Two <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/georgia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Georgia</a> deputies were “ambushed” and killed Thursday night while serving a warrant, according to local authorities.
The deputies were <a href="https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/cobb-county/2-cobb-county-sheriffs-deputies-shot-officials-confirm/AONLJLYGP5HENOEITPI7WYAOTQ/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">serving</a> a warrant over failure to appear in court over theft by deception in Cobb County, a populous county northwest of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The two suspected killers have been taken into custody, but their names were not yet released. 
“What I can tell you in this moment is this — in plain terms it is simple, my two deputies were ambushed this evening and killed,” Sheriff Craig D. Owens said. “The two suspects we believe are the perpetrators of this crime are currently in custody and are being held at the Cobb County Police Department for questioning.”
The deceased deputies, who also were not named, had both been with the department for over five years. Owens said he wanted to make sure family notifications were finished before releasing the deputies&#8217; names. 
According to police, both deputies had arrived to serve the warrants and were speaking with one of the suspected killers when they were fired upon from inside a home and a vehicle. After being shot, the deputies were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital.
One officer was <a href="https://www.cbs46.com/2022/09/09/two-cobb-county-officers-killed-line-duty/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">struck</a> in the head, while the other, who died en route to the hospital, was hit in the pelvic area.

After the two deputies were killed, a standoff between authorities and the suspects took place, with both SWAT and FAST teams responding to the scene. 
The suspects were eventually apprehended early Friday morning, at around 12:15 a.m. 
At a press conference, Owens said that the officers had served with “dignity and honor.”
“It is a night of heartache for two families from the Cobb sheriff&#8217;s office, two wives who have lost their amazing husbands,” the sheriff <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/08/us/cobb-county-georgia-sheriffs-deputies-dead/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “These two deputies served Cobb County with dignity and honor.”
He also asked for prayers for the families and the sheriff’s office, saying that “our hearts are broken here in Cobb County.”
Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) also offered his sympathies to the department and the families of the deputies. 
“Marty, the girls, &amp; I were deeply saddened to learn of the killing of these two deputies. Men &amp; women like them bravely serve our communities every day, &amp; we owe them a great debt of gratitude,” he said. “Please join us in praying for their families &amp; fellow law enforcement officers.”

Kemp announced the <a href="///Users/dillonburroughs/Downloads/09.04.22.01.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaration</a> on Sunday after reports of flooded homes and roadways due to ongoing storms across parts of Georgia.
“Following severe flooding in North Georgia today, I have declared a State of Emergency in Chattooga and Floyd Counties. As we work with local partners to address the damage in affected communities, Marty and I are asking all Georgians to join us in praying for the lives and homes impacted,” Kemp shared on Twitter, referencing his wife.

The northwestern counties in Georgia had previously been under alert during to heavy rainfall moving through the area earlier on Sunday.

Major flooding occurred after several inches of rain fell overnight.
Several Summerville intersections are closed, including the intersection at Highway 27 and Highway 114. More rain was expected throughout the day.
Law enforcement reported motorists stranded in vehicles early Sunday with several secondary roads flooded.
Several videos appeared across social media on Sunday of affected areas, including parts of Lyerly Dam Road being underwater.

The National Weather Service said rainfall of up to one inch per hour and up to 10 inches total had fallen in Chattooga County.
“This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order,” the service said, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/floods-storms-georgia-weather-7c08df2c435c7d72fe165d4d2259fba0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to</a> the Associated Press.
The city of Summerville also posted an update to alert residents using the city&#8217;s water utilities to boil water until further notice due to the flooding.
“Water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by their drinking water utility that the water system has been restored to full operation, and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption,” the <a href="https://summervillega.org/2022/09/04/public-boil-water-notice-09-04-22/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> read.
Summerville, the county seat of Chattooga County, has been one of the areas most impacted by the flooding. The town has a population of approximately 4,200 and is located about 90 miles northwest of Atlanta.

