Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has praised former President Donald Trump in a series of interviews over the last week for the strength that America projected overseas under his leadership.
In one interview, Johnson says that Trump is correct when he claims that Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if he had been president.
&#8220;I happen to believe that when Donald Trump says that had he been President in 2022, there would have been no Russian invasion of Ukraine,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;My view is that is a credible assertion. I really do think that&#8217;s credible.&#8221;

In a separate interview, Johnson went into greater depth about why he believes that Trump is tremendous on the foreign policy front.
&#8220;He stood up to Bashar Al Assad, the Syrian dictator,&#8221; he said. &#8220;He bombed him when he used chemical weapons — chemical weapons against his own people. Donald Trump hit back and Assad never used chemical weapons again. We talk about Iran. Trump took out Qassem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC Quds Force. Iran really went quiet after that.&#8221;
&#8220;And when it came to Putin, a lot of people say Trump is a big buddy of Putin,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Well, I didn&#8217;t see that when I was foreign secretary. I saw Trump expel 60 Russian diplomats after they poisoned some people as you may remember, [when] the Russians poisoned people in our country with chemical weapons, with Novichok.&#8221;
Johnson noted that Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins, powerful shoulder-fired missiles, that Ukraine used to prevent Russia from rapidly overtaking the entire country.
&#8220;Everybody says he&#8217;s friendly with Putin, I don&#8217;t see that,&#8221; he said. &#8220;He gave the Ukrainians those shoulder-launched Javelin missiles, which were very important to Ukraine in the defense of Kyiv and routing Putin&#8217;s troops. So I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going to happen, but I have hope that Trump will, if Trump is elected, if Donald Trump is elected, that he will be the strong president overseas that I saw.&#8221;

Former British prime minister Boris Johnson abruptly resigned from Parliament on Friday after receiving the results of an investigation he <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/09/uk/uk-boris-johnson-stepping-down-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> was meant to &#8220;drive me out.&#8221;
Johnson is under investigation by a committee of the House of Commons, which is looking into whether Johnson lied to Parliament about parties in Downing Street that flouted COVID lockdowns, known as &#8220;Partygate.&#8221;
The former prime minister said he was “bewildered and appalled” to receive a letter from the investigating committee, which he said made “it clear, much to my amazement, that they are determined to use the proceedings against me to drive me out of Parliament.”
Johnson said the investigation&#8217;s &#8220;Partygate&#8221; report “is riddled with inaccuracies and reeks of prejudice but under their absurd and unjust process I have no formal ability to challenge anything they say.”
The &#8220;Partygate&#8221; report has not been released publicly yet, but Johnson received a confidential copy.

He hinted, however, that his political career may not be completely over.
“It is very sad to be leaving Parliament — at least for now,” he said.

His resignation allows him to avoid being disciplined or ousted from his Commons seat, and it will also keep him able to run again for Parliament in the future if he decides to do so.
Last year, Johnson became the first sitting prime minister to be found guilty of breaking the law when the Metropolitan Police issued him a fine for attending a gathering in Downing Street during the COVID lockdown.
The police ended up issuing 126 fines over the late-night parties, which featured alcohol.
In March, Johnson told the committee he did mislead Parliament about gatherings during lockdown, but only accidentally.
Johnson <a href="https://apnews.com/article/boris-johnson-resignation-honors-list-e82c6897b3786e46252190e28ca6686c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the committee that he &#8220;honestly believed&#8221; the five events he attended were &#8220;lawful work gatherings&#8221; that would boost morale among staffers who were overworked during the pandemic. One event was a send-off for a staffer, and one was Johnson&#8217;s own surprise birthday party.
“They have still not produced a shred of evidence that I knowingly or recklessly misled the Commons,” Johnson <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/09/world/europe/boris-johson-resigns.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Friday.
He slammed the investigation as “a witch hunt” and simply revenge “for Brexit and ultimately to reverse the 2016 referendum result.”
“Their purpose from the beginning has been to find me guilty, regardless of the facts,” Johnson said.
Johnson, 58, was prime minister and leader of the Conservative Party from July 2019 to September 2022. Previously, he was mayor of London from 2008 to 2016.
The flamboyant Conservative leader became known as a populist leader with broad appeal, although he faced harsh political critics, who accused him of bending rules to suit his style, and <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/boris-johnson-apologises-past-racism-131857321.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">racism</a>.
As prime minister, Johnson fought to “get Brexit done,” even if it meant moving forward with a &#8220;no-deal&#8221; Brexit, meaning the United Kingdom would withdraw from the European Union without a withdrawal agreement.
Johnson&#8217;s resignation will trigger a special election to replace him as representative from west London in the House of Commons.

