President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> intends to nominate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/charlie-crist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charlie Crist</a> as an ambassador, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/white-house">White House</a> said on Wednesday.
The announcement comes about seven months after Crist lost his bid to defeat Republican <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida</a> Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a> and reclaim his old job after more than a decade.
In particular, Crist is being picked to be the U.S. representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with the rank of ambassador. The ICAO, an agency of the United Nations which has its headquarters in Montreal, is <a href="https://www.icao.int/about-icao/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">focused</a> on promoting civil aviation safety.
Chesley &#8220;Sully&#8221; Sullenberger, the &#8220;Miracle on the Hudson&#8221; pilot famous for making a 2009 emergency landing in the Hudson River, served as U.S. representative to ICAO after being <a href="https://www.congress.gov/nomination/117th-congress/737" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed by the Senate</a> in late 2021, but he abruptly <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/24/miracle-on-the-hudson-pilot-steps-down-from-international-post.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decided to step down</a> that following summer.
Crist, who has swapped parties over the years, previously served as Florida attorney general, governor, and then as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He <a href="https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/08/31/charlie-crist-resigns-from-congress-as-campaign-for-governor-heats-up/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resigned</a> from Congress in late August after beating Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in the Democratic Party&#8217;s primary in the governor&#8217;s race.
Despite receiving a <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/biden-desantis-trump-incarnate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">campaign boost</a> from Biden, who called the Florida gubernatorial election “one of the most important races in the country,&#8221; Crist <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/11/08/us/elections/results-florida-governor.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost by double digits</a> to DeSantis.

Its statement also touted how Crist &#8220;guided the state through challenging times, including the Great Recession and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill&#8221; as Florida governor.
&#8220;Despite drastic budget shortfalls due to the economic crisis, he made public education a top priority, steering federal stimulus funding to save thousands of teachers’ jobs,&#8221; the White House added. &#8220;He is also a staunch environmental advocate, working at the federal and state levels to help secure billions in public and private aid to restore the Florida Everglades.&#8221;

Former President Donald Trump faced backlash online Monday for praising failed Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist in a video attacking Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
&#8220;For those of you that didn&#8217;t notice, Florida was doing great long before Ron DeSanctus got there,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;People are fleeing from New York to Florida and other places because of high taxes and out of control crime. It&#8217;s really bad. Not because of the governor, thank you Mr. President for doing that.&#8221;
&#8220;But it&#8217;s not because of the governor, Florida was doing fantastically,&#8221; Trump continued. &#8220;You had a governor named Rick Scott who did a very good job. Even Charlie Crist, a Democrat, did a good job and he had very good numbers.&#8221;
DeSantis crushed Crist in last year&#8217;s elections by a whopping 19.4 points with a margin of 1.5 million votes, the most dominant win in Florida gubernatorial history.

Trump faced widespread backlash across the political Right over his latest attack on DeSantis.

DeSantis, 44, a former congressman and U.S. Navy veteran of the war in Iraq, never trailed in polls, holding a lead that reached double digits in early October following his acclaimed handling of Hurricane Ian and its aftermath. DeSantis, who in his first term became one of the nation’s most high-profile governors, was secure enough in the Sunshine State and in demand enough in others that he spent much of the weeks leading up to the election campaigning for fellow Republicans around the nation.
&#8220;We have embraced freedom,&#8221; DeSantis said in a victory speech to supporters. &#8220;We have maintained law and order. We have protected the rights of parents. We have respected our taxpayers, and we reject woke ideology.
&#8220;We will never ever surrender to the woke mob,&#8221; he continued, his voice rising. &#8220;Florida is where woke goes to die!&#8221;

