A 38-year-old Alabama man who traveled to Southern California with a cache of weapons and ammunition, claiming to be the &#8220;Angel of Death,&#8221; was arrested after threatening a Catholic monastery, according to prosecutors.
Joshua Michael Richardson was charged on Wednesday with felony criminal threats and possession of six high-capacity gun magazines, brass knuckles, and a sword, the Los Angeles Times <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-09-04/heavily-armed-angel-of-death-from-alabama-charged-with-threatening-socal-church">reported</a>. Richardson sent a disturbing email to St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado Canyon, California, on August 19, saying that he was &#8220;rider of the pale horse,&#8221; who personifies death in the book of Revelation, and threatening to &#8220;do the Lord&#8217;s reaping&#8221; at the monastery. He also claimed to be Michael the Archangel, the &#8220;Angel of Death,&#8221; from the Bible, according to prosecutors.
Silverado Canyon is a small, unincorporated community in eastern Orange County, nestled within the Santa Ana Mountains about 55 miles southeast of downtown L.A.
Along with the high-capacity magazines and sword, investigators also discovered knives, body armor, and a stun gun in Richardson&#8217;s truck. It does not appear that the Alabama man had a firearm in his possession when he was arrested.
The L.A. Times reported that Richardson allegedly attended a service at St. Michael’s Abbey on August 26 and then followed the priest into a private area. He told the priest that “he came to do the Lord’s work, to separate the weak from the weeds, and that he rode his white pale horse from Alabama,” prosecutors said.
Richardson reportedly added that he wanted to target St. Michael&#8217;s Abbey because it still celebrates Michaelmas, which recognizes St. Michael with a feast on September 29. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department received a report about the threats two days after Richardson attended the service at the monastery, and arrested him. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
Law enforcement urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
&#8220;While incidents like this can feel unsettling, they also highlight the power of community. If something seems off, say something. Trust your instincts and report suspicious activity, whether it is a strange message, unusual behavior, or something that does not sit right,&#8221; the sheriff&#8217;s department said.
“No one should have to worship in fear that a stranger would walk through the door with the intent to carry out their own day of judgment and determine who lives and who dies,” added Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “A threat on one house of worship is an attack on every place of worship, and we refuse to allow threats and terror to dissuade any person from practicing their faith without fear.”
Richardson was arrested shortly after a Catholic school in Minneapolis was attacked by a trans-identifying shooter. FBI Director Kash Patel <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kash-patel-says-minneapolis-school-shooting-was-an-act-of-domestic-terrorism">said</a> that the Minneapolis shooter, identified as 22-year-old Robin Westman, held anti-Catholic and antisemitic views. Westman killed two children and wounded more than a dozen others after opening fire at Annunciation Catholic School during Mass last Wednesday.

Medical organizations that have backed irreversible transgender procedures on kids are facing pressure after a transgender-identifying man murdered two children and injured 18 others at a Catholic school in Minnesota on Wednesday.
The shooter who attacked the school was identified as “Robin” Westman, a 23-year-old man who started identifying as female as a minor. Westman, who previously went by Robert, left behind a series of writings that described his regret in identifying as transgender, exhibited a hatred of Christians and Jews, and a desire to kill young kids. He killed himself after spraying bullets into a group of students gathered for a Mass.
Portions of Westman’s journal, which were scribbled in a mix of Russian Cyrillic script and English, were translated by the New York Post and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wish-i-never-brain-washed-myself-minnesota-school-shooter-said-he-was-tired-of-being-trans?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=‘Wish+I+Never+Brain-Washed+Myself’%3A+Minnesota+School+Shooter+Said+He+Was+‘Tired+Of+Being+Trans’">revealed</a> his dark thoughts as he struggled with his transgender identity.
“I only keep [long hair] because it is pretty much my last shred of being trans. I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,” Westman reportedly wrote.
In another section of his journal, Westman reportedly wrote, “I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it. I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.”
Westman’s journal entries cast doubt on the assertions of many major medical organizations that have claimed that regret rates for those who attempt to change their sex are incredibly low. The footage published this week by Shapiro showed both Mukkamala and Dr. Jesse Krikorian, a transgender-identifying woman offered up as an expert by the American Medical Association, claiming that about just 2% of people regret undergoing transgender procedures. They made those claims in two separate conversations with Michigan Republican state Rep. Brad Paquette.
The 2% regret rate comes from a <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33968550/">study</a> that only measured regret after surgery, not the tens of thousands of kids who have been placed on puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones. It also did not measure regret beyond two years after the initial surgery. The study also had an extremely high drop-out rate of almost 40%, making the data practically meaningless.
Shapiro said that Westman’s disturbing journal entries should be shown to leadership of the American Medical Association.
“The AMA must stop endorsing the process of having mentally ill young people meet with woke, affirmation-driven social workers and put on a medical transition path that can never actually change their sex,” Shapiro said on X.
The call was echoed by billionaire Elon Musk, who retweeted Shapiro’s thread and wrote “yes” in response to the post. Musk has told The Daily Wire that he was once &#8220;tricked&#8221; into approving so-called gender-affirming care for his child, and described his son as &#8220;killed by the woke mind virus.&#8221;
Lawmakers are also calling for an end to pushing kids down the transgender pipeline.

