Many detransitioners who speak out receive death threats. I know, because my son, Simon, is a gender apostate, and people call for his death all the time.
Gender ideologues become terrified when people like Simon prove there is life after trans identification. It turns out delusions can pass; people and families can heal. I knew this, which is why I stood up and spoke out when my son was in the throes of trans identification. When his doctor, right in front of my son, asked me, &#8220;Do you want a living daughter or a dead son?”, I told him it was the most shocking display of malpractice I had ever seen.
In college, my son’s classmates called for his death, yet they were allowed to remain on campus. My son was the one they wouldn&#8217;t allow to speak. He just wanted to tell people he had stopped believing he was trans, but the dean bellowed that he would never be allowed to speak on campus. They tried to get him expelled, his classmates screamed at him in the street, and he received threatening emails.
The gender ideologues want families like ours silenced. I&#8217;ve had a mob of trans activists scream at me, in my face, saying that I was evil and did conversion therapy on my son. I was surprised to feel calm — I knew there was nothing I had ever done in my life that was more right than helping my son find the way out of this delusion.
I loved my son then — as I love my son now — enough to tell him the truth. He was born a boy, he is a man now, and he has been male every day in between. For a while, he was angry I didn&#8217;t see it his way, but now he is thankful I held to the truth.
Puberty is hard for most kids, but it seems especially traumatic for autistic kids. When Simon was young, he would cry when anything changed — even when a restaurant or a gas station closed. When his voice began changing, he bawled abjectly — his own body had betrayed him from the inside.
Likewise, trying to find acceptance among peers is a challenge for all teenagers; try it when you can&#8217;t read nonverbal social cues or interpret your own feelings. As a child, a preteen, or a teenager, my son never knew when somebody was going to bully him. In the case of boys, he was surprised every time he was punched or threatened; in the case of girls, he was surprised to be the target of vicious rumors or a group shunning. He didn&#8217;t know how to handle it, and I couldn&#8217;t teach him. I didn&#8217;t know how to teach social skills to a kid I didn&#8217;t even know was autistic.
All of this contributed to Simon’s trans identification. My son was 14 years old when he called his mother and me into the dining room and played us a song on the piano about how he thought he was a girl inside. It was clear he didn&#8217;t want to be himself at that point. He was experiencing real distress, but he had been taught an escape rather than a solution.
I wanted to get him help for his discomfort, his sadness, his worry. It&#8217;s hard to get mental health support for a kid. Once a kid says he&#8217;s trans, though, it becomes almost impossible. You enter an upside-down world, where they believe parents hate their children, and the child tells the doctor the diagnosis. If you&#8217;re a parent who wants a therapist to help your autistic teen learn about how to perceive social and internal cues, that can all be derailed when he says he&#8217;s trans. They may want to wash their hands of him and send him to the gender center (where all patients are trans as a matter of policy). They may demand you get on board the trans train — or else.
This could be a kid who can&#8217;t tell whether he&#8217;s hungry or he&#8217;s angry. He needs help to distinguish those feelings. But if he says he feels like a woman, a therapist can&#8217;t even ask him what he means by that. Activists have gotten laws passed that can take a therapist&#8217;s license away if he doesn&#8217;t agree kids are trans whenever they say so. And if you, as a parent, aren’t careful, they could even take your kid away from you.

Trans-identifying boys have cheerleaders everywhere. It&#8217;s not just the therapists, or the girls who will take your boy shopping and buy him women&#8217;s clothes. There are the school groups like GSA, which used to stand for &#8220;Gay-Straight Alliance,&#8221; but now stands for &#8220;Gender and Sexuality Alliance.&#8221; These groups preach the religion of gender. Our kids are taught about gender identities in health class as if they&#8217;re as real as chromosomes or conception. Online, kids can meet people of all ages with sometimes prurient enthusiasm for their gender identification. What&#8217;s one father against all of that?
One father can be a start. I taught my son that lots of people believing an idea doesn&#8217;t make it true, it just makes it popular. Reality is what&#8217;s still there when you stop believing in it. Right now, trans ideology is popular. But sex is real, and it&#8217;s still going to be here when the trans fad passes or your kid overcomes his delusions. If you succeed in holding the line against medicalization, he may be healthy and whole when that happens.
Parents have so many roles. Sometimes you&#8217;re a guide, walking in front of your children and showing them the way. Sometimes you teach, sometimes comfort, sometimes inspire. Sometimes a father is just a lighthouse keeper, maintaining a beacon so they can find their way back.
My son found his way back from his delusion. I don&#8217;t know all the reasons why, but I know he couldn&#8217;t have done it if I had let my light go out.

