A South Carolina Democrat is facing calls to withdraw from the governor’s race after a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY5fKGke_W8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a> surfaced showing him screaming obscenities at police officers during a narcotics episode.
Dashcam footage shows William McLeod swearing and yelling at officers for nearly 20 minutes in the back of the cop car, calling himself “god” and “superman,” and using the n-word twice.
The video circulated online after it was obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/14/us-news/wild-video-shows-dems-pick-for-sc-gov-race-being-arrested-in-his-underwear-while-calling-himself-god-and-superman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>.
McLeod is currently the only Democratic runner for the 2026 South Carolina gubernatorial race. The prominent Charleston lawyer ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2010 and has served two terms as the Charleston County Democratic Party Chairman.
His party has requested that he withdraw from the race.
“After reviewing the transcript of the dash cam footage from his recent arrest, it is clear that Mr. McLeod is navigating profound challenges and should focus on his mental and emotional well-being instead of a campaign for governor,” the chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Christale Spain, said in a statement Wednesday.
“We offer him compassion and pray he finds the support he needs.”
But McLeod has shown no intent of backing down. His campaign team labeled the arrest “unlawful.” McLeod himself has touted the incident as a reason why he should be elected.
“When they learn what happened around my unlawful arrest, it will be a reason why I absolutely need to be our state’s governor,” he said.
He did not elaborate as to why.
McLeod was arrested on May 15 after he was found “yelling at the top of his lungs” while walking near the Battery in Charleston in only his underwear and shoes.
McLeod’s eyes were “extremely bloodshot and highly dilated … typical of an individual under the influence of a stimulant narcotic,” a preliminary incident <a href="https://www.counton2.com/news/local-news/south-carolina-democratic-party-calls-for-mullins-mcleod-to-exit-governors-race-following-release-of-arrest-video/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> obtained by WCBD said.
When an officer asked for his name, McLeod replied, “It doesn’t matter, my friend, trust me. I’m one of the most just humans to ever walk this soil.”
“Superman works,” he added.
He also launched a tirade against one of his Republican opponents, Alan Wilson, the current Attorney General of South Carolina. “I will kick your teeth in … I’m going to kick every one of them in. If I do kick them in, you don’t know any dentist.”
He also seemingly threatened to kidnap Wilson’s German Shepherd: “When I’m governor, Snoop is coming with me,” he said.
It is unclear where the name Snoop came from. Wilson has a German Shepherd named <a href="https://www.facebook.com/AGAlanWilson/photos/a.512888925463554/2003104073108691/?type=3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lucy</a>.
McLeod refused to get out of the car when they arrived at the police station, saying he would sleep in the backseat. “No, I’m not doing it, no. I’m not getting out of this car. It’s time to go to bed.” He was forcibly removed and booked into jail around 1 a.m.
He currently faces misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct.
He claimed that he had been exercising his “God-given, constitutional right to be in a public place” when he was arrested.
“The only thing I’d ask the voters is to please give me a little bit of grace and know that long before we go to Election Day, they’ll know exactly what happened,” he <a href="https://www.postandcourier.com/politics/south-carolina-mullins-mcleod-governor-2026/article_2cd1ea51-360d-4153-9497-e3428c7c37f3.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told the Post and Courier</a>.
Wilson <a href="https://www.counton2.com/news/local-news/south-carolina-democratic-party-calls-for-mullins-mcleod-to-exit-governors-race-following-release-of-arrest-video/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> to McLeod’s threats in a statement on Wednesday, saying, “I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he means in a general election, not a street fight,” Wilson said.
He preferred to focus on his campaign rather than on McLeod’s remarks: “My plan for bold, conservative leadership is spreading, and my record of defending President Trump, parental rights, and the rule of law has put a target on my back. But we’re not slowing down, and I’m not done fighting for South Carolina families.”