“They have been encouraging this type of confusion. This poor young man was tortured. He clearly had serious mental health issues and rather than actually helping him, they were actually exacerbating it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You look at the sadness of these tortured human beings — because they do have regrets later — and no, we should have never started it. It should not be allowed.&#8221;

WASHINGTON — Federal authorities arrested a young person on Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C., who had threatened violence toward a school, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed during Thursday&#8217;s press briefing.
Following the briefing, a White House official shared data with The Daily Wire that clarified the juvenile was arrested in Ward 7 for threats to kidnap and injure, as well as receiving stolen property, possession of a large capacity feeding device, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Authorities executed a search warrant and recovered 7 firearms from this juvenile, who was arrested &#8220;after an investigation was initiated based on social media posts allegedly threatening violence toward a school.&#8221;
Leavitt shared the news of the arrest after being asked by Iris Tao, a White House reporter for New Tang Dynasty Television, about American parents who might be concerned for their children&#8217;s safety after the Minneapolis shooting, which took place Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m., when a transgender-identifying man named Robert Westman fired through the windows of the Annunciation Catholic School’s church in Minneapolis as students attended daily mass on their first day of school.
He killed two children, ages 8 and 10, injuring 17 others before he shot himself in the parking lot.

&#8220;We completely and totally understand the concerns of parents across the country,&#8221; Leavitt responded. &#8220;This tragedy is heartbreaking, as a parent myself, there are no words to describe just the heartbreak that these families must be enduring, which is why the president and the first lady have encouraged everyone to continue to pray for these families and these victims and it’s why this administration is focused on removing public safety threats from our communities.&#8221;
&#8220;This was a juvenile who was a risk to not just himself but the community here in Washington and he was removed from the community last night because of the law enforcement efforts of this administration,&#8221; Leavitt said.

The press secretary also pointed to the statement that First Lady Melania Trump put out on Wednesday, saying that the &#8220;tragic mass killing in Minnesota illuminates the need for preemptive intervention in identifying school shooters. Early warning signs are often evident with many individuals exhibiting concerning behaviors and making violent threats online prior to their actions.&#8221;
&#8220;We encourage all Americans, as the old saying goes, if you see something, say something,&#8221; Leavitt emphasized. &#8220;If you see warning signs or threats reported to law enforcement, this administration, federal law enforcement will take those reports and threats seriously. They will be treated as a law-enforcement emergency and we will act accordingly.&#8221;

The arrest of the juvenile Wednesday night in D.C. was one of 105 arrests that night, including 32 illegal aliens. That brings the total arrests in Washington, D.C., to 1,283 since August 7 when President Donald Trump&#8217;s enforcement efforts began.
Authorities arrested a known Sur-13 gang member on Wednesday evening, and many of the other illegal aliens arrested had prior criminal histories for assault, battery on a family member, driving under the influence, fleeing detention and injuring officers upon recapture.
Other Wednesday night arrests were for assault on a federal officer, assault with attempt to rob, possession with the intent to distribute, theft, carrying a pistol without a license, domestic violence, assault with a dangerous weapon, and more.
Authorities also located a missing child and turned that child over to local authorities, the White House official shared with The Daily Wire.

