A union representing nearly 20,000 Border Patrol agents on Monday declared its support for President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;big, beautiful bill,&#8221; hailing the legislation as an “investment” in America’s border security.
“The men and women of the National Border Patrol Council are proud to announce our support for the House One Big Beautiful Bill,” the group&#8217;s president, Paul Perez, told The Daily Wire. “This legislation provides a once in a generation investment in the border security of our great country and will make America safer.”
The legislation not only modifies the tax code, but also provides funding that would allow Customs and Border Protection to expand its operations.
“This legislation provides for thousands of new patrol vehicles, the hiring of thousands of additional Border Patrol Agents, and improves retention and recruitment by using incentives and protecting benefits, along with unprecedented investments in physical infrastructure, such as roads along our borders,” Perez added. “The NBPC has no doubt this legislation will greatly help us to do our jobs more safely and effectively.”
Funding for physical infrastructure, the Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee say, would <a href="https://homeland.house.gov/2025/04/27/house-homeland-security-committee-releases-text-for-budget-reconciliation-recommendations/">support</a> the construction of “701 miles of primary wall, construction of 900 miles of river barriers, 629 miles of secondary barriers, and replacement of 141 miles of vehicle and pedestrian barriers.”
The White House <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/05/one-big-beautiful-bill-is-a-once-in-a-generation-chance/">adds</a> that the funding will support “at least one million annual removals” of illegal aliens and the hiring of 10,000 new Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel.
The House Judiciary Committee <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/big-beautiful-border-security">says</a> the funding would allow ICE to expand its capacity and allow it to detain 100,000 illegal aliens at any given time.
Beyond funding Border Patrol, ICE, and border wall construction, the legislation also takes other steps to discourage illegal immigration. If passed, the bill would impose a 5% tax on money sent out of the country by illegal aliens and non-citizens.
Experts told The Daily Wire that the tax on such transactions would <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-new-tax-on-money-sent-abroad-could-dry-up-drug-cartel-cash-and-penalize-illegal-immigration?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=This+New+Tax+Could+Stop+Illegal+Immigration+And+Keep+Money+From+Cartels">penalize</a> illegal immigration and cut into the cash flows that are sent to the Mexican drug cartels.
“Placing a fee on remittances is crucial because the more money that is smuggled back into Mexico, the stronger the cartels become,” Ira Mehlman, the Media Director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, told The Daily Wire.
Trump’s bill would also kick an estimated 1.4 million illegal aliens off of Medicaid, the government-funded healthcare program. The legislation, the Trump White House <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/05/one-big-beautiful-bill-is-a-once-in-a-generation-chance/">says</a>, “eliminates waste, fraud, and abuse by ending benefits” for illegal aliens “who are gaming the system.”

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem slammed a Democrat congressman over his advocacy for a deported illegal alien, charging that he has set out to “fight for a terrorist” instead of the people he was elected to represent.
Noem and Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) got into a heated spat during a meeting of the House Homeland Security Committee Wednesday morning, in which the Democrat advocated for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old deported Salvadoran illegal alien with suspected ties to MS-13 who is believed to have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/police-suspected-maryland-man-of-getting-paid-to-traffic-illegals-body-cam-footage-shows?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=5&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Police+Suspected+%E2%80%98Maryland+Man%E2%80%99+Of+%E2%80%98Getting+Paid%E2%80%99+To+Traffic+Illegals%2C+Body+Cam+Footage+Shows">engaged</a> in human smuggling. Earlier this year, the Trump administration designated the MS-13 gang as a foreign terrorist organization.
Goldman pressed Noem on DHS’s deportation of Abrego Garcia and the agency’s response to a Supreme Court order requiring the government to “facilitate” the return of the illegal alien from his home country of El Salvador back to the United States, despite not being a citizen or legal resident of America.
“What steps have you taken to return Mr. Abrego Garcia to allow him to get due process?” Goldman asked Noem, who explained that “Abrego Garcia is in his home country” before being interrupted by the congressman.
“It&#8217;s got to be extremely discouraging to be one of your constituents,&#8221; Noem continued. &#8220;To see you fight for a terrorist like this and not fight for them is extremely alarming to me, and I’m sure it is to them as well.”
Goldman’s advocacy for Abrego Garcia, who allegedly bragged that he could <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-darling-maryland-mans-wife-he-bragged-he-could-kill-me-and-get-away-with-it">murder his wife</a> and get away with it, comes after Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-senator-headed-to-el-salvador-on-mission-to-bring-gang-member-back-to-america">flew to El Salvador</a> to visit the illegal alien.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) blasted Goldman after his exchange with Noem, charging that “there is nothing Democrats love more than defending the cartels, the criminals, and the rapists.”
Greene and Goldman faced off earlier in the hearing after the Democrat objected to Greene’s request to file a post from Attorney General Pam Bondi highlighting Abrego’s alleged MS-13 ties in the Congressional record. Greene laid out the various entities that established Abrego’s ties to the criminal gang in response to Goldman’s unsuccessful attempt to keep the post from Bondi out of the Congressional Record.
“A Maryland County Police Gang Unit agreed that he is MS-13, a reliable confidential informant agreed that he is MS-13,” Greene noted. “ICE officers agreed that he is MS-13, an immigration judge agreed that he is MS-13, an appellate board agreed that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, your Maryland man, is MS-13.”

