Francesca Hong’s stunning defeat in Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary has triggered a bitter debate on the Left, with some prominent Democrats and activists arguing that the socialist candidate’s loss may ultimately be good for their movement.
Hong, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, entered Tuesday’s primary as the heavy favorite after surging to the top of the field. But Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who reentered the race just weeks before the election with the backing of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/david-crowley-stuns-socialist-frontrunner-in-wisconsin-dem-governor-primary?author=Daily+Wire+News&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Socialist+Frontrunner%E2%80%99s+Stunning+Collapse+Hands+Wisconsin+Dems+A+November+Lifeline">pulled off the upset</a> by roughly 3,000 votes.
The razor-thin loss has exposed a divide within the Left over whether Hong’s campaign represented a missed opportunity for the burgeoning socialist movement or a warning about the limits of its appeal in a battleground state. 
“There’s a reason the institutional left mostly stayed away,” one Democratic operative who works with left-wing campaigns told <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/12/dsa-progressive-francesca-hong-wisconsin-01035101">Politico</a>. “The people who made those calls are relieved.”
A donor adviser who works with left-wing candidates similarly described Hong’s loss as “a good thing for the movement,” arguing that the results showed voters may be receptive to left-wing policies, but that candidate quality still matters. 
“This is a far better outcome,” the adviser said, arguing that a candidate who avoided some of Hong’s more controversial statements could have won.
The reluctance of the Democratic Party’s most prominent socialist figures to back Hong has become a major source of anger among her supporters.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also declined to get involved.
Their absence stood in sharp contrast to the national support given to other left-wing candidates this year, including Sanders-backed Minnesota Senate candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/candidate-known-for-pro-trans-knife-shirt-defeats-dem-establishment-pick-in-senate-race">Peggy Flanagan</a> and Michigan Senate candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-secures-far-lefts-biggest-victory-yet-over-dem-establishment">Abdul El-Sayed</a>— both won their primaries.
“This movement will fail if we see more letdowns at the critical moment, like we saw in this race,” said Nathan J. Robinson, editor of the leftist magazine Current Affairs. “Especially if AOC wants to be taken seriously as a national leader of the left movement, she needs to actually support the candidates out there who have a chance to notch victories.”
DSA political operative Deep Singh Badhesha similarly argued that the race could have ended differently if Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez had intervened. 
“Wisconsin being this close is very frustrating because folks like AOC and Bernie Sanders stayed out,” Badhesha said. “If they just did one rally in Wisconsin for Hong, that would have probably wrapped it up for her.”
But Hong’s defeat was not merely a consequence of a lack of national support. Her campaign was dogged by a series of controversial past statements that gave Democrats concerned about the November general election ample reason to keep their distance.
Hong previously called for Thanksgiving to be canceled, wrote that police “exist to uphold white supremacy” and should be “defund[ed] then abolish[ed],” and made controversial comments about race and American culture. The controversy became particularly damaging in the final weeks of the campaign, as Crowley successfully framed himself as the more electable Democrat in a state where Republicans are eager to reclaim the governor’s mansion.
Even Evers, who ultimately backed Crowley, warned that Hong was putting too much emphasis on controversies surrounding her social media posts. 
“I think she’s in a tough place,” Evers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/from-piker-to-bernie-nobody-wants-to-be-seen-with-francesca-hong?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=From+Piker+To+Bernie%2C+Nobody+Wants+To+Be+Seen+With+Francesca+Hong">said</a> before the election. “She has spent her entire campaign dealing not with the issues, but what’s on the Twitter.”
Hong’s loss also comes amid a broader debate over whether a string of recent Democratic primary victories represents a genuine socialist insurgency or simply a series of candidate-specific successes. 
Still, not everyone on the Left views the result as a setback. Hasan Piker, the left-wing streamer who campaigned heavily for Hong, <a href="https://x.com/DSA_Watch/status/2087610635026886950">argued</a> Wednesday that the campaign’s ability to generate significant turnout without support from Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez or major establishment Democrats was itself an accomplishment. 
“The fact that she was able to, alongside the local DSA chapters, the fact that this campaign was able to bring this much turnout is incredible,” Piker said. “Do not let anybody discourage you.”
For Hong’s most committed supporters, however, the frustration is increasingly directed toward the national leaders who they believe abandoned a candidate who had a genuine chance to win.
For other Democrats on the Left, the lesson is almost the opposite: Hong’s defeat may have prevented a potentially damaging general election campaign and demonstrated that the party’s most radical candidates still face significant limits when they move beyond deep-blue districts and into statewide battlegrounds.
Crowley will now face Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in November, with both parties fighting for control of Wisconsin’s governor’s mansion after Evers announced he would not seek another term.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is demanding that the nation’s leading artificial intelligence companies immediately pause development, warning that Congress will intervene if they refuse to slow down.
