Former New York Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andrew-cuomo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andrew Cuomo</a> won a lawsuit Tuesday after a state Supreme Court ruled against a now-disbanded ethics agency that attempted to force the ex-governor to repay $5.1 million in profits he received from a book deal detailing his administration&#8217;s early response to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/covid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">COVID</a> pandemic.
The Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) accused Cuomo last year of misusing state resources and staff to write &#8220;American Crisis: Leadership Lessons From The COVID-19 Pandemic,&#8221; which Cuomo&#8217;s legal team denied, and the governor himself did not dispute that his staff helped with its publication, but only voluntarily.
Politico <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/16/cuomo-wins-lawsuit-over-his-book-deal-00052240" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> that Albany County Supreme Court Justice Denise Hartman issued a 17-page decision that sided with Cuomo, determining that the ethics commission overstepped its authority and violated due process by not following the order to bring an action against the former governor.
&#8220;JCOPE was seeking to impose sanctions for Cuomo&#8217;s alleged non-compliance with JCOPE&#8217;s outside activities rules,&#8221; Hartman wrote. However, state law says it can &#8220;impose sanctions only for violation of the statute, not for violations of JCOPE&#8217;s rules.&#8221;
Times Union <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.timesunion.com/state/article/Judge-rules-against-state-ethics-panel-in-Cuomo-s-17377578.php?utm_source=t.co&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;cmpid=twittersocialflow&amp;utm_campaign=socialflow" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> the judge said, &#8220;JCOPE issued the approval for the outside activity, then unilaterally determined wrongdoing, then withdrew the approval, and finally imposed the disgorgement penalty.&#8221;
Governor Cuomo&#8217;s attorney Rita Glavin said in a statement that the rule of law prevailed and exposed the ethics commission&#8217;s &#8220;utter lawlessness&#8221; against the former New York leader.
&#8220;JCOPE&#8217;s conduct was shameful, unlawful, and a waste of taxpayer&#8217;s funds,&#8221; Glavin said.
Cuomo and the state legislature created the ethics commission a decade ago until it disassembled last March after facing criticism that the 14-member panel controlled decision-making.
Cuomo resigned last year amid allegations of sexual harassment scandals and <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/story/2021/01/28/new-york-undercounted-nursing-home-deaths-by-as-much-50-percent-report-finds-1360742" target="_blank" rel="noopener">misreporting</a> of about 50% of COVID deaths in nursing homes. Republican and Democratic lawmakers lambasted the governor for suppressing the death toll as the ink dried on his contract to write a memoir about his pandemic response.
On March 25, 2020, Andrew Cuomo ordered that COVID-positive senior citizens could not be &#8220;denied re-admission or admission to the [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.&#8221;
The state reported 6,600 nursing home deaths from the coronavirus in August 2020. The New York Times estimates the accurate number of nursing home deaths total 15,000.
Governor Cuomo&#8217;s aide Melissa DeRosa confessed to state legislators that the administration &#8220;basically&#8221; froze the death toll.
&#8220;We weren&#8217;t sure if what we were going to give to the [Trump administration] Department of Justice … was going to be used against us, [and] we weren&#8217;t sure if there was going to be an investigation,&#8221; DeRosa said.
Democratic state assembly member Ronald Kim went public with the allegations, saying Cuomo called &#8220;to threaten my career if I did not cover up for&#8221; him.
Cuomo still has another ongoing probe into allegations he used state resources to write his book of pandemic memoirs from Attorney General Tish James and Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, per Politico.
If the ethics commission revamps with a new panel, Justice Hartman&#8217;s latest opinion suggests it could launch another action against Cuomo if it chooses.

Meanwhile, the White House has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-claims-it-was-blindsided-by-fbi-raid-on-trumps-mar-a-lago-reports">claimed</a> that it was completely unaware that the execution of the search warrant would occur.
According to multiple reports, the White House said it learned about the raid on Twitter, at the same time the media did.
New York Times reporter Jonathan Martin <a href="https://twitter.com/jmartNYT/status/1556783614582571008">tweeted</a> Monday night, &#8220;Senior White House officials found out about the FBI’s Mar a Lago raid on Twitter, had no notice, per source familiar.&#8221;
CBS News reporter Ed O’Keefe said a top Biden official told him the same thing.