So much of the conversation around gender ideology centers on de-transitioners, and rightly so. People who were manipulated and mutilated, especially as children, deserve to be heard — not only so they can receive justice, but so others can be spared what was done to them by a medical establishment that they should have been able to trust.
And yet the harm of gender ideology is not limited to medical malpractice. Just ask Simon Amaya Price, the subject of a recent <a href="https://www.iwfeatures.com/documentary/how-this-desister-broke-free-from-the-transgender-contagion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documentary by IW Features</a>. His story shows us that the carnage that has been done is not just medical, but fundamentally human — and that our society will continue to crumble if we don’t attempt to understand what got us here in the first place.
Simon is a “desister,” which means that he identified as transgender but reverted to accepting his birth sex before doctors could drug him with cross-sex hormones or operate on him. Unlike so many others who had the misfortune of being entangled in gender ideology as children, he retains his physical health and his body parts.
Still, what’s obvious from his story is that the psychological and social elements of gender transition — which are what eventually lead transgender-identifying people to undergo medical transition — leave lasting damage.
Simon was the first boy at his school to start identifying as transgender — but not the last.

“Between the time I left after 10th grade and the time my class graduated, one sixth of the boys in my grade identified as transgender, and a similar proportion continued in the grades below me,” he told IW Features. “In that way, I bear the responsibility as patient zero in my small private high school in a suburb of Boston, and some of these kids medicalized, and there&#8217;s a degree to which I bear some guilt for that.”
It’s understandable on an individual, human level why Simon might feel guilt, especially as he was able to escape gender ideology medically unscathed while many of his peers did not. Still, he was only 14 years old when he started identifying as transgender. A child who can’t even vote or buy a beer can’t be held responsible for this level of social breakdown.
So we have to ask ourselves as a society: who is responsible?
Simon’s story offers some answers.
He recalls being called anti-gay slurs and being sexually assaulted by an older boy in his early to mid-teens, which rendered him lonely. Unfortunately, he was not alone in this: a <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2792857" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2022 study</a> found that transgender-identifying children were two times as likely to have experienced sexual violence as their peers.
This pushed him to join his school’s Gay-Straight Alliance, as he had no friends but wanted and needed community to get him through his trauma. But instead of talking about homophobia and bullying, the Gay-Straight Alliance watched videos by a transgender-identifying YouTuber named ContraPoints, a man who identifies as a woman.
“This is where I learned about the concept of gender dysphoria and transition,” Simon recalled. His health class reinforced this, asking students to place themselves on the “gender unicorn.” And after these ideas were placed into his head, he began searches that led him down the rabbit hole of transgender identity. His therapist at Boston Children’s Hospital immediately affirmed him and referred him to the gender clinic.
This was a pattern among the adults he encountered.
“All of the medical professionals I saw, except when I moved to a new therapist, were explicitly affirming when I brought the subject up with them. Whenever I brought it up with a teacher or a professor, they were also affirming and caved [to] my requests,” he said.
In other words, the adults who should have known better enabled this madness. It was adults who were in positions of authority — in education, in medicine — who could have said “no,” but didn’t, either because they were true believers or because, more likely, they did not want to rock the boat.
But rocking the boat is the only way out of the grasp that gender ideology has on society today. In fact, much of the reason Simon desisted in the first place was because he was forced to start confronting questions about his “gender identity” head-on.
In addition to his father’s pushback, one event in particular helped Simon realize that progressives did not have his best interest in mind: he publicly opposed affirmative action in his freshman year of college, got canceled, and, in the wake of being labeled a “Nazi,” lost any social credit he got from identifying as transgender. This, he said, made him recognize the greater fallacy of gender ideology.
Simon&#8217;s story is a testament to what actual bravery looks like: a willingness to stick to one’s convictions — and, in the case of gender ideology, to reality itself. Every American who is willing, in the immortal words of Nancy Reagan, to “just say no” to an ideology that is so obviously false on its face can create a positive ripple effect, just like Simon did, and help restore sanity to this country.

