<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/internet-sensation-peanut-the-squirrel-euthanized-by-new-york-state-government" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Peanut the Squirrel</a> and his pal Fred the raccoon’s owners have filed their intent to sue to the State of New York after they said their beloved pets “</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">were executed, not euthanized” when they were seized in a raid by </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">officials to be “tested for rabies.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the official notice against the state, the guardians of the two animals, Mark Longo and his </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">partner Daniela Bittner, accused the state of </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">unlawful search and seizure, violation of freedom of speech, and other violations, </span><a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/11/27/peanut-the-squirrel-owner-notice-intends-sue-new-york/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">TMZ</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> reported. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">They are also suing for emotional distress, as well as lost wages.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The animals were</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> seized from Longo’s home in upstate New York on October 30 by officials with the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and then euthanized.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At the time of the raid, the Associated Press </span><a href="https://apnews.com/article/peanut-pet-squirrel-seized-euthanized-45a4cba19e1c49cb0cd58fef0f140f0d"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that the DEC took both animals from the Longos’ home. The agency reportedly said it received complaints that wildlife was potentially at risk and being kept illegally. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the notice to the state from their attorney, Nora Constance Marino, the couple claim, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It is submitted that the notion that a DEC agent and/or other respondents’ agent was ‘bitten’ by Peanut may be false and/or manufactured,” the </span><a href="https://nypost.com/2024/11/27/us-news/pnut-the-squirrels-family-set-to-sue-nys-as-they-claim-agents-may-have-made-up-story-to-execute-decapitate-beloved-pet/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">New York Post</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> reported.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It is further submitted that even if an agent was in fact bitten, killing Peanut would still be unnecessary, unjustified, improper, and illegal, it is further submitted that there is no claim that Fred the raccoon bit anyone, and thus, the killing of Fred was unnecessary, unjustified, improper, and illegal,” the notice added, claiming that the animals were not wild, but legal companions, and thus there was no </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">reason they had to be killed.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“DEC is aware of an individual in Chemung County who is known to illegally possess an adult gray squirrel and at least 4 young raccoons. They may also be in possession of other illegal wildlife species,” the DEC said in a message to the county on October 22. “We would like to know if the Health Department would recommend these animals be tested for rabies as a precaution for human safety.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On October 30, DEC raided Longo’s home and took the animals, which were both killed that day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Animal decap requested on: 10/30/24,” read a rabies report for Peanut and Fred, also released by Chemung County, who said an investigation into the matter was ongoing.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">More than 40 monkeys escaped from a bio-medical research lab in </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Beaufort County, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/south-carolina" target="_blank" rel="noopener">South Carolina</a>, on Wednesday afternoon after a caretaker accidentally failed to secure a door at an enclosure, allowing the primates to escape.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a public service announcement on Thursday from the </span><a href="https://www.facebook.com/yemasseepolice"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yemassee Police Department</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, it said the police received an alert from Alpha Genesis Primate Research facility “regarding the escape of numerous Rhesus Macaque primates from their enclosures,” and police have warned citizens to lock their doors and windows.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The number has since been confirmed to be 43,” the announcement read. “The primates are described as very young females weighing approximately 6-7lbs, the animals have never been used for testing due to their young age and size.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“A spokesperson from Alpha Genesis can confirm that these animals are too young to carry disease,” the statement added. “The Yemassee Police Department, in collaboration with Alpha Genesis, have initiated search teams to help locate the escaped primates. Alpha Genesis currently have eyes on the primates and are working to entice them with food.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Residents are strongly advised to keep doors and windows secured to prevent these animals from entering homes,&#8221; police said in the statement. &#8220;If you spot any of the escaped animals, please contact 911 immediately and refrain from approaching them.&#8221;</span></p>