Each year, migrants send tens of billions of dollars out of the United States — often landing in cartel coffers.
That may be good for migrants and drug lords, but it&#8217;s bad for the American economy. That&#8217;s why Congress is considering a new tax on money flowing out of the country. Advocates say the tax would penalize illegal immigration, impose new costs on criminal networks, and increase government revenue, all without impacting Americans&#8217; wallets.
Remittance outflows from the United States — when migrants send money back to their countries of origin — have steadily increased in recent years. <a href="https://www.migrationpolicy.org/programs/data-hub/global-remittances-guide">Data</a> from the Migration Policy Institute reveal that just over $66 billion was sent out of the American economy in 2020. That number climbed to $73.7 billion in 2021 and $81.6 billion in 2022. By 2023, remittance outflows hit nearly $86 billion.
Now, a five percent remittance tax, which is included in President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trumps-one-big-beautiful-bill-gets-no-tax-on-tips-and-overtime">big, beautiful bill</a>,&#8221; could penalize illegal immigration, punish cartels, and create a new revenue stream for the American government.
Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) Media Director Ira Mehlman told The Daily Wire that a tax on remittances would recoup some of the money that is, in effect, exported out of the American economy.
“Many illegal aliens are working off-the-books, and therefore, no payroll taxes have been collected. Taxing the money as it leaves the country would be a way to recoup some of that revenue loss,” Mehlman said. “Even in cases where the money earned is being taxed, large-scale transfers of money to other countries have a negative impact on the American economy. Remittances essentially export money from our economy.”
“That is money that is not being spent locally, generating revenues such as sales tax, or creating new jobs in local economies,” he added.
But migrants transferring money to family members in their home countries aren’t the only ones sending money out of the American economy. Mehlman warned that cartels are known to launder drug money back to Mexico, allowing the transnational criminal enterprises to fund their smuggling operations.
He cited one Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/mexico-drugs-remittances/">investigation</a> that found that the Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation Cartels recruited Mexican citizens and illegal aliens in the United States to launder the illicit funds, and that cartel drug money could make up 10 percent of all remittances to Mexico. The increase in total remittances, the investigation says, has allowed the laundered funds to blend in and fly under the radar.
“Placing a fee on remittances is crucial because the more money that is smuggled back into Mexico, the stronger the cartels become,” Mehlman told The Daily Wire.
So far, Oklahoma is the only state that has implemented a remittance fee. The state charges a 1% fee on wire transfers out of the country. State residents who pay their income tax are reimbursed for any fees they incur by wiring money through a tax credit. But those who do not pay taxes, including many illegal aliens, receive no such reimbursement, allowing the state to pull in <a href="https://cis.org/North/Oklahoma-Again-Reports-Increase-Taxes-Wired-Remittances">over $10 million</a> a year.
Congressman Kevin Hern (R-OK) <a href="https://hern.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=638">introduced</a> a federal bill modeled after his state’s legislation during the 2022 legislative session. He <a href="https://hern.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=886">reintroduced</a> his bill in 2023, with the support of then-Senator JD Vance, who introduced an accompanying bill in the upper chamber. The legislation would have imposed a 5% charge on outgoing wire transfers, and directed the proceeds to be used for border security measures. The bill similarly offered tax credits for those who paid the fee, allowing taxpayers to receive reimbursement.
Hern, who serves as the Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, told The Daily Wire that the legislative effort was an attempt to employ “every avenue available to target cartel activity and keep our people safe.”
“The cash flow from illegal immigrants in the States to their cartel partners in Mexico, Venezuela, and other countries is massive,” Hern said to The Daily Wire. It’s a two-fold win: remittance fees will help slow down the flow of those dollars to the cartels and will also create a new revenue source we can use to build the wall and secure our border.”
If Trump&#8217;s budget bill is passed as written, anyone sending money out of the country would have to pay a 5% tax. The only untaxed remittances would be those sent through a qualified transfer provider, which would be required to prove to the United States government that it authenticates the citizenship status of senders. American citizens who incur a tax on remittance payments would receive a refund in the form of a tax credit, just as Oklahomans do under current state law.
A remittance tax has also garnered the support of the America First Policy Institute, which <a href="https://americafirstpolicy.com/issues/state-legislative-priority-international-wire-transfer-fees2">says </a>that the measure “deters illegal immigration and trafficking networks.”
“Imposing a fee on outgoing wire transfers makes it less desirable for illegal aliens or smuggling and trafficking networks to remain in the state,” the group wrote in a policy brief. The organization also touted a fee on remittances as an effective tool to recoup lost tax revenue.
“In many instances, the wages illegal aliens receive working unlawfully in the country is untaxed income which financially harms states. Illegal aliens also may consume other state benefits like education for their children and medical care without paying into the system,” America First Policy Institute asserted. “This fee partially recoups some of the lost state revenue caused by illegal immigration in the state.”
Mehlman explained that the policy would be most effective at discouraging illegal immigration if it is paired with a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-one-simple-trick-that-could-lead-illegal-immigrants-to-self-deport?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=27&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=The+One+Simple+Trick+That+Could+Lead+Illegal+Immigrants+To+Self-Deport">national E-Verify mandate</a>, which would seek to prevent illegal aliens from gaining employment in the United States.
“The biggest incentive to illegal immigration is the ability to work here at a higher wage and send money home to family members,” he explained.
“The problem has been powerful business lobbies that have fought mandatory E-Verify because illegal immigration has become a source of subsidized labor for them — they get a low-wage worker, similarly skilled American workers lose out on jobs and wages, and everyone else bears the true costs of having large numbers of illegal aliens in our society.”