A new poll indicates that Georgia&#8217;s Republican Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brian-kemp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brian Kemp </a> and the state&#8217;s GOP Senate candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/herschel-walker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Herschel Walker</a> are leading their Democratic opponents ahead of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2022-midterms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2022 election</a>.
On Tuesday, Emerson College <a href="https://emersoncollegepolling.com/georgia-2022-walker-holds-two-point-lead-over-warnock-in-tight-senate-race-kemp-leads-abrams-by-four/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> an exclusive poll that reported that Walker has a 46% to 44% lead over incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA). Kemp meanwhile leads Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams 48% to 44%.
“Walker leads Warnock among rural voters 58% to 24% while Warnock leads Walker 66% to 25% among urban voters. In the suburbs, voters are breaking for Walker by a nine-point margin, 50% to 41%,” Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling, said in a press release.
The suburbs were a <a href="https://dailyyonder.com/in-georgia-atlanta-suburbs-deliver-for-biden-but-extra-rural-votes-are-part-of-his-lead/2020/11/08/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">crucial component</a> of President Joe Biden&#8217;s Peach State victory, and the lengthy lead in that demographic for Walker could spell good news for the GOP — but Walker&#8217;s lead has tightened since Emerson last polled voters in July.
According to the poll, 36% of voters said the economy was their number one concern.
“While the economy is the most important issue for both male and female voters, the second most important issue differs,” Kimball explained. “Among women, abortion access is the most important concern for 28%, whereas among men, 19% say crime is the most important issue.”
Walker, a political outsider, previously told The Daily Wire that he decided to run for office in part because of how great Georgia is.
“That’s one reason I decided to run for office,” Walker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-know-georgia-is-a-good-place-candidate-herschel-walker-is-still-bullish-on-georgia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “I know Georgia is a good place.”
“Look at myself, that’s where I came from. And I’m black. That’s another thing,” Walker added. “I grew up in, I think, one of the greatest states in the United States of America. Right now, from what people are saying, I can still say it’s one of the best states, and I am going to fight to continue to prove that.”
Walker also expressed his gratitude for the racial progress made in the state since the 1970s, when he played football at University of Georgia.
“We’ve come so far,” the Senate candidate said. “Ten years before I got to the University of Georgia the first black players played at University of Georgia. Today, I will bet you, probably the majority of the players at University of Georgia are African American.”
“So, we’ve come so far since 1971,” he continued. “Do we have a ways to go? We do. But are we getting there? Yes we are.”
Recently, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) held a fundraising event for Walker and two GOP candidates in Kentucky.
“I pick out three of our candidates every summer that I think have the best shot at winning and invite them,” McConnell <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mcconnell-stumps-for-trump-endorsed-republican-candidates-good-chance-of-winning" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “And I picked these three because I thought they were in critical states and had a good chance of winning.”
The general election is on November 8.

Nearly two dozen Republican governors slammed a massive spending bill that Democrats are trying to ram through the U.S. Senate in a statement Thursday, saying that the bill will worsen inflation.
The statement comes as Senate Democrats rush to make last minute changes to a massive $740 billion spending bill that they will try to pass before the August recess by using the reconciliation process because the bill lacks bipartisan support.
&#8220;The Democrats’ solution to 40-year high inflation is passing another reckless tax and spending spree to the tune of $740 billion, affecting Americans in every tax bracket,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;While denying recession, Democrats want to raise taxes on businesses and manufacturers, which will force higher costs onto consumers, worsen inflation, and aggravate shortages.&#8221;
&#8220;With sky high prices at the pump, the last thing Americans need is for Democrats to punish energy producers, which will ultimately hurt working families struggling to pay for gas, goods, food, and utilities,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;Our citizens cannot afford Joe Biden’s broken promises on taxes and Democrats’ inflationary spending that will only exacerbate the economic crisis they created.”
Governors Henry McMaster (R-SC) and Brian Kemp (R-GA) led the 22 Republican governors in issuing the joint statement.
The other Republican governors who signed onto the statement included Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Doug Ducey (R-AZ), Asa Hutchinson (R-AR), Brad Little (R-ID), Kim Reynolds (R-IA), Tate Reeves (R-MS), Mike Parson (R-MO), Greg Gianforte (R-MT), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Kristi Noem (R-SD), Bill Lee (R-TN), Greg Abbott (R-TX), Mark Gordon (R-WY), Chris Sununu (R-NH), Kevin Stitt (R-OK), Doug Burgum (R-ND), Kay Ivey (R-AL), Spencer Cox (R-UT), Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), and Eric Holcomb (R-IN).
The statement from the governors comes after the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rogan-slams-democrats-for-trying-to-claim-economy-is-not-in-a-recession-what-a-bunch-of-weasels">released</a> data last week showing that the U.S. economy shrank for the second straight quarter, satisfying the traditional requirement of a recession.
The Biden administration has downplayed the poor economic news by claiming that the economy is transitioning out of a fast-paced, post-pandemic recovery to a more stable environment. The White House’s claims come as Americans continue to be battered by inflation, which measured over 9% in June.

