NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace angered fans Sunday night during a post-race interview when he gave someone the middle finger while on camera.
Wallace was booed by fans earlier in the day during driver introductions and responded by taunting them with hand gestures mocking their displeasure with him.

After coming in second place in the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race to driver Kyle Larson, Wallace gave an on-camera interview with Fox Sports 1’s Jamie Little.
During the interview, Wallace gave the middle finger while on live television, a gesture that appeared to be directed at fans.

Wallace has been disliked by many NASCAR fans for a long time for a variety of reasons, including <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/their-job-is-to-always-deliver-hate-bubba-wallace-slams-fans-as-he-brushes-aside-assertions-noose-incident-was-a-hoax" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggesting</a> that they are &#8220;simple-minded&#8221; people whose &#8220;job is to always deliver hate.&#8221;
During a race last October, Wallace slammed into Larson on the track, causing him to crash, and then physically attacked him.
The incident happened during Stage 2 of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when Wallace, who won Stage 1, was next to Larson when Larson attempted a three-wide pass.
Larson moved up the track and his car gave a slight tap to Wallace’s car, causing Wallace’s car to brush up against the wall. After brushing up against the wall, Wallace bounced into Larson’s car and then continued by following Larson’s car down the track and slamming into the rear of his car, causing both cars to spin out.

After the crash, Wallace got out of his vehicle and attacked Larson.

Bubba Wallace Gives Middle Finger During Interview, Taunts NASCAR Fans

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nascar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NASCAR</a> COO Steve O&#8217;Donnell slammed driver <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bubba-wallace" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bubba Wallace</a> during an interview Tuesday about the crash that Wallace caused Sunday and his subsequent attack on a driver.
The incident happened during Stage 2 of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when Wallace, who won Stage 1, was next to driver Kyle Larson when Larson attempted a three-wide pass.
Larson moved up the track and his car gave a slight tap to Wallace’s car, causing Wallace’s car to brush up against the wall. After brushing up against the wall, Wallace bounced into Larson’s car and then continued by tracking Larson’s car down the track and slamming into the rear of his car, causing both cars to spin out.
&#8220;Our actions are really specific to what took place on the racetrack,&#8221; O&#8217;Donnell told SiriusXM Speedway host Dave Moody. &#8220;And when we look at how that incident occurred in our minds [it was] really a dangerous act, we thought that was intentional, and put other competitors at risk. And as we look at the sport and where we are today, and where we want to draw that line going forward, we thought that definitely crossed the line. And that&#8217;s what we focused on in terms of making this call.&#8221;
When asked about how NASCAR determined that Wallace&#8217;s actions were intentional, O&#8217;Donnell said that they had a lot of data that they looked at. NBC&#8217;s on-screen telemetry of Wallace’s car “seemed to disprove Wallace’s defense” because measurements showed that Wallace was “all the way down on the gas just before hitting Larson” which the report said would “not have been expected if he did not have control of the steering,” Insider <a href="https://www.insider.com/bubba-wallace-kyle-larson-fight-jeff-burton-2022-10" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> this week.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve got a lot of data available to us,&#8221; O&#8217;Donnell said. &#8220;And we looked at that data and kind of reviewed the incident from a bunch of different angles.&#8221;
O&#8217;Donnell said that Wallace&#8217;s actions were something that NASCAR does not want to see going forward and that fans should not try to compare NASCAR&#8217;s one-race suspension of Wallace to other past actions that NASCAR has taken.

NASCAR suspended Wallace from the next NASCAR Cup Series Championship event after he attacked driver Kyle Larson during the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
&#8220;Wallace was suspended for one race after he crashed Kyle Larson at Lap 94 of the South Point 400 and proceeded to shove Larson, both violations of Sections 4.3.A and 4.4.C &amp; E of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct laid out in the NASCAR Rule Book,&#8221; NASCAR said in a statement. &#8220;Rule 4.4.C lists &#8216;intentionally wrecking or spinning another vehicle, whether or not that vehicle is removed from Competition as a result&#8217; as one of five member actions that could result in a penalty.’”

