Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee for New York City mayor, slammed the pockmarked political careers of his slate of Democratic opponents on Wednesday.
Sliwa, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/he-aint-going-nowhere-why-curtis-sliwa-thinks-hell-be-the-next-mayor-of-new-york-city">founder</a> of the Guardian Angels subway patrol, is facing socialist Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee, as well as current mayor Eric Adams and former governor Andrew Cuomo, both Democrats running as independents.

Cuomo resigned as governor in 2021 after investigators found he had sexually harassed at least 11 women. The former governor also faced fierce criticism for forcing nursing homes to accept patients from hospitals without testing them for COVID, a policy that was blamed for many nursing home deaths, which Cuomo&#8217;s administration then undercounted by as much as 50%, the New York attorney general <a href="https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2021/attorney-general-james-releases-report-nursing-homes-response-covid-19">found</a>.
Sliwa also criticized the Big Apple&#8217;s current mayor.
&#8220;Eric Adams is damaged goods. Every day, a new case of corruption in the police department. They believe he&#8217;s corrupt,&#8221; Sliwa said.
Over the past two weeks, five lawsuits have <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/16/us/eric-adams-nypd-corruption-lawsuit">cropped</a> up claiming rampant corruption within the NYPD that was allegedly supported by the Adams administration. This week, a former NYPD commissioner filed a federal lawsuit against Adams, accusing him of running the police department like a &#8220;criminal enterprise.&#8221; Several prominent officials say they were pushed out after speaking up.
&#8220;Nobody would have known who Zohran Mamdani was until Eric Adams failed as the sitting mayor,&#8221; Sliwa said.
Mamdani has called himself a Democratic socialist and has proposed controversial and expensive policies like government-run grocery stores, free buses, free childcare, a rent freeze for more than two million New Yorkers who live in rent-subsidized housing, and deploying mental health professionals rather than cops in crises.
Meanwhile, Sliwa wants to beef up the NYPD with 7,000 more officers, make Madison Square Garden, Columbia University, and New York University pay their fair share of property taxes, which he says will bring in $843 million for taxpayers, and repeal Adams&#8217; &#8220;City of Yes&#8221; zoning legislation, which he said is destroying residential neighborhoods in the outer boroughs.
&#8220;Everybody likes Curtis Sliwa. My favorable ratings are the highest in this election cycle,&#8221; Sliwa said.
Sliwa faces an uphill battle in the polls, but he is currently beating Adams and is statistically tied with Cuomo and Mamdani, according to one <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/harrisx-nyc-poll-tight-race-emerges-in-nyc-mayoral-general-election-but-cuomo-stronger-than-adams-against-mamdani-302506087.html">poll</a> this week. Mamdani leads at 26%, with Cuomo at 23% and Sliwa at 22%, all within the margin of error. Adams trails at 13%, while 15% of voters remain undecided, according to the HarrisX poll.

Disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) announced his plan on Monday to run for the New York City Mayor&#8217;s office, but then said that he&#8217;d bow out of the race if he couldn&#8217;t beat self-described Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani — to whom he already lost the June primary.
Cuomo launched his independent campaign after much speculation that he would do so after losing the primary, but said that he was taking the advice of former Governor David Paterson (D-NY) and would defer to another candidate if said candidate had a better chance of beating Mamdani in November&#8217;s general election.