Well, That Didn&#8217;t Work
Democrats in Pennsylvania decided to boost a MAGA longshot in the gubernatorial race. But now that he&#8217;s won the Republican nomination, there&#8217;s growing worry by Democrats that he could actually win.
Doug Mastriano, a strong Trump supporter as a state senator who worked to overturn the 2020 presidential election, had also drawn doubts from fellow Republicans that he could win.
Jackie Kulback, chairman of the Cambria County Republican Party, told <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/07/19/mastriano-pennsylvania-governor-race-00046423">Politico</a> she wasn&#8217;t sure he could win in November, but much has changed.
“The higher the gas prices go, the more electable Mastriano is,” Kulback told the political website. &#8220;Honestly, I feel this is Mastriano’s campaign to lose.”
Mastriano will face Democrat Josh Shapiro, a veteran candidate with a lot of money. But the polls show a tight race, with two in June showing Shapiro leading by about four percentage points.
Larry Ceisler, a Pennsylvania-based public affairs consultant backing Shapiro, told Politico that Democrats are beginning to realize Mastriano could win.
“Most people are in a little bubble, where they talk to one other and say, ‘Boy, there’s no way Doug Mastriano can beat Josh Shapiro.’ Well, you know what? Those people don’t get off the turnpike,” he said. “It wakes some people as to: It’s a real campaign, and yes, there really are people who are for Doug Mastriano, and this is not going to be a walk in the park.”
A Dem In GOP Clothing
With President Joe Biden&#8217;s approval rating in the dumpster amid soaring inflation and gas prices, it&#8217;s not a great time to be a Democrat.
So one Democratic candidate in Ohio is trying to sound more like a Republican.
Tim Ryan, a candidate for U.S. Senate, is running ads on Fox News featuring conservative-sounding language — including compliments from Fox News&#8217; opinion hosts. His latest ad, airing only on Fox last week, shows him winning kudos from none other than Tucker Carlson.
&#8220;You are on the stump and you talk bread and butter issues, economy, kitchen table issues,&#8221; Bret Baier says in the ad. Other hosts use the word &#8220;moderate&#8221; to describe Ryan, with one saying he is &#8220;hanging out in the middle like most of us are.&#8221;
Ryan has also avoided appearing with Biden, as many other Democrats have. When Biden popped into the state earlier, Ryan was nowhere to be seen. “Tim has a full day of previously-scheduled campaign events along the Ohio River,” a Ryan spokesman told The <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/jul/6/top-ohio-dem-candidates-will-skip-biden-event/">Washington Times</a>.
And it&#8217;s worth remembering that former President Donald Trump won Ohio, long a swing state, by eight points in both 2016 and 2020.
Poof, He&#8217;s Gone
On Tuesday, former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) dropped his bid to represent the left-leaning 10th Congressional District, admitting that “it’s not going work out.”
“I’ve really listened carefully to people and it’s clear to me that when it comes to this congressional district, people are looking for another option. And I respect that,” the former mayor said.
De Blasio, who served as mayor of New York City from 2014 to 2021 and made a brief run for president in 2020, announced his bid for Congress in May. But he never caught on.
De Blasio had been trailing most of the Democratic field in the district, which includes parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn, in recent polls, with one showing he had just 3% of the vote.
Much To Do In Michigan
Political soothsayers are predicting a red wave in the mid-term elections, and Republicans in Michigan are hoping that can push them to a win against Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Five GOP candidates will be on the ballot for the nomination on August 2 after the early favorite, former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, was disqualified for forged signatures on his qualifying petition.
The disqualification of Craig, who vows to run a write-in campaign, threw the race into chaos and opened up the nomination to some lesser-known pols.
In recent polling, former businesswoman and political commentator Tudor Dixon appears to be the favorite. Dixon has recently been labeled the &#8220;establishment candidate&#8221; by at least two of her opponents, Garrett Soldano and Kevin Rinke, after she received an endorsement from the powerful DeVos family. Richard DeVos Jr. is a multi-billionaire, and his wife, Betsy, is the former Secretary of Education in the Trump administration.
The race has not been short of drama. Candidate Ryan Kelley was arrested by the FBI and charged with misdemeanors related to his presence at the January 6 Capitol riot. Yet Kelley has done well in the polls following his arrest and has vowed to stay in the race despite his upcoming trial.
So far, no one has won the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
Incumbents Rule In GA
Incumbents won more than 90% of the congressional races in 2020, according to <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Election_results,_2020:_Incumbent_win_rates_by_state">Ballotpedia</a>.
So it&#8217;s no surprise that both incumbent Democrats and Republicans are leading their gubernatorial and Senate races in Georgia, according to the most recent polls.
GOP gubernatorial nominee and incumbent governor Brian Kemp leads Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams by seven points, 52% &#8211; 45%, according to a recent poll conducted by Fabrizio Ward and Impact Research, which surveyed 1,197 likely state voters between July 5 &#8211; July 11.
Meanwhile, Democratic senatorial nominee and incumbent Raphael Warnock leads GOP nominee Herschel Walker by three points, 50% &#8211; 47%, according to that same poll. But Walker has won the endorsement of Trump, which may mean something when voters cast their votes on November 8.
Carin&#8217; For Karrin
Former Vice President Mike Pence has endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson for governor in Arizona.
“As Arizona Democrats pursue the reckless Biden-Harris agenda, Karrin Taylor Robson is the only candidate for Governor that will keep Arizona’s border secure and streets safe, empower parents and create great schools, and promote conservative values,” Pence said. “Karrin is the best choice for Arizona’s future, and I am proud to support her.”
Taylor Robson said she&#8217;s honored to receive the endorsement of Pence, who will appear with her at campaign events this Friday in Phoenix and southern Arizona.
“Mike Pence has been a warrior for the conservative values we hold most dear: the sanctity of Life; limited government; law and order; opportunity for all; vigorous defense of the 2nd Amendment; and the knowledge that our freedoms are granted by God,” Taylor Robson said. “Modern politics is full of charlatans and fakes, but Vice President Pence is the genuine article. He has never wavered in his conservative beliefs and commitment to our Constitution, and left a rock-solid legacy as Governor to which I will aspire.”

