A federal judge dismissed the Trump administration’s lawsuit accusing Harvard of failing to protect Jewish and Israeli students from harassment, ruling Thursday that the government failed to show that the university remains in violation of federal civil rights law.
U.S. District Judge Richard Stearns granted Harvard’s motion to dismiss the case, finding that the government&#8217;s amended complaint did not sufficiently allege that Harvard is currently violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The lawsuit, filed by the Justice Department in March, accused Harvard of turning “a blind eye to antisemitism and discrimination against Jews and Israelis” following the wave of pro-Palestinian demonstrations that erupted after Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
But Stearns found that the government’s case relied overwhelmingly on incidents from the 2023-24 academic year. Only three incidents cited in the amended complaint occurred afterward, all in March 2025.
 “Without diminishing any concern arising from these occurrences,” Stearns wrote, the incidents were “too isolated and episodic” to support a finding that “any institutionalized noncompliance with Title VI persists at Harvard to this day.” 
The timing was particularly important because Title VI requires the government to notify a recipient of federal funds of its alleged noncompliance and determine that voluntary compliance cannot be secured before seeking judicial enforcement. 
The government sent Harvard that notice on June 30, 2025, but the amended complaint did not allege violations occurring after that date. Stearns said the administration&#8217;s interpretation of the law would effectively turn Title VI into a mechanism for punishing schools rather than bringing them into compliance.
The judge also rejected the administration’s alternative argument that it could seek damages for alleged violations from the 2023-24 school year.
Stearns did not rule that the earlier allegations of antisemitic harassment were false. His dismissal turned on whether the government had sufficiently alleged an ongoing violation that could support relief under Title VI. 
The Trump administration&#8217;s amended complaint pointed to incidents in which Jewish students were allegedly harassed, physically assaulted, stalked, and spat upon during campus demonstrations.
Harvard has insisted that it has taken steps to address antisemitism, including establishing a task force, changing disciplinary policies, and making administrative changes.
The university has also successfully challenged several other elements of the Trump administration’s campaign against it. Other litigation remains ongoing, including disputes over billions of dollars in federal research funding and the administration’s efforts concerning Harvard’s international students.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said the Justice Department disagreed with Stearns’ ruling and was considering its next steps. 
“The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is actively investigating antisemitism nationwide,” Dhillon <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/education/6027947-judge-dismisses-harvard-antisemitism-lawsuit/">said</a>, noting that the department has an “extensive and active portfolio” of antisemitism enforcement cases.

A recently published <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/israel-vindicated-gaza-nutrition-data-after-blood-libel-starvation-claims-un-envoy-says">survey</a> backed by the United Nations shows acute malnutrition among young children in Gaza at or below prewar levels, undermining claims that Israel deliberately starved the population during the war.
“During the war in Gaza, Israel was accused by many countries and by many U.N. <a href="https://www.un.org/unispal/document/ohchr-statement-22aug25/">officials</a> that we deliberately <a href="https://press.un.org/en/2025/sgsm22772.doc.htm">starved</a> the population in Gaza. That was a blood libel,” Israeli Ambassador Danon <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/israel-vindicated-gaza-nutrition-data-after-blood-libel-starvation-claims-un-envoy-says">told</a> Fox News on Tuesday. “When we actually answered those claims and asked our colleagues where they got the data, the answer was that they relied on Hamas reports.”
The Gaza SMART nutrition survey, coordinated by the UNICEF-led Nutrition Cluster and presented by the State of Palestine Nutrition Cluster on July 22, 2026, examined 1,335 children under age 5. The assessment covered regions home to about 83% of Gaza’s population. Roughly 17% of the population could not be surveyed because of security and operational constraints.
The survey recorded acute malnutrition rates between 0.2%-0.8% using weight-for-height measurements, with a global estimate around 0.5%. Using mid-upper arm circumference, the rate stood at 1.3%. Evaluators concluded there was “no widespread acute malnutrition at population level.” The rates were significantly lower than those in neighboring countries.
Danon argued that the latest figures debunked earlier starvation claims and said previous numbers drawn from Hamas sources were fabricated. “For the future, we shouldn’t count on a terrorist organization. We are a reliable country, we share data, we share concerns regarding humanitarian issues, and we should not collaborate with terrorists,” he said.
He pointed to specific past statements by senior international officials. U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher, in a 2025 BBC interview about border access, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0k3d1y10pzo">said</a> 14,000 babies were at risk of dying within 48 hours without immediate nutritional aid. That figure was later clarified as an 11-month projection involving children at risk of severe malnutrition.