&#8220;Governor Paterson put forth a very good idea with [independent mayoral candidate] Mr. Walden,&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;We get to September, who&#8217;s the strongest candidate, and the other candidates defer and don&#8217;t compete. Put forth the strongest candidate because it&#8217;s about stopping Mr. Mamdani.&#8221;
&#8220;Whoever the strongest candidate is, that person should go forward,&#8221; Cuomo continued, adding, &#8220;If it&#8217;s me, fine. If it&#8217;s not me, I will defer.&#8221;
Paterson has been outspoken in his calls for a coalition of sorts among the independent candidates, saying during a press conference that one or more independent candidates should drop out in order to prevent Democrats from splitting their votes against the socialist.
Following that press conference, Paterson said that he was <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/13/us-news/ex-gov-david-paterson-said-mamdani-supporters-targeted-his-family/">flooded</a> with &#8220;vitriolic&#8221; phone calls from Mamdani&#8217;s supporters.
&#8220;I got a whole lot of nasty, negative phone calls — really vitriolic — from Mamdani supporters,” Paterson said during an interview. &#8220;[They] called my home. They called my wife. It was really kind of difficult for those 48 hours after the press conference.&#8221;
Paterson, according to Politico reporter Jeff Coltin, is connected to the New York City mayor&#8217;s race on all fronts and not just on the Democratic side. He also has a personal connection to Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
&#8220;David Paterson really is the man in the middle — a friend of Adams, endorsed Cuomo, worked for Walden, stepfather to Sliwa&#8217;s son,&#8221; he said.

Cuomo offered his thanks to the New Yorkers who had voted for him before turning the attack on Mamdani: &#8220;Thank you for believing in me and in my agenda and my experience, and I am truly sorry that I let you down. But as my grandfather used to say, when you get knocked down, learn the lesson and pick yourself back up and get in the game — and that is what I&#8217;m going to do.&#8221;
&#8220;The fight to save our city isn&#8217;t over,&#8221; he continued, noting that barely over one-tenth of the city&#8217;s voters had cast a ballot in the June primary. &#8220;The general election is in November, and I am in it to win it. My opponent, Mr. Mamdani, offers slick slogans but no real solutions. We need a city with lower rent, safer streets, where buying your first home is once again possible, where child care won&#8217;t bankrupt you.&#8221;
But according to a new poll — shared by The Manhattan Institute&#8217;s Jesse Arm — Cuomo&#8217;s support is sitting at 24% to Mamdani&#8217;s 40%. Current Mayor Eric Adams, who initially won as a Democrat, is polling at 15% and Republican Curtis Sliwa is pulling 14% support.
As Arm noted, if the ultimate goal was to stop a socialist from gaining power in New York City, then the obvious solution was for two or more of the remaining candidates to join forces.

Definition Of Insanity? Andrew Cuomo Running Again After Primary Loss To Socialist Mamdani.

A new poll shows Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani holding a commanding 10-point lead in New York City&#8217;s mayoral race this week, with incumbent Mayor Eric Adams trailing in fourth place.
The Slingshot Strategies <a href="https://www.slingshotstrat.com/media/slingshot-mayoral-poll-general-election-7-9">poll</a>, conducted between July 2-6, showed socialist Mamdani capturing 35% of registered voters, with former Governor Andrew Cuomo at 25%, Republican Curtis Sliwa at 14%, and incumbent Mayor Eric Adams trailing with just 11%.
Adams faces an uphill battle with a dismal 28% approval rating and 62% disapproval. By contrast, Mamdani enjoys a net favorable rating of +4 (40% favorable vs. 36% unfavorable), while even the scandal-plagued Andrew Cuomo outperforms Adams, with 44% viewing him favorably and 46% unfavorably.
Other polls have found similar results, including a pro-Adams <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/04/us-news/new-pro-adams-poll-still-has-nyc-mayor-trailing-cuomo-by-double-digits/">poll</a> that still showed Mamdani leading with 41%, followed by Cuomo at 26%, Adams at 16%, and Sliwa at 10%.
Adams&#8217; support has collapsed even among his traditional base, with only 16% of black respondents saying they would back the mayor in the general election, compared to 35% for Mamdani and 32% for Cuomo, according to the poll.
The current contest represents a significant fracturing of Democratic power, with incumbent Mayor Adams – who campaigned as a moderate, pro-police Democrat – now being challenged from both the far-Left in Mamdani and the establishment wing in Cuomo.
While Mamdani&#8217;s 35% support is far from a majority, Slingshot founding partner Evan Roth Smith <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/09/us-news/eric-adams-nyc-mayoral-election-chances-are-under-water-poll/">emphasized</a> to the New York Post that the electoral math looks increasingly difficult for Adams.
&#8220;The problem is the ballot is set. And the strongest Mamdani alternative in this poll is Andrew Cuomo, who just lost to him decisively in the Democratic primary,&#8221; Smith noted. “And the Mamdani alternative that seems to have the most momentum as a fresh alternative is Eric Adams, who’s polling barely in the double digits and seems to have lost credibility everywhere in the election.”
Adams has faced widespread dissatisfaction with his administration, which has faced multiple federal investigations and criticism over the handling of the migrant crisis and public safety issues.
Despite being a Democrat, Adams performs best among Republican voters, receiving 26% support compared to Mamdani&#8217;s 7%, although Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa leads that demographic with 43%.
“There’s simply not enough Republican support for someone who is a sitting Democratic mayor of New York,” Smith added. “So it’s really, really difficult when someone is polling at 11% and the ballot isn’t changing to see what the path to victory is.”
Mamdani, a 33-year-old Assemblyman from Queens, has positioned himself as an unapologetic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/zohran-mamdani-says-he-has-many-critiques-of-capitalism?author=Mairead+Elordi&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Zohran+Mamdani+Says+He+Has+%E2%80%98Many+Critiques+Of+Capitalism%E2%80%99">socialist</a>. He has advocated for rent control, increasing taxes on the wealthy, and reallocating police funding to social services – policies that have raised concerns among moderate Democrats and the business community.
“You have a large number of largely white, largely outer borough homeowners who are not necessarily Democrats, who are skeptical of Mamdani,” Smith explained. “The problem is getting those voters together behind either Andrew Cuomo or Eric Adams seems to still be a pretty tall order, and becomes even more difficult since they’re both in the race.”

