But how do parents accomplish this without falling into the vice of helicopter parenting? “Our daughter, when she was in fifth grade, was bullied by an LGBTQ club and friends at her school that tried to pressure her to join,” the mother, Jennifer, said. “We started noticing a change in her, and she eventually came to tell us that these students were bullying her.”
“As this is happening, our son, who’s in seventh grade… you start to see him hanging around with the wrong friend group,” the father, Sean, added. “He was starting to withdraw from us as a family… [He] turned to substance abuse at that time.”’
The parents explained how their relationship with their children, especially their son, is not as strong as they desire it to be. Jennifer pointed out their son has expressed a desire for “freedom.”
Dr. Peterson encouraged the parents to reasonably communicate with their son and have him develop a vision for the freedom he wants.
“Freedom and anarchy aren’t the same thing,” he said. “Freedom to do anything? That just makes you anxious. You want ordered freedom.”

Former Olympic gymnast MyKayla Skinner — and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/simone-biles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Simone Biles’</a> former teammate — issued a plea to the Olympic Gold medalist to make the death threats against her family and cyber-bullying stop.
Skinner faced a backlash after she posted a video in June on YouTube <a href="https://abc7news.com/post/mykayla-skinner-calls-simone-biles-put-stop-cyberbullying-after-viral-olympic-post/15154016/#:~:text=The%20public%20controversy%20around%20Skinner's,response%20to%20Skinner's%20earlier%20remarks." target="_blank" rel="noopener">during the gymnastic Olympic trials</a> in which she talked about how she felt work ethics have changed among gymnasts, not counting Biles, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/mykayla-skinner-asks-simone-biles-stop-cyberbullying-olympics-1235967818/">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported. 
“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t what it used to be,” Skinner said, at the time. “I mean, obviously, a lot of girls just don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic.” 
The Olympics started July 26th and on July 31st Biles appeared to send a cryptic message to her former teammate, writing on social media, “Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions,” in the caption next to a photo of the U.S. Team celebrating its victory after getting the gold.
On Tuesday, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C-VTyXsJFp6/">Skinner</a> pleaded with Biles to get her followers to stop making hateful comments and threats to her, her husband, and their 10-month-old daughter.

“Watching people cheer on the bullying — which has led to threats of physical harm to me my husband and our daughter — is disgusting,” she added. “So please at this point, I’m just asking for it to stop for the sake of my family because enough is enough.”
Skinner noted that she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C9GKeblSLPT/">apologized</a> for her past comments on July 6 and personally reached out to her former teammates amid the backlash, noting that Biles was the only person who responded to her, saying that she was proud of her. The former gymnast said when Biles made the post it came as a “surprise” to her. 
“If Simone truly believes that I called our team lazy and lacking talent and if that’s really how she feels, I am really heartbroken over it,” the former gymnast said. “But not just heartbroken because it isn’t what I feel or even how I previously said, but because Simone’s latest post and others that followed it fueled another wave of hateful comments, DMs, articles and emails.
“Hate that includes death threats to me, my family, and even my agent,” she added.”My family and my friends don’t deserve to be caught in the crossfire here. They’ve done nothing.”
She concluded her post pleading with Biles to “please put a stop to this. Please ask your followers to stop.”
“You have been an incredible champion for mental health awareness and a lot of people need your help now,” Skinner said.  “We’ve been attacked in ways that I’m certain you never intended. Your performance, the team’s performance and the Olympics in general should be a time that we support one another.”

There&#8217;s an inconvenient paradox that, at one point or another, every social justice scholar has to wrestle with. And that paradox is this: Even as the entire country forcibly implements every single one of their wish-list items — no matter how extreme or untethered from reality — the result is that people&#8217;s lives get objectively worse. And I&#8217;m not just talking about a little worse. Pretty much everyone&#8217;s life gets measurably worse, by a lot.
If you have a child in a public school system, you know that students have suffered in particular. But you may not realize how stark the decline has been, because no one&#8217;s really reported on the specific numbers. A couple of years ago, the Department of Education took a look at <a href="https://nces.ed.gov/pubs2022/2022092.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">serious incidents</a> occurring in public schools in the 2009-2010 school year. Then they compared that data with the number of serious incidents that occurred a decade later, in the 2019-2020 school year (which was mostly pre-pandemic). 
This is what&#8217;s known in the statistics biz as a &#8220;longitudinal&#8221; analysis — and if there&#8217;s one thing Leftists hate, it&#8217;s longitudinal analysis. You&#8217;re not supposed to think about the past because, if you do that, you might realize it was a lot better than the current progressive experiment we&#8217;re all living through.
And as the Department of Education <a href="https://www.edweek.org/leadership/school-crime-and-safety-what-a-decade-of-federal-data-show/2022/07">found</a>, that&#8217;s especially true in schools. The percentage of public schools reporting &#8220;widespread disorder in the classroom&#8221; at least once per week, increased by more than 60% from 2009 to 2019. I&#8217;ll say that again. Rates of &#8220;widespread disorder in the classroom&#8221; jumped by more than 60% in a decade. Meanwhile, the percentage of public schools reporting &#8220;student verbal abuse of teachers&#8221; at least once per week, as well as &#8220;cyberbullying,&#8221; increased by more than 100%. &#8220;Racial and ethnic tensions&#8221; among students increased by more than 30%.
How could that be? This was the era of Barack Obama and teachable moments. This was the era we learned that gender is a social construct. This was the era that pride parades became mandatory in every major city in the country. It was also, you might remember, the era that every newspaper and media outlet in the country began harping about police brutality. This was the decade of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, and so on. BLM and racial tolerance were on the upswing.
Could all of this Left-wing social engineering have backfired? Could it be the reason schools were now far more chaotic and dangerous than ever?