I don&#8217;t mention the names of mass shooters. One of the reasons I don&#8217;t is because — as with regard to the mass shooter at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis — mass shooters take inspiration from one another. They look for publicity.
Social science tends to support this: If you deprive mass shooters of notoriety, if you deprive them of name recognition, it doesn&#8217;t spawn as many mass shooters in the future.
But I will use the first name of the shooter here because it&#8217;s important to the story.
The first name of the shooter is purportedly Robin. I say purportedly because the shooter&#8217;s original name was not Robin. The shooter&#8217;s original name was Robert. This is important to the story because this person was a trans radical who believed — as deeply as it is possible to believe — in what can best be termed the Omnicause: The gigantic aggregation of radical Left-wing beliefs, that if you buy into one, you have to buy into all.
When you look at the evidence from the crime, if you look at the actual guns used which had Left-wing radical slogans etched into them or painted on them; if you look at the shooter&#8217;s diaries, documents left behind, and videos, what you will see is a massive number of Left-wing propagandistic slogans, which speaks to the radicalization that happens online.
It also speaks to the fact that people who are emotionally disturbed buy into a broader worldview that promotes violence. It suggests that you are living in a world where you have no control or that shadowy forces control everything about you and your life. And this means that out of despair and enervation, you&#8217;re going to go commit horrific acts of violence.
That pattern, repeated across school shooters — and they don’t have to be trans — embodies a deep embeddedness in conspiracy theories about the world; a belief that they themselves are wronged by the world, that the world has done some wrong to them, and they are going to take it out on the world, on the most innocent, in order to gain attention for their particular agenda.

So who was the shooter?
In his deranged writings, he gleefully fantasizes about being that scary, horrible monster standing over those powerless kids and speaks of his admiration for the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre. There are many shooters that are mentioned by this shooter in his manifesto, in his videos, painted on the guns themselves, which is the reason I&#8217;m not mentioning the full name of the shooter.
The shooter applied to change his birth name from Robert to Robin in Dakota County, Minnesota, when he was 17 years-old, according to the court documents. That name change was granted in January 2020. The application happened when he was a minor, which means that his parents had to sign off on it. The petition added that the shooter “identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.”
A perverse ideology that masks true mental illness as simply a result of society&#8217;s intolerance promotes serious, depressive, violent mental illness. Ignoring mental illness does not make it go away. Pretending that mental illness is something else — that it&#8217;s merely a rebellion against the strictures of a conservative and patriarchal society — is a lie and promotes mental illness, sometimes violent mental illness.
Another page of the shooter’s diary stated, “I&#8217;m feeling good about Annunciation. It seems like a good combo of easy attack form and devastating tragedy, and I want to do more research. I have concerns about finding a large enough group. I want to avoid any parents but pre and post school drop off. Maybe I could attack an event at the onsite church. I think attacking a large group of kids coming in from recess is my best plan. Then from there I can go inside and kill, going for as long as I can.”
When it comes to the politics of the shooter, we should point out he was a trans radical, and this is relevant to the story.
There are stereotypes that we jump to when it comes to mass shootings. If there&#8217;s a shooting at a synagogue, the immediate mental jump — for good reason — is either a Muslim radical or a white supremacist. That’s because, historically speaking, those are the kinds of people who shoot up a synagogue. If there&#8217;s a shooting at a Catholic church, the immediate jump now is either to a Muslim radical or to a trans radical.
There&#8217;s a reason for that. The list of violent incidents that now indicate trans suspects or self-identified trans suspects include the Covenant school shooting in Nashville, where the police tried to cover the trans issue, even though we knew right away what the likely rationale for the shooting was.
But because the media did not want that to fall on the radical trans agenda, which suggests that religious institutions are brutal and evil to trans people and trying to “erase” them — which is the equivalent of killing them — and because the media did not want to open that can of worms, they decided that they were simply going to cover it up for years. But that was, in fact, a trans radical driven crime.
Another was the Stem School Highlands Ranch shooting in California. A story that was largely buried is that the suspect who was targeting Justice Brett Kavanaugh identified online as a trans gamer girl. There&#8217;s the controversial Club Q shooting in Colorado, where the suspect — who may have been trolling — claimed to be non-binary. There was an attempted school shooting in Maryland in which the alleged suspect identified in this way. There was the burning of a Tesla in Michigan. There was an attempted knife attack on an ICE facility in Portland.
The legacy media have no problem trying to identify Right-wing trends in crime. But when the ideology is on the other foot, they run screaming away from it.
That’s because the biggest issue they are trying to sell is this: Incidents like this must not redound to the detriment of trans ideology, which is a delusional ideology. Men cannot become women. That idea has no scientific backing.
When you spread the propaganda that hormone replacement therapy and surgeries are going to make your depressive, suicidal eyed kid into a wonderful member of the opposite gender, you are not helping your child. You are harming your child.
It certainly has consequences when your claim is — as the claim of the trans radical Left is, and much of the mainstream Left — that denying that a man can become a woman is a form of death, that it&#8217;s a form of erasure in which you are removing someone&#8217;s identity, a form of soul killing.
And you shouldn’t be particularly surprised when that rhetoric gets very violent, very quickly.
Those were Catholic kids who were murdered for being Catholic by a trans radical. Why is that important? Because the ideology that lies behind trans, language that is routinely used by the trans radical community and now the entire Democratic Party, is an inherently violent ideology. It says that if you personally refuse to acknowledge that a man can become a woman, you have engaged in an act of violence.
If you claim that people who oppose your ideology are trying to kill you, that really leaves you very few responses.
I&#8217;m not saying that everyone trans is going to become a murderer or that everyone who&#8217;s promoting trans ideology is spurring people to murder.
But as always, when it comes to the connection between rhetoric and ideology and actual action, if you keep raising the temperature on that boiling pot of water, it will bubble over.

