Bill Murray revealed the movie role he still regrets not taking to this day, and it was one that Clint Eastwood offered him.
Speaking on “The Howard Stern Show” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icsyXWwO0DI">podcast</a>, the 74-year-old actor was asked by Stern if he’s “ever watched a film and said I want to act with this guy so bad?”
The “Ghostbusters” star said definitely, and then shared that he was once offered a role in what turned out to be Eastwood’s 1986 military movie “Heartbreak Ridge,” The <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/bill-murray-regrets-turning-down-clint-eastwood-movie-heartbreak-ridge/?via=twitter_page&amp;utm_campaign=owned_social&amp;utm_source=twitter_owned_tdb&amp;utm_medium=socialflow">Daily Beast</a> reported.
“A long time ago I was watching the Clint Eastwood movies of the day, like ‘Thunderbolt and Lightfoot’ or whatever the hell movies he was making then,” Murray responded, “and I thought: ‘His sidekick gets killed, and he avenges, but the sidekick gets like a great part, a great death scene.&#8217;”

“I was like, I got to call this guy,” he added. “So I called him out of the blue, and he said, ‘Would you ever want to do another service comedy?’ Because I just made ‘Stripes’ and he had this great idea for an enormous Navy thing.”
“And when he said, ‘Would you ever want to do another service comedy?’ like jeez, ‘Would I become like Abbott and Costello?&#8217; I had to do like military movies? And I said, ‘Well, God, I guess maybe I shouldn’t,’” Murray continued.
Even after all these years, the “Groundhog Day” star said when he sees Eastwood, he still mentions to him how he should’ve taken it.
“But it’s one of the few regrets I have is that I didn’t do it,” Murray said. “Because it was a big-scale thing, and I would have gotten a great – I don’t know if I’d have gotten a great death scene, it was more of a comedy, that one – but it was great. He had access to World War II boats and he could have like, made a flotilla and stuff, and there was some cool stuff in it.”
“And when I see him, I’m like: ‘I’m sorry, I wish I’d done that, Clint, I’m really sorry,&#8217;” he added. “He’s certainly well over it. He’s a very resilient fella.”
During his appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, Murray talked about the early days of his career on “Saturday Night Live” and disagreed with others who&#8217;ve said that the late-night sketch comedy is just not as good as it once was, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-murray-insists-snl-is-just-as-funny-as-it-used-to-be-regardless-of-what-fans-think">reported</a>.

At the time, the actor also said he would “certainly” come back to help celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary in 2025, which he eventually did in February.
“It was surprisingly emotional,” the movie star shared after his appearance on the show, per the “Today” <a href="https://www.today.com/popculture/tv/bill-murray-snl50-special-rcna195105" target="_blank" rel="noopener">show</a>. “I wept three times in the show. Yeah, it really got to me.”

Comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray">Bill Murray</a> insists that the sketch comedy show “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/saturday-night-live">Saturday Night Live</a>” is still funny, despite many viewers voicing their disagreement lately.
The “Ghostbusters” star, once a regular on the show, discussed his thoughts on a recent episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
“People always give me a hard time about, ‘Oh, the original show was so great and it’s lousy now,’” Murray said, per <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/bill-murray-defends-snl-cast-critics-lousy-1236236995/">Variety.</a> “And I say, ‘No, it’s not.’ The show that’s on now, they do stuff that’s just as good as anybody ever did, all the time.”
The actor also said he would “certainly” come back to help celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary next year, the outlet noted.
“I told ‘em I’d like to host one this year. So maybe if I get organized,&#8221; said Murray. &#8220;I think I did it two other times when I was there. I’d like to try it one more time. It might be the last time to try it.”
The “What About Bob?” actor also revealed who he thought the best host of the show was. “There’s only one that stands above all others,” Murray said. “It was Ray Charles. [He] completely buries every other entertainer I’ve ever met or worked with or read about.”