More Than 40 Monkeys Escape From Bio-Research Lab In South Carolina

<p>Peanut the Squirrel was more than just a social media sensation. He was also the namesake of an animal rescue run by the New York couple that adopted him.</p>
<p>Last year, Mark and Daniele Longo <a href="https://www.pnutsfreedomfarm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opened</a> P’Nuts Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, “a haven where neglected and homeless animals receive a second chance at life” named after their pet squirrel, who they rescued seven years ago. The sanctuary, which they say has helped 350 animals, was made possible in a large part by donations gathered through Peanut’s viral social media accounts.</p>
<p>Now that Peanut has been euthanized by New York State, Mark Longo worries the sanctuary may be in trouble.</p>
<p>“We’ve relied heavily on PNUT and his internet family to gather donations to help more animals,” Longo <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBwhVpdymnG/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=2d974739-6fb5-45c5-b805-ffd3a6adc4ce" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote on Instagram</a>. “I don’t even know how [we] will continue to fundraise for this nonprofit.”</p>
<p>Longo says he is uncertain why the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) chose to seize and euthanize Peanut after seven years, during which time there had been no complaints about Peanut. But according to Center For Consumer Freedom Managing Director Will Coggin, the DEC’s actions are inline with the misguided approach of the animal welfare movement.</p>
<p>“The death of Peanut appears to track with a broader trend in the animal rights movement of killing animals,” Coggin told The Daily Wire. “Sadly, many of these people have a ‘better dead than fed’ mentality.”</p>
<p>Coggin pointed to one “shocking” case of Maya the Chihuahua, who PETA employees allegedly took from a Virginia family’s front porch and euthanized.</p>
<p>Maya’s owner, Wilbur Cerate, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20141116095105/http://wavy.com/2014/11/12/man-claims-peta-stole-killed-family-pet/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told WAVY</a> at the time that security footage from his home shows two women exiting a PETA van that pulls up to his property, putting Maya in the van, and driving away. Cerate told WAVY that the women returned three days later with “a fruit basket and terrible news — Maya had been euthanized.”</p>

<p>Accomack County Sheriff Todd Godwin charged the workers with larceny, but the local commonwealth’s attorney dropped the charge.</p>
<p>According to Coggin, Peanut and Maya are just two of many animals who have suffered such fates.</p>
<p>“PETA euthanized 79% of the dogs and cats it took in last year at its ‘shelter,’ which state inspectors likened to a ‘euthanasia clinic,’” Coggin said.</p>
<p>Though PETA has national recognition, Center For Consumer Freedom data suggests that it’s smaller animal rescues like P’Nuts Freedom Farm that do the majority of actual rescuing.</p>
<p>The group <a href="https://consumerfreedom.com/2023/04/petas-25-year-anniversary-of-killing-pets/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> that PETA only adopted 58 animals in 2022, a 2.1% adoption rate. The nearby Norfolk Animal Care &amp; Adoption Center, it said, took in 4,337 animals that year, and had a euthanasia rate of just 10%.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/peanut_the_squirrel12/?igsh=MTg4MHk4cTdrOGsxag%3D%3D"><span style="font-weight: 400;">account</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for the seven-year-old Peanut are thousands of posts of the squirrel with his guardian Mark Longo ranging from the two munching on waffles to Peanut decked out wearing a Santa hat while drawing attention to Longo’s non-profit animal sanctuary and rescue operation, “</span><a href="https://www.pnutsfreedomfarm.com/?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaY7gFjZFaI40Ua8OYJ4dwynYQYf_Gk9_uA6SCc5MC109Zl6pbEYYhrd67E_aem_Tzc__dlVhNe1-Xnk1p1_FQ"><span style="font-weight: 400;">P’Nut’s Freedom Farm</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Some of the best videos that stood out showed the very docile, trained squirrel clearly having the time of his life before he was seized by six officials from New York state’s Department of Environmental Conservation to be “tested for rabies,” according to </span><a href="https://www.mytwintiers.com/chemung-county/peanut-the-squirrel-euthanized-by-dec-to-test-for-rabies/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">WTEM</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The first video is dated April 17, 2017, when the squirrel was rescued by Longo after he saw the squirrel’s mom hit by a car, the </span><a href="https://nypost.com/2024/11/01/us-news/peanut-the-squirrel-beloved-pet-and-internet-sensation-put-to-death-by-new-york-state/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">New York Post </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">noted.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From there, the videos show the little guy becoming instantly close with his guardian as the two enjoy going on walks together, playing games, and even getting kisses and love from Longo.</span></p>

The squirrel understands the instruction and launches far into the air, flying and landing on his arm perfectly. <p>New York State officials poked a virtual hornet&#8217;s nest when they confiscated and euthanized internet sensation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/internet-sensation-peanut-the-squirrel-euthanized-by-new-york-state-government">Peanut the squirrel</a> and a raccoon named Fred that was also rescued and kept as a pet.</p>
<p>Mark and Daniela Longo, Peanut&#8217;s owners, told TMZ that state officials had raided their home as if they were &#8220;drug dealers&#8221; and had taken both the squirrel and the raccoon — which they had rescued and kept in their home — and euthanized them.</p>
<p>&#8220;It not only tears my family apart, but Peanut was the cornerstone of our non-profit animal rescue,” Longo said. “And ten to twelve DEC officers raided my house as if I was a drug dealer. I sat outside my house for five hours. I had to get a police escort to my bathroom. I wasn’t even allowed to feed my rescue horses breakfast or lunch. I sat there like a criminal after they interrogated my wife to check her immigration status.&#8221;</p>