On Thursday, Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brian-kemp">Brian Kemp</a> (R-GA) endorsed 10th Congressional District candidate Mike Collins, founder of a Georgia trucking company, over former Democrat Georgia State Representative  Vernon Jones ahead of the Peachtree State&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/republican-party">GOP</a> primary run-off election being held on Tuesday, June 21.
Jones, who is endorsed by former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a>, <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Georgia%27s_10th_Congressional_District_election,_2022_(May_24_Republican_primary)">secured</a> 21.6% of the vote while Collins earned 25.6% in an eight-candidate field. In order to win outright and avoid a run-off election, the first-place finisher had to have received 50% or more of the vote.
&#8220;Today, I’m proud to endorse Mike Collins to be the next congressman for Georgia’s 10th Congressional District,&#8221; Kemp said in a statement. &#8220;As a conservative small businessman, Mike knows firsthand how the disastrous policies of the Biden administration are hurting hardworking Georgians and communities all across our state.&#8221;
Collins has spent the majority of his career working in the trucking industry. His father is former GOP Congressman Mac Collins of Georgia, who served from 1995 to 2003.
&#8220;Mike is strongly pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, and will fight hard to put Georgians first in Congress,&#8221; Kemp added in his statement.

Kemp <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Georgia_gubernatorial_election,_2022_(May_24_Republican_primary)">won</a> the GOP&#8217;s gubernatorial primary in late May by more than 50 points.
Kemp, who was endorsed by former Vice President Mike Pence, defeated several other candidates, including former Senator David Perdue, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Democrat Stacey Abrams ran unopposed in her primary.
In April 2020, Jones resigned from his seat as a state representative and officially left the Democratic Party.
&#8220;I’m sick and tired of me and my family being attacked and harassed by the Democrat Party for putting my country before my party,” Jones told <a href="https://www.ajc.com/news/state--regional-govt--politics/georgia-democratic-lawmaker-announces-resignation-week-after-endorsing-trump/vOcyL9hiN7DnfI1G3K3A1J/">The Atlanta Journal-Constitution</a> at the time. “I take pride in being an independent thinker. I intend to help the Democrat Party get rid of its bigotry against Black people that are independent and conservative.”
Jones had originally sought the Georgia GOP nomination for governor before deciding to run for congress.
In February, Trump endorsed Jones.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Endorses Mike Collins Over Vernon Jones For Congress Ahead Of Run-Off Election

