Country singer Carrie Underwood said she’s unfazed by the constant booing she’s been getting recently, which may or may not have something to do with her association with President Donald Trump.
The 42-year-old “American Idol” winner dealt with major backlash from followers when she opted to perform “America the Beautiful” at Trump’s inauguration ceremony last January. Now she’s stepped in as a judge on “American Idol” and has already gotten booed on several occasions. Though it’s not completely clear the reason fans are booing her, many have been speculating it’s because of that performance.
Either way, Underwood said she’s not letting it get to her. &#8220;You guys are gonna boo me. You’re gonna boo me,&#8221; the singer told the crowd at one point during a recent episode of the show. &#8220;It’s coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me.&#8221;
&#8220;Boo me. I don’t care,” she <a href="https://x.com/carrieunderwood/status/2028643682799518184">posted</a> Monday night on X alongside a laughing-crying emoji.
Underwood also stated further proof that the booing went beyond her feedback for contestants. The singer asked fellow judge Luke Bryan, “Why don’t they boo you?” to which he replied, “I don’t know, I’m trying to get booed.”
Her followers on social media assumed it was at least partly due to her association with the current administration.
“For every boo there&#8217;s at least 10000 of us who support you!  You are a great role model for young girls. Never stop being you, never sacrifice your values, and never give in to the mob,” one person <a href="https://x.com/Lpr915/status/2029156052919320905">wrote</a> in reply.

Several commenters speculated that the crowd could be booing Underwood because of her comments as a judge on the show, saying it had nothing to do with her inauguration performance at all. But several people in the comments validated that if anything, it was probably a bit of both.
“I will always like “before he cheats” but you support Tr*mp and so let them boo! You deserve it,” one hater <a href="https://x.com/thejmundo/status/2028661288134427043">wrote</a>.
“MAGA lunatic Carrie Underwood is upset that she is getting booed on American Idol,” singer Ricky Davila <a href="https://x.com/TheRickyDavila/status/2024326797102633393">wrote</a> on X last month. “Well in that case I hope the boos are louder and much more frequent.”
Underwood has remained private about her political leanings. She issued a statement following the immense backlash she faced for singing at the inauguration. 
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said ahead of the event, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-rich-calls-on-country-stars-who-support-trump-to-announce-themselves">reported</a>. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

“American Idol” executives have reportedly been in “crisis talks” about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/carrie-underwood-performs-america-the-beautiful-a-cappella-when-music-fails-at-trump-inauguration">Carrie Underwood</a>’s debut as a judge following her performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
ABC bosses have reportedly said, following the 41-year-old country singer&#8217;s performance, there have been calls for people to boycott the upcoming season in which she is supposed to be a judge, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14314477/carrie-underwood-american-idol-crisis-donald-trump-inauguration.html">Daily Mail</a> reported. On Monday, Underwood performed a stunning a cappella version of “America the Beautiful” inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda before Trump was sworn-in as the 47th President of the United States.
An insider told the outlet that there are concerns contestants might be “uncomfortable” being part of the show and fear her doing so could affect ratings.