“That was false and did not happen. Using starvation and babies to spread blood libels against Israel is outrageous,” Danon said. “We care about babies in Gaza more than those making these allegations against us.”
Danon mentioned that Israel maintained records of food supplies entering the territory throughout the conflict. “In terms of the food coming into Gaza, that was very easy for us to prove because we control the checkpoints and count the number of trucks coming in,” he explained.
The survey results arrive as prominent Left-wing and anti-Israel politicians have continued to push the claim that Israel has been starving people in Gaza.
Last year, then-New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani <a href="https://x.com/ZohranKMamdani/status/1925239850929688735">posted</a>, “Netanyahu said he’d allow aid into Gaza. He lied. For nearly 80 days, nothing has reached Gaza’s soup kitchens, bakeries, or hospitals. Thousands of babies — and countless adults — are being starved by the Israeli government. This is a heinous war crime, one that should shock and anger every single one of us.”
In a July 25, 2025, statement, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said, “After many months of Israel blocking humanitarian aid, children and other vulnerable people are starving to death in increasing numbers. The World Food Programme says that the food crisis has reached ‘new and astonishing levels of desperation, with a third of the population not eating for multiple days in a row.’ Children’s bodies are eating themselves from within, their organs are shutting down. 
“Doctors themselves are fainting from hunger,” Sanders added.

Jews were the targets in 70% of all hate crimes recorded in New York City last month, according to NYPD <a href="https://www.nyc.gov/site/nypd/news/PR012/nypd-fewest-shooting-incidents-shooting-victims-murders-recorded-history-the">data</a> released Monday. Of the 33 confirmed hate crimes citywide in July, 23 were antisemitic.
That figure is 53% higher than the 15 antisemitic incidents logged in July 2025. Jews have been targeted more than every other group combined every month for the past several years. In July, the imbalance was sharper than usual.
Since Mayor Zohran Mamdani took office on January 1, overall hate crimes in the city are up 9.4% compared with the same stretch last year, rising from 329 to 360. Confirmed anti-Jewish hate crimes stand at 205 so far in 2026, an 8.5% increase from the 189 recorded during the same period in 2025. 
That works out to one antisemitic hate crime every 25 hours on average. Jews make up roughly 10% of New York City&#8217;s population, yet 57% of all hate crimes recorded this year have targeted Jews, which is nearly identical to the share last year before Mamdani entered office.
Hate crimes against Asians, black people, and white people declined this year. Incidents targeting Hispanic people and Muslims rose, according to the NYPD.
Among the July cases: a Jewish man was stabbed with a screwdriver on the Upper West Side; an Asian man who is not Jewish was also injured in that attack. In Brooklyn, an assailant shoved a 64-year-old Jewish man to the ground while shouting antisemitic slurs. In Queens, a suspect threw bags of motor oil and feces at two synagogues.
Mamdani addressed the numbers at a Monday press conference, saying, &#8220;The work to uproot antisemitism out of this city is one that will continue until we see hate crimes come to an end in the city.&#8221;
City Council Speaker Julie Menin, who is Jewish and has pushed efforts against antisemitism in city government, said she remains “deeply concerned and very troubled by the unacceptable spike in all hate crimes, particularly driven by those targeting Jewish New Yorkers.”
Major crimes such as shootings, murders, robberies, and assaults are generally down in the city. The rise in hate crimes presents a challenge for Mamdani, who took office promising to combat hatred and has increased funding for hate crimes prevention. New York has the largest Jewish population of any city outside of Israel.
Jewish leaders have repeatedly warned that the mayor’s anti-Israel rhetoric risks fueling more antisemitism. Last month, several prominent Jewish leaders and groups criticized a video in which Mamdani called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal,” while noting that as mayor he lacked the power to arrest him during any visit to New York.

According to a shocking <a href="https://www.thejournal.ie/dassault-falcon-6x-irish-air-corps-government-jet-elbit-7117818-Aug2026/?lang=en">report</a> from The Journal, Ireland’s brand-new $61 million Dassault Falcon 6X government jet, which was purchased specifically to transport top officials and ministers was delivered without a vital, state-of-the-art infrared mapping system.
Why? Because the cutting-edge &#8220;FalconEye&#8221; system, which uses specialized infra-red technology to allow pilots to safely land through low visibility and thick fog, happens to be manufactured by Elbit Systems, a top Israeli defense company.
Rather than signing off on a contract with an Israeli vendor, stubborn Dublin bureaucrats threw a geopolitical temper tantrum and opted to leave the safety feature completely off the plane.
