During her confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday, Stefanik put the UN on blast for its conduct pertaining to Israel, a U.S. ally that is still trying to secure the freedom of all hostages taken by Hamas after the group&#8217;s October 7 terrorist attack in 2023.

The nominee took aim at the <a href="https://www.unwomen.org/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UN Women group</a> for &#8220;failing to condemn Hamas&#8217; terrorist attack and terrorist regime against innocent civilian women using rape and targeting women. Specifically taking them hostage.&#8221;
Stefanik said she was &#8220;overjoyed&#8221; that three women held captive by Hamas were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-3-israeli-hostages-freed-after-nearly-500-days" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently freed</a> as part of a ceasefire deal, stressed that the U.S. needs to &#8220;stay committed&#8221; to get all the hostages released, and noted that she has met &#8220;many hostage families.&#8221;
With the UN ambassadorship, Stefanik said, &#8220;We need to be a voice of moral clarity on the UN Security Council and at the United Nations at large for the world to hear the importance of standing with Israel, and I intend to do that.&#8221;

Stefanik also mentioned it will soon be 50 years since the UN&#8217;s &#8220;disgraceful &#8216;Zionism is Racism&#8217; resolution&#8221; and noted how she wanted to follow the example of then-U.S. ambassador Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who &#8220;spoke out strongly&#8221; against it.
Trump &#8220;has a tremendous record when it comes to standing with Israel,&#8221; Stefanik added, &#8220;whether it&#8217;s the Abraham Accords, whether it&#8217;s his commitment to combating anti-Semitism, or recognizing Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. &#8221;
In response to the remarks, the Republican Jewish Coalition <a href="https://x.com/RJC/status/1881743740244799609" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Trump had sent a &#8220;clear message&#8221; by nominating Stefanik — &#8220;that we will stand by our cherished ally Israel and fight back against the vile antisemitism running rampant in Turtle Bay&#8221; — and advocated for her confirmation.

An Anti-Defamation League survey released Tuesday reveals that 46% of adults worldwide now hold significant <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/anti-semitism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">anti-Semitic</a> beliefs, signaling what the organization calls a &#8220;global emergency.&#8221;
According to The Times of Israel, the ADL&#8217;s global survey <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/global-emergency-nearly-half-the-worlds-adults-hold-antisemitic-views-adl-survey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asked</a> 58,000 respondents in 103 countries if they agreed with 11 anti-Semitic tropes, such as: &#8220;Jews&#8217; loyalty is only to Israel&#8221; and &#8220;Jews have too much power in the business world.&#8221; The survey found that 46% of adults worldwide endorsed a majority of these statements, representing approximately 2.2 billion people.
Anti-Semitism was most prevalent in the Middle East and North Africa, with roughly three-quarters of respondents holding significant anti-Semitic views, and the West Bank and Gaza topping the list at 97%. In contrast, Western Europe had lower levels at 17%, and the United States reported that 9% of respondents held significant anti-Semitic beliefs.
ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt described the findings as a &#8220;global emergency,&#8221; noting a 108% increase in anti-Semitic views since a similar survey in 2014. He expressed concern over the rise among younger generations, with half of respondents under the age of 35 harboring anti-Semitic sentiments, 13 percentage points higher than adults over the age of 50.
Only 39% of respondents aged 18 to 34 agreed with the mainstream historical narrative of the Holocaust, with the remainder expressing beliefs that the number of Jewish deaths was exaggerated, that the Holocaust was a myth, or stating they had never heard of it.

For the general population, 48% accepted the historical account, while 20% indicated they had &#8220;not heard about the Holocaust.&#8221;
Marina Rosenberg, ADL senior vice president of international affairs, described the views of young adults as a &#8220;demographic time bomb,&#8221; emphasizing the urgency in addressing the spread of anti-Semitic ideologies among the youth.
The ADL attributes the rise in anti-Semitism to factors such as the influence of social media, the spread of conspiracy theories, and increasing polarization in societies worldwide.
Despite the alarming statistics, the survey found that 57% of all respondents recognized anti-Jewish hatred as a serious problem. Additionally, a majority expressed openness toward Israel, with 75% stating their country should welcome Israeli tourists and 71% supporting diplomatic ties with Israel. Only 25% supported boycotting Israeli businesses.
In response to the findings, the ADL is urging governments and organizations to adopt the Global Guidelines for Countering Antisemitism, a framework introduced in July and endorsed by dozens of countries and multilateral organizations. The guidelines aim to provide actionable steps to combat anti-Semitism and promote education and awareness.
The extensive survey was conducted in collaboration with the Paris-based Ipsos research firm and involved 58,000 interviews across 103 countries and territories. Conducted primarily via phone between late July and early November 2024, the research was carried out in 80 languages and dialects. Each country&#8217;s sample included either 500 or 1,000 residents, with a margin of error ranging from 3.2% to 4.4%.