Sanders sent a <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/AI-Pause-Letter-FINAL.pdf">letter</a> Monday to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, arguing that recent incidents in which companies lost control of AI models, along with researchers&#8217; use of AI to create new viruses, show that the technology has reached a dangerous threshold. 
“Mr. Altman, Mr. Amodei and Mr. Zuckerberg: In the interest of humanity, stand by your words. Pause AI development,” Sanders wrote. “It is not too late to avoid disaster. Stop building machines that humans cannot control.”
“Let me be very clear: If you do not take appropriate action now, my colleagues and I in the U.S. Senate will,” he concluded.
Sanders pointed to recent disclosures involving OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta in which AI models acted outside their intended parameters, including instances in which models hacked into other companies’ computer systems. 
He also cited a recent study in which researchers used AI to create <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ai-just-created-viruses-never-before-seen-on-earth">new viruses</a>, warning that the technology in the wrong hands could be used to develop bioweapons capable of killing “tens of millions of people.”
“These technology leaders recently called for the international community to create a safety mechanism — a pause button — to avoid catastrophe,” Sanders wrote. “And yet, at a moment when we have seen human loss of control and the creation of potentially dangerous viruses, your companies are still racing ahead.”
Sanders argued that the companies are violating their own previous commitments to halt or slow development if their systems become too dangerous to control. 
Anthropic previously said it would “commit to pause the scaling and/or delay the deployment of new models” if its ability to scale AI outpaced its ability to comply with its safety procedures — a statement it withdrew in February. Meta said in 2025 that it would stop development if a frontier AI system reached a critical risk threshold that could not be mitigated.
OpenAI similarly pledged to halt further development if AI capabilities reached a “critical” threshold until adequate safeguards were implemented. 
“That moment is here,” Sanders argued. “AI capabilities HAVE reached a critical threshold.”
His demand comes as some of the people developing the world&#8217;s most advanced AI systems are themselves calling for mechanisms to slow the technology if its development begins moving too quickly.
More than 1,100 employees at companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google signed a statement last month urging the United States to back an international effort to build the technical and governance tools needed to deliberately pace frontier AI development.
OpenAI also <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/08/07/openai-astra-model-delay-cybersecurity-risks">announced</a> last week that it was slowing the release of its new Astra model after concerns about its cybersecurity capabilities.
Sanders has previously pushed for a moratorium on AI data center construction, arguing that the government needs time to establish stronger safeguards around the technology. He <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/press-releases/news-sanders-ocasio-cortez-announce-ai-data-center-moratorium-act/">introduced legislation</a> with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) earlier this year that would pause construction of new AI data centers until federal safeguards were established.
 His latest demand would go substantially further, targeting the development of the AI models themselves.
The push also puts Sanders at odds with the Trump administration&#8217;s broader approach to AI, which has emphasized maintaining American technology leadership and competing with China.
Sanders did not specify what congressional action he and other senators would pursue if the companies refuse to pause development.
For now, Sanders is putting the industry on notice: He wants the companies to stop developing increasingly powerful AI systems — or he says Congress will do it for them.

The highest-profile socialists in Congress have refused to endorse or campaign with Thanksgiving-hating Francesca Hong as Wisconsin voters head to the polls Tuesday, setting up a potential make-or-break moment for the socialist wing’s summer surge momentum.
“I don’t think so,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wisconsin-dem-gov-says-socialist-candidate-is-in-a-tough-place-after-thanksgiving-uproar">said</a> last week when asked if he would endorse Hong on the “Pod Save America” podcast. “I met Francesca a couple of years ago, [when] I was in Wisconsin. And she was very, very nice. But, again, this is a race I just am not that familiar with.” 
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/6019083-ocasio-cortez-declines-hong-endorsement/">turned down</a> the opportunity to support Hong. “I haven’t endorsed in that race. My focus has been in winning back the Congress, winning back the House, and positioning ourselves to have the best chance possible to win the Senate,” she told ABC News, while joking that her and other socialist politicians’ calls to &#8220;defund the police&#8221; were just a “crazy, Woke 1” era.
In response to the cold shoulders, Hong said she will seek additional conversations with her Left-wing skeptics. 
“I have so much respect for the senator and the congresswoman, and they are working tirelessly to make sure that we can flip Congress and the Senate and get Democrats wins in the midterms. I look forward to conversations with them about that, too,” she <a href="https://x.com/BreitbartNews/status/2087206182838555014?s=20">told</a> reporters. 
Hasan Piker, the leftist streamer who has <a href="https://x.com/hasanthehun/status/2083913145555308913?s=20">enthusiastically backed</a> Hong, is also sitting out Tuesday&#8217;s final push, according to Politico. 