Now, the ruling elite’s shiny new joyride is rendered practically useless whenever the weather gets dicey.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face; while everyday pilots rely on advanced technology to stay safe in unpredictable skies, Ireland’s grandstanding politicians are voluntarily risking mid-air diversions and grounded flights just to keep its anti-Israel boycott intact.
This self-inflicted humiliation is just the latest chapter in Ireland’s obsessive crusade against Israel. Over the past few years, Dublin has eagerly led the anti-Israel charge in Europe. The hostility became so toxic that Israel <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/15/europe/israel-ireland-embassy-closure-intl/index.html#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20actions%20and%20antisemitic%20rhetoric,to%20a%20foreign%20ministry%20statement.">officially closed</a> its embassy in Dublin, citing the country&#8217;s relentless double standards.
Irish leaders like Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris have insisted their policies are merely about &#8220;human rights,&#8221; but this latest blunder exposes the sheer stupidity of the country&#8217;s woke dogma. In its rush to appease radical leftists and boycott Jewish technology, the Irish government ended up crippling its own official aircraft.
While Dublin’s political class sits stranded on the runway waiting for the fog to clear, Jerusalem is undoubtedly enjoying a well-deserved chuckle.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said Thursday that she will skip next month&#8217;s Michigan Democratic Party convention because she fears being harassed, adding another flashpoint to a party increasingly divided over Israel and antisemitism during a bitter U.S. Senate primary.
Speaking during a <a href="https://michiganadvance.com/2026/07/30/nessel-says-she-wont-attend-michigan-dems-convention-over-safety-concerns/">roundtable</a> discussion with Jewish leaders and community members, Nessel said she no longer feels safe attending the party&#8217;s August 29 convention in Lansing after what she described as repeated harassment.
&#8220;I feel like my presence isn&#8217;t going to be welcome. I don&#8217;t want to get chased around. I don&#8217;t want to get harassed. I don&#8217;t want to get yelled and screamed at. I don&#8217;t want to get booed off the stage, irrespective of what I&#8217;m saying,&#8221; Nessel said. &#8220;And I believe that if I go, that is what will happen because it&#8217;s been happening to me.&#8221;
Nessel also criticized Democratic Party leadership for failing to adequately respond to concerns she said she had repeatedly raised about individuals who have targeted her, warning that antisemitism on the political Left has become a growing problem within the party. 
&#8220;I will speak as a member of the Democratic Party here in Michigan, that some things have changed,&#8221; Nessel said. &#8220;This cannot continue, and the fact of the matter is, we have to be able to be a society where we can have intelligent discourse and debate about ideas without people being threatened, and certainly without people carrying out those threats.&#8221;
Her comments come as Michigan Democrats are engaged in one of the country&#8217;s most closely watched Senate primaries, with the party&#8217;s ideological divide over Israel increasingly spilling into public view.
Left-wing candidate Abdul El-Sayed has embraced some of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most vocal anti-Israel activists during the campaign, including <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hasan-piker-michigan-senate-race-abdul-el-sayed/">campaigning</a> with far-Left political streamer Hasan Piker. Third Way, a center-left think tank, <a href="https://x.com/ThirdWayTweet/status/2036484738022596671?s=20">condemned the partnership</a>, calling Piker &#8220;anti-American, anti-women, anti-western and antisemitic&#8221; and arguing he should be &#8220;pushed to the fringe, not welcomed onto the stage.&#8221; El-Sayed dismissed the criticism in an interview with <a href="https://michiganadvance.com/2026/03/25/michigans-el-sayed-unfazed-by-backlash-against-upcoming-campaign-event-with-hasan-piker/">Michigan Advance</a>, portraying it as an attack from establishment Democrats and &#8220;corporate-funded think tanks.&#8221;

&#8220;There is,&#8221; McMorrow <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2026/05/mcmorrow-says-dems-have-an-antisemitism-problem-during-mich-senate-debate/">replied</a> when asked whether antisemitism was a problem within the party. &#8220;That is terrifying,&#8221; she added.
El-Sayed, by contrast, argued that antisemitism and Islamophobia both stem from &#8220;the scourge of white supremacy&#8221; before pivoting to criticism of U.S. support for Israel. 
&#8220;We can walk and chew gum at the same time,&#8221; El-Sayed said. &#8220;It should not mean that we allow our money to subsidize apartheid and genocide.&#8221;
Responding to Nessel&#8217;s decision not to attend the convention, Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Derrick Honeyman said the party remains committed to ensuring the gathering is safe for all attendees. 