A tenured Columbia University law professor says she was effectively terminated after an investigation found she discriminated against Jewish and Israeli students.
Katherine Franke, who was investigated after she gave an interview claiming that Israeli students were harassing students on campus, on Friday announced she was retiring and <a href="https://ccrjustice.org/sites/default/files/attach/2025/01/Statement%20from%20Katherine%20Franke.docx.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released a statement</a> criticizing the university.
“For the last year and a half, as students at Columbia University and across the globe have protested against the Israeli government’s genocidal assault on Palestinians after the October 2023 attacks, a response that has resulted in horrendous devastation in Gaza, I have ardently defended students’ right to peaceful protest on our campus and across the country,” Franke began her statement. “I truly believed that student engagement with the rights and dignity of Palestinians continued a celebrated tradition at Columbia University of student protest.”
She said she had been “targeted” for her “support of pro-Palestinian protesters – by the president of Columbia University, by several colleagues, by university trustees, and by outside actors.”
“This has included an unjustified finding by the University that my public comments condemning attacks against student protesters violated university non-discrimination policy,” she added.
Those <a href="https://www.democracynow.org/2024/1/25/columbia_palestine_protest_attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">public comments</a>, however, suggested Israeli students were the ones harassing other Columbia students, particularly Palestinian students.
“So many of those Israeli students, who then come to the Columbia campus, are coming right out of their military service,” she said in January 2024. “They’ve been known to harass Palestinian and other students on our campus.”
In that interview, Franke also repeated the false allegation that Israeli students had sprayed anti-Israel protesters with skunk spray, with Franke claiming they were hospitalized due to a “chemical attack.” She also claimed the students responsible were part of Columbia’s dual degree program with Tel Aviv University – but they weren’t.
“The students were able to identify three of these exchange students, basically, from Israel, who had just come out of military service, who were spraying the pro-Palestinian students with this skunk water,” Franke said in her interview with the leftist organization “Democracy Now.”
The “chemical attack” was actually a non-toxic gag spray from Amazon, and Columbia paid $395,000 to a Jewish student after it suspended him for the incident.

Other professors at Columbia Law filed a complaint against Franke following this interview, arguing that Franke “harassed members of the Columbia community based on their national origin,” <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/probe-finds-columbia-university-professor-discriminated-against-israeli-students/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to The Times of Israel</a>. The investigation determined that Franke violated the school’s anti-discrimination policy during her interview and also violated school policy regarding retaliation by revealing to a reporter the name of a professor who reported her. On social media, Franke also targeted the professors who filed the complaint.
“As made public by parties in this matter, a complaint was filed alleging discriminatory harassment in violation of our policies,” Columbia said in a statement to the Times. “An investigation was conducted, and a finding was issued. As we have consistently stated, the University is committed to addressing all forms of discrimination consistent with our policies.”
Franke also supported the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which aims to harm Israel economically for perceived slights while targeting no other nation for similar or worse aggressions.

Another imam of a mosque near the home of the suspected ISIS member behind the New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans went on an anti-Semitic rant this summer where he accused Jews of “creating havoc everywhere.”
Fifteen people were killed and 35 were injured when Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, rammed a white pickup truck through a crowd in a blocked-off area of the French Quarter before opening fire. Jabbar, who is an American citizen and Army veteran and was in possession of an ISIS flag, was killed by law enforcement at the scene. 
The Houston Masjid Bilal, which is affiliated with the Islamic Society of Greater Houston (ISGH), is located close to Jabbar’s home.
In a video shared and partially translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Imam M. ElFarooqui delivered a sermon at the mosque in August 2024, where he spoke about a group of Jews who were forbidden by Allah to fish on Saturday, and instead used trenches to catch the fish passively.

Shortly after the attack, Houston Masjid Bilal <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-orleans-terrorists-hometown-mosque-tells-members-to-refer-inquiries-to-cair">discouraged</a> its members from talking to the media, and said “if approached by the FBI and a response is necessary, please refer to CAIR and ISGH.”
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/muslim-american-group-that-celebrated-hamas-attack-hopes-to-have-40-members-in-congress-in-10-years">previously reported</a> that CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said he was “happy to see” Gazans “breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles of their own land” on October 7, the day Hamas massacred and kidnapped Israeli civilians. Awad added that Israel does not have the right to self-defense.
A CAIR spokesperson told The Daily Wire that CAIR has not yet assumed an official role of handling inquiries for Houston Masjid Bilal.
ISGH condemned the terror attack in a statement and encouraged people with relevant information to speak to authorities.
“This act of terror and pure evil has no place in our community in society,” the statement read. “ISGH encourages anyone with any relevant information to come forward and duly report to law enforcement. ISGH is in contact with authorities and relevant law enforcement agencies are accorded the fullest cooperation needed.”
An FBI spokesperson said <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyzxbQjWwQo">on Thursday</a> that Jabbar uploaded five videos online detailing his plans for terrorism and expressing support for ISIS.
“Jabbar explains that he originally planned to harm his family and friends but was concerned the news headlines would not focus on the quote ‘war between the believers and the disbelievers,’” the FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia said. “He states that he joined ISIS before this summer.”
The Islamic Society of Greater Houston did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