Former British Prime Minister <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/boris-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boris Johnson</a> said during a Fox News interview Tuesday evening that Russian President Vladimir Putin was trying to mess with his mind when Putin allegedly suggested that he could kill Johnson.
Johnson said during a BBC documentary, &#8220;He threatened me at one point, and he said, &#8216;Boris, I don&#8217;t want to hurt you but, with a missile, it would only take a minute&#8217; or something like that.&#8221;
Johnson was asked about the remarks during an interview on &#8220;Special Report&#8221; with Bret Baier.
Baier noted that the Russians have pushed back strongly against that claim and that some in the U.K., like former Brexit party leader Nigel Farage, have doubted the story.
&#8220;As ever with Boris Johnson, lots of personality, lots of color, good story, but when it comes to facts, when it comes to detail, when it comes to the absolute truth, I think Boris Johnson&#8217;s relationship with those things is somewhat loose, to put it mildly,&#8221; Farage said.
When asked to respond to Farage&#8217;s claims, Johnson said, &#8220;Well, look, I think that the Kremlin &#8212; and I don&#8217;t know if Nigel&#8217;s speaking for the Kremlin, but the Kremlin are fabled for their complete refusal to tell the truth about anything that&#8217;s happening in Ukraine.&#8221;
&#8220;I think what Putin was trying to do that was creep me out and try to &#8212; what he was doing, Bret, was trying to reduce it to a story about a nuclear standoff between &#8212; between Russia and NATO. And so that&#8217;s why he talks about, &#8216;I don&#8217;t want to harm you with a missile,’” he continued. &#8220;He wants it to be about Russia vs. NATO, and he wants to drag in the whole nuclear issue. We have got to avoid being sucked down that rabbit hole. This is not what it&#8217;s about. It&#8217;s about the invasion of a completely innocent country, right, a European democracy, that was no conceivable threat to Russia.&#8221;

Tonight, we&#8217;re pleased to welcome former Prime Minister of the U.K. Boris Johnson to &#8220;Special Report,&#8221; just returned from his most recent trip to Ukraine, where he had in-depth discussions with President Zelenskyy.
Mr. Prime Minister, thanks for the time.
BORIS JOHNSON, FORMER BRITISH PRIME MINISTER: Such a pleasure, Bret. And good to be on your show.
BAIER: You were the first Western leader to go into Ukraine and meet with President Zelenskyy in Kyiv.
As you look at the map now and what has transpired since that time, what do you see and what do you hear from President Zelenskyy?
JOHNSON: So, I was back in Ukraine just a couple of weeks ago.
And the situation is a bit better in Kyiv. But I saw the devastation around that city, the lives ruined, the totally destroyed apartment blocks. And that&#8217;s nothing compared to what&#8217;s happening in the areas that Putin is still attacking.
And so that the message I really have, Bret, for you, for all our viewers is, this is not the moment to delay any support for Ukraine. This is the moment to double down on our support. Give them what they need, whether it&#8217;s the tanks or the long-range artillery fires. They need to kick Putin out of the whole of the territory.
And I know how people in America have done an incredible job. The faster Putin gets out of Ukraine, the quicker we return to stability, and the more powerful the message we send to people like China that the West, that America, the U.K., the West will not tolerate aggressive attempts to change borders by force.
So, stick with it.
BAIER: You know, you wrote in an op-ed about Putin paved the way for Ukrainian entrance into NATO.
And then you write: &#8220;Instead of properly punishing him, Putin, we responded with a policy of craven appeasement. Ukrainians should be given everything they need to finish this war as quickly as possible.&#8221;
You think there is any lack of will? Do you sense that? You were just up on Capitol Hill.
JOHNSON: Yes, so I just &#8212; I just talked to Lindsey Graham. I talked to Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy &#8212; Speaker McCarthy, loads of others.
I find there&#8217;s a massive amount of bipartisan support. And look, I want to pay tribute to the Biden administration. What they did, what Joe did, what Joe Biden did, what all his people did in very difficult circumstances was, they stepped up to the plate and they gave Ukraine what it needed.
What I think we all need to do now is go further and save time, save money, save lives, and give the Ukrainians what they &#8212; what they need. And you mentioned the appeasement point. This all goes back to our failure in 2014 to punish Putin properly for what he had done. And we put on some sanctions, but they weren&#8217;t really very tough. But we basically allowed him to invade Ukraine, invaded &#8212; you remember, he took the Crimea and he took the eastern parts of the Donbas.
And then he kept twisting the knife in the wound, and we never really punished him for it.
BAIER: You said something in a British documentary about Putin, saying that you felt that he was threatening you at one of the conversations you had about &#8220;I could fire a missile,&#8221; essentially, &#8220;to take you out.&#8221;
JOHNSON: Yes.
BAIER: The Russians pushed back on that characterization very hard.
JOHNSON: Yes.
BAIER: Some of your own countrymen raised questions about it.