The Justice Department subpoenaed Boston Children’s Hospital for alleged healthcare fraud related to sex-change surgeries for minors, <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/exclusive-boston-childrens-hospital-subpoenaed-by-doj-over-gender-transition-procedures-for-minors/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Review</a> reported Monday.
The department <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/department-justice-subpoenas-doctors-and-clinics-involved-performing-transgender-medical?utm_source=semafor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> earlier this month that it was investigating hospitals “involved in performing transgender medical procedures on children” for “healthcare fraud, false statements, and more.”
“Medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology will be held accountable by this Department of Justice,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in the memo.
In <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/protecting-children-from-chemical-and-surgical-mutilation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January, Trump</a> signed an executive order banning federal funding for sex-change surgeries for minors. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed a rule change this month to implement the order. In May, CMS sent a letter to hospitals requesting “financial data for all pediatric sex trait modifications” that are “paid, in whole or in part, by the federal government.”
Some hospitals have <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/kaiser-permanente-to-pause-transgender-surgeries-for-teenagers-nationwide/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paused</a> programs or even <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/l-a-childrens-closes-trans-youth-center-under-pressure-from-trump-admin-joins-growing-list-of-closures/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> their clinics offering gender transition interventions to minors following Trump’s executive orders.
However, according to whistleblowers — including adults who regret their sex-transition surgeries and surgeon Eithan Haim — others are finding ways of getting around the ban.
Whistleblower testimony claims that hospitals use deceptive billing codes to hide sex change surgeries for children while making insurance claims under federal programs like Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
The hospital didn’t address the specific allegations.
“Boston Children’s Hospital is committed to providing safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care to every patient and family we serve,” a Boston Children’s Hospital spokesman told National Review.
The hospital has a history of politically motivated healthcare.
While the hospital has <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/boston-childrens-hospital-warns-employees-far-right-online-harassment-rcna43376" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied</a> performing sex-change surgeries on minors, an <a href="https://www.mdpi.com/2077-0383/11/7/1943" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine by faculty members claims that its Center for Gender Surgery is “the first pediatric center in the United States to offer gender-affirming chest surgeries for individuals over 15 years old and genital surgeries for those over 17 years of age.”
Last year, Boston Children’s faced backlash after halving its assessment time for children requesting life-altering transgender medical interventions. Laura Edwards-Leeper, who was the founding psychologist for the hospital’s gender clinic, the first of its kind in the United States, called the decision “<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14035429/boston-children-hospital-doctor-fury-transgender-surgery.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">crazy</a>.”
Boston Children’s is one of three hospitals currently being <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fbi-launches-probes-against-3-childrens-hospitals-genital-mutilation-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigated</a> by the FBI for potential violation of a federal statute that condemns female genital mutilation.
The Justice Department has issued subpoenas to 20 medical establishments in total. While it did not reveal the names of the establishments in its memo, the <a href="https://coloradosun.com/2025/07/18/childrens-hospital-colorado-subpoena-gender-affirming-care/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Children’s Hospital Colorado</a> has stated that it is also under investigation.

As Joe Biden&#8217;s run for re-election was on the verge of collapsing this summer, an unnamed White House official briefly went off-script amid all the chaos that was unfolding in the West Wing. Speaking to a variety of news outlets, including the New York Times, the White House official announced that so-called &#8220;gender affirming surgeries&#8221; should never be conducted on children: &#8220;These surgeries should be limited to adults,&#8221; the spokesman <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/17/biden-administration-transgender-surgeries-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
At any other period in this country&#8217;s history, that answer would&#8217;ve been ridiculed for one simple reason: It doesn&#8217;t go nearly far enough. Doing that to someone’s body is wrong, whether the victim is an adult or not. But this summer, the White House found itself besieged by trans activists who believe that doctors should be able to mutilate childrens&#8217; bodies, without any interference from the government. There was &#8220;anxiety and concern through the trans community&#8221; over the anonymous White House official&#8217;s statement, <a href="https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/17/biden-administration-transgender-surgeries-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Guardian.
This created a massive headache for the White House at a pretty inconvenient time. Biden was refusing to take the hint and step aside, and he was threatening to take the entire party down with him. Meanwhile, trans activists were doing their whole nails-on-a-chalkboard routine. So the White House quickly put out a new statement to shut these people up. This one was signed by Biden&#8217;s domestic policy adviser, Neera Tanden. And this time around, as the Guardian reported, the White House &#8220;reaffirmed support&#8221; for &#8220;gender-affirming&#8221; surgeries on minors. At the same time, the White House claimed that these surgeries aren&#8217;t actually happening to any significant degree: “Gender-affirming surgeries are typically reserved for adults, and we believe they should be,&#8221; Tanden said.
This is a tactic we&#8217;re all very familiar with by now. The same approach was used to promote abortion, to great effect. In both cases, the Left understands that the policy they&#8217;re supporting is horrific. They also understand that sane people would throw them out of office if there was any honesty about what was actually happening. Therefore, instead of being honest, they lie about what they&#8217;re supporting — and what they&#8217;re funding. And eventually, inertia takes over. Clinton famously said abortion would be &#8220;rare.&#8221; For the Biden administration and trans activists, the claim has been that trans surgeries on children aren&#8217;t happening — and if they are happening, it&#8217;s only in the most extreme, rare cases.
Here, for example, is a &#8220;fact-check&#8221; by a CBS affiliate in Missouri, called KMOV St. Louis. This aired in May of 2023, several months before Missouri passed a law banning child butchery in hospitals. Watch as the news station declares, flatly, that no children are undergoing trans surgeries in the state:

This is the kind of &#8220;reporting&#8221; we&#8217;ve all heard seemingly millions of times. You&#8217;re a bigot if you claim that kids are being surgically mutilated. You&#8217;re spreading &#8220;misinformation.&#8221;
Again and again, they&#8217;ll tell you it&#8217;s either not happening, or is only happening in the most rare cases. Harvard&#8217;s school of public health posted a study this summer, with <a href="https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/gender-affirming-surgeries-rarely-performed-on-transgender-youth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this headline</a>: &#8220;Gender-affirming surgeries rarely performed on transgender youth.&#8221;
The activist group called the Human Rights Campaign put out a <a href="https://www.hrc.org/press-releases/icymi-ap-debunks-extremist-claims-about-gender-affirming-care" target="_blank" rel="noopener">similar lie</a>: &#8220;Surgery under the age of 18 is very rare and is decided on a case by case basis. &#8230; Gender affirming surgeries are NOT performed on children.&#8221;

Over the past few years, there&#8217;s been some reporting showing that specific hospitals are, in fact, performing surgeries on minors in the name of &#8220;gender-affirming care.&#8221; Boston Children&#8217;s Hospital, for example, <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9000168/pdf/jcm-11-01943.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">performed</a> at least 65 double mastectomies on children for that purpose, between 2017 and 2020. That&#8217;s documented in medical <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9000168/pdf/jcm-11-01943.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">literature</a>. And last year, The Daily Caller <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/02/gender-clinic-puberty-blockers-chop-pennsylvania/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that a gender clinic in Pennsylvania &#8220;offered puberty blockers to kids as young as 8, [and] surgery referrals at 14.&#8221;
The White House, trans activists, and medical associations have been able to maintain the fiction that these are extremely rare procedures — conducted by only a small handful of hospitals — because of a deliberate, large-scale media blackout on the truth. But yesterday, the group &#8220;Do No Harm,&#8221; which is an association of medical professionals, ended that blackout. They launched an online, publicly accessible database called <a href="https://stoptheharmdatabase.com/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;Stop the Harm,&#8221;</a> which exposes the extent of child mutilation that&#8217;s occurring in hospitals across the United States.
Before I go any further, it&#8217;s important to keep in mind that this database relies on insurance claims information, which means that if anything, it&#8217;s substantially undercounting the actual number of trans surgeries that are taking place because it doesn&#8217;t capture operations that were paid for in cash. Additionally, the database doesn&#8217;t include claims paid out by Kaiser insurance — which is a huge insurer, but their data was unavailable. And on top of that, the database only captures children who received a formal gender related diagnosis.
Given those limitations, here&#8217;s what the group uncovered. Between 2019 and 2023, a minimum of 13,994 children underwent &#8220;sex change treatments.&#8221; Specifically, more than 5,700 minors had &#8220;sex change surgeries,&#8221; according to Do No Harm&#8217;s database. More than 8,500 received &#8220;hormones and puberty blockers.&#8221; And in all, more than 62,000 &#8220;sex change prescriptions&#8221; were written for minors. These procedures, in total, involved doctors billing insurance for roughly $120 million. And there&#8217;s evidence that a very small number of doctors are racking up huge bills.
A single doctor at New York&#8217;s Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospital, for example, billed nearly $5 million over the last four years for &#8220;sex change interventions&#8221; involving children, according to Do No Harm. A doctor at Stanford billed more than $4 million for the same purpose.
In Missouri alone, Do No Harm found that there were more than 194 minor &#8220;sex change patients&#8221; from 2019 to 2023, 44 of them received surgery, at places like St. Louis Children&#8217;s Hospital and Children&#8217;s Mercy Hospital. 151 received hormones and puberty blockers.
So that &#8220;fact-check&#8221; from the CBS affiliate KMOV that I played earlier was a straight-up lie. There wasn&#8217;t anything remotely accurate about it.
As striking as all of these numbers are, there&#8217;s another figure that&#8217;s even more astounding. If you look through the database, you&#8217;ll find that approximately 2,000 hospitals and medical facilities in this country performed some kind of gender transition, whether surgical or pharmaceutical, on a child between 2019 and 2023. Yes, thousands of hospitals and medical facilities — including some of the biggest children&#8217;s hospitals in the country — have been participating in this butchery. This is a practice that Left-wing activists say is &#8220;very rare,&#8221; if they don&#8217;t deny it&#8217;s happening entirely. But it is happening, all over the place.