An FBI spokesperson <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyzxbQjWwQo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">on Thursday said</a> that Jabbar posted five videos online about his terrorism plans and his support for ISIS.
“Jabbar explains that he originally planned to harm his family and friends but was concerned the news headlines would not focus on the quote ‘war between the believers and the disbelievers,&#8217;” the FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia said. “He states that he joined ISIS before this summer.”

Raia said the FBI believes Jabbar acted alone, renting a Ford F-150 in Houston before driving to New Orleans on the 31st. Two functional IEDs were found in coolers near the attack site, and authorities are investigating three recovered phones and two laptops linked to Jabbar.
“Whether you know Jabbar personally, worked with him, served in the military, or saw him in New Orleans or Texas, we need to talk to you,” he said. “You may not think you have relevant information, but what you know could tie in to one of our investigative leads.”
CAIR told The Daily Wire that they have not yet assumed an official role of handling inquiries for Houston Masjid Bilal, but strongly condemned the terror attack in a statement.
“We join the New Orleans Muslim community in extending our condolences to the families of those killed in the horrific, senseless and infuriating Bourbon Street attack,” CAIR wrote in a statement. “May God comfort the families of the victims, heal the injured and protect humanity from those who dare to commit such cowardly acts of mass violence.”
It added that Jabbar had a history of drunk driving, spousal abuse, and allegedly plotted to kill his family before “experiencing dreams telling him to join Daesh (ISIS).”
“[H]is crime is the latest example of why cruel, merciless, bottom-feeding extremist groups have been rejected by the overwhelming majority of the Muslim world – from Islamic scholars, to mosques, to organizations, and to individual Muslims,” CAIR added.
A spokesperson was unable to confirm if Jabbar was a member of the mosque.
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/muslim-american-group-that-celebrated-hamas-attack-hopes-to-have-40-members-in-congress-in-10-years" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously reported</a> that CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said he was “happy to see” Gazans “breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles of their own land” on October 7, the day Hamas massacred over a thousand Israeli civilians. He added that Israel does not have the right to self-defense.
The Biden administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-scrambles-to-distance-itself-from-cair-after-shocking-anti-semitic-statements" target="_blank" rel="noopener">distanced itself</a> from Awad following the remarks and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/08/us/politics/white-house-cair-nihad-awad.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed</a> CAIR as a partner from a White House fact sheet for its National Strategy to Counter Anti-Semitism.
On October 7, as Hamas was still actively attacking Israeli communities, CAIR’s official X <a href="https://x.com/CAIRNational/status/1710758201358966893" target="_blank" rel="noopener">account posted</a> its “support for the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and calling for an end to the Israeli occupation.”
The post blamed Israel for Hamas’ attack, claiming the Jewish state “sparks the deadly violence that we see again and again, including today.” The thread on X concluded by calling on the U.S., and Arab and Muslim governments to “exert maximum pressure on the Israeli government” to “respect Palestinian human rights and end the occupation,” despite the attackers coming from Gaza which Israel withdrew from in 2005.
The <a href="https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounder/council-american-islamic-relations-cair" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Defamation League</a> notes that other CAIR leaders have made anti-Semitic remarks, including CAIR’s San Francisco Bay Area Executive Director, Zahra Billoo, who once declared that “Zionists” are “your enemies,” warning followers to “pay attention” to “Zionist synagogues,” Hillels, and Jewish federations. After October 7, Billoo said the violence was the world “witnessing decolonization.”
Hussam Ayloush, CEO and Executive Director of CAIR Greater Los Angeles Area once said Israel does not have a right to defend itself, and <a href="https://www.memri.org/reports/cair-la-director-hussam-ayloush-november-2023-islamic-society-orange-county-event-israel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asserted</a> that “Israel should be attacked.”
Similarly, on October 7 and 9, Zainab Chaudry, CAIR’s Director of Maryland Outreach, <a href="https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounder/council-american-islamic-relations-cair" target="_blank" rel="noopener">referred</a> to Hamas’ attack as an “uprising” against “colonizers” and called Hamas terrorists “Palestinian freedom fighters.” In November, Abdullah Jaber, Executive Director, CAIR Florida, stated that Israeli Jews are not followers of “Abraham, Moses, or Jesus.”