Hong, a dues-paying member of the Democratic Socialists of America, holds a <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/governor/democratic-primary/2026/wisconsin">commanding polling lead</a> going into Wisconsin’s contentious Democratic gubernatorial primary against establishment-backed David Crowley. Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive, has the endorsement of outgoing Democratic Governor Tony Evers, who leaned on moderate politics to keep Republicans out of the governor’s mansion for nearly a decade.
“I think she’s in a tough place. She has spent her entire campaign dealing not with the issues, but what’s on the Twitter, and I just find that that’s not a good way to beat Tom Tiffany,” Evers said of Hong. “It’s going to be tough … but I think she’s at a real disadvantage, especially since she spends a lot of time talking about Twitter.”
The far-Left bartender has faced intense scrutiny and negative media coverage in recent weeks over fringe views, including past calls to scrap Thanksgiving from the American tradition, abolish the U.S. Senate, and do away with prisons and police. I’d imagine the hardest part of being a Democratic Socialist of America in 2026 is that they adore the sound of their own voices. Voices captured by cameras that trap every syllable in amber like prehistoric bugs, forever available for public dissection.
They can’t outrun their rhetoric. It always circles back, grinning.
For Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she’s perpetually being strangled by her own airtight logic. In 2019, she warned that climate change would end the world in twelve years if we didn’t act. Yet this week she cheerfully announced she was freezing her eggs, apparently convinced she has all the time in the world, as she puts biology on pause to run for president. She insists socialists have abandoned obscure rhetoric…while remaining a proud DSA member in the same company as candidates who treat the American flag like toilet paper, excuse the 9/11 attacks, and brag about dismantling the Western empire. In 2021, she huffed that “woke” was just a nasty little euphemism for civil rights, and how dare anyone sneer at it, you racist. This week she coyly admitted that Woke 1 was “crazy,” a silly phase of goofy things she didn’t really mean.
If Woke 1.0 was merely crazy, Woke 2.0 might just spark World War Eleven. (Ask Ilhan Omar how many of those we&#8217;ve had.)
AOC can switch accents, ideologies, and positions with the restless flair of a chameleon on Adderall, but we cannot let her memory-hole what she said and did during Woke One. It was genuinely insane and destructive. Pretending otherwise isn’t evolution; it’s gaslighting with better lighting.
In 2020, she insisted that New York Police Department’s billion-dollar cuts didn’t go nearly far enough. A defunded-police society, she explained, looked like a white affluent suburb. Any criticism of the movement? Pure racial resentment. That same movement delivered the costliest and deadliest riots in modern American history: roughly two billion dollars in insured damage, a 30% spike in U.S. homicides, police resignations that skyrocketed and never fully recovered, and tens of millions of dollars of bail funds sponsored by leftist organizations and cheered on by AOC and her playmates that freed murderers, sexual offenders, and other violent criminals.
And it wasn’t only Defund. She worked overtime to inject DEI into every institution within rhetorical reach. She repeatedly described white supremacy as a “virus” — often subconscious, often dormant — in the nation and in ordinary individuals. She argued COVID relief should be written, “with a lens of reparations.” She became a key amplifier of the post-George Floyd worldview that filtered everything through systemic oppression and dismissed color-blind equal treatment as naïve or worse. The result was a surge of corporate DEI roles, mandatory diversity statements, staffing quotas, and federal equity mandates. Meanwhile, perceptions of race relations hit multi-decade lows, and workplace fairness concerns climbed as more people grew skeptical that preferential DEI processes still tracked pure merit.
In 2021, the woman spat all over capitalism by wearing a dress dripping with the bloody slogan “Tax the Rich,” to a Met Gala where tickets cost more than some Americans make in a year. Egg-freezing isn&#8217;t cheap either. Tax the rich, just the other rich, apparently.
Her rhetoric poured gasoline on those ideological fires. Watching her now try to laugh it off as youthful exuberance is not charming. It’s nauseating.
Especially since nothing has actually changed for the candidates around her. They’re talking crazier than ever, and more of them keep crawling out of the woodwork every week.
In the very same interview where AOC smiled, waved, and tried to reframe 2020 as a rebellious teenage phase rather than a national disgrace, she openly confirmed that she remains a member of the New York City DSA chapter. That same chapter wants police, prisons, the Senate, the presidency, borders, and the Department of Defense abolished outright. It has produced candidates who flirt with Sharia law in America, campaign alongside people who claim America “deserved” 9/11, and argue that Thanksgiving should be canceled because it’s racist.
Obviously.
Woke 1.0 may be over, but only because the Left has graduated to Woke Two: the sequel where despising America is the new patriotism, where Planned Parenthood rebrands abortion as gender-affirming care, where it’s chic to post videos of yourself injecting your ovaries with hormones on Instagram to stop the clock, where the WNBA doesn&#8217;t know what the &#8220;W&#8221; stands for, where capitalism is the bane of your existence, and where leading Democratic candidates are open terror sympathizers eager to dismantle the country from the inside.