The early call was indicative of a large victory margin, and affirmation of DeSantis’ bareknuckle style following a first-term, narrow win over Andrew Gillum four years ago. DeSantis, who famously kept his state’s economy and public schools open while others closed during the COVID pandemic, sparred frequently with the media, both directly and through his no-holds-barred media team. His national stature was further elevated when he brought attention to President Joe Biden’s porous border policies by flying illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, making the island elites deal first-hand with a problem plaguing Florida and other states.
In his victory speech, DeSantis noted his refusal to force businesses and schools to shut down during the COVID pandemic and his tough stance against crime. Both factors have brought a flood of new residents who fled blue states such as New York and California.
&#8220;We chose facts over fear, we chose education over indoctrination,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We chose law and order over rioting and disorder. Florida was a refuge of sanity when the world went mad. We stood as a citadel for freedom for people across this country.&#8221;
The Yale and Harvard Law-educated governor’s leadership was on full display as Hurricane Ian bore down on Florida’s Gulf Coast in the final days of September. DeSantis <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/time-to-hunker-down-ron-desantis-warns-floridians-in-immediate-path-of-hurricane/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">instructed citizens</a> to hunker down and <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/ron-desantis-delivers-blunt-message-for-those-thinking-about-looting-in-wake-of-hurricane/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned would-be looters</a> they would be dealt with harshly. When the storm passed, the nation was stunned to see power quickly restored and emergency road and bridge repairs for Pine Island completed in less than three days. A frequently antagonistic media was unable to find any substantive basis for criticizing his handling of the devastating storm.
An <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/01/politics/ron-desantis-florida-hurricane-ian-politics/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">October 1 CNN</a> article noted DeSantis’ “painstaking command of rescue and recovery logistics” in the wake of Ian and quoted veteran Democratic strategist Steve Schale offering grudging praise.
“He’s doing what he’s supposed to do which is focus on being governor,” Schale said. “And he’s saying and doing all the right things.”
In addition to handling the COVID pandemic and Hurricane Ian with a no-nonsense style that made him a darling of conservatives around the country, DeSantis waded unapologetically into cultural issues. He <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-follows-through-will-sign-bill-today-hank-berrien" target="_blank" rel="noopener">banned sanctuary cities</a>, <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/desantis-fights-back-will-sign-order-protecting-rights-of-parents-on-masks-for-children/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resisted mask mandates</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gov-ron-desantis-promises-to-oppose-any-fl-school-board-candidates-who-support-critical-race-theory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opposed</a> the teaching of Critical Race Theory in public schools, and consistently battled the transgressive policies of the Left.
DeSantis, who has generally been a supporter of former President Trump even as his growing popularity seemed to grate on the 45th commander-in-chief and Florida resident, has been guarded about his future plans. But his easy victory in a key state, popularity with Hispanic voters, and growing national stature could make for interesting twists and turns over the next two years.
An <a href="https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2022-10/Topline%20ABC_Ipsos%20Poll%20October%2022%202022.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News/Ipsos poll</a> conducted in late October asked voters how much influence various famous Republicans should have on the future direction of the Republican Party. Some 72% of respondents named DeSantis as someone they would like to have a “great deal or good amount” of influence over the future direction of the party. Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz finished second and third, with 64% and 63%, respectively.
Crist, who was a Republican until 2010, served as state attorney general under former Governor Jeb Bush, then became governor from 2007-2011. While still serving as governor, he ran for Senate in 2010, lost the primary to Marco Rubio, and became an Independent to stay in the race. In 2012, he switched to the Democratic Party, lost a bid for governor and then was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016.
Despite his extensive, if mixed, experience in campaigning for public office, Crist caused head-scratching throughout his campaign against DeSantis. He recently called for wearing masks on planes again, and made several statements that were not likely vetted by advisers.
“Those who support the governor should stay with him and vote for him, and I don’t want your vote,” he said in August. “If you have that hate in your heart, keep it there!”
In September, after <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/florida-gubernatorial-candidate-charlie-crist-portrays-himself-as-jesus-christ-fighting-against-desatan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, “This is an election about decency,” Crist called DeSantis “DeSatan” while comparing his last name to Jesus Christ.
The race was <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/democrats-signal-florida-is-lost-after-desantis-meteoric-rise-its-over-and-its-going-to-be-ugly/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">essentially conceded</a> by Democrats two weeks before the election. A <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/27/florida-democrats-facing-brutal-midterms-00063666" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from Politico noted that the Democratic Governors Association spent just $685,000 this election cycle as opposed to the $14 million it gave to Florida in the past two gubernatorial contests. Democrats had collectively raised $29 million in the four non-federal statewide races while Republicans raised nearly $200 million.