BAIER: A couple of quick questions about the U.K.
Why is there not a trade agreement specifically between the U.K. and the U.S. post-Brexit? And do you think that that hurts the relationship?
JOHNSON: Bret, I&#8217;m glad you said that.
And I think that there needs to be a free trade agreement as fast as possible. And our side is definitely on for it. I think one of the things that the world needs is more free trade. I&#8217;m afraid I&#8217;m on that side of the argument. I&#8217;m not a &#8212; I&#8217;m not an isolationist. I don&#8217;t believe in a mercantilist approach to the economy.
I&#8217;m delighted to say that the U.S. has lifted its ban on British beef. And I think you have lifted your ban on British lamb, which is fantastic. Wham, bam, thank you, lamb. You can have some of that.

JOHNSON: But where &#8212; why not do a big free trade deal?
All the evidence is that these deals increase growth, boost jobs, boost high-wage jobs. Let&#8217;s do it.
BAIER: Yes.
JOHNSON: I don&#8217;t think either side has anything &#8212; anything to fear.

BAIER: Let me end where I began. Just a few seconds left.
And that is on the weapons going in.
JOHNSON: Yes.
BAIER: Do you think Ukraine is getting these F-16 fighter planes, despite what the administration is saying and the president&#8217;s saying?
JOHNSON: Bret, all I will say is that every time we have said that it will be a mistake to give such and such an item of weaponry, we end up doing it, and it ends up being the right thing for Ukraine.
I remember being told that it was the wrong idea to give them the anti-tank shoulder-launched missiles. Actually, they were indispensable, and the United States, under Donald Trump, gave them the Javelins as well. They were indispensable in those battles to repel the Russian tanks.
People said that we shouldn&#8217;t give the HIMARS. I remember having arguments about the multiple-launch rocket systems, the MLRS. Actually, they proved invaluable for the Ukrainians.
BAIER: So, you think they&#8217;re going in?
JOHNSON: And the same with tanks, same with tanks, Bret. We said the same about tanks.
Look, all I&#8217;m saying is, save time, save money, save lives. Give the Ukrainians what they need as fast as possible. Get this thing done. Forget about Putin. Go for economic stability, long-term peace and prosperity. That&#8217;s what America&#8230;