AOC is trying to gaslight us into seeing her as a moderate communist who only hates America a little (some consultant must have whispered that she needs to chill if she wants a national stage). Her comrades, however, are not moderating. They are radicalizing at speed. They’re devouring the remains of the moderate Democratic Party for breakfast, hosting LGBTQ parties at mosques for lunch, and canceling dinner altogether because the nuclear family is apparently a white-supremacist construct.
They are losing their ever-loving minds. And it’s still hurting America, just as the rhetoric did in 2020.
It almost makes me nostalgic for Woke One. Hopefully, by the time AOC is ready to thaw those eggs at the ripe age of seventy-five, Woke Wars I through XI will all be ancient history. Maybe then we’ll finally return to common sense, nostalgic suburbia, and an Overton window that isn’t stretched to the breaking point by people who proudly cried woke wolf.

There was a huge announcement yesterday. 
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — no longer So Fresh, So Face — and the heir apparent to Bernie Sanders, announced she is running for president in 2028. 
She did not do so by announcing it formally, but by doing two other things: she broadcast freezing her eggs on Instagram, and she laughed off Woke 1.0 as if it were no big deal.
Welcome to the 2028 Democratic presidential campaign, where biology is an obstacle to your happiness, and we&#8217;re substituting third-worldism for Woke 1.0. 
This is her announcement that she was putting her natural biology on hold to pursue the presidency.
She&#8217;s 36 years old. She&#8217;s perfectly healthy. She&#8217;s been in a relationship with this dude she is not married to for the last five years, for a reason no one can discern. She could just go have a baby the fun and easy way. Instead, she&#8217;s choosing IVF – freezing the eggs and then later undergoing in vitro fertilization.

IVF is really expensive. It is time-consuming. It is tough on the body for a healthy 36-year-old woman. Let&#8217;s say that you wanted to do it the old-fashioned, natural way. The chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby within one year of starting to try are somewhere between 75 and 80%. Now, let&#8217;s say you harvest that same 36-year-old woman&#8217;s eggs. The chances of a live birth per IVF round are around 40%. And the process is really, really not pleasant. 
But Ocasio-Cortez went on national TV and showed what she is doing.
It was a little crazy.
Let&#8217;s start at the beginning with the public — and very weird — announcement that she was freezing her eggs. 
Yes, we&#8217;re allowed to say it&#8217;s weird. It’s her decision, but deciding to Instagram your egg freezing is weird.
She stated:

This is a choice that I am making to feel more in control of my life. And if people want to make assumptions about my decision, let them make those assumptions. I feel empowered to make this choice. I think it&#8217;s a very privileged position that I&#8217;ve been able to make.</blockquote>
We&#8217;re going to take the bait because we&#8217;re going to explain what the hell she&#8217;s doing, which is clearly bait.  This is all girlboss: real girl-bossing is when you inject yourself with hormones on Instagram Live to start a process that will cost tens of thousands of dollars to take control of your own life because biology is unfair and mean. 
And if a man comments, it is because he is sexist in some way. 
Now again, she&#8217;s the one who chose to make this public. It&#8217;s an obvious trap; this is the game that she is playing: to post, wait for people to comment, and then claim that they’re sexist for commenting.
We all know the game. It&#8217;s a really stupid game, but she&#8217;s also doing it publicly because she is saying something important about American society. She injected herself with hormones on Instagram Live for egg freezing. People do this privately. Why is she doing this in front of millions of people?
“Don&#8217;t be weird about this,” she admonished those watching.
You&#8217;re being weird about this. Why are you talking to me? Why am I watching this? This is none of my business. You&#8217;re the one live-streaming medical procedures on Instagram. You&#8217;re being weird. Are we allowed to say you&#8217;re being weird? 
She’s announcing her presidential run. 
She suggested that this is all because of men, you see, because men run for office and people don&#8217;t wonder if they want to have children. 
Most men running for higher office already have a family because they&#8217;re mostly in their 40s or older and they&#8217;ve been married for a while.
Nobody is asking whether a man is going to get pregnant during his campaign because men can&#8217;t — despite what the Left thinks — get pregnant.
The most powerful feminist thing she could do, if she really wanted to be totally feminist, is run for president and be pregnant at the same time, because then she could say, “Why are you bothering me just because I&#8217;m pregnant?”
When the Left says “right to privacy,” they never mean “Leave us alone. We just want our right to privacy.” They mean “We want you to approve of every decision we make and imitate it in public policy.”
Why isn’t she doing this the natural way? She is not doing this for medical reasons; she is not doing this because she is having fertility issues. This makes a mockery of those who are truly having fertility issues and are pursuing this process for medical reasons. 
This is not a decision to feel “empowered,” unless by empowered you somehow mean that biology itself is an obstacle to “living your fullest life,” which is a leftist idea.