NASHVILLE — The federal deportation raids in Tennessee that have garnered outrage from local Democrats resulted in the capture of rapists, drug dealers, and gang members, according to a Department of Homeland Security dossier obtained by The Daily Wire.
Nashville&#8217;s Democrat mayor Freddie O&#8217;Connell has <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/nashville-mayor-issues-new-protocol-for-metro-employees-amid-ice-communication-fallout">said</a> he was very &#8220;frustrated&#8221; to see immigration enforcement in the city, stating, &#8220;We did not request this approach to safety, we do not support it.&#8221; In response, he signed an executive order mandating that communications from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) be directed to his office immediately.
His outrage comes with little public information known about the scale about the raid, but The Daily Wire has learned that nearly 200 illegal aliens were captured during the weeklong raids, including rapists, drug dealers, and gang members.
The raids, which ICE carried out in conjunction with local and federal law enforcement partners, began on May 3 and resulted in the arrest of 196 illegal aliens. Of those arrested, 95 had prior criminal convictions or pending criminal charges, while another 31 had reentered the country after being previously removed from the United States, a felony offense, the federal law enforcement agency told The Daily Wire.
“This operation resulted in getting gang members, sex offenders, and other violent criminals off Nashville’s streets,&#8221; Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;President Trump and Secretary Noem will continue to stand with victims and the brave ICE agents who are on the frontlines making America safe again.&#8221;
Here are some of the criminal illegal aliens captured in Nashville:
Jassim Jafaf Al-Raash, a 60-year-old convicted rapist and citizen of Iraq. Al-Raash failed to register as a sex offender following his rape convictions, for which he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Iraqi national was also convicted of false imprisonment and larceny.

ICE also captured Franklin Oswaldo Velasquez-Reyes, a 33-year-old Salvadoran who is affiliated with MS-13, a violent gang that was recently named a foreign terrorist organization by the Trump State Department. El Salvador suspects Velasquez-Reyes of committing aggravated murder and issued a notice requesting foreign governments to locate and arrest Velasquez-Reyes. The Salvadoran national has several criminal convictions, including possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear, and criminal impersonation.

Haitian national Richard St. Baptiste, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. St. Baptiste was also sentenced to 30 days in prison for marijuana possession.

Inmar Antonio Penado-Membreno, a 34-year-old Salvadoran, was sentenced to eight years in prison for possession with intent to manufacture, deliver, and sell cocaine and four years for aggravated assault.

“You would think all public officials would unite around DHS bringing violent criminal illegal aliens to justice and removing them from American communities,&#8221; McLaughlin charged. &#8220;However, pro-open borders politicians — like Mayor O’Connell — would rather protect illegal aliens than American citizens.” 
O&#8217;Connell, Nashville&#8217;s mayor, not only spoke out against the raids, but also put local resources towards helping the illegal immigrant community. He announced the creation of the “belonging fund” to offer monetary support for illegal aliens. The fund will allocate money to non-profit organizations that provide childcare, transportation, and food to illegal aliens, though the money will not be used to provide them with legal assistance.
ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons told The Daily Wire that O’Connell should be thankful for the federal agency’s operations in Nashville.
“Instead of vilifying the brave men and women who ensure his constituents stay safe from criminal alien murderers, drug dealers and rapists, the mayor should be saying thank you to ICE and its partners for taking these public safety threats out of his neighborhoods.”
RJ Hauman, the president of National Immigration Center Enforcement and visiting fellow at the Heritage Foundation, similarly slammed Nashville’s Democrat mayor.
“Sanctuary city mayors keep trying to outdo each other, and Americans are fed up,&#8221; Hauman said. “ICE is stepping up, nabbing serious criminals like child rapists and Tren de Aragua gang members. The American people are behind ICE’s work to kick these threats out and keep our communities safe. Now it’s time for Congress to give them more resources.”
Despite O’Connell’s response to the ICE raids, Nashville’s Legal Director Wally Dietz admitted that the city has no authority to obstruct the operations.
“We are powerless, we have absolutely no authority to instruct ICE not to carry out their enforcement actions,” Dietz explained. “We have no authority to tell THP they cannot cooperate with ICE,” he added, referring to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (R) praised the raids, saying. “No one wants these criminals in their community” and that it was &#8220;a good thing that ICE is rounding them up and deporting them.”