CNN commentator Scott Jennings, the token conservative among CNN’s well-established leftist anchors and commentators, offered a different perspective on former President Jimmy Carter’s legacy than the hagiographic perspectives given by his colleagues.
Carter died on Sunday at the age of 100.
“Let me preface my take by offering condolences to the Carter family on his death. He was obviously one of the most unique post-presidencies we&#8217;ve ever had because he lived so long and he did so much,” Jennings began.
Then he segued into his assessment of the damage Carter had wrought during his presidency and political life: “That having been said, he was a terrible president. That&#8217;s why he lost in a landslide after his one term. And if it&#8217;s possible, I think he was even a worse ex-president because of his meddling in U.S. foreign policy, because of his saddling up to dictators around the world, because of his vehement views, anti-Israel views, and more than dabbling in anti-Semitism over the years.”
Carter <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/3181150/jimmy-carter-friend-dictators-and-champion-terrorists/">befriended dictators</a> such as arch-terrorist PLO chairman Yasser Arafat, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Daniel Ortega. His anti-Semitism has been amply documented in a spate of reports.
In 2002, Jay Nordlinger noted in “<a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2002/10/carterpalooza-jay-nordlinger-2/">Carterpalooza!</a>” that “No one quite realizes just how passionately anti-Israel Carter is. William Safire has reported that (Carter’s Secretary of State) Cyrus Vance acknowledged that, if he had had a second term, Carter would have sold Israel down the river.” Nordlinger noted of Carter’s close friendship with Arafat, “At their first meeting — in 1990 — Carter boasted of his toughness toward Israel, assuring Arafat at one point, ‘. . . you should not be concerned that I am biased. I am much more harsh with the Israelis.’”
Carter claimed Israel was an apartheid state; Holocaust scholar Deborah Lipstadt <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/opinions/2007/01/20/jimmy-carters-jewish-problem/05a69cfc-c43b-4d54-96df-452a7734a86d/">wrote</a> how Carter had “repeatedly fallen back &#8230; on traditional anti-Semitic canards.”
“He often vexed Democrats. Obama didn&#8217;t even have him speak at his &#8217;08 convention,” Jennings continued. “He put Bill Clinton in a terrible foreign policy box on a North Korea nuclear issue. I think he was a guy who had a huge ego and believed that he was uniquely positioned to do all these things even after the American people had roundly and soundly rejected his leadership.”
“So, I respect people who run for president and get elected president, but in his particular case, I think he, time and again proved, why he was never suited for the office in the first place,” Jennings stated, then added, “In the run-up to the Persian Gulf War, he wrote letters to all of our allies and to Arab states asking them to abandon their cooperation and coalition with the United States of America. If it&#8217;s not treasonous, it&#8217;s borderline treasonous.”

A George Mason student found in possession of weapons, “Death to Jews” signs, and terrorist flags previously urged the university to condemn Israel for waging “genocide” in Gaza, previously unreleased footage obtained by The Daily Wire shows.
Jena Chanaa, a graduate student who led George Mason’s now-suspended Students for Justice in Palestine chapter at the school last year, slammed the school for its “neutrality” at an April Board of Visitors meeting.

She went on to demand that the school endorse a ceasefire and acknowledge the “genocide.”

Do your part to support all students and community members affected by this genocide and call for a ceasefire now.”
Jena and her sister Noor Chanaa — who is the current co-leader of the SJP chapter — are suspected of being part of a group that defaced George Mason’s student center in August, the Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/death-to-jews-inside-the-home-of-2-sjp-leaders-at-george-mason-university-police-find-guns-ammo-and-terrorist-flags/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.

