"The Babylon Bee" has changed the world

The Babylon Bee is a popular satirical website that comments on current events, politics, religion, and culture. “The Bee,” as the site is sometimes referred to, generally writes its satirical commentary through a Christian lens. The Bee describes itself as “the world’s best satire site, totally inerrant in all its truth claims.” It asserts that it “write[s] satire about Christian stuff, political stuff, and everyday life.” The Bee’s fuller description bespeaks its humorous, lighthearted website tone: “The Babylon Bee was created ex nihilo on the eighth day of the creation week, exactly 6,000 years ago. We have been the premier news source through every major world event, from the Tower of Babel and the Exodus to the Reformation and the War of 1812. We focus on just the facts, leaving spin and bias to other news sites like CNN and Fox News. If you would like to complain about something on our site, take it up with God.”
The Babylon Bee was created in 2016 by Adam Ford. Seth Dillon serves as CEO and Kyle Mann serves as editor-in-chief. The Bee operates in a similar fashion to the well-known satirical website The Onion, and has oftentimes been described as a Christian version of it. The Bee has been in an ongoing feud with left-leaning fact check site Snopes.com, which routinely attempts to fact check the Bee despite its transparently satirical nature.
What content does The Babylon Bee produce? The Babylon Bee is a popular Christian-themed satirical website that posts lighthearted and humorous commentary on current events, politics, religion, and culture. The Bee’s commentary takes the tone and format of traditional journalistic commentary, but it is clearly satirical in its underlying content. The Bee has published a satirical spinoff book, “How to Be a Perfect Christian: Your Comprehensive Guide to Flawless Spiritual Living.”
How old is The Babylon Bee? The Babylon Bee launched on March 1, 2016.
Why are Snopes and The Babylon Bee hostile? Left-leaning fact check website Snopes.com has rated numerous Babylon Bee articles “false” when, in fact, the underlying articles were clearly satirical. Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon has appeared on TV to discuss Snopes’ hostility to the Bee; Dillon has explained how such antics could harm the Bee’s reputation and profitability when it comes to such metrics as Facebook advertising algorithms. In August 2019, Snopes debuted a new ranking category, “labeled satire,” largely as a means of attempting a detente with the Bee.