He went on, “Ray Charles knew all his lines cold. Ray Charles came in and played solo, he played with The Raelettes, he played with his scepter and he played with the ‘Saturday Night Live’ orchestra. And he may have played with his quintet as well. And he killed and murdered every single one of [his performances].”
“At the end of that show, they play that song and saxophones playing and you’re like ‘Hey man I had a great week,’” Murray said. “You’re up there on the stage and you’re waving at people—I did not want to stand on that stage. I had no business being on that stage with Ray Charles.”
The show debuted in 1975 and has helped launch the careers of dozens of comedians. During the lead-up to the 2024 election, “SNL” was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disgusting-team-trump-rips-saturday-night-live-for-joke-about-assassination-attempts">criticized</a> for making jokes about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. 
The show also scheduled Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for a last-minute appearance the weekend before the election, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-snls-pro-kamala-stunt-just-backfired-bigly">backfired</a> when NBC was forced to give Trump equal airtime after a Sunday night football game. 
Sunday Night Football regularly attracts more than 20 million viewers, while the <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-kamala-harris-ratings-snl-sunday-night-football-1980095">ratings</a> show that “SNL&#8221; recently attracted 5.6 million viewers for its season premiere.

Sound harsh? Quick, name the last sketch that skewered a Democratic politician. How many jokes did “SNL” tell about President Joe Biden’s obvious mental decline? The progressive’s retreat on free speech? Vice President Kamala Harris’ word salad speeches?
Squatters gone wild? Big-city crime spikes? Illegal immigration impacting small town USA?
To paraphrase Dean Wormer from “Animal House” … zero point zero.

It’s impossible to miss the show’s extreme bias, an echo of late-night television in the post-Johnny Carson world.
The show’s key players, including founder Lorne Michaels, are either kidding themselves about the show’s new normal or think it’s funny to lie about it. Michaels told The Hollywood Reporter that <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/snl-interview-trump-jokes-2024-election-lorne-michaels-future-1236005680/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“SNL” still hits both sides of the aisle</a>. Really.
<blockquote>You can’t lecture the audience, which most of politics is now, people lecturing the audience. Ours is like, yeah, there are kind of idiots on both sides. And we’re not going to do anything that didn’t work at dress [rehearsal]. It has to play. It has to be comedy. We’re first and foremost a comedy show.</blockquote>
That’s not a new show writer or a gullible cast member. It’s the comedy genius who introduced “Saturday Night Live” to us all the way back in 1975.
The show’s early days cast a huge shadow on the new cast. Said shadow grows even longer this Fall.

Chaos! Excitement! Counter-culture comedy! It’s all there, directed by Oscar-nominee Jason Reitman.

Mostly unfamiliar faces bring Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner and the original &#8220;Not Ready for Prime-Time Players&#8221; back to screens across the country.
The film is earning raves from early festival screenings. It also reminds fans why the show once delivered must-see comedy. Not every joke landed, of course. Others have aged poorly. If the sight of John Belushi in a bee costume makes you howl in 2024, you may need professional help.
That unpredictability was part of the show’s appeal. You didn’t know what might happen next. Yes, it was live, and that element helped. The cast members dug into the show’s free-spirited ways, pushing the comedy envelope early and often.

All it took was one irreverent sketch to fuel water cooler gossip for days.
The show’s finely tuned anarchy spoke to an era grappling with the end of the Vietnam War, the fallout from Watergate and an energy crisis. 
Years later, “SNL” morphed into a comedy incubator: Aykroyd. Belushi. Murray. Chase. Murphy. Carvey. Rock. Sandler. Ferrell. Fey. It may have lost some of its comic edge, but it hit both sides of the political aisle and kept the focus where it belonged.
Is it funny? Then it makes the final cut.

The current “SNL” lacks both laughs and cultural clout. When was the last time “SNL” broke out a major comedy star? Current player Bowen Yang has snagged steady big-screen work, but he’s never the star and his films typically make “indie-film” cash.
The media will prop up the show’s 50th season, giving every anti-Trump sketch wall-to-wall coverage. A shrinking band of progressives will tune in to see how the show hits Trump in the weeks before the election.
They know the show’s comedic targets even if they don’t know every punchline word for word.

Everyone else has found new comedy faces to speak Truth to Power. Think Tim Dillon, Ryan Long, Andrew Schulz, Tyler Fischer and Shane Gillis. These comedians didn’t need “SNL” to jump-start their careers. Gillis famously got fired from the show before he could step on its historic stage for past “problematic” jokes.
He returned four years later as a show host, his presence proving “SNL” needed him far more than he needed the NBC showcase.
The rest reach out via Patreon, YouTube, stand-up stages, Netflix specials and podcasts, bypassing both Hollywood and the once-might “SNL” incubator.
You never know what they’ll say next or who they’ll target with the next withering punchline. That sense of chaos once lived in “SNL’s” creative DNA. Now, that’s all but gone, replaced by corporate groupthink and an unwillingness to rock the boat.
Remember how guest player Brad Pitt feted Dr. Anthony Fauci during the pandemic? Or how several cast members serenaded outgoing President Barack Obama with the song, <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/snl-ends-musical-sidney-poitier-inspired-obama-dedication-sir-love-video/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“To Sir, With Love?”</a> Later, “SNL” player Jay Pharoah admitted the show <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/jay-pharoah-snl-obama/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“gave up”</a> on mocking Obama during his two terms in office.