&#8220;We reject antisemitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of hateful conduct,&#8221; Honeyman said. &#8220;We are working diligently with stakeholders, elected officials, and party membership to prepare for our August convention and look forward to welcoming Michigan Democrats to the Lansing Center on August 29.&#8221;

Former Rep. Cori Bush is attempting a political comeback in the 2026 midterms, hoping to reclaim Missouri&#8217;s deep-blue 1st Congressional District from the Democrat who unseated her two years ago.
Bush, a former member of the far-left Squad, is challenging Rep. Wesley Bell (D-MO) in a rematch of the expensive 2024 Democratic primary. Because the St. Louis-area district is overwhelmingly Democratic, the winner of Tuesday&#8217;s primary is heavily favored to return to Washington in January.
The race has become yet another test of whether the Democratic Party&#8217;s recent leftward shift — fueled by victories from left-wing and Democratic-Socialist candidates in cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Denver — extends towards one of the movement&#8217;s most recognizable national figures.
Bush&#8217;s campaign also revives one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most contentious internal divides: support for Israel.
When <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/wesley-bell-backed-by-aipac-defeats-squad-member-cori-bush-in-st-louis-distrct-primary">Bell defeated Bush in 2024</a>, the race became one of the most expensive House primaries in American history after pro-Israel groups, led by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee&#8217;s United Democracy Project, poured $9.3 million into the contest. Bush had become one of Congress&#8217; most outspoken critics of Israel after introducing one of the first congressional resolutions calling for a ceasefire following Hamas&#8217; October 7, 2023 terrorist attack.
Bell has continued backing military assistance for Israel while arguing the United States must support allies confronting hostile regimes. &#8220;I think we have to support our allies not only in Israel, but in Taiwan and in Ukraine,&#8221; Bell said during a recent <a href="https://www.stlpr.org/government-politics-issues/2026-07-29/missouri-primary-bush-bell-democrat-litmus">joint appearance</a> with Bush. &#8220;They are on the front lines of our sworn enemies.&#8221;
Over the past year, several insurgent Democratic candidates who criticized party leadership and took hard-line positions against U.S. support for Israel have won competitive primaries, leading progressives to argue that voters are increasingly rewarding candidates willing to challenge the Democratic establishment.
For their part, establishment Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) have endorsed Bell&#8217;s reelection. Bell has argued that his first term demonstrates he can effectively work within Congress while delivering results for the district, particularly following the devastating tornado that struck St. Louis in 2025.
Bush has countered that Bell has failed to provide the aggressive leadership voters expected, criticizing what she characterizes as an inadequate response to the tornado recovery effort and arguing the district needs a more confrontational representative willing to challenge both Republicans and Democratic leadership.
&#8220;The fight does not end because I got my feelings hurt,&#8221; Bush <a href="https://19thnews.org/2026/07/cori-bush-missouri-primaries/">told supporters</a>. &#8220;If you&#8217;re a true fighter, you get knocked down, and I got back up.&#8221;
Bush first rose to national prominence as an activist during the 2014 Ferguson protests following the police shooting of Michael Brown before defeating longtime Democratic Rep. William Lacy Clay in 2020. During her two terms in Congress, she became one of the most recognizable members of the Squad alongside Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
Her tenure frequently put her at odds with Democratic leadership. Bush opposed former President Joe Biden&#8217;s bipartisan infrastructure package, advocated defunding police departments, slept on the Capitol steps to protest the expiration of the federal eviction moratorium, and became one of Congress&#8217; earliest and loudest critics of Israel.
Bell continues to support military assistance for Israel while Bush remains committed to cutting it off, making the issue one of the few major policy differences separating the candidates, who agree on many domestic issues.
For the left, a Bush victory would mark the return of one of the movement&#8217;s original national standard-bearers and suggest the Democratic Party&#8217;s activist base continues moving leftward after several high-profile primary victories around the country.
For Democratic leadership, another Bell victory would reinforce the coalition that removed Bush from office in 2024 and demonstrate that establishment-backed incumbents can still withstand challenges from the party&#8217;s activist wing.
The Missouri primaries are scheduled for Tuesday, August 4.

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) unloaded on a reporter from radical outlet Drop Site News, claiming that the outlet was actively participating in a race to see who could be the most pro-Hamas.
Fetterman, when approached by a reporter in a Capitol Hill hallway, immediately asked him to identify the outlet he was representing — and upon learning that it was Julian Andreone from Drop Site News, the Pennsylvania senator immediately started questioning him about who funded them.