The perpetrators include the Children&#8217;s Hospital of Philadelphia, Boston&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Hospital, the Children&#8217;s Hospital of Los Angeles, Seattle Children&#8217;s, New York University, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the Cincinnati Children&#8217;s Hospital. The list also includes smaller facilities like the University of Kentucky Children&#8217;s Hospital, the Children&#8217;s Hospital of New Orleans, and St. Luke&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Hospital in Idaho.
Whatever you call this barbarism, there&#8217;s one word you can&#8217;t use to describe it. You can&#8217;t call it &#8220;very rare.&#8221; You also can&#8217;t deny it&#8217;s happening at all. At a minimum, thousands of hospitals and medical procedures are performing thousands of life-altering procedures on children. And some of the most powerful institutions in this country — from the government to the media — have been lying to our faces about it for years. That is now very clear. In fact, according to the American Hospital Association, there are a little more than 6,000 hospitals in the country in total. If about 2,000 have performed either surgical or pharmaceutical gender transition procedures on minors, that means a third of the hospitals in the country are involved. A third hardly qualifies as rare, much less very rare.
It&#8217;s also clear that if Kamala Harris somehow becomes the president of the United States in a couple of months, this evil is only going to accelerate. Previously on this show, I&#8217;ve played footage from the various segregated Zoom calls that have been organized independently to promote the Kamala Harris campaign. There&#8217;s White Dudes for Harris, Black Women for Harris, and so on. Now I&#8217;ve obtained footage from the &#8220;Trans Families for Harris&#8221; Zoom call. And in this call, several parents said that they support Kamala Harris because they want the ability to change their child&#8217;s gender, despite the fact that changing their child’s gender is medically impossible.
Here&#8217;s a parent named Jeff Bender, for example. So he just comes out and says that what teachers say is more important than what parents say. He&#8217;s fine with teachers telling children to disregard their parents — which is something that no teacher, much less a second-grade teacher, should be saying.

Another parent, a former Democrat congresswoman named Marie Newman, explained that her child was suicidal as a young teen. So she sent him to an intensive, 3-month group therapy program, with sessions lasting 12 hours per day. We&#8217;ve reached a point where the same people who claimed to oppose &#8220;conversion therapy&#8221; — whatever that was exactly — are now openly celebrating therapy sessions that supposedly &#8220;convert&#8221; their child into a different gender. Apparently that kind of conversion is completely fine. If you want to get indoctrinated into the LGBTQIA+ alphabet by your teacher, or your therapy camp, then that&#8217;s worth celebrating. But if anyone tells you that this is dangerous — that it puts you on the path to sterilization and life-destroying surgeries — then they&#8217;re engaging in &#8220;conversion therapy,&#8221; and they&#8217;re terrible people.
This is the kind of dishonesty and manipulation that underlies the entire gender ideology movement — and has since its inception. There&#8217;s no consistency whatsoever. It&#8217;s an ideology that can only survive by burying as much information as possible so that people don&#8217;t realize what&#8217;s actually happening. And what&#8217;s happening is that a massive industry has sprung up to monetize an unprecedented social contagion.

The New York Times just <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/08/health/transgender-teenagers-cdc-survey.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that one out of every 33 high school kids now identifies as transgender. This is a massive increase in a very short period of time. As Robert Sterling <a href="https://x.com/RobertMSterling/status/1843801130666516773" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out</a>, the DSM-IV, which was in effect from 1994 until 2013, estimated that transsexualism affected 1 out of every 30,000 males and 100,000 females. In other words, just a decade ago, researchers were supposedly off by a factor of 1,000 about the number of people who are &#8220;transgender.&#8221; This is a social contagion. That&#8217;s clear to anyone who looks at the data. It&#8217;s also a booming industry. And a lot of so-called physicians are taking full advantage of it.
That&#8217;s why this week&#8217;s report from &#8220;Do No Harm&#8221; is so important. More Americans than ever are now aware of how widespread this agenda really is. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/boston-childrens-hospital-under-fire-again-for-video-claiming-young-kids-know-their-gender-seemingly-from-the-womb" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston Children’s Hospital</a>, one of the leading medical establishments in the U.S. encouraging life-altering gender procedures for minors, was reimbursed for the controversial treatments with taxpayer dollars.
From January 2015 to May 2023, Massachusetts reimbursed the Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) $1.4 million for so-called &#8220;gender transition services,&#8221; according to documents obtained by <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/10/30/childrens-hospital-transgender-services/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Caller</a>. The hospital, which boasts of having the first pediatric transgender surgery center in the country, has performed hundreds of gender surgeries on children since 2017 and has offered phalloplasties for 18-year-old boys and vaginoplasties for girls as young as 17, according to scrubbed pages of its <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210914090829/https://www.childrenshospital.org/centers-and-services/programs/a-_-e/center-for-gender-surgery-program/eligibility-for-surgery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>. 
The Daily Caller reported that the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services said it paid BCH $1.4 million for “Gender transition services (i.e., physician’s services, inpatient and outpatient, hospital services, surgical services, prescribed drugs, therapies, etc.)” between January 2015 and May 2023.
Last year, BCH was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pediatric-gender-clinics-scrub-their-websites-amidst-criticism-of-gender-related-treatments" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criticized</a> for offering on its website a “full suite of surgical options for transgender teens.” After public backlash to advertising its gender surgeries for children, BCH deleted a video from its YouTube channel that showed a doctor speaking positively about removing a uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and cervix for an elective “gender affirming hysterectomy.”
BCH has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/boston-childrens-hospital-offering-gender-affirming-hysterectomies-to-kids-who-cant-even-drink-legally" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promoted</a> breast augmentations or double mastectomies in the name of gender affirmation for girls as young as 15. According to the National Institutes of Health, BCH performed 204 “gender affirmation” surgeries between 2017 and 2020, The Daily Caller reported. Those operations included 65 chest surgeries, with the youngest patient being 15 years old. 
Earlier this year, Oren Ganor, the co-director of BCH’s Center for Gender Surgery, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/boston-childrens-hospital-official-expand-training-for-gender-affirming-surgeries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">co-wrote an article</a> that called for increasing training for gender surgeries. 
“With certain states restricting gender-affirming surgeries, residency programs in states with more favorable regulations must ensure they increase training efforts to accommodate increased caseloads of gender-affirming surgeries that will likely result,” <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/2801614">wrote</a> Ganor along with Harvard graduate Shawheen Rezaei. 
BCH has not responded to a request for comment.

As leftists continue to push for gender surgeries to be readily available to minors, many taxpayers are now funding the life-altering procedures. Last week, The Daily Wire reported that Pennsylvania also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pennsylvania-spent-over-20-million-on-transgender-medical-services-for-children-and-youth-report">spent</a> nearly $20 million in tax dollars on puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries for children between 2015 and July of this year. The money was provided through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), according to records obtained by the Pennsylvania Family Institute. 
Florida recently took action to stop Medicaid providers from using taxpayer dollars for transgender procedures. In August, the Sunshine State <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-florida-fines-medicaid-providers-for-using-tax-dollars-to-cover-trans-treatments-for-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fined</a> five Medicaid insurers for violating state law against using taxpayer funds to provide coverage for transgender procedures.

A woman pled guilty on Thursday to calling in a fake bomb threat at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/boston-childrens-hospital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston Children&#8217;s Hospital</a> while the hospital was at the center of a controversy about its transgender youth surgery program.
Catherine Leavy, 37, <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/westfield-woman-pleads-guilty-making-hoax-bomb-threat-against-boston-childrens-hospital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pled guilty</a> in Boston federal court to one count of making a false bomb threat and one count of intentionally conveying false or misleading information that a bomb was on the way to the hospital, prosecutors said in a press release Thursday.
Leavy called in the hoax bomb threat in August of last year, just as Boston Children’s Hospital was facing a flood of criticism over its transgender youth surgery program. The next month, Leavy was arrested at her home just west of Springfield. She was charged and later indicted by a federal grand jury in October.
She is scheduled to be sentenced in March and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for the false bomb threat, the more serious charge. The other charge carries five years in prison, and both carry three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
On August 30 last year, the hospital got a call in which the caller said, “There is a bomb on the way to the hospital, you better evacuate everybody, you sickos.”
The hospital and nearby area was put on lockdown, and a bomb squad arrived on the scene, but no explosive devices were found.
When police showed up at her house, Leavy expressed her disapproval of Boston Children’s Hospital in an interview with law enforcement, but she said she had no plan to actually bomb the hospital, according to the DOJ.