Georgia GOP candidates Brian Kemp, running for governor, and Herschel Walker, running for the U.S. Senate, have each won their GOP primary races while Democratic candidates Stacey Abrams and Raphael Warnock locked up their party&#8217;s gubernatorial and senate nominations, respectively, on Tuesday night during the Peach State&#8217;s primary, Decision Desk HQ has <a href="https://results.decisiondeskhq.com/may24-2022-elections/">announced</a>.
The incumbent governor Kemp, who was endorsed by former Vice President Mike Pence, defeated several other candidates, including former Senator David Perdue (R-GA) who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Abrams ran unopposed. On Monday, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-pence-to-participate-in-competing-georgia-gop-primary-campaign-events">reported</a> that Pence appeared at a campaign rally for Kemp on Monday night. Trump also joined a tele-rally for Perdue on Monday, despite reports that he had backed away from his endorsement.
“The Kemp campaign, together with Fake News NBC, has put out a phony narrative that I have given up on David Perdue in Georgia,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10837847/Donald-Trump-denies-STOPPED-supporting-David-Perdue-race-Georgia-governor.html">said</a> on his social media site, Truth Social, regarding that report.
“That is completely false!” he added. “I am with David all the way because Brian Kemp was the worst governor in the country on election integrity!”
Pence, meanwhile, said that Kemp was his &#8220;friend, a man dedicated to faith, family and the people of Georgia.&#8221;
&#8220;I am proud to offer my full support for four more years of Brian Kemp as governor of the great state of Georgia,&#8221; he added.
As pointed out by Business Insider&#8217;s Grace Panetta, Perdue is now the third Trump-endorsed gubernatorial candidate “to lose in as many weeks.”

With 23% of the vote in, Kemp has 126,502 votes, Perdue has 35,722, Kandiss Taylor has 5,735 votes, Catherine Davis has 1,434 votes, and Tom Williams has 471 votes.
Walker, a Heisman Trophy winner and University of Georgia football legend, was endorsed by both Trump, as well as Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). Walker won with  nearly 70% of the vote, according to Decision Desk HQ. He defeated six other candidates. He will now face Democratic candidate and incumbent senator Warnock.

Former President Donald J. Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence are scheduled to participate at competing campaign events on Monday evening, the eve of Georgia&#8217;s GOP gubernatorial primary.
Trump has endorsed former Senator David Perdue over incumbent Governor Brian Kemp. Pence has thrown his support behind Kemp and is scheduled to appear at a campaign rally on Monday night. Trump will also be appearing in a virtual tele-rally for Perdue just days after the president disputed a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2022-election/trump-washes-hands-perdue-georgia-campaign-limps-final-stretch-rcna29714">report by NBC</a> that he had stopped lending his support to the former senator.

Kemp, who Trump has repeatedly criticized for his handling of the 2020 election, appears to be in the lead against Perdue by a heavy margin. A recent Fox News poll &#8220;found that 60% of Republican voters in the state prefer Kemp, while only 28% support Perdue &#8211; compared with 50% versus 39% in March,&#8221; The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10837847/Donald-Trump-denies-STOPPED-supporting-David-Perdue-race-Georgia-governor.html">noted</a> on Friday.
Pence, meanwhile, endorsed Kemp late into the race.
&#8220;Brian Kemp is my friend, a man dedicated to faith, family and the people of Georgia,” Pence said. “I am proud to offer my full support for four more years of Brian Kemp as governor of the great state of Georgia.”
The Trump camp, for its part, has slammed Pence&#8217;s endorsement. Taylor Budowich, a spokesperson for Trump, recently <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/23/us/politics/pence-trump-republicans-2024.html">told</a> The New York Times that Pence&#8217;s involvement in the Georgia race was a part of his attempt to stay relevant.
&#8220;Mike Pence was set to lose a governor’s race in 2016 before he was plucked up and his political career was salvaged,” Budowich said. “Now, desperate to chase his lost relevance, Pence is parachuting into races, hoping someone is paying attention. The reality is, President Trump is already 82-3 with his endorsements, and there’s nothing stopping him from saving America in 2022 and beyond.”
Pence has not denied that he is considering running in 2024, even if it means running against Trump. Trump has not officially declared his candidacy but has repeatedly told his supporters that he believes they will be &#8220;very happy&#8221; with his announcement regarding the election.
“We’ll go where we’re called,” Pence had previously said regarding his future plans. “That’s the way Karen and I have always approached these things,&#8221; he added in reference to his wife.
Kemp and Perdue also face candidates Catherine Davis, Kandiss Taylor, and Tom Williams in the primary.

