<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brad-pitt">Brad Pitt</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/angelina-jolie">Angelina Jolie</a> have reportedly finalized their <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/divorce">divorce</a> eight years after their first filing.
The couple was formerly married for two years but were together for 12 and shared six children. Their divorce was contentious from the beginning, including issues about money and custody rights.
Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61, finally signed the divorce papers on Monday.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,&#8221; Jolie&#8217;s lawyer, James Simon, said in a statement provided to the <a href="https://people.com/brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-finalize-divorce-settlement-exclusive-8575385">People</a>. &#8220;This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.&#8221; 
Jolie initially filed for divorce in September 2016 following an alleged incident on a private plane during which she claimed Pitt was abusive to her and their children. The “Ad Astra” actor was not formally charged with any crime.
In 2019, a judge declared Jolie and Pitt were divorced and single but noted that their assets still needed to be split and child custody needed to be agreed upon. During the lengthy legal battle, four of the children have become adults, leaving just two minors in their parents’ care: 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
The couple used a private judge, and most of the divorce settlement details have been kept under wraps.
Jolie and Pitt have also been feuding over the ownership of Chateau Miraval, a French castle and wine brand the couple jointly owned. That legal dispute has nothing to do with the divorce and will continue after this settlement.
The actors first met on the set of their film “Mr. &amp; Mrs. Smith” while the “Fight Club” star was married to Jennifer Aniston. His divorce from the “Friends” actress went through in 2005. Jolie and Pitt started dating afterward and eventually tied the knot in 2014.
They’ve both kept mostly quiet regarding the downfall of their relationship. Last December, Jolie revealed that the stress of the situation had affected her mentally. “My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my divorce,” she said at the time, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/angelina-jolie-said-divorcing-brad-pitt-gave-her-medical-condition-my-body-reacts-very-strongly-to-stress">reported</a>.
Jolie also said she “doesn’t really have a social life” post-split. She’s been less active in Hollywood but has directed several films and starred as Maria Callas in “Maria,” which is currently generating Oscar buzz.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brad-pitt">Brad Pitt</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/several-of-brad-pitts-kids-shun-his-last-name-heres-whats-going-on">Angelina Jolie’s</a> biological daughter Shiloh filed to drop her surname, and that request has been approved, officially dropping Pitt from her name.
On her 18th birthday in May, Shiloh filed to legally change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, to simply Shiloh Jolie, and the change has been granted, People magazine <a href="https://people.com/angelina-jolie-and-brad-pitt-s-daughter-shiloh-granted-name-change-8697667">reported</a>.
The initial hearing to drop Shiloh’s surname was scheduled for July, but that was postponed due to a problem with the background check, the outlet noted.
&#8220;Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today&#8217;s hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19,&#8221; Shiloh’s lawyer Peter Levine said at the time in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
“Everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and because of clerical error, Shiloh&#8217;s hearing has been continued to a new date,” Levine added.

Speaking to <a href="https://variety.com/2024/film/news/jon-voight-trump-support-israel-palestine-angelina-jolie-1236080058/">Variety magazine</a>, the 85-year-old actor said that his 49-year-old actress daughter was “naive” when it comes to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas following the terrorist attack in Israel on October 7.
“She has been exposed to propaganda,” Voight said. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the UN [United Nations], and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”
“She’s ignorant of what the real stakes are and what the real story is because she’s in the loop of the United Nations,” he added, calling out the “naive” activists who claim there are millions of Palestinian refugees in the West Bank and Gaza, the outlet noted.

“They’re dupes who never get outside of their bubble,” Voight continued, noting that Jolie is one of those “naive dupes.” &#8220;She doesn’t really want to share this kind of stuff, because she’s of another mind about it.”
Voight made it clear he loves his daughter and doesn’t want to fight with her, but said that the “fact is, I think she has been influenced by the UN. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing.”

The comments came after the “Eternals” star said in a post in October on <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/angelina-jolie-statement-israel-hamas-war-1235630944/">Instagram</a> that “what happened in Israel is an act of terror.”
“But that cannot justify the innocent lives lost in bombing a civilian population in Gaza that has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border to seek refuge,” Jolie’s post read.
Last year, Jolie’s father made it clear he wasn’t happy with his daughter for defending Palestinians, the <a href="https://t.co/20xMYAaIuS">New York Post</a> noted.
“I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God’s honor, God’s truths,” Voight said in <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CzNYXqzt6_J/">an Instagram video</a> at the time.
“This is about destroying the history of God’s land, the Holy Land, the Land of the Jews. This is justice for God’s children of the Holy Land,” he added.
Jolie has reportedly never responded in public to her father’s comments, the Post noted.

And Shiloh isn’t the only one changing her name. Vivienne, who is listed as a producer assistant for the Broadway musical “The Outsiders,” uses the last name “Jolie” in the Playbill. A <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzsJpzar3s1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a> of Zahara introducing herself while joining the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at her university shows the teen introducing herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie.”
What gives? Why are so many of Pitt’s children choosing to separate themselves from the Academy Award winning actor?
Most entertainment insiders believe it can be traced back to an incident that happened when the family flew from Paris to Los Angeles in 2016. The alleged incident became public in 2022 when Jolie filed a complaint claiming that her ex grabbed her by the head and shook her, then choked one of the children who tried to step in and stop him.
The abuse allegations were made shortly after the flight, per <a href="https://www.npr.org/2022/10/05/1126925040/brad-pitt-choked-and-his-children-angelina-jolie-says-in-a-court-filing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NPR</a>, but most details were kept hidden until 2022. The New York Times was first to report the verbiage found in the court document.
&#8220;Pitt&#8217;s aggressive behavior started even before the family got to the airport, with Pitt having a confrontation with one of the children. After the flight took off, Jolie approached Pitt and asked him what was wrong,&#8221; the filing says. &#8220;Pitt accused her of being too deferential to the children and verbally attacked her.&#8221;
At another point, the document stated, “He pulled [Jolie] into the bathroom and began yelling at her. Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall.&#8221;
One of the couple’s children who was only identified as being between the ages of 8 and 15-years-old at the time verbally defended Jolie. This allegedly caused the actor to act out in anger.
&#8220;Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him. To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane&#8217;s seats injuring Jolie&#8217;s back and elbow,&#8221; the filing continued. &#8220;The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face.&#8221;
The document also accused Pitt of pouring beer on Jolie and both beer and red wine on the children. Jolie said Pitt was &#8220;becoming a monster&#8221; as he &#8220;ranted&#8221; and &#8220;mimicked the behavior of a monster and screamed at them,” per People. She said she and the children were &#8220;shell-shocked&#8221; and &#8220;frozen, scared and didn&#8217;t know what to do.&#8221;
The actress claimed that Pitt’s behavior made her feel &#8220;like a hostage.&#8221; NPR noted that criminal charges “would not be pursued due to several factors.”
The “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood” actor denied the abuse claims via his rep. An initial statement in 2022 classified the allegations as “completely untrue.”
The rep later amended the statement, admitting Pitt displayed inappropriate behavior but said Jolie was blowing it out of proportion. “(Jolie’s) story continues to evolve each time she tells it. Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn’t do,” the new statement <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/04/entertainment/angelina-jolie-abuse-brad-pitt-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
“He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation,” Pitt’s attorney Anne Kiley said at the time. “Thankfully, the various public authorities she has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions. Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done.”

It’s not just Pitt’s daughters seemingly shunning their dad. The couple’s oldest son Pax also reportedly shared his opinion, allegedly called his adoptive father a “world class a**hole” and “f***ing awful human being” in a Father’s Day post on his private Instagram account in 2020, per <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12744641/Angelina-Jolie-Brad-Pitt-adopted-son-Pax-dad-despicable.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Mail</a>.
“You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person,” the social media account holder wrote over a picture of Pitt accepting the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2020 for his role in “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.”
“You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence,” the post said. “You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday.”
The drama continues as Pitt and Jolie battle for custody over their two remaining minor children and amid a messy controversy over the ownership of their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval. The former couple was declared legally single back in 2019, but their divorce is still ongoing until those two issues are settled.

The filing alleged that Pitt “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.” 
It also said the Academy-Award-winning actor “poured beer on Jolie” and “poured beer and red wine on the children.”

Pax also allegedly called his adoptive father a “world class a**hole” and “f***ing awful human being” in a Father’s Day post on his private Instagram account in 2020, per <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12744641/Angelina-Jolie-Brad-Pitt-adopted-son-Pax-dad-despicable.html">The Daily Mail</a>. 
“You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person,” the social media account holder wrote over a picture of Pitt accepting the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2020 for his role in “Once Upon a Time&#8230; In Hollywood.”
“You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence,” the post said. “You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday.”

Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/angelina-jolie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Angelina Jolie</a> discussed how she believes feelings of stress during her divorce from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brad-pitt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brad Pitt</a> led to her developing the medical condition known as Bell’s palsy.
“My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/divorce" target="_blank" rel="noopener">divorce</a>,” the 48-year-old mom of six told <a href="https://www.wsj.com/arts-culture/film/angelina-jolie-atelier-maria-callas-cf62ff38" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a> in an interview published Tuesday. Jolie had previously discussed recovering from the condition during a Vanity Fair <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/07/angelina-jolie-cover-story" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> in 2017 but didn&#8217;t reveal what she believed to be the catalyst. 
According to the <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bells-palsy/symptoms-causes/syc-20370028" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mayo Clinic</a>, Bell&#8217;s palsy is “a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. In most cases, the weakness is temporary and significantly improves over weeks. The weakness makes half of the face appear to droop.” The exact cause of Bell’s palsy is unknown. 
Jolie also told the outlet she doesn’t “really have a social life” in Los Angeles after everything she’s been through, including the media scrutiny. “I wouldn’t be an actress today,” the actress said. “When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.”
Jolie and Pitt announced their divorce in 2016. They had been together for 12 years and married for two at that point and shared both biological and adopted children together. Their divorce kicked off a bitter battle over both shared property and custody of their six kids: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, 15.
The “Eternals” star is notoriously private about her personal life, saying only that she and her kids, “had to heal” following the divorce. “There are things we needed to heal from,” Jolie repeated while speaking with WSJ.

Lawyers for a company founded by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brad-pitt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brad Pitt</a>’s ex-wife <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/angelina-jolie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Angelina Jolie</a> filed court papers Monday mocking Pitt for the nature of his involvement in a French wine business and demanding $350 million.
Attorneys for a holding company Jolie set up to carry her shares in Chateau Miraval filed the cross-complaint as the former couple continue their legal battle over the winery. The pair originally purchased the French vineyard in 2011 while they were still married, and it&#8217;s been a topic of bitter contention since their divorce, per <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/07/10/chateau-miraval-attorneys-mocks-brad-pitts-ludicrous-winemaker-affectations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Page Six</a>.
“Pitt is an actor, not a winemaker,” the attorneys for Jolie&#8217;s company Nouvel wrote in the new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filing</a>. “He deals in illusions, not dirt and grapes.”
“During the years that he allegedly ‘built’ the business, he filmed and appeared in dozens of movies, not to mention making countless promotional appearances, jetting-setting [sic] around the world for movie premieres, and attending Hollywood parties,” it goes on.
The attorneys claim that Pitt spent &#8220;millions on vanity projects, including more than $1 million on swimming pool renovations, building and rebuilding a staircase four times, and spending millions to restore a recording studio.” 
“While he no doubt visited the vineyards to admire the work of the French laborers who actually made the business successful, Pitt is no vigneron,” the document says.
Nouvel’s attorneys claim Pitt’s business owes the company $350 million, the outlet noted. The group said, &#8220;Pitt masterminded a so-far-successful plan to seize de facto control of Château Miraval, despite lacking a controlling ownership interest. He has frozen Nouvel out of Château Miraval and treats it as his personal fiefdom.&#8221;
&#8220;Incensed that Jolie sold Nouvel to Stoli rather than him, Pitt has acted like a petulant child, refusing to treat Nouvel as an equal partner in the business,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2023/07/11/brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-looting-legal-dispute-winery/70400995007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filing says</a>, while accusing Pitt of “looting” and “stripping” the business.
Meanwhile, the “Fight Club” star views his association with Miraval differently.
“I’m a farmer now,” Pitt told Wine Spectator in 2014. “I love learning about the land and which field is most suitable for which grape, the drama of September and October: Are we picking today? Where are the sugar levels? How is the acidity? Is it going to rain? It’s been a schooling for me. I enjoy cleaning the forest and walking the land.”

In a cross complaint filed Tuesday, actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/angelina-jolie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Angelina Jolie</a> accused her ex-husband, actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/brad-pitt-seeks-damages-against-ex-wife-angelina-jolie-over-business-reputation-sought-to-inflict-harm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brad Pitt</a>, of physically assaulting her and two of their children during an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-report-appears-to-show-angelina-jolies-injuries-following-fight-with-brad-pitt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inflight incident</a> in 2016.
Pitt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/brad-pitt-seeks-damages-against-ex-wife-angelina-jolie-over-business-reputation-sought-to-inflict-harm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed</a> a lawsuit against his ex-wife in February, accusing Jolie of intentionally causing damage to his business reputation by illegally off-loading her stake in their wine company without his consent or knowledge.
&#8220;Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face&#8221; during the incident, the countersuit alleges, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/04/movies/angelina-jolie-brad-pitt-lawsuit.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times.
At another point, the &#8220;Fight Club&#8221; actor allegedly &#8220;grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall.”
Pitt also &#8220;poured beer on Jolie&#8221; and &#8220;poured beer and red wine on the children,&#8221; the suit said.
The altercation was allegedly sparked when Pitt accused Jolie of being &#8220;too deferential&#8221; to their children, of which the couple have six. The 58 year old was allegedly physical with the children when they jumped in to try to protect their mother.
&#8220;When one of the children verbally defended Jolie, Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him,&#8221; the suit <a href="https://people.com/movies/angelina-jolie-claims-brad-pitt-choked-their-child-on-2016-flight/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reads</a>. &#8220;To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane&#8217;s seats injuring Jolie&#8217;s back and elbow. The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened.&#8221;
Pitt allegedly called Jolie a &#8220;b****&#8221; and told the family, &#8220;f*** you all,&#8221; when the plane landed and Jolie informed her then-husband she was going to a hotel.
The actor has yet to publicly respond to the explosive filing, but a source close to Pitt <a href="https://people.com/movies/angelina-jolie-claims-brad-pitt-choked-their-child-on-2016-flight/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> People magazine the allegations are not true.
Jolie&#8217;s countersuit is a response to Pitt&#8217;s legal action earlier this year over the couple&#8217;s wine brand.
Pitt said in court documents that Jolie was intentionally causing damage to his business reputation by illegally off-loading her stake in their wine company Chateau Miraval without his consent or knowledge, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/brad-pitt-seeks-damages-against-ex-wife-angelina-jolie-over-business-reputation-sought-to-inflict-harm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a> reported in June.

Pitt claimed Jolie intentionally sold her stake behind his back to a “stranger with poisonous associations and intentions” to “inflict harm,” while contributing “nothing to Miraval’s success.”

Pictures purporting to show bruises on actress Angelina Jolie&#8217;s hand and elbow — which she said ere injured during the private plane altercation that immediately preceded her divorce from actor Brad Pitt — became public along with court filings pertaining to the FBI&#8217;s investigation into the dispute.
Page Six <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/08/18/photos-of-angelina-jolies-alleged-bruises-from-brad-pitt-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> two photos on Thursday that came from the <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/08/18/new-witness-statements-show-brad-pitt-may-be-the-villain-of-the-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now-public documents</a> about the fight — which took place while the superstar couple traveled from France to Los Angeles — despite a request from &#8220;Jane Doe&#8221; (likely Jolie) asking that the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request be sealed to protect her children. A judge ruled against her request, however, and the documents were made public on Wednesday.

