A woman filed a lawsuit alleging that her unborn child died as a result of her attending Travis Scott’s deadly Astroworld concert.
Shanazia Williamson and her husband Jarawd Owens of Dayton, Ohio, were expecting a child when they attended the event in early November. The couple has filed a lawsuit against Scott along with concert promoters Live Nation and ScoreMore, plus security company Valle Services SMG, ASM Global, and the Harris County Sports and Convention corporation, Rolling Stone <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/astroworld-pregnancy-wrongful-death-lawsuit-1265989/">reported</a>.
The suit was filed in December but was not previously reported. A court filing listed 11 deaths when that number had originally been 10, which led to questioning the attorneys in the case, per <a href="https://abc13.com/11th-astroworld-victim-travis-scott-lawsuit-shanazia-williamson-pregnant-woman-crushed/11841830/">ABC 13</a>. 
“While in attendance at the festival, Shanazia was trampled and crushed resulting in horrific injuries and ultimately the death of her and Jarawd’s unborn child,” the text of the lawsuit states. “In addition, Shanazia sustained injuries to her shoulder, back, leg, chest, stomach and other parts of her body.”
“Defendants’ failure to plan, design, manage, operate, staff, and supervise the event was a direct and proximate cause of Shanazia’s injuries and death of her and Jarawd’s unborn child,” it reads. 
The lawsuit also claims that the defendants offered inadequate security and medical personnel, and did not properly plan for safety hazards, among other allegations. It is unclear from the lawsuit how long after the festival Williamson miscarried or how far along into her pregnancy she was at the time.
This wrongful death claim is one of hundreds of lawsuits from concertgoers. The Astroworld tragedy resulted in the deaths of 10 people at the Houston festival, including a 9-year-old child. More than 70o attendees reported injuries, according to court documents.
Williamson’s claims come at a precarious time for the nation, however, as the question of when life begins has been reignited by the Supreme Court, which may soon overturn Roe v. Wade. Texas has included unborn children as part of wrongful death claim statutes since 2003. This is not true in all states.
Per Rolling Stone, Live Nation and subsidiary ScoreMore along with security provider Contemporary Services Corporation have denied all allegations stated in the lawsuit. Rapper Scott previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/people-pass-out-things-happen-at-concerts-travis-scott-denies-fault-in-first-interview-since-astroworld-tragedy">alleged he did nothing wrong</a> and even tried to stop the show several times when he thought things were getting out of control.
The “Sicko Mode” singer offered to pay for the funerals of concert goers who died after Astroworld, but about half of the families refused the money.