Patel said the information gathered by the FBI demonstrates that the shooting, where two children were killed and 17 other people were wounded, &#8220;was an act of domestic terrorism motivated by a hate-filled ideology.&#8221; Patel then provided multiple updates on the investigation.
&#8220;Subject left multiple anti-Catholic, anti-religious references both in his manifesto and written on his firearms. Subject expressed hatred and violence toward Jewish people, writing &#8216;Israel must fall,&#8217; &#8216;Free Palestine,&#8217; and using explicit language related to the Holocaust. The shooter, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, wrote disturbing passages in journals and recorded dark videos before opening fire on students and school staff. In one YouTube video that was posted just hours before the shooting and connected to the gunman, phrases such as &#8220;Where is your God?&#8221; and “6 million wasn’t enough&#8221; — an apparent reference to the Holocaust — were written on firearms. Patel did not reveal any information on what was written in the shooter&#8217;s manifesto that the FBI believes shows anti-Catholic and antisemitic hostility.

Patel announced on Wednesday that the FBI was investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism and a &#8220;hate crime targeting Catholics.&#8221;

The shooting at Annunciation marks the second in two years where a trans-identifying gunman targeted a Christian school. The man who shot and killed two Catholic children and injured 17 other people at a Minneapolis Catholic school has been identified by authorities as “Robin Westman,” a transgender-identifying 23-year-old who posted radical videos in the hour before his attack.
This individual identified as a woman and changed his name from Robert Westman to Robin Westman in 2020, <a href="https://x.com/peterjhasson/status/1960758053625627109">as The Washington Free Beacon’s Peter Hassan reported</a>. Court filings show that Westman’s mother signed off on the name change, since her son was a minor, and the documents state that Westman “identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.”
On Wednesday morning, around 8:30 am, Westman fired through the windows of the Annunciation Catholic School’s church in Minneapolis as students attended daily mass on their first day of school. He killed two children, ages 8 and 10, injuring 17 others before he shot himself in the parking lot, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.

