<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/balenciaga">Balenciaga</a> held its first runway show since the photo shoot scandal that included children holding teddy bears in BDSM-themed attire.</p>
<p>The fashion house&#8217;s Fall 2023 show in Paris on Sunday was noticeably different, with no celebrity guests or theatrics of any kind, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/06/style/balenciaga-paris.html">The New York Times</a> reported.</p>
<p>The event was held at the old Carrousel du Louvre, in a portion of the museum with plain white spaces. The fashion designer, who goes by the name Demna, went back to just clothing. The items offered included trousers-as-trench coats, puffers, and denim and leather jackets.</p>

<p>The fashion house apologized and said it was taking legal action against its production company in charge of the ad campaign. Later, reports surfaced that Balenciaga had dropped its $25 million lawsuit against the producers of the fetish-themed shoot, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/12/03/balenciaga-drops-25m-lawsuit-against-producers-of-disturbing-campaign/">New York Post</a> noted.</p>
<p>In December, Demna issued an apology in a since-deleted statement on <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/12/02/balenciaga-designer-demna-addresses-bdsm-ad-scandal-apologizes/">Instagram</a>, saying, &#8220;I want to personally apologize for the wrong artistic choice of concept for the gifting campaign with the kids and I take my responsibility.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;It was inappropriate to have kids promote objects that had nothing to do with them.&#8221;</p>

<p>During the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kim-kardashian" target="_blank" rel="noopener">42-year-old</a> reality star&#8217;s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5pBkYb0jSw">appearance</a> on the &#8220;Angie Martinez IRL Podcast,&#8221; the &#8220;Keeping Up With The Kardashians&#8221; alum said on Monday that even after she spoke out against the fashion house’s BDSM-themed ad involving children, people were still upset with her, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kim-kardashian-responds-balenciaga-backlash-theyre-mad-if-i-dont-speak-out-theyre-mad-if-i-do" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> reported. She said there&#8217;s no winning when it comes to cancel culture.</p>

<p>The fashion brand, which celebrities like Kim Kardashian often wear, came under fire last month after its website displayed images featuring its “Toy Stories” campaign that showed child models posing with the brand’s teddy bear handbags, with the bears dressed in BDSM-themed attire from its Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 collection.</p>
<p>&#8220;For them to think that it&#8217;s appropriate to put children in a situation that we have seen much less for a campaign for their brand is disgusting,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>&#8220;It was not a mistake,&#8221; Aldean continued. &#8220;They have shown us who they are. It&#8217;s disgusting. It&#8217;s evil. And the common denominator here is that we have to stand up. We have to fight for our children.&#8221;</p>
<p>Brittany concluded by insisting the backlash isn&#8217;t about &#8220;religion&#8221; or politics but &#8220;protecting the children at all costs.&#8221;</p>

Instead, Balenciaga is choosing to donate to organizations focused on protecting children. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The brand’s president and CEO Cedric Charbit said Balenciaga has put aside a &#8220;significant fund&#8221; for grants and has added new control measures to ensure a situation like that never happens again. He also claimed to have “reorganized” the entire image department in the wake of the scandal.</span></p>

<p>NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Demonstrators gathered outside Balenciaga boutiques and retailers in several cities on Saturday to protest the fashion brand&#8217;s controversial ad campaign featuring children holding teddy bears donning BDSM-themed attire.</p>
<p>The protests occurred in 20 cities — including New York, Beverly Hills, London, and Nashville &#8211; where participants slammed the fashion house for promoting the sexual exploitation of children, according to organizers. <span style="font-weight: 400;">Mom Army, in association with groups such as Dad Army, Freedom Forever, and Gays Against Groomers, planned the demonstrations outside Balenciaga flagship stores and other high-end retailers that carry the brand.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;We are mothers, we are consumers, and we are taking a stand: stop putting profit over our children,” </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lucy Riles, an organizer with Mom Army, told The Daily Wire at a Nashville protest. She said she was “fed up with the sexualization, exploitation, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">indoctrination, child mutilation, and all these agendas that are happening right now in this country and the climate.”</span></p>
<p>The French fashion brand, which celebrities like Kim Kardashian often wear, came under fire last month after its website displayed images featuring its “Toy Stories” campaign that showed child models posing with the brand’s teddy bear handbags, with the bears dressed in BDSM-themed gear from its Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Such images contained children holding plush toys dressed in such gear, including fishnet tops, studded leather harnesses, and collars with locks.</p>