The Georgia government announced Friday that Korean automaker Hyundai will pour $5.5 billion into the state for a new electric vehicle factory, marking the largest economic development project in Georgia history.
According to a <a href="https://gov.georgia.gov/press-releases/2022-05-20/gov-kemp-hyundai-motor-group-invest-554-billion-georgia-first-fully">press release</a> from the office of Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA), Hyundai and its affiliates are poised to create roughly 8,100 jobs in Georgia’s coastal region. The governor was joined by various Hyundai executives, including Hyundai CEO Jay Chang, for a ceremony on Friday afternoon.
“We are proud to welcome Hyundai Motor Group to Georgia as we forge an innovative future together,&#8221; Kemp said. &#8220;My commitment to hardworking Georgians to make our state the best place to live, work, and raise our families remains steadfast, and with this announcement, which is now the largest economic development project in our state&#8217;s history, we will continue working to make Georgia the premier destination for quality companies who are creating the jobs of today, tomorrow, and beyond.”
“We decided to build our first dedicated EV plant in the U.S. because America embraces change and drives innovation,” Chang added. “This new EV plant is the future of our business, and it will help us meet the growing demands of our U.S. customers who want leading edge design, safe, zero-emissions vehicles now and in the future.”
Hyundai will begin construction in 2023, and the facility will be able to produce 300,000 units per year by 2025.
The American regulatory environment is presently <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/02/biden-starts-3-billion-plan-to-boost-battery-production-for-evs.html">favorable to electric vehicle investments</a> largely due to the Biden administration’s policy priorities. Earlier this month, the White House unveiled a $3.1 billion plan to <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/02/biden-starts-3-billion-plan-to-boost-battery-production-for-evs.html">expedite electric vehicle production</a> — which will “help reduce emissions and create opportunities across the country,” according to White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy.
The investment also occurs as the automotive industry experiences constraints from a worldwide computer chip shortage. Many Asian economies introduced harsh lockdown measures at the onset of COVID-19, thereby creating bottlenecks in the global semiconductor supply chain. Some automotive companies have been forced to limit or pause production due to the phenomenon — worsening inflationary pressures as <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/used-car-prices-inflation-29k-average-edmunds/">vehicle prices surge</a> at their highest rate in decades.
In response, companies are racing to erect new semiconductor processing facilities, even as local officials encourage production in their states. Beyond Hyundai’s investment in Georgia, Samsung is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/samsung-to-build-17-billion-chip-factory-in-texas-marking-largest-ever-foreign-investment-into-the-state">building</a> a $17 billion semiconductor factory in Taylor, Texas — marking the largest foreign direct investment in the state’s history.
“Companies like Samsung continue to invest in Texas because of our world-class business climate and exceptional workforce,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) said last November. “Samsung’s new semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taylor will bring countless opportunities for hardworking Central Texans and their families and will play a major role in our state’s continued exceptionalism in the semiconductor industry.”
Meanwhile, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-ill-invest-in-microchip-semiconductor-manufacturing-so-chinese-cannot-hold-our-supply-chain-hostage">announced</a> in January that he would invest the state’s funds to increase microchip and semiconductor manufacturing so that the Chinese Communist Party cannot “hold our supply chain hostage.&#8221;
“We have to start standing up as Floridians and Americans,” DeSantis said at a press conference. “We cannot be captive. Key sectors of our economy should not be captive to some of these foreign nations, particularly outfits like the Communist Party of China.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence has taken the opposite side from former President Trump in the hotly-contested Georgia GOP gubernatorial race, choosing to support current Georgia GOP Governor Brian Kemp for the May 24 primary.
Pence is scheduled to hold a rally for Kemp on May 23, <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/05/13/mike-pence-to-campaign-for-georgia-gov-brian-kemp/">The New York Post</a> noted. Trump has backed former GOP Senator David Perdue in the race.
“Brian Kemp is one of the most successful conservative governors in America. He built a safer and stronger Georgia by cutting taxes, empowering parents and investing in teachers, funding law enforcement, and standing strong for the right to life,” Pence stated.
He added, “Brian Kemp is my friend, a man dedicated to faith, family and the people of Georgia. I am proud to offer my full support for four more years of Brian Kemp as governor of the great state of Georgia.”
Kemp responded, &#8220;The Vice President&#8217;s leadership was instrumental in creating the most prosperous economy in American history, including here in Georgia, and his commitment to building a safer, stronger America represents the highest ideals of our party.”