The leftist idea is that biology itself, like normal maturation, is unfair and cruel. This is why they treat puberty as some sort of biological obstacle.
It&#8217;s why they are now treating pregnancy as some sort of biological barrier for women to overcome. 
I can&#8217;t think of anything more anti-woman than the idea that pregnancy is a biological burden on women and that it is something horrible to be overcome. 
It is a superpower. It is unbelievable. It&#8217;s an incredible gift.
Demeaning that so that you can compete in a &#8220;man&#8217;s world&#8221; is terrible.
She is trying to valorize herself for putting off pregnancy indefinitely, expensively, and more dangerously than the natural way. She doesn&#8217;t want you asking about whether she&#8217;s going to get pregnant while she&#8217;s running. Thus, she&#8217;s preemptively saying she won&#8217;t get pregnant.
She&#8217;s making the point that biology is unfair, womanhood is inherently unfair, and that there is no moral issue with fertilizing embryos you will discard.
This is all part and parcel of a broader agenda: Rebelling against reality by assuming that if we just fix reality, Utopia is right there. 
Which brings us to Ocasio-Cortez’s second big presidential announcement. She said Woke 1.0 was so over. It&#8217;s no longer “cool” or even “fetch” or anything like that.
The problem for the Left is that Americans ended up rejecting Woke 1.0. That is because Americans don&#8217;t believe that the Declaration and Constitution are rooted in racism. 
The reason woke died is because it was taken to the logical extreme, which is that everything was discrimination. 
Now there is a different phase. Think of the faces of Woke 2.0. Who are they?
Zohran Mamdani, Abdullah El-Sayed, and Hasan Piker.  
The leftist Edward Said said that America&#8217;s failure is that we are basically a corrupt empire whose capitalism corrupted the earth, and everything that happens everywhere else on earth that&#8217;s bad and at home is due to our terrible free market system.
And who better to represent America as a corrupt empire than victims of that corrupt empire? People from outside America who can come back to America and tell us what we do wrong.
Woke 1.0 forced Americans to say, “Am I racist or am I not?” Woke 2.0 is, “Is American capitalism inherently corrupting and bad? Is the West&#8217;s system of freedoms and free markets inherently imperialistic, colonialist, genocidal, and racist?”
It&#8217;s easier to pitch woke 2.0 than woke 1.0. Why? Americans have been convinced over the course of the last 25 years or so that America is the bad guy, that we and our allies are fundamentally evil, that our foreign policy decisions of the past two decades and maybe longer, going all the way back to World War II, according to some, are actually terrible and horrible, and we&#8217;re the bad guys in the world.
Add the economic angst right now, combine those two things, and you get woke 2.0, Ocasio-Cortez’s new program. It is about hatred of America.
Ocasio-Cortez is trying to capitalize on all of this. 
Her idea of Utopia is women freezing eggs and a communist agenda.
It’s more than weird.
It’s a Utopia that we should reject with all the strength we have.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) plans to freeze her eggs reignited questions over the weekend as to why she has yet to tie the knot with her longtime boyfriend despite being engaged since 2022.
The New York socialist and potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidate previously <a href="https://www.congress.gov/119/crpt/hrpt219/CRPT-119hrpt219.pdf">faced criticism</a> from the House Ethics Committee for describing partner Riley Roberts as her “spouse” while not being married. As Washington Free Beacon investigative reporter Andrew Kerr <a href="https://x.com/AndrewKerrNC/status/2086616392715964815?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q">noted</a> Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez does not have to disclose Roberts&#8217; financial interests as long as they are not legally married.
“Roberts is immune from AOC’s own bills that would ban the spouses of members of Congress from trading stocks … so long as they remain unmarried,” Kerr wrote on X. “No mystery why she’ll never tie the knot with this guy while she serves in Congress.”

AOC, who has positioned herself as an ethics-minded congressional crusader, introduced a bill in January 2025 that would ban individual stock trading for members of Congress and their spouses or dependents. The proposal does not mention partners or longtime romantic interests.
Still, the Bronx-based socialist has faced her own ethics problems in recent years. The House Ethics Committee found that she improperly accepted a free ticket for Roberts to the 2021 Met Gala, and that she did not pay fair market value to rent the “Tax the Rich” dress she wore to the event.
The committee “found that she failed to fully comply with the Gift Rule by impermissibly accepting a gift of free admission to the 2021 Met Gala for her partner and by failing to pay full fair market value for some of the items worn to the event.”
At the same time, investigators noted that she inconsistently referred to Roberts as her spouse depending on the situation, a footnote <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/house-ethics-committee-aoc-is-manipulating-rules-to-shield-her-spouses-financial-affairs-from-the-public/">first flagged</a> by the Washington Free Beacon. AOC listed Roberts as her spouse for multiple overseas trips — despite the fact that they have not yet married — but did not list him as her spouse when disclosing her financial information.