Despite traveling up and down Florida&#8217;s east coast — and stopping in areas of the state that President <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> won in the 2020 presidential election — &#8220;CBS Mornings&#8221; apparently struggled to find even one person who was supporting Democratic gubernatorial hopeful <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/charlie-crist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charlie Crist</a>.
According to a report that aired on Tuesday, the network sent a crew to Florida ahead of the midterm election — which includes, in addition to a number of other hotly-contested races, the contest between Crist and incumbent Governor <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a> (R-FL) — and that crew learned that even in cities that favored Biden two years ago, Crist was not terribly popular.

As part of a segment labeled &#8220;Three Meals in Florida,&#8221; &#8220;CBS Mornings&#8221; host Tony Dokoupil sat down with voters in three different cities — Miami, Melbourne, and Jacksonville — and talked to them about the issues that mattered most with the election imminent.
And the overall assessment, Dokoupil noted, was that there was little to no support for Charlie Crist.
&#8220;I gotta point out that once we started digesting our food and digesting the day, we realized that on that day-long trip we spoke to dozens of people up and down the coast of Florida — all in precincts, by the way, that voted for President Biden in 2020,&#8221; he said, adding, &#8220;But to our surprise, we did not run into a supporter of Ron DeSantis&#8217; Democratic opponent — that would be Charlie Crist.&#8221;
Dokoupil did speak to at least one person who said he had not voted for DeSantis in the past, and did not plan to vote for him in the midterm either, but he still believed the Republican governor had been &#8220;unfairly vilified&#8221; in the media and on the national stage. He did not say that he planned to vote for Crist — or whether he planned to vote at all.
One woman was careful to point out the fact that Cuban-Americans tended to vote Republican in larger numbers than Latino voters in general — and she referred to DeSantis, in a positive fashion, as &#8220;a beast.&#8221;
&#8220;I like the way he does everything,&#8221; she said with a smile, voicing support for DeSantis&#8217; efforts to transplant illegal migrants from Florida to sanctuary jurisdictions like Martha&#8217;s Vineyard. &#8220;I&#8217;m an immigrant, but I came legal. I believe in legal immigration. I don&#8217;t believe in illegal immigration.&#8221;

DeSantis, according to <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/governor/fl/florida_governor_desantis_vs_crist-7324.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealClearPolitics</a>, has a healthy lead on Crist and is projected to retain his office in November&#8217;s election. The polling average gives him a ten-point lead on Crist, and the two most recent polls show DeSantis leading Crist by more than twice the margin of error.

Scores of colleagues and staff who worked for Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist in the past issued an open letter to the people of Florida in which they endorsed Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis.
Many if not all of the signers worked for Crist in his previous incarnation as a Republican, when he served as Florida’s governor between 2007-2011. After he ran for the Senate but lost in the GOP primary to Marco Rubio, Crist changed his affiliation to independent to run in the general election again against Rubio, who defeated him again. In December 2012, Crist changed his affiliation yet again, joining the Democratic Party and endorsing Barack Obama for reelection.
The signatories of the letter began by writing, “An Open Letter to Florida: The undersigned represent former colleagues and staff of Charlie Crist. Together, we have known Charlie in virtually all phases of his career and public life. We are well-qualified to endorse in the Florida Governors’ race because we have significant experience in public service to the state of Florida.”
“The choice in November could not be more clear: we unanimously endorse Governor Ron DeSantis for reelection,” they stated bluntly.
“Governor DeSantis has delivered for Florida,” they continued. “He has led our state with courage and conviction. He has demonstrated his ability to lead us through difficult times. We stand with Governor DeSantis because the stakes are too high. We urge Florida to re-elect Ron DeSantis as our Governor.”
The signatories include former Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp, who was Crist’s running mate when Crist successfully ran for governor in 2006 as a Republican; Charles Bronson, who served under Crist as Commissioner of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Bill McCollum, who was elected Florida’s Attorney General in 2006, and Ken Pruitt, who served as President of the Florida Senate starting in Novemmber 2006, as well as 32 others.