After being granted a warrant to search the Chanaa family home, police discovered Hamas and Hezbollah flags, anti-American and anti-Semitic signs, and firearms and ammunition belonging to the Chanaas’ brother, Mohammad.
Mohammad’s weapons were seized under Virginia’s red flag law, due to him being “linked to destruction of property in connection with a large group of people with like-minded rhetoric&#8221; and being a danger to others due to his possession of &#8220;terroristic&#8221; materials, the Free Beacon reported. Mohammad, who reportedly recently graduated from George Mason, later had his weapons returned by a Fairfax County circuit court judge, <a href="https://freebeacon.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/substantial-risk-order-redacted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents show</a>.
As punishment for their activity, the sisters have been barred from campus for four years, according to <a href="https://theintercept.com/2024/12/03/george-mason-fbi-gaza-palestine-israel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Intercept</a>.
Under Jana and Noor Chanaa&#8217;s leadership, George Mason’s SJP chapter celebrated Hamas’ October 7 massacre of Israeli civilians just days after the attack, describing it as the &#8220;right to resist for Palestinians living under the Zionist occupation.”
“On October 7th, 2023, Palestinian resistance fighters began mobilizing from Gaza into surrounding occupied areas, reclaiming land and seizing settlements considered illegal and a violation of international laws,” the statement reads.
The October 9 statement went on to criticize Israel for defending itself in the immediate aftermath.
“The [IDF’s] bombing of Gaza in response to the resistance is unceasing and barbaric, carrying out several massacres, leveling homes on residents’ heads, and leaving entire families martyred in a pathetic attempt to restore its broken ‘prestige’ due to historic resistance advances,” it stated.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin condemned the Chanaas in a statement, saying he has “grave concerns about the role of organizations like Students for Justice in Palestine on our campuses,” <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2024/12/gov-youngkin-says-students-for-justice-in-palestine-poses-a-clear-and-present-threat-to-jewish-students-and-the-jewish-community-in-virginia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported Jewish Insider</a>.
“These blatant and dangerous antisemitic acts pose a clear and present threat to Jewish students and the Jewish community in Virginia,” Youngkin said.

“Finally, such a raid for allegedly spray-painting property raises reasonable questions about what is happening,”  CAIR Research and Advocacy Director Corey Saylor said. “Unless George Mason administration has decided anti-genocide viewpoints require treatment outside normal due process, these measures should be rescinded.”
A faculty group released a statement expressing its &#8220;deep concern about the apparent targeting of two George Mason students for their advocacy for Palestinian human rights,” the Free Beacon reported.
The Chanaa family attorney, Abdel-Rahman Hamed, provided a statement to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2024/12/08/george-mason-university-pro-palestinian-activists/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a>, calling the situation &#8220;yet another example of the police state targeting American Muslims without cause.&#8221; A section of Hamed’s <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/abdelrahmanhamed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LinkedIn page</a> states, &#8220;I deny, defy, and defeat Zionists, antisemites, and White Supremacists,” the Free Beacon found.

Colleges and universities that did not work to stop campus anti-Semitism will face consequences under the Trump administration and Republican-dominated Senate, Senator Joni Ernst told The Daily Wire. 
“The new Senate Republican majority is going to work with the Trump administration to enforce the law in the face of campuses that have fanned the flames of hate through inaction,” the Iowa Republican told The Daily Wire. “Elite universities have made their bed, and they’ve got to lie in it, but not on the taxpayers’ dime.”
Anti-Semitic incidents have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anti-semitic-incidents-up-500-on-campuses-since-october-7-report">increased</a> by over 500% since Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israeli civilians. Ernst is one of several senators who have raised the alarm about the harm anti-Semitism has had on Jewish students. She says the Biden administration has repeatedly ignored her.
“The Biden administration ignored my repeated calls for action and sat on its hands as anti-Semitic violence exploded on college campuses across the country,” said Ernst. 
In contrast, President-elect Donald Trump has threatened both public and private universities with repercussions for enabling hatred and promoting a diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda. 
“My first week back in the Oval Office, my administration will inform every college president that if you do not end anti-Semitic propaganda, they will lose their accreditation and federal taxpayer support,” <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/trump-warns-universities-lose-accreditation-let-anti-semitism-run-wild-flashback-/26813">Donald Trump said</a> in a September speech.

“The accreditors are supposed to ensure that schools are not ripping off students and taxpayers but they have failed totally,” he said. “When I return to the White House I will fire the radical left accreditors who have allowed our colleges to become dominated by Marxist maniacs and lunatics.”
He said he would direct the Department of Justice to pursue federal civil rights cases against schools engaging in radical discrimination, and will fine schools up to the amount of their entire endowment if they continue such policies.
“And schools that persist in explicit unlawful discrimination under the guise of equity will not only have their endowment taxed, but through budget reconciliation, I will advance a measure to have them fined up to the entire amount of their endowment,” Trump said.
The risk of repercussions is not just for public schools, as private schools often receive large amounts of government funding. Harvard University, which <a href="https://brandeiscenter.com/harvards-federal-funding-likely-isnt-in-danger-but-its-leverage-for-lawmakers-to-push-changes-amid-controversy-boston-globe/">received</a> $676 million in federal research funding in 2023 alone, is currently the subject of a bipartisan congressional investigation into campus anti-Semitism.
Harvard is ranked fifth in federal funding among elite private schools, according to the Boston Globe, receiving $3.27 billion between 2018-2022. Stanford received the most at $7 billion, and Columbia University came in at second with $5.9 billion.