Is this comedy or DNC propaganda? The line isn’t even blurry on most nights.
“SNL” once invited both Trump and Elon Musk to host the show. Would NBC brass allow either to do the same today, even if the ratings would likely be huge?

During the movie premier of Murray&#8217;s latest film &#8220;Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,&#8221; the 73-year-old actor said he&#8217;d been talking with director Jason Reitman about his film depicting the inaugural year of &#8220;SNL&#8221; in 1975 with a focus on the original comedians on the show, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/media/videos/bill-murray-names-a-very-unexpected-choice-to-play-him-in-snl-movie-exclusive-221707">Entertainment Tonight</a> reported.
&#8220;He&#8217;s [Reitman] been picking my brain about the &#8216;SNL&#8217; days since he was a grasshopper, so he knows a lot of what I know,&#8221; Murray told the outlet. &#8220;He&#8217;s an astute student and director.&#8221;

&#8220;I&#8217;m blessed that this movie will really be about the original seven [SNL cast members],&#8221; he added, noting that he didn&#8217;t join until 1977. &#8220;I get to be on the sidelines. I think my name gets mentioned, which is good.&#8221;
The &#8220;Ghostbuster&#8221; star admitted because he will be part of the movie he has some thoughts on exactly which &#8220;SNL&#8221; alum or cast member should play him.
&#8220;I like Kenan Thompson; he could play me,&#8221; Murray said of the black comedian.  &#8220;Or Bill Hader. Those two… or Kristen Wiig… any of those three could play me. Or Amy Poehler.&#8221;
Murray&#8217;s latest project is the next film in the &#8220;Ghostbusters&#8221; franchise and will be a reunion for members of the original 1984 &#8220;Ghostbusters&#8221; in which he starred alongside, Dan Aykroyd, Rick Moranis and the late Harold Ramis.
The original ghostbusting-film was directed by Jason&#8217;s father the late-Ivan Reitman, who also directed &#8220;Ghostbusters 2.&#8221; In 2021, Jason resurrected the original franchise and found box office success with &#8220;Ghostbusters: Afterlife.&#8221; Both Murray and Aykroyd appeared in the film along with original stars Annie Potts, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson. Ramis appeared with the help of CGI in the movie, as he died in 2014.
&#8220;Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire&#8221; ill pick up the story where &#8220;Ghostbusters: Afterlife&#8221; left off.
A <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21235248/">description</a> of the movie read, &#8220;When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.&#8221;
It is set to hit theaters March 22.

“Milkshake” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">singer</a> Kelis, 43, addressed rumors that she’s been dating actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray">Bill Murray</a>.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">performing artist</a> did not confirm nor deny the gossip that has been circulating for weeks other than to say on social media that she and Murray, 72, are both “happy.”
“Lol yeah maybe for now everyone’s dumb and will believe anything but the best part is we are both blessed, rich and happy,” Kelis responded to one fan comment on Instagram.
A fan also commented, “Ma’am would you care to address these Bill Murray allegations?!? Cuz damn! What he doing with all that?!?” after the singer <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CtTtgExMvqD/">posted</a> a bikini photo to Instagram while vacationing with her children in Greece. Kelis replied, “lol no babe, I wouldn’t bother at all.”
The rumors began when <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/8324843/kelis-bill-murray-dating/">The Sun</a> published an article based on an unnamed source who claimed the pair have been “getting close for a while.” Kelis and Murray have been photographed together multiple times, including at her concerts, but neither has said whether their relationship is platonic or romantic.
The source went on to claim the duo bonded over losing loved ones recently. Kelis’s husband, Mike Mora, passed away last year at the age of 37 after battling stomach cancer. Murray’s older brother, Ed, also died recently.

