“American Idol” executives have reportedly been in “crisis talks” about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/carrie-underwood-performs-america-the-beautiful-a-cappella-when-music-fails-at-trump-inauguration">Carrie Underwood</a>’s debut as a judge following her performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
ABC bosses have reportedly said, following the 41-year-old country singer&#8217;s performance, there have been calls for people to boycott the upcoming season in which she is supposed to be a judge, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14314477/carrie-underwood-american-idol-crisis-donald-trump-inauguration.html">Daily Mail</a> reported. On Monday, Underwood performed a stunning a cappella version of “America the Beautiful” inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda before Trump was sworn-in as the 47th President of the United States.
An insider told the outlet that there are concerns contestants might be “uncomfortable” being part of the show and fear her doing so could affect ratings.

“Idol contestants come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, and so do the people who work on the show,” a source said. “There are concerns that her apparent political stance might make some contestants feel uncomfortable.”

“[One judge] Lionel Richie, who is very liberal, may not see eye to eye with Carrie&#8217;s views which could create some tension,”  the source continued. “He has never and will never support Trump. The general opinion is that Carrie should have thought about the show&#8217;s culture and network values before jumping into such a major role while under contract.”
The “Jesus, Take The Wheel” hitmaker released a statement about performing at the inauguration after the Trump-Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/inauguration">Inaugural Committee</a> announced she would be one of many singers participating in the inauguration events.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in her statement.
During the inauguration, things did not go as smoothly as planned for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Underwood</a>, who ended up calling on politicians, dignitaries, and guests to join her in singing “America the Beautiful” when the instrumental music failed to play, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/carrie-underwood-performs-america-the-beautiful-a-cappella-when-music-fails-at-trump-inauguration">reported</a>.
As she stood there holding the mic, the music began, stuttered, and then stopped playing. The singer waited a few moments as others in the room, including Trump, looked around during the awkward silence, wondering if the moment would happen. But when it became clear there was some kind of technical difficulty, Underwood proved to be every bit the superstar and called on everyone in the room to join her.
“You know the words, help me out here,” the <a href="https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1881398740441038997">singer said</a> as she began performing an incredible rendition of the song.
Underwood’s own singing career became a reality after she appeared on the fourth season of “American Idol” and won the contest in 2005. “Wicked” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ariana-grande">Ariana Grande</a> hit the like button on a post making fun of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Carrie Underwood</a>’s a cappella performance of “America the Beautiful” at President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/inauguration">inauguration</a> ceremony on Monday.
Underwood quickly adapted when the music that was meant to accompany her vocals failed to play. The “American Idol” winner paused briefly, then gamely said to the assembled crowd, “If you know the words help me out here,” before launching into the song with just her voice. 
The singer was heaped with praise for being so unfazed and for performing a cappella so beautifully. But some critics, including those who were already annoyed that Underwood would dare to sing during the event in the first place, criticized her performance. 
Internet personality Evan Ross Katz shared a photo to Instagram of outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris watching Underwood sing. He added the caption: “Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese (‘Girl, find the note’)” [while] watching Carrie Underwood’s at today’s chilling inauguration.” 
This comment referenced an episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” when contestant Montrese criticized another contestant’s singing.

Grande had already made her feelings about Trump clear. After endorsing Harris for president, the “Thank U, Next” singer responded to her preferred candidate losing the election by sharing in Instagram Stories, “Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today.”

&#8220;It feels like the rebirth of our nation,&#8221; Ritchie told Fox News at the event. &#8220;Felt like that at the UFC fight after the election, everybody was together, you know, walking to the ring,&#8221; he added, referencing a high-energy post-election event in New York City.
&#8220;There&#8217;s just this overwhelming sense … you&#8217;ve heard it a million times, that America&#8217;s back,&#8221; the musician added. &#8220;Now they feel it&#8217;s safe to go in the water after dipping their toe in it for four to eight years,&#8221; Ritchie said. &#8220;I mean, welcome to the party, like I&#8217;ve said. Ritchie said, &#8220;Like, it&#8217;s OK … we think differently on a lot of things, but if you&#8217;re a reasonable person, and I really got to stress ‘reasonable,’ because Lord knows there are some fruitcakes out there.&#8221;
Underwood caught a lot of heat from fans due to her decision to sing “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration. She eventually issued a statement to fans, saying, &#8220;I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

But Snoop Dogg had already indicated his feelings had changed during a January 2024 <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/article/snoop-dogg-i-have-nothing-but-love-and-respect-for-donald-trump-k60k99phr?region=global">interview</a> with the Sunday Times when he said he had &#8220;nothing but love and respect&#8221; for the former president.

Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” at the swearing-in ceremony with American Tenor Christopher Macchio doing the National Anthem, along with Lee Greenwood performing.
“The pageantry is wonderful. I’m excited about all of that,” Greenwood told The <a href="https://apnews.com/article/kid-rock-jason-aldean-trump-inauguration-aee5bc61e0abeafa8a8bf28f110a179c">Associated Press</a>. “I’m excited to sing yet again for President of the United States and particularly my friend Donald J. Trump.”
The day of the inauguration, several balls will take place with Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, singer Gavin DeGraw, and country star Parker McCollum booked to entertain guests.
Following news of Underwood’s involvement, the country singer released a statement that read, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

In a press release for the musical lineup for the 60th Presidential <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-trumps-spending-inauguration-weekend">Inauguration Weekend</a>, the committee said that, along with Carrie Underwood and the Village People, Kid Rock, the country music trio Rascal Flatts, country music star Parker McCollum, Lee Greenwood, and and many others will be there for the historic event.
“The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee is proud to announce that some of our nation’s most iconic musicians will be participating in the inaugural celebrations,” co-Chairs Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler, Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, Inc, said in the release.

News of the performers follows reports over the last few days that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/grammy-award-winner-carrie-underwood-will-perform-at-trumps-inauguration">Underwood</a> and the disco music group Village People had accepted an invitation to be part of Trump’s inauguration activities, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/village-people-make-huge-announcement-about-trumps-inauguration">reported</a>.
In a message on the Village People&#8217;s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RealVillagePeople">Facebook page</a>, it said that the group would be participating in several inaugural activities for the president-elect.
&#8220;We know this won’t make some of you happy to hear, however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics,” the message read.  “Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.”
“Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump,” the statement added.

Underwood has faced backlash from liberal fans following the announcement that she’d sing “America the Beautiful” at next Monday’s ceremony. The group will also perform at the inaugural eve ball hosted by Turning Point USA on Sunday night. 
Country stars Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts will perform at Trump’s inaugural ball on Monday, the outlet noted, while Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus are also slated to play at the victory rally.
Opera singer Christopher Macchio will perform the national anthem at the event.

Performers at President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021 included Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, and Garth Brooks, per <a href="https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/5082765-carrie-underwood-trump-inauguration-jan-20/">The Hill</a>. 
Underwood is one of the best-selling artists of all time after catapulting to fame following her big win on “Idol” in 2005. She has remained quiet on her political leanings in the past, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/music/2019/jun/26/carrie-underwood-interview-glastonbury">telling</a> the Guardian in 2019 that she tries to “stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins.”
“I feel like more people try to pin me places politically,” she said at the time. “Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”
Underwood’s husband, retired NHL player Mike Fisher, has been more open with potentially divisive political opinions. He wrote on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mfisher1212/p/CV8uWlErfdJ/">Instagram</a>, “I stand with [Aaron Rodgers],” when the NFL quarterback came out publicly against COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Carrie Underwood</a> released a statement about how her family and pets were doing after their Tennessee home caught fire on Sunday night.
On Monday, a statement from the 41-year-old singer’s spokesperson made it clear that her family — husband Mike Fisher, their two sons and their pets were all safe — after a garage fire sent flames to their home, <a href="https://tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-house-fire-statement/">Taste of Country</a> reported. 
“There was a fire on the property on Sunday night, which was quickly contained,” the statement read. “There was no fire damage to the primary residence, and the family and their pets were unharmed.”
<a href="https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-news/carrie-underwood-house-fire-williamson-franklin/">WKRN</a> news reported that all eight stations in the county of Williamson responded to the “Somethin Bad” hitmaker’s remote home when flames erupted close to 10 p.m. on Sunday night.
When crews arrived, they were able to utilize Underwood’s 10,000 gallon water tank on the property to help them battle the fully-engulfed blaze and extinguish it before it was able to spread to the home and cause structural damage to their house.