“The committee also found evidence that Representative Ocasio-Cortez listed Mr. Roberts as her ‘spouse’ on paperwork filed with the House relating to privately sponsored travel, although the two were not legally married at the time of the gifted travel,” lawmakers found.
“The committee further notes that at the same time Representative Ocasio-Cortez was seeking to take advantage of exceptions to the Gift Rule only applicable to spouses and/or certain relatives, she was not disclosing Mr. Roberts’ financial interests as is required of Members who are legally married,” they added.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joked that her and other socialist politicians&#8217; calls to ‘defund the police’ were just a “crazy, Woke 1” era.
&#8220;I have a local city councilman that has this saying, &#8216;Woke 1 was crazy,'&#8221; Ocasio-Cortez <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFwAnMLBSOw">said</a> in an interview with ABC. “What’s important is that we have to assess what a candidate is saying now.&#8221;
ABC News host Jon Karl had asked the congresswoman about the latest socialist backtrack, involving Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong and her comments that called for prisons to be abolished and for Thanksgiving to be canceled.
The radical statements from the Left’s self-proclaimed “Woke 1” era ranged from calls to &#8220;defund the police&#8221; to declarations like &#8220;no one is illegal on stolen land,&#8221; &#8220;homeownership is a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nyc-landlords-blast-mamdani-official-who-calls-property-ownership-weapon-of-white-supremacy">weapon</a> of white supremacy,&#8221; and “all <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Vox/videos/i-still-believe-that-all-deportations-are-wrongnew-york-congressional-candidate-/4441164026124427/">deportations</a> are wrong.”
Ocasio-Cortez explained that those statements led to &#8220;fruitful&#8221; conversations. “I think that the doors were really open in trying to entertain any and every policy that was going to get us to a better place. And I actually think that the discussions that were had in that time were quite fruitful,&#8221; she said.
She tried to put some distance on that line of thinking, however, claiming that rhetoric is not the rhetoric used today. “I think that when we talk about crime today, it’s fundamentally different than the way that we talked about crime in bringing crime down, right? And I think that we all share the goals of having as low a crime rate as possible. I think that during lockdown, of course, rhetoric in that time is not rhetoric that we would use today.”
So far, past radical comments have not stopped self-described democratic socialists — many of whom do still embrace the rhetoric Ocasio-Cortez appears ready to abandon — from winning primaries and advancing to the general election. In New York City, democratic socialists Darializa Chevalier and Claire Valdez swept their primaries and defeated incumbent establishment Democrats, Melat Kiros won in Colorado, and Abdul El-Sayed won in Michigan.
Their success may not stop at the primaries. Prediction market Kalshi currently forecasts a Chevalier win in the general election at <a href="https://kalshi.com/tag/new-york-elections">98%</a>, a Valdez victory at 76%, a Kiros win at 97%, and an El-Sayed win at 55%. Increasingly, more and more Americans hold a positive view of socialism — with nearly <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/694835/image-capitalism-slips.aspx">40%</a> reporting they have a positive view of socialism.
Democratic socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani proved in his 2025 election that radical statements can be successfully walked back before a general election. Mamdani had previously <a href="https://apnews.com/article/59f6a66cd40d4c2b750fdfd06a4f5da1?utm_source=chatgpt.com">advocated</a> for seizing the means of production, refused to condemn globalizing the intifada, and had described the New York City Police Department as a &#8220;racist, anti-queer, and a major threat to public safety.&#8221;
The thirty-four-year-old mayor <a href="https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/zohran-mamdani-fox-news-interview/6405385/">chalked</a> up his comments to his own emotional reaction to &#8220;the year George Floyd was killed,&#8221; saying that at the time &#8220;it felt like safety and justice had never been further apart.&#8221;
Mamdani&#8217;s win proved socialism could win a major election in the United States. And while socialism’s popularity is on the rise, capitalism’s popularity has declined, dropping 6% since 2021 to just over half — <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/694835/image-capitalism-slips.aspx">54%</a> — of Americans viewing capitalism in a favorable light.

Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) announced Saturday that she is freezing her eggs and filmed herself injecting hormones into her stomach, describing the decision as a “privileged” opportunity to gain more control over how she balances her personal and political life.
&#8220;Normally, I keep my private life quite private. But I have made the decision to freeze my eggs. And I want to share this because I was weighing it for a very long time, and there isn&#8217;t a ton out there, and it can feel very daunting,&#8221; the <a href="https://x.com/ABCPolitics/status/2086456076501938580?s=20">potential 2028 presidential contender</a> said. &#8220;I am aware there is, very strangely, a political &#8216;risk&#8217; or &#8216;tax&#8217; that could come with sharing this information.” 
In a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/aoc/">series of Instagram posts</a>, the 36-year-old, who is childless, described to her millions of followers the “reflective mood” she has been in recently and the pressures that ultimately led to her decision.
