifting incidents. As previously reported by The Daily Wire, Walgreens has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/walgreens-now-closing-stores-in-san-francisco-following-retail-theft-spike">forced</a> to close 5 stores in the city because of shoplifting, with one location reportedly losing as much as $1000 worth of merchandise per day.