“[One judge] Lionel Richie, who is very liberal, may not see eye to eye with Carrie&#8217;s views which could create some tension,”  the source continued. “He has never and will never support Trump. The general opinion is that Carrie should have thought about the show&#8217;s culture and network values before jumping into such a major role while under contract.”
The “Jesus, Take The Wheel” hitmaker released a statement about performing at the inauguration after the Trump-Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/inauguration">Inaugural Committee</a> announced she would be one of many singers participating in the inauguration events.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in her statement.
During the inauguration, things did not go as smoothly as planned for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Underwood</a>, who ended up calling on politicians, dignitaries, and guests to join her in singing “America the Beautiful” when the instrumental music failed to play, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/carrie-underwood-performs-america-the-beautiful-a-cappella-when-music-fails-at-trump-inauguration">reported</a>.
As she stood there holding the mic, the music began, stuttered, and then stopped playing. The singer waited a few moments as others in the room, including Trump, looked around during the awkward silence, wondering if the moment would happen. But when it became clear there was some kind of technical difficulty, Underwood proved to be every bit the superstar and called on everyone in the room to join her.
“You know the words, help me out here,” the <a href="https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1881398740441038997">singer said</a> as she began performing an incredible rendition of the song.
Underwood’s own singing career became a reality after she appeared on the fourth season of “American Idol” and won the contest in 2005. “Wicked” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ariana-grande">Ariana Grande</a> hit the like button on a post making fun of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Carrie Underwood</a>’s a cappella performance of “America the Beautiful” at President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/inauguration">inauguration</a> ceremony on Monday.
Underwood quickly adapted when the music that was meant to accompany her vocals failed to play. The “American Idol” winner paused briefly, then gamely said to the assembled crowd, “If you know the words help me out here,” before launching into the song with just her voice. 
The singer was heaped with praise for being so unfazed and for performing a cappella so beautifully. But some critics, including those who were already annoyed that Underwood would dare to sing during the event in the first place, criticized her performance. 
Internet personality Evan Ross Katz shared a photo to Instagram of outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris watching Underwood sing. He added the caption: “Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese (‘Girl, find the note’)” [while] watching Carrie Underwood’s at today’s chilling inauguration.” 
This comment referenced an episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” when contestant Montrese criticized another contestant’s singing.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Carrie Underwood</a> called on politicians, dignitaries, and guests to join her in singing “America the Beautiful” a cappella at President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday when the instrumental music failed to play.
The 41-year-old country singer walked into the U.S. Capitol Rotunda to perform the song alongside The Armed Forces Chorus and The United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
As she stood there holding the mic, the music began, stuttered, and then stopped playing. The singer waited a few moments as others in the room, including Trump, looked around during the awkward silence, wondering if the moment would happen. But when it became clear there was some kind of technical difficulty, Underwood proved to be every bit the superstar and called on everyone in the room to join her.

The rock performer has been an out and proud Trump supporter all along. Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, spoke with <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kid-rock-believes-trump-has-gained-celebrity-support-because-stars-feel-its-safe-now">Fox News</a> about the shift just before he performed at Trump&#8217;s MAGA Victory Rally on Sunday in Washington, D.C.
&#8220;It feels like the rebirth of our nation,&#8221; Ritchie told Fox News at the event. &#8220;Felt like that at the UFC fight after the election, everybody was together, you know, walking to the ring,&#8221; he added, referencing a high-energy post-election event in New York City.
&#8220;There&#8217;s just this overwhelming sense … you&#8217;ve heard it a million times, that America&#8217;s back,&#8221; the musician added. &#8220;Now they feel it&#8217;s safe to go in the water after dipping their toe in it for four to eight years,&#8221; Ritchie said. &#8220;I mean, welcome to the party, like I&#8217;ve said. Better to have them on board than not.”
&#8220;There&#8217;s a whole change in the air, there&#8217;s a whole shift in everything,&#8221; he said. &#8220;[People] saw what he did the first time. And when you really look at the facts and the numbers and how great it was, and it&#8217;s only going to be better from there. The feeling&#8217;s everywhere. Especially if you&#8217;re on our side – it&#8217;s through the roof. Ritchie said, &#8220;Like, it&#8217;s OK … we think differently on a lot of things, but if you&#8217;re a reasonable person, and I really got to stress ‘reasonable,’ because Lord knows there are some fruitcakes out there.&#8221;
Underwood caught a lot of heat from fans due to her decision to sing “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration. She eventually issued a statement to fans, saying, &#8220;I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

Snoop Dogg also got chastised by social media followers for performing at the Crypto Ball ahead of the inauguration, especially since the rapper was critical of Trump during his first time in office. But Snoop Dogg had already indicated his feelings had changed during a January 2024 <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/article/snoop-dogg-i-have-nothing-but-love-and-respect-for-donald-trump-k60k99phr?region=global">interview</a> with the Sunday Times when he said he had &#8220;nothing but love and respect&#8221; for the former president.
&#8220;Donald Trump? He ain&#8217;t done nothing wrong to me,&#8221; he told the outlet. &#8220;He has done only great things for me.&#8221;

Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” at the swearing-in ceremony with American Tenor Christopher Macchio doing the National Anthem, along with Lee Greenwood performing.
“The pageantry is wonderful. I’m excited about all of that,” Greenwood told The <a href="https://apnews.com/article/kid-rock-jason-aldean-trump-inauguration-aee5bc61e0abeafa8a8bf28f110a179c">Associated Press</a>. “I’m excited to sing yet again for President of the United States and particularly my friend Donald J. Trump.”
The day of the inauguration, several balls will take place with Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, singer Gavin DeGraw, and country star Parker McCollum booked to entertain guests.
Following news of Underwood’s involvement, the country singer released a statement that read, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

In a press release for the musical lineup for the 60th Presidential <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-trumps-spending-inauguration-weekend">Inauguration Weekend</a>, the committee said that, along with Carrie Underwood and the Village People, Kid Rock, the country music trio Rascal Flatts, country music star Parker McCollum, Lee Greenwood, and and many others will be there for the historic event.
“The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee is proud to announce that some of our nation’s most iconic musicians will be participating in the inaugural celebrations,” co-Chairs Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler, Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, Inc, said in the release.