Columbia University stands to lose up to $3.5 billion a year — up to 55 percent of its university’s operating budget — if such policies are enacted, The Free Press<a href="https://www.thefp.com/p/trump-presidency-may-cost-columbia"> reported</a>.
Law professor Mark Goldfeder, who testified before Congress on campus anti-Semitism, said Trump’s plan has the ability to transform higher education for the better.
“The President’s plan to reform higher education by taxing private university endowments that have been flooded with money from authoritarian middle eastern regimes, and using that cash flow to create a new nonpolitical American Academy that offers a world class education free of charge, is classic Trump,” Goldfeder said.
Goldfeder pointed out that many of America’s top universities take money from or have associations with authoritarian regimes such as Qatar. Between 2001 and 2021, Qatar was one of the biggest donors to American universities, giving $4.7 billion, <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/awash-in-qatari-money-have-us-campuses-become-incubators-for-dohas-interests/">according to a 2022 study</a>. Georgetown University alone received $870 million from Qatar since 2005. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/georgetown-qatar-conference-will-feature-terrorist-linked-speakers">previously reported</a> on Georgetown hosting terrorist-linked speakers at a conference in September.
“Trump is going to build a new ivory tower, and he is going to make Qatar pay for it,” Goldfeder added.
The Daily Wire has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-dark-relationship-between-u-s-universities-and-the-anti-american-school-controlled-by-terrorists">reported</a> on Harvard partnering with Birzeit University, located near Ramallah in Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank), which could also spell trouble for the Ivy League. Birzeit is home to an overwhelmingly Hamas-affiliated student government and its chairwoman has denied Hamas’ brutality and rape on October 7. Birzeit University&#8217;s official account <a href="https://archive.ph/eRaU6">also called for</a> “glory to the martyrs” days after the attack. 
“Birzeit University has a well-documented history of discriminating against Jews and Israeli students, while welcoming suspected terrorists and Hamas supporters with open arms,” said Ernst. “Harvard University’s relationship with such an institution speaks to its shameful embrace of anti-Semitism. The American people deserve to know if Harvard has sent even a penny of the tax dollars it receives to this school that fuels hate and violence.”

Meanwhile, in Sydney, a Jewish man was detained and accused of “antagonizing” pro-Palestinian activists who were targeting the synagogue in front of which the Jewish man stood after he waved an Israeli flag across the street.

Yet Albanese and his Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, abandoned Israel earlier this week, shifted the government’s position, and split with the U.S., endorsing a UN <a href="https://documents.un.org/doc/undoc/ltd/n24/368/10/pdf/n2436810.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resolution</a> that demanded Israel end its “unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory as rapidly as possible” and “calls for the withdrawal of Israel from the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.”

That resolution, which made no demand for Hamas to return the Israeli hostages it holds, would mean Israel would have to withdraw from Judaism’s holiest place, the Temple Mount, and the Western wall that served as a retaining wall around the Biblical Holy Temple.
Opposition leader Peter Dutton <a href="//3D58E8FB-7094-4B10-8F3B-1134BB5324A9/v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slammed the decision</a>, saying, “I think the prime minister stands condemned … it&#8217;s for votes. He sold the Jewish community out for &#8216;green&#8217; votes.’ They have been prepared to sacrifice the wellbeing of the Jewish community here in Australia to do so.” A new poll from Accent Research and Redbridge Group found that Dutton would likely replace Albanese as Prime Minister next year. “It found the Dutton-led Coalition is on track to pick up at least nine seats and win an outright majority, pointing to a potential defeat for the Albanese government,” Sky News <a href="https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/politics/pm-anthony-albanese-no-chance-of-winning-majority-at-2025-federal-election-as-peter-dutton-victory-increases-new-poll-suggests/news-story/3f0f9bfc16953febe022e4cc54c4c90a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“They’re hard-Left extremists, that’s what they are,” Michael Kroger, former Liberal Party president, said. “Albanese, Wong, these people are of the hard Labor Left. It’s time for the UN to sit down and tell the world: What type of Palestinian state are we looking at? What we know is this: It’s not going to be a democracy, right? Because Hamas and Fatah don’t have (legitimate) elections. There’s not going to be freedom of the press in a Palestinian state. They’re not going to be freedom of religion unless you’re a Sunni. Student government leaders at the University of California, Los Angeles have been accused of discriminating against Jews and Zionists in hiring practices, according to a complaint filed this week.
A petition of consideration filed to UCLA’s Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) Judicial Board last week alleges that USAC Cultural Affairs Commissioner (CAC) Alicia Verdugo directed her staff to discriminate against Zionists when reviewing job applications.
A screenshot of a group message from Verdugo included in the petition shows her alerting her staff that Zionists were applying, and asking them to vet applicants.
“PSA lots of zionists are applying — please do your research when you look at applicants and I will also share a doc of no hire list during [the] retreat,” Verdugo wrote in a group chat.