Video footage obtained by The Daily Wire shows that YouTube user “Robin W” posted a disturbing video on Wednesday morning with the caption, “so long and thanks for all the fish.” That video shows an individual thumbing through a notebook filled with Russian and English journal entries, as well as pictures of guns, diagrams of his attacks, and a transgender “defend equality” flag sticker.
Throughout the video, he mutters, whispers, and giggles in a disturbing fashion.
As the video concludes, Westman appears to thumb through the pages of his notebook as he whispers, “I can’t deal with this anymore &#8230; I can’t do this anymore &#8230; I have to go, I have to go&#8230;”

He pans with the camera to a page in his notebook where it’s written in big English scrawl, “Sick fuck, sick fuck, murderer hahahahaha villain,” as he whispers aloud, “Oh my God,” and gives a middle finger to the page, before grabbing what appears to be a pistol off his desk and pressing it into the page of the book.
He then whimpers and mutters twice in a whisper, “My family. My family,” as he pans to a page that concludes, “The End,” and says, “I’m so sorry.”
He shows his room, whispering, “I’m all packed up &#8230; I don’t know what else to say. It’s over. It’s over. It’s all over.” He then mutters something about whether he will make it “to tomorrow,” before whispering, “Pray for me, I love you all.”
This was just one of many disturbing moments in the videos posted to the account, which YouTube removed on Wednesday afternoon with the help of the FBI, O’Hara confirmed. YouTube has not responded to requests for comment from The Daily Wire.
The New York Post&#8217;s Diana Glebova <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/27/us-news/robin-westman-mused-about-slaughtering-filthy-zionist-jews-in-sick-journal-before-deadly-catholic-school-shooting/">translated the journal</a> and found that Westman repeatedly discussed his hatred for Jews as well.
“If I will carry out a racially motivated attack, it would be most likely against filthy Zionist jews,” he wrote in one entry, according to the New York Post, adding in another entry: “I hate those entitled, penny-sniffing k-kes,&#8221; and in another, &#8220;6 million wasn&#8217;t enough,&#8221; referring to the number of Jewish Holocaust victims. He also wrote a message about destroying &#8220;HIAS,&#8221; a Jewish refugee aid group, and one of his guns read, “Israel must fall, release the files.&#8221;
Westman also wrote about assassinating President Donald Trump as well as the Jews. But the deceased shooter reflected that killing “children of innocent civilians” would give him “the most joy.&#8221;
“For good would be a target or political or societal significance. Targets like Musk, Trump or some significant exec,” he wrote, adding in another entry:  “I can’t really put my finger on a specific purpose. It definitely won’t be for racism or white supremacy.&#8221;
“While I don’t really like being around people of color, I don’t give enough of a shit about them to take my life for them,&#8221; he wrote, according to the New York Post.
Westman also wrote that he had been suicidal for a number of years. He wrote of his shooting plans:  “I don’t want to [do] it to spread a message. I do it to please myself. I do it because I am sick&#8230;I don’t think I could just take myself out. I would need to do something with my final act.&#8221;
Other videos on the YouTube page examined by The Daily Wire show that “Robin W” had an obsession with shooters, including the Sandy Hook shooter who killed 20 children and six school staffers before killing himself. He also drew a sketch of the Annunciation Church.

On Wednesday afternoon, FBI Director Kash Patel shared that the FBI is “investigating this shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.”
“There were 2 fatalities, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old,” he said. “In addition, 14 children and 3 adults were injured. The shooter has been identified as Robin Westman, a male born as Robert Westman. The FBI will continue to provide updates on our ongoing investigation with the public as we are able.”

Westman was carrying a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, and killed himself after firing “dozens of rounds” at innocent children, according to O’Hara. Police believe the shooter fired all three weapons, and said that he barricaded the students and staff in the church by placing a wooden plank against some of the side doors, in an attempt to prevent them from fleeing.