A <a href="https://business.fau.edu/departments/economics/business-economics-polling/bepi-polls/bepi-polls-2022/florida-governor-race.php">Florida Atlantic University poll</a> conducted between October 12-16 showed DeSantis with an enormous 11-point advantage over Crist. DeSantis had a 56% favorable/38% unfavorable rating while Crist was underwater with a 41% favorable/47% unfavorable rating.
Additionally, the poll found that in a hypothetical match-up between DeSantis and President Biden, DeSantis led 48% to 42%; former President Trump led Biden 45% to 41%.
The significance of the margin of dominance DeSantis is displaying in Florida can be understood by reviewing Florida’s incredibly close gubernatorial elections in the past; in 2010, GOP candidate Rick Scott defeated his Democratic opponent, Alex Sink, 49%-48%.
In 2014, as the incumbent, Scott ran against Crist. Scott eked out a victory over Crist in 2014, 48%-47%.
In 2018, DeSantis squeaked through by a tiny 40,000 votes over Democrat Andrew Gillum in an election in which over 8.2 million votes were cast, a difference of 0.4%.

Florida Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis">Ron DeSantis</a> (R) ripped Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) during a gubernatorial debate Monday night after Crist repeatedly tried to make speculation that DeSantis would run for president in 2024 an issue during the debate.

DeSantis has dominated political fundraising in recent years, raising more money for his political operation than any other governor in U.S. history. He has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-shatters-all-time-fundraising-record-gives-money-to-republican-candidates">raised</a> so much money that he has out-raised all other potential 2024 presidential candidates in both the Democratic and Republican parties.
&#8220;Well listen I know that Charlie&#8217;s interested in talking about 2024 and Joe Biden but I just want to make things very, very clear the only worn out old donkey I&#8217;m looking to put out to pasture is Charlie Crist,&#8221; DeSantis fired back.

Crist continued to bring up the issue later in the debate but it never gained traction or altered the course of the debate.
Earlier in the debate, Crist attacked DeSantis&#8217; handling of the state&#8217;s responses to Hurricane Ian, which sparked a strong response from the governor.
“Look, I’m proud that we had 42,000 linemen staged, ready to go, an unprecedented array of first responders,” DeSantis said during the debate. “We were able to get in in a record time, effectuate thousands of rescues, get the power back on for millions of people in record time.”
“And when the bridges got wiped out in Pine Island and in Sanibel people thought those islands were going to be severed from the mainland for six months to a year, we did the Pine Island Restoration in three days and we did the Sanibel causeway restoration in two weeks,” DeSantis continued. “Now those islands have the ability to recover.”
DeSantis then turned his focus to Crist and what Crist was doing during and after the hurricane hit the state.
“You know what he was doing during this? He was hiding out in Puerto Rico,” DeSantis said. “He wasn’t helping his community here. And then when he got back, what did he do? His campaign was <a href="https://twitter.com/TommyHicksGOP/status/1577359398485245968">soliciting</a> campaign contributions from storm victims. That is unacceptable and that’s not what a leader would do and a time of despair.”

Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/barack-obama" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barack Obama</a> took a passive shot at Florida Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a> (R) in an endorsement video Friday of DeSantis&#8217; gubernatorial opponent Charlie Crist (D).
“Hey Florida, we have a lot of work to do. And it starts with making Charlie Crist your next governor,” Obama said, adding, “So if you’re ready for a governor who cares about people instead of bullying them, who will fight for voting rights, and a woman’s right to choose, who understands the challenges you’re facing every day, and who will fight for you — vote for Charlie Crist.”
Obama&#8217;s remarks are laughable considering Crist has referred to DeSantis using derogatory language, including calling the governor &#8220;DeSatan.&#8221;