Federal authorities carried out a raid on a massive fentanyl peddling ring in New Mexico that was tied to the Sinaloa Cartel, resulting in the arrest of 16 individuals and the largest fentanyl seizure in American history, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Tuesday.
The raid was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration and other law enforcement partners and resulted in the seizure of 11.5 kilograms of concentrated fentanyl powder, 49 firearms, millions of dollars in cash, luxury vehicles, meth, heroin, cocaine, and nearly “three million pills … laced with fentanyl, labeled as oxycodone,” Attorney General Pam Bondi noted. The shocking amount of fentanyl is enough to kill millions of Americans, with just 2 milligrams being a <a href="https://www.dea.gov/resources/facts-about-fentanyl">lethal dose</a> for adults.

Sixteen people were arrested in the operation, including the leader of the drug smuggling ring, an illegal alien with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, which was designated as a foreign terror organization earlier this year. Six of those arrested in the operation were in the country illegally, Bondi noted.

“We will be hopefully working with them on one soon,” Bondi said in response to Olohan’s question. “But yes, Mexico has been cooperating in the past. I think we extradited 29 here to our country to face charges,” adding that those brought in to face American justice are “some of the top cartel members in our nation’s history.”
Bondi also highlighted the scale of the fentanyl crisis facing America, noting that “75,000 Americans are dying each year because of fentanyl” before adding that the DOJ “will not stop until this poison is off of our streets and out of our country.”
“More seizures are coming, more arrests are coming,” Bondi promised. “I guarantee you that.” The Attorney General noted that the six illegal aliens, including Heriberto Salazar Amaya, the leader with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, will face American justice instead of being deported back to their countries of origin.

The mother of a man who was killed by an illegal alien praised the Trump administration for reopening a government office that supports families of Americans killed by illegals in a Department of Homeland Security first obtained by The Daily Wire.
Maureen Maloney&#8217;s son, Matthew Denice, was killed in 2011 by a drunk driving illegal alien who blew through a stop sign and dragged Denice for a quarter mile. In the video, Maloney remembers her son and praises President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kristi-noem-reopens-ice-office-to-support-families-whove-lost-loved-ones-to-illegal-alien-crime?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=25&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Kristi+Noem+Reopens+ICE+Office+To+Support+Families+Who%E2%80%99ve+Lost+Loved+Ones+To+Illegal+Alien+Crime">reopening</a> the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office, which offers resources and legal aid to families affected by illegal alien crime.
“I’m just thrilled that VOICE has been relaunched and that the people who need the services will be able to get them,” Maloney said. “I, over the years, have known many victim families that’ve utilized the resources of the VOICE office and have felt that it was very beneficial to them.”
Trump established the VOICE Office in 2017. In June 2021, President Joe Biden shuttered the office and replaced it with the Victims Engagement and Services Line, which also allowed illegal immigrants to report crimes to ICE. At the time, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas <a href="https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-launches-victims-engagement-and-services-line-vesl">praised</a> the change, saying, &#8220;All people, regardless of their immigration status, should be able to access victim services without fear.&#8221;

Maloney says in the video that her son&#8217;s death was particularly tragic because it could have been prevented by stronger immigration enforcement.
“To find out that the person who took your child’s life was in the country illegally, and this could have been prevented, it makes you angry,” Maloney said while recounting the several run-ins with the law that the illegal alien had prior to taking the life of her son. “Matthew’s death was totally preventable.”
“He was an extrovert, everybody loved Matthew. He was voted the most dependable in high school,” Maloney said. “Matthew wanted to be a police officer, he wanted a large family.” Matthew’s stepfather, Mike Maloney, added that “he was a great human being. A great son, a great kid.”
“Far too many American lives have been lost because of illegal aliens driving drunk,&#8221; Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin told The Daily Wire. “These Americans killed by drunk-driving illegal aliens should still be with us today, and we feel their absence in our schools and offices, at our dinner tables, and throughout our communities.”
Alex Wise Jr., a 10-year-old boy, was struck and killed by an illegal alien in Texas earlier this year. The driver was <a href="https://www.ntd.com/10-year-old-texan-dead-after-hit-and-run-involving-repeat-illegal-immigrant_973876.html">captured</a> by police and charged with drunk driving. Two 19-year-olds, Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin, were killed by another <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/04/23/us-news/illegal-immigrant-who-killed-young-couple-while-driving-drunk-could-be-set-free-after-serving-just-a-third-of-10-year-sentence/">drunk-driving illegal alien</a> in California in 2021. A mother and her 16-year-old son lost their lives when a drunk illegal alien who had been deported four different times <a href="https://thenationaldesk.com/news/americas-news-now/illegal-immigrant-deported-four-times-accused-of-killing-woman-son-in-colorado-dui-case-southern-border-biden-impeachment-jose-guadalupe-menjivar-alas-el-salvador-latin-america">caused a crash</a> in Colorado.
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have reopened the VOICE Office to serve all victims of illegal alien crime and their families,” McLaughlin noted.

An Illegal Immigrant Killed Her Son. She’s Grateful Trump Is Working To Help Families Like Hers.