Andreone introduced himself, and Fetterman immediately asked, &#8220;Who are you with?&#8221;
&#8220;Drop Site News,&#8221; Andreone replied.

&#8220;46,000 individual donors,&#8221; Andreone insisted.
&#8220;Your founders think it&#8217;s appropriate to attack and kill Israeli civilians. That&#8217;s really — that should be the news overall,&#8221; Fetterman said, referencing Drop Site News co-founder Jeremy Scahill, who recently attempted to get <a href="https://x.com/DropSiteNews/status/2077101764277399717">Rep. Ro Khanna</a> (D-CA) to say that the October 7 Hamas-perpetrated attacks on Israeli soldiers may have been &#8220;justified.&#8221; In addition, he argued that the Hamas attackers were specifically targeting Israeli soldiers and that civilians had only been caught in the crossfire.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s plan to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu came to a screeching halt and turned into a social media post on Tuesday night after he realized mayors cannot arrest foreign leaders. 
“My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law to determine whether New York City could execute the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here,” he said. “It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant.” 
Mamdani then said that even though his administration does not have the authority to arrest Netanyahu, he wants “to be equally clear, Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City.” 
Mamdani then called on President Donald Trump to execute the International Criminal Court’s warrant. On Monday, Trump said that Netanyahu will not be arrested “in any way, shape, or form while in the United States of America.” 
Trump’s comments came after Netanyahu&#8217;s office responded to Mamdani’s original arrest threat, saying, “The ICC is a kangaroo court that has no jurisdiction over Americans or Israelis. Its bogus arrest warrant against Prime Minister Netanyahu was issued by a disgraced former ICC Prosecutor, Karim Khan, a few days before allegations of sexual misconduct against him became public. It was a clear attempt by Khan to divert public attention and seek protection from scrutiny.&#8221;
“Instead of backing Khan&#8217;s criminal behavior, Mr. Mamdani should focus on fixing the damage his policies have caused New York,&#8221; Netanyahu&#8217;s office added. 
The Israeli prime minister is <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/politics/mamdani-arresting-netanyahu-visits-nyc-un-general-assembly/">expected</a> to travel to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly this fall. 
While Mamdani focuses on condemning Netanyahu, New York City continues to face challenges with violent crime and the economy. On Monday, an anti-ICE activist lit an incendiary device at the entrance to the city’s largest immigration court. Months earlier, two men threw improvised explosive devices into a crowd of people protesting. The bombs did not detonate. 
Affordability — the centerpiece of Mamdani&#8217;s campaign — has also remained a major concern. In the last month, Manhattan&#8217;s median asking rent <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/13/us-news/nyc-housing-crisis-hits-defcon-1-as-rents-jump-to-more-all-time-highs/">climbed</a> to a record $5,295, an 8% increase from a year earlier. 
In his seventh month in office, Mamdani&#8217;s approval rating sits at under <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/us/news-today/article/zohran-mamdani-approval-rating-polls-popularity-32vr9jqhm">40%</a>. While Mamdani remains most popular with young New Yorkers, his popularity with baby boomers saw a large increase, from 21% to 35%, since he was elected.
Mamdani&#8217;s success has lifted the democratic socialist movement across the country with other members gaining traction. Two Democratic Socialists of America-backed candidates recently won congressional primaries for U.S. House in New York City.

A shareholder revolt against The New York Times is gaining serious legal muscle, with a growing bloc of law firms now threatening to drag the paper of record into court unless it hands over internal records probing whether its board has been asleep at the wheel while the newsroom churns out coverage slanted against Israel.
On Tuesday, the National Center for Public Policy Research, backed by the National Jewish Advocacy Center (NJAC) and two heavyweight firms, fired off a fresh <a href="https://freebeacon.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Renewed-and-Supplemental-Demand-for-Inspection-of-Books-and-Records-of-The-New-York-Times-Company.pdf">demand letter</a> giving Times brass until July 21 to cough up board materials or face a lawsuit in Manhattan&#8217;s Supreme Court, The Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/media/exclusive-two-new-law-firms-threaten-new-york-times-with-shareholder-suit-over-gaza-rape-story-and-softball-investigation-of-platner-accuse-times-of-push/">reported</a> on Tuesday.
&#8220;The inclusion of two new prominent law firms — Grant &amp; Eisenhofer and Schall, Brown &amp; Schwartz — on NJAC&#8217;s campaign suggests that the Times may face difficulty dismissing their fresh concerns, which extend past mere anti-Israel bias to now encompass velvet-gloved reporting on two high-profile, anti-Israel Democrats,&#8221; the Free Beacon noted.
