A woman who says she dated second gentleman Doug Emhoff in 2012 has come forward anonymously to allege that he once slapped her hard enough to make her “spin.”
The woman spoke to the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13981101/doug-emhoff-ex-girlfriend-slap-flirt-allegations-kamala-harris.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a> and provided pictures and documentation showing that she and Emhoff traveled to France to attend the amfAR gala dinner at the Cannes Film Festival. She said he slapped her as they were trying to get a taxi back to their lodging late one night during the trip.
She had approached the valet, offering a $100 tip if they could skip the line and get a car soon. As she was talking to the valet, Emhoff allegedly walked up and slapped her across the face.
“As I’m talking to [the valet], Doug got out of the line, comes up, turns me around by my right shoulder. I&#8217;m completely caught off guard, I&#8217;m not bracing, I&#8217;m in four inch heels, wearing a full-length gown and it&#8217;s between 2-3 am,” she said. “He slaps me so hard I spin around, and I&#8217;m in utter shock.”

“There had been no fight, no argument. It had been a completely fantastic event. I am so furious. The only thing I could think to do was slap him back. I slapped him on one side, and on the other cheek with the other hand,” she continued. “In that moment, his mask had dropped and I saw his dark side.”
As they were in the cab, she said she asked Emhoff why he slapped her and did not get a firm answer.
“I can’t believe he just slapped me. I think I said to him in the car, ‘What the hell is wrong with you? Why did you do that?’ And the only thing I could get out of him was he thought I was hitting on the valet,” she said.
She decided to tell her story of Emhoff after seeing him lauded in the media as a feminist.
“What&#8217;s frightening for a woman that’s been on the other end of it, is watching this completely fabricated persona being portrayed,” the woman told the Daily Mail. “He’s being held out to be the antithesis of who he actually is. And that is utterly shocking.”
Emhoff was first accused of slapping the woman by the woman’s friends, who spoke to the Daily Mail for a story published earlier this month.
She “went up to one of the valet guys, offered him 100 Euros or whatever, to get to the head of the line. She told me she put her hand on his shoulder. Doug apparently thought that she was flirting, and came over and slapped her in the face,” one friend <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13898791/Kamala-Harris-husband-Doug-Emhoff-accused-ex-girlfriend-slap.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Daily Mail.
Emhoff has denied hitting the woman in a statement through a spokesman.
“This report is untrue,” the spokesman told <a href="https://www.semafor.com/newsletter/10/03/2024/family-feud" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Semafor</a> in a statement after the allegation first surfaced in public. “Any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.”
Emhoff has previously admitted to having an affair while married to his first wife with their former nanny.

&#8220;Look, people have marital problems, and they make bad decisions when they&#8217;re married to people that they don&#8217;t love,&#8221; Kelly began. &#8220;However, banging your child&#8217;s nanny and impregnating her is in a special league of its own.&#8221;
&#8220;I think most of us would have left it alone if he hadn&#8217;t then paraded himself out there and let the media parade himself out there like he was the ideal husband on steroids, like he is the new version of what it means to be a real man &#8230; and should really be the role model for my boys and yours,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;F that. I want my boys to be like my husband, who did not bang the nanny, nor impregnate another woman while married to me, or ever. It&#8217;s just insane that they tried to sell us this lie.&#8221;
Kelly then showed a clip of former Biden-Harris official and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki declaring in a recent interview with Emhoff that he had “reshaped the perception of masculinity.”
She then highlighted this week&#8217;s story from the Daily Mail detailing accusations that he hit the woman, only identified in the story as &#8220;Jane,&#8221; in the face.

The Daily Mail reports that he did not respond to requests for comment on the article. What does that mean? There&#8217;s not even going to be a denial? I guess they&#8217;ll get around to it, just an allegation right now, but let me tell you, take some time today to read that Daily Mail report, because it&#8217;s incredibly detailed with several friends of the very successful attorney that he was dating, his alleged victim, going to the Daily Mail, providing records to the Daily Mail, speaking in great detail about the call that the abuse victim alleged [sic] made to them after he smacked her in front of other people, in front of French valets over there in Cannes, France.&#8221;
Kelly concluded by saying that she hoped that Pskai &#8220;wasn&#8217;t aware of&#8221; the allegations when the interview occurred.

Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, faced backlash online Wednesday afternoon after an explosive report was published in a British newspaper of accusations that Emhoff hit his ex-girlfriend in the face at a high-profile event in Europe.
Three friends of the woman, a New York lawyer, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doug-emhoff-accused-of-hitting-ex-girlfriend-in-the-face-at-high-profile-event-report">told</a> the Daily Mail about the alleged attack in 2012 on the condition that neither they nor the woman, who was only identified as “Jane,” be named out of fear of retaliation.
Two of the friends say that Jane told them about the incident right after it happened, while the third friend said that Jane told her several years later.
The report said Emhoff and Jane were in line waiting for a taxi as they were leaving the event when Jane went and tipped a valet, hoping to get moved to the front of the line. During the interaction, she allegedly placed her hand on his shoulder, and Emhoff thought that she was hitting on the valet.

The altercation allegedly happened at the May 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France as Emhoff and Jane waited in line for a taxi to take them back to their hotel room.
The two met on an online dating website and had been dating for three months when the incident occurred, the report said. The friends provided the British publication with photos of the two together, travel documents, and emails that they say confirm that the two were in a relationship and attended the event together.
The disturbing report comes after former Biden-Harris official and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki declared in a recent interview with Emhoff that he had “reshaped the perception of masculinity.”
Psaki made the remarks even though it had been recently revealed that Emhoff impregnated his children’s babysitter, which led to the end of his first marriage.

Jane received tickets to the star-studded May 24, 2012, event from wealthy friends and decided to take Emhoff as her plus one.
The first person who Jane told about the alleged assault was one of her male friends, who is a top New York businessman, the report said, who got a phone call from her moments after the attack happened.
“It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing. She told me she was with a guy and he hit her,” he told the publication. “It was very clear what she was telling me. She said she was with a guy, her date, she was at the Cannes Film Festival, and he hit her. She was in the car with the guy at the time.”
He said he did not know how to respond and wasn’t sure if he needed to call the police in France.
“It was something like 3am. They were trying to get out of there and they both had been drinking. There was a gigantic line for taxis,” he said, adding that she “went up to one of the valet guys, offered him 100 Euros or whatever, to get to the head of the line.”
“She told me she put her hand on his shoulder. Doug apparently thought that she was flirting, and came over and slapped her in the face,” he continued. “She slapped him back. My impression is that he had a lot to drink. She was sobbing [on the phone afterwards], but she wasn’t slurring her words. She told me that she broke up with him that night.”
Jane reportedly told a second friend, who is also a lawyer in New York, about the attack around the time that it happened.

The second friend said that Jane had slapped him back and that she had tried to get out of there by herself but that Emhoff had forced his way into the taxi.
“She couldn’t believe he is the person that he is, and that it turned into this trailer trash moment,” the second friend said. “It woke her up about the self-delusion she was having, explaining away the teacher story. She realized he was bad news. This was the first time she saw his ugly side.”
“She said she called [her male businessman friend] because she wanted Doug to see her on the phone, telling somebody,” the second friend said. “She felt that would afford her some protection.”
A third friend, a female executive, said that Jane told her about the story in 2018.
“I don’t know if it was an aggressive slap or a punch, but it was something that I know she would never forget, and something that would end a relationship immediately,” the third friend said. “She had never been hit in her life. [Jane] is a gorgeous, strong woman and you would never expect somebody to hit her.”
“I asked her if he ever apologized. She said no, but he commented about the hit she gave him. It was a tennis metaphor. But no apology at all,” she continued. “He was a tennis fan. All he said to her was, ‘Don’t worry about it, you got one across the court and down the line.&#8217;”
The female executive told the publication that she and Jane were both Democrats, and she felt that the public needed to know about Emhoff, given the possibility that his wife could end up becoming president.
“He’s holding himself out to be something he absolutely is not. And that’s bulls***,&#8221; she said. “[Jane] was always leaning Democratic. I have always voted Democratic. If anything I would like to tell a story on the other side. But this is the truth.”
“He’s a really bad guy,” she added. “To hold him out as a supporter of women is just disgusting.”
Neither Emhoff nor Jane responded to requests for comment.