<p>Another image displayed documents from a 2008 Supreme Court opinion, <em>United States vs. Williams</em> — a federal statute prohibiting the “pandering” of child pornography, which reaffirmed the PROTECT Act, a federal law that increased penalties for sexual exploitation and other abuse of children.</p>
<p>Balenciaga has acknowledged the ongoing scandal, saying last Monday that it could have “done things differently.” The company says it “strongly condemns child abuse; it was never our intent to include it in our narrative.” It also said it is taking steps to prevent something similar from happening again.</p>
<p>Balenciaga creative director Demna has also issued a public apology, accepting responsibility for choosing the &#8220;wrong artistic choice of concept&#8221; in the brand&#8217;s recent controversial campaign. &#8220;It was inappropriate to have kids promote objects that had nothing to do with them,&#8221; Demna wrote <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Clq0hwtN4bS/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in an Instagram statement Friday</a>.</p>
<p>Outrage against Balenciaga has remained.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Landon Starbuck, the wife of former congressional candidate Robby Starbuck, is the leader of a Nashville-based conservative non-profit called Freedom Forever. She told The Daily Wire that America “won’t tolerate” the “sexualization” of children, adding,</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “Exploiting children is not fashionable, and that’s why we’re all here today.”</span></p>
<p>Another protester named Chrissy, known online as &#8220;Trans for Trump,&#8221; insisted, &#8220;My community is not in unison with the message that&#8217;s being sent out here,&#8221; reiterating support for the Balenciaga protests.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“What is being perpetuated out there now is harming children, it&#8217;s harming my community, it’s harming society,&#8221; said Chrissy. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Several cars that drove past the Nashville demonstration honked their horns in support of the organizers&#8217; message. There were a few disruptions during the event, but everyone remained peaceful.</span></p>

<p>Two Beverly Hills storefronts near the Balenciaga store on Rodeo Drive were covered in graffiti criticizing the latest advertisements seen in photos obtained by the New York Post.</p>
<p>On one of the storefront&#8217;s glass windows, large stick-figure children were drawn with two messages, reading, &#8220;Children r not sexual objects&#8221; and &#8220;Not 4 sex!!!&#8221;</p>
<p>Another Balenciaga store in London also saw vandalism on Tuesday.</p>
<p>A street artist named Joe Bloggs allegedly wrote &#8220;paedophilia&#8221; at least three times on the outside glass window.</p>
<p>&#8220;I did it due to the abhorrent photoshoots Balenciaga did and their associations with various … people including Lotta Volkova,&#8221; Bloggs told <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/balenciaga-pedophilia-london-protest-vandals-1763023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Newsweek,</a> referring to a fashion stylist linked to the designer label.</p>

<p>Volkova came under fire recently following the fashion company&#8217;s controversy after some people dug up the content of former and current Balenciaga staff, including the stylist&#8217;s personal Instagram account.</p>
<p>Volkova allegedly removed four separate posts that portrayed scenes of violence and Satanic images, and made her account private after the content resurfaced.</p>
<p>A spokesperson for Volkova told <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/balenciaga-fashion-lotta-volkova-controversy-instagram-1762772" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Newsweek</a> that &#8220;she condemns the abuse of children in any form.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Lotta Volkova has not worked with Balenciaga or its team since 2018, and she has in no way participated in the brand&#8217;s recent Instagram or advertising campaigns,&#8221; the spokesperson said.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/megyn-kelly-gets-emotional-on-air-after-revealing-major-loss-in-her-family" target="_blank" rel="noopener">former Fox News host</a> started by reading the statement that Kardashian finally released stating that she had been quiet for a few days because she wanted a chance to speak to the team to find out &#8220;how this could&#8217;ve happened.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Who gives a s*** how it happened,&#8221; Kelly replied. &#8220;Just put out a statement, &#8216;It’s deeply wrong and I will speak with them. But this is effed up.&#8217; It&#8217;s really not that hard. She&#8217;s too busy trying to get criminals out of jail.&#8221;</p>