Remember that classic movie &#8220;Groundhog Day&#8221; with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bill Murray</a>? Murray&#8217;s character, Phil Connors, is stuck in a time loop and hears the same stories and quotes from his acquaintances day in and day out, ad nauseam.
That&#8217;s a bit of what <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Joe Biden</a>&#8216;s presidency is like for all Americans. The man just can&#8217;t help but repeat the same tired lines, day in and day out.
Wednesday night, Biden again <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-calling-for-americans-to-unite-demonizes-republicans-as-a-threat-to-democracy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> that &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; are threatening democracy. It was a standard rehash of his<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-soul-of-joe-bidens-america-is-dark-as-hell" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> September 1 speech</a> of the same nature: You&#8217;re either with me or you&#8217;re against democracy. 
On Tuesday, Biden again <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/biden-blasted-blaming-high-inflation-war-iraq-confusion-son-died-sad" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that his son, Beau, died in Iraq. He didn&#8217;t. Beau passed away six years after he left Iraq. Yet the president has made that claim so often that <a href="https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/joe-biden/beau-biden-died-brain-cancer-after-iraq-military-service-fact-check/536-710272fb-97ce-4f4d-8c64-e8162d881d48" target="_blank" rel="noopener">even fact-checkers</a> have labeled it as not true.
Due to his policies that discourage fossil fuel investment, gas prices have skyrocketed and the price of a gas per gallon is currently $1.38 higher than the day Biden took office. His unnecessary spending has also contributed to inflation overall.
Rather than admit his failure, Biden has blamed <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/biden-days-midterms-accuses-oil-companies-war-profiteering/story?id=92445650" target="_blank" rel="noopener">everybody from Big Oil companies</a> to <a href="https://www.politico.com/video/2022/05/10/biden-shifts-blame-on-inflation-and-gas-prices-to-maga-republicans-573001" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Republicans</a> to OPEC for expensive fuel and other commodities. The trouble, Biden seems to think, is that Russian President Vladimir Putin&#8217;s war in Ukraine has put pressure on the industry, thus driving high prices.
The only problem with Biden&#8217;s sorry Ukraine excuse is that in the fall of 2021, gas prices were already high.
How could a war that had yet to start be the cause of that economic misery?
Then, of course, there is the litany of bogus tall tales Biden loves to say to gin up empathy and pretend to be in touch with the common man.
If you ask Biden, he went to a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwLGh5FkmgY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">historically black college</a>, played <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/fact-check-bidens-too-tall-football-tale-flna1c6504609" target="_blank" rel="noopener">varsity college football</a>, taught classes at the <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/02/19/biden-says-he-was-professor-touting-1m-gig-with-few-visits/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Pennsylvania</a>, was arrested for protesting civil rights, and used to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/joe-biden-tells-the-story-of-big-mama-and-repeats-false-claim-he-used-to-drive-a-truck" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drive a truck</a>.
None of that is true, but Biden retells those anecdotes every so often.
To really display the lunacy behind Biden&#8217;s fables, the popular Twitter account Maze created a must-see video of the president recounting a classic tale of how a former Amtrak employee named Angelo Negri pinched Biden&#8217;s cheek and told him he had ridden anywhere between 1 million and 2.5 million miles on the train service.
The only problem is that Negri died in 2014 and retired in 1993. There is no evidence the incident ever occurred, much less evidence to back up Biden&#8217;s mileage.

The thing is that Biden started these fibs well before there were any other signs of mental decline. So, to some extent, senility is out of the question.
Yet, Biden seems completely unaware that he has told the stories before and that he has repeatedly been called out for his lies.
Even The New York Times has become critical of the president.
In this scenario, Biden is not the main character of &#8220;Groundhog Day,&#8221; but one of the side characters completely oblivious to the fact that he has said and done these things before.
The rest of America is Murray, waking up to realize that the country is frozen in time, living the same day over and over again with Biden as president. The only thing different is that we don&#8217;t get to reawake each day on Biden&#8217;s inauguration day January 21, 2021, <a href="https://www.eia.gov/pressroom/radio/transcript/gasoline_price_01212021_short.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">when gas was $2.40</a> and everything was much cheaper.