&#8220;ICE Saint Paul has arrested a citizen of Honduras who was convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;ICE Buffalo arrested a citizen of Ecuador who has been convicted of rape. ICE Boston arrested a citizen of the Dominican Republic who has a criminal conviction for second-degree murder. This criminal was convicted of murder for beating his pregnant wife to death in front of her five-year-old son.&#8221;
&#8220;And ICE Saint Paul also arrested a citizen of Mexico who was convicted of possessing pornographic material of a minor on a work computer,&#8221; she added. &#8220;These are the heinous individuals that this administration is removing from American communities every single day and to the brave, state and local law enforcement officers, CBP and ICE agents who are helping in the facilitation of this deportation operation.&#8221;

Federal law enforcement arrested Democrat D.C. Councilmember Trayon White Sr. over the weekend in an upscale part of Washington, D.C.
The Washington Post reported that nearly a dozen FBI agents were spotted at a luxury apartment complex in Navy Yard — where rents for studio units start at more than $2,000 a month — carrying battering rams used to break down doors.
There was no information available about the charges that he was arrested on, but a judge is expected to unseal the indictment at his arraignment in court on Monday.
The two-term Democrat who represents Ward 8 in Southeast Washington was on track to win a third term, The Post reported.

While no information is available about his charges, The Post noted that problems started to emerge during his primary race this summer when information emerged about campaign finance issues from his previous two campaigns.
&#8220;Earlier this year, the office fined White $40,000, writing that the committees for his 2022 mayoral campaign and 2020 reelection campaign had, at various points, failed to provide requested documentation to correct discrepancies involving thousands of dollars of reported expenditures and contributions,&#8221; the report said. &#8220;That included $58,000 from his mayoral campaign that the campaign finance office said was not properly accounted for.&#8221;
White garnered national attention in 2018 when he said in a social media post that Jewish bankers control the weather around the world so that they can gain control of cities.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced on Thursday that it had arrested the fugitive at the top of the state&#8217;s &#8220;10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List.&#8221;
Victor Hugo Chox Gonzalez, 38, was arrested by DPS Special Agents in Fort Worth. Originally from Mexico, he was wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact. Chox Gonzalez was booked in the Tarrant County Jail.
DPS notes that those on the &#8220;Most Wanted&#8221; list are considered armed and dangerous.

On Saturday, climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained twice by police in the Netherlands for joining other activists who were intending to block The Hague&#8217;s A12 highway, five years after she warned the European Parliament regarding climate change, “I want you to panic.”
After being detained by police, Thunberg was released, joined activists blocking a different road that led to the railway station, then was detained again and transported in a police van, Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/climate-activist-greta-thunberg-detained-demonstration-hague-2024-04-06/" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/climate-activist-greta-thunberg-detained-demonstration-hague-2024-04-06/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1712672342744000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2KmZvVhQPT8GpmB3KVeKFf">reported</a>. She was released several hours later.

A former beauty queen in Bolivia has been arrested on suspicion of gun trafficking and is under investigation in a drug case involving her boyfriend, who is on the run.
Alondra Mercado Campos, 22, was crowned Miss Charm Bolivia in 2023 and Miss Bolivia Mundo in 2020, but she now faces arms trafficking charges after a police raid on her home found a large cache of firearms and ammunition, according to local <a href="https://www.semana.com/gente/articulo/alondra-mercado-la-ex-reina-de-belleza-que-fue-enviada-a-la-carcel-tras-ser-imputada-por-trafico-de-armas/202315/">reports</a>, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/12/27/news/former-miss-bolivia-arrested-on-gun-trafficking-charges/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social">New York Post</a> reported.
Local prosecutor Gerardo Balderas said Campos and her boyfriend, identified as Andres Vasquez, were seen on cell phone videos at numerous parties with the arms recovered in the November raid.
Campos remains behind bars in Trinidad Women&#8217;s Prison after a judge ruled that the former beauty queen is a flight risk and should be held for 30 days in pre-trial detention.

Her boyfriend, Vasquez, went on the run in late November and is wanted for alleged drug trafficking.