The Trump administration is taking a major step to super-charge deportation efforts by deputizing law enforcement across the country to carry out immigration enforcement, a Department of Homeland Security memo exclusively reviewed by The Daily Wire reveals.
The memo lays out that DHS has signed 598 agreements with state and local law enforcement groups, taking advantage of a <a href="https://www.ice.gov/287g">federal law</a> that allows the agencies to enforce certain aspects of immigration law. While these sorts of agreements existed in the previous administration, the number of agreements signed since Trump took office is already a 316% increase from what was signed during four years of the Biden administration, the memo says.
The agreements could be one of the biggest keys to boosting deportation numbers, which members of the administration have <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/05/us/politics/trump-immigration-deportations-arrests.html">reportedly</a> grown frustrated with. With an estimated <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-alien-population-surges-to-record-high-bombshell-study-finds">18.6 million illegal aliens</a> currently present in the United States and a judiciary that has continuously stonewalled the Trump administration&#8217;s attempts to deport illegal aliens, the federal government may otherwise struggle to remove a significant share of the illegal population without support from law enforcement partners.
Under the agreement, state and local law enforcement agencies are able to conduct immigration enforcement operations with ICE oversight, use federal immigration databases to identify the status of arrestees, and initiate ICE detainers to hold illegal aliens until ICE can gain custody of them, providing what could be a massive force multiplier in the Trump administration’s effort to deport at least <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/04/12/one-million-deportations-goal/">one million</a> illegal aliens per year.
The administration says its collaboration with state and local law enforcement is yielding results.
“Since January 20, our partnerships with state and local law enforcement have led to over 1,100 arrests of dangerous criminal illegal aliens,” the Homeland Security memo says. “ICE has also trained over 5,000 officers across the country to help track down and arrest criminal illegal aliens in their communities.”
One far-left organization <a href="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/grants/past?filter_keyword=immigrant+legal+resource+center">backed</a> by George Soros&#8217;s Open Society Foundations <a href="https://www.ilrc.org/practitioners/national-map-287g-agreements">complained</a> that these agreements “are designed to extend the reach of the Trump deportation machine.” Now, they’re proving to be an effective force multiplier for the Trump administration as it seeks to enforce federal immigration law.
One of these agreements resulted in Operation Tidal Wave, a first-of-its-kind joint immigration enforcement effort from Homeland Security and Florida.

“In just six days, 1,120 criminal illegal aliens were arrested, including dozens of rapists, murderers, drug traffickers, and MS-13 members,” the DHS asserts in its memo. “This resounding success is a preview of what is to come: Effective and efficient coordination at all levels of law enforcement to remove illegal aliens.”
State and local law enforcement agencies that do not sign onto an agreement with DHS are much more limited in how they can support the federal agency in its immigration enforcement campaign. While the agencies can comply with ICE detainer requests so long as they are not in a sanctuary jurisdiction, agencies that haven&#8217;t signed an agreement don&#8217;t have access to the federal immigration database and are unable to initiate the ICE detainers.
“America is no longer a sanctuary for criminal aliens,” the memo says, before adding a message for illegal aliens. “We will find you. We will hunt you down. We will deport you. And you will never come back.”

EXCLUSIVE: Trump Makes Move To Super-Charge Deportations Using Local Cops

A Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer said that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the illegal alien who was deported to a Salvadoran prison by the Trump administration over his MS-13 ties, was likely engaged in human trafficking in a newly released body camera video.
The illegal alien, infamously and inaccurately referred to as a “Maryland man,” was pulled over by Tennessee Highway Patrol Officers in 2022 after the law enforcement agents suspected that he could be smuggling people.
One officer is heard in the body camera footage saying that Abrego Garcia was “hauling these people for money.” Abrego Garcia, who was driving a car with eight other people in it, had an invalid Maryland driver’s license, while none of the other men had licenses.
“He’s getting paid to haul these people, probably to Maryland, I would say,” the officer said of Abrego Garcia, who changed his story during his interaction with the law enforcement agents. “Sometimes they come in with dope,” the officer added, while a different member of the Tennessee Highway Patrol pointed out that the vehicle Abrego Garcia was driving appeared to have an extra row of seats added to it.

The illegal alien first told law enforcement that he and the other men were “going back to work” in St. Louis, Missouri, where the men worked construction. Later in the encounter, Abrego Garcia said he was going to Maryland, where he lived, but that he and the other men would then return to St. Louis, Missouri, for a construction job. Abrego Garcia also said that he was driving his boss’ car from Houston, Texas.
The law enforcement officers asked Abrego to sit in the back of their patrol car, but did not handcuff him. The officers called the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), one source <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/tennessee-bodycam-maryland-man-traffic-stop-shows-troopers-hands-tied-despite-smuggling-clues">told</a> Fox News, but they did not receive a response from ICE and were advised by the Biden-era FBI not to detain Abrego Garcia despite their suspicion that he was trafficking illegal aliens.
The footage emerged after Abrego Garcia was sent to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center, a massive prison designed for members of criminal gangs like MS-13 and Barrio 18. His deportation became a political flashpoint, with Democrat politicians <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/more-democratic-lawmakers-visit-el-salvador-to-see-abrego-garcia-wrongly-deported-by-trump-administration">traveling</a> to the Central American country to visit the illegal alien and call for his return to the United States.
Newly released <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-darling-maryland-mans-wife-he-bragged-he-could-kill-me-and-get-away-with-it">court documents</a> indicate that Abrego Garcia bragged that he could murder his wife and get away with it. “Me and my kids are afraid now. He kicked me, pushed me, slapped me in the face and threatened me,” the illegal alien’s wife said, according to the document. “I also have a [recording] that [he] told my ex-mother-in-law that even if he kills me no one can do anything to him.”
The Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration has to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return to the United States, but Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-officials-bukele-tear-into-cnn-reporter-who-asked-if-illegal-alien-will-be-returned-to-u-s?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=19&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Officials%2C+Bukele+Tear+Into+CNN+Reporter+Who+Asked+If+Illegal+Alien+Will+Be+Returned+To+U.S.">quashed</a> any speculation that he would send the man back to the United States in a meeting at the oval office last month. “The question is preposterous, how can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States?”

