The Biden administration’s Department of Homeland Security was set to give nearly $300,000 to an organization that provides legal services to aliens subject to deportation. Now, the Trump administration has frozen its funding.
Catholic Migration Services (CMS), a New York-based non-profit organization, was <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_24CICET00364_7003">slated to receive</a> over $293,000 from the Department of Homeland Security to provide naturalization services for immigrants. The grant term began under the Biden administration on November 22nd, 2024, and was scheduled to continue until September 2026.
The organization provides a wealth of services beyond just naturalization, however, and even offers free deportation defense to foreign nationals who have an order of removal. These services are part of the group&#8217;s effort to “advance equality and social justice in a changing and diverse population.”
“We provide free legal services, tenant organizing services and community legal education to low-income New Yorkers regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, or immigration status,” Catholic Migration Services<a href="https://catholicmigration.org/about-catholic-migration-services/"> says,</a> before specifying that it provides deportation defense services to foreign aliens who have a removal order against them. “Our <a href="https://catholicmigration.org/immigration/">Immigration Unit</a> is comprised of four legal teams: Removal Defense, Affirmative, Naturalization, and the Pro Se Plus Project.”
Now the organization says that the federal funding has been frozen.
“CMS previously shared federal funding with other nonprofits to help lawful permanent residents become citizens. However, the Department of Homeland Security has recently frozen this program,” the organization told The Daily Wire. “In addition to offering various civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers, CMS also assists immigrants who have valid legal claims in removal proceedings.”
The freeze is part of a wider effort from the Trump administration to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/catholic-bishops-lawsuit-refugee-resettlement-trump-administration-09477d766651a940ae53840ce3bd9c6e">halt funding</a> to non-profits that encourage mass immigration into the United States, including religiously-affiliated refugee resettlement agencies.
Catholic Migration Services <a href="https://catholicmigration.org/immigration/">states</a> on its website that the organization offers “deportation defense” before adding that its offerings are intended to “help immigrants in deportation/removal proceedings represent themselves in Immigration Court and provide assistance with applications for asylum, employment authorization, immigration court motions, and other items.”
The Pro Se Plus Project, a joint effort of Catholic Migration Servicesus and two other organizations, <a href="https://www.proseplusnyc.org/">similarly states</a> that it provides deportation defense to aliens who are subject to removal. “We help people avoid exploitation, in absentia removal orders, missed deadlines and notario fraud,” the site reads, referencing removal orders that are issued by immigration judges when a non-citizen fails to appear for an immigration hearing.
CMS has also come out <a href="https://catholicmigration.org/catholic-migration-services-responds-to-the-trump-administrations-assault-on-immigrant-communities/">against</a> the Trump administration’s efforts to enforce federal immigration law, accusing the president of launching an “assault on immigrant communities” through his “threats of mass deportation and xenophobic rhetoric that has instilled deep fear in immigrant communities.”
The group is far from the only far-left organization that has received DHS funding despite advocating for illegal aliens, however. The Biden administration also gave $1.2 million to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, a radical organization that works to “dismantle the U.S. immigration enforcement system,” The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-says-shell-enforce-border-laws-her-admin-gave-1-2-million-to-group-that-wants-to-end-them">previously revealed</a>.
The organization was part of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-soros-backed-organizations-leverage-waves-of-new-immigrants-to-sway-elections">broader coalition</a> of non-profits that sought to naturalize citizens and mobilize them as voters to “sway the outcome of national, state, and local elections.”

The illegal alien population in the United States recently hit a record high in the wake of the Biden administration’s border policies and now sits at a whopping 18.6 million, a recent study found.
The <a href="https://www.fairus.org/issue/how-many-illegal-aliens-are-united-states-2025-update">study</a> from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) found that the number of illegal aliens present in the United States has surged 11 percent since June 2023, when the estimate sat at 16.8 million. The figure sits a full 28.2 percent higher than in December 2020, the month before former President Joe Biden took office.
Under FAIR’s new estimate, the illegal alien population present in the country is believed to be <a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/largest-U-S-state-by-population">greater</a> than the populations of all but the four most populous states in the union. “As of 2025, American population growth comes almost entirely from unsustainably high levels of immigration, both legal and illegal,” FAIR wrote.

FAIR, which advocates for border security and a reduction in legal immigration, asserts that the increased illegal alien population was due largely to “pull factors” resulting from the Biden administration’s border policies.
“In its first few months in power, the Biden administration sent a strong message of welcome to would-be illegal aliens,” FAIR writes, citing the former White House’s decisions to halt border wall construction, expand the grounds for claiming asylum, and rescind Asylum Cooperative Agreements, further expanding the pool of migrants who could apply for asylum.
“These policies had the expected effect,” FAIR charges. “Illegal border crossings began to rise as soon as the Biden administration took office, and they continued growing to catastrophic levels throughout the administration’s term.”
The organization also noted the challenges that come when attempting to estimate the illegal population, while also contending that other estimates significantly undercount the true figure. “Estimating the size, distribution, and characteristics of the illegal alien population is an inexact science,” FAIR points out. &#8220;We do not know exactly how many people cross the border illegally and evade immigration authorities, nor can anyone accurately quantify overstays or gotaways.”
“The Department of Homeland Security only (loosely) counts foreign nationals who enter and leave the United States in a lawful manner,” FAIR noted, adding that “its illegal alien population estimates remain unhelpful due to underestimating the size of the population and utilizing outdated numbers.”
FAIR&#8217;s estimate comes a year after the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) found that the foreign-born population in the United States reached a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/foreign-born-population-hits-new-high-with-surge-under-biden-fueled-by-illegal-immigration">new high</a> of 51.6 million in March 2024. The increase under the Biden administration, CIS estimated, was due primarily to mass illegal immigration.
Border crossings have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/vance-does-victory-lap-at-border-all-it-took-was-a-new-president">plummeted</a> to record lows under President Donald Trump, whose administration has carried out waves of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/more-than-500-criminal-illegal-aliens-captured-by-ice-in-week-long-houston-raids">deportation operations</a>. Other policies could encourage illegal aliens to leave the United States on their own.
Congress could require businesses across the country to use the E-Verify system to confirm the legal status of would-be employees and prevent illegal aliens from acquiring jobs. Border Czar Tom Homan <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/immigration/524920-to-stop-illegal-immigration-crack-down-on-illegal-employment">celebrated</a> the program in 2020, saying that it “is the best tool available, and currently prevents a significant amount of unauthorized employment.”

A government watchdog is sounding the alarm on former President Joe Biden&#8217;s liberal use of an autopen to sign official documents, saying it raises concerns about who controlled the presidency, given Biden&#8217;s cognitive decline.
Biden pardoned six criminals on December 30, 2022, with the &#8220;exact same autopen signature&#8221; while the president was vacationing and golfing in the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the Heritage Foundation&#8217;s Oversight Project.
&#8220;Note they all say they are &#8216;Signed in the City of Washington,'&#8221; the Oversight Project posted on X.
Around the same time, an omnibus spending bill was flown to Biden in the Virgin Islands to sign, but the pardons all appear to be signed by autopen, the watchdog said.
&#8220;Whoever controlled the autopen controlled the presidency,&#8221; the Oversight Project said.

Some prominent documents, including Hunter Biden&#8217;s pardon and Biden&#8217;s announcement that he was dropping out of the presidential race, appear to be hand signed, the watchdog found.
However, several other controversial pardons, including those for Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, the January 6 committee, and other Biden family members, were all signed with the same autopen signature, Kyle Brosnan, chief counsel for the Oversight Project told The Daily Wire.
Brosnan said that using the autopen to sign presidential pardons is particularly &#8220;troubling&#8221; since the authority to issue them rests solely with the president as a &#8220;constitutional principle.&#8221;
&#8220;You have to look at it in the context of President Biden&#8217;s mental decline,&#8221; Brosnan said, noting that Special Counsel Robert Hur&#8217;s report last year <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4456879-special-counsel-describes-biden-as-elderly-man-with-a-poor-memory-in-eye-raising-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> Biden an &#8220;elderly man with a poor memory.&#8221;
&#8220;I think we all saw with our own eyes his mental and physical deterioration over the course of his presidency,&#8221; Brosnan said. &#8220;There&#8217;s article after article that comes out showing how the Biden administration and his staff shielded him from public view, retinkered his schedule throughout the presidency, tried to script even what reporters he was calling on at press conferences, and that volume of evidence shows that President Biden wasn&#8217;t really running the White House. It was the staff. So if he&#8217;s not hand-signing these legally operative documents like pardons or even bills into law, that raises another question.&#8221;
The Justice Department should look into what the autopen policies of the previous White House were, whether certain individuals were authorized to operate the autopen, and what the approval process for affixing a signature looked like, Brosnan said.
&#8220;We need to figure out who was actually running the country for the last four years,&#8221; Brosnan said.
Brosnan said any legal cases against Biden&#8217;s signatures are still hypothetical, but he pointed to the questions around Chad Wolf&#8217;s status as acting homeland security secretary back in 2020, which resulted in a judge ruling that some of Wolf&#8217;s actions cracking down on illegal immigration were unlawful.

The Biden State Department’s office TVs were tuned into a state-funded Venezuelan propaganda channel that some say operates as an unregistered foreign agent to push the agenda of anti-American actors, The Daily Wire can report.
TVs at the Biden State Department were tuned into Telesur, a state-funded Venezuelan outlet that received 70 percent of its initial funding from the regime of anti-American socialist Hugo Chavez and even featured Chavez&#8217;s <a href="https://archive.ph/AEfp">weekly show</a>, “Alo, Presidente,” while he was alive.
The outlet also receives funding from the left-wing governments of Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Bolivia, and has been <a href="https://www.fdd.org/analysis/op_eds/2023/11/17/telesurs-pro-iran-propaganda/">slammed</a> as a purveyor of “<a href="https://www.telesurtv.net/news/Israel-trafica-con-ninos-de-Nepal-bajo-excusa-de-ayuda-20150505-0048.html">fake news</a>, ‘<a href="https://telesurtv.net/opinion/Que-pasa-con-la-lucha-contra-el-nazismo--20231106-0015.html">whataboutism</a>,’ and <a href="https://www.telesurtv.net/bloggers/Cesara-Israel-de-apoyar-a-los-yihadistas-20160710-0001.html">disinformation</a>” as it works to “demonize the West, undermine the credibility of Western news outlets, paint Western leaders as hypocrites, and promote a narrative of global resistance against America and its allies.&#8221;

Joe Wilson (R-SC) previously called for the channel to be investigated by the Department of Justice in 2018, <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/venezuela/article207929624.html">charging</a> that the channel “appears to act under foreign direction and engages in political activities in the interest of its foreign principal, primarily the government of Venezuela.”
“I am writing to request the Administration help the people of the United States by investigating the status of Telesur under the Foreign Agents Registration Act,” Wilson, who contended that the channel acted as an unregistered foreign agent of the Nicholas Maduro regime, wrote in 2018. “The Telesur network is to Venezuela what Russia Today is to Russia, a propaganda outfit masquerading as a news organization broadcasting information that undermines U.S. interests in Latin America.”
“Access to the United States market is a privilege, not a right and the American taxpayers deserve to know if TeleSur affiliates in the United States are acting as foreign agents of a foreign government such as Venezuela,” he went on to <a href="https://joewilson.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/joewilson-evo.house.gov/files/Letter%20Telesur.pdf">write</a>.
Argentina, which previously funded the outlet and was one of the founding backers, <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/venezuela/article68633342.html">revoked funding</a> in 2016 under the leadership of then-President Mauricio Macri. Uruguay <a href="https://www.gub.uy/ministerio-relaciones-exteriores/comunicacion/comunicados/2120-uruguay-se-retira-telesur-banco-del-sur-basado-principio-integrar">pulled its funding</a> four years later, in 2020.

An NBC affiliate in Boston complained of “growing concerns” of deportation raids performed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the federal law enforcement agency caught illegal alien criminals wanted for crimes such as murder and rape.
NBC10 published a <a href="https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/after-federal-agents-spotted-in-east-boston-concerns-grow-over-potential-ice-raids/3610367/">story</a> headlined, “After federal agents spotted in East Boston, concerns grow over potential ICE raids” shortly after federal law enforcement agents captured illegal alien criminals accused of a variety of violent crimes.
“There&#8217;s growing concerns over potential ICE raids locally after federal agents were spotted by NBC Boston cameras entering homes in East Boston Wednesday and taking at least one person into custody,” the NBC10 story read. “These operations come amid heightened alert for mass roundups and deportations promised by President Donald Trump, but federal authorities would not confirm they are related to that effort.”
The report was slammed on X by Bill Melugin, the Fox News National Correspondent who embedded with ICE on their series of raids in Boston.

Former President Joe Biden commuted the sentence of a Connecticut drug dealer who was convicted in the killings of a mother and her eight-year-old son as part of a slate of thousands of pardons for &#8220;non-violent&#8221; criminals.
Adrian Peeler, 48, was ultimately only convicted of conspiring to kill Karen Clarke and her eight-year-old son, Leroy “BJ” Brown, despite the testimony of an eyewitness, the Connecticut Post <a href="https://www.ctpost.com/news/article/bridgeport-clemency-adrian-peeler-murders-timeline-20049049.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The mother and son were attacked as they came home to their apartment in January 1999 — just weeks before they were set to testify against the drug dealer&#8217;s brother, who was accused of shooting Clarke&#8217;s boyfriend in front of the small boy. Peeler&#8217;s brother reportedly gave the order to kill the mother and son.
Clarke was found shot multiple times and lying face up on the floor of her son&#8217;s room with a phone just inches from her hand. Her son was found dead in the hall with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
Peeler was sentenced to 25 years in prison on the murder conspiracy charge as well as 35 years for drug dealing.
During his last days in office, Biden commuted Peeler&#8217;s sentence as part of his mass clemency for nearly 2,500 federal prisoners the former president called &#8220;non-violent.&#8221;
&#8220;Today, I am commuting the sentences of nearly 2,500 people convicted of non-violent drug offenses who are serving disproportionately long sentences compared to the sentences they would receive today under current law, policy, and practice,&#8221; Biden <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/biden-clemency-non-violent-inmates-includes-connecticut-child-killer?intcmp=tw_fnc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement.
Even one of Connecticut&#8217;s Democrat senators expressed discomfort with the pardon.
&#8220;It seems to me that someone dropped the ball here to let this person get released,&#8221; <a href="https://wnyt.com/us-news/family-outraged-after-man-convicted-in-connecticut-killings-gets-clemency-from-biden-in-drug-case/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). &#8220;This was a really vicious murder that changed our laws. It also highlights how we need to take a look at the pardon system to see how it can be improved.&#8221;
The killings led to Connecticut creating its witness protection system.
The brother of the murdered mother said the pardon is &#8220;shocking&#8221; for his family.
&#8220;I’m sick and tired, and I’m disgusted,&#8221; Oswald Clarke, <a href="https://wnyt.com/us-news/family-outraged-after-man-convicted-in-connecticut-killings-gets-clemency-from-biden-in-drug-case/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Associated Press. &#8220;It’s a very shocking thing. My family is very distraught about it. It’s like we’re being traumatized all over again.&#8221;
Russell Peeler was originally sentenced to death for the murders, but that was changed to life in prison when Connecticut abolished the death penalty.
The brothers&#8217; mother was a Bridgeport city cop who urged them to follow the law. Before she died of stomach cancer she urged her sons to spend her insurance money on finishing college, but Russell Peeler used the money as a seed for his drug empire instead.

At the consulate in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for example, officials “commemorated Black Consciousness Month with an event in which employees learned about inclusion of Afro-Brazilian culture through Capoeira music and LGBTQI+ culture through Vogue dance.”
The embassy in Panama City, meanwhile, “hosted inclusive language training on how the Spanish language discusses women and gender,” also discussing Panamanians with disabilities, LGBTQI+ Panamanians, Afro-Panamanians,” and “indigenous communities — specifically Wounaan Panamanians, and HIV-positive Panamanians and the stigmas they face.”
The embassy in Cambodia’s capital of Phnom Penh created a “DEIA Library for all ages, featuring over 150 books in English and Khmer on DEIA and the traditions and cultures of both the United States and Cambodia.”
The events at the consulates and embassies were not just one-off DEI celebrations, but were instead part of the State Department’s broader approach under former President Joe Biden and Blinken.
The agency also created a data dashboard with the demographic characteristics of civil service and foreign service officials, instituted a biennial “DEIA climate study,” and hosted “Start Out Right,” the first DEIA summit intended to “train 250 first-time Department managers from across the world on inclusive leadership.”

The Biden administration launched a whole-of-government approach to embed the DEI agenda throughout the entire federal government and its bureaucracy, establishing DEI offices, policies, and new roles for those tasked with advancing the ideology. The Trump administration has already rolled back these measures and is actively rooting out potential efforts by bureaucrats within the executive branch to rename and conceal the DEI agenda.
The Daily Wire documented the rise of DEI at the Biden State Department, which appointed activists to high-paying positions and tasked them with spreading leftwing dogmas on race and gender across the world. Those two officials — special envoys tasked with advancing far-left dogma on race and gender — both appear to have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/state-department-lgbt-racial-equity-envoy-profiles-scrubbed-after-trump-takes-office">vacated their positions</a> at the State Department.
Trump also signed an executive order intended to purge DEI from the State Department and all executive agencies. In response to the order, the Office of Personnel Management <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-to-put-all-federal-dei-officials-on-leave-by-end-of-day-tomorrow">issued a memo</a> directing agency heads to “send a notification to all employees of DEIA offices that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately as the agency takes steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives, offices, and programs.”
The federal Office of Personnel Management also <a href="https://x.com/weijia/status/1881890551592828947">provided</a> agency heads with a template email to send to bureaucrats, which explains that the DEI actions of the previous administration “divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination.”

Trump made the statement after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-races-to-sell-off-border-wall-parts-before-trump-takes-office">Daily Wire investigation</a> revealed that the Biden administration was selling off portions of the border wall in public auctions, with a goal of unloading the border wall before Trump takes office in January. He also explained that some buyers have already purchased the border wall at three cents on the dollar before offering to sell it back to the Trump administration at hundreds of dollars a foot.

Republican senator Eric Schmitt is demanding that the Biden administration&#8217;s Pentagon cease the sale of the border wall materials being offloaded, saying the outgoing administration is &#8220;sabotaging&#8221; the effort to secure the border while recouping just .02% of the taxpayer money used to buy the material initially.
In a <a href="https://www.schmitt.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Senator-Eric-Schmitt-signed-Border-Wall-Materials-Final.pdf">letter obtained exclusively</a> by The Daily Wire, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-races-to-sell-off-border-wall-parts-before-trump-takes-office">reported on Thursday</a> that Biden was racing to sell off border wall parts in his final weeks in office, Schmitt calls on Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to &#8220;immediately cease&#8221; the auctions.
“I am writing to demand that you immediately cease the auctioning off of border wall materials,” Schmitt opens in his letter to Austin. “Senate Republicans, including the incoming Chairman, as well as my colleagues on the Senate Armed Services have raised the absurdity of selling border wall materials through letters, nomination hearings, and through the National Defense Authorization Act legislative process.”
Schmitt&#8217;s analysis of the already completed sales this month found that the administration is offloading the wall materials for far less than the market value of the material alone.
“A representative sale on December 11, 2024 concluded with four sections of border wall, accounting for almost 16,000 pounds worth of steel, selling for $105. If purely sold for scrap metal at the average cost of $694 per metric ton, the value of this lot is worth $5,219,” he pointed out, going on to accuse the current administration of sabotaging Trump.

A border patrol agent told investigative reporter James Lalino that the goal was to offload all the material at his segment of the border in Arizona by Christmas.
“They are taking it from three stations: Nogales, Tucson, and Three Points. The goal is to move all of it off the border before Christmas.” The agent also estimated that as much as &#8220;half a mile worth of unused border wall is being moved every day.&#8221;
The Daily Wire investigation has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-lt-gov-vows-we-will-buy-every-piece-of-border-wall-bidens-selling-and-give-it-to-trump">prompted a response</a> from Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who said he is prepared to buy the wall. “Message their White House right now: I will bid on all of that wall and we will buy it in Texas and we will give it to Donald Trump,” Patrick said. “I’ve got a billion dollars in my pocket to do it.”

The Biden-Harris administration’s decision to sell off parts of the border wall comes after it presided over a record-breaking surge in illegal immigration, all while ending policies like Remain in Mexico and Title 42, both of which were intended to stem the flow of mass illegal immigration.
<a href="https://homeland.house.gov/2024/10/22/chairman-green-on-september-border-encounter-numbers-we-simply-cannot-go-on-like-this-as-a-country/">One report</a> from Republican members of the House Committee on Homeland Security indicates that, as of October 2024, there have been nearly 11 million illegal alien encounters nationwide between fiscal years 2021 and 2024 under the Biden-Harris administration.
The surge in illegal immigration is so drastic that it propelled the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/foreign-born-population-hits-new-high-with-surge-under-biden-fueled-by-illegal-immigration">foreign-born population</a> living in the United States to a new all-time high of 51.6 million people. One estimate indicates that 58 percent of the surge in the foreign-born population was due to illegal immigration.
“For the sake of our safety, sovereignty, and economic well-being, I, once again, urge the Department of Defense to halt the sale of border wall material immediately,” Schmitt said at the conclusion of his letter.
Trump has signaled that one of his first actions as president next year will be to resume construction of the wall, which was halted during the Biden administration.

Senator Calls On Pentagon To Halt Sale Of Border Wall, Says Gov Recouping Just .02% Of Taxpayer Cost