An adult male guest at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disneyland-will-host-first-ever-pride-nite-during-after-dark-series" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Disneyland</a> was arrested on Sunday after he stripped down fully naked and caused havoc in the California park during the Thanksgiving holiday — boarding a boat on the &#8220;It&#8217;s A Small World&#8221; ride before he was apprehended and removed from the property.
Anaheim Police Department spokesperson Jonathan McClintock told <a href="https://people.com/man-arrested-for-stripping-nude-on-disneyland-s-it-s-a-small-world-ride-8406844" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People magazine</a> that officers &#8220;responded to Disneyland to assist Disney security with a guest who removed his clothes and was naked in or near the &#8216;It&#8217;s a Small World&#8217; attraction.&#8221;
&#8220;Upon officers&#8217; arrival, they arrested a 26-year-old man for indecent exposure and for being under the influence of a controlled substance,&#8221; McClintock added, noting that the guest was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

One Disneyland Resort representative told <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/11/disneyland-park-guest-arrested-stripping-off-clothes-its-a-small-world-ride-1235637920/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a> that the guest got off the attraction while it was in motion and said that once park operators became aware of the situation, they stopped the ride.

&#8220;We noticed he started climbing onto the different parts of the ride, and we noticed that he was undressed,&#8221; Carmona told <a href="https://ew.com/disneyland-small-world-naked-rider-8406696" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Weekly.</a>
&#8220;He just looked out of it,&#8221; she added.  &#8220;He just didn&#8217;t look like he knew where he was. He looked worried. My friends and I had seen him, and it looked like he was going to jump on us.&#8221;

A 35-year-old Washington woman allegedly told authorities she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identifies</a> as a 15-year-old boy after she was arrested for harboring runaway teens and accused of providing them with drugs and alcohol and sexting them.
Amanda Dorrough was charged with unlawful harboring of minors earlier this month after police said they discovered Dorrough planned to flee Seattle with a group of teenagers, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/grown-woman-who-identifies-as-15-year-old-boy-faces-wild-claims-of-drugs-sexting-with-teen-runaways-police">reported</a>. The adult woman was arrested on May 4 after the vice principal at Port Angeles High School, northwest of Seattle, reportedly contacted police after two students revealed their plan to run away with Dorrough, who went by the nickname “Taz” with the group of teens.
Dorrough, who the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12124585/Woman-35-arrested-harboring-runaway-children.html">reports</a> is a mother of three children, allegedly told Clallam County Jail staff that she identifies as a 15-year-old boy.
“She feels like teenagers ‘understand’ her better&#8221; and that &#8220;she ‘identifies’ better with teenage kids,” the report said.
Police found Dorrough in a gully with a boy amid a heap of blankets, &#8220;two empty condom packets, one unopened condom, a bra, and an empty cigarette packet with a lighter,&#8221; according to the police report. At least 10 different incident reports received by police allegedly involved Borrough and her relationship with minors.

Neighbors reportedly called the police after witnessing minors enter and leave Dorrough’s apartment regularly. One neighbor also said the adult woman was seen topless in the hallway with a boy who appeared to be around 13 years old, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/grown-woman-who-identifies-as-15-year-old-boy-faces-wild-claims-of-drugs-sexting-with-teen-runaways-police">according</a> to the report. Police also said that Dorrough was kicked out of a Boys and Girls Club over “perceived ‘predatory’ behavior.&#8221;
When police arrived at the woman’s apartment on May 2, two days before her arrest, they spotted three teenagers running through the parking lot away from Dorrough’s apartment. One officer reportedly heard movement inside Dorrough’s apartment, but police were unable to talk to anyone inside.