Actor Seth Green has joined the growing list of accusers claiming to have had uncomfortable experiences with veteran actor <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bill Murray</a>, recounting a bizarre experience that he said occurred backstage at &#8220;<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/snl-cold-open-mocks-biden-shows-him-blaming-omicron-surge-on-spider-man-movie/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Saturday Night Live</a>.&#8221;
The &#8220;Robot Chicken&#8221; actor detailed the scene during an appearance on the YouTube show &#8220;Good Mythical Morning&#8221; with hosts Rhett and Link, explaining that he had been part of a holiday-themed sketch on the show one of the times that <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/filming-suspended-after-inappropriate-behavior-complaint-filed-against-bill-murray-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Murray</a> had hosted.

&#8220;When I was nine years old, I did a spot on &#8216;Saturday Night Live,&#8217; when Mary Gross was one of the on-the-scene anchor people for the news,&#8221; Green began. &#8220;And she did a whole thing about what kids think about the Christmas holiday. And I was a nine-year-old kid, and the whole gag was like these kids are not talking about the magic or the joy of it.&#8221;
The &#8220;Buffy the Vampire Slayer&#8221; alum admitted that he had never actually told this particular story before and went on to explain that he had been hanging out in the green room prior to his sketch when Murray came in and caused a scene over a chair.
&#8220;Bill Murray was hosting the show, and as everybody knows, Bill Murray is great with kids,&#8221; Green said sarcastically, prompting laughter from the hosts.
&#8220;So, he saw me sitting on the arm of this chair and made a big fuss about me being in his seat,&#8221; Green said. &#8220;And I was like, &#8216;That is absurd. I am sitting on the arm of this couch. There are several lengths of this sofa. Kindly, eff off.&#8217; And he was like, &#8216;That&#8217;s my chair.'&#8221;
&#8220;My mom goes, &#8216;You know, since he&#8217;s the Bill Murray you should maybe give him his seat. And I go, &#8216;This is — I&#8217;ve never been more indignant, to be told the arm of this chair is — are you this much of a jerk? You&#8217;re this rude to tell a 9-year-old to get out of your — what is this power play?'&#8221; Green continued.
Green said that Murray responded by lifting him up by his ankles and dangling him upside down over a trash can. &#8220;Trash goes in the trash can,&#8221; Murray said, according to Green.
&#8220;I was screaming and I swung my arms and flailed wildly, full contact with his balls, full contact,&#8221; Green added. &#8220;He dropped me in the trash can, the trash can falls over. I was horrified. I ran away, hid under the table in my dressing room, and like just cried and cried.&#8221;
Green said that it was Eddie Murphy and Tim Kazurinsky who ultimately talked him down and convinced him to do the show, telling him, &#8220;Hey, everybody knows Bill&#8217;s a d**k.&#8221;

Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rob-schneider" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rob Schneider</a> claims <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bill Murray</a> wasn’t amused by him or several other big-time <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comedians</a> back in their “Saturday Night Live” days.
Schneider recalled the details during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s &#8220;The Jim Norton &amp; Sam Roberts Show,” Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/rob-schneider-bill-murray-absolutely-hated-snl-cast-particularly-adam-sandler-chris-farley" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“[Murray] wasn’t very nice to us,&#8221; the “Grown Ups” alum said of his former co-star. &#8220;He hated us on ‘<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/saturday-night-live" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Saturday Night Live</a>’ when he hosted. Absolutely hated us. I mean, seething.&#8221;
&#8220;He hated Chris Farley with a passion. Like he was just seething looking at him,&#8221; Schneider continued. He speculated that may have been because Murray was friends with the late John Belushi, who Farley emulated. 
&#8220;I don’t know exactly, but I want to believe that it’s because Chris thought it was cool to be Belushi, who [was] his friend who he saw die, that he thought it was cool to be that out of control. That’s my interpretation, but I don’t really know. I don’t believe it. I only believe it 50 percent.&#8221;
Schneider said again that Murray &#8220;just hated, like, all of us pretty much&#8221; but said &#8220;the least of the hate was to me.&#8221;
&#8220;I took great pleasure in that he hated me less, because he&#8217;s my hero,&#8221; he explained, before describing Murray’s demeanor as “naked rage.” He said Murray was kind to fans and non-actors but despised fellow comedians at “SNL” when he guest hosted, including Adam Sandler.
Schneider explained that he &#8220;couldn&#8217;t say exactly what it was&#8221; but Murray &#8220;just wasn’t into that groove of it, you know? 
&#8220;And Sandler was just committed to it, and just like, as soon as he would get on, you could see the audience just ate him up,&#8221; the actor said.
Murray was part of the main “SNL” cast from 1977 through 1980 and guest hosted various shows after that. The publication noted that Murray was a guest host in 1993 when Schneider, Sandler, and Farley were all part of the main cast.
Meanwhile, Murray has been dealing with negative press as his most recent movie “Being Mortal” was forced to shut down when a crew member accused the 72-year-old actor of sexual misconduct. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-murrays-alleged-sexual-misconduct-details-which-led-to-movie-shutdown-revealed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Murray was allegedly “kissing” and “straddling” the “much younger” woman on set. She and the actor entered mediation and reached a settlement of $100,000. 
“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray said in April of the incident. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production.”
“And I feel like if I don’t see that, you know, the world is different than it was when I was a little kid,” he continued. “You know, what I always thought was funny as a little kid isn’t necessarily the same as what’s funny now. Things change and the times change, so it’s important for me to figure it out.”