“There&#8217;s also this flip side where you have to then grow up in the public eye, in a time that most people usually get to grow more privately,” she lamented. “And when you get elected later in life, you&#8217;ve made all of your mistakes in private. You&#8217;ve learned. You&#8217;ve grown in private. But when you get elected in public, and when you&#8217;re young, you have to do all of that in public.”
In one video, the self-described Democratic socialist is seen unboxing the medication, lifting her shirt, and injecting herself in the stomach as she begins the egg retrieval process. “Don’t be weird about this, even though I know all of you will be,” she told the camera before administering the shot. 
AOC, who was first elected to Congress at age 29, said she is documenting her fertility journey to help educate women about what she described as a lack of awareness surrounding women’s health, including puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.
On the fertility front, it’s a notable shift in tone for the Bronx leftist, who has long championed feminist causes, including abortion-on-demand, while previously telling young people to reconsider having children because of climate change.
“Our planet is going to hit disaster if we don’t turn this ship around, and so it’s basically like, there’s a scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ocasio-cortez-people-maybe-shouldnt-reproduce-due-ryan-saavedra">February 2019 Instagram live video</a>. “And it does lead, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know, ‘Is it okay to still have children?&#8217;”
A woman’s fertility is closely tied to the number and quality of eggs in her ovaries, with age playing a major role in egg quality. Research has found that fertility declines significantly with age, with women in their mid-30s generally having lower chances of conceiving than women in their 20s, according to <a href="https://www.trianglen.dk/en/about-fertility/female-infertility/egg-quality-and-female-age">Trianglen Fertility Clinic</a>. By the late 30s, fertility declines further, and after 41 years, the egg quality declines rapidly.
For AOC, the biological clock is ticking — and she knows it.
“I feel empowered to make this choice. I think it&#8217;s a very privileged position that I&#8217;ve been able to make, and it&#8217;s also a result of, I think, changes in technology that have also made it more financially accessible,” she said. “This is a choice that I am making to feel more in control of my life.”

Republicans appear to support a bipartisan bill led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), but the legislation remains stalled amid reported concerns that giving the Democratic socialist a legislative victory could fuel her presidential ambitions.  
<a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/1837/text">The DEFIANCE Act</a> (Disrupt Explicit Forged Images And Non-Consensual Edits Act) would create a federal civil cause of action allowing victims of non-consensual sexually explicit deepfakes to sue those who create or distribute fake nude or sexual images without their consent. 
Under the bill, victims could recover up to $250,000 in damages in cases involving sexual assault, stalking, or harassment, earning support from leftists, conservative Republicans, and Hollywood figures such as Paris Hilton.
AOC first introduced the legislation last year. In January, the U.S. Senate passed it unanimously.
“I want to thank the Senate cosponsors of this legislation, including my Republican co-lead, Senator Lindsey Graham,” Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) <a href="https://www.durbin.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/durbin-successfully-passes-bill-to-combat-nonconsensual-sexually-explicit-deepfake-images">said</a> at the time. “Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez herself is a publicly confessed victim of explicit deepfakes. I commend her for working to create tools for victims in the fight against this despicable crime.” 
Despite bipartisan support, the bill remains stalled in the Republican-led House. <a href="https://www.politico.com/newsletters/playbook/2026/07/23/paris-hilton-and-the-politics-of-defiance-01009283?nname=playbook&amp;nid=0000014f-1646-d88f-a1cf-5f46b7bd0000&amp;nrid=5c65d8fa-b7c7-44e5-98d0-43e6086e71cd">Politico reported</a> Thursday that some Republicans worry passing AOC&#8217;s legislation could hand the New York congresswoman a political victory as she emerges as a potential 2028 presidential contender. 
“It’s a shame that this bill isn’t law because they are unwilling to give AOC a win,” one person working on the bill told the outlet. “When you look at it, everything is aligned for it to pass, except that they don’t want her to have this.”
“We’re depriving many, many people of the ability to set their lives right just to prevent one member of Congress from being able to pass a bill,” another person said, according to Politico. 
Ocasio-Cortez has blamed the delay on House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH). Earlier this month,<a href="https://x.com/EricMGarcia/status/2077191769477791989?s=20"> she told The Independent</a> that the bill passed the Senate unanimously with Republican support, adding that people should &#8220;ask Jim Jordan&#8221; why it has yet to advance.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told reporters Tuesday that he supports the legislation but was unsure of its status in committee, according to Politico. 
Earlier this year, President Donald Trump signed the bipartisan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-passes-melania-backed-bill-to-fight-deepfake-revenge-porn">TAKE IT DOWN Act</a>, championed by first lady Melania Trump, into law. The measure criminalizes the non-consensual online distribution of intimate images, including AI-generated deepfakes.