Last summer, the hospital, which is one of the nation&#8217;s top hospitals and affiliated with Harvard Medical School, came under fire from critics over its transgender surgeries available to children.
Boston Children’s Hospital’s Center for Gender Surgery <a href="https://www.childrenshospital.org/treatments/chest-reconstruction" rel="noopener">lists</a> chest surgery with parental consent for girls 15 and up who identify as male.
Initially, the hospital&#8217;s website had <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220725014638/https://www.childrenshospital.org/treatments/vaginoplasty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> 17-year-olds could qualify for vaginoplasty surgery, but that language was removed, and the hospital <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pediatric-gender-clinics-scrub-their-websites-amidst-criticism-of-gender-related-treatments">claimed</a> it was &#8220;misinformation&#8221; that they ever performed transgender genital surgeries on minors.
The hospital also <a href="https://www.childrenshospital.org/programs/transgender-reproductive-health-service" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lists</a> &#8220;gender-affirming hysterectomies&#8221; for women 18 and older.
Over the last few years, critics have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/st-louis-clinic-ditches-transgender-care-for-minors-over-law-exposing-doctors-to-lawsuits">sounded the alarm</a> about the permanent effects of both gender hormone treatments such as puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and surgical procedures, especially on children.
The number of gender surgeries nearly tripled in the U.S. from 2016 to 2019, according to an <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2808707?utm_source=For_The_Media&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=ftm_links&amp;utm_term=082323" target="_blank" rel="noopener">analysis</a> published Wednesday in JAMA Network Open. In 2016, there were about 4,550 procedures, and that number spiked to around 13,000 in 2019.
Hundreds of girls in the U.S., some as young as 12, <a href="https://www.medpagetoday.com/pediatrics/generalpediatrics/101252?xid=nl_mpt_DHE_2022-10-17&amp;eun=g394940d0r&amp;utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Daily%20Headlines%20Evening%202022-10-17&amp;utm_term=NL_Daily_DHE_dual-gmail-definition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have gotten</a> elective, gender-related double mastectomies to remove their healthy breasts over the last few years.
Meanwhile, it is more popular than ever for youth to adopt new gender identities. An estimated 300,000 minors aged 13 to 17 <a href="https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/press/transgender-estimate-press-release/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identified</a> as transgender as of last year.

Woman Who Called In Fake Bomb Threat At Boston Children’s Hospital Pleads Guilty

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is funding research on the effects of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone treatment on youth despite acknowledgment from the grantee that these medical interventions can result in sterility.
A <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/consent_forms-JOK.pdf">parent or guardian consent form</a> from Children&#8217;s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), titled “Pubertal Blockers for Minors in Early Adolescence,” states, “If your child starts puberty blockers in the earliest stages of puberty, and then goes on to gender affirming hormones, they will not develop sperm or eggs. This means that they will not be able to have biological children.”

It goes on to read, “This is an important aspect of blocking puberty and progressing to hormones that you should understand prior to moving forward with puberty suppression.”  It adds that fertility can be maintained if a child takes puberty blockers but does not undergo cross-sex hormone therapy. <a href="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0243894">Two</a> different <a href="https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanchi/article/PIIS2352-4642(22)00254-1/fulltext#%20">studies</a>, however, have found that roughly 98% of children who take puberty blockers go on to take cross-sex hormone therapy. 
After the parent/guardian decides to proceed with pubertal blocker medication, the consent form requires the signature of both the parent/guardian and the child (patient).
Dr. Stanley Goldfarb is the director of an advocacy group called <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/about/">Do No Harm</a>, which seeks to &#8220;protect healthcare from a radical, divisive, and discriminatory ideology.&#8221; He criticized the idea of a minor possibly signing away their ability to reproduce.   
&#8220;Anyone who thinks a child reading this document will be able to give informed consent is engaging in a massive instance of self delusion,” Goldfarb told The Daily Wire. “Children simply cannot understand the impact of any of this on their bodies, and on their future.” 
The CHLA form echoes a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/irreversible-infertility-listed-as-risk-of-hormone-therapy-on-trans-clinic-waiver">waiver</a> from the University of Virginia Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital Transgender Youth Health that listed “irreversible infertility” as a potential side effect of cross-sex hormone therapy.
“It is unconscionable that a hospital would use children as guinea pigs at the behest of the federal government — offering families a paltry sum,” said Nicki Neily, founder and president of Parents Defending Education, a nonprofit on a mission to &#8220;reclaim our schools from activists imposing harmful agendas.&#8221;
“Polling has consistently found that a majority of Americans oppose these procedures. For the federal government to fund this research with tax dollars, despite such widespread opposition, is truly insult to injury,” she continued.
An NIH-funded <a href="https://reporter.nih.gov/search/OPTb_4f5-kOe2wU2YYzolA/project-details/10615754">study</a> at CHLA titled “The Impact of Early Medical Treatment in Transgender Youth” focuses on the use of transgender drugs on youth. It is led by <a href="https://www.chla.org/profile/johanna-olson-kennedy-md">Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy</a>, the Medical Director for The Center for Transyouth Health and Development at CHLA, which describes itself as the “largest transgender youth clinic in the United States.” The project, which <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/AwardDetail?arg_AwardNum=R01HD082554&amp;arg_ProgOfficeCode=50">began</a> in fiscal year 2015 but is still ongoing, <a href="https://reporter.nih.gov/search/OPTb_4f5-kOe2wU2YYzolA/project-details/10401756">boasts</a> that it “successfully recruited” two cohorts, consisting of “95 youth initiating pubertal suppression with gonadotropin releasing hormone analogs” as well as “316 youth initiating gender-affirming hormone (GAH) therapy (testosterone or estrogen).” It aims to &#8220;examine physiological and psychosocial effects of medical intervention for transgender and gender diverse (TGD) youth with gender dysphoria.&#8221;
Another form from CHLA obtained by Parents Defending Education reveals that patients were offered financial incentives to participate in the study. 
“In consideration of your time participating in this research, the study team would like to offer you payment,” it states before specifying that participants would receive $50 for each visit, totaling $400. 
It also adds, “you or a family member or friend you designate will receive reimbursement for parking and/or transportation, or be provided transportation as needed.”