A far-left illegal immigrant advocacy organization has raked in over a million dollars from the Biden-Harris Department of Homeland Security while attempting to halt the deportation of illegal aliens and trying to “dismantle the U.S. immigration enforcement system.”
The Los Angeles-based Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) advocates for illegal immigration, supports mass amnesty proposals, provides legal assistance to prevent deportations, and uses illegal immigrants in voter mobilization and turnout operations, all while raking in federal grants from the very same agency tasked with maintaining border security.
“CHIRLA works to dismantle the U.S. immigration enforcement system that profits from tearing apart immigrant families,” the organization <a href="https://www.chirla.org/what-we-do/our-priority-issues/end-draconian-immigration-enforcement-and-mass-detention/">explains</a>, specifically naming DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as its targets. But while the far-left organization has maligned DHS and its immigration enforcement mechanisms as an instrument of oppression, CHIRLA is set to receive $1.2 million in taxpayer funded grants from the federal law enforcement agency.
CHIRLA&#8217;s federal grants could frustrate Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217;s efforts to rebrand herself as a &#8220;border state prosecutor&#8221; ahead of the presidential election. Over <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/2455010/illegal-border-crossers-total-over-10-million-since-biden-inauguration/">10 million</a> people have crossed the border under the Biden-Harris administration, with an estimated <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Blockbuster-House-Report-Reveals-How-Badly-Bidens-Broken-Our-Immigration-System">1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways recorded</a> since the pair took office. In the final days of the race, the Harris campaign has even run an advertisement that claims Democrats are the party of  border security, featuring an image of former president Donald Trump&#8217;s<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-harris-ad-features-trumps-border-wall-as-harris-pivots-on-immigration"> border wall</a>
Todd Bensman, a Senior National Security Fellow with the Center for Immigration Studies, told The Daily Wire that CHIRLA could easily find common cause with the Biden-Harris administration, which is staffed with radical ideologues who likely agree with the group&#8217;s far-left positions.
“It&#8217;s perfectly in line with what they&#8217;ve been doing for three and a half years,” Bensman said of the funding, adding that the administration is “peopled with appointees who all share those ideologies, the same ideology, which is that border enforcement and immigration laws are immoral.”
According to its IRS 990 form, CHIRLA <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/954421521/202441319349305374/full">teaches illegal immigrants</a> “how to protect themselves against Immigration Customs Enforcement,&#8221; which deports criminal illegal aliens, including those who’ve been charged with violent crimes.
A <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_23CICET00327_7003">2023 grant</a> from the DHS U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the amount of $450,000 went to the group for “citizenship instruction and naturalization services.” CHIRLA explains that it <a href="https://www.chirla.org/what-we-do/programs-initiatives/legal-services/clinical-team/">focuses</a> on both naturalization and Deferred Action Childhood Arrival applications, the latter of which allows illegal immigrants to avoid deportations.
<a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_22CICET00277_7003">Another grant</a>, this one for $250,000 and awarded in 2022, went to further “innovations in citizenship education.” A <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_21CICET00204_7003">2021 grant</a> of $250,000 to CHIRLA from DHS went towards instruction and naturalization for non-citizens. The DHS grants date back to 2014, when CHIRLA first <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_2014CS010000034_7051">received $250,000</a> as it worked to naturalize non-citizens.
CHIRLA told The Daily Wire that the funds come “from the USCIS side of DHS, not the enforcement side,” referencing the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Even CHIRLA’s naturalization efforts appear to be ideologically motivated, however. The organization is part of a coalition of nonprofits, previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-soros-backed-organizations-leverage-waves-of-new-immigrants-to-sway-elections">uncovered</a> by The Daily Wire, that works to naturalize citizens and mobilize them as voters to “sway the outcome of national, state, and local elections” while maintaining demographic reports on key swing states.
CHIRLA Executive Director <a href="https://www.chirla.org/who-we-are/our-people/team/">Angelica Salas</a>, who first came to the United States <a href="https://www.unitela.com/angelica-salas">illegally</a> and was deported before being allowed to return as a legal citizen, was previously a<a href="https://partnershipfornewamericans.org/about-npna/our-board-old/"> board member</a> of the National Partnership for New Americans, a George Soros-funded organization that attempts to mobilize new citizens as voters.
The organization is open about its radical stances on immigration, <a href="https://archive.ph/PdAut#selection-2673.81-2673.210">boasting</a> that it uses illegal immigrants to attempt to mobilize voters for leftwing causes. One of CHIRLA’s projects “targets new citizens, Latinos, and English learners to build a voter base from scratch, with enough power to sway state politics.”
“Teams of paid/volunteer canvassers/phone bankers, ranging in status from undocumented to legal permanent residents, work to build a constant culture of voting among these voters,” CHIRLA explains.
The radical organization advocates for amnesty for all illegal immigrants present in the United States and has <a href="https://www.chirla.org/what-we-do/our-priority-issues/just-and-humane-immigration-reform/">called for</a> “immediate immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented people.”
CHIRLA also raises money to give scholarships to immigrant students, specifically saying they <a href="https://www.chirla.org/get-involved/donate-support/wise-up-scholarship-fund/">seek out</a> those who are in the country illegally.
There’s also the <a href="https://chirlafund.org/2024endorsements/">CHIRLA Action Fund</a>, an associated organization that is allowed to support political candidates for office and favors Democrats. Salas also serves as the <a href="https://chirlafund.org/board-staff/">board president</a> for the CHIRLA Action Fund. The CHIRLA Action Fund endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for Senate, as well as the Soros-backed Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon.

Then at the briefing, Biden made it harder for Harris to squirm away from his administration&#8217;s record as she attempts to run as the candidate of change.
“I’m in constant contact with her,” Biden said, adding that &#8220;we’re singing from the same song sheet. She helped pass all the laws that are being employed now.”
“She was a major player in everything we’ve done, including passage of legislation, which we were told we could never pass,” he said. “Her staff is interlocked with mine in terms of all the things we’re doing.”
On Tuesday, Biden counter-programmed Harris for the second time in a week, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-knifes-kamala-for-trying-to-lead-hurricane-response-desantis-doing-a-great-job?topStoryPosition=4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">holding</a> a briefing at the White House on the hurricane at the same time Harris was appearing on &#8220;The View.&#8221;
As hurricane season got underway, Harris slammed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for not taking her phone calls about the impending storm, calling him “utterly irresponsible” and “selfish” and accusing him of playing political games. DeSantis pushed back, saying he was not aware of any calls from Harris and that she has &#8220;no role&#8221; in Florida&#8217;s hurricane response.
Biden posted a photo of himself next to a phone and said he had spoken to both DeSantis and the Tampa mayor about recovery from Hurricane Helene and preparations for Hurricane Milton.

Biden further undermined Harris&#8217; criticism of the governor on Tuesday, saying DeSantis had been &#8220;cooperative&#8221; and was &#8220;doing a great job.&#8221;
The president may have hampered his former running mate yet again leading up to last week&#8217;s massive dock worker strike on the East Coast that snarled supply chains and threatened to tank the economy.
Biden held firm in saying he would not step in and pause the strike, something he could have done under the Taft-Hartley Act. Harris later expressed support for the strike. Biden and Harris may have simply been a united front focused on courting the union vote, but Biden&#8217;s refusal to step in nevertheless limited Harris&#8217; options to save the economy weeks out from the election.
Meanwhile, Harris has struggled to win over voters with her economic message, and polls show voters prefer Trump on the economy.

President Joe Biden appeared confused Thursday when asked by a reporter about aid to states hit by a massive hurricane despite the president having just spent the day in the storm zone.
Biden had just returned from visiting North Carolina, which was hit hardest by Hurricane Helene, with a deluge of water destroying entire communities, including the city of Asheville.
&#8220;What do the states in the storm zone need, Mr. President?&#8221; a reporter asked Biden as he returned to the White House.

Biden announced Thursday that up to 1,000 active-duty soldiers would join the North Carolina National Guard in delivering food, water, and supplies to communities cut off by the storm.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Thursday that the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) has funding for immediate needs but will run out before the end of the hurricane season. FEMA has requested more money from Congress, he said.
Vice President Kamala Harris said FEMA has been providing $750 to people for &#8220;immediate needs&#8221; like baby formula.
The Biden administration&#8217;s response to the storm has sparked anger among critics, who pointed out that FEMA <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-rips-into-kamala-for-spending-fema-money-on-housing-for-illegal-migrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> $1.4 billion on housing illegal migrants over the last two years.
Former President Donald Trump ripped into the administration&#8217;s response during his rally in Michigan on Thursday, accusing Biden and Harris of the “worst response in the history of hurricanes.”
&#8220;If you want to see how sick and distorted Kamala Harris’ priorities are, just consider FEMA,” Trump said. “Now we have a horrific disaster in North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and Virginia. And the Harris-Biden administration says they don’t have any money … they spent it all on illegal migrants.”