WESH 2 News <a href="https://www.wesh.com/article/desantis-crist-governor-race/41739843" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> that DeSantis picked up numerous endorsements on the same day, including the National Federation of Independent Business Florida PAC, the Florida Trucking Association PAC, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida, and the Florida Home Builders Association.
“It’s wonderful to have these endorsements here today,&#8221; DeSantis said. &#8220;And I think particularly on this day when we have the state-by-state unemployment numbers put out. Florida’s unemployment rate is now 2.5%.&#8221;
DeSantis said that this was the first time in 88 years that the Florida Trucking Association PAC has ever made a political endorsement.
Obama previously <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-campaigns-for-andrew-gillum-and-bill-nelson-in-florida-11-02-2018-live-stream/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">campaigned</a> for DeSantis&#8217; last opponent, disgraced Democrat Andrew Gillum, in the 2018 election.
Just a couple of years later in 2020, Gillum, who is married and has children, was found in a hotel room with a male escort and suspected baggies of crystal meth.
Gillum was charged in federal court this summer with 21 felonies related to his failed 2018 Florida gubernatorial campaign.
“A federal grand jury has returned a twenty-one count indictment against Andrew Demetric Gillum, 42, and Sharon Janet Lettman-Hicks, 53, both of Tallahassee, Florida,” the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida said in a statement.
“The Indictment alleges that between 2016 and 2019, defendants Gillum and Lettman-Hicks conspired to commit wire fraud, by unlawfully soliciting and obtaining funds from various entities and individuals through false and fraudulent promises and representations that the funds would be used for a legitimate purpose,” the statement said. “The Indictment further alleges the defendants used third parties to divert a portion of those funds to a company owned by Lettman-Hicks, who then fraudulently provided the funds, disguised as payroll payments, to Gillum for his personal use.”
“Both defendants are charged with 19 counts of wire fraud,” the statement added. “Gillum is also charged with making false statements to agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
If found guilty, Gillum faces up to five years in prison for making false statements, 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and 20 years in prison per charge for wire fraud.

Karla Hernandez-Mats, the running mate of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida</a> gubernatorial candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/charlie-crist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charlie Crist</a> (D), is facing backlash after videos surfaced showing her effectively mocking special needs students as &#8220;dysfunctional.&#8221;
Hernandez-Mats suggested during a campaign event in Cape Coral that she was qualified to be state&#8217;s next lieutenant governor because she used to be a special education teacher.
&#8220;I&#8217;m a teacher, I am a sp-ed teacher, so my major was emotionally-handicapped education, okay? Hernandez-Mats is the president of the Miami-Dade County teachers union and has a history of making highly controversial remarks.
She previously claimed in a tweet that &#8220;many in Cuba mourn[ed]&#8221; the death of oppressive communist dictator Fidel Castro.
She recently <a href="https://flvoicenews.com/crist-running-mate-karla-hernandez-mats-deletes-tweet-saying-many-mourn-castros-death-then-compared-desantis-to-castro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deleted</a> the tweet after it resurfaced and sparked a headache for the campaign.
The Daily Wire published an interview with Casey DeSantis on Wednesday in which Florida&#8217;s first lady launched a campaign to unite mother&#8217;s against the political Left&#8217;s extreme agenda.
“It’s one thing when you come after a mama,” Casey DeSantis said in an interview with The Daily Wire following her “Mamas for DeSantis” event in Coral Gables. “It’s another thing if you come after her kids.”

In the past week, the Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat labeled half of his constituents as &#8220;haters,&#8221; tapped a teachers union leader as his second in command, and defended President Joe Biden after he called half of the country &#8220;semi-fascists.&#8221;