What We Know About The Trans-Identifying Gunman Who Slaughtered Catholic School Children

The mother of the 23-year-old trans-identifying gunman who opened fire at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning worked at the school and church, according to local Twin Cities station <a href="https://www.kare11.com/video/news/local/multiple-sources-confirm-identity-of-shooter/89-ba7ef08a-15bd-4098-a380-29da7cc0a7ab">KARE 11</a>.
The shooter was identified as Robin Westman, who previously went by Robert Westman. Law enforcement sources told KARE 11 that his mother worked at either Annunciation Catholic School or the church, which is right next to the school. It&#8217;s unclear what position Westman&#8217;s mother, Mary Grace Westman, held. The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/27/us-news/mom-of-minneapolis-mass-shooter-robin-westman-worked-at-catholic-school-where-he-opened-fire-killing-2-kids-police/">reported</a> that the church celebrated Mary Grace Westman&#8217;s five years of employment in a 2021 Facebook post.
Robert Westman reportedly changed his name to Robin in 2020 when he was still a minor, a change that required his mother&#8217;s signature, according to a Minnesota government document <a href="https://x.com/peterjhasson/status/1960758053625627109">shared</a> on social media by Washington Free Beacon Editor Peter J. Hasson. Westman changed his name because he &#8220;identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification,&#8221; the application stated.
The shooter fired through the Catholic church&#8217;s stained glass windows when students and staff were gathered in the building for school Mass. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed in the shooting, and 17 other people — including 14 children — were wounded, according to police. The gunman was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The gunman arrived at the school on Wednesday morning with three guns: a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol. Police believe that the shooter fired all three guns, targeting children with &#8220;dozens of rounds,&#8221; according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O&#8217;Hara. The attacker attempted to barricade students and staff inside the building before opening fire, placing wooden planks over the side doors where victims could have attempted to flee.
YouTube videos <a href="https://x.com/peterjhasson/status/1960743920746242064">posted</a> Wednesday morning under an account <a href="https://x.com/greg_price11/status/1960744916235248094">reportedly</a> connected to Westman showed disturbing messages written on weapons, such as &#8220;Where is your God?&#8221; &#8220;Kill Donald Trump,&#8221; &#8220;I&#8217;m the woker, baby,&#8221; and &#8220;Why so Queerious?&#8221; One video also showed a target with a picture of the crucified Jesus attached to it.

Trans-Identifying Shooter’s Mom Worked At Catholic School And Church Where He Opened Fire