The publication obtained Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) records that showed they were called to the home where the nanny was living in 2009, around the time she was allegedly pregnant, about a &#8220;life threatening emergency, lights and sirens on.&#8221;
The department did not release any information about the incident or who was involved.
The female executive told the publication that she and Jane were both Democrats, and she felt that the public needed to know about Emhoff, given the possibility that his wife could end up becoming president.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kevin-costner">Kevin Costner</a> said he’s been knocking on doors at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cannes">Cannes</a> Film Festival looking for backers to finance the next installments of his country Western passion project.
The 69-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">actor</a> confirmed he put up $38 million of his own money into the project he’s been obsessing over for decades. The first film, “Horizon: An American Saga,” debuted at Cannes over the weekend before its national release on June 28. 
 “That’s the message I want my kids to understand about who I am: that I do what I believe in,” Costner told <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/kevin-costner-gq-cover-story">GQ</a> of taking such a big risk. “I have fear like everybody else. I don’t want to be humiliated.”
The actor also commented on taking out a mortgage on his Santa Barbara home to help finance the project. “I mean, it’s okay, maybe I lose that. But it’s: Have I lost myself?” he told the outlet of making that decision. 
Warner Bros. is releasing the first two installments of the project this summer and production has already started on the third despite the second two movies not yet being fully funded. 
“They’re going to happen regardless, but they’re not already funded,” Costner said. “I got my suitcase on the end of the street, you know, and seeing: Where are all you brave, rich billionaires? If I hear the word billionaire one more time, I think I’m going to puke.”
“I need somebody that’s impulsive, is emotional, has money, and wants to go west,” Costner said of his ideal investors. “And it’s like: Now let’s see how much of a gambler you are. Because everything I have is in the movie.”
When asked at a Cannes press conference about his struggle to finance the project, Costner said, “I don’t know why it was so hard.”

Beckinsale <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kate-beckinsale-keanu-reeves-saved-embarrassing-wardrobe-malfunction">recalled</a> a moment at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival, when she walked the red carpet alongside Reeves, Denzel Washington, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, and Robert Sean Leonard to promote their film adaption of the Shakespearean comedy &#8220;Much Ado About Nothing.&#8221; A slight mishap with her undergarments, she explained, resulted in both Reeves and Leonard helping her hold things in place as the three actors stepped in front of the cameras.

The 41-year-old made the comments while promoting her new film “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">May December</a>” at the 2023 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cannes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cannes Film Festival</a>.
&#8220;The whole film is so much about performance and the different roles we play in different environments, for different people, for ourselves, even,&#8221; Portman said, explaining how this concept of societal norms segregated by gender is &#8220;something I&#8217;m definitely curious about and interested in.&#8221;
&#8220;This aspect of, even here — the different ways we as women are expected to behave at this festival even compared to men,&#8221; she told reporters at the press conference. &#8220;How we&#8217;re supposed to look, how we&#8217;re supposed to carry ourselves.&#8221;
“The expectations are different on you all the time and it affects how you behave, whether you&#8217;re buying into it, whether you&#8217;re rejecting it, or whether you&#8217;re doing something in between,&#8221; Portman said. &#8220;You&#8217;re definitely defined by the social structures upon you.&#8221;
“May December” is about a couple (Julianne Moore and Charles Melton) getting ready for their children to graduate from high school and go to college, according to <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/natalie-portman-julianne-moore-may-december-first-look-cannes-1235599444/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a>.
Portman plays a young actress who is cast to play Moore’s character in the film version of their lives. She goes to their home to study who they really are, which causes turmoil as she digs into their private sphere. “May December” is directed by Todd Haynes (Carol) and written by co-screenwriters Samy Burch and Alex Mechanik. Portman and Will Ferrell are the producers of the project.
&#8220;An age gap is one thing, but a relationship between an adult and a child is something else entirely,&#8221; Moore said during the panel discussion about her character. &#8220;Her transgression, I believe, personally, is so enormous that she sort of buries it in her own identity, in her own performative femininity.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Jude Law</a> took authenticity to a pungent new level while portraying Henry VIII in the film “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Firebrand</a>.”
“I read several interesting accounts that you could smell Henry three rooms away. His leg was rotting so badly. He hid it with rose oil,” the 50-year-old actor said at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cannes">Cannes Film Festival</a> following the movie’s premiere. “I thought it would have a great impact if I smelt awful.”
Law said he sought a perfume specialist to create a custom blend to resemble the odors emitted from the infamous king. His stench came from leg ulcers he had in the last year of his life. 
“She makes wonderful scents, and she also makes awful scents. She somehow came up with this extraordinary variety of blood, fecal matter and sweat,” the actor said, per <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/global/jude-law-king-henry-firebrand-blood-fecal-matter-sweat-perfume-1235621110/">Variety</a>.
“Initially, I used it very subtly and thought I’d use it myself,” Law added. But then the actor said he got into it and started dousing himself in the noxious concoction. “It became a spray-fest,” he said.
“Firebrand” director Karim Aïnouz agreed that Law’s smell was overwhelming. “When Jude walked in on set, it was just horrible,” he said during the panel.
The film, which received an eight-minute standing ovation at Cannes, was adapted from the novel “Queen’s Gambit.” It follows King Henry VIII’s final days as his sixth wife, Katherine Parr (Alicia Vikander), tries to outwit her murderous husband and save her own life.
Law said he’s not intrigued by the modern royal family drama, however.