News of the performers follows reports over the last few days that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/grammy-award-winner-carrie-underwood-will-perform-at-trumps-inauguration">Underwood</a> and the disco music group Village People had accepted an invitation to be part of Trump’s inauguration activities, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/village-people-make-huge-announcement-about-trumps-inauguration">reported</a>.
In a message on the Village People&#8217;s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RealVillagePeople">Facebook page</a>, it said that the group would be participating in several inaugural activities for the president-elect.
&#8220;We know this won’t make some of you happy to hear, however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics,” the message read.  “Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.”
“Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump,” the statement added.

The Village People, the band behind the hit 1978 single and Trump rally staple “Y.M.C.A.,” will perform at Trump’s victory rally in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, per <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/01/13/trump-village-people-inaugural-kid-rock">Axios</a>. The group will also perform at the inaugural eve ball hosted by Turning Point USA on Sunday night. 
Country stars Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts will perform at Trump’s inaugural ball on Monday, the outlet noted, while Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus are also slated to play at the victory rally.
Opera singer Christopher Macchio will perform the national anthem at the event.

A Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee spokesperson <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/carrie-underwood-perform-america-beautiful-trump-inauguration">confirmed</a> the news with Fox News Digital, the outlet noted. The 41-year-old “American Idol” alum will be joined by the Armed Forces Choir and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. 
The news broke when Washington reporter and journalist Matthew Foldi shared a photo of the program on X.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Carrie Underwood</a> released a statement about how her family and pets were doing after their Tennessee home caught fire on Sunday night.
On Monday, a statement from the 41-year-old singer’s spokesperson made it clear that her family — husband Mike Fisher, their two sons and their pets were all safe — after a garage fire sent flames to their home, <a href="https://tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-house-fire-statement/">Taste of Country</a> reported. 
“There was a fire on the property on Sunday night, which was quickly contained,” the statement read. “There was no fire damage to the primary residence, and the family and their pets were unharmed.”
<a href="https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-news/carrie-underwood-house-fire-williamson-franklin/">WKRN</a> news reported that all eight stations in the county of Williamson responded to the “Somethin Bad” hitmaker’s remote home when flames erupted close to 10 p.m. on Sunday night.
When crews arrived, they were able to utilize Underwood’s 10,000 gallon water tank on the property to help them battle the fully-engulfed blaze and extinguish it before it was able to spread to the home and cause structural damage to their house.

A statement posted on <a href="https://x.com/WilcoFireRescue/status/1802575568023498779">X</a> from the fire department read, “Crews were able to knock down the fire quickly to prevent spread into the house. Firefighters continue to put out hotspots to prevent further spread. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There are no injuries at this time.”
A spokesperson with <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2024/06/17/carrie-underwood-home-tennessee-fire-singer-family-unharmed/74123843007/">Williamson County Fire and Rescue</a>, Dinah Wade, has since shared that an off-road UTV in the garage was reportedly the source of the fire, <a href="https://tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-nashville-home-fire/">Taste of Country</a> noted.
The “Jesus Take The Wheel” singer has yet to publicly comment on social media about the fire.
Underwood recently made headlines after another scare when the camera caught the moment the singer fell right off the stage during the rain-soaked finale of her show at the Carolina Country Music fest.

The fall brought back memories of the time the “Blown Away” singer suffered in 2017 on the steps outside her Nashville home that resulted in her getting dozens of stitches and breaking her wrist. She went dark on social media for months and when she finally resurfaced she warned fans about her “not quite looking the same” after the accident, <a href="https://people.com/country/carrie-underwood-details-accident-wasnt-hiding/">People magazine</a> noted.
In her post at the time to fan club members, <a href="https://www.carrieunderwood.fm/news/news/letter-from-carrie-about-new-music/">Underwood wrote</a> that she had to get “40 and 50 stitches” on her face, <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/country/carrie-underwood-open-letter-health-update-new-single-8301240/">Billboard magazine</a> noted at the time.
“It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she added. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.”