The police report — which was first <a href="https://mynorthwest.com/3889164/rantz-pedophile-ish-adult-woman-identifies-15-year-old-boy-per-police-report/">reported</a> by radio host Jason Rantz — alleges that the adult woman got naked in front of minors, touched one inappropriately, and gave them marijuana. One of Dorrough’s alleged victims reportedly told authorities that the 35-year-old woman was “pedophile-ish.” When one of the minors told Dorrough he wasn’t interested in her, she <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12124585/Woman-35-arrested-harboring-runaway-children.html">allegedly</a> got upset and said she would kill herself.
Dorrough was not charged with any sexual offenses and was released on bond on May 14, just 10 days after her arrest.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dallas-zoo-monkeys-go-missing-recovered-by-police-latest-in-a-string-of-critter-capers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pair of monkeys stolen</a> from the Dallas Zoo.
Dallas police made the announcement at a press conference Friday. The suspect, who was reportedly the same person police were looking for Tuesday, is charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. The monkeys, a pair of emperor tamarins named Bella and Finn, were stolen early Tuesday, but were found and returned the same day.
&#8220;On Thursday night, Dallas police arrested Davion Irvin, 24, in connection with the emperor tamarin monkey case here at the Dallas Zoo,&#8221; DPD spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said at the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1HJCbxD-c8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a>. &#8220;Preliminary investigation and help from the public identified him as the man we were looking to speak to regarding this case.&#8221;
According to police, they received a tip shortly after posting the suspect&#8217;s photo on social media. That tip said that multiple people had seen the suspect at a vacant house in nearby Lancaster, where the monkeys were later found. That house had caught the attention of neighbors because it had been previously broken into and animals had been found inside, the <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2023/02/03/arrest-made-in-connection-with-2-monkeys-taken-from-dallas-zoo-police-say/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dallas Morning News</a> reported. Police responded to the tip and found the house unlocked and unoccupied. Officers found the tamarins, as well as several cats and pigeons, inside.
The suspect appeared to have thoroughly planned out his primate pilfering. According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Dallas Morning News, several days before he allegedly stole the monkeys, Irvin began asking strange questions of zoo staff, which included “obscure questions such as practices in housing and moving of animals”; and specific questions about the emperor tamarins, including how to care for them; as well as the “status and location” of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/here-kitty-kitty-dallas-zoo-calls-escaped-non-dangerous-leopard-a-serious-situation-twitter-users-not-so-much" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clouded leopard</a> that went missing in January. The suspect was also reportedly seen entering areas and looking through windows around the enclosure which are not open to the public.
A separate tip led police to arrest Irvin. He was spotted Thursday at the Dallas World Aquarium, wearing the same style and color of clothing as in the photo shared on social media by police. According to an Aquarium spokesman, Irvin stopped to ask an employee questions about one of the aquarium&#8217;s animals. The employee &#8220;immediately recognized&#8221; him from the police photo. “The employee swiftly notified local authorities, and Mr. Irvin was later apprehended outside of and away from our facility,” the spokesman said.
Police saw the suspect at a DART light rail station Thursday. They later spotted him on the street, where they apprehended him and took him to police headquarters for questioning. He is <a href="https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/dallas-police-arrest-man-in-connection-with-monkeys-taken-from-dallas-zoo/3185833/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> with six counts of animal cruelty, non-livestock. He is currently being held on several bonds totaling some $25,000.
The monkeys were returned safely to the zoo on Wednesday. &#8220;Emperor tamarin monkeys, Bella and Finn, were so happy to snuggle into their nest sack here at the Zoo last night!&#8221; the zoo wrote in a <a href="https://twitter.com/DallasZoo/status/1620871919708024834" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a> thread. &#8220;Our vet and animal care teams have said, beyond losing a bit of weight, they show no signs of injury.&#8221; The animals will have to go through a quarantine period before being returned to their enclosure. Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) said in a statement Sunday evening that her son was arrested over the weekend during a far-left riot against police officers.

&#8220;During the arrest of Jared Dowell, a group of about 20 protesters began to surround officers while screaming profanities though megaphones on the public street causing traffic to come to a standstill,&#8221; police added. &#8220;While interfering with the arrest of Jared Dowell, an officer was hit in the face and could be seen bleeding from the nose and mouth.&#8221;
Police said that Jared Dowell was placed under arrest and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Destruction or Injury of Personal Property and Damage of Property by Graffiti/Tagging.
Clark released a statement saying that Jared Dowell, who she says is now her &#8220;daughter&#8221; Riley Dowell, was the person arrested.