NASCAR&#8217;s statement on the matter noted that Wallace issued an apology Monday night for the incident but failed to include Wallace&#8217;s full statement in which it was clear that Wallace was not apologizing to Larson for what happened.
Wallace&#8217;s statement said:

Wallace initially did not take any responsibility for his actions during a post-crash NBC interview and claimed that he did not intentionally slam into Larson’s car, only saying that his “steering was gone” and that Larson “just so happened to be there.”
“It was just a piss poor move on his execution,” Wallace claimed.
When asked about getting out of his vehicle and attacking Larson, Wallace responded that Larson knew what the message was that Wallace was trying to send.
“He knows,” Wallace said. “He knows that what he did was wrong. He wanted to question what I was doing. He never cleared me.”

Bubba Wallace Changes Tune Following Backlash To Crash, Refuses To Apologize To Driver He Attacked

The Root&#8217;s Stephanie Holland <a href="https://www.theroot.com/bubba-wallace-has-damaged-his-reputation-with-unprofess-1849666525">slammed</a> Wallace in a piece featured at the top of site on Monday titled, &#8220;Bubba Wallace Has Damaged His Reputation With Unprofessional Post-Race Behavior&#8221;.
The piece at first attempted to suggest without evidence that Wallace would be held to a higher standard than everyone else because he is black but the story soon turned and harshly criticized the driver, especially over his post-crash interview on NBC.
&#8220;Come on, Bubba. This ain’t it and you know it,&#8221; Holland wrote. &#8220;With these cars going between 180 to 200 miles per hour, you damn well know running into the back of another racer at that speed is dangerous and unprofessional. You’re a better driver than that. And for you to not care about involving someone who’s racing for a spot in the championship finals is a**hole behavior.&#8221;
The writer noted that Wallace was likely to receive &#8220;a sizable fine and a possible suspension for the retaliation&#8221; but that the &#8220;stain on his reputation will be harder to come back from.&#8221;
When Wallace was interviewed on NBC after the race, the interviewer pointed out that Cliff Daniels, one of the top NASCAR crew chiefs, said that Wallace’s actions amounted to retaliation and asked then asked Wallace if it was retaliation.
“Cliff is smart enough to know that how easy these cars break so when you get shoved into the fence, like deliberately like he did, trying to force me to lift, steering was gone,” Wallace claimed and then smirked, “he just so happened to be there.”
Wallace claimed, “It was just a piss poor move on his execution.”
“When situations like this happen, Bubba, at this speed, is retaliation an acceptable thing?” the interviewer asked.
“Stop fishing,” Wallace snapped. “Stop fishing.”
“I’m not fishing. I’m just asking you,” the interviewer responded. “Let’s also talk about the message you wanted to send to Kyle by going up to him after the incident.”
“He knows,” Wallace said. “He knows that what he did was wrong. He wanted to question what I was doing. He never cleared me so just hate it for our team, our McDonald’s Toyota Camry was super solid.”

A new report suggests that NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace may have falsely claimed that his steering was broken when he slammed into the side of another NASCAR driver during a race Sunday.
The incident happened during Stage 2 of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when Wallace, who won Stage 1, was next to driver Kyle Larson when Larson attempted a three-wide pass.
Larson moved up the track and his car gave a slight tap to Wallace’s car, causing Wallace’s car to brush up against the wall. After brushing up against the wall, Wallace bounced into Larson’s car and then continued by tracking Larson’s car down the track and slamming into the rear of his car, causing both cars to spin out.
Multiple reports said that the move by Wallace to spin out Larson’s car appeared to be intentional. NASCAR could penalize Wallace if they believe that his actions were deliberate.
During an interview after the crash, Wallace was asked if he retaliated against Larson by intentionally slamming into his car, causing both cars to spinout.
&#8220;Steering was gone,” Wallace <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-bubba-wallace-causes-accident-during-race-then-physically-attacks-the-other-driver">claimed</a> and then smirked, “he just so happened to be there.”
However, Insider <a href="https://www.insider.com/bubba-wallace-kyle-larson-fight-jeff-burton-2022-10">noted</a> in a report that NBC&#8217;s on-screen telemetry of Wallace&#8217;s car &#8220;seemed to disprove Wallace&#8217;s defense&#8221; because measurements showed that Wallace was &#8220;all the way down on the gas just before hitting Larson&#8221; which the report said would &#8220;not have been expected if he did not have control of the steering.&#8221;
After both cars came to a stop, Wallace got out of his car and physically attacked Larson, who is smaller than Wallace.