Details about actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray">Bill Murray</a> allegedly engaging in inappropriate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sexual-assault">sexual contact</a> with a female movie production staffer earlier this year have been revealed in a new report.
The 72-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">actor</a> was accused of “kissing” and “straddling” the unnamed woman while filming “Being Mortal” this spring. The “much younger” staffer was allegedly unable to move under his body weight. Onlookers say Murray was attempting to kiss the staffer while both were wearing masks, per <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/10/11/bill-murray-accused-of-kissing-and-straddling-female-staffer/">The New York Post</a>.
The accuser said Murray tried to defend himself, but despite that, she “interpreted his actions as entirely sexual” and was “horrified.”
Murray had previously addressed the controversy after the film got shut down earlier this year. He called the sexual assault allegations a “difference of opinion.”
“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray said in April, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-murray-addresses-allegation-of-inappropriate-behavior-that-led-to-shutdown-of-latest-film">reported</a>. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production.”
“And I feel like if I don’t see that, you know, the world is different than it was when I was a little kid,” he continued. “You know, what I always thought was funny as a little kid isn’t necessarily the same as what’s funny now. Things change and the times change, so it’s important for me to figure it out.&#8221;
“And I think the most important thing is that it’s best for the other person. I thought about it, and if it’s not best for the other person, doesn’t matter what happens for me,” the comedian continued.
After the accuser filed an official complaint, she and Murray entered mediation. They agreed upon a settlement payment of more than $100,000.  
Just as this new report drops, actress Geena Davis came out with her own story of what she describes as Murray being “difficult” on set and allegedly using a massage device on her back without her consent. 
&#8220;I&#8217;ve never spoken about it publicly,&#8221; Davis told <a href="https://people.com/movies/geena-davis-recalls-bill-murray-being-difficult-he-knows-very-well-the-way-he-can-behave/">People</a> of the incident she said happened on the set of “Quick Change” in 1989. She wrote out the details as she remembered them in her memoir.
&#8220;I said no multiple times, but he wouldn&#8217;t relent,&#8221; Davis recalled. &#8220;I would have had to yell at him and cause a scene if I was to get him to give up trying to force me to do it; the other men in the room did nothing to make it stop. I realized with profound sadness that I didn&#8217;t yet have the ability to withstand this onslaught — or to simply walk out.&#8221;
Davis said Murray &#8220;placed the [massager] on my back for a total of about two seconds.&#8221;