The complaint, filed by Bella Brannon, Editor-In-Chief of Ha’Am, UCLA’s student-run Jewish magazine, focused on the hiring process for approximately 25<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C7Mr226RoGj/?img_index=2"> paid positions</a>, which include staff to help support their events.
A CAC document also cited in the complaint categorizes Zionism alongside hateful ideologies, stating that any staff member can be removed from their position if they’re found to exhibit “antiBlackness, colorism, racism, white supremacy, zionism, xenophobia, transphobia, sexism, misogyny, ableism, or any/all other hateful bigoted ideologies.”

UCLA has been a hotbed of anti-Semitism following Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israeli civilians, including rowdy anti-Israel protests and encampments. In August, a federal court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/court-issues-injunction-barring-ucla-from-helping-anti-semitic-agitators-target-jews">issued an injunction</a> against the university to cease permitting or supporting activities by anti-Semitic agitators who have obstructed Jewish students from accessing portions of the campus.
The petition alleges that any student who identified themselves as Jewish were rejected in the hiring process, even if their applications did not mention Zionism, Israel, or the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
“Verdugo’s direct instruction to exclude Zionist applicants and the implied directive to be on the lookout for Jewish applicants, resulted in systemic discrimination against candidates who expressed any attachment to Judaism,” the petition states.
According to <a href="https://haam.org/evidence-suggests-jewish-students-denied-from-cultural-affairs-judicial-board-petition-claims/">Ha’Am</a>, the application asked students: “What is an issue (social, political, etc.) that is relevant to you, and how would you like to address that through CAC?” Two rejected applicants reportedly responded to this question mentioning that they were Jewish, the first stating they care about the right to express identity and the other stating that they observe Jewish Sabbath laws.
None of the students hired by the CAC discussed Judaism in their applications, according to the petition, which accuses the CAC of violating state and federal laws that prohibit discrimination based on religion or ethnicity.
“By rejecting Jewish applicants and citing Zionism as a disqualifying factor, despite the applicants never explicitly referencing Zionism or their relationship to the State of Israel in their applications, Alicia Verdugo demonstrates their conflation of Judaism with Zionism,” the petition states. “In doing so, they have intentionally created a correlation between Jewish and Zionist identities to systematically discriminate against Jews, a correlation they imposed, even though many Jewish individuals naturally consider Zionism an intrinsic part of their identity.”
Brannon told The Daily Wire that Verdugo and the CAC have had several troubling controversies since the October 7 terrorist attack. 
&#8220;Verdugo is an unapologetic anti-Semite who has exploited her student fee-funded position to promote hatred against Jews long before her discriminatory hiring practices went viral,” Brannon said. “I am personally aware of dozens of complaints filed against CACs conduct with the university by students, parents, and even faculty.”
The CAC <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CyMSRCuSlAR/?img_index=2">released a statement</a>, signed by Verdugo, two days after the October 7 attack, stating that they “honor the Palestinians on the frontlines taking their land and sovereignty back!” 
In June, the CAC posted to their <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C8DYa5bSsRr/?img_index=1">Instagram account</a>, encouraging students to join their anti-Israel encampment, adding that they will “HONOR OUR MARTYRS FOREVER.”
In another post, the CAC shared a statement about how they were “honored to” be part of the encampment. 
 
“We fully support ALL forms of protest and condemn the media for continuing to criminalize students, politicize a genocide, protect Zionists and police, and platform the bullshit that this university pushes out,” <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C66oU8uR3FI/?img_index=3">it read.</a>
According to Ha’Am, the CAC is accused of denying Jewish students access to an “open mic night” titled, “F*** your bans” to complain about UCLA restricting anti-Israel encampments. The CAC also reportedly blocked a Jewish student from its UCLA-affiliated X account. Ha’Am <a href="https://haam.org/opinion-unmasking-antisemitism-expressed-by-usacs-cultural-affairs-commissioner/">also reported</a> that Verdugo, in 2023, told Jewish a student: “you simply don’t have the will or empathy to look inside yourself and understand that your parents are liars. They are white, and benefit from white supremacy regardless of religious affiliation.”
Brannon said UCLA’s administration has failed to take action despite being alerted to the statements and actions of CAC and Verdugo. 
“UCLA’s useless DEI bureaucracies and an administration supposedly tasked with protecting us have consistently failed to take meaningful action, given that her anti-Israel posts on university-affiliated channels haven’t stopped for a second since the deadliest day for Jews since the Shoah (Holocaust),” Brannon said. “By failing to hold Verdugo accountable, the university effectively emboldened her, culminating in her blatant violations of the university code and federal law through discriminatory employment practices.&#8221;
Hillel at UCLA director Dan Gold said he was &#8220;appalled that the UCLA leaders would once again openly discriminate against Jewish students.” 
Gold added that Hillel has been sounding the alarm for months and reported the text messages to the administration.
“[T]hese text messages, if validated as real, illustrate just how brazenly anti-Jewish hate is expressed unchecked at UCLA,” Gold said. “This must end &#8211; students and faculty must be held accountable for their hateful and discriminatory actions against Jewish Bruins.”
CAC and UCLA did not respond to a request for comment.