“No advance knowledge. Some learned from old media some from social media,” O’Keefe quoted a senior administration official when <a class="x5l" href="https://twitter.com/edokeefe/status/1556790991570538496" target="_blank" rel="noopener external">asked</a> about the event.
In a lengthy statement, Trump initially <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-fbi-raids-trumps-home-at-mar-a-lago">announced</a> the dramatic raid decrying what he characterized as a political move.
The investigation is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-details-emerge-about-what-fbi-agents-were-searching-for-in-raid-on-trump-home-report-says">reportedly</a> centered around classified material Trump brought to Mar-a-Lago from the White House.

Disgraced television host Chris Cuomo announced Tuesday night that he has landed a new job in the news media and that he is going to try to be fair after he was routinely criticized for being a hardcore leftist while at CNN.
&#8220;Well, you are a part of my decision. I respect that you asked the questions. I think that&#8217;s how you show respect to our relationship is that you didn&#8217;t fake the funk. You asked what needs to be asked, I respect you for that,&#8221; Cuomo groveled to anchor Dan Abrams. &#8220;I respect how you do the job. I&#8217;ve been jealous of you while I&#8217;ve been away, watching.&#8221;
&#8220;And I want to help. I want to find a way to help people. I&#8217;m going to come to NewsNation. And I want to build something special here, work with Dan, work with the team here. They&#8217;ve got great people who are really hungry to make a difference in ways that I think matter,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I had decided that I can&#8217;t go back to what people see as the big game. Chris Cuomo filed a $125 million lawsuit against CNN, demanding $15 million in lost salary and $110 million in further damages, after he was terminated.
Debra S. Katz, a left-wing attorney, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-responds-to-sexual-misconduct-allegations-made-against-him">said</a> in a statement in December that she was representing a client who claimed that Chris Cuomo engaged in “serious sexual misconduct” against her at another network.
Katz said she notified CNN of the allegations and that the allegations are ultimately what led to Chris Cuomo being fired from CNN. Katz said in a statement that Cuomo demonstrated hypocrisy when he claimed he cared “very deeply” about the issue of sexual harassment only to be revealed in an investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James to have aided his brother’s efforts to &#8220;smear&#8221; his accusers.

Sidney Wolf, a former senior policy adviser for Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andrew-cuomo">Andrew Cuomo</a> (D-NY), was struck and killed by a car Sunday after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lyft">Lyft</a> driver forced him to exit the vehicle, according to police.
The 43-year-old father of two was riding with a group of five friends on Coastal Highway in Delaware in the early hours of Sunday morning, Fox 5 <a href="https://www.fox5dc.com/news/maryland-man-killed-after-lyft-driver-ends-ride-on-dewey-beach-highway-sidney-wolf-former-cuomo-advisor">reported</a>. Wolf and his friends were told to get out of the Lyft vehicle in the middle of the highway before he was fatally struck by another car.
“This is an extremely difficult time for our family,” the Wolf family wrote in a statement to Fox 5. “The level of shock and pain we feel right now cannot be measured as we continue to grieve. We truly appreciate the outpouring of love and support we’ve received and kindly request that the family’s privacy is respected as we move through this process.”
According to police, a disagreement arose between the Lyft driver and the passengers. The driver then stopped in the left lane and forced the passengers to exit the vehicle, according to a police report. Wolf was hit when a Toyota Corolla switched lanes to avoid hitting the Lyft vehicle but did not see Wolf standing in the road. Wolf died on the scene, and the other passengers were unharmed.
The driver of the Toyota pulled over, but according to detectives, the Lyft driver fled the scene in what is believed to be a white Honda Pilot and has yet to be identified by authorities.
A Lyft spokesperson told Fox 5 that the company was “heartbroken” by Wolf’s tragic death. “Our hearts are with the victim&#8217;s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and we’ve reached out to the ride requester to offer our support. We are in contact with law enforcement and will assist them however we can,” Lyft said in a statement.