Stand-up comedians dream of landing a sitcom to call their own.
Think “Seinfeld,” “The King of Queens,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “The Jamie Foxx Show” and many more. Others set their sights on a more illustrious prize.
An Academy Award.
That means leaving some of their comedy tics behind to fully inhabit a role. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/six-comedians-who-kill-as-dramatic-actors">We’ve noted a half-dozen comedians</a> who did just that, but the list of funny-people-turned-serious is longer than one article can convey.
The following stars have yet to take home a coveted Oscar, but for some it’s only a matter of time.
<h3>Steve Carell</h3>
The “Daily Show” alum struck comedy gold with 2005’s “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” which he co-wrote with former comedy king Judd Apatow. That same year he began anchoring the American version of “The Office,” making Michael Scott the embodiment of corporate foolishness.
He could have kept making us laugh. Instead, he veered into more dramatic fare with sublime results. His performance in 2014’s “Foxcatcher,” based on a chilling true story, shocked longtime fans. He earned his first Oscar nomination for the startling career shift.
The victory fueled Carell&#8217;s cravings. So, in between a disappointing two-season run of Netflix’s “Space Force,” he brought a Matt Lauer-like figure to life in “The Morning Show,” Apple TV+‘s most celebrated drama.
Now, Carell is part of “The Patient,” FX’s pitch-black drama following the star’s character, a therapist, who is kidnapped by a serial killer.
<h3>Bill Murray</h3>
The “Saturday Night Live” superstar hungered for dramatic work early in his career. Fans weren’t ready for it, though, and his turn in 1984’s “The Razor’s Edge” failed to light the box office aflame. The culture wasn’t ready to stop laughing at him, nor were film critics of the time.
So Murray went back to funny business, carving out an impressive run of hits courtesy of &#8220;Ghostbusters,&#8221; “What About Bob?” and, of course, “Groundhog Day.”
That dramatic itch never went away, though. He dove headfirst into sobering fare with 2003’s “Lost in Translation,” playing a fading star who makes a soulful connection with a young woman (Scarlett Johansson).
The film’s raucous reception, including a nomination for Best Actor, gave him the opportunity to finally embrace a two-track career – serious work like “Get Low” and “Broken Flowers” and films that play to his comedic strengths like “St. Vincent,” and “Zombieland” along with several Wes Anderson features.
<h3>Melissa McCarthy</h3>
This “Gilmore Girls” standout stole the 2011 ensemble comedy “Bridesmaids,” no mean feat given she shared the screen with Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Rose Byrne. That sparked McCarthy’s solo career, which began with promise (“Spy,” “The Heat”) before sputtering (“Thunder Force,” “Life of the Party”) in recent years.
She shrewdly sought and snagged meatier roles to hedge against comic failure and the industry’s woke revolution. “The Kitchen” proved a late 2019 flop, but “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” earned McCarthy a well-deserved Oscar nomination.
Her subsequent turn in “The Starling” showed that her ability in performance was no fluke, but the Netflix original packed too many cringe moments for McCarthy to shine.
<h3>Eddie Murphy</h3>
“Delirious.” “Raw.” 
Two iconic comedy specials, one 20-something genius. Naturally, the “Saturday Night Live” alum took his skills to the big screen, and in a short span delivered an impressive of blockbusters: “48 Hrs.,” “Trading Places,” and “Beverly Hills Cop.”
Murphy had talent to burn, but he only used a fraction of it in careful script curation over various career stretches. Mediocre fare like “Daddy Day Care,” “The Adventures of Pluto Nash” and “Dr. Dolittle” hardly deserved a comedy icon’s attention, to be kind.
His career got the turbo boost it needed in 2006 with “Dreamgirls.” Murphy snagged his first and only Oscar nomination for the film, showcasing the full range of his dramatic repertoire. He has renewed his devotion to comedies since then, but delivered powerful turns in the otherwise generic “Mr. Church” as well as in “Dolemite Is My Name”’s introspective scenes.
<h3>Michael Keaton</h3>
Tim Burton selected “Mr. Mom,” of all actors, to play the Dark Knight in 1989’s “Batman.” The analog version of Comic-Con Nation lost its collective mind. It obviously hadn’t seen “Clean and Sober” the previous year.
Keaton set the funny shtick aside to play an addict trying to kick his deadly habits. The part showcased his range, and rage — two qualities that made his Bat films memorable.
That DC Comics pivot sustained him for a spell before he faded from the A-list. He came roaring back in films like “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” his first Best Actor nomination to date, and “Spotlight,” but even his lesser-known dramas (like “The Founder”) deserve audience attention.
<h3>Bill Burr</h3>
He’s one of the funniest stand-ups alive, an apolitical jester who calls out the woke mind virus. Burr isn’t satisfied with being in comedy’s rarefied air, though. He’s been landing small parts for a while now, a thug here (“Breaking Bad”), an anti-hero there (“The Mandalorian”).
His best role, to date, came via “The King of Staten Island.” Yes, it’s technically a comedy from fading superstar Judd Apatow, but Burr’s character offers a serious arc that steals the show from star Pete Davidson.
Burr’s Boston upbringing gives the character, a firefighter trying to woo Marisa Tomei, a welcome brew of grit and wisdom.