Two years before a shooter opened fire on students attending daily mass in Minneapolis, the leaders of independent and Catholic schools in Minnesota begged Democrat Governor Tim Walz for help securing their schools, according to a 2023 letter reviewed by The Daily Wire. The funding was never authorized.
In a <a href="https://www.mncatholic.org/letter_to_governor_walz_school_safety_in_nonpublic_schools">letter</a> dated April 14, 2023 that specifically addressed &#8220;school safety in nonpublic schools,&#8221; Tim Benz, the president of MINNDEPENDENT and Jason Adkins, the executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, stressed an &#8220;urgent and critical need in Minnesota to make sure our schools are secure and safe&#8221; in light of &#8220;recent, and continuing attacks, on our schools in this country and in our state.&#8221;
The letter says there are about 72,000 students in Independent, Catholic, Jewish, Christian and Muslim nonpublic schools within the state of Minnesota. It came just weeks after the shooting at a Christian school in Tennessee, which was also carried out by a transgender-identifying individual in their twenties.
&#8220;The latest school shooting at a nonpublic Christian school in Tennessee sadly confirms what we already know – our schools are under attack,&#8221; Benz and Adkins wrote. &#8220;In Minnesota, nonpublic schools, particularly our Jewish and Muslim schools, have experienced increased levels of threats, all of which we must take very seriously.&#8221;
&#8220;The tragedy from last week at Covenant School must never happen in Minnesota or in our country again,&#8221; they wrote. &#8220;We need to ensure that all [our] schools have the resources to respond to and prevent these attacks from happening to our schools.&#8221;
The leaders specifically called on Waltz for assistance in making sure not only that the Minnesota Legislature enacts his budget recommendation of $50 million to establish the &#8220;Building and Cyber Security Grand Program, but also that this program include all schools as eligible for funding, regardless of whether these schools are public, charters, or nonpublic.
Adkins told The Daily Wire on Wednesday after the shooting in Minneapolis that no additional security was ever funded, even though the money existed.
&#8220;It’s a lack of will to do it by elected officials, coupled with opposition by some legislators because nonpublic school students were included in the funding,&#8221; Adkins said. &#8220;I would note that Minnesota had an $18 billion dollar budget surplus in the 2023-24 session and this was not funded.&#8221;
Adkins said that Walz had voiced support in meetings for the program, which would have &#8220;created a consistent funding stream from the state budget on a per pupil basis for all students, not just those in Catholic/private schools,&#8221; but that nothing was done.
&#8220;It was raised in discussions between the bishops and Gov. Walz, and he communicated his belief that people should feel safe in their schools and places of worship,&#8221; Adkins shared. &#8220;But the appropriation was not created.&#8221;
Walz in 2023 was instead working to protect transgenders. In April 2023, the same month the letter was sent, Walz signed legislation establishing Minnesota as a &#8220;trans refuge,&#8221; promising to &#8220;protect those seeking gender-affirming care,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.outfront.org/governor-walz-signs-conversion-therapy-ban-and-trans-refuge-bills-law">OutFront Minnesota</a>.
The letter argued that excluding independent and religious schools from security programs was discrimination.
&#8220;The exclusion of one sector of schools – as you know, nonpublic schools serve many students and families in need of services and resources – is a discriminatory act against our students,&#8221; they wrote. &#8220;Since 2020, nonpublic schools have been advocating to be part of the Safe Schools Program that provides funding to school districts for emergency response training, security upgrades, mental health services, and security resources.&#8221;
&#8220;The legislation supported by our collective organizations provides state aid to school districts, intermediate school districts, charter schools and nonpublic schools for this program. Unfortunately, this program currently does not cover nonpublic schools, charter schools and intermediate school districts and it is a levy-only program for school districts.&#8221;
Schools that are not included in the program, they stressed, could be more vulnerable to attacks.
&#8220;An attack on any school, whether it is a public, nonpublic, charter or another school site, cannot be tolerated or allowed to happen in Minnesota,&#8221; they wrote. &#8220;We want to make sure Minnesota is doing everything it can to ensure that all our students are safe and secure. We ask you include $50 million in the final Education Finance bill and allow nonpublic schools to apply for funding.&#8221;
They also asked for a meeting to discuss their proposal as well as &#8220;ongoing concerns regarding safety and security in our schools.&#8221;

We stand in solidarity and alongside Annunciation by holding them close to our hearts today and in the difficult days ahead.&#8221;

Officers are reporting 20 victims. A man dressed in all black and armed with a rifle was reported at the scene. EMS has requested a Mass Casualty Response and fire crews are bringing in additional resources.&#8221;