Amid backlash, Hulu pulled a documentary about a Travis Scott music festival that resulted in ten deaths.
Last month, the Astroworld Festival in Houston turned <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/8-confirmed-dead-at-music-festival-after-crowd-surged-toward-stage-during-rapper-travis-scotts-set">fatal</a> when crowds “suddenly surged toward the stage during a performance by rapper Travis Scott, squeezing fans so tightly together that they could not breathe or move their arms,” according to the Associated Press. The youngest victim was a nine-year-old boy who was <a href="https://variety.com/2021/music/news/astroworld-victim-dies-9-year-old-tenth-fatality-1235112127/">kept</a> on life support for several days after the incident.
On Wednesday, however, Hulu posted a 50-minute documentary entitled “Astroworld: Concert From Hell,” which detailed the events surrounding the concert. Also on Wednesday, a tweet assuming that Hulu had produced the documentary gained tens of thousands of likes.
“Hulu making a documentary about Astroworld is in poor taste all around,” it said. “People are still burying their loved ones. The legal cases haven’t even started. Great documentaries are done when all the facts are laid out. Not enough time has passed to fully discuss this.”
As a result, Hulu clarified that it did not produce the film — and stated that it had nevertheless been pulled from the platform.
“This was an investigative local news special from ABC13/KTRK-TV in Houston that originally aired on November 20th,” a Hulu spokesperson told <a href="https://variety.com/2021/digital/news/hulu-pulls-astroworld-concert-from-hell-documentary-backlash-1235124470/">Variety</a>. “This was not a Hulu documentary and has since been removed to avoid confusion.”
An earlier report from CNN <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-was-not-a-concert-this-was-a-fight-for-survival-travis-scott-concertgoers-speak-of-horror-stampede">detailed</a> the chaos felt by concertgoers.
“The crowd became tighter and tighter, and at that point it was hard to breathe. When Travis came out performing his first song, I witnessed people passing out next to me,” said 20-year-old TK Tellez. “We were all screaming for help, and no one helped or heard us. It was horrifying. People were screaming for their lives, and they couldn’t get out. Nobody could move a muscle.”
“Everybody was crying; it was the scariest sound I’ve ever heard. … Imagine listening to Travis Scott and people screaming for their lives at the same time,” he said. “There was just not enough people to help everyone … Travis Scott would have a short time in between songs, and we would scream our vocal chords out so someone could hear us but nobody did. This year’s festival will be stuck with me forever. I’ve never seen someone die in front of my eyes. It was horrific.”
“I picked some kid up and his eyes rolled to the back of his head, so I checked his pulse. I knew he was dead,” explained Billy Nasser, who said he works as a disc jockey. “I checked the people around me. And I just had to leave him there, there was nothing I could do. I had to keep going. … Kids were dropping left and right. … There wasn’t enough security guards and there wasn’t enough EMTs and people helping out the crowd. The paramedics couldn’t even reach the crowd.”
After the tragedy, Nike <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nike-delays-release-of-travis-scott-sneaker-in-light-of-astroworld-tragedy">postponed</a> the release of its planned Travis Scott sneaker line. Scott is also facing a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rapper-travis-scott-facing-multiple-lawsuits-over-astroworld-festival-carnage">deluge</a> of lawsuits, which also name rapper Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, as well as Live Nation and NRG Stadium.

Amid Backlash, Hulu Pulls Documentary About Deadly Travis Scott Concert

Athletic gear giant Nike announced Monday that it is postponing the release of a planned Travis Scott shoe in a show of sensitivity to those who were killed or injured at the rapper’s Astroworld music festival on November 5.
&#8220;Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,&#8221; the company said in a statement sent out to fans via its sneaker release app, &#8220;SNKRS.”
The company had announced the Nike x Travis Scott Air Max 270 “Cactus Trails” last year, showcasing a “vintage” design that featured a well-used look with what it called a &#8220;back-from-the-future&#8221; aesthetic. The shoe would have come in a variety of colors, with Nike’s classic swoosh logo reversed.
Ten people have now died as a result of crowds stampeding to the front of the arena during Scott’s performance, the youngest, only 9 years old.
A local fire chief has said the safety crew&#8217;s inability to reach struggling concert-goers sparked panic, and security was overwhelmed by the fan surge. According to eyewitnesses, the show continued for about 40 minutes after initial reports that people were being hurt reached first responders.
As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/travis-scott-had-a-history-of-mocking-injured-concertgoers-before-deadly-astroworld-incident">reported</a>, Scott had a history of making light of injuries at his concerts:
<blockquote>“TO THE KID THAT DIDNT SURVIVE THE RODEO. UR A HERO IN MU BOOK,” Scott wrote in a caption underneath a photo of a young man who passed out during Scott’s 2015 concert with Young Thug at Webster Hall in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan. The photo was posted the day after the show. Just before that photo was posted, a video of Scott performing his song “Quintana in NYC” was posted to his page, with the caption “BEFORE A KID PASS OUT,” seemingly referring to the unconscious fan.
Another photo posted to Instagram several weeks after showed another fan passed out at the final concert of Scott’s 2015 tour. “Last day of tour was tonight very wild. To that kid who blackout. Ur a hero,” Scott captioned the post. Scott seemingly had a trend of calling the unconscious or injured fans “heroes.” Scott posted another picture in 2014, screencapped by TMZ, of a fan passed out at a show, with the simple caption, “WTF.” As of the publishing of the New York Post piece, the photos were still available on Scott’s Instagram page. As of the publishing of this article, they have been removed.
Scott also posted images of injured fans with captions. “SHE BROKE HER HAND AND SHE DOESN’T GIVE A F***!!!” read one caption. “IT’S NOT A SHOW UNTIL SOMEONE PASS OUT,” read another. Another image screencapped by the Post shows a young man smiling while bleeding from his eye, with the caption, “I love u.”</blockquote>
Multiple <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rapper-travis-scott-facing-multiple-lawsuits-over-astroworld-festival-carnage">lawsuits</a> have already been filed against Scott, promoter Live Nation, and the venue, NRG Park. Houston police are investigating. But because the department was responsible for some crowd control duties at the festival, some are <a href="https://www.chron.com/news/article/Astroworld-Travis-Scott-crowd-surge-investigation-16624562.php">calling for</a> an independent probe.