A <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/sid-wolf-and-his-family?qid=15ef02d14636a8417d3f72e612bcd0dc">GoFundMe</a> set up Monday for Wolf’s family described the former governor&#8217;s adviser as a great husband, father, friend, and neighbor. The fundraiser quickly reached over $50,000.

Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo launched his own podcast on Thursday — &#8220;The Chris Cuomo Project&#8221; — marking his official return to broadcasting since he was <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cancelled-cuomo-loses-cnn-job-radio-gig-now-book-contract-pulled/">terminated</a> by CNN last December.
Cuomo was ousted from the cable news giant after reports broke that he had been instrumental in advising his brother — former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) — amid multiple scandals including his handling of the COVID pandemic and allegations of sexual harassment and assault.
The former &#8220;Cuomo Prime Time&#8221; anchor addressed that situation briefly during his first broadcast, sharing a few comments but noting that he had to be respectful of any ongoing investigations.
&#8220;Now for me, the past is the past, and there is no benefit to you if I re-litigate what was said and done involving my brother,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;And there are some outstanding legal fights that I have to respect, but let me be clear. I really do regret how everything ended, but I will never regret helping my family. I promised my father, I would always be there for my brother and I always will be just like he has always been there for me, just like my sisters have been there for me and have been there for him. That’s family,&#8221; Cuomo explained.
As for the new podcast, Cuomo promised fair conversation and dialogue, arguing that progress could only come if people were open-minded and ready to engage with each other.

Cuomo went on to note that, despite his support for his brother and his late father — former Governor Mario Cuomo (D-NY) — he didn&#8217;t always see eye to political eye even with members of his own family.

In December 2020, <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cuomo-santas-going-to-be-very-good-to-me-i-worked-hard-this-year-dean-fires-to-help-kill-seniors-jobs-new-york-state/">speaking at a press conference</a>, Cuomo, seemingly unconscious of how many New Yorkers had died from the virus during his tenure, stated:

Chris Cuomo, who spent years as the highest-rated anchor on low-rated CNN’s prime time roster, has filed a bombshell legal complaint, exposing numerous previously unknown scandals involving his former employer.
If Cuomo’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-demands-125-million-from-cnn-cuomos-journalistic-integrity-unjustifiably-smeared">$125 million</a> arbitration request is to be believed, even the most cynical view of how CNN executives deliberately skewed the network’s political coverage against Republicans and in favor of Democrats, flouted journalistic ethics, and cozied up to powerful politicos for their own benefit is too kind.
Here are a few of the most damning allegations Chris Cuomo makes in his latest legal filings, which were obtained and <a href="https://deadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Cuomo-CNN-Arbitration-Demand-1.pdf">published</a> by Deadline.
1. CNN’s leaders advised then-Governor Andrew Cuomo — and gave him advice on &#8216;responding&#8217; to Trump 
Chris Cuomo first encountered real turbulence with CNN leaders when The Washington Post reported that he advised his brother, then New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), on how to handle numerous allegations of sexual harassment. The network later suspended him on the grounds that his role exceeded anything he disclosed. But Cuomo maintains not only that the network knew all about his role in helping his brother, but that the network brass advised Governor Cuomo themselves.
“Until May 2021, CNN never asked Cuomo to stop or curtail his efforts to assist his brother through the sexual harassment allegations, despite being fully aware of Cuomo’s role assisting him,” the filing says — an allegation it makes numerous times.
But then comes a new wrinkle according to Cuomo&#8217;s filing: Then-CNN President Jeff Zucker and his paramour Allison Gollust — Governor Cuomo’s former communications director — gave Governor Cuomo advice regarding his handling of COVID-19.
“Zucker and Gollust acted as advisors to Gov. Cuomo during this time by providing him with talking points and strategies for responding to statements made by then-President Donald Trump,” says Chris Cuomo’s legal brief.
Furthermore, Cuomo alleges that Gollust also gave advice to the governor about how to respond to the sexual harassment allegations. He cited a <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/cnn-probe-finds-allison-gollust-assisted-chris-cuomo-in-his-efforts-to-help-andrew-cuomo-11645829880">Wall Street Journal article</a> that notes Gollust “sent Chris Cuomo a sentence she said she would have added to a statement that Andrew Cuomo had issued earlier that day in February of last year, after an accuser went public.”