A new New Hampshire primary poll points to an early shake-up in the 2028 presidential race, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) leading the Democratic field while Secretary of State Marco Rubio gains ground on Vice President JD Vance among Republicans.
<a href="https://scholars.unh.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1982&amp;amp;context=survey_center_polls">The Granite State Poll,</a> conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, shows the Democratic socialist leading the hypothetical Democratic field with 22% support, narrowly ahead of former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 21%. Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) placed third with 9%. 
Notably, the quarterly survey showed support slipping sharply for several other potential Democratic contenders, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Newsom&#8217;s support in the Granite State fell from 15% in February to just 8% in July. Harris, the failed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, also saw her support cut in half, falling from 10% in February to 5% in July. 
“Nearly half of socialists and one-third of progressives support Ocasio-Cortez, while pluralities of liberals and moderates support Buttigieg,” the polling report said.

New Hampshire remains one of the nation&#8217;s most closely watched political battlegrounds, with its early primary serving as a crucial measure of presidential candidates&#8217; viability on the national stage. 
On the Republican side, the poll showed support for Vice President Vance slipping significantly. About 36% of likely GOP primary voters backed Vance, down sharply from 53% in February. Rubio appeared to capitalize on the shift, more than tripling his support from 7% to 26%.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley tied for third place at 8%. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis finished fifth with 6%, followed by former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard with 4%. 
Despite his decline, Vance enjoyed the highest favorability rating among New Hampshire Republican primary voters. The survey found GOP voters overwhelmingly want the party&#8217;s next nominee to build on President Donald Trump&#8217;s agenda, while only 28% said they preferred a candidate who would take the party in a different direction.
Neither Vance nor Rubio has publicly announced a presidential campaign. Still, Trump&#8217;s endorsement could prove decisive. More than 40% of Republican primary voters surveyed said his backing would significantly influence their vote.

On Tuesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) got hammered for another ignorant statement that clearly exposed her disgust for Israel.
The latest uproar erupted after the Bronx leftist took to social media to blast the pending National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). AOC claimed a specific provision in the defense package was an &#8220;existential threat to American sovereignty and democracy&#8221; that would &#8220;merge parts of our military with the IDF.&#8221;
It didn&#8217;t take long for the pushback to come crashing down.
Critics, lawmakers, and legal experts quickly tore apart the congresswoman’s alarmist claims, pointing out that Section 219 of the bill simply formalizes routine research, development, and technology-sharing between the United States and Israel. The provision involves zero military command mergers, creates no joint operational units, and transfers no American troops under foreign control. Instead, it expands administrative coordination on defensive tech like artificial intelligence, missile defense, and counter-drone systems — all cooperative practices the United States routinely maintains with key allies.
EPA Chief Lee Zeldin tore into the New York Democrat, suggesting she focus less on hostility toward Israel and more on basic reading comprehension and critical thinking.

More recently, AOC has doubled down on her hostility toward the Jewish state to appease her far-Left base. During a Democratic Socialists of America forum, she <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2026/04/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-israel-funding-arms-defense-dsa/">explicitly pledged</a> never to vote for any military aid to Israel, including purely defensive systems like the Iron Dome, which exist solely to intercept incoming rockets aimed at civilians.
Once again, the Squad leader&#8217;s urge to score online political points against Israel has left her exposed, proving that when it comes to basic facts, Ocasio-Cortez is still far out of her depth.

I know you’ll all be thrilled, and not just thrilled but also delighted, and not just thrilled and delighted but also apoplectic to learn that the Democratic Socialists of America have now published their platform, detailing their plans for the future of America.
As the warmth of collectivism spreads through the Democrat party like the radiant glow of the X-ray you get after you’ve been coughing heavily for several months until your wife says maybe you ought to have that checked out and then immediately texts her lover to tell him, &#8220;Change of plan, we may be able to solve this problem without resorting to violence,&#8221; it’s good to get a clear picture of just what these delightful Marxists want to accomplish once they gain power.
The Democratic Socialists of America website describes their beautiful vision and, so help me, these are real quotes:
“Imagine a future without capitalism. You have no debt. You don’t need health insurance. You don’t pay a mortgage or have a landlord, because comfortable housing is a human right. Your retirement is publicly funded. Food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation aren’t for-profit businesses; they are common goods and utilities.”

The website goes on to say — and again, these are real quotes: “For the working class to govern, we need a new political system. Replace the president and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress. Abolish the Senate and establish public ownership of the largest corporations.”
With that all-powerful Congress elected by illegals and felons, the DSA plans to save America by destroying America. Or as one DSA member put it — and again, I’m quoting: “The most important thing we can do is take America down from within.”
Now, I have to tell you, I found this socialist program so uplifting, I was inspired to write a campaign song that any Democrat party candidate from the DSA can use free of charge.
It goes like this:
