<p>The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kansas-city-chiefs-defensive-lineman-has-seizure-goes-into-cardiac-arrest-during-meeting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">incident</a> happened on Thursday when the former Stephen F. Austin State University standout was in a special teams meeting.</p>
<p>Rick Burkholder, the Chiefs&#8217; vice president of sports medicine and performance, said during a press conference on Friday that the team had held a meeting earlier in the week on how players should respond to serious medical emergencies.</p>
<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s awake and he&#8217;s alert,&#8221; Burkholder said in updating reporters on Thompson&#8217;s condition in the hospital. &#8220;He&#8217;s headed in the absolute right direction.&#8221;</p>

<p>Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died Thursday evening after going into cardiac arrest earlier in the day. She was 54 years old.</p>
<p>“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”</p>
<p>Los Angeles County paramedics performed CPR on Presley at her Calabasas home after she went into “full arrest” before transporting her to a medical facility.</p>
<p>Paramedics were able to regain a pulse before she arrived at the hospital when someone administered epinephrine at the scene, the report said.</p>
<p>The family released a separate statement Thursday evening following the news of Lisa Presley&#8217;s passing.</p>
<p>“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie,” the family statement <a href="https://variety.com/2023/music/news/lisa-marie-presley-dead-1235488279/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”</p>
<p>Presley was just at the 80th Golden Globe Awards with her mother on Tuesday where they watched Austin Butler win his first Golden Globe award for best actor in a dramatic motion picture for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the eponymous biopic.</p>
<p>Lisa Presley, a singer and songwriter, has three children, including actress Riley Keough.</p>
<p>As a teenager, Lisa Presley dropped out of high school and later entered rehab after she had started to use drugs. While in rehab, she met musician Danny Keough, whom she later married in 1988 and with whom she had two children, Riley and Benjamin. The two divorced in 1994 after six years of marriage.</p>
<p>Less than a month later, Lisa Presley married singer Michael Jackson, a marriage that would last less than two years.</p>
<p>Lisa Presley became engaged to musician John Oszajca several years later in 2000 before she ended that relationship so she could date actor Nicholas Cage.</p>
<p>Cage and Presley married in 2002, but the marriage ended less than four months later.</p>
<p>TMZ added that Lisa Presley owned and operated Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005 when she sold the business.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">Tee Higgins, the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver who collided with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin before Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field, made his first public comments regarding Hamlin.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The two men had known each other personally before, having attended Tyler Boyd’s annual football camp near Pittsburgh, <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35386879/tee-higgins-feels-better-communicating-damar-hamlin-mom">ESPN</a> noted.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Obviously it’s been hard, just because you know I had something to do with the play [and] whatnot,” Higgins said, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nfl/bengals-higgins-im-in-a-good-place-right-now/2023/01/05/15a445ca-8d3c-11ed-b86a-2e3a77336b8e_story.html">The Washington Post</a>.  “Everyone has been making me feel whole again. I talked to his mom and everything is OK, he’s doing good, so I’m in a good place right now.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“And suddenly she’s telling me that he’s OK. And just all the positive stuff,” he continued. “I mean it feels good just knowing that he’s OK, he’s doing better, and it makes me feel better inside.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The play before Hamlin collapsed came in the first quarter of the game Monday night, as Hamlin collapsed after tackling Higgins at the tail end of a 13-yard completion. Hamlin initially stood up, then collapsed. Higgins, who had not seen Hamlin stand up, initially thought Hamlin had flopped, then realized what was happening.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">“Me being a football player, I’m thinking he just flopped, one of my guys bumped him,” Higgins recalled. “I just seen the fall. I looked again, and I seen what happened, and I just turned my head and trying not to think about it. So I knew it was something crazy and something tragic.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Boyd, who has maintained contact with Higgins since Hamlin collapsed, criticized people who have blamed Higgins, saying, “Tee&#8217;s a human being, too. It could&#8217;ve flipped. It could&#8217;ve been Tee. It&#8217;s football, at the end of the day.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;">Bills quarterback Josh Allen expressed similar sentiments, declaring, “I do want to say one more thing: I haven&#8217;t reached out to Tee. I hope that he got some relief today. I saw some stuff on Twitter. And people should not be attacking him whatsoever. And I&#8217;m glad that Damar&#8217;s family came out and said that. And hopefully, he found some relief today. Because that&#8217;s a football play. And I hope that he doesn&#8217;t hold that upon himself because there&#8217;s nothing else that he could have done in that situation.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills released a statement on Hamlin’s progress, stating, “Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal, and he is making steady progress.”</p>