A statement posted on <a href="https://x.com/WilcoFireRescue/status/1802575568023498779">X</a> from the fire department read, “Crews were able to knock down the fire quickly to prevent spread into the house. Firefighters continue to put out hotspots to prevent further spread. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There are no injuries at this time.”
A spokesperson with <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2024/06/17/carrie-underwood-home-tennessee-fire-singer-family-unharmed/74123843007/">Williamson County Fire and Rescue</a>, Dinah Wade, has since shared that an off-road UTV in the garage was reportedly the source of the fire, <a href="https://tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-nashville-home-fire/">Taste of Country</a> noted.
The “Jesus Take The Wheel” singer has yet to publicly comment on social media about the fire.
Underwood recently made headlines after another scare when the camera caught the moment the singer fell right off the stage during the rain-soaked finale of her show at the Carolina Country Music fest.
In a TMZ clip posted on <a href="https://x.com/TMZ/status/1800211535903719850" target="_blank" rel="noopener">X</a>, Underwood continues singing as she walks to the back of the stage towards some stairs and then appears to slip and fall off them at the end of her performance at the Myrtle Beach concert.
Several fans spotted the fall and one can be overheard saying that the country singer “fell!”
Taking to social media after the concert, the country superstar seemed to hint at the tumble, noting it was an unexpected ending.

In a second <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C8CgQE3ger_/">post</a> she wrote, “We won’t let a little rain stop us! We won’t let a massive downpour stop us, either!” The post included a video of her singing in what looked to be a torrential rain storm.
The fall brought back memories of the time the “Blown Away” singer suffered in 2017 on the steps outside her Nashville home that resulted in her getting dozens of stitches and breaking her wrist. She went dark on social media for months and when she finally resurfaced she warned fans about her “not quite looking the same” after the accident, <a href="https://people.com/country/carrie-underwood-details-accident-wasnt-hiding/">People magazine</a> noted.
In her post at the time to fan club members, <a href="https://www.carrieunderwood.fm/news/news/letter-from-carrie-about-new-music/">Underwood wrote</a> that she had to get “40 and 50 stitches” on her face, <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/country/carrie-underwood-open-letter-health-update-new-single-8301240/">Billboard magazine</a> noted at the time.
“It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she added. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.”
“I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way,” Underwood continued. “And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”

Country star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Carrie Underwood</a> has high standards when it comes to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">singing</a>, recently admitting she doesn&#8217;t respect artists who sound different in concert than they do in recordings.
The 39-year-old “American Idol” alum made the comments during an interview with <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/carrie-underwood-how-she-got-axl-rose-1234610158/">Rolling Stone</a>. &#8220;I love to sing, and I&#8217;ve always taken pride in the work I&#8217;ve put in on my <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music-industry">vocals</a>. I do want to sound good,&#8221; Underwood explained. 
&#8220;Growing up and going to concerts or seeing my favorite artists on TV, if they didn&#8217;t sound like they were supposed to sound, it was always so deflating,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I&#8217;d lose respect for them. Or when I&#8217;d go to a concert and hear them drop keys, I was like, &#8216;You can&#8217;t hit the notes! Why&#8217;d you record them if you can&#8217;t sing them?&#8217; That stuff is important to me.&#8221;
While many fellow recording artists didn’t live up to these standards, Underwood said one singer consistently exceeded her expectations and became a role model for her career.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve been covering Guns N&#8217; Roses my whole life, pretty much, and definitely onstage for the past 15 years at least,&#8221; the “Before He Cheats” composer revealed. She went on to say she’d been trying to get lead vocalist Axl Rose to go onstage with her for years. That finally became a reality this spring at Stagecoach Festival in California.
&#8220;We had a couple almost maybes, where it almost maybe would have happened but for various reasons it wasn&#8217;t the right time,&#8221; Underwood told the publication. &#8220;But [for Stagecoach] I asked. I sent him an email and said, &#8216;We&#8217;re so close to you,&#8217; and explained the why and what he meant to me.&#8221;
She said Axl Rose’s vocal range made a significant impression on her as an up-and-coming star.
&#8220;The way I learned how to sing was I would pick really hard vocalists to try to emulate, and his voice always mesmerized me,&#8221; the singer told Rolling Stone. &#8220;I was like, &#8216;How is he doing the things that he&#8217;s doing?'&#8221; So I told him all that…and he came!&#8221;
Large vocal ranges are highly <a href="https://www.musictimes.com/articles/82390/20210607/ariana-grande-freddie-mercury-mariah-carey-list-singers-largest-octave.htm">coveted</a> in the music industry, with four and five-octave ranges being the most idolized. Some popular artists with four and five-octave ranges are Ariana Grande, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey. Axl Rose has a five-octave range as well.
Underwood has somewhere between a strong two-octave and three-octave <a href="https://criticofmusic.com/vocal-range-and-profile-carrie-underwood">range</a>.