Confronted with this problem, school administrators had two choices. They could have admitted that the progressive experiment was failing, and started disciplining students and restoring order — without regard to skin color or ethnicity or anything like that. Or they could come up with a way to cook the statistics. 
In the end, they decided on the latter option. And the hysteria of the so-called &#8220;racial reckoning&#8221; post-George Floyd gave them their opening. As the BLM moral panic overtook the world back in 2020, the idea of &#8220;restorative practices&#8221; or &#8220;restorative justice&#8221; took hold in schools all over the country. 
A new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-rights-group-warns-about-new-disciplinary-technique-sweeping-the-nation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the parental rights group &#8220;Parents Defending Education&#8221; found that more than 18,000 schools — across more than 500 school districts — now have these &#8220;restorative&#8221; policies in place. It is ubiquitous. In late 2020, school officials trumpeted this approach as a major breakthrough. 
For example, here&#8217;s how the Coachella Valley Unified School District in California framed the arrival of restorative justice:

So in the name of &#8220;restorative justice,&#8221; they stop detentions and suspensions in this school district — which covers more than a dozen schools across 1,200 square miles. And what do you know? The number of suspensions went down. They stop suspending people, and therefore the number of suspensions goes down. We&#8217;re meant to believe this is a sign that the new approach is working.
But of course it&#8217;s not a sign it&#8217;s working. It&#8217;s the opposite. It&#8217;s the same reason the number of traffic citations in San Francisco has just gone to zero. It&#8217;s not because everyone in San Francisco drives perfectly now. It&#8217;s because the police stopped enforcing traffic laws (and shoplifting laws, and public urination laws, and every other law.)
As for the other claims about &#8220;restorative justice&#8221; — how it&#8217;s promoted &#8220;better relationships&#8221; in the school and so on — well, that&#8217;s not remotely accurate either. And we know that because, a little over a year after the report I just showed you, the reality of the situation became impossible to ignore. Armed with &#8220;restorative justice,&#8221; schools in Coachella Valley became much more violent. Watch:

This is why you have to be very careful whenever anyone cites statistics about crime or violence or any kind of dysfunction. They&#8217;ll say it&#8217;s going down. Meanwhile, you can go outside and talk to anyone, and they&#8217;ll tell you the opposite. That&#8217;s because the statistics are extremely easy to manipulate. Stop enforcing the rules, and the statistics will show that there are fewer rule-breakers.
Eventually, this news report gets around to acknowledging that. They make the observation that the number of suspensions has been plummeting, even as the fights are obviously becoming more common. And then they connect the dots with &#8220;restorative justice.&#8221; Watch:

This kind of slow, burning realization has played out all over the country in just the past few years. For example, around last Thanksgiving, a school in Memphis, Trezevant High, promoted its own &#8220;restorative practices.&#8221; They&#8217;re a little more vague than the Coachella school district, and they don&#8217;t use the term &#8220;restorative justice.&#8221;
But according to Parents Defending Education, in most cases, the two terms are basically interchangeable. Here&#8217;s what it means at Trezevant High:

Yes, &#8220;restorative practices&#8221; mean &#8220;being kind to each other&#8221; and &#8220;being responsible.&#8221; Before we had the social justice terminology of &#8220;restorative practices,&#8221; no one ever knew how to &#8220;be kind&#8221; or &#8220;responsible.&#8221; That&#8217;s the implication. Who needs religion or morality when you have social justice Leftism?
Well, not to spoil anything, but it turns out that we still need religion and morality — because &#8220;restorative practices&#8221; have been a disaster at Trezevant. 
In just the past month, a student and a teacher got into a fight on camera, and a student allegedly popped off some shots on school grounds.

Anyone looking at this school knows that &#8220;restorative practices&#8221; aren&#8217;t the solution to this chaos. Being &#8220;kind&#8221; isn&#8217;t working out. These students (and the parents and teachers, apparently) don&#8217;t need to be told how wonderful they are. They&#8217;re completely out of control.
So are the students in the majority-black Hazelwood School District in Missouri. During the BLM insanity, Hazelwood put out a <a href="https://www.hazelwoodschools.org/site/default.aspx?DomainID=4&amp;FlexDataID=19903&amp;ModuleInstanceID=43&amp;PageID=1&amp;PageType=3&amp;RenderLoc=0&amp;ViewID=6446EE88-D30C-497E-9316-3F8874B3E108" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> vowing to &#8220;promote restorative justice practices across our organization but in particular to reduce disparities around student discipline.&#8221; So they&#8217;re all-in on the whole ideology.
How&#8217;s that working out? What&#8217;s happened after years of efforts to &#8220;reduce disparities&#8221; and &#8220;restore justice&#8221;? This was the scene a couple of blocks away from school, back in March:

The white girl who was beaten <a href="https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-courts/girl-injured-in-fight-near-hazelwood-east-has-brain-bleeding-skull-fracture-family-says/article_f91371d6-e174-11ee-9e2d-c3f5a5bc4ff3.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suffered</a> brain bleeding and a skull fracture. She spent a month in the hospital, followed by rehab.
In response to this footage, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said he wanted the attacker to be charged as an adult. He didn&#8217;t want restorative justice; he wanted actual justice. He also said he was <a href="https://apnews.com/article/dei-diversity-school-beating-missouri-hazelwood-928cd2980047d9f6c37351901f7d0e29" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigating</a> possible violations of human rights laws. He wrote, “I am launching an investigation into Hazelwood School District after a student was senselessly assaulted by another student in broad daylight. &#8230; The entire community deserves answers on how Hazelwood’s radical DEI programs resulted in such despicable safety failures that resulted in a student fighting for her life.” (Several of those DEI policies were <a href="https://x.com/libsoftiktok/status/1766982044859478191" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unearthed</a> by Libs of TikTok on her Twitter feed.)
Bailey also wrote that &#8220;“the absence of SROs [school resource officers] on the scene is directly attributable to Hazelwood’s insistence on prioritizing race-based policies over basic student safety.”
What did the Hazelwood school district do in response? You already know the answer to that question. They accused the attorney general of racism. The school district&#8217;s lawyer said that Bailey has, &#8220;obvious racial bias against majority minority school districts.&#8221; The lawyer also claimed that school resource officers, &#8216;“would not have prevented a fight from occurring off school property and outside of the school day.” And then they filed an <a href="https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/education/hazelwood-schools-files-ethics-complaint-against-ag-bailey-over-dei-investigation/article_518f7ca0-07d2-11ef-a43d-9f3e0e63bf97.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ethics</a> complaint against the attorney general. So basically, they&#8217;re absolving themselves completely. They have shown no signs whatsoever that they intend to revisit their commitment to &#8220;restorative justice.&#8221;
Of course, what&#8217;s happening in Missouri (and across the country) is a multi-faceted problem. &#8220;Restorative justice&#8221; isn&#8217;t helping, but it&#8217;s obviously not the sole cause of all of this chaos in schools. It starts with terrible parenting, which is maybe the single greatest predictor of dysfunction that exists in the world.
What &#8220;restorative justice&#8221; does is validate and absolve this dysfunction. Instead of making any real effort to correct it, the point is to enable it — while also hiding it from public view as much as possible.
We see the same approach to &#8220;restorative justice&#8221; in the criminal justice system, where the stakes are higher and the results, predictably, are even worse. In the nation&#8217;s capital, &#8220;restorative justice&#8221; means you can <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/05/14/us-news/teen-accused-of-firing-26-shots-from-ar-15-at-car-released-on-bail-by-woke-judge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fire</a> 26 rounds from an AR-15 at a moving vehicle, on camera, and get out of jail immediately. It means you can <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/fox-christmas-tree-arsonist-lam-freed-bail" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commit</a> arson and <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/men-attacked-nypd-officers-released-132436645.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attack</a> police officers with impunity.
Where well-adjusted people see an obvious problem here, the promoters of &#8220;restorative justice&#8221; see a success story. The beatings will continue until the restorative justice improves. That&#8217;s their approach. In school districts all over the country, children are now living with the consequences.

There&#8217;s a new religion in the United States: secular Leftism.
And it demands that you ignore facts. Instead, you just look at the narrative presented and then believe it. This is what the #MeToo movement was about. It didn&#8217;t matter if you asked for ancillary facts to support a contention; it didn&#8217;t matter if you weren&#8217;t even really doubting the contention and just wanted some evidentiary support.
No, you needed to believe all women.
When it comes to DEI, it&#8217;s the same sort of schtick. You&#8217;re supposed to believe DEI is good for business, that it&#8217;s good for everyone, that it has positive externalities.
Intersectionality? Same sort of thing. 
These are narratives, and the narratives must be believed. The media loves seizing on particular stories they believe drive the narrative and then ignoring all of the facts of those stories in order to achieve the narrative.
The latest example of this nonsense comes courtesy of a terrible story out of Oklahoma in which a 16-year-old girl who called herself “gender non-binary” died. Her name was Nex Benedict. According to the media, she collapsed the day after an altercation in a girls bathroom at a public high school.
This confused teenager died in tragic circumstances, but we don&#8217;t actually know how this person died. The one thing that we do know, according to the autopsy now, is that this person was not actually murdered in the bathroom. The original reports out of this Oklahoma school were that this person had an altercation in a girls bathroom with other girls and then was effectively beaten to death, or, at least, injured so badly she ended up dying the next day.