A Melkite-Catholic priest in Sweida, Syria, issued a desperate plea for help from the outside world as Syrian Islamists have been murdering Druze and Christians in Syria.
Father Tony Boutros, a representative of the Melkite-Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic church in full communion with the Holy See in Rome, was<a href="https://hcef.org/790796443-syria-kidnapped-melkite-priest-freed/"> kidnapped</a> in 2015 while driving to a church for Mass. He was then serving as the pastor of the Church of St. Philip the Apostle in Shahba.
Speaking from Sweida, where Islamic forces loyal to Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), are attacking and reportedly slaughtering members of that country’s Druze community, Boutros posted an urgent cry for help to prevent Islamists from wiping out the Druze and Christian communities.
“We are not ‘minorities,” he began. “We are components of this Syrian country, and we have been living together for hundreds of years. We are the people of this land. We and our Druze brothers here, and we live with them. We ask the U.S., Europe, the Vatican, and the whole world for international protection for this region of Sweida, all of it, for us and for our Druze brothers, my dear ones, and we condemn every criminal act.”
“We are advocates of peace, my dear ones, we reject excommunication and we reject killing,” he continued. “All of this is condemned for us. And we want international protection from you. We want to stay in our homes. We want to stay with our Druze brothers, with our people, us and them. Not just neighbors; we are brothers and we coexist. The Biden State Department accused a high-ranking Vatican official of denying the “full humanity” of people who identify as LGBT, internal communications first viewed by The Daily Wire reveal.
Jessica Stern, the Biden State Department’s Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Persons, made the remarks in advance of a trip to the Vatican, heavily redacted emails obtained by The Daily Wire through the Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) indicate.
Stern, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/state-department-lgbt-racial-equity-envoy-profiles-scrubbed-after-trump-takes-office">vacated her position</a> after President Donald Trump was inaugurated in January, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-biden-official-making-six-figures-to-travel-the-globe-pushing-transgenderism">traveled to all six habitable continents</a> to attend pride parades, march alongside a self-proclaimed “transvestite sl*t,” and collaborate with leftist activists as she attempted to influence the policies of foreign governments.
One of those trips took the LGBT activist-turned-State Department official to the seat of the Catholic Church.
Biden State Department officials admonished the Catholic official for his stance on LGBT-related issues in an August 1, 2023, email, the subject line of which read “Special Envoy Stern at the Vatican.”
The email came after Stern was connected with Deputy Chief of Mission at Embassy Vatican, Laura Hochla, to discuss her future engagements with Catholic officials.
“Great news! We had a very productive conversation with [REDACTED] … and we wanted to keep you abreast of the latest,” an unnamed senior advisor to Stern wrote in a heavily redacted email to Stern, Hochla, and two other officials.
The email from Stern’s senior advisor went on to detail the Biden State Department’s posture towards the Vatican, particularly as it concerned LGBT ideology.
“Something to be mindful of though: [REDACTED] made it clear that he has not seen eye-to-eye with Cardinal Parolin and believes that the Cardinal has yet to see the ‘full humanity’ of LGBTQI+ persons,” the email goes on to say, referencing <a href="https://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/en/documentation/cardinali_biografie/cardinali_bio_parolin_p.html">Cardinal Pietro Parolin</a>, the Vatican’s Secretary of State.
&#8220;CASA has uncovered documents shedding light on far left activist Jessica Stern&#8217;s history of attacking the Catholic Church and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-lgbt-emissary-berated-staff-about-vegetarian-meals-while-globetrotting-on-the-taxpayers-dime">improper use</a> of taxpayer resources during her time as the Biden State Department LGBT Special Envoy,&#8221; CASA Director James Fitzpatrick told The Daily Wire. &#8220;This is just another attempt by Biden administration officials advocating to impose their radical LGBT ideology on the teachings of the Catholic Church.”
The internal Biden State Department email went on to highlight comments made by Cardinal Parolin in an apparent attempt to bolster the case that the Catholic official does not recognize the “full humanity” of those who identify as LGBT.
“(See the Cardinal&#8217;s comments on the 2015 marriage referendum in Ireland … and a 2023 vote by German bishops to bless same-sex unions),” the email’s author adds.

Parolin expressed his disapproval of Ireland’s 2015 referendum, in which 62% of voters cast a ballot in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage.
“I was deeply saddened by the result,” Parolin <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/may/26/vatican-ireland-gay-marriage-referendum-vote-defeat-for-humanity#:~:text=The%20referendum%20that%20overwhelmingly%20backed,in%20Rome%20on%20Tuesday%20night.">said in comments</a> reflecting Catholic teaching on the issue. “The church must take account of this reality, but in the sense that it must strengthen its commitment to evangelisation. I think that you cannot just talk of a defeat for Christian principles, but of a defeat for humanity.”
He also <a href="https://www.ewtnvatican.com/articles/vatican-responds-to-the-decision-of-the-german-church-to-bless-homosexual-unions-675">spoke out against</a> a decision by the Catholic Church in Germany to bless same-sex couples in a statement that Biden State Department officials similarly appeared to cite in the redacted email.
“We are working around the birthday party to ensure government interlocuters in Vatican City and Rome know that the USG is of &#8216;one mind on LGBTQI+ human rights,'&#8221; the senior advisor went on to note.