<p>Democrat-led New York State came under fire Saturday following the state killing of beloved social media sensation Peanut the Squirrel, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/internet-sensation-peanut-the-squirrel-euthanized-by-new-york-state-government?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire reported</a>. And while Peanut’s death may be shocking, it shouldn’t be surprising — Democrats have a history of animal cruelty.</p>
<p>In 2022, Capitol Police euthanized a wild fox affectionately — though unoriginally — nicknamed “Capitol Fox.” The Capitol Fox quickly became a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/05/us/politics/fox-capitol-hill.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">viral sensation</a>, with reporters jostling for a sight of the vixen, and even asking Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) if he had seen the creature.</p>
<p>But after the Capitol Fox allegedly attacked Democrat Rep. Ami Bera (CA) and POLITICO reporter Ximena Bustillo, Capitol Police <a href="https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/health-officials-murder-fox-who-allegedly-bit-democrat-journalist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killed</a> the fox along with her three children. After the alleged “incident,” Bera <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/06/us/politics/capitol-hill-fox.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared a photo</a> of himself smiling and holding up a picture of the fox, and expressed his wishes that the fox “and its family are safely relocated and wishing it a happy and prosperous future.”</p>

Peanut The Squirrel Isn’t The First Defenseless Animal Democrats Killed

<p>Peanut, a squirrel who became a social media sensation after being rescued by a New York couple seven years ago, was seized by New York State authorities and euthanized earlier this week.</p>
<p>Peanut&#8217;s owners, Mark and Daniela Longo, told <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/11/01/peanut-the-squirrel-seized-killed-new-york-owner-rips-state/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a> Live on Friday that several New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officers arrived with a warrant to search their home, where they confiscated the famous squirrel and a raccoon that the couple had rescued. Both animals were euthanized, according to Mark.</p>
<p>&#8220;Peanut was the best thing that ever happened to us,&#8221; Longo told TMZ, with his wife by his side.</p>
<p>&#8220;It not only tears my family apart, but Peanut was the cornerstone of our non-profit animal rescue,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And ten to twelve DEC officers raided my house as if I was a drug dealer. I sat outside my house for five hours. I had to get a police escort to my bathroom. I wasn&#8217;t even allowed to feed my rescue horses breakfast or lunch. I sat there like a criminal after they interrogated my wife to check her immigration status.&#8221;</p>
<p>An <a href="https://www.instagram.com/peanut_the_squirrel12/?hl=en">Instagram account</a> dedicated to Peanut has over 565,000 followers. Asked why the DEC targeted him and his wife, Longo said they don&#8217;t &#8220;have a clue.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We have no idea who made the complaints. Again, Peanut was an indoor squirrel, not harming anybody. He&#8217;s been with us for seven years. Not a single complaint was ever filed,&#8221; he added.</p>

The agency reportedly said it received complaints that wildlife was potentially at risk and being kept illegally. The Longos told TMZ that they have had Peanut for seven years, after rescuing the squirrel when its mother was killed.</p>

<p>“In addition, a person involved with the investigation was bitten by the squirrel. To test for rabies, both animals were euthanized. The animals are being tested for rabies and anyone who has been in contact with these animals is strongly encouraged to consult their physician,” the DEC said in a statement, according to <a href="https://www.mytwintiers.com/chemung-county/peanut-the-squirrel-euthanized-by-dec-to-test-for-rabies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WETM</a>.</p>
<p>“Honestly, this still kind of feels surreal, that the state that I live in actually targeted me and took two of the most beloved animals on this planet away, didn’t even quarantine them. They took them from my house and just killed them,” Longo told the AP.</p>