We&#8217;ll focus on Crist&#8217;s latest comments on Monday first, then break down the rest of the peculiar campaign strategy.
While appearing on CNN, Crist claimed that the president was just being &#8220;honest&#8221; when he labeled &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; as a bunch of semi-fascists threats to the rule of law.
&#8220;I think what&#8217;s important is to state the facts as they are,&#8221; Crist said in response to a clip of Biden&#8217;s comments. &#8220;He&#8217;s gotta be honest and express what he feels in his heart and his soul, and I think that&#8217;s probably exactly what he did.&#8221;
In the words of Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro, &#8220;Facts don&#8217;t care about your feelings.&#8221; Biden feeling &#8220;in his heart&#8221; that MAGA Republicans (which appear to account for large swath of the GOP) are semi-fascists doesn&#8217;t make it so. Furthermore, is Crist aware that Trump carried Florida in both 2016 and 2020? Why would Sunshine State voters support a man who won&#8217;t defend them from being blasted as semi-fascists?
Well, the answer to that question lies in Crist&#8217;s public comments about voters who support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R): He&#8217;s told them that he doesn&#8217;t even want their votes.
“Those who support the governor should stay with him and vote for him, and I don’t want your vote,” Crist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-dont-want-your-vote-florida-democrat-celebrates-primary-win-by-alienating-half-the-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> earlier this week. “If you have that hate in your heart, keep it there!”
“I want the vote of the people of Florida who care about our state: good Democrats, good independents, good Republicans,” Crist added. “Unify with this ticket. Unify with Val Demings and Charlie Crist. Unify with us. Those who are haters? You’re going to go off in your own world, and you better get right.”
But that strategy could backfire, and in a big way. According to one poll, DeSantis is <a href="https://floridapolitics.com/archives/552047-poll-shows-ron-desantis-underwater-with-independents/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beating</a> Crist by 5 percentage points. In 2018, DeSantis earned 4,076,186 votes. Since then, more Republicans have entered the state.
What kind of a candidate tells more than four million people to not vote for him?
Likewise, just days after Miami-Dade <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/year-of-the-parent-conservative-school-board-candidates-gain-control-in-key-florida-counties" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elected</a> a conservative school board — populated with DeSantis-endorsed candidates — Crist chose the president of the Dade Teachers Union to be his running mate. Karla Hernández-Mats, the teachers union president, is outspokenly against DeSantis&#8217;s anti-woke agenda.
&#8220;Teachers didn&#8217;t go into this profession to be politicized. We&#8217;re truth-tellers,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.axios.com/local/miami/2022/08/29/charlie-crist-karla-hernandez-mats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> CBS this summer. &#8220;We don&#8217;t believe in banning books …We see all these different culture wars from Governor DeSantis and really extreme legislators in Tallahassee that are impacting our school system.&#8221;
Crist seems to think those sorts of stances will help his chances.
Yet a recent poll indicates that, actually, Florida residents — especially Hispanic voters and blue-collar workers — appear to side with DeSantis in the fight against the cultural attacks from the Left.
USA Today recently <a href="https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/politics/2022/08/24/poll-florida-desantis-culture-war-voters/10352673002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that a &#8220;Florida survey found that 52% of Florida voters approve of the governor’s focus on culture issues — such as gender identity, sexual orientation and race — in schools and businesses and 47% disapprove.&#8221;
Democrats overwhelmingly oppose those efforts, yet 52% of independents support him. Furthermore, a whopping 54% of voters without a college degree and 60% of Hispanic voters support him as well.
The thing about Crist is that he has never been driven by ideological principles. It isn&#8217;t as if he has held these Leftist views his entire career like Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) or former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
He appears to be far more driven more by whatever he thinks can get him elected than any adherence to specific political platform.
All that being said, why wouldn&#8217;t he fake political views that are more aligned with Florida voters?

What Kind Of Moron Is Charlie Crist? Florida Democrat Presents The Worst Week Ever In Campaigning

It has been quite the week for civility in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden&#8217;s America</a> as Democrats up and down the East Coast likened <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/republican-party">Republicans</a> to haters and &#8220;semi-fascists.&#8221; One governor even told Republicans to get out and move to <a href="https://www.ailywire.com/topic/florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida</a> — which honestly doesn&#8217;t sound like the worst idea.
The messaging makes it clear that the Democratic Party has no interest in working together with half of the country (as if it wasn&#8217;t obvious before).
Nonetheless, here is a brief recap of some of the messages of love from our left-leaning leaders as of late.
We&#8217;ll start with &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-brass-barred-agents-from-probing-hunters-laptop-whistleblowers-tell-lawmaker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Big Guy</a>&#8221; himself, President Joe Biden. This week, Biden blasted former President Donald Trump and anybody who agrees with his version of conservatism.
&#8220;What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/25/biden-trump-philosophy-semi-fascism-00053831" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on Monday.
&#8220;It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something, it’s like semi-fascism,&#8221; he added.
Biden also said this week, &#8220;I respect conservative Republicans. I don’t respect these MAGA Republicans.”
“There are not many real Republicans anymore,” the president noted.
Thursday evening, Biden again <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-maga-republicans-semi-fascism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">compared</a> &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; to semi-fascism. When asked by a reporter what he meant by &#8220;semi-fascism,&#8221; Biden said with a smirk, &#8220;You know what I mean.&#8221;