BAIER: And for the people who say they&#8217;re worried about World War III, they&#8217;re worried about tactical nuclear weapons, they&#8217;re worried about Putin being backed up into a wall, and then we get&#8230;
JOHNSON: That&#8217;s &#8212; that&#8217;s what he wants you to think. That&#8217;s what he wants you to think.
And I will tell you why that&#8217;s not going to happen. It&#8217;s not going to happen for &#8212; because he would lose the Chinese immediately. He loses all his support from the swing voters, from the Indians, the sub-Saharan Africans, and so on, the Gulf states, people who are kind of cutting him too much slack at the moment. He absolutely terrifies his own population, who worry about reprisals.
You know what? He probably doesn&#8217;t even stop the Ukrainians if he did that. And we would put his economy into such a cryogenic paralysis that Russia would &#8212; wouldn&#8217;t come out of it for decades.
So, he&#8217;s not going to do that.
BAIER: Well, Prime Minister&#8230;

That means Ukraine winning, Putin losing. Let&#8217;s give the Ukrainians what they need.

News of Sunak’s attainment of the premiership occurred after Penny Mordaunt, a fellow Conservative lawmaker, <a href="https://twitter.com/PennyMordaunt/status/1584529702466686977">announced</a> that her colleagues had made a decision to back Sunak “in good faith for the good of the country,” effectively leading her to drop out of the contest.
“These are unprecedented times. Despite the compressed timetable for the leadership contest it is clear that colleagues feel we need certainty today,” Mordaunt said. “This decision is an historic one and shows, once again, the diversity and talent of our party. Rishi has my full support.”
Sunak, who is 42 years old, will be the youngest British prime minister in more than two centuries. He had predicted the negative market effects of Truss’ economic plan earlier this year during the campaign to replace Johnson. Indeed, after investors <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/conservative-british-prime-minister-sticks-by-pro-growth-tax-cut-plan-after-establishment-criticism">concerned</a> about the government’s ability to meet debt obligations jettisoned their assets, Truss announced last week that she would eliminate portions of her plan and dismiss finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng. The political chaos occurs immediately after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who approved Truss as the head of government days before her death.
More than 100 Conservatives had conspired to oust Truss, according to a <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11321737/Plot-topple-Liz-Truss-MPs-call-Prime-Minister-quit-amid-rumours-WEEK.html">report</a> from The Daily Mail. “She has lost the confidence of the markets and she is hemorrhaging support. A new election is expected next week to choose a leader of the ruling Conservative Party. There were early reports that Johnson could return to the role he held from July 2019 until last month. <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/10/20/liz-truss-news-resign-pm-conservative-party-general-election/">The Telegraph</a>, citing an unnamed Tory member of parliament said lawmakers were talking openly of a “spectacular return” for Johnson.
Truss will remain in office until her successor has been chosen. In addition to the possibility of a comeback by Johnson, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, who replaced Kwasi Kwarteng, the author of the scrapped tax cuts, has been mentioned as a possible successor.
It was Kwarteng’s tax cuts, part of a “mini-budget” he announced last month, that led to Truss’s downfall. Kwarteng was fired Friday and replaced by Hunt, who reversed most of the budget proposal, drastically undermining Truss’s authority.
The resignation came just a day after Truss told MPs she was a &#8220;fighter, not a quitter.&#8221;

Natural gas prices in much of Europe have increased <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/back-to-the-dark-ages-tucker-carlson-details-europes-self-induced-energy-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than tenfold</a> in recent weeks compared to normal levels, prompting various nations to encourage lower usage among households and businesses. Truss is reportedly weighing an energy relief package worth £40 billion, the equivalent of $46.1 billion, according to documents <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-09-06/truss-plans-40-billion-energy-aid-package-for-uk-businesses" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seen</a> by Bloomberg. On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron called for a 10% reduction in the nation’s energy usage. He <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/french-president-calls-for-10-cut-in-energy-use-will-ration-power-as-a-last-resort" target="_blank" rel="noopener">urged residents</a> of France to use air conditioning and heating a “bit less than usual” to avoid power outages — such as by keeping indoor temperatures no more than 19 degrees Celsius, roughly 66 degrees Fahrenheit, through the winter. Meanwhile, the French government is preparing energy rationing initiatives that could be implemented “as a last resort.”
The legislature of Spain has already mandated that public air conditioning be set no lower than 27 degrees Celsius, roughly 80.6 degrees Fahrenheit, through the summer months. Germany, which imported 55% of its natural gas from Russia before the invasion of Ukraine, has since <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/germany-poised-to-shut-down-last-nuclear-plants-despite-gas-shortage-ahead-of-winter-months" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reduced its dependence</a> to 35%.
However, Russia cut off natural gas shipments through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline over the weekend and called for the removal of sanctions imposed by Western powers in reaction to the Ukraine conflict. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed to reporters that the nation may resume gas shipments via Nord Stream 1 if the sanctions are eased.
“Problems with gas supply arose because of the sanctions imposed on our country by Western states, including Germany and Britain,” Peskov said. “We see incessant attempts to shift responsibility and blame onto us. We categorically reject this and insist that the collective West — in this case, the European Union, Canada, and the United Kingdom — is to blame for the fact that the situation has reached the point where it is now.”