Illegal aliens cost Texas hospitals more than $100 million in just a single month, brand new data from the Lone Star State shows.
Texas hospitals are on the hook for a $121.8 million bill incurred by illegal aliens across 31,000 visits in November 2024 alone, according to data collected by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (THHSC).
The findings came after Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an order directing THHSC to collect and provide quarterly data on the cost of illegal aliens to the state’s hospitals and the number of visits from illegal aliens. The first full year of data from THHSCC will be released in January 2026.
“Many of these illegal immigrants are straining the Texas hospital system, which is why <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/category/person/greg-abbott">Governor Abbott</a> directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to begin assessing the cost of care,” Abbott Press Secretary Andrew Mahaleris <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-hospitals-hit-122-million-bill-illegal-immigrants-care-single-month">explained</a>.
&#8220;Now, Texas has reliable data on the dramatic financial impact that illegal immigration is having on our hospital system,” Mahaleris noted, also adding that President Donald Trump’s deportation operations “may also cause these healthcare costs to decline.”
The Texas Legislature is currently <a href="https://www.fox26houston.com/news/texas-hospitals-migrants-illegal-costs-nov-2024">considering legislation</a> that would turn Abbott&#8217;s order into a state law requiring hospitals to provide the data to the THHSCC.
One <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigration-costs-hospitals-billions-in-unpaid-bills-house-gop-report-finds">2023 report</a> from Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee found that illegal aliens similarly burdened the hospital systems of other states with large illegal alien populations. Florida hospitals incurred a $312 million bill because of illegal aliens in fiscal year 2023 and received just over $100 million in reimbursements. A single hospital in the border town of Yuma, Arizona, provided $26 million in uncompensated care to illegal aliens.
That report estimated that Texas hospitals faced anywhere from $597 million to $717 million in uncompensated health care costs for illegal aliens from 2006 to 2008.
One study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/taxpayers-shell-out-151-billion-each-year-due-to-illegal-immigration-analysis-says">estimated</a> that illegal aliens cost the United States a total of $150 billion a year, even when factoring in tax revenue from illegal aliens. The cost of illegal immigration on the United States, FAIR says, has increased by billions of dollars in recent years.

The White House has placed roughly 100 posters of deported illegal aliens and their various criminal offenses in plain view of the White House lawn to highlight the administration’s efforts to secure the border and deport illegal aliens, prioritizing individuals with particularly serious criminal histories.
&#8220;I started in Border Patrol in 1984,” Border Czar Tom Homan <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1916837072322638274">said</a> in a White House press conference on Monday. “I&#8217;ve been at this for over 40 years. I&#8217;ve worked for six presidents. &#8230; Joe Biden was the first president in the history of this nation who came into office and unsecured the border on purpose. … Now, President Trump and this administration, the success is unprecedented … border numbers are at historic lows.”
Border crossings have dropped dramatically since Trump took office – according to the Department of Homeland Security, encounters at the border have fallen by 95%. Members of the administration credit the close collaboration of several departments, including the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security for the rapid turnaround.

Topline: Democratic lawmakers are stepping up their rhetoric against President Trump, with one presidential frontrunner being accused of inciting violence against Republicans.
Following the election, the big question for lawmakers on the Left was whether they should work to find common ground with Donald Trump and Republicans or oppose their every move. Polling shows the majority of the party’s voters now support the fight Trump approach, and lawmakers on the Left seem to be listening. This week, Illinois Governor JD Pritzker turned heads at a speech to Democrats in New Hampshire.
 “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption, but I am now,” Pritzker said. “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace!”
At this point, that’s basically boilerplate rhetoric from the far-Left, but it’s a bit of a surprise coming from Governor Pritzker, a billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotel empire who’s generally been considered more of a mainstream, establishment Democrat. In a sign that he’s looking to shake that label and prove his progressive credentials, Pritzker had a clear message for moderate Democrats who’ve taken the common-ground approach with Trump. “Do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on our defense of black people and trans kids and immigrants instead of their own lack of guts and gumption.”
“The Democrats have no plan, no vision, and no leader,” Congresswoman Lisa McClain, chair of the House Republican Conference, told Morning Wire. “And when you can’t beat us on the issues, you have to personalize it. … they can’t debate the issues because they’re on the wrong side of the issues.”
Some Democrats are urging the party to take a more unifying approach – notably California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has invited Right-leaning guests on his podcast and walked back some of his previous statements on gender issues. The problem for Newsom and other Democrats pushing that strategy is that they were on the record for years saying the exact opposite, so they now run the risk of looking like flip-floppers to moderates, and sellouts to progressives, who are the loudest contingent on the Left.
One silver lining for Democrats is that President Trump’s <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/approval/donald-trump/approval-rating#google_vignette">approval rating</a> has taken a hit in recent weeks. Three polls from ABC, CNN, and The New York Times all show him at 42 or 43% — 12 to 14 points underwater. His biggest hit has come from his handling of the economy — an issue where he’s typically been most popular. CBS has him down to 42% approval on the economy &#8212; that’s a ten point dip in the last two months. NBC has him at 40%, and Washington Post shows him with just 39%. If those numbers don’t improve, Republicans could be facing an uphill battle in the midterms — the big question is if Democrats can unify and capitalize, or whether their divisions will lead to another crushing defeat.