<p>A man in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/california" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a> was arrested this week for allegedly going on a shooting spree late at night, killing more than 80 animals at a property located next to where he lived.</p>
<p>The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Vicente Joseph Arroyo after he shot animals for nearly three hours during the early morning hours on Tuesday in a vineyard in Prunedale, which is located roughly 100 miles south of San Francisco.</p>
<p>A shelter in place order was put into effect while officers <a href="https://mcso.countyofmonterey.gov/press-releases/press-release-update-mcso-swat-team-arrests-active-shooter-who-killed-over-80-animals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">searched</a> a five-mile radius as the shooting happened. While they could hear the gun shots, they struggled to find the suspect because it was &#8220;extremely dark&#8221; and the area was &#8220;covered in thick vegetation.&#8221;</p>
<p>A SWAT team made contact with the suspect after a police drone revealed an individual in the area who had crashed a vehicle. Arroyo was arrested and taken into custody without further incident, police said.</p>
<p>&#8220;Once the scene was secured, it was discovered that Arroyo had killed approximately 80 animals including miniature horses, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks and other types of birds,&#8221; police said. &#8220;Some animals had survived but were taken by SPCA to be euthanized due to the severity of their injuries.&#8221;</p>

<p>Multiple firearms were located at the scene and more were recovered from his trailer where he lived after police executed a search warrant.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is without a doubt that the warrant served by our deputies and detectives, which has resulted in the seizure of these additional weapons, has made our community safer,&#8221; said Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto. &#8220;I am confident that we have prevented another tragedy from happening in the future.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> witnessed multiple attacks against U.S. Secret Service (USSS) members by his dog </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-bidens-dog-has-attacked-secret-service-dozens-of-times-during-presidency"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Commander</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> while in office, according to a newly revealed document.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to files released to </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/biden-dog-attacks/">Judicial Watch</a> by way of litigation through the Freedom of Information Act, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">members of the Secret Service wished each other a “safe shift” while protecting Biden due to the dozens of agents who were allegedly attacked by the German shepherd over a two year period before the dog was given away, the </span><a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/13/us-news/biden-repeatedly-watched-his-dog-attack-secret-service-as-staff-wished-each-other-safe-shift-docs/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">New York Post</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> reported.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">USSS records obtained by </span><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/21/politics/commander-biden-secret-service-bites-white-house/index.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">CNN</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in February showed that the dog attacks numbered at least 24, but the new agency report suggests that the attacks could be more than three dozen, the Post noted.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The files showed that the president reportedly accused one member of the Secret Service of lying about the attack, but personally watched at least three other attacks occur, the Post noted.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Commander was brought in to replace Biden’s dog, Major, who had to be rehomed in 2021 after several biting incidents of his own at the White House, The Guardian </span><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/dec/21/commander-in-major-out-white-house-pet-shakeup-after-biting-incidents"><span style="font-weight: 400;">noted</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One attack not yet reported allegedly happened on September 12, 2023. The agent <a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/biden-dog-attacks/">wrote</a> that Biden </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">went for a walk with the dog (on a leash) in the Kennedy Garden and “while [Biden] and Commander were in the Kennedy Garden I was standing half way from the Book-Sellers [lobby] and the Family Theater.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“[Biden] opened the Book-Seller door and said [redacted],” the agent added. “As I started to walk toward him to see if he needed help, Commander ran through his legs and bit my left arm through the front of my jacket. I pulled my arm away and yelled no.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“[President Biden] also yelled [redacted] to Commander,” the agent continued. “[Biden] then [redacted]. I obliged and Commander let me pet him. When turning to close the door, Commander jumped again and bit my left arm for the second time. [Biden] again yelled at Commander and attached the leash to him. My suit coat has 3 holes, 1 being all the way through. No skin was broken.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The report showed that the Secret Service grew wary of the attacks, with one writing to a colleague after another attack on September 25, “FYI- there was a dog bite and the Officer may need to go to the hospital … Have a safe shift!” There was no information on whether Biden was there for that one.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Included in the report two days after the September 25 attack, someone from the agency’s Safety, Health &amp; Environmental Division wrote asking, “Can we please find a way to get this dog muzzled.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The February </span><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/21/politics/commander-biden-secret-service-bites-white-house/index.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">CNN</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> report outlined one alleged attack from July 2023 when a special agent was providing security at Biden’s beach home and thought that Commander was on a leash in the backyard, as previously reported.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“In the background SA [redacted] heard the voice of what believes to be FLOTUS Dr. Jill Biden [redacted] yelling [redacted quote]. Commander ran toward the direction of post [redacted] booth and bit SA [redacted] in the left forearm. Causing a severe deep open wound. As result of the attack SA [redacted] started to lose a significant amount of blood from [redacted] arm,” the report said.</span></p>