Gollust also asked Cuomo “whether one of Gov. Cuomo’s accusers had ever said publicly that Gov. Cuomo had never touched her, saying that CNN should report on such a statement if it had been made,” Cuomo’s legal complaint says.
Gollust strongly denied the charges through spokeswoman Risa Heller. “Allison Gollust never offered advice or counsel to Andrew Cuomo. Period,” Heller told WSJ. “If she wanted to advise the governor, she could have called or texted him directly (she didn’t).” Heller went on to call Gollust’s texts “mundane” and “innocuous” while dismissing the accusations as “farfetched.”
2. CNN arranged the questions Andrew Cuomo would be asked on the air 
Allison Gollust “agreed to pre-arrange questions for Gov. Cuomo in advance of interviews,” Chris Cuomo states. Then-Governor Cuomo had a longstanding relationship with Gollust, whom he <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/former-cnn-exec-gollust-gleefully-texted-andrew-cuomo-trump">hired</a> as his communications director between her stints working with Zucker at NBC and CNN (October 2012 until March 2013). The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/18/business/media/allison-gollust-cnn-cuomo.html">reported</a> that before a March 2020 CNN interview:
<blockquote>Governor Cuomo had told a senior CNN executive, Allison Gollust, about subjects that he’d like to be asked about on air, according to several people familiar with the matter. Ms. Gollust, CNN’s longtime chief of communications and marketing and a former top aide of the governor, passed along the topics to CNN producers and then reported back to the governor.
“Done,” she wrote.</blockquote>
The newspaper of record noted it is “unusual” for a senior producer to be involved in this stage of the interview process, especially one involving a former employer. Even Gollust seemed to find the arrangement unusual, texting the governor, “I’m pretty sure I stopped being your publicist 8 years ago, but apparently I still am.” But Rolling Stone reported that Gollust praised Governor Cuomo after a CNN interview, “Well done . . . Cuomo-W. Trump-L.”
The interlude adds fuel to the notion that Gollust and Governor Cuomo’s relationship amounted to a never-ending quid pro quo. For instance, Gollust’s spokeswoman acknowledges that Gollust asked the governor to help a friend get past bureaucratic red tape in order to open a business.
Gollust once texted Cuomo, “I never ask you for favors, but . . .” Cuomo replied, “Yes, u do ask me for favors, and that’s okay. It’s mutual.” That favoritism apparently extended to CNN interviews. “The network brass’s interactions with the governor represented <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-perpetrated-the-worst-kind-of-journalistic-lapse-in-bashing-trump-promoting-andrew-cuomo-experts">the worst kind of journalistic lapse</a>,” wrote journalist Tatiana Siegel.
3. CNN told Chris Cuomo to conduct his &#8216;comedic&#8217; interviews with his brother
One of Chris Cuomo’s most controversial on-air interactions came during a series of interviews he conducted with his brother during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also the height of Governor Cuomo’s popularity, as the media built him up as a competent Democratic alternative to President Donald Trump. But Chris Cuomo says he never wanted to perform any of the interviews; he and his brother were forced.
“Despite Cuomo’s and Gov. Cuomo’s expressed reservations, CNN demanded through its leadership that Cuomo interview Gov. Cuomo frequently.” That request came from Allison Gollust, who “communicated directly with Gov. Cuomo to tell him how ‘important’ it was to Zucker that Gov. Cuomo appear on Cuomo’s show,” alleges Chris Cuomo.
The younger Cuomo says he and his brother dutifully complied with the network’s order to appear together on camera as frequently as possible. “Indeed, between March 19, 2020 and June 24, 2020, Gov. Cuomo appeared on Cuomo’s program nine times. These interviews became wildly popular among viewers, and CNN benefited enormously from the resulting ratings bonanza,” the complaint says.
The two brothers gave CNN viewers a rehash of the classic <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuyLbp1kQxY">Smothers Brothers’ sibling rivalry act</a> from the 1960s. Chris also engaged in prop comedy with multiple oversized Q-tips supposedly being used to test his brother for COVID-19. For his part, the governor yucked it up, calling himself “a cool dude in a loose mood.”
A <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/05/business/media/brothers-cuomo-andrew-chris.html?smid=emshare.">New York Times article</a> of that era described Zucker as moving news in the direction of “reality television.” But NowThis News at the time <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHGhAIEqJcg">called</a> the brothers “America&#8217;s Favorite TV Family.”

4. CNN brass hinted they would fire Chris Cuomo if Andrew Cuomo appeared on other networks
Jeffrey Zucker and Allison Gollust supposedly used Chris Cuomo’s employment as a bargaining chip to keep Governor Andrew Cuomo from appearing on other networks — and to maximize the then-popular governor’s appearances on CNN. “CNN, through executives Zucker and Zucker’s second-in- command, Allison Gollust … made a concerted effort to cement and strengthen the network’s ties to Gov. Cuomo and his administration and control his media presence for CNN’s exclusive benefit. CNN pushed Gov. Cuomo not to appear on other networks, intimating that not honoring CNN’s request might threaten [Chris] Cuomo’s professional standing with the network,” the legal complaint says.
The network also allegedly “requested that Gov. Cuomo hold his daily COVID-19 press conference at a time that was most suitable for the network based on its program schedule and when its ratings were weakest.” The time when CNN’s “ratings were weakest” should have given Governor Cuomo a significant range of time to choose from.
5. CNN execs used their relationship with Governor Cuomo to get COVID-19 tests
An early Chris Cuomo scandal occurred when he was accused of gaining access to highly sought-after COVID-19 rapid tests thanks to his family connections to the governor. It later emerged that Chris Cuomo was offered <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-was-offered-early-access-to-covid-19-treatment">human blood</a> plasma from a donor who had recovered from COVID-19, an experimental treatment before the vaccine became available. But Chris Cuomo’s legal filings say CNN network executives exploited their proximity to Governor Andrew Cuomo for the same purpose. “Notably, for years CNN did not discipline Gollust or Zucker for their egregious violations of CNN policy, including both Gollust and Zucker using their privileged access to Gov. Cuomo to secure COVID tests,” Cuomo says.
6. CNN has no journalistic ethics
Chris Cuomo’s arbitration complaint establishes numerous allegations that CNN had no real journalistic code of ethics. Zucker selectively applied rules to shield favored commentators and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-fires-rick-santorum-after-he-claimed-founding-fathers-birthed-a-nation-from-nothing">punish disfavored employees</a> (especially <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rick-santorums-firing-proves-cnn-doesnt-want-to-hear-anyone-who-sounds-like-you">political conservatives</a>):
<blockquote>CNN has a long-established pattern and practice of selectively enforcing its policies based on cynical calculations of public perception. Indeed, CNN fostered a culture in which ‘exceptions’ to the network’s standards and practices were routinely sanctioned, and that culture began at the top with Zucker and Gollust. As long as CNN’s ratings would not be hurt, Zucker and Gollust were more than willing to overlook major transgressions by CNN personalities such as Don Lemon and Jake Tapper, or even to engage in blatant misconduct themselves.</blockquote>
Cuomo notes that actor Jussie Smollett said during his trial that CNN&#8217;s Don Lemon told him that Chicago police did not believe his tale that angry men attacked him and threw a noose around his neck as they shouted, “This is MAGA country!” Cuomo mentions CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin’s restoration at the network following his “sordid act of sexual harassment.”
Interestingly, Chris Cuomo cites Fox News as a — to coin a phrase — reliable source when it comes to the activities of his former CNN colleagues. “Fox News reported on September 10, 2020 that CNN anchor Jake Tapper had repeatedly urged Congressional candidate Sean Parnell not to run against Rep. Conor Lamb, but to run in a ‘safer,’ more heavily Republican district,” Cuomo’s complaint notes, adding that the network took no action against Tapper.