Topline: Federal judges stepped in and blocked several of President Trump’s executive orders last week. The court orders targeted Trump’s moves on elections, immigration, and his efforts to reform the federal government.
Last week, the Trump administration suffered several high-profile setbacks in the courts. On Tuesday, a judge in the D.C. Circuit ordered Trump to reinstate Voice of America employees while his order to deconstruct VoA and other federally-funded outlets moves forward. On Wednesday, a federal judge in Maryland ordered the Trump administration to seek the return of a second deported migrant – a 20-year-old Venezuelan national who was deported to El Salvador after he was convicted of drug charges earlier this year.
Then on Thursday, that same judge in Maryland blocked some of the Department of Education’s anti-DEI efforts. The judge said that the department’s guidance to universities to scrap DEI programs or risk losing federal funds violated the First Amendment. Another federal judge in D.C. blocked parts of Trump’s order on federal election reform – specifically parts that required a voter to prove citizenship in order to register for federal elections. That same day, a federal judge in California blocked the administration from withholding funds from cities it deemed “sanctuary” jurisdictions that refuse to work with deportation enforcement. Finally, to end the week, a federal judge in D.C. blocked the administration from banning unions across dozens of federal agencies.
Vice President JD Vance called it a “pattern” that “is not consistent with the Constitution.” As he explained on X, the “Biden administration does something the American people elected Donald Trump to undo,” but then a “lawless district court judge substitutes his policy preferences for the will of the people.” The administration is clearly frustrated with how these cases are playing out in court, and how consistently judges issue these sweeping orders that in many cases go way beyond whatever question the plaintiff sued over to begin with.
Meanwhile two judges have been <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-announces-two-cases-involving-judicial-misconduct-and-obstruction-law">arrested on charges of obstruction of justice</a> after aiding and abetting illegal aliens in their attempts to evade immigration authorities.
<a href="https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1915826498533310904">According to</a> Attorney General Pam Bondi, Judge Hannah Dugan of Wisconsin snuck a defendant, who had illegally entered the United States in 2013 and was facing charges of domestic violence, out of her courtroom when she learned ICE was outside waiting to pick him up. Former Judge Jose Luis Cano and his wife were arrested after allegedly sheltering a fugitive member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which has been designated as a foreign terrorist organization. Cano and his wife were also charged with evidence tampering – according to the federal affidavit, Cano attempted to scrub the social media account of an alien tenant living on his property and went so far as to smash a cell phone with a hammer to prevent police from accessing its contents.

Border czar Tom Homan said Monday that Joe Biden was the first president in history to intentionally leave the border unsecured.
Homan made the comments at a White House briefing to discuss border enforcement during President Donald Trump&#8217;s first hundred days. Homan said that under Trump, unlawful crossings were &#8220;historically low&#8221; and that the border was the most secure it has ever been, in contrast to the record number of illegal immigrants that entered the United States under the Biden administration.
&#8220;Every president I ever worked for took border security seriously because you can&#8217;t have national security if you don&#8217;t have strong border security,&#8221; Homan said. &#8220;Even President Obama and President Clinton took some steps to secure the border because they understood national security was important. Joe Biden is the first president in the history of this nation who came into office and unsecured a border on purpose. That&#8217;s just a fact.&#8221;
He later said that Biden&#8217;s immigration policies were motivated by the desire that a future Democratic president would give illegal immigrants released into the country amnesty, saying Biden was &#8220;selling this country off for future political power.&#8221;

Contrasting Biden and Trump, Homan said that between 11,000-15,000 people were crossing the border illegally per day this time of the year under Biden, while under Trump, just 178 had crossed in the last 24 hours. During the same time, he said there were 1,800 known &#8220;gotaways&#8221; under Biden, compared to just 38 under Trump. Homan added that from January 20 to April 1, 2024, Biden released 184,000 illegals out of federal custody into the country. The Trump administration has only released nine total, including four so they could testify in criminal cases and four with extreme medical conditions.
In total, Homan said that there have been 139,000 deportations under Trump. He added that the administration was prioritizing the estimated 700,000 illegals who have been charged with crimes. The Trump administration on Monday placed signs on the White House lawn featuring mugshots of deported illegals arrested over crimes like rape and murder.