This is round two. The coalition first came knocking in May, furious over a widely panned Nicholas Kristof column that accused Israeli forces of using dogs to sexually assault Palestinian detainees — allegations that leaned heavily on sources tied to Hamas and that the paper&#8217;s own executive editor later admitted his newsroom &#8220;probably wouldn&#8217;t have&#8221; run &#8220;that exact piece.&#8221;
Now the group says things have only gotten worse. Its new target: the Times&#8217; soft-touch June investigation into Senate candidate Graham Platner, who was accused by ex-girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield of a horrifying pattern of abuse. The paper said it couldn&#8217;t corroborate her account — even though, Fifield says, she handed reporters witnesses, screenshots, diary entries, and more. Platner&#8217;s campaign didn&#8217;t implode until a second woman, this time a Democrat, told POLITICO he&#8217;d raped her.
The lawyers argue the Times gave shifting, contradictory explanations for its reporting standards — telling one outlet the story met &#8220;our standards,&#8221; and another that it only included facts that were confirmable — and say that inconsistency alone justifies letting shareholders peek behind the curtain.
&#8220;Stockholder seeks to investigate whether the Board is engaging in any form of oversight to ensure that the New York Times remains a news reporting agency worth anything to its stockholders, rather than becoming viewed by the public as a simple propaganda arm that selects its articles and reporting in a way that ignores truth in favor of pushing false narratives,&#8221; the letter states.
The letter also revives an ugly side-by-side: a March story that framed New York Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman&#8217;s wife as courting controversy over pro-Israel social media likes, versus a far gentler piece days later about democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s wife, who&#8217;d liked posts celebrating the October 7 massacre. Critics say the paper bent over backward to protect one and pounce on the other.
Beyond the Israel-related complaints, the filing dredges up the Times&#8217; long history of humiliating corrections — from the Wen Ho Lee <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2000/09/26/nyregion/the-times-and-wen-ho-lee.html">spying debacle</a> to the &#8220;Caliphate&#8221; <a href="https://www.npr.org/2020/12/18/944594193/new-york-times-retracts-hit-podcast-series-caliphate-on-isis-executioner">podcast hoax</a> to a <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/york-times-retracts-massive-exaggeration-163906675.html">wildly inflated</a> child COVID hospitalization figure — arguing it all points to a board that looks away until public embarrassment forces its hand.
The Times, for its part, isn&#8217;t budging, with a spokeswoman dismissing the campaign, saying, “As we told the National Jewish Advocacy Center and National Center for Public Policy Research in response to an earlier demand letter, while positioned under corporate law, it is a clear attempt to chill First Amendment-protected journalism.”
But the shareholders insist this isn&#8217;t about politics or the First Amendment — it&#8217;s about whether the people overseeing America&#8217;s most influential newspaper are actually doing their jobs. If the Times doesn&#8217;t blink by July 21, the fight moves to a courtroom.

On Wednesday, that ambition was on full display as he tap-danced around a direct question about his party&#8217;s newest crop of Israel-bashing socialists — brushing off the widening rift as a distraction from his own brand of buttoned-up &#8220;pragmatism.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.ms.now/morning-joe/watch/gov-shapiro-trump-s-chaos-and-cruelty-is-infecting-everything-2505282115932">Pressed</a> by MS NOW&#8217;s Willie Geist on whether hard-Left firebrands out of New York and Colorado risk becoming the face of the Democratic Party nationally, Shapiro punted.
“Do you worry, though, governor, about some of these candidates in these high-profile races in New York and now in Colorado will be elevated as representative of Democrats nationally with some of their extreme views?” Geist asked.
“I mean, look — here in Pennsylvania, folks know what pragmatism results and getting stuff done looks like, because they see me, they see other Democrats who are doing that in our commonwealth. Look, I want to work with anyone to get stuff done,” Shapiro replied.

Shapiro refused to confront the elephant — or camel — in the room.
That elephant has a name, or rather <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jun/24/israel-critics-sweep-new-york-house-primaries-signaling-democratic/">several</a>. Brad Lander, the self-styled &#8220;liberal Zionist&#8221; who in his victory speech accused Israel of “genocide” and “apartheid” and declared that Americans were “paying for Netanyahu’s wars with our tax dollars.”