Supreme Court Justice <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/samuel-alito">Samuel Alito</a> slammed foreign leaders who attacked the Court&#8217;s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization.
Speaking at the University of Notre Dame&#8217;s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uci4uni608E&amp;t=1467s">Religious Liberty Summit</a> last week, Justice Alito fired back at a number of foreign leaders who criticized the <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf/19-1392_6j37.pdf">Dobbs decision</a>, which overturned Roe v. Wade and restored power to the states to legislate the issue of abortion. Alito poked fun at some of them, including ousted former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Prince Harry, who gave an impassioned lament at the United Nations comparing Dobbs to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Alito prefaced his comments by talking about a crisis of shrinking freedom of religious speech from foreign courts, which he intended to criticize. “I think we can see this sort of narrowing, particularly in the area of religious speech in the jurisprudence of some countries that profess to be dedicated to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of conscience,&#8221; Alito said. &#8220;Now when I was putting these remarks together, I was tempted at this point to provide some examples. I am not a diplomat &#8230; I wouldn&#8217;t be very bad about it, but it was unusual for me, this sort of diplomatic impulse came upon me, and I said to myself, &#8216;you&#8217;re an American judge, and what business is it of yours to criticize decisions that are handed down by foreign courts?’”
Alito then said that he was perfectly within his rights to criticize because of the criticism he received over the Dobbs decision.
“I&#8217;ve had some second thoughts over the last few weeks, since I had the honor this [Supreme Court] term of writing the only Supreme Court decision in the history of that institution that has been lambasted by a whole string of foreign leaders, who felt perfectly fine commenting on American law,&#8221; he said, eliciting a few laughs from the audience. &#8220;One of these was former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. But he paid the price,&#8221; Alito said, as the audience broke into laughter and applause. &#8220;Post hoc ergo propter hoc, right?&#8221; Alito joked.
&#8220;But others are still in office,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;[French] President [Emmanuel] Macron, and [Canadian] Prime Minister [Justin] Trudeau, I believe, are two. But what really wounded me, what really wounded me, was when the Duke of Sussex addressed the United Nations, and seemed to compare the decision whose name may not be spoken with the Russian attack on Ukraine.&#8221;
Alito, however, took the high road. &#8220;Well, despite this temptation, I&#8217;m not gonna talk about cases from other countries,&#8221; he said. &#8220;All I&#8217;m gonna say is that, ultimately, if we are going to win the battle to protect religious freedom in an increasingly secular society, we will need more than positive law.&#8221;
Johnson, Macron, Trudeau, and other <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/americas-foreign-allies-some-with-stricter-abortion-laws-than-u-s-lament-supreme-court-abortion-decision">foreign leaders</a> criticized the United States after the Dobbs decision was released. Johnson called the move a “big step backward.”