On Wednesday, after three prominent Republican governors endorsed Kemp, Trump — who has furiously accused Kemp of not supporting his claim that the 2020 election was stolen and even suggested that hard-Left Democrat Stacey Abrams would make a better governor— again <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/trump-derides-rino-governors-backing-183101798.html">attacked</a> him.
He snapped, “Today, the worst ‘election integrity’ Governor in the country, Brian Kemp, loaded the great state of Georgia up with RINOs. That’s right, he had them all. Chris Christie, Doug Ducey from Arizona, and Pete Ricketts from Nebraska. That tells you all you need to know about what you are getting in Georgia — just a continuation of bad elections and a real RINO if you vote for Brian Kemp.”
Following the 2020 election, Kemp did call for a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-georgia-governor-brian-kemp-calls-for-signature-audit-of-election-results/">signature audit</a> of the state’s election results. He <a href="https://www.ajc.com/politics/politics-blog/why-kemp-wont-call-an-illegal-special-session-to-overturn-georgias-election/6L6KT2NZEZCU7MYXADEBLIO6S4/">rejected</a> a petition from four Republican state senators wanting an emergency special session because of “systemic failures” in the election system, writing, “This is not an option under state or federal law. The statute is clear. The legislature can only direct an alternative method for choosing presidential electors if the election was not able to be held on the date set by federal law.”
Last September, Trump claimed “Kemp is a disaster. &#8230; He did everything he could to make sure we lost the election. I mean, he was terrible.”
Last month, reports <a href="https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/trumps-pac-gives-donation-ads-attacking-georgia-gov-brian-kemp">revealed</a> Trump’s Save America PAC had given $500,000 to a group running attack ads against Kemp.
After the 2018 election in which Kemp triumphed over Abrams, Trump <a href="https://apnews.com/article/north-america-lawsuits-us-news-ap-top-news-elections-7985be43fa4c4422bfece25cb0204307">tweeted,</a> “Congratulations to Brian Kemp on becoming the new Governor of Georgia. Stacey Abrams fought brilliantly and hard &#8212; she will have a terrific political future! Brian was unrelenting and will become a great Governor for the truly Wonderful People of Georgia!”
Kemp has also been endorsed by the Republican Governors Association and the National Rifle Association. Recent polls show him garnering over 50% of the vote, meaning there would be no run-off election.

Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed a law on Tuesday to make Georgia a constitutional carry state, allowing residents to carry handguns without a license or needing to get background check to get a permit.
SB 319 was signed just over a month after the Republican-led state Senate passed the legislation, making Georgia the 25th constitutional carry state in the nation.
“SB 319 makes sure that law-abiding Georgians, including our daughters, and your family too, can protect themselves without having to have permission from your state government,” Kemp <a href="https://apnews.com/article/congress-david-perdue-douglasville-georgia-state-governments-dcf1f1a2a936dcea8ff42d646527b2cb" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> outside Gable Sporting Goods in Douglasville, where he said he had previously purchased a handgun for one of his daughters. “The Constitution of the United States gives us that right, not the government.”
The state&#8217;s GOP lawmakers had argued that the existing carry permit infringed on the Second Amendment rights of its citizens.
Kemp also addressed the concerns some in his state have with changing the previous law.
&#8220;There is no doubt that we are in challenging times,&#8221; Kemp told reporters, according to <a href="https://www.ajc.com/politics/gov-kemp-to-sign-bill-allowing-concealed-carry-of-handguns-without-a-license/KO7EQUS3IVGWNDISVAKBGOMZOA/?oRef=thehill" target="_blank" rel="noindex noopener noskim">The Atlanta Journal-Constitution</a>.
&#8220;People don&#8217;t have to carry if they don&#8217;t want to,&#8221; he added. &#8220;But this is a constitutional authority that people have, and they certainly shouldn&#8217;t have a piece of paper from the government to be able to legally carry a weapon.&#8221;
A second bill, HB 218, signed on Tuesday by the governor, also allows concealed carry permit holders from other states to legally carry in Georgia.
&#8220;HB 218 ensures that individuals who are licensed to carry in another state are also authorized to do so here in Georgia,&#8221; he said, <a href="https://www.newsmax.com/us/constitutional-carry-gun-rights-georgia-brian-kemp/2022/04/12/id/1065499/?oRef=thehill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to</a> Newsmax.
The signing comes as Kemp faces a strong primary challenge against former Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue. Perdue has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Georgia&#8217;s primary is set for May 24.
The new constitutional carry law was also signed just after President Joe Biden renewed his push to ban semi-automatic long guns in a Monday speech that focused on what his administration is doing to crack down on Second Amendment rights. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-renews-push-for-gun-magazine-ban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>:
<blockquote>“We need Congress to pass universal background checks, universal background checks, and I know it’s controversial but I got it done once, ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines,” Biden shouted.
Biden then suggested that people do not need what he claims are high-capacity magazines because deer do not wear “Kevlar vests.”
The event was primarily focused on the administration issuing a final rule to curb the proliferation of so-called “ghost guns” which are privately made firearms that do not have a serial number and thus do not require a background check to obtain key components needed to build the firearm.</blockquote>
The other <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/04/12/gov-kemp-signs-bill-making-georgia-25th-constitutional-carry-state/?oRef=thehill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">24 states</a> that have a constitutional carry law are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Half Of States Now Have Constitutional Carry Laws As Gov. Kemp Signs New Law In Georgia

