He first alluded to a POLITICO <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/24/slotkin-has-a-war-plan-to-beat-trump-dont-be-weak-and-woke-00308176" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on how Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) urged Democrats to stop harping on the “oligarchy” because the term does not resonate beyond coastal institutions.
Then Baier referred to a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/friends-of-bernie-sanders-spent-200k-on-jets-for-his-fighting-oligarchy-tour" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent</a> Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/politics/bernie-spent-221k-on-private-jets-while-railing-against-trump-during-fighting-oligarchy-tour/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">story</a> on Sanders&#8217; main campaign committee, Friends of Bernie Sanders, spending $221,723 chartering private jets during the first quarter of 2025 after and the senator spending millions of dollars on such flights over the years.
&#8220;You know, Elissa Slotkin, senator from Michigan, she said you shouldn&#8217;t be using &#8216;oligarch,&#8217; it&#8217;s over people&#8217;s head. You&#8217;ve gotten criticized from other people,&#8221; Baier said. &#8220;Free Beacon says Bernie Sanders spent $221,000 on private jets [amid the] &#8216;Fighting Oligarchy&#8221; Tour, paid for by Friends of Bernie Sanders. That you&#8217;ve spent millions of dollars in campaign funds on private jet travel over the years. How do you push back on both of those things?&#8221;
Sanders&#8217; initial inclination was to take a swipe at President Donald Trump.
&#8220;When&#8217;s the last time you saw Donald Trump during a campaign mode at National Airport?&#8221; Sanders asked.
&#8220;No, no, no. It doesn&#8217;t. But he&#8217;s also not fighting the oligarchy,&#8221; Baier replied.
&#8220;No. You run a campaign and you do three or four or five rallies in a week. The only way you can get around to talk to 30,000 people,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;Think I&#8217;m going to be sitting on a waiting line at United, waiting, you know, while 30,000 people are waiting? That&#8217;s the only way you can get around. No apologies for that.&#8221;
He added: &#8220;That&#8217;s what campaign travel is about. We&#8217;ve done it in the past, we&#8217;re going to do it in the future.&#8221;
With the reporting on the price tag for the “Fighting Oligarchy&#8221; tour flights, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) criticized Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez for their jet-setting ways with a not-so-subtle nod to their climate activism.

Elon Musk said during an interview this week that his stated goal of assisting the Trump administration in eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government would be nearly completed by June.
Musk made the remarks during a wide-ranging discussion with Fox News anchor Bret Baier in which he and other top officials from the Department of Government Efficiency&#8217;s (DOGE) initiative offered a behind-the-scenes look at their efforts to prevent the United States from going bankrupt.
Musk said their goal was to reduce the federal deficit by half, meaning cutting it by a trillion dollars.
&#8220;We want to reduce the spending by eliminating waste and fraud, reduce the spending by 15%, which seems really quite achievable,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The government is not efficient, and there&#8217;s a lot of waste and fraud. So we feel confident that 15% reduction can be done without affecting any of the critical government services.&#8221;
Baier noted that Musk was technically a &#8220;special government employee&#8221; and was supposed to be in the government for only 130 days.
&#8220;Are you going to continue past that?&#8221; Baier asked. &#8220;Or do you think that&#8217;s what you&#8217;re going to do?&#8221;
Musk responded: &#8220;I think we will have accomplished most of the work required to reduce the deficit by a trillion dollars within that time frame.&#8221;
&#8220;So in that time frame, 130 days?&#8221; Baier asked.
&#8220;Yes,&#8221; Musk responded.

President Donald Trump sat down with Fox News anchor Bret Baier for an interview that was scheduled to air just ahead of Sunday afternoon&#8217;s Super Bowl coverage — but Baier released a teaser clip via X that showed him challenging Trump on his working relationship with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
Baier&#8217;s question comes as Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has come under fire — mostly from Democrats and media — over sweeping cuts to things like the Unites States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Trump noted that the people had elected him to, among other things, find and eliminate the waste and fraud in the federal government — and touted Musk&#8217;s help thus far in making that a reality.
&#8220;I don’t know if it’s kickbacks or what’s going on, but … look, I ran on this and the people want me to find it. And I’ve had a great help with Elon Musk, who’s been terrific,&#8221; Trump said.
&#8220;Bottom line, you say you trust him?&#8221; Baier interrupted.
&#8220;Trust Elon? He’s not gaining anything. In fact, I wonder how he can devote the time to it. He’s so into it,&#8221; Trump replied. &#8220;But I told him, do that — and I’m going to tell him very soon, like maybe in 24 hours, to go check the Department of Education. He’s going to find the same thing.&#8221;

Within hours of Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a>&#8216; appearance on Fox News, it became clear that the legacy media outlets had all received their pre-written talking points and their marching orders.
The interview, which was shortened to just over 20 minutes after the vice president arrived late — grew combative at times as Bret Baier pressed the Democratic presidential nominee for real answers. Harris responded to each question — regardless of topic — by filibustering until she found a point from which she could pivot and attack her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump.
Democrats and multiple media personalities took to X to do damage control because, as Mark Hemingway <a href="https://x.com/Heminator/status/1846929648812232735" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a>, &#8220;If Kamala had done well, they’d be posting her highlights from the interview, not attacking Baier, who was perfectly professional.&#8221;