On Wednesday, Johnson, the head of Great Britain’s Conservative party (Tory party), <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10990655/Boris-Johnson-RESIGNS-Prime-Minister-replace-him.html">met</a> with Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi, whom Johnson had appointed only on Tuesday after his predecessor Rishi Sunak had stepped down.
Zahawi told Johnson, 58, that his situation was “not sustainable.” He was echoed by Education Secretary Michelle Donelan, who also had been appointed in the previous 36 hours. Fifty-two government ministers have resigned.
“A Downing Street source said Johnson has spoken to Sir Graham Brady &#8211; the chairman of the parliamentary group the 1922 Committee &#8211; and agreed to stand down, with a new Conservative leader set to be in place by the party conference in October,” <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10990655/Boris-Johnson-RESIGNS-Prime-Minister-replace-him.html">The Daily Mail</a> reported.
Two possibilities exist; Johnson may stay in office until a new leader is chosen or he may step down from the position. Speculation has arisen that former Prime Minister Theresa May could serve as a temporary replacement until a successor is chosen.
Johnson’s downfall was catalyzed by reports that he and his friends in government had held parties during the lockdowns imposed on the citizenry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he was harshly criticized for his knowledge of sexual misconduct allegations against Chris Pincher before he promoted him to deputy chief whip.
Donelan announced she was quitting on Thursday morning; two hours earlier Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis had made the same announcement, followed by Treasury minister Helen Whately, who stated, “There are only so many times you can apologize and move on.”
Their resignations were followed by those of security minister Damian Hinds, science minister George Freeman, and pensions minister Guy Opperman. Attorney General Suella Braverman urged Johnson to resign.
If Johnson called for a dissolution of Parliament and new elections in an attempt to survive, Queen Elizabeth could refuse his request based on the “Lascelles principles,” which say she can refuse if  Parliament is “vital, viable and capable of doing its job”; a new election would be “detrimental to the national economy,” or if she can determine “another prime minister who could govern for a reasonable period with a working majority.” Conservative party senior members think all three of those prerequisites are met.
Johnson, the former mayor of London and a champion of Brexit, came to power after he quit as May’s Foreign Secretary in 2018; she had championed a “&#8217;third way” Brexit plan. May failed to succeed with her Brexit deal in Parliament three times, then resigned. In July 2019, Johnson won a crushing victory in July 2019 to become leader of the Tory party and subsequently the prime minister, although the Tories were in the minority.
Johnson called for new elections, which were held on December 12, 2019, preaching, “Get Brexit Done.” The Tories won 365 seats, the biggest Conservative majority since Margaret Thatcher’s reign.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson survived a recent &#8220;no confidence&#8221; vote but now faces a mass exodus of government leaders as he confronts ongoing controversy.
The large-scale departures include more than 30 resignations from the British government since Tuesday, including at least 13 junior ministers and three cabinet members.

Member of Parliament Huw Merriman was among the most recent leaders to step down on Wednesday, with his resignation letter being tweeted while he sat in a Liaison Committee meeting with Johnson.
&#8220;Events of the past few days, however, have demonstrated a further failure on the part of the Prime Minister, in terms of judgment, competency and integrity,&#8221; Merriman wrote.
&#8220;We cannot continue like this,&#8221; he added. &#8220;The current situation is causing inertia in Government and if we allow standards expected of those in public service to fall, we will lose the trust of the public and we will never attract high calibre, trustworthy and hard-working individuals into politics or public service,&#8221; he added.