Actually, many people did not know what he meant, which is why a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if Biden actually meant the provocative term.
&#8220;You look at the definition of fascism and you think about what they&#8217;re doing in attacking our democracy, what they are doing in taking away our freedoms, taking away, wanting to take away our rights, our voting rights,&#8221; Jean-Pierre said in defense of her boss.
&#8220;That is what that is,&#8221; Jean-Pierre added. &#8220;It is very clear, and that&#8217;s why he made that powerful speech that you heard from him last night. And he has not shied away from saying that. Maybe he has not used that specific word, but you have heard him certainly use that definition.&#8221;

So, if you are a part of the <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2024/president/us/2024_republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">51.2% or so of GOP primary voters</a> who support Trump in 2024, then the White House is basically saying you support semi-fascism.
That figure is based on the RealClearPolitics polling average for the 2024 GOP primary. The next closest guy in that poll is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Well, bad news for DeSantis fans, Florida&#8217;s gubernatorial Democratic nominee Charlie Crist thinks you are a hater. He does not even want your vote.
“Those who support the governor should stay with him and vote for him, and I don’t want your vote,” Crist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-dont-want-your-vote-florida-democrat-celebrates-primary-win-by-alienating-half-the-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> earlier this week. “If you have that hate in your heart, keep it there!”
“I want the vote of the people of Florida who care about our state: good Democrats, good independents, good Republicans,” Crist added. “Unify with this ticket. Unify with Val Demings and Charlie Crist. Unify with us. Those who are haters? You’re going to go off in your own world, and you better get right.”

Yet there is also not-so-great news for Crist. He might have to deal with a lot more &#8220;haters.&#8221;
On Monday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) told her GOP opponents to pack up and head to The Sunshine State.
&#8220;And we are here to say that the era of Trump, and Zeldin and Molinaro, just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong, ok?&#8221; Hochul <a href="https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/politics/2022/08/26/hochul-defends-controversial-remarks-about-zeldin-leaving-new-york" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in reference to her gubernatorial opponent Representative Lee Zeldin (R-NY), as well as GOP congressional candidate Marcus Molinaro. &#8220;Get out of town. Because you do not represent our values. You are not New Yorkers.&#8221;
Some took that to mean that Hochul was telling all 5.4 million GOP New York voters to leave. For her part, she defended herself, saying, &#8220;I referred to three individuals: Donald Trump, County Executive Molinaro, and Congressman Lee Zeldin. I spoke about three people whose views we believe are extreme. They supported the overturning of a presidential election.&#8221;
Molinaro lost Tuesday evening, but it would stand to reason that if you support any of those three individuals, Hochul might also find your views &#8220;extreme.&#8221;
All of this fiery rhetoric, of course, starts at the top with Biden.
The president <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2021/01/20/inaugural-address-by-president-joseph-r-biden-jr/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proclaimed</a> on his inauguration day that America &#8220;can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature.&#8221;
&#8220;For without unity, there is no peace, only bitterness and fury,&#8221; he added. &#8220;No progress, only exhausting outrage. No nation, only a state of chaos. This is our historic moment of crisis and challenge, and unity is the path forward.&#8221;
Of course, most Republicans knew that he was full of it at the time. After all, Biden is the same man who <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/vp-biden-says-republicans-are-going-to-put-yall-back-in-chains" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> a group of Democrats, including many black voters, that then 2012 GOP president and vice presidential nominees Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, and the GOP at large, were going to put them &#8220;back in chains.&#8221;
After this week, if there are any GOP voters who still think that Biden actually wants unity, well, I&#8217;ve got a bridge from New York to Florida to sell you.