Houston police are walking back a claim that a security guard at Astroworld was injected with drugs after saying he felt a prick in his neck.
Buzzfeed <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/nicolefallert/astroworld-security-guard-not-injected-needle">reported</a> that Houston Police Chief Troy Finner told reporters on Wednesday that the security guard had actually been hit in the head, not pricked in the neck, as he had said over the weekend. He also said the security guard had not been injected with drugs. A Houston police spokesperson told Buzzfeed that the original misinformation was due to what officers had been told by medical staff at the festival, but speaking to the actual security guard led to the truth.
&#8220;Members of the medical team said that a male security guard had come in and said that somebody had pricked his neck,&#8221; Finner <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGK9dzZwHwU">told</a> reporters. &#8220;We felt that it could have been something ingested. We did locate this security guard. His story is not consistent with that. He says he was struck in his head. He went unconscious. He woke up in the security tent. He says that no one injected drugs in him.&#8221;
Finner had originally told reporters on Saturday, after the Astroworld tragedy, that the security guard had been injected with drugs. As the Houston Chronicle <a href="https://archive.md/JcORs">reported</a>:
The <a href="https://archive.md/o/JcORs/https:/www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Astroworld-one-of-the-10-deadliest-concerts-in-16597926.php">mass casualty event</a> is now a criminal investigation involving police homicide and narcotics divisions, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said. Some people were trampled, and autopsy reports are being conducted, according to law enforcement officials. 
 The chief also <a href="https://archive.md/o/JcORs/https:/www.houstonchronicle.com/lifestyle/article/Social-media-posts-show-fans-begging-to-stop-the-16598071.php">addressed swirling narratives about nefarious drug activity</a> at the event, but urged caution in rushing to assess those claims. He confirmed, however, that one security officer went unconscious after feeling a prick in his neck during the melee. He was revived after medical authorities administered Narcan, or Naloxone, and they discovered a prick similar to what one would expect from an injection, Finner said.
As Buzzfeed noted, Finner’s original statements about the needle prick “fed into already heightened concerns over ‘<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/22/world/europe/needle-spiking-uk.html">needle spiking</a>,’ the act of administering drugs into someone&#8217;s body via a needle, rather than slipping drugs into a drink.”
“After the chief made the initial statements about the security guard, rumors spread across social media. TMZ also claimed that &#8216;someone in the crowd went crazy and began injecting people with some sort of drug&#8217; and suggested that this may have led to deaths. But, in spite of all the video and social media posts from people in the crowd, there&#8217;s been no evidence that this happened. None of the 50,000 people who attended the music festival have spoken publicly about any needle spiking,” the outlet added.

The Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/travis-scott-astroworld-dead-injured-crowd-surge-6c697502318c50ba4b57aa1c6f71f9bf">reported</a> that the crowd “suddenly surged toward the stage during a performance by rapper Travis Scott, squeezing fans so tightly together that they could not breathe or move their arms and killing eight people in the chaos” with many others hospitalized.