New York U.S. House candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier <a href="https://www.cityandstateny.com/politics/2026/06/avila-chevalier-attended-oct-8-pro-palestinian-rally-lander-condemned/413981/">showed up</a> to a Times Square rally the day after Hamas butchered 1,200 Israelis — October 8, 2023 — and later refused to condemn the attacks at a candidate forum, instead <a href="https://www.cityandstateny.com/politics/2026/06/avila-chevalier-attended-oct-8-pro-palestinian-rally-lander-condemned/413981/">lecturing</a> moderators about “75 years of occupation.” She spent her New York primary campaign branding Israel an “apartheid state.”
Another New York U.S. House candidate, Claire Valdez, marched with the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace for years, reportedly co-sponsored Mamdani’s “Not on Our Dime!” legislation targeting charities that fund West Bank settlements, and <a href="https://www.cityandstateny.com/politics/2026/06/mysterious-pro-reynoso-super-pac-funded-teachers-union-not-aipac/414238/">falsely accused</a> her opponent, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, of being bankrolled by AIPAC — a claim her own campaign finance filings blew up.
And now Colorado&#8217;s Melat Kiros, fresh off toppling 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette while <a href="https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/jta/really-alarmed-jewish-groups-concerned-about-democratic-socialist-on-colorado-ballot/article_447c18dd-fa78-5de5-95f7-60e2650d1014.html">calling</a> for a total arms embargo on the Jewish state and refusing to label the Boulder firebombing an act of antisemitism.
All were cheered on by Mayor Mamdani&#8217;s growing socialist machine. None drew so much as a syllable of pushback from Shapiro on air.
It&#8217;s not hard to see why. Shapiro, still nursing the sting of getting passed over for Kamala Harris&#8217;s ticket in 2024 — a snub widely chalked up to Democratic squeamishness about his faith — knows exactly how combustible this topic is for a man eyeing 2028. Distance yourself too loudly from the socialist wing and risk the base. Cozy up and risk everything else.
Except Shapiro&#8217;s own recent Israel commentary has <a href="https://www.jns.org/opinion/morton-a-klein/pennsylvania-jewish-governor-wrongly-points-fingers-at-trump-and-netanyahu?utm_source=chatgpt.com">hardly been a profile in courage</a>. On the &#8220;All-In&#8221; podcast, he accused Benjamin Netanyahu of &#8220;leading around&#8221; and &#8220;bullying&#8221; Trump into confronting Iran — the same &#8220;bully&#8221; label he&#8217;s slapped on Trump himself over Venezuela and Canada, but somehow reserved for Israel&#8217;s prime minister when Tehran was the target. Critics, including the Zionist Organization of America, called the framing straight out of the &#8220;Jews control America&#8221; playbook — a particularly bitter irony for a governor whose own home was firebombed on the first night of Passover last year.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), one of Congress&#8217;s most outspoken supporters of Israel, easily defeated a Left-wing primary challenger Tuesday night, surviving an effort by leftist activists to unseat him and drawing an angry response from anti-Israel communist commentator Hasan Piker.
Torres cruised to victory in New York&#8217;s 15th congressional district, defeating former state Assemblyman Michael Blake by a wide margin. With nearly all votes counted, Torres captured roughly 72% of the vote compared to Blake&#8217;s 22%.
The result represents a significant victory for one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most prominent pro-Israel voices at a time when leftist activists have increasingly targeted lawmakers who support the Jewish state. Among those reacting furiously to the outcome was Left-wing streamer Piker, who has frequently clashed with Torres over Israel, antisemitism, and foreign policy.

Piker continued by warning Torres that he would continue scrutinizing the congressman&#8217;s pro-Israel positions. &#8220;Every day, every time there&#8217;s a decision that you can make where you are pro-Israel, I hope you remember. … You better act right, Ritchie.&#8221;
The remarks highlight a years-long feud between the congressman and one of the internet&#8217;s most influential leftist commentators.
Torres has repeatedly accused Piker of spreading antisemitic rhetoric and promoting anti-American extremism. In 2024, Torres sent a <a href="https://ritchietorres.house.gov/congressman-ritchie-torres-writes-to-executives-at-twitch-and-amazon-hasan-piker-is-dangerous">letter</a> to Twitch and Amazon executives condemning Piker, whom he described as a major source of antisemitic content online.
The congressman&#8217;s letter cited a series of controversial statements from Piker, including comments minimizing the significance of sexual violence committed during Hamas&#8217;s October 7 attack on Israel, remarks sympathetic to Hezbollah, and his infamous claim that &#8220;America deserved 9/11.&#8221;
Torres also accused Piker of platforming extremists and helping fuel the rise of antisemitism on social media.