On Friday, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R) and state Attorney General Chris Carr announced their intention to file a complaint against the Biden administration over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors.
According to a <a href="https://madmimi.com/p/72de031?pact=157852-165289856-13401774837-2441590c80ab95efc23e5b1bac90adbed87e02f5">press release</a> from Kemp’s office, the complaint, which will be filed with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia (Augusta Division), “explains how the Biden Administration’s unprecedented, unlawful, and unconstitutional COVID-19 vaccination mandate for federal contractors has placed Georgia’s state agencies and elected officials, including Governor Kemp, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and the University System of Georgia, in an untenable situation.”
“Polling shows 70 percent of unvaccinated Americans say they would quit their jobs if their company required the COVID-19 vaccine. From an employer&#8217;s perspective, 9 in 10 fear significant reductions in their workforce if they had to implement vaccine mandates. We will not allow the Biden Administration to circumvent the law or force hardworking Georgians to choose between their livelihood or this vaccine,” Kemp stated in the press release.
In a tweet announcing the complaint, Kemp wrote in part: “We won’t allow the federal gov’t to circumvent the law or force hardworking Georgians to choose between their livelihood or a vaccine.”

Carr echoed Kemp’s sentiment, noting that the mandate “places immense burden on our state.”
Kemp and Carr are joined by several other states, including “Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, Utah, and West Virginia,” according to the release.
On September 9, the White House issued <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/09/09/executive-order-on-requiring-coronavirus-disease-2019-vaccination-for-federal-employees/">executive</a> <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/09/09/executive-order-on-ensuring-adequate-covid-safety-protocols-for-federal-contractors/">orders</a> regarding vaccination requirements for all federal workers, as well as for federal contractors. The Safer Federal Workforce Task Force later <a href="https://www.saferfederalworkforce.gov/downloads/Draft%20contractor%20guidance%20doc_20210922.pdf">detailed</a>: “Covered contractors must ensure that all covered contractor employees are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, unless the employee is legally entitled to an accommodation. Covered contractor employees must be fully vaccinated no later than December 8, 2021.”
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tech-company-on-biden-vaccine-mandate-we-resisted-vaccine-requirements-but-must-now-comply">reported</a>, tech company Lumen sent out an email to employees on Tuesday stating that despite having “resisted vaccine requirements,” the company “must now comply with presidential orders to require vaccines within Lumen.”
The email added that even “work-from-home employees” who work “directly [or] indirectly with covered federal contracts” are subject to the mandate and that it is “a condition of employment.”
<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/here-are-companies-mandating-vaccines-all-or-some-employees-n1275808">Numerous companies</a> are either complying with the federal mandate or issuing mandates of their own, including General Electric, United Airlines, Tyson Foods, Walmart, and Microsoft.
Kemp’s announcement comes on the heels of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declaring on Thursday that the state will file a lawsuit over the federal contractor vaccine requirement.
“Just months ago Joe Biden was saying that it wouldn’t be appropriate or lawful for the federal government to mandate these COVID shots. … But now we have somehow gone from 15 days to slow the spread to 3 jabs to keep your job. The federal government is exceeding their power and it is important for us to take a stand because in Florida we believe these are choices based on individual circumstances,” DeSantis said, according to a <a href="https://www.flgov.com/2021/10/28/governor-ron-desantis-announces-lawsuit-against-biden-administrations-unconstitutional-vaccine-mandates/">press release</a>.