Larson responded to the incident by saying that Wallace’s aggression was not surprising.
“I obviously made an aggressive move into three and got in low and got loose and chased it up a bit,” Larson said. “And yeah, I mean, he got to my right front, and I got him tight into the wall and knew he was gonna retaliate. So, like I said, I mean, he had a reason to be mad, but his race wasn’t over until he retaliated. So it is what it is. Just, yeah, just aggression turned into frustration and he retaliated.”
When asked on camera if it was appropriate for Wallace to retaliate at that speed, Larson said no, as he pointed to the severity of injuries that could happen.
“I think with everything that’s been going on here lately with head injuries and all that, fractured ligaments and all that I don’t think it’s probably the right thing to do,” Larson said.
Larson did not act angry during the interview and seemed to have a lighter view of the incident, saying that most drivers have lost their cool and retaliated during races.
However, when the same person interviewed Wallace on camera, he took no responsibility for his actions.
The interviewer pointed out that Cliff Daniels, one of the top NASCAR crew chiefs, said that Wallace’s actions amounted to retaliation, and then asked Wallace if it was retaliation.
“Cliff is smart enough to know how easy these cars break so when you get shoved into the fence, like deliberately like he did, trying to force me to lift, steering was gone,” Wallace claimed and then smirked, “he just so happened to be there.”
“It was just a piss poor move on his execution,” Wallace continued.
“When situations like this happen, Bubba, at this speed, is retaliation an acceptable thing?” the interviewer asked.
“Stop fishing,” Wallace snapped. “Stop fishing.”
“I’m not fishing. I’m just asking you,” the interviewer responded. “Let’s also talk about the message you wanted to send to Kyle by going up to him after the incident.”
“He knows,” Wallace said. “He knows that what he did was wrong. He wanted to question what I was doing. He never cleared me so just hate it for our team, our McDonald’s Toyota Camry was super solid.”

Video emerged Sunday afternoon showing hothead NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace touching an official who was trying to talk to him following Wallace&#8217;s violent outburst on another driver moments prior.
The incident with the official, which could compound the problems facing Wallace, came after Wallace got out of his car and physically attacked driver Kyle Larson after Larson gave him a slight bump on the track.
Larson&#8217;s nudge sent Wallace&#8217;s car up against the wall and Wallace appeared to intentionally retaliate by slamming his car against Larson&#8217;s car, sending both cars into a crash that ended both the race for both drivers.
NASCAR fan and NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck tweeted out a clip of the NASCAR official trying to get ahold of Wallace&#8217;s attention and trying to slow him down to talk to him following the attack.
Wallace threw the officials&#8217; hand off of him and refused to stop and listen.

However, when Wallace was interviewed by the same person on camera, he took no responsibility for his actions and got snippy with the interviewer.
The interviewer pointed out that Cliff Daniels, one of the top NASCAR crew chiefs, said that Wallace&#8217;s actions amounted to retaliation and asked then asked Wallace if it was retaliation.
&#8220;Cliff is smart enough to know that how easy these cars break so when you get shoved into the fence, like deliberately like he did, trying to force me to lift, steering was gone,&#8221; Wallace claimed and then smirked, &#8220;he just so happened to be there.&#8221;
Wallace arrogantly claimed, &#8220;It was just a piss poor move on his execution.&#8221;
&#8220;When situations like this happen, Bubba, at this speed, is retaliation an acceptable thing?&#8221; the interviewer asked.
&#8220;Stop fishing,&#8221; Wallace snapped. &#8220;Stop fishing.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not fishing. I&#8217;m just asking you,&#8221; the interviewer responded. &#8220;Let&#8217;s also talk about the message you wanted to send to Kyle by going up to him after the incident.&#8221;
&#8220;He knows,&#8221; Wallace said. &#8220;He knows that what he did was wrong. He wanted to question what I was doing. He never cleared me so just hate it for our team, our McDonald&#8217;s Toyota Camry was super solid.&#8221;