So the media ran with the story. Not only did they run with the story, but they also used this story as a prop in order to push against two particular political elements.
The first is Chaya Raichik, aka Libs of TikTok, whose great sin in the modern political world has been to take clips of the Left doing things and expose them to broader public view so people notice. It’s not even her advocacy they hate; it&#8217;s the fact that people are doing something publicly, wanting attention, and then she gives them attention — but the attention they get is from people who don&#8217;t provide a warm round of applause for all of their insanity.
Raichik serves on the statewide library advisory board for the state of Oklahoma.
This meant the media were now going to try to pin the death of this young lady on her because they&#8217;ve been trying to blame pretty much everything on her for the last couple of years. If there&#8217;s a bomb threat at a hospital that provides “gender affirming care” after Raichik reveals what exactly they do at the hospital, they blame it on her.
When a girl dies in disputed circumstances in an Oklahoma high school, they try to blame Raichik. The basic idea is that she&#8217;s a “stochastic terrorist,” a term they&#8217;ve been using for her for the last couple of years. It&#8217;s a term that means nothing. It&#8217;s a term in which they suggest that without inciting, she is, in fact, responsible for incitement — despite the fact that she’s never called for violence against anybody.
But they&#8217;re going to claim she is responsible for violence that is done by anybody who might theoretically see material that she posts, including material of people who publicly posted the material themselves. Thus, she&#8217;s target number one.
Target number two is a law in the state of Oklahoma that says you have to go to the school bathroom that corresponds with your biological sex. You cannot be a boy and go into the girls bathroom just because you claim you are a girl. And if you&#8217;re a girl and you claim that you&#8217;re gender non-binary, you can&#8217;t walk into the boys bathroom and start using the urinal.
So the media jumped on this case immediately; it became national news when Benedict died.
There are many people who die across the country every day in the United States, and many of them are clearly murdered. We&#8217;re not talking under disputed circumstances. We are talking, every day in the United States, many, many people are murdered. The fact that people of color, minorities, young black males, get murdered disproportionately pretty much every day in the United States gets zero media coverage because that would not promote the narrative the Left wishes to promote, which is that basically everything in the United States is a result of American racism because it turns out that the vast majority of those people who are being killed are also being killed by other young black males.
The media don&#8217;t cover that. The facts don&#8217;t matter to them. Only the narrative matters.
The narrative in the Oklahoma case seemed to be one the Left could use, so they jumped in with both feet. Teen Vogue, which has suddenly become a source of information, pushed a <a href="https://www.teenvogue.com/story/nex-benedict-everything-we-know-about-16-year-old-oklahoma-students-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener">piece</a> saying:
<blockquote>Nex Benedict, a 16-year-old Oklahoma high school sophomore, was beaten by three girl classmates in the bathroom of Owasso High School on Feb. 7. On Feb. 8, Nex – who identified within the Two Spirit, transgender, and gender nonconforming (2STGNC) umbrella – was declared dead at the hospital.
Now LGBTQ+ Oklahomans are mourning the loss of a straight-A student, a Minecraft fan, and animal lover – a teenager – in a school district previously targeted by Libs of TikTok’s Chaya Raichik; Raichik now sits on the statewide library advisory board. In 2023, Oklahoma censured the state’s only nonbinary representative — not to mention signing into law a bill forcing public school students to use the bathroom associated with their gender assigned at birth; advocates are currently closely watching several anti-trans pieces of legislation.
Before Benedict’s name was made public, a source who claimed to be the mother of Benedict’s best friend told a local outlet the cause of death was “complications from brain trauma,” and that “three older girls were beating the victim and her daughter in the girl’s bathroom.” (We are not linking because the story uses Benedict’s deadname. According to Freedom Oklahoma, it’s not presently clear which pronouns Benedict used, so this story will refrain from using pronouns for Nex.)
The media are not interested in reporting actual facts. And if you read these stories, you have no idea if this person is a biological girl or if this person is a biological boy.</blockquote>
But again, obscuring information is what the legacy media do. Teen Vogue continues:
<blockquote>The anonymous source also alleged that Benedict couldn’t “walk to the nurses’ station” without assistance and that the school did not call an ambulance, while the school claims they were unaware of the fight until informed by a parent.
Texts allegedly sent by Nex after the fight to a family member … began, “I got jumped at school 3 on 1 had to go to the ER… They had been bullying me and my friends and I got tired of it so I poured some water on them and all 3 came after me. School did not report to the police and is probably getting sued.”
Benedict’s grandmother Sue, who also adopted Nex, brought Nex to the hospital after the fight, then home again; the next day, Nex was brought back to the hospital and was pronounced dead. Sue told The Independent that Nex was suspended for two weeks from school on the day of the fight; Sue also mentioned that Nex had been bullied throughout this school year.</blockquote>
So everybody on the Left ran with this story; it became front-page news across the country.
But as it turns out, this person may not have died as a result of the actual beating. USA Today <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/02/22/nex-benedict-case-oklahoma/72695904007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on this yesterday, saying, “As police continued Thursday to probe the death of an Oklahoma teen … authorities announced a preliminary autopsy showed the student&#8217;s death was not the result of ‘trauma.’”
They have not yet released the results of a toxicology report, so we have no information on whether drugs or anything else was involved.
What we do know is that the autopsy does not attribute the death to trauma.

But it doesn&#8217;t matter. The cat is already out of the bag. The story already has legs and it&#8217;s already running because this is the way our legacy media work.
So this becomes just another hate crime against a person who apparently was involved in an ongoing altercation with these other girls, pouring water on them; they were beating her up.
Again, bullying of any sort is truly terrible and shouldn&#8217;t be tolerated at any school. But the media attempts to turn this into a weapon against the basic idea that biological sex exists or against legislation suggesting girls should be protected from boys in the girls bathroom.
There&#8217;s no evidence whatsoever that the Oklahoma law that says the girls should go to the girls bathroom is responsible for this.
USA Today continued in their report:
<blockquote>A news story that went viral about Nex&#8217;s death included allegations that teachers failed to summon medical care for the teenager after the altercation, and that Nex was so badly injured in the fight that they could not walk on their own. Police and school officials said the claims were false.
In a statement on Facebook, the Owasso Police Department said each student involved in the fight &#8220;walked under their own power to the assistant principal’s office and nurse’s office&#8221; after it was broken up. A registered nurse at the school then assessed the health of each student involved in the fight, according to police. Though she determined that &#8220;ambulance service was not required,&#8221; the nurse recommended that Nex &#8220;visit a medical facility for further examination,&#8221; the statement said. Nex was taken to the hospital that afternoon.</blockquote>
None of this matters to the Left. 
The narrative is more important.
How many race stories about supposed systemic American racism by police have turned out to be lies, whether it is the “hands up don&#8217;t shoot” narrative of Michael Brown or whether it was the supposedly racial killing of George Floyd (that provided zero evidence whatsoever that anything that happened was motivated by race)? Zero evidence was even alleged or presented in court in that case that proved racism, beyond which it is pretty obvious George Floyd died of medical complications and not because of the mishandling by Derek Chauvin according to autopsy reports.
Another example: the death of Matthew Shepard being attributed to homophobia.
It doesn&#8217;t matter once the narrative is set. The media is populated by people on the far Left. Those people on the far Left have a story they want to tell about the way the world works. And if the evidence does not line up with the story, they just ignore the evidence, and they tell the story they want to tell in pursuit of the ends they want to pursue.

&#8220;I find that amazing, to tell my daughter that you’ve written like 40 books and you’re dyslexic because she was getting bullied at school for not being able to read like all the other kids,&#8221; she added.

A Texas <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/education" target="_blank" rel="noopener">school</a> district is demanding parents fork over more than $7,000 for public records about bullying in the district.
The Joshua Independent School District, which sits just south of Fort Worth, <a href="https://www.goldwaterinstitute.org/school-district-demands-7k-to-reveal-how-often-kids-are-getting-bullied/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded</a> that mom Terrie Chumchal pay the exorbitant sum when she tried to get to the bottom of the district&#8217;s bullying problem.
For two years, Chumchal&#8217;s son, who is now in eighth grade, was bullied relentlessly both verbally and physically, according to his family. A lot of the bullying focused on his Korean American heritage, and one assault even left the young boy with a ruptured eardrum, they said.
Last month, Chumchal filed a public records request with the school district for the number of bullying, incident, assault, police, and grievance reports filed in Joshua Independent between 2015 and 2022. Lawyers for the district responded that this information would cost a whopping $7,111.12.
The district <a href="https://www.goldwaterinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2022-12-02-Submitted-Attorney-General-Complaint.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that it will have to manually retrieve all 6,636 pages of bullying and other incident reports and manually redact all confidential information since it does not have any &#8220;existing documents reflecting a total number&#8221; or &#8220;the resources to run a search for reports automatically.&#8221;
However, the mom simply wanted to find out the number of bullying reports and was not seeking to view the content of the reports, so redactions are unnecessary, her attorney argued.
Last week, Chumchal&#8217;s attorney Warren Norred filed an <a href="https://www.goldwaterinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2022-12-02-Submitted-Attorney-General-Complaint.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeal</a> with the Texas Attorney General’s Office challenging the district&#8217;s high fee. Norred is volunteering his services with the conservative Goldwater Institute, which is helping the family challenge the district&#8217;s fee.
“Parents shouldn’t have to pay thousands of dollars just to access simple information about what’s happening in their children’s schools,” Norred said.
“Texas law is clear on the matter — and I intend to fight this excessive public records fee and defend Terrie’s right to access public information,” the attorney added.
The mom said the ordeal has taken a toll on her family, but she is hopeful.
&#8220;When you start seeing the pattern here, it appears the district is discouraging people from asking for information. If the sort of cruel, horrific bullying that my son has been a victim of is a widespread issue, don’t parents deserve to know about it?&#8221; Chumchal told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;Our experience has been painful and stressful for our family. I hope my sharing will strengthen others to stand up and fight for their rights. Retaliation is real, and that&#8217;s what keeps parents silent. But I am hopeful that by standing up, things can change, and other children and families won&#8217;t have to suffer,&#8221; the mom said.
Other districts have charged parents similarly eye-popping amounts of money for public records reports.
In August, the nearby Fort Worth Independent School District <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fort-worth-parents-charged-over-1200-to-see-curriculum-book-lists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> parents nearly $1,300 to see the public school district’s K-12 curriculum book lists. One mom, who is an attorney, filed a complaint over the charge.
Similarly, a Rhode Island mom was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-not-welcome-rhode-island-mom-sues-school-district-over-secret-meetings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> by her kindergarten daughter&#8217;s school district that the public records she requested on the curriculum would cost $74,000. She was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/stay-at-home-mom-sued-by-nations-largest-teachers-union-after-investigating-crt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued</a> by the largest teachers’ union in the country, which sought to block her numerous requests for public records.
Over the last two years, frustrated parents across the country have gone head-to-head with public school districts on a litany of issues, including inappropriate curriculum content and school safety, sometimes giving school boards a piece of their mind at school board meetings.
Attorneys for the Joshua Independent School District responded to a request for comment by pointing to the district&#8217;s claim that it must &#8220;manually retrieve all potentially responsive reports, then review, and redact confidential information.&#8221;

School District Demands Over $7K From Parents For Bullying Records

Paso Robles school board in the central valley of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/california" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a> has delayed discussions over amending its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bullying" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bullying</a> policies and removing certain specific protective features for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lgbtq" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LGBTQ</a> students.
An original anti-bullying policy was created in 2020 and <a href="https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/education/article264339616.html">reportedly</a> describes the ways in which the district deals with discrimination, bullying, and harassment in order to follow federal and state laws. It also provides clarity on what students and staff are not allowed to do.
According to The Tribune, the policy generally <a href="https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/education/article264339616.html">bans</a> “unlawful discrimination targeting a student, including discriminatory harassment, intimidation, or bullying, based on the student’s actual or perceived race, color, ancestry, nationality, national origin, immigration status, ethnic group identification, ethnicity, age, religion, marital status, pregnancy, parental status, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, or any other legally protected status or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.”
“We are working with counsel to make sure our policies and regulations accurately reflect state mandates to protect all students including those in all protected classes, including LGBTQ,” district Superintendent Curt Dubost told the San Luis Obispo Tribune over text message. “They (LGBTQ) all still come under anti-discrimination for all, just not listed separately.”
The original policy also had a specific area for “issues unique to intersex, nonbinary, transgender and gender non-conforming students.” It also reportedly explained definitions for “gender identity,” “gender expression,” “intersex,” “nonbinary,” “transgender” and “gender non-conforming” students.
The school board was scheduled to consider a new version this week that cut almost that whole portion. The policy would instead be <a href="https://edsource.org/updates/paso-robles-school-trustees-delay-rollback-of-lbgtq-student-protections-after-objections-are-raised">more</a> widespread, but the decision was tabled after members of the community <a href="https://edsource.org/updates/paso-robles-school-trustees-delay-rollback-of-lbgtq-student-protections-after-objections-are-raised">expressed</a> disapproval of the potential move.
“I think this is an issue that has to simmer a little while in the community,” Board President Chris Arend <a href="https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/education/article264373651.html">said</a> at the gathering.
The new version would have kept in place the ability for students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that align with their chosen gender identity, but it got rid of other specific defenses. It would also get rid of a rule that made district employees use “a name and the pronoun(s) consistent with the student’s gender identity, without the necessity of a court order or a change to the student’s official district record,” at the request of the student.
It would also delete a portion that said: “A student has the right to dress in a manner consistent with the student’s gender identity, subject to any dress code adopted on a school site.”

In April, the family of a 6-year-old Dominick Krankall <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/6-year-old-boy-burned-in-horrific-bullying-attack-involving-tennis-ball-according-to-family">accused</a> other neighborhood children of a bullying attack after Krankall suffered second- and third-degree burns, but newly released surveillance footage casts doubt on the family&#8217;s allegation.
Dominick Krankall was reportedly playing in the backyard at his family’s home in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with neighborhood children when the incident occurred. The children, who were unattended, were reportedly lighting things on fire with gasoline, and Krankall’s mother and sister claimed the 6-year-old was set on fire by bullies who threw a tennis ball at him. However, those claims have come into question after police said there was no wrongdoing, and footage of the incident was released to the public, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10938771/New-video-casts-doubt-bullying-claims-Connecticut-boy-suffered-burns.html">according</a> to the Daily Mail.
“Newly released video appears to disprove a Connecticut mother&#8217;s claims that her son was targeted by bullies when he was hit in the face with a burning ball, instead showing a seeming accident as kids play dangerously with fire,” the Mail reported.
The video shows three young boys playing in the family’s backyard, including Krankall, and pouring gasoline on a soccer ball, not a tennis ball. Krankall is then seen on camera with his head and lower body on fire. One of the neighbor boys appears to help Krankall by using his hands to smother the fire on Krankall’s head.

After the incident, Krankall’s mother Maria Rua told ABC News that the other neighborhood kids “purposefully threw a gasoline-saturated ball that they lit on fire at my son’s face. They called his name so he would turn around. They threw it at Dominick and left him outside alone to die.”
The incident and ensuing bullying allegations gained national attention, and Krankall’s family raised more than $500,000 through GoFundMe.
Now, the newly released video <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10938771/New-video-casts-doubt-bullying-claims-Connecticut-boy-suffered-burns.html">footage</a> of the family&#8217;s backyard appears to show Krankall was burned in an accident, not a targeted bullying attack. The video also clearly shows one of the boys helping Krankall, not abandoning him as Rua claimed.
The family of one of the boys accused of bullying Krankall is reportedly threatening to sue over the allegations.
“Dominick was not left there to die. My 11-year-old son Lorenzo saved him, took his bare hands and took the fire out on his face,” said Laura Giacobbe, the mother of one of the boys playing with Krankall.
Giacobbe said the bullying allegations against her son resulted in threats made against her family. “The police department had to sit in front of the home overnight, to make sure nothing happened. It was stated the house would be lit on fire, they were going to drag my son and myself down the street and let us suffer from the pain,” she said.
Krankall&#8217;s family said that &#8220;their information was based on what the boy told them about the incident, and pointed out that key moments of the incident are not visible on the video,&#8221; the mail wrote.
Krankall is reportedly recovering well from his burns.

The family of a 6-year-old boy says he suffered second- and third-degree burns after a bullying attack.
Dominick Krankall was reportedly playing in the backyard at his family’s home in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with neighborhood children when the attack occurred. The children, who were unattended, were reportedly lighting things on fire with gasoline, and one of the other children targeted Krankall with a tennis ball that had been soaked in gasoline and lit on fire. Krankall’s sister, Kayla Deegan, <a href="https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/mommy-they-lit-me-on-fire-ct-6-year-old-burned-in-horrific-bully-attack-family-says/3664919/">told</a> NBC New York that a “bully called his name and lured him over around the corner.&#8221;
&#8220;In a matter of seconds he came back around the corner screaming, saying, &#8216;Mommy, they lit me on fire,'&#8221; Deegan told the outlet.
She said that an 8-year-old neighbor had gotten into a shed in the family’s backyard and found gasoline and lighters, then called Krankall over.
“What he did was pour gasoline on a tennis ball, took a lighter, lit it up and just chucked it right at my brother’s face — and then ran away from him and watched him burn,” Deegan said.
The incident occurred on Sunday, and Krankall was taken to the hospital just before 4 p.m. Photos obtained by NBC New York show Krankall in a hospital bed with bandages wrapped around his entire head except for his eyes and mouth, which is swollen.
“Most of Dominick Krankall&#8217;s body is now swollen and bandaged up after the Bridgeport boy suffered second- and third-degree burns to his face and legs on Sunday,” the outlet reported.
“Hospital officials said that the boy is expected to recover. Dominick is lucky to have survived the incident, but what happened to him left loved ones outraged — because they said that this incident isn&#8217;t the first time the alleged bully has put him in the hospital,” NBC New York added.
Krankall’s mother, Maria Rua, <a href="https://abc7ny.com/boy-burned-connecticut-dominick-krankall-maria-rua/11796289/">told</a> ABC 7 that Krankall’s “face is about twice the size it normally is” and that he’s “swollen with blisters.”
“You can&#8217;t even see his beautiful eyes anymore,&#8221; she added.
Deegan said the same child who threw the tennis ball has previously harmed her little brother.
&#8220;Two months ago under the bully’s mother&#8217;s supervision, [Dominick] was pushed into a wall and fell to the floor. And again, the mother refuses to admit her kid did it,&#8221; Deegan said.
Rua told ABC that her son had “been bullied by this child for a year.”
“That day, they purposefully threw a gasoline-saturated ball that they lit on fire at my son&#8217;s face. They called his name so he would turn around. They threw it at Dominick and left him outside alone to die,&#8221; she told the outlet.
The injured boy’s family wants justice.
&#8220;It&#8217;s heartbreaking, it&#8217;s sickening to know the family. There&#8217;s nothing being done about this,&#8221; Deegan said. &#8220;This needs to be seen everywhere so everyone knows Dom’s story and what he had to go through, and the extent it went to for someone to hopefully do something.&#8221;
Police and fire investigation teams are investigating the case, but no charges have been filed so far, NBC New York reported. The outlet also reported that Krankall’s family is hoping to raise money to help pay for his hospital expenses and to hopefully move to a new, safer area.
&#8220;He&#8217;s a strong boy though, he&#8217;s coping,&#8221; Rua told ABC. “For what he&#8217;s going through, watching him have to get those bandages off and his face scraped is painful for him and it&#8217;s painful for me to watch that and it&#8217;s not fair to him.&#8221;

6-Year-Old Boy Burned In Horrific Bullying Attack Involving Tennis Ball, According To Family

Notions of “privilege” and claims of “white supremacy” have become rampant not only on college campuses but in K-12 schools as well, with numerous examples of students being taught that the color of their skin determines their success.
In one recent example, this practice is taken to the extreme when a biracial high school senior is berated because he is “apparently white.”
Bonnie Snyder, author and director of high school outreach at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, <a href="https://www.persuasion.community/p/undoctrinate-our-students?token=eyJ1c2VyX2lkIjoxMTk5MTkxOCwicG9zdF9pZCI6NDEzMTg4MzEsIl8iOiJpMEVGSiIsImlhdCI6MTYzMTcwNjgwOSwiZXhwIjoxNjMxNzEwNDA5LCJpc3MiOiJwdWItNjE1NzkiLCJzdWIiOiJwb3N0LXJlYWN0aW9uIn0.Z4tzXhTqy6GoB9QSKzomwRorneUKrWC1OpAHsckCjBk">wrote</a> at Persuasion about the student, whose mother, Gabrielle Clark, ended up suing the school over her son’s treatment.
Gabrielle’s son, William, took his classes remotely so he could work a job and help out his family while his mother was disabled and unemployed. His father had died when he was very young. One day, Gabrielle decided to watch what William was being taught in class, and was horrified to learn that his teachers were bullying him because he was “the only apparent white boy in his class.” As Snyder wrote:

According to the family’s recently filed <a href="https://familiesfored.org/clark-lawsuit/complaint/">lawsuit</a>, William was singled out and subjected to derogatory name-calling and hurtful labeling, based on his physical appearance. His teacher delivered regular “privilege checks” for William, which his mother described as “deliberate and protracted harassment” and “emotional abuse.” The classroom materials even implied that William’s white father probably physically abused his black mother, because—according to his lessons—that’s what white men do.</blockquote>
Gabrielle claims in her lawsuit that William and other students were told to “profess their identities which were then subjected to open, official scrutiny that assigned negative character attributes and worldviews based on unchangeable personal characteristics, such as race and gender,” according to Snyder.
William and some of his fellow students tried to object to the lesson but weren’t allowed to say anything. Further, when William refused to complete similar “identity confession” assignments or to agree with the teachers’ political statements, he was threatened with a failing grade.
Gabrielle hired attorneys to write a letter to the school about William’s treatment. She was granted a meeting with school administrators but said it didn’t seem like they were taking her seriously.
&#8220;That’s when I withdrew my daughter and got the lawyers for my son,” she wrote in the lawsuit she filed afterward. “I’m not playing with these people.”
Her lawsuit claims the school violated her constitutional due process right to “family integrity and autonomy” by stepping on her “right and covenant to guide and direct the upbringing” of her two kids. It is unclear whether such a strategy will work.
Gabrielle and William are not the only ones to face such discrimination in the school system. Snyder also told the story of Roberto Sandoval, who learned his teen daughter was being asked about her “privilege” at school with statements like, “My skin color gives me privileges I didn’t earn … Your skin color gives you struggles you didn’t deserve.”

The school also allegedly compared “whiteness” to the devil.

Model and Democratic activist Chrissy Teigen on Monday broke her month-long silence since reports surfaced that she told a troubled minor to kill herself and bullied other famous young women online.
Teigen, who has taken a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chrissy-teigen-drops-netflix-role-remains-silent-on-social-media">hit in the pocketbook</a> since the troubling reports of her bullying, <a href="https://chrissyteigen.medium.com/hi-again-3bb3faffa76d">wrote</a> a lengthy piece in Medium outlining her regret over her past actions.
&#8220;It has been a VERY humbling few weeks,&#8221; the Sports Illustrated model started the post. &#8220;I want you to know I’ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment, the ultimate &#8216;sit here and think about what you’ve done.&#8217; Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past.&#8221;
It was revealed last month that Teigen routinely targeted then-16-year-old Courtney Stodden with numerous nasty messages that included a “fantasy” of Stodden taking a “dirt nap.”
Stodden, whose mother troublingly signed off on her then-teen daughter’s marriage to a 50-year-old actor, <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-crucifixion-of-courtney-stodden">told</a> The Daily Beast that Teigen even sent her death threats via direct message.
“[Teigen] wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself,” Stodden said. “Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.’”
In mid-May, Teigen publicly acknowledged her disturbing behavior and apologizing to Stodden. The apology, though, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/courtney-stodden-rips-chrissy-teigen-apology-trying-to-save-her-brand-wokeness-a-broken-record">was not well-received by Stodden</a>, who claimed it felt like Teigen was just trying to protect her brand. Stodden also disputed Teigen’s claim that she tried to privately reach out to her; Stodden emphasized her assertions by posting a screenshot showing that Teigen has blocked her on Twitter, apparently preventing a private, direct message conversation.
In her Medium post, Teigen acknowledged that she has yet to reach out privately to Stodden, though she said she&#8217;s &#8220;in the process&#8221; of doing so.
&#8220;I understand that they may not want to speak to me. I don’t think I’d like to speak to me. (The real truth in all of this is how much I actually cannot take confrontation.) But if they do, I am here and I will listen to what they have to say, while apologizing through sobs,&#8221; Teigen wrote.
&#8220;There is simply no excuse for my past horrible tweets,&#8221; the model continued. &#8220;My targets didn’t deserve them. No one does. Many of them needed empathy, kindness, understanding and support, not my meanness masquerading as a kind of casual, edgy humor.&#8221;
&#8220;In reality, I was insecure, immature and in a world where I thought I needed to impress strangers to be accepted,&#8221; Teigen said. &#8220;If there was a pop culture pile-on, I took to Twitter to try to gain attention and show off what I at the time believed was a crude, clever, harmless quip. I thought it made me cool and relatable if I poked fun at celebrities.&#8221;
Now, Teigen has become the victim of &#8220;incredible vitriol,&#8221; she wrote, an &#8220;irony&#8221; that is &#8220;not lost&#8221; on her:

Model Chrissy Teigen is reportedly considering leaving Los Angeles until the furor over recently uncovered messages she sent to others years ago passes.
In early May, reality-TV personality Courtney Stodden revealed bullying messages Teigen had sent to Stodden when Stodden was still a teen. Since the messages were revealed, Teigen has faced significant public backlash as well as potentially some corporate blowback as chain retailers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-macys-pulls-all-chrissy-teigen-products-after-messages-show-how-she-bullied-teen-girl">drop</a> Teigen’s line of cookware.
Teigen is now losing sleep and considering vacating her home in Los Angeles until the public uproar over her messages has blown over, according to <a href="https://okmagazine.com/p/chrissy-teigen-leaving-los-angeles-courtney-stodden-cyberbullying-claims/">OK! Magazine</a>.
“Chrissy genuinely regrets her hateful words,” a source told the magazine.
“Chrissy’s losing sleep because the people she thought were friends aren&#8217;t publicly backing her,” the source said, adding that Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, are considering moving their family out of L.A. for a time.
“The cancel culture backlash has totally caught her off guard,” the source continued. “But she has only herself to blame.”
In recent weeks, multiple women and child stars have claimed that Teigen bullied them through social media, showing messages Teigen sent them or posted about them. The eruption over Teigen’s past social media behavior began with an interview of Courtney Stodden in which she revealed messages showing Teigen urging Stodden to kill herself. As <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-macys-pulls-all-chrissy-teigen-products-after-messages-show-how-she-bullied-teen-girl">The Daily Wire</a> reported:
<blockquote>Stodden revealed Teigen’s messages in a recent interview, saying that Teigen had told her directly to kill herself.

In a series of since-deleted messages, Teigen told Stodden, “My Friday fantasy: you. dirt nap. mmmmmm baby,” “Go. to sleep. Forever,” and “what drug makes you do that with your mouth? asking for a friend who really wants to look like an idiot. thanks.”</blockquote>
Teigen has since apologized for the messages, which are roughly a decade old. Teigen posted an apology to her Twitter account on May 12.
“Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bullshit in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll,” Teigen said. “I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.”
“I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!” she added.
Teigen has avoided the public and stayed off social media since her apology to Stodden.