<h2>The Dreyfus Affair</h2>
While the Holocaust executed by Nazi Germany may be the most sensational example of antisemitism in Europe, hatred of Jews has been a perennial and insidious evil on the Continent since antiquity, gaining strength through the medieval period and persisting into our own time. Despised as an “inferior race,” the Jews became Europe’s routine outsider scapegoats. One of the most infamous instances of such scapegoating, the Dreyfus Affair in late-nineteenth-century France, was a harbinger of horrors to come—horrors that would necessitate the establishment of a Jewish state that would, in time, become a critical ally to the United States.
During the Third Republic, Alfred Dreyfus, a young Jewish army officer, was accused of selling military secrets to the Germans, including cutting-edge French weapon designs.(1) A document allegedly in Dreyfus’s handwriting seemed to prove his guilt, and in January 1895 he was convicted of treason by a closed court martial. In a humiliating ceremony formally expelling him from the French army, Dreyfus’s medals and insignia of rank were torn from his uniform and his sword broken, and he was paraded in front of the assembled officers, who jeered him as a traitor and a Jew. He was shipped off to Devil’s Island, the notorious penal colony off the coast of French Guiana, where the mortality rate was so high that it was known as the “dry guillotine.”

That should have been the end of Dreyfus, but the lack of substantial evidence remained troubling to some observers, as did the growing impression that he had been targeted primarily because he was a Jew. Eventually it was revealed that it would have been logistically impossible for Dreyfus to have had dealings with the Germans in question. Another suspect emerged, one whose handwriting more closely matched the incriminating document than Dreyfus’s. The case that had once seemed open and shut began to look like a set-up.
The Dreyfus Affair was hotly debated between the traditionalists, who saw the controversy as a Jewish plot to undermine traditional French military culture, and progressives, who believed the persecution of Dreyfus was a shameful manifestation of antisemitism masked by the anti-German sentiment of that period following the Franco-Prussian War. The new French President Félix Faure, who had inherited the scandal, became the de facto leader of the traditionalists, while the journalist and future prime minister Georges Clemenceau spearheaded the effort to clear Dreyfus.
On January 13, 1898, the front page of Clemenceau’s newspaper L’Aurore screamed “J’Accuse … !” Distilling the concerns and misgivings about the Dreyfus Affair into one resonant phrase, the headline introduced an open letter to President Faure by the critic and author Émile Zola. It was the most detailed account of the injustices done to Dreyfus and a warning to the president that the scandal threatened to engulf his administration. Acknowledging that his letter potentially violated the law as libel, Zola defiantly declared, “My fiery protest is the cry of my very soul.”(2)
Zola was duly convicted of libel and fled to England, but the case against Dreyfus began to fall apart. A second court martial convicted him again but commuted his sentence, and ten days later he was pardoned by a new president. Acceptance of the pardon required an admission of guilt, but Dreyfus was fully exonerated in 1906.

While justice had finally been done for Dreyfus, Jews sensed a growing threat. Many believed that they could no longer depend on assimilating into European culture, as had been the hope, but needed to establish their own state to protect themselves. The Dreyfus Affair inspired the pioneering Zionist Theodor Herzl to write The Jewish State: An Attempt at a Modern Solution to the Jewish Problem in 1896, laying out the case for reestablishing a Jewish nation in the Holy Land.
The concept was hardly new, as Jews had been living in the region for millennia and had governed it as far back as the time of King David. But for the Austro-Hungarian Herzl, the pogroms of isolation and marginalization of the nineteenth century made the project immediate and urgent. As a young man he had hoped that enlightenment would lead to the end of antisemitism. However, he came to believe that hatred of Jews in Europe was so entrenched that the only real solution was a state for Jews in their ancestral homeland, where they could live and worship in peace and security. Herzl pressed his case with everyone from the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II to Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. The organizations that would eventually provide the foundation of the Israeli government, notably the Zionist Congress and the Jewish Agency, were formed.
Herzl’s proposition was controversial, but it was also powerful, and modern Zionism gained steam after his death in 1904. Had his vision of a safe haven for Jews been realized in the early twentieth century, one of the greatest evils in history might have been avoided. But it was not yet to be. The gathering antisemitism he identified in European society spread into the mainstream in Germany in the 1920s, feeding on the general discontent following Germany’s humiliating loss in World War I.
