The tech company Astronomer announced on Friday that they were launching an investigation into the situation with their CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot after the two were spotted canoodling at a Coldplay concert.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,” the company said in a <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/posts/astronomer_astronomer-is-committed-to-the-values-and-activity-7352044359338373121-Fwe5">statement</a> posted to LinkedIn.
“The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
The statement also addressed rumors that another HR department employee was the woman captured on video standing beside the couple smiling widely.
“Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video,” the LinkedIn statement added. “Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.”
Comments for the post were disabled.
The update comes days after a video of the two company execs went massively viral online, racking up more than 55 million views on the original TikTok and being shared across all social media platforms.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin called out their reaction. “Oh look at these two,” the singer can be heard saying. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”
The popularity of the video spurred many fake reactions, including a faux statement attributed to Byron and images of a fake social media post attributed to Coldplay saying, “Starting with our next show, we’re introducing camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces.”
Byron has served as CEO of Astronomer since 2023, and Cabot was hired nine months ago.
Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, removed her last name from her Facebook account before deactivating it entirely. Byron was on LinkedIn, but appears to have removed his profile as of Friday. They reportedly have two children.

As the internet continues to obsess over the alleged affair between the CEO of tech company Astronomer and its head of human resources, the woman who initially shared a video of the two appearing to show a public display of affection at a recent Coldplay concert is defending her actions.
&#8220;I had no idea who the couple was. Just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it,” New Jersey resident Grace Springer <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/35903214/coldplay-cheating-concert-fan-filmed/">told</a> The Sun of her video clip, which amassed tens of millions of views and became the talk of social media after being posted in the early morning hours on Thursday. 
&#8220;A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but, play stupid games… win stupid prizes,” she added. &#8220;I hope their partners can heal from this and get a second chance at the happiness they deserve with their future still in front of them.”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he would investigate after a report alleged that a top DEI activist offered minority air traffic controller candidates a way to cheat on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) entry exam.
In an audio clip from 2014 obtained by <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14459979/listen-audio-DEI-sharing-answers-air-traffic-control-entry-exam.html?ns_mchannel=rss&amp;ns_campaign=1490&amp;ito=social-twitter_mailonline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Mail</a>, Shelton Snow of the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE), who has served as an air traffic operations supervisor based out of New York, was recorded telling prospective hires, “There are some valuable pieces of information that I have taken a screenshot of and I am going to send that to you via email. &#8230; I am about 99.99 percent sure that it is exactly how you need to answer each question.”
A former NBCFAE member, Matthew Douglas, informed The Daily Mail, “I know several people who cheated and I know several people who are controlling planes as we speak.”
“The inside info was made available in 2014 to African Americans, females, and other minority candidates – but whites were left out of the loop to &#8216;minimize competition,’&#8221; the news outlet added.
“I am launching a full investigation into the DEI hiring allegations at the FAA immediately. If true, swift accountability will come for those responsible. We need the best and brightest, not buzzword, DEI hires,” Duffy stated on X.

By 2014, the FAA started using a biographical questionnaire to test prospective candidates, with questions such as, “How many sports did you play in high school?” and “What has been the major cause of your failures?”

A pro golfer admitted to making “the biggest mistake” of his life during a PGA Tour Canada tournament last weekend when he cheated to improve his score, ensuring he made the cut for the final round.
Justin Doeden, a 28-year-old from Minnesota, <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/25/justin-doeden-confesses-to-golfs-ultimate-sin-i-cheated/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confessed</a> on Monday that he changed his score from a double bogey to a par on the 18th hole of the Ottawa Open. Doeden erased his marked 7 and replaced it with a 5 after his playing partner had already signed the scorecard, placing the golfer within the cut line by one shot and pushing 13 players out of the tournament, Golf.com <a href="https://golf.com/news/mini-tour-pro-confesses-cheating-twitter-post/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. 
“I am here to confess of [sic] the biggest mistake I have made in my life to date. According to Ryan French of <a href="https://www.mondayq.com/posts/doeden-cheating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Monday Q Info</a>, two players were having lunch Friday when they noticed that Doeden came in at 3-under on the leaderboard, but one of the players who was partnered with Doeden for the round questioned the score when he remembered that Doeden finished with a double bogey, putting him at 1-under. The players notified tournament officials who pulled Doeden’s scorecard and saw that his score of 7 had been erased and replaced with a 5. Doeden withdrew from the tournament as officials investigated his changed scorecard. 
Doeden has played in 56 tournaments on PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour Latinoamerica after turning pro in 2018. When asked if the cheating golfer will face discipline, PGA Tour Canada told Golf.com that “the matter — and any related disciplinary action — will be handled internally.”

Two pro fishermen who admitted to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thousands-of-fing-dollars-you-stole-from-everyone-outrage-at-pro-fishing-tournament-after-winners-allegedly-caught-cheating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stuffing</a> their catches with lead were sentenced to 10-day jail stints Thursday.
Chase Cominsky and Jacob Runyan, both Pennsylvania residents, appeared in a Cleveland, Ohio, court where they were handed down their jail sentences and also told that they would be forced to forfeit their $130,000 boat, Fox 8 <a href="https://fox8.com/news/walleye-tournament-cheaters-facing-sentencing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Cominsky and Runyan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/two-pro-fisherman-plead-guilty-to-felony-charges-for-cheating-in-tournament" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pleaded guilty</a> in March to a felony charge of cheating and a misdemeanor for unlawful ownership of wild animals. 
“I just wanna apologize to everyone,” 36-year-old Cominsky said Thursday. “It’s a bad situation and it’s something I wish I could say it didn’t happen.”
Runyan, 43, said the cheating incident was “the most ignorant decision I’ve ever made in my life” in his apology to the court. 
Last fall, Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyan were declared winners at the weigh-in at the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship (LEWT) in Cleveland. But their opponents immediately discovered something extra fishy about the supposed winning catches. <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/10/01/pro-fishing-champs-cheating-scandal-stuffed-walleye-weights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Video</a> of the incident showed someone cutting open the fish and pulling out what appeared to be lead weights and the filets of another fish that the men had stuffed down the throats of their catches to make them heavier.
“You got thousands of f***ing dollars you stole from everyone!” someone on video accuses the pro fishermen after the discovery. 
Cominsky and Runyan were set to win more than $28,000 in various prize pools when they were caught cheating. 
After serving 10 days in jail, the cheating fishermen will spend a year and a half on probation and pay a $2,500 fine each. Cominsky and Runyan have the option of cutting their fines in half if they donate to a nonprofit organization that promotes fishing with children. Both Cominsky and Runyan’s fishing licenses will be suspended for three years.

The pair had been accused of cheating in previous tournaments, and according to court documents, were investigated in the spring of 2022 for cheating in a separate walleye tournament, but there was not enough evidence to press them with charges. In 2021, Cominsky and Runyan reeled in the top catch for the Lake Erie Fall Brawl, which would have won them $100,000, but they were disqualified. 
“They’re forever gonna be branded with the labels of cheaters and thieves,” <a href="https://fox8.com/news/walleye-tournament-cheaters-facing-sentencing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Assistant County Prosecutor Andrew Rogalski. “After today, they’ll be convicted felons. And nobody should feel bad for them, because they deserve this and they earned this.&#8221;

The Astros, who won the World Series, cheated by using a sign-stealing system in which Astros players in the dugout would watch the live camera feed from center field watching the opposing catcher, decipher what pitch was coming, then bang a trash can when a breaking ball was pitched, but remain silent when a fast ball was coming, as The Athletic <a href="https://theathletic.com/1363451/2019/11/12/the-astros-stole-signs-electronically-in-2017-part-of-a-much-broader-issue-for-major-league-baseball/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“I personally was a proponent of the idea at the time,” Gattis tweeted.  When asked if he knew what pitch would be thrown by New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia when he hit his pinch-hit homer in Game 7 of the 2017 American League Championship Series, Gattis replied, “Yes. I’m pretty sure. Back door cutter slider.”
Gattis also confessed he has used PEDs. When a fan commented, “Was lucky to see you play [left field] 2 of the 11 times you did, in 2015,” Gattis joked, “I can guarantee I was terrified and probably on a performance enhancing drug both times.”
Second baseman Jose Altuve has been accused of using remote buzzers hidden inside his jersey that allowed the dugout to signal what pitch was coming to him, but Gattis wrote, “Honestly I have no idea. It used to be possible and I researched it. If anyone used them they were smart enough to not tell me.”
“I don&#8217;t know if there&#8217;s any truth to the buzzers,” he added. “If there was Altuve wouldn&#8217;t want it anyway. He&#8217;s a reactionary hitter.”
Gattis commented on the 2017 World Series, in which Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was hammered for six runs in Game 5 in Houston. In the 11 innings Kershaw pitched at Dodger Stadium in the World Series, where the Astros eschewed the cheating, Kershaw yielded only one earned run.
“I remember knowing what was coming against Kershaw,” Gattis tweeted. “As a team we swung and missed a handful of times only against him.”
Gattis concluded his Twitter thread, “Aaaaaaand it turns out I say stupid stuff from time to time. Nite.”
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and field manager A. J. Hinch were suspended for the 2020 season for their failure to prevent the rule violations committed by the Astros.

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida</a> high school known for having a prestigious academic program told parents that students have been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cheating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cheating</a> on essays using ChatGPT.
According to an <a href="https://nbc-2.com/news/local/2023/02/15/students-at-cape-coral-high-school-accused-of-using-artificial-intelligence-to-cheat-on-essay/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">email</a> sent to parents by the program coordinator, students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Cape Coral High School are allegedly using the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/artificial-intelligence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AI</a> chat software to generate essays. School district and IB program officials condemned the use of software, but students say the software is already commonplace.
&#8220;Your senior students are in the process of submitting rough and final drafts of their official IB internal assessments in their various subject areas,&#8221; Cape Coral IB program coordinator Katelyn A. Uhler wrote in the letter. &#8220;Recently the use of AI generators has become a major concern. The use of AI generators is a violation of our academic integrity policy&#8230; There have been some IB papers submitted that are questionable in a few ways including being very different styles of writing from previously submitted papers. I have been going into the senior Theory of Knowledge classes with CCHS administration to address this concern and outline the consequences.&#8221;
The school uses an automated software called Turnitin to check for plagiarism on their papers. But Uhler pointed out that AI-generated papers can get around this because they do not generate the same output twice. Instead, the school is using AI detectors and investigating individual students&#8217; laptops to verify their work.
Uhler said she asked students to approach her in private to correct the issue quickly; if not, students could incur more severe consequences. IB teachers need to authenticate all student work in order to complete the program, and IB students need to complete the program in order to earn their high school diploma.
Uhler urged parents to talk to their children at home about the consequences of using AI-generated work.
Officials with both the School District of Lee County and the International Baccalaureate program condemned the use of AI to create work. &#8220;As part of our ongoing cybersecurity efforts, our Information Services team continues to strengthen Chromebook security features to block the use of AI from aiding any student work,&#8221; the district told local news outlet NBC2.
“The use of ChatGPT and any other method which results in a student submitting work that is not their own is against the IB’s academic integrity policy,&#8221; the IB added.
But students at the school told the outlet that they are well aware of ChatGPT.
“I’ve heard a lot about it,&#8221; said student Sophia Fallacara. &#8220;Like, all of the seniors, they’re all talking about it.”
“There’s like a whole controversy about it,” added student Michael Clayton.
In December, a professor at Furman University warned that AI is the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/artificial-intelligence-is-the-future-of-plagiarism-university-professor-warns" target="_blank" rel="noopener">future of plagiarism</a>. “Today, I turned in the first plagiarist I’ve caught using A.I. software to write her work, and I thought some people might be curious about the details,” philosophy professor Darren Hick wrote on Facebook, pointing out ChatGPT specifically.
“Administrations are going to have to develop standards for dealing with these kinds of cases, and they’re going to have to do it FAST,” Hick added. “This is too new. But it’s going to catch on. It would have taken my student about 5 minutes to write this essay using ChatGPT. Expect a flood, people, not a trickle.”

A university professor is warning his administration, and universities across the country, that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/artificial-intelligence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AI chatbots</a> are the future of plagiarism.
In a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/title17/posts/pfbid0DSWaYQVwJxcgSGosS88h7kZn6dA7bmw5ziuRQ5br2JMJcAHCi5Up7EJbJKdgwEZwl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook post</a> earlier this month, Furman University philosophy professor <a href="https://www.furman.edu/people/darren-hick/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Darren Hick</a> recounted his first experience with a student who attempted to use an artificial intelligence chat software to cheat on an assignment. Hick caught the student because the AI&#8217;s work was shoddy and lacked any substance of the course material. However, he said that would not always be the case, and Hick said that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/universities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">universities</a> need to develop ways to stop the use of software to complete assignments.
&#8220;Today, I turned in the first plagiarist I’ve caught using A.I. software to write her work, and I thought some people might be curious about the details,&#8221; Hick wrote on Facebook. The student used an AI chat website called ChatGPT, where users generate prompts and scripts and an AI software generates human-like responses. The prompt the student was given, and that she gave to the software, was to write 500 words about the English philosopher David Hume&#8217;s paradox of horror.
&#8220;ChatGPT responds in seconds with a response that looks like it was written by a human—moreover, a human with a good sense of grammar and an understanding of how essays should be structured,&#8221; Hick wrote. &#8220;In my case, the first indicator that I was dealing with A.I. is that, despite the syntactic coherence of the essay, it made no sense. The essay confidently and thoroughly described Hume’s views on the paradox of horror in a way that was thoroughly wrong. It did say some true things about Hume, and it knew what the paradox of horror was, but it was just bulls***ing after that. To someone who didn’t know what Hume would say about the paradox, it was perfectly readable — even compelling. To someone familiar with the material, it raised any number of flags.&#8221;
The professor concluded that such plagiarism would be easy to spot in high-level philosophy courses where the material is obscure. But for lower-level classes or other disciplines like literature or political science, the software is a &#8220;game-changer.&#8221;
Fortunately, Hick knew about software that could detect the chatbot software, and ran a check of the student&#8217;s essay; the software found a near-certainty that the essay was fake. In experimenting with ChatGPT himself, Hick noticed some of the AI&#8217;s tendencies in composition that could help point out future chatbot-produced essays, but he noted that because the software is based on a neural network that is always learning, it will get better and harder to detect.
&#8220;Administrations are going to have to develop standards for dealing with these kinds of cases, and they’re going to have to do it FAST,&#8221; Hick concluded. &#8220;In my case, the student admitted to using ChatGPT, but if she hadn’t, I can’t say whether all of this would have been enough evidence. This is too new. But it’s going to catch on. It would have taken my student about 5 minutes to write this essay using ChatGPT. Expect a flood, people, not a trickle.&#8221;
Hick added that until his university develops a protocol to stop AI plagiarism, he will attempt to counter it in his own way by giving an impromptu oral exam to a student suspected of using similar software.

A roiling controversy has sprung out in the world of professional cornhole, the game in which players toss bags of resin beads into a hole in slanted boards.
The No.1 ranked doubles team at the 2022 American Cornhole League World Championships in August was accused of cheating in a scenario now referred to as BagGate.
“They’re too small,” color commentator Mark Pryor pointed out when officials inspected the bags of Mark Richards and Philip Lopez. “That’s going to create some drama.”
But then Richards and Lopez asked officials at the event to check their opponents’ bags. They were not proper either.
The American Cornhole League, with roughly 155,000 members, has a contract with ESPN and featured 22,000 events this year, with top players able to make $250,000 per year.
Rules stipulate that the cornhole bag — six by six inches when flat, weighing 16 ounces —  that rests on the board without passing through the hole is awarded one point; a bag thrown through the hole or knocked through by another bag garners three points. The winner is the first player or team to score 21 points.
Since a bag that is thinner and less hefty could be easier to throw through the holes, various techniques and tools have been utilized to alter the resin beads, including vinegar-washing , sandpaper, or hammers. Nate Voyer, a cornhole professional, told <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/cornhole-cheating-scandal-baggate-11667312803?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=Will+SCOTUS+Can+College+Affirmative+Action%3F&amp;utm_campaign=Will+SCOTUS+Can+College+Affirmative+Action%3F">The Wall Street Journal</a> that he knew someone who covered his bag with plywood, then drove his car over it.
“All it takes is one bad apple,” he lamented.
On the Addicted to Cornhole Facebook page, one commenter wrote after the alleged scandal occurred, “I think it’s funny that anyone believed it would be all friendships and rose petals forever in cornhole.&#8221;
&#8220;Now the dirty underbelly is being exposed,” the commenter added.
After the competitors’ bags were examined at the August event, officials at the world championships said that no intentional flouting of the rules had occurred.
“We’ve really had to crack down to make sure that all these bags are to spec,” said ACL spokesman Trey Ryder, acknowledging the ACL will implement random bag checks at tournaments. “Internally we’ve had to invest more into our compliance. &#8230; We believe we are taking a major step,” Mr. Ryder adds.
Cornhole professional Jay Corley told the Journal, “I think we’re going to have to go to having a referee just like any other sport.”
Despite the controversy, Voyer, a former school administrator, enthused, “Now I get money to play a backyard game. Are you kidding me?”

Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyan were declared winners at the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship (LEWT) in Cleveland last month before their fellow competitors found the bizarre items stuffed in their catches. Runyan, 42, and Cominsky, 35, have now been indicted on felony charges of cheating, attempted grand theft, and possessing criminal tools, ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/34783425/prosecutor-fisherman-caught-cheating-tournament-charged" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Video of the alleged cheating incident showed someone cutting open the fish and pulling out lead weights and even the filets of another fish that the men had allegedly stuffed down the throats of their catches to make them heavier.
Multiple people can be heard urging someone to “call the cops” and file a police report over the alleged cheating scandal.

On Tuesday, investigators <a href="https://fox8.com/news/nexstar-media-wire/investigators-seize-boat-from-fisherman-accused-in-cheating-scandal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seized</a> a Ranger Pro Fisherman boat and a trailer from Cominsky&#8217;s Pennsylvania property and took them as evidence. Runyan and Cominsky were also charged with misdemeanors of unlawfully owning wild animals and are scheduled to be arraigned on October 26. The fishermen would have won over $28,000 at the Ohio tournament.
The two fishermen have been accused of cheating in the past, <a href="https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/outdoors/2022/10/01/cheating-scandal-rocks-lake-erie-walleye-tournament/stories/20221001117" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Toledo Blade.
Winners of the tournament receive cash prizes of up to $100,000 and are determined by the weight of their five largest catches, according to the LEWT <a href="https://lakeeriewalleyetrail.com/tournament-rules-bwwc-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>. Another prize goes to the largest single walleye caught. The official Facebook page for the event said the latest incident proved there was cheating during the competition.
“Disgusted guys and gals, I’m sorry for letting you down for so long and I’m glad I caught cheating taking place in YOUR LEWT at the same time,” Tournament Director and police officer Jason Fischer said, adding, “I hope you know now that when I say ‘you built this LEWT and I will defend its integrity at all costs,’ I mean it. You all deserve the best.”