Because the skies are considered to be federal jurisdiction, the FBI handled the investigation into Jolie&#8217;s allegations that <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/brad-pitt-seeks-damages-against-ex-wife-angelina-jolie-over-business-reputation-sought-to-inflict-harm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pitt</a>, who she said had been drinking, had been verbally abusive and had manhandled her during the flight and once they landed, before anyone exited the plane.
Stating that the initial confrontation took place in a restroom on board the plane, Jolie claimed that <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/angelina-jolie-brad-pitt-fbi-lawsuit-1235342770/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pitt</a> had &#8220;grabbed her by her head,&#8221; &#8220;grabbed her by the shoulders,&#8221; and pushed her into the bathroom wall, yelling, &#8216;You’re f–king up this family.'&#8221;
At least two of the children were allegedly outside the door at the time, asking whether or not Jolie was all right.
&#8220;&#8216;No, mommy’s not OK. She’s ruining this family. She’s crazy,'&#8221; Jolie claimed that Pitt responded to the children.
&#8220;&#8216;It’s not her, it’s you, you p—k,'&#8221; one of the children replied, according to Jolie — and when Pitt appeared ready to run at one of the kids &#8220;like he was going to attack,&#8221; Jolie said that she tried to get him into a choke hold. She said that he attempted to get free of her grip by backing into the chairs behind her.
That was when Jolie alleged her back and elbow were injured, and she shared a photo of her bruised elbow with the FBI.
The injury on Jolie&#8217;s hand was described as &#8220;a rug burn type wound&#8221; — and a photo of that was also included in the report.
The <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/fbi-reportedly-came-close-to-arresting-brad-pitt-and-jane-doe-sued-the-bureau-to-find-out-why-they-didnt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">newly-public documents</a> also revealed that the FBI agent investigating the incident had prepared a probable cause statement and presented it to authorities, but after family services cleared Pitt of the abuse allegations, the FBI made an announcement declaring that no charges were going to be filed.
&#8220;Jane Doe&#8221; — who has now been outed by several sources as Jolie — filed a lawsuit against the Bureau, demanding information regarding why no charges had been filed.

FBI agents allegedly came close to arresting actor <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/brad-pitt-seeks-damages-against-ex-wife-angelina-jolie-over-business-reputation-sought-to-inflict-harm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brad Pitt</a> following the altercation that reportedly led to his split with ex-wife actress Angelina Jolie — and according to a new report, Jolie might be behind a lawsuit against the Bureau demanding the reasons they didn&#8217;t go through with it.
The incident that sparked the near-arrest — and Jolie&#8217;s move to <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/report-angelina-jolie-files-divorce-brad-pitt-amanda-prestigiacomo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">file for divorce</a> — was a disagreement aboard the couple&#8217;s private plane that reportedly escalated as Pitt was drinking and became &#8220;verbally abusive,&#8221; at which point their oldest son Maddox reportedly stepped between them to defend Jolie.
Because the plane was in flight at the time — and the air is considered to be federal jurisdiction — the FBI was charged with investigating the claims. Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services also <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/nov/23/brad-pitt-cleared-fbi-over-plane-incident-no-charges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigated</a>, and shortly after DCFS concluded that the abuse allegations were unsubstantiated, the FBI also announced that Pitt would not be charged pursuant to the incident.
&#8220;In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation,&#8221; Laura Eimiller, spokeswoman for the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, explained at the time. &#8220;No charges have been filed in this matter.&#8221;
But in April of 2022, a woman identified only as &#8220;Jane Doe&#8221; <a href="https://www.etonline.com/is-angelina-jolie-suing-the-fbi-over-2016-plane-incident-with-brad-pitt-182760" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued the FBI</a> under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), demanding information about what was uncovered during the investigation into the incident that occurred on the plane in 2016 — and rumors immediately began to swirl that &#8220;Doe&#8221; was actually Jolie.
The court documents described &#8220;Doe&#8221; as a person who was publicly well known and requested information &#8220;about the agency’s investigation of an incident of domestic violence that occurred several years ago involving plaintiff and her minor children as victims and witnesses &#8230; Several years ago, while plaintiff, her then-husband, and their children, who were all minors at the time, were traveling via private aircraft, the husband allegedly physically and verbally assaulted plaintiff and the children.&#8221;
In the lawsuit, &#8220;Doe&#8221; also alleged that the FBI closed the investigation without first informing her — and instead making a public statement.
Puck News&#8217; Eriq Gardner <a href="https://puck.news/angelina-jolie-v-brad-pitt-the-f-b-i-lawsuit-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Monday that he had confirmed Jolie to be the plaintiff in that suit — and said that updated court filings revealed just how close the FBI had come to arresting Pitt.
&#8220;Having followed their bizarre post-divorce <a href="https://puck.news/the-brangelina-rose-suit-from-hell/">legal battle</a> for some time, I can now confirm that Jolie is indeed the plaintiff in the F.B.I. suit. I can also reveal that the pseudonymous lawsuit is available publically for the first time,&#8221; Gardner explained. &#8220;On Aug. 9, Jolie amended the complaint, which includes an interesting new detail. Before the F.B.I. announced that Pitt would not be charged with assault on an airplane, the agent investigating the Sept. 2016 incident prepared a statement of probable cause and presented it to the chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Pitt claims Jolie intentionally sold her stake behind his back to a &#8220;stranger with poisonous associations and intentions&#8221; to &#8220;inflict harm,&#8221; while contributing &#8220;nothing to Miraval&#8217;s success.&#8221;
The filing explains that Jolie &#8220;planned to sell her interest in October to Tenute del Mondo, which is &#8216;bent on taking control of Miraval&#8217; and is &#8216;indirectly owned and controlled by Yuri Shefler, the Russian billionaire who controls the Stoli Group,'&#8221; People magazine <a href="https://people.com/movies/brad-pitt-sues-angelina-jolie-over-sale-wine-company-stake/">reported</a>.
&#8220;Jolie pursued and then consummated the purported sale in secret, purposely keeping Pitt in the dark, and knowingly violating Pitt&#8217;s contractual rights,&#8221; Pitt&#8217;s legal team charged.
Pitt claims he and his ex-wife &#8220;had an agreement that neither would sell their business interests in Miraval without the other party’s consent,&#8221; Vanity Fair <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2022/06/brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-miraval-wine-company-lawsuit-selling-stake-stoli-group?redirectURL=https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2022/06/brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-miraval-wine-company-lawsuit-selling-stake-stoli-group">noted</a>.
The report added that Jolie &#8220;was previously cleared to sell her share of Miraval in September, but Pitt claims that her business, Nouvel, owed his company, Mondo Bongo, the right of first refusal and this sale violates that.&#8221;
Back in February, Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie over the alleged illegal off-loading of her shares to the Russian businessman.
“Press is reporting that Mr. Pitt has filed another lawsuit against Ms. Jolie,&#8221; Jolie legal representative Robert Olson <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/brad-pitt-sues-angelina-jolie-selling-chateau-miraval-winery-yuri-shefler-1680482">told</a> Newsweek at the time. &#8220;She has not yet been served, and we are instead learning about the complaint from the media who appear to have been given access to the report to create a press story prior to Ms. Jolie even being served.”
Miraval was a &#8220;passion&#8221; project for Pitt, earning a stellar reputation and developing the &#8220;world’s most highly regarded producers of rosé wine&#8221; before Jolie&#8217;s allegedly illegal moves, the court documents further accuse.
Pitt is asking for a trial by jury and damages “in an amount to be proven at trial” for Jolie&#8217;s alleged actions, and seeking that the actress&#8217; stake in Miraval be declared “null and void.”
The actor is suing over &#8220;breach of implied-in-fact contract; breach of quasi-contract pleaded in the alternative; breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing; abuse of rights under Article 6-1 of the Luxembourg Civil Code; tortious interference with contractual relations; tortious interference with prospective business relations; and constructive trust,&#8221; People reported.