<p>Kelly noted how the reality star has also shared how she was &#8220;disgusted&#8221; with the ad and was &#8220;re-evaluating&#8221; her relationship with the brand, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kim-kardashian-slammed-for-statement-over-balenciaga-scandal-there-is-no-grey-area-here" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.</p>
<p>&#8220;You were part of it,&#8221; the host blasted. &#8220;You wore the stupid black veil. You put your kids in Balenciaga. You&#8217;ve been seeing them [Balenciaga] with the teddy bears. They did the thing with the Supreme Court opinion. They did the thing with the little girls. Like, what do you mean re-evaluating? What is to re-evaluate? They&#8217;re sorry.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;They are sorry now because people like you [Boller] made a thing of it and it&#8217;s become a PR nightmare for them,&#8221; she added. &#8220;She [Kardashian] launched her career with a sex tape, which she then pretended was released against her will. But her partner in that video has come out publicly saying that they worked on it together and Kris Jenner marketed it like a pimp.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The country&#8217;s made her [Kardashian] a billionaire, and she can&#8217;t be bothered to do the right thing when the circumstances are staring her dead in the face,&#8221; the former Fox News host continued. &#8220;She&#8217;s exploited her own children, just the same way her mother exploited her. And now, she doesn&#8217;t see the ethical lines … and I don&#8217;t think Balenciaga is gonna get away with this. I think the blowback will continue and if this is a PR stunt, they&#8217;ll soon be out of business.&#8221;</p>
<p>Boller agreed, and said &#8220;The Kardashians&#8221; star &#8220;thought that this would go away&#8221; and &#8220;she could enjoy her Thanksgiving with her family, and it&#8217;s not going away.&#8221;</p>

<p>The Business of Fashion announced in a statement Monday afternoon that they were revoking a top award that they gave to Balenciaga&#8217;s creative director over Balenciaga&#8217;s recent scandal involving young children who appeared in a photo shoot with &#8220;BDSM-inspired products.&#8221;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kim-kardashian-slammed-for-statement-over-balenciaga-scandal-there-is-no-grey-area-here">Balenciaga</a>, which celebrities like Kim Kardashian often wear, displayed images on its website last week as part of its “Toy Stories” campaign. The photos showed child models posing with the brand’s teddy bear handbags, with the bears dressed in BDSM-themed gear from its Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 collection.</p>
<p>&#8220;Since its inception, BoF VOICES has been a platform for important, honest and sometimes uncomfortable conversations that have helped to address key issues in the fashion industry head on,&#8221; Business of Fashion said in a statement. &#8220;Earlier this year, we invited Balenciaga&#8217;s creative director Demna to BoF VOICES to receive our Global VOICES Award for 2022.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;At BoF, we hold the safety of children in the highest regard,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;And like many, we have been seeking the truth about how children appeared with BDSM-inspired products in Balenciaga&#8217;s recent campaign images, which are wholly inconsistent with our values. As a result, we will not be presenting Demna with the Global VOICES Award this year.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Nonetheless, we asked the leadership at Balenciaga to come to VOICES to take responsibility for releasing these images and offer an explanation,&#8221; the statement concluded. &#8220;They declined our invitation to speak at this time, but BoF remains open to having this important conversation.&#8221;</p>

<p>Balenciaga responded to the ongoing scandal on Monday by saying that it could have “done things differently.”</p>
<p>The company said it “strongly condemns child abuse; it was never our intent to include it in our narrative” and the two separate ad campaigns represented “a series of grievous errors.”</p>
<p>“The first campaign, the gift collection campaign, featured children with plush bear bags dressed in what some have labelled BDSM- inspired outfits,” the statement said. “Our plush bear bags and the gift collection should not have been featured with children. This was a wrong choice by Balenciaga, combined with our failure in assessing and validating images. The responsibility for this lies with Balenciaga alone.”</p>
<p>“The second, separate campaign for Spring 2023, which was meant to replicate a business office environment, included a photo with a page in the background from a Supreme Court ruling ‘United States v. Williams’ 2008 which confirms as illegal and not protected by freedom of speech the promotion of child pornography,” the statement continued. “All the items included in this shooting were provided by third parties that confirmed in writing that these props were fake office documents. They turned out to be real legal papers most likely coming from the filming of a television drama. The inclusion of these unapproved documents was the result of reckless negligence for which Balenciaga has filed a complaint. We take full accountability for our lack of oversight and control of the documents in the background and we could have done things differently.”</p>
<p>Balenciaga said it took several steps to correct what happened so it doesn’t happen again, including revising work and approval processes and working with organizations that “specialize in child protection and aims at ending child abuse and exploitation.”</p>

Leading Fashion Industry Publication Revokes Top Award From Balenciaga After Child Photo Shoot Scandal

<p>&#8220;The View&#8221; cohosts admitted they couldn&#8217;t even show the Balenciaga &#8220;fetish themed&#8221; ad on their show Monday during a discussion about the fashion house&#8217;s marketing campaign featuring children holding teddy bears that were wearing bondage gear.</p>
<p>During a panel discussion on the <a href="https://twitter.com/TheView/status/1597292992473309186?s=20&amp;t=dFXgU6DPA8O_zYzIHnRyPg">ABC daytime talk show,</a> Joy Behar talked about how the the fashion company &#8220;is under fire&#8221; for its BDSM-themed ad sexualizing children as her cohosts called them &#8220;distasteful.&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/balenciaga-apologizes-for-advertisement-showcasing-minors-holding-bdsm-teddy-bear-purses">Balenciaga</a> has apologized and has blamed the production company, which they are <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/balenciaga-suing-production-company-25-155314719.html">suing</a>, for the ad.</p>
<p>&#8220;I found this ad campaign particularly distasteful in this moment,&#8221; Alyssa Farah Griffin explained.</p>
<p>&#8220;Yeah,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-view-host-claims-jesus-would-be-the-grand-marshal-at-the-pride-parade">Sunny Hostin</a> replied. &#8220;I mean, we can&#8217;t even show the picture because it&#8217;s so distasteful. But what&#8217;s also very distasteful is Balenciaga lately, I mean, their stuff is just ugly. I mean the bag that that little girl is holding is ugly. Do you remember when Kim [Kardashian] was dressed in Balenciaga for the Met Gala.&#8221;</p>
<p>The clip then went to a snap of the reality star covered head to toe in a black outfit, and Hostin remarked that Kardashian &#8220;looked like a bat.&#8221;</p>

<p>Ana Navarro asked how Balenciaga could now &#8220;sue somebody when they designed a bag for their holiday season.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The bag is shaped like a teddy bear wearing bondage gear,&#8221; Navarro added. &#8220;Now, it takes hundreds of people in a fashion house like Balenciaga to approve a design. To approve an ad campaign. So, I&#8217;m sorry you guys, I know you&#8217;re trying to cover your a**, but you got bigger problems then&#8230; you got to look inside your house, because you&#8217;ve got people who are not doing their job well. Who have no damn common sense.&#8221;</p>
<p>At one point, the cohosts talked about how Kardashian has since spoken out about the ad and said it might be time to re-evaluate her relationship with the fashion house, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kim-kardashian-slammed-for-statement-over-balenciaga-scandal-there-is-no-grey-area-here">reported</a>.</p>
<p>&#8220;As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images,&#8221; Kardashian shared previously.  &#8220;The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I appreciate Balenciaga&#8217;s removal of the campaigns and apology,&#8221; she added. &#8220;In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again. As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with — &amp; the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children.&#8221;</p>
<p>The fashion house apologized and is taking legal action against its production company, Hostin noted.  She then shared that the set designer released a statement saying &#8220;everyone&#8221; at Balenciaga was on the shoot&#8221; and &#8220;worked on the edit of every image.&#8221;</p>