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; worked overtime on Thursday to recast Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a>&#8216; latest interview — with Fox News anchor Bret Baier — as a win for Democrats.
Their strategy — which mirrored the strategy adopted by a number of pro-Harris accounts on X — was to attack Baier, suggesting that he was unfair and rude to the Democratic presidential nominee and arguing that he only pushed back on her because she&#8217;s a woman.
Sunny Hostin was first to lodge her complaint, saying, &#8220;He is known for doing the bidding of Fox News, but he ends his show every night as &#8216;fair, balanced and unafraid.&#8217; Well, that was not fair and balanced.&#8221;

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin conceded that Baier was asking questions that a number of Americans would like to see answered — and by Harris in particular — but her cohost quickly stepped on her point and went right back to complaining about Baier.
Sara Haines claimed that Harris — who responded to each question by rambling until she found a good point on which to pivot and attack former President Donald Trump — had &#8220;held her own&#8221; and argued that Baier&#8217;s attempts to keep Harris on track amounted to sexism.

Fox News anchor Bret Baeir opened up about his interview with Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> and said he really thought all she wanted out of it was a “viral moment.”
Speaking Thursday morning on the <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6363377459112">network</a>, Baier talked about his sit-down with Harris where he pressed her on issues like the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/immigration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">immigration</a> crisis, her handling of President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, and her economic proposals.
“I left there right after the interview and I thought, ‘Wow, this was really a lot more contentious than I thought it was going to be,'&#8221; Baier told the hosts. “There was a lot of filibustering. I didn’t really want to keep on interrupting, but if I didn’t, I thought there would maybe be four answers total in the interview.”

Following the interview, Baier <a href="https://x.com/TrumpWarRoom/status/1846687491270545579">revealed</a> that if the interview seemed rushed, it was after he said Harris arrived 15 minutes late. He said the interview they were told would last 25-30 minutes was whittled down 20 by her team. “They were watching the clock,” Baier said on Thursday. “And so we had to speed things up at the end.&#8221;
As to how far the needle will move for Harris, former pollster for former President Bill Clinton, Doug Schoen, criticized the VP’s unclear answers and said it will not help her with what he called the eroding “blue wall” in some key battleground states.
“The so-called blue wall of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania is eroding for the Democrats,” <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/16/doug-schoen-eroding-blue-wall-harris-fox-bret-baier/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Schoen told Fox News host Laura Ingraham</a>. “There is a level of disorganization on the ground and incoherence vis-à-vis the messaging &#8212; that is clear.”
“The Harris campaign really doesn’t have a closing message or strategy, as we, I think, saw in Bret Baier’s interview with Kamala Harris today,” he added. “I don’t think it helped at all. Senator JD Vance (R-OH) dismantled Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; Wednesday evening interview with Fox News&#8217; Bret Baier during a brief appearance on &#8220;Fox &amp; Friends&#8221; Thursday morning.
Vance listed several of the points that the American people had expressed a desire to hear her address and then went on to describe her responses — many of which were rambling non-answers that aimed only for pivot points from which she could turn and attack former President Donald Trump.

Baier noted during his Wednesday broadcast of &#8220;Special Report&#8221; — during which the interview aired — that Harris&#8217; team had cut the interview short by arriving late. She then proceeded to filibuster every question to the point that even the best of analysts would be able to glean very little new information.

Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> again called for Vice President Kamala Harris to have a cognitive test after her combative interview with Fox News host Bret Baier on Wednesday. 
In reaction to the interview, Trump criticized Harris for pivoting to attack him when asked about her policy positions. Baier’s interview with Harris lasted nearly 30 minutes as he pressed her on issues from the border crisis to what she would do differently from President Joe Biden. 
Trump praised Baier and criticized Harris’s record on illegal immigration on Truth Social after the pre-taped interview aired. 
“Great job by Bret Baier in his Interview with Lyin’ Kamala Harris. She has a massive and irredeemable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME &#8211; So bad, in fact, that she is barely able to talk about any subject other than the man who had the best economy ever, the strongest border in history, and who just got the UNANIMOUS ENDORSEMENT OF THE U.S. Border Patrol, ME! Their Endorsement was a TREMENDOUS HONOR!!! Baier informed Harris that new polling has found that 79% of Americans say that the country is headed in the wrong direction under the Biden-Harris administration.
&#8220;If it&#8217;s on the wrong track, that track follows three and a half years of you being vice president and President Biden being president. That is what they&#8217;re saying &#8212; 79% of them,&#8221; Baier said.
&#8220;Why are they saying that if you&#8217;re turning the page?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;You&#8217;ve been in office for three and a half years.&#8221;
&#8220;And Donald Trump has been running for office since&#8211;&#8221; Harris awkwardly said.

Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> signaled during an interview on Wednesday evening that she will take taxpayer money to fund transgender surgeries for criminals locked up in prison.
Harris made the extreme remarks during a contentious interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier in which she struggled to answer nearly every question that was asked.
Baier noted that an ad from the Trump campaign has really landed with voters that features Harris stating on video that she supports &#8220;surgery for prisoners.&#8221;
&#8220;Every transgender inmate in the prison system would have access,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;So are you still in support of using taxpayer dollars to help prison inmates or detained illegal aliens to transition to another gender?&#8221; Baier asked.
&#8220;I will follow the law,&#8221; Harris responded, &#8220;and it&#8217;s a law that Donald Trump actually followed. You&#8217;re probably familiar with now &#8212; it&#8217;s a public report that under Donald Trump&#8217;s administration, these surgeries were available to, on a medical necessity basis, to people in the federal prison system.&#8221;
&#8220;And I think, frankly, that ad from the Trump campaign is a little bit of like throwing, you know, stones when you live in a glass house,&#8221; she claimed.
However, Baier noted that Trump never promoted the surgeries and no surgeries ever took place under this administration.
Harris lashed out: &#8220;Well, you know what, you got to take responsible [sic] for what happened in your administration.&#8221;
&#8220;He spent $20 million on those ads trying to create a sense of fear in the voters, because he actually has no plan in this election that is about focusing on the needs of the American people,&#8221; Harris claimed. &#8220;Whereas, at $20 million in that ad, on an issue that, as it relates to the biggest issues that affect the American people, it&#8217;s really quite remote.&#8221;

Anchor Bret Baier asked Harris about many of the far-Left positions that she has taken on illegal immigration in the past, including supporting &#8220;allowing immigrants in the country illegally to apply for driver&#8217;s license, to qualify for free tuition at universities, [and] to be enrolled in free health care.&#8221;
When asked if she still supported those things, Harris did not answer the question.
&#8220;Listen, that was five years ago, and I&#8217;m very clear that I will follow the law,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;I have made that statement over and over again, and as Vice President of the United States, that&#8217;s exactly what I&#8217;ve done, not to mention before.&#8221;
Baier noted that the running mate she chose, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), signed those very things into law in his state.
&#8220;So do you support that?&#8221; Baier pushed.
&#8220;We are very clear, and I am very clear, as is Tim Walz, that we must support and enforce federal law, and that is exactly what we will do,&#8221; she claimed.

When asked when she finally was able to admit to herself that the situation on the southern border was a crisis, Harris deflected and claimed that it was this way during former President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration, which is false.

&#8220;Why do you think they said that?&#8221; Baier asked.
&#8220;I think they&#8217;re frustrated. And I get it,&#8221; Harris said. &#8220;They want support. They want support, and that&#8217;s what that border security bill would have done. These guys down at the border, these men and women, they&#8217;re working hard. They&#8217;re working around the clock, I get it.&#8221;

Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> repeatedly refused to apologize to the families of young women who were murdered by illegal aliens who were released into the United States because of the Biden-Harris administration&#8217;s open border policies.
The moment came during a contentious Fox News interview with anchor Bret Baier in what was the first real interview that Harris has had to participate in during this election cycle in which she was forced to answer questions.
Baier mentioned three of the most notable names of young woman who were brutally assaulted and murdered by criminal illegal aliens in the U.S.
&#8220;Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin, Laken Riley,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They are young women who were brutally assaulted and killed by some of the men who were released at the beginning of the administration, well before a negotiated bipartisan bill.&#8221;
&#8220;Former President Clinton actually referred to Laken Riley Sunday campaigning for you in Georgia, saying if those men had been properly vetted, Laken Riley probably would not have been killed,&#8221; he said. &#8220;This is well before Donald Trump got involved in the politics. This is a specific policy decision by your administration to release these men into the country.&#8221;
&#8220;Do you owe those families an apology?&#8221; he asked.
&#8220;Let me just say, first of all, those are tragic cases,&#8221; Harris responded. &#8220;There&#8217;s no question about that. There is no question about that. And I can&#8217;t imagine the pain that the families of those victims have experienced for a loss that should not have occurred. So that is true.&#8221;
She then falsely suggested that the border bill not being passed nine months ago would have played a factor in the killings of those women, even though Baier already noted that it would not have.
&#8220;Madam Vice President, it was a policy decision in the early part of your administration,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I will let one of the mothers talk about it.&#8221;
Baier then played a clip of Jocelyn Nungaray&#8217;s mother talking about the how the Biden-Harris administration was responsible for what happened to her daughter:

Harris again refused to answer the question: &#8220;I will tell that I am so sorry for her loss. I&#8217;m so sorry for her loss. Sincerely. But let&#8217;s talk about what is happening right now with an individual who does not want to participate in solutions. Let&#8217;s talk about that as well.&#8221;
&#8220;But do you want to answer?&#8221; Baier pressed again.
Harris again refused to respond: &#8220;In all fairness, I told you I feel awful for what she and her family have experienced.&#8221;