He said the recent coronation of King Charles III appealed to him because of its connection to the past. “There was something remarkable about looking at the photos of this medieval ceremony and how it applied to today made me feel very modern.”

The logic behind the assumption was the fact that Heard spent years as a brand ambassador for cosmetics giant L&#8217;Oreal, and the fan Mirren carried included the brand&#8217;s iconic tagline &#8220;worth it.&#8221;
But when Mirren caught wind of the rumor, she quickly released a statement debunking it.
&#8220;No secret message was intended. I am a L’Oréal ambassador, they are a sponsor of the festival, and quite truthfully, I picked up a fan because I was hot,&#8221; Mirren explained, adding, “‘Because You’re Worth It&#8217; is the official L’Oréal Paris slogan.&#8221;

Depp concluded by lambasting the media for taking his life and turning it into &#8220;fiction,&#8221; claiming that journalism today was akin to someone asking a simple question – like wondering how he was doing — but always having a devious ulterior motive.

The first <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pakistan">Pakistani</a> movie to debut at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cannes">Cannes</a> Film Festival, “Joyland,” has been banned in its home country due to themes that the government deemed inappropriate.
“Joyland” got yanked from the schedule just one week before it was supposed to premiere in theaters, per <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/15/asia/pakistan-joyland-release-blocked-intl-hnk/index.html">CNN</a>. The country’s Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) granted a certificate permitting the movie’s release as of this summer, but on Friday that decision changed. 
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a notice saying “Joyland” was now “uncertified” due to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">movie’s</a> content, which features a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">transgender</a> love story.
The notice cited complaints accusing the film of having “highly objectionable material” that contradicts “social values and moral standards of our society.”
According to the movie’s page on the Cannes <a href="https://www.festival-cannes.com/en/festival/films/joyland">website</a>, “Joyland” is about “a happily patriarchal joint family” who “yearn for the birth of a baby boy to continue the family line.” But then, “their youngest son secretly joins an erotic dance theatre and falls for an ambitious trans starlet. Their impossible love story slowly illuminates the entire Rana family’s desire for a sexual rebellion.”
“Joyland” won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize and the unofficial Queer Palm at Cannes in May, the publication noted. It was submitted to the Oscars for consideration as Pakistan’s official entry. Now that it won’t be released locally as planned, “Joyland” runs the risk of being disqualified as it must be shown in theaters for at least seven days before November 30 to be eligible for the international feature film award.
Filmmakers could find a workaround if they’re able to release “Joyland” in another country besides the United States before that deadline. 
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan released a <a href="https://twitter.com/hrcp87/status/1591686495878152192">statement</a> on the withdrawal of certification for “Joyland” as “rabidly transphobic.” The organization also accused the Pakistani government of “[violating] the film producers&#8217; right to freedom of expression.” 
Director Saim Sadiq also complained about the decision on Instagram, saying the ban was “absolutely unconstitutional and illegal.”
“Return the right of our citizens to be able to watch the film that has made their country’s cinema proud world over,” Sadiq <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck6CNP5Mrlr/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D">shared</a>.
“Our film got seen and certified by all three censor boards in August 2022. The 18th amendment in the Pakistani constitution gives all of provinces the autonomy to make their own decision. Yet the Ministry suddenly caved under pressure from a few extremist factions – who have not seen the film – and made a mockery of our federal censor board by rendering their decision irrelevant.”
“Joyland” star Alina Khan, who is the first trans-identifying Pakistani person to star in a movie, also reacted strongly to the ban. 
“I’ve been very sad. There’s nothing against Islam and I don’t understand how Islam can get endangered by mere films,” Khan <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2022/nov/15/alina-khan-joyland-pakistani-trans-film-ban">told</a> The Guardian. “The Pakistani trans community was also very upset.&#8221;