Adams’ campaign spokesperson Todd Shapiro dismissed the poll in a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/09/us-news/eric-adams-nyc-mayoral-election-chances-are-under-water-poll/">statement</a> to the New York Post, saying, “just weeks ago, Andrew Cuomo was ahead in multiple polls and then went on to lose the primary by double digits.”
“The latest Slingshot poll is just another example of how out-of-touch and unreliable political polling has become,” he said.

In a major upset on Tuesday, Mamdani beat out former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for mayor of the Big Apple.
Cuomo is considering running as an independent in the wake of the shock results.
Current Mayor Eric Adams also launched his reelection campaign as an independent on Thursday at a rowdy rally on the steps of City Hall, where he took a shot at both Mamdani and &#8220;socialism.&#8221;

Topline: New details have emerged on the severity of U.S. airstrikes on Iran, as the White House hints at new peace deals with Middle Eastern adversaries.
Ayatollah Khamenei hadn’t been seen or heard from since before Saturday, as he refrained from any electronic communication for fear of being targeted himself. But on Thursday, he released a video where he struck a defiant tone, declaring victory over the U.S. and Israel and threatening to “take action again” if necessary. Khamenei assured his people that the American strikes “were unable to do anything important” and that President Trump had “exaggerated” their effectiveness &#8212; those claims have been mirrored by some elements of the legacy media.
The war in Iran might have ended, but the fighting is still going on in Washington, with the White House going to battle with the media over the state of Iran’s nuclear program. Knocking out Iran’s nuclear program could end up being one of the president’s signature accomplishments, and he wants credit. Almost immediately after the strikes, which the president said totally obliterated the Iranian nuclear program, the media began reporting otherwise, saying the program had only been set back a few months. A leaked damage assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency reportedly claimed Iran could have their nuclear program up and running by the new year and that the three nuclear sites struck by the United States had potentially sustained only “moderate” damage. Democrats and the legacy media jumped on that report, saying it was proof the strike was actually a failure and that Trump was lying to the public.

The White House is disputing this, saying the assessment in question was one of multiple preliminary estimates and that newer intelligence from the CIA and others has revealed the damage to be significantly more severe. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the press failed to report that the leaked document reported “low confidence” in its own assessment and had not been coordinated with the intelligence community more broadly.
&#8220;For people with common sense, everyone knows what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000-pound bombs perfectly on their targets,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said. “Complete and total destruction and obliteration.”
On Thursday, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog, seemed to agree with the White House, saying Iran’s nuclear program “suffered enormous damage.” According to the agency’s director, “there’s a lot of debate about the degree of annihilation, total destruction, and so on. What I can tell you, and I think everyone agrees on this, is that very considerable damage has been done.”
The president has also suggested that other Middle Eastern countries might join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with Israel in the coming days.

Topline: HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that the United States is withdrawing funding for an international vaccine organization that he says has lost the public’s trust.
Gavi is a global vaccine alliance that works to provide vaccinations to low-income people worldwide. It was founded by Bill Gates, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the World Bank back in 2000. Gavi has received more than $8 billion from the U.S. government since 2001 and claims to have vaccinated more than one billion children, saving millions of lives. 
RFK Jr.&#8217;s assessment of the group was not entirely negative: he commended Gavi for some of its work – particularly for keeping medicine affordable – when he announced that the United States would halt its financial contributions until Gavi could prove itself to be science-focused and transparent. Kennedy also stated that Gavi helped censor dissenting voices during the COVID pandemic and “ignored the science.” 

“The World Health Organization and Gavi partnered together during the COVID-19 pandemic to recommend best practices for social media companies to silence dissenting views, to stifle free speech and legitimate questions during that period,” Kennedy said. “When vaccine safety issues have come before Gavi, Gavi has treated them not as a patient health problem, but as a public relations problem.”
Kennedy said Gavi must re-earn the public’s trust before the U.S. financial contribution continues. He advised Gavi to “consider the best science available, even when the science contradicts established paradigms.”
The Gates Foundation, in reaction to RFK Jr.’s remarks, has already pledged to give $1.6 billion over the next five years to support Gavi.

Topline: Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani shocked New York – and many in the Democratic Party – by rising out of seemingly nowhere to win the city’s Democratic primary for mayor.
A left-wing New York assemblyman, Zohran Mamdani, 33, won an upset victory in the NYC Democratic primary against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, 67. Despite recent polling suggesting it would be a close race, Mamdani overperformed in the early returns with a decisive enough lead that Cuomo conceded within hours.
“Mamdani pulled it off by increasing the turnout among mostly white progressives,” Ryan Girdusky, host of the “It’s a Numbers Game” podcast, told The Daily Wire. “Cuomo&#8217;s turnout was not high enough among black voters. And at the same exact time, Mamdani&#8217;s voter turnout was absolutely like general election turnout. And that, along with being able to siphon off support from the Asian community &#8212; he had an immense amount of Asian outreach despite being against SATs. And the growing Muslim population certainly helped him. And then his last part of his coalition was he was able to splinter a sizable chunk of the Hispanic vote who do not live in the Bronx. He lost the Bronx terribly. But among other Hispanic communities, he did very, very well.”
Mamdani is a self-described socialist who has <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/25/nyregion/mamdani-policies-stances.html">campaigned</a> on rent control, government-owned grocery stores, raising taxes on the top 1% of New Yorkers, and offering sanctuary to illegal aliens. He has also been highly critical of the state of Israel, which he has described as “an apartheid state” that committed “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

Rapper Curtis James Jackson III — better known to most simply as 50 Cent — said he was ready to put up six figures if it would get Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani to leave New York City.
Mamdani, who pulled out a surprise win against disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) in the Democratic primary, made a recent appearance on the popular radio show &#8220;The Breakfast Club&#8221; with host Charlamagne the God. While there, he promoted his economic vision for New York City — which included raising the corporate tax rate and hitting the top one percent with additional income taxes.
&#8220;We’re talking about corporations that are making millions of dollars, not in revenue, but in profit,&#8221; Mamdani explained. &#8220;And the second is taxing the top 1% of New Yorkers. We’re talking about people who make a million dollars a year or more, taxing them just by a flat 2% tax increase.&#8221;
He even took a moment to call out the rapper directly — and 50 Cent made it clear in his response that he was not impressed.
&#8220;I know if 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be happy about this. He tends to not like this tax policy, but I want to be very clear this is about $20,000 a year,&#8221; Mamdani said.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams took a shot at his self-described democratic socialist opponent on Thursday as Adams launched a fierce reelection bid as an independent.
&#8220;I&#8217;m so proud to be here, to say to the people of the City of New York, I am seeking reelection to be your mayor of the City of New York!&#8221; Adams told a cheering crowd from the steps of City Hall on Thursday.
Adams was elected as a Democrat in 2021, but he is running as an independent in the wake of low approval ratings and federal corruption and bribery charges that were dropped in February.
Zohran Mamdani, 33, is the member of the Democratic Socialists of America who stunned Democrats this week when he declared victory in the party&#8217;s mayoral primary for New York City on Tuesday. He is a New York state assemblyman representing Queens.
Former Governor Andrew Cuomo had been expected to walk away handily with the Democratic nomination, but now he, too, is considering running as an independent.
&#8220;This is a city not of socialism,&#8221; Adams said Thursday.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve been to socialist countries. This is a city where you can come as a dishwasher, and you can own a chain of restaurants. This is a city where you can be a cab driver and then become a doctor. This is a city where you can go from homelessness to building houses. This is a city where you can be a young person who is dyslexic, a young person who was rejected, and eventually to be elected the mayor of the City of New York,&#8221; the mayor told the crowd.
&#8220;There&#8217;s no dignity in someone giving you everything for free. There&#8217;s dignity in giving you a job, so you can provide for your family and the opportunities that you deserve. This is not a city of handouts. This is a city of hands up. We&#8217;re going to lift up the City of New York,&#8221; Adams said.
Mamdani has proposed expensive policies including rent freezes, government-run grocery stores, free buses, free city universities, free child care, increasing New York City’s minimum wage to $30 an hour, and investing $65 million in transgender drugs and surgeries.
Adams has already directly attacked Mamdani.
&#8220;He’s a snake-oil salesman,&#8221; Adams said of Mamdani on Fox News on Wednesday. &#8220;He would say and do anything to get elected.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not interested in Twitter politics. I&#8217;m interested in getting the trash picked up. I&#8217;m not interested in slogans. I&#8217;m interested in the solutions. I don&#8217;t work with special interests. I work for the people,&#8221; Adams said. &#8220;I wasn&#8217;t born into power and privilege. I was born into struggle. Always knew what struggle was, and if you&#8217;re going to be a mayor of people who are going through a lot, you must be a human being who has gone through a lot.&#8221;
Protesters across the park attempted to disrupt Adams&#8217; announcement rally, shouting and calling him a &#8220;criminal.&#8221;
&#8220;You can call me all the names you want, but I&#8217;m going to answer to only one: Mayor Adams,&#8221; Adams said.
Adams currently controls New York City&#8217;s $115 billion budget and 330,000 city government workers.
Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, the volunteer group dedicated to crime prevention on New York&#8217;s subways and streets, won the Republican nomination for mayor.
The general election for mayor will be held on November 4.

The billionaire investor compared a potential Mamdani-led New York to &#8220;another failed major city run by Democrats alongside Seattle, Chicago, LA, and SF,&#8221; quoting Senator John Fetterman&#8217;s (D-PA) assessment that Mamdani&#8217;s victory represented &#8220;Christmas in July for the GOP.&#8221;
&#8220;A mayor who disrespects the NYPD and has called for their defunding will get less effective policing, and Bratton&#8217;s &#8216;broken window theory&#8217; will operate in reverse,&#8221; Ackman wrote, warning that New York City would become &#8220;much more dangerous and economically unviable&#8221; under Mamdani&#8217;s administration.
Ackman assured potential candidates that funding would be instantly available, stating, &#8220;there are hundreds of million of dollars of capital available to back a competitor to Mamdani that can be put together overnight,&#8221; and adding that he is &#8220;in the text strings and the WhatsApp groups&#8221; organizing the effort.

Gov. Chris Cuomo <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/media/tv/chris-cuomo-declares-democratic-party-dead-after-brother-loses-nyc-mayoral-primary-tacitly-supporting-extreme-islamism/">blasted</a> the Democratic Party for its “extremism,” declaring the party all but “dead” in his eyes.
“The Democratic Party is now officially in MAGA mode. We are now, on both sides, in a period of extremism,” Cuomo said. “The same way MAGA played with the prejudices of white nationalism, you’re seeing an identical dynamic on the Left with prejudices like tacitly supporting extreme Islamism or targeting Jews.”
“For the Right, it’s migrants. For the Left, it’s Jews. It’s fundamentalist Christians dominating the Right. It’s fundamentalist Islamists making headway on the Left. I know that doesn’t sound like Democrats, but that party is dead. What it will be reborn as, we’ll see,” Cuomo added.
Mamdani has stated that he doesn&#8217;t believe Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state, refused to condemn calls to “globalize the intifada,” and recorded a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/06/21/us-news/socialist-nyc-mayoral-candidate-zohran-mamdani-once-rapped-about-his-love-for-hamas-teror-funding-group-holy-land-five/">rap song</a> expressing “love” to convicted Hamas financiers. His October 7 statement notably focused on “ending the occupation” without mentioning Hamas&#8217;s massacre of Israeli civilians.
“What we’re seeing now is that there are many in America who are adopting and adapting to fundamentalism. The outcome in this election wasn’t about affordability or about real change. The winner is an open socialist, and the Democratic Party is now just that: socialistic. But be clear, this is a fictional fix for very real frustrations,” Cuomo concluded.

President Donald Trump laid into New York City Democrats in a Wednesday afternoon post to Truth Social, saying they&#8217;d finally &#8220;crossed the line&#8221; when Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani pulled out a Democratic primary win in the New York City mayoral election.
&#8220;It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line,&#8221; Trump began in the first of two posts. &#8220;Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.&#8221;
&#8220;He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him,&#8221; Trump continued. &#8220;Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!&#8221;

In the second post, Trump offered some advice to the Democratic Party moving forward, suggesting they should go all in and nominate Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) for the presidency in 2028. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), he said, should be her vice presidential candidate.

Mamdani edged out disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) for the nomination, but may still face him again in the general election as Cuomo has not ruled out the possibility of a third-party run.
Based on his campaign website, Mamdani would <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-mayoral-hopeful-would-go-all-in-on-transing-the-kids-to-the-tune-of-65-million">dump millions of dollars</a> of city funding into transgender procedures and treatments — for adults and children — and challenge the Trump administration&#8217;s efforts to restrict such procedures for minors.

Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani received overwhelming support from many of New York&#8217;s wealthiest neighborhoods in Tuesday&#8217;s primary, while working-class voters earning under $50,000 rejected him by nearly 20 points in favor of ex-governor Andrew Cuomo — a margin that could increase.

Mandani emerged from the first round of New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary with roughly 44% of the vote, while Cuomo came in second with 36%.

Cuomo trounced Mamdani by nearly 20 points among black voters, while Mamdani won white voters by 5 points, Hispanic voters by 6, and Asian-Americans by 15.
Mamdani’s margin of victory in wealthier counties is likely to increase after several rounds of ranked-choice tabulation conclude throughout the week.
Given their close relationship throughout the campaign and similar policy platforms, votes from city Comptroller Brad Lander, who received 11% of first-round votes, will likely lean in his favor.
Many of New York’s most affluent neighborhoods <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/06/24/us/elections/results-new-york-city-mayor-primary.html">went</a> for Mamdani, including Cobble Hill (45% Mamdani, 16% Cuomo), Park Slope (45% Mamdani, 13% Cuomo), and Brooklyn Heights (36% Mamdani, 24% Cuomo). Lander also won several wealthy precincts in wealthy counties, according to the Times’ results.
Cuomo overwhelmingly won several working-class neighborhoods in the South Bronx and Eastern Brooklyn, winning Far Rockaway by a dominant 58 points, and Longwood by 27. Cuomo beat Mamdani in some wealthy neighborhoods, particularly in the Upper East Side and Tribeca.