Johnson remained resilient despite calls from those in the Wednesday committee meeting who called for his resignation, though he admitted that the U.K. was “going through tough times.”
“You’re making a point about duty. I look at the issues we face today… I look at the biggest war in Europe for 80 years, and I cannot see for the life of me how it is responsible to just walk away like that,” he <a href="https://inews.co.uk/news/huw-merriman-mp-letter-boris-johnson-resign-liaison-committee-1726986?ito=social_itw_theipaper&amp;utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1657121300" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the committee.
What has Johnson done to set off the ire of so many in his own government? Part of the battle stretches back to an event dubbed the &#8220;Partygate&#8221; scandal that led to 126 fines related to breaking COVID rules at a holiday party. The highly-publicized incident portrayed Johnson as leading elites in revelry while others were sacrificing and mourning across the nation.
More recently, Johnson faced allegations that he lied to cover up being aware of &#8220;multiple allegations of sexual misconduct&#8221; against Tory Member of Parliament Chris Pincher before he became the government&#8217;s deputy chief whip.
On Tuesday, Lord McDonald of Salford, the former head of the Foreign Office, revealed that the prime minister had been informed of an investigation regarding Pincher before Johnson gave him the job. McDonald wrote in the <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/voters-turning-against-boris-johnson-pollster-says-162622021.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> that testified Johnson was briefed on the matter &#8220;in person.&#8221;
During a recent &#8220;no confidence&#8221; vote attempt in which opponents had hoped to force Johnson out of office, just 211 of 359 Conservative Members of Parliament voted in his favor for him to remain prime minister. The narrow victory means that Johnson cannot face another &#8220;no confidence&#8221; vote for 12 months under current British law.
Instead, critics have now resorted to a widescale resignation of government leaders across Parliament and beyond in order to force a change in the situation. Another <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-62064784" target="_blank" rel="noopener">option</a> would be for party leaders to change the one-year rule regarding another &#8220;no confidence&#8221; vote that could require Johnson to either resign or force a new election.
Despite controversies at home, Johnson has remained a staunch defender of the United States. As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-tries-to-get-boris-johnson-to-trash-the-united-states-they-were-not-expecting-his-response" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, when CNN’s Jake Tapper tried to encourage Johnson to bash democracy in America during a recent interview, the prime minister refused.
“When I talk to friends in Canada, the U.K., Australia and elsewhere, people express concern about the United States … in terms of our ability and our institutions to thrive and continue, after what happened with the election of 2020,” Tapper said. “They’re worried that democracy is on life support in the United States.”
“Are you worried at all?” Tapper asked. “Do you look at—”
“No,” Johnson fired back.
“You’re not?” Tapper asked.
“I want to say this to the people of the United States. I’m not,” Johnson responded. “I think that — I just get back to the — what I have been trying to say to you throughout this interview. I think that reports of the death of democracy in the United States are grossly, grossly exaggerated. America is a shining city on a hill.&#8221;
“I don’t believe that American democracy is under serious threat, far from it,” Johnson later added. “I continue to believe that America is the greatest global guarantor of democracy and freedom.”

On Tuesday, Johnson told German television network ZDF: &#8220;You need more women in positions of power. If Putin was a woman, which he obviously isn&#8217;t, but if he were, I really don&#8217;t think he would&#8217;ve embarked on a crazy, macho war of invasion and violence in the way that he has.&#8221;
&#8220;If you want a perfect example of toxic masculinity, it’s what he is doing in Ukraine,&#8221; Johnson added.

Johnson has also been accused of toxic masculinity in the past. On one occasion, it was reported that he told British politician Jeremy Corbyn to &#8220;man up.&#8221;

Regarding the G7&#8217;s effort to assist Ukraine in their war against Russia, Johnson seemed hopeful, but added, &#8220;It&#8217;s not going to be easy. I&#8217;m not going to pretend that this can be done quickly.&#8221;
&#8220;I think what was so striking from the conversations is that people really do want to give the Ukrainians strategic endurance,&#8221; he continued.
&#8220;We can&#8217;t be more Ukrainian than the Ukraine, right?  You know, it&#8217;s for them to decide but they want to help Zelensky to get in the best possible position to talk if and when talks eventually come,&#8221; Johnson said regarding peace talks to end the war.
The G7 is also reportedly pursuing a cap on Russian <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/oil-and-gas">oil</a> prices to help blunt Putin&#8217;s financial strength.
Members of the <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/g7">G7</a> are meeting in Austria to discuss the <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/russia">Russian</a> invasion of Ukraine, as well as climate change and public health. In one background <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/press-briefings/2022/06/27/background-press-call-by-a-senior-administration-official-on-president-bidens-second-day-in-germany/">press call</a>, a senior Biden administration official announced that G7 leaders would “set a global price cap for Russian oil in shipments” to countries outside of the seven nations, which include Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Canada, and the United States.
“The goal here is to starve Russia — starve Putin of his main source of cash and force down the price of Russian oil to help blunt the impact of Putin’s war at the pump,” the official said. “The dual objectives of G7 leaders have been to take direct aim at Putin’s revenues, particularly through energy, but also to minimize the spillovers and the impact on the G7 economies and the rest of the world.”