While CHLA is listed as the awardee organization, the study is carried out across four transgender youth clinics, including Boston Children’s Hospital, the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital, and the Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
The study <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/AwardDetail?arg_AwardNum=R01HD082554&amp;arg_ProgOfficeCode=50">received</a> $7,748,467 from 2015 to 2022 before securing another $963,441 in fiscal year 2023. The researchers note that the renewal would allow them to “evaluate the longer-term physiological and psychological impact of existing medical treatment protocols initiated in adolescence on youth with gender dysphoria for up to an additional 4 years.” They will attempt to “enhance the diversity and size of existing cohorts by enrolling additional youth of color (YOC) into both cohorts” as they continue the study.

While the researchers have stated that early results have shown &#8220;a positive trend regarding mental health response to gender affirming interventions,” a recent <a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2206297">article</a> about the ongoing study reported “death by suicide occurred in 2 participants,” while 11 others experienced suicidal ideation.
Republican members of Congress responded to the deaths with a <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/05/09/exclusive-republicans-demand-answers-nih-transgender-youth-experiments-study-left-2-dead-others-sterilized/">letter</a> to NIH Acting Director Lawrence Tabak, citing “grave concerns” about the study while also pointing out that “the researchers admitted that they were not able to properly establish causality between the administration of cross-sex hormones and improved psychosocial functioning because their study lacked a control group.”
Meanwhile, the NIH is also giving more than $3.2 million to an effort from the Boston Children’s Hospital to produce a “trans health guide” that aims to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republican-senators-blast-nih-for-3-million-grant-to-expand-medical-transitions-for-minors">expand access</a> to sex changes for minors.
Neither CHLA nor NIH responded to requests for comment.

The co-director at Boston Children&#8217;s Hospital&#8217;s Center for Gender Surgery co-wrote an article that declared a need for increasing training efforts for gender-affirming surgeries.
The center performs mastectomies on teenagers as young as 15; the hospital <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220812191705/https:/www.childrenshospital.org/programs/center-gender-surgery-program/eligibility-surgery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a> on its website (later deleted) that 17-year-olds could receive vaginoplasties and 18-year-olds could receive phalloplasties or metoidioplasties (surgical creations of a penis for a female).
“Physicians who provide GAC [gender affirming care] will face a greater burden due to constraints in certain states and increasing demands for care,” plastic and reconstructive surgeon Oren Ganor, the co-director of the center, co-wrote in an <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/2801614" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> published in the March 14 edition of The Journal of the American Medical Association. “Especially as certain states work to criminalize GAC for adolescents, there will be an increased flux of patients traveling to seek care in states with more open legislation.”
“Although the legal landscape may be more favorable in these states, the capacity to treat these patients does not match the demand,” the co-authors continued. “How, then, can these states expand clinician capacity and improve competencies in treating transgender patients? The medical community can take several steps to improve capacity for this patient population. &#8230; With certain states restricting gender-affirming surgeries, residency programs in states with more favorable regulations must ensure they increase training efforts to accommodate increased caseloads of gender-affirming surgeries that will likely result.”
The co-authors cited “rampant transphobia in the U.S.,” claiming it “sometimes results in increased violence against transgender people plus intimidation and threats of violence against those who provide their care.”

Without this care, gender-diverse youth can experience severe distress, anxiety, and depression,” the hospital <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/boston-childrens-hospital-director-calls-drastic-increase-capacity-gender-surgeries-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News Digital.
“[A]ny decisions about gender-affirming care should be made after a rigorous evaluation process that involves a psychologist or social worker, a patient&#8217;s doctor and their parents or guardians.”
A hospital spokesperson clarified, “for surgical consultation, you must be 17 years of age and between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of surgery. We have since updated this to reflect the protocols for the practice, which we have always adhered to (no surgery under 18 years of age).”