During the briefing, Homan also weighed in on the arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan on Friday over allegations that she helped an illegal immigrant from Mexico evade ICE.
&#8220;You don&#8217;t have to support ICE&#8217;s operations. You can support sanctuary cities if that&#8217;s what you desire to do. Sanctuary cities can stand aside and watch ICE keep their communities safe,&#8221; Homan said. &#8220;When you cross that line to impediment or knowingly harboring and concealing an illegal alien from ICE, you will be prosecuted, judge or not.&#8221;

The United States endured a never-before-seen surge in illegal immigration under President Joe Biden, watching as hordes of migrants <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/22/opinion/el-paso-border-rush-video-shows-damage-open-borders-joe-has-done/">charged border barriers</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/what-has-my-town-become-springfield-residents-say-its-falling-apart-amid-haitian-influx">towns</a> across the country were reshaped virtually overnight by mass migration.
The issue, perhaps more than any other, propelled President Donald Trump to victory in the 2024 election. And in the first 100 days of his second administration, the president has slashed border crossings to a fraction of what they were just months ago.

Customs and Border Protection data recorded <a href="https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/nationwide-encounters">over 11 million</a> illegal alien encounters nationwide under the Biden administration — <a href="https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/southwest-land-border-encounters">roughly 9 million</a> of which took place at the southern border. By May of Biden’s last year in office, federal data showed that 1.7 million illegal alien <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/05/16/us-news/1-7-million-gotaways-have-sneaked-into-us-under-biden-data/">&#8220;gotaways&#8221;</a> entered the country.
Illegal immigration was so dramatic under Biden that the foreign-born population surged to a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/foreign-born-population-surges-to-new-high-with-illegal-immigration-driving-increase-report-finds">new high</a> of 53 million. Two-thirds of the growth of the foreign-born population during the Biden presidency is estimated to be due to illegal immigration. There are approximately <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-alien-population-surges-to-record-high-bombshell-study-finds">18.6 million illegal aliens</a> currently present in the United States, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
But the situation on the southern border changed drastically after Trump&#8217;s inauguration.
“From Jan. 21 through Jan. 31, the number of U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions along the southwest border dropped 85% from the same period in 2024,” the White House <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/02/illegal-border-crossings-plummeted-in-january/">pointed out</a> in a press release, citing ABC News.
The Trump administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-celebrates-steep-drop-in-illegal-border-crossings?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=75&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Admin+Celebrates+Steep+Drop+In+Illegal+Border+Crossings">recorded a 93 percent drop</a> in illegal border crossings in the eleven days after Trump&#8217;s inauguration. The decline proved to be even more precipitous by March, when Vice President JD Vance visited the southern border and boasted of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/vance-does-victory-lap-at-border-all-it-took-was-a-new-president?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=55&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Vance+Does+Victory+Lap+At+Border%3A+%E2%80%98All+It+Took+Was+A+New+President%E2%80%99">98 percent reduction</a> in border crossings.
The rapid drop in border crossings came after Trump announced and implemented sweeping changes to immigration policy. Upon taking office, Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/01/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-declares-a-national-emergency-at-the-southern-border/">declared</a> a national emergency at the southern border, ordering the Secretary of Defense to deploy troops to the border and for border wall construction to resume.
By early March, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/01/us/politics/military-border-immigration.html">roughly 9,000</a> active-duty soldiers were at the southern border.
One of Trump&#8217;s most consequential policy changes was the <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/trump-administration-reinstating-remain-mexico-program-2025-01-21/">reinstatement</a> of the Remain in Mexico policy, which requires migrants to stay in Mexico while their asylum claims are processed.
It&#8217;s a departure from the Biden administration&#8217;s catch-and-release policy, which allowed asylum seekers to enter the United States and live and work in the country while their claims are processed. Some migrants freed into the country under Biden were given court dates in <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/05/11/migrants-admitted-to-us-given-2035-immigration-court-dates/">2035.</a>
Trump also immediately <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/realigning-the-united-states-refugee-admissions-program/">suspended</a> the Refugee Admissions Program and halted <a href="https://cis.org/Bensman/Government-Admission-Biden-Parole-Flights-Create-Security-Vulnerabilities-US-Airports">flights of migrants</a> from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and Ecuador, which the Biden administration used to streamline more than 300,000 migrants into the interior of the United States.
In March, the Trump administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-transforms-bidens-cbp-one-app-leave-now-and-self-deport">repurposed</a> an online application that the Biden administration used to bring hundreds of thousands of migrants into the interior of the country. Formerly called CBP One, the Biden administration used the app to let migrants remotely schedule asylum appointments. It has since been renamed CBP Home, and allows migrants to alert the government of their “intent to depart” the United States.
Trump’s Department of Homeland Security even launched an <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/03/15/dhs-launches-international-ad-campaign-warning-illegal-aliens-self-deport-and-stay">international advertising campaign</a> warning would-be illegal aliens not to attempt to enter the United States.
“If you are a criminal alien considering entering America illegally: Don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says in the ads, which have been broadcast on television, radio, social media, and even through targeted text messages.
The effects of Trump’s immigration policies weren’t just seen at the southern border. They&#8217;ve even been noticed by Latin American countries like Colombia, which watched as caravans of migrants traveled through it on their way to the United States.

Colombia attributed the decline to “the change in U.S. immigration policy” under Trump.