Actor Bill Murray gave an interview over the weekend where he addressed the allegations of inappropriate behavior that led to his latest film being shut down.
The movie, &#8220;Being Mortal,&#8221; which includes other top actors like Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogan, was set to be released in 2023 before the incident. It is now not clear whether Murray will continue to be a part of the film.
Speaking to CNBC on Saturday, Murray chalked up the incident, which he did not elaborate on, as a &#8220;difference of opinion,&#8221; <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/04/bill-murray-being-mortal-production-suspension-speaks-out-1235013728/">saying</a> that he did something that he thought was funny, but that it was not received that way by the other party.
“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray said. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production. But as of now, we’re talking and we’re trying to make peace with each other. I think that’s where the real issue is, between our peace. We’re both professionals. We like each other’s work. We like each other, I think, and if you can’t really get along and trust each other, there’s no point in going further working together or making a movie as well.”
“And I feel like if I don’t see that, you know, the world is different than it was when I was a little kid,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You know, what I always thought was funny as a little kid isn’t necessarily the same as what’s funny now. Things change and the times change, so it’s important for me to figure it out. And I think the most important thing is that it’s best for the other person. I thought about it, and if it’s not best for the other person, doesn’t matter what happens for me.”
Murray said that what would make him the happiest is if all parties involved could get back to work and learn to trust each other and the work that they&#8217;ve been doing, and that they can grow from the incident.
Searchlight Pictures sent a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/filming-suspended-after-inappropriate-behavior-complaint-filed-against-bill-murray-report">letter</a> to everyone involved with the project last week, notifying them that they had decided to pause production until the incident was thoroughly investigated.

Producers have shut down filming of Bill Murray&#8217;s latest project, &#8220;Being Mortal,&#8221; after reports surfaced that someone accused the legendary comedic actor of &#8220;inappropriate behavior,&#8221; according to a report.
&#8220;Following the news that <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/04/searchlight-being-mortal-1235007035/">production was suspended</a> on the Searchlight film &#8216;<a id="auto-tag_being-mortal" href="https://deadline.com/tag/being-mortal/" data-tag="being-mortal">Being Mortal</a>,&#8217; sources tell Deadline the reason for suspension had to do with a complaint made against star <a id="auto-tag_bill-murray" href="https://deadline.com/tag/bill-murray/" data-tag="bill-murray">Bill Murray</a> for inappropriate behavior,&#8221; Deadline reported.
The Searchlight film, which was also to be Aziz Ansari&#8217;s directorial debut, was initially halted Monday — and Deadline reported that, after reviewing the complaint filed last week, the decision was made to shut down production until the complaint could be investigated.

Principal photography for the project — a film adaptation of surgeon Atul Gawande’s nonfiction book &#8220;Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End&#8221; — was said to be halfway completed at the time the set was shut down, just three weeks after it began on March 28.
According to Deadline&#8217;s report, it is unclear what Murray&#8217;s role might be going forward. The complaint apparently does not include director Ansari, his partner Youree Henley, or actor Seth Rogen — who also has a role in the film.
Searchlight Pictures has declined to comment on the issue because the internal investigation into the complaint is ongoing.
The studio sent a letter to all involved with the project after deciding to halt production, which read in part, &#8220;Late last week, we were made aware of a complaint, and we immediately looked into it. Murray just recently celebrated the late &#8220;Ghostbusters&#8221; director Ivan Reitman during an appearance at the 94th Academy Awards.
Details about the nature of the alleged &#8220;inappropriate behavior&#8221; have not been revealed publicly, and reports do not indicate whether or not producers believe the film will still meet its scheduled 2023 release date.
It&#8217;s not the first time someone has complained about Murray&#8217;s behavior, either. Veteran actor and Oscar-winner Richard Dreyfuss <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/richard-dreyfuss-best-movies-roles-stories-interview-jaws-bill-murray-130000701.html">said in a 2019 interview</a> that Murray was a &#8220;drunken bully&#8221; on the set of the 1991 comedy &#8220;What About Bob?&#8221;
&#8220;I didn&#8217;t talk about it for years. … Bill just got drunk at dinner. He was an Irish drunken bully, is what he was. … He came back from dinner [one night] and I said, &#8216;Read this [script tweak], I think it&#8217;s really funny.&#8217; And he put his face next to me, nose-to-nose,&#8221; Dreyfuss said. &#8220;And he screamed at the top of his lungs, &#8216;Everyone hates you! You are tolerated!&#8217; There was no time to react, because he leaned back and he took a modern glass-blown ashtray. He threw it at my face from [only a couple feet away]. And it weighed about three quarters of a pound. And he missed me. He tried to hit me. I got up and left.&#8221;