Despite becoming a frequent target of attacks from his left flank, Torres has continued to carve out a unique position within the Democratic Party. The Bronx congressman formally broke with the Congressional Progressive Caucus in 2024 and has become one of the most forceful Democratic critics of anti-Israel activism.
Blake attempted to capitalize on growing dissatisfaction with Israel among Democratic voters and had previously aligned himself politically with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during last year&#8217;s mayoral race.
However, Mamdani notably stayed out of the congressional contest, depriving Blake of the endorsement many on the Left of Torres hoped would help unite the anti-Torres vote.
Torres also enjoyed a massive fundraising advantage throughout the campaign. Federal filings showed the congressman raising nearly $6.7 million compared to roughly $412,000 for Blake.
The decisive victory suggests that while socialist and leftist candidates scored several victories elsewhere in New York on Tuesday, efforts to oust Torres failed to gain meaningful traction among Democratic voters in the Bronx.
Instead, voters handed Torres another overwhelming primary victory and rejected one of the highest-profile attempts by the Democratic Party&#8217;s activists to punish a lawmaker for his support of Israel.
For Piker and other anti-Israel activists who have spent years attacking Torres online, Tuesday night&#8217;s results amounted to a clear setback. For Torres, they served as another demonstration that his brand of unapologetic support for Israel remains politically viable even as much of his party continues moving Left on the issue.

President Donald Trump and Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) blasted &#8220;Dumocrat Communists&#8221; and the “dirt bag Left” after the success of democratic socialist candidates in New York’s U.S. House primaries on Tuesday. 
As all three socialist congressional candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their congressional primaries, Fetterman said war was being declared on “regular Democrats&#8221; and that his party was becoming increasingly out of step with the American people. 
“It&#8217;s just been the dancing days of the dirt bag Left with some of these candidates are outrageous,” Fetterman <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399220644112">said</a> in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. “You have candidates they [want to] abolish ICE, abolish the police, abolish the border.”

Far-Left Democrat socialists Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier both declared victory in their respective primary races. Avila Chevalier is a self-described “prison abolitionist” and opposes deporting any illegal immigrants. 
“A lot of these candidates that very likely are going to win tonight, just declaring a war on just regular Democrats,” Fetterman said.
“They&#8217;re all socialists, of course, and now there&#8217;s a communist and now a Marxist,” he said. “We have P-Hustle in Maine. You know, that&#8217;s another one. He&#8217;s a self-avowed communist, too. Well, that&#8217;s not even looked down on, and it&#8217;s a significant part of the Democratic Party right now.”
“P-Hustle” was the username that Maine Democrat nominee Graham Platner used for years to post anti-Christian, vulgar, and sexual comments on social media. 
In addition to the victories of Valdez and Avila Chevalier, former New York comptroller Brad Lander defeated incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman. 
President Donald Trump also reacted to the results from New York, writing on Truth Social early Wednesday morning, &#8220;America the Beautiful will NEVER be a Communist Country!!!&#8221;
In another post Wednesday morning, Trump called out &#8220;Dumocrat Communists.&#8221;
&#8220;Even though he tried unsuccessfully to prosecute me, and despite the fact that he is a major Slimeball, I feel sorry for FORMER Congressman Dan Goldman. He is wandering aimlessly, together with the former husband of the great Kellyanne Conway, through a large field of Dumocrat Communists, trying so hard to find his way &#8211; A very sad finish for a man who has no clue, and never did!!!&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116804998509920399">wrote</a>.
Fetterman added that his party has been taken over by the “full pro-Hamas wing.” He added that hate for Israel has become “the center of a lot of these primaries across the country, and definitely, definitely, what we&#8217;re witnessing in New York City.”
“Now that&#8217;s going to become the lesson that the Democratic Party is going to continue to be anti-Israel, and I&#8217;ll be the one that&#8217;s going to continue to lean in and be proud to stand with Israel,” Fetterman said. 
The results could prove to be troublesome for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) who endorsed the opponents of both Lander and Avila Chevalier. 
Reacting to the results, GOP spokesman Mike Marinella said that Americans should be “terrified.” 
“Tonight wasn’t just a bad night for so-called ‘Leader’ Hakeem Jeffries,” he said. “It was the night the Democrat establishment officially surrendered to Zohran Mamdani and the socialist wing of their party. Every House Democrat, in safe and competitive districts alike, will now answer to the radicals calling the shots. And Americans should be terrified by where the Democrat Party is headed.”