This author reported allegations that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-cnn-employee-says-outlet-has-no-real-ethical-code">CNN has no real ethical code</a> and tilted its journalistic ethics as it saw fit. “You won’t see any rules that are etched in stone so that a violation could be a firing offense,” said Steve Holmes, who spent a decade at CNN before retiring during Zucker’s tenure at CNN. “They can’t say that [Cuomo]’s violated any written policies because there aren’t any, period.” Cuomo essentially endorsed that view, saying, “CNN fostered a culture in which the network’s standards and practices were a constantly moving target, modified at CNN executives’ discretion as they saw fit.”
7. Chris Cuomo thinks he has journalistic integrity
Chris Cuomo’s phenomenal $125 million figure comes, because he’s seeking the remaining $15 million due to him under the terms of his contract, plus $110 million in damages against CNN. The reason? From now on, no one will take him seriously as a journalist.
“Cuomo has had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-demands-125-million-from-cnn-cuomos-journalistic-integrity-unjustifiably-smeared">his journalistic integrity unjustifiably smeared</a>,” his legal complaint stated. “As a direct result of CNN’s calculated efforts to tar and feather him, Cuomo is now untouchable in the world of broadcast journalism, effectively bringing his storied career to a premature end and costing him decades of earnings, exceeding $125 million in consequential damages.”
The use of the word “untouchable” may be ironic. But so, too, are his claims of journalism. In 2020, Tucker Carlson released a tape of Chris Cuomo coaching Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen on how to answer questions at the network. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tucker-carlson-releases-bombshell-tape-of-cuomo-coaching-cohen-on-how-to-answer-interview-questions">reported</a> Carlson’s summary of the tape:
<blockquote>“Michael Cohen was worried about doing the interview because he knew he’d get questions about the payments he made to Stormy Daniels. He wanted Chris Cuomo to tell him what to say,” Carlson continued. “Now on TV, Cuomo might’ve launched into a lecture about how it’s wrong to send money to strippers, but in private, he skipped that lecture.”
“‘You will be asked that,’ Chris Cuomo told Michael Cohen, and you can say, ‘I did it for him, for Donald Trump. My relationship has always been for him. I’ve always said I don’t speak for the campaign, I speak for him as his attorney,&#8217;” Carlson continued. “Cuomo went on to elaborate, ‘And to the question of motive,’ he told Cohen, ‘the response would have to be, you can speculate as to why you think I did it all day long, but the only answer is my answer, and I just told you why I did it. You don’t get to speculate because if you can’t prove that I got paid back by Trump or the campaign, it is slander and defamation for you to say that I did.&#8217;”</blockquote>

All of the foregoing is offered with the caveat that this comes from Chris Cuomo’s legal complaint. It may well be false; given Cuomo’s journalistic standards, one would hardly be surprised. But this reporter has included the few responses the subjects have offered; for the most part, they have refused public comment. And the discerning viewer needed no internal document to know something was rotten during Zucker’s highly contentious tenure as network president, which saw the fall of CNN’s ratings eclipsed only by its journalistic integrity, balance, and reliability — a fall Cuomo’s legal brief confirms in every particular.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is floating a political comeback months after leaving office in disgrace following accusations of sexual misconduct.
The former Democratic governor said Thursday that he is open to running for governor as well as launching a new political party to do so. Cuomo resigned as governor in August after New York Attorney General Letitia James published a <a href="https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2021.08.03_nyag_-_investigative_report.pdf">report</a> concluding that Cuomo “sexually harassed a number of” women.
Cuomo spoke to a group of clergy gathered in a small Pentecostal church in the Bronx Thursday, the ex-governor’s second public address in two weeks as he appears to work his way back into public life.
“I’m open to all options,” Cuomo said when asked if he was considering another run for office, according to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-17/cuomo-says-he-s-open-to-running-for-n-y-governor-again">Bloomberg</a>. Asked if he would consider creating another political party for the bid, Cuomo answered, “I’ve done it before. My father’s done it before.”
Cuomo previously started a new party in 2014 during his run for reelection as governor of New York. Cuomo launched a party called the Women’s Equality Party in an effort to appeal to women telling stories of sexual harassment at the hands of powerful men. Critics called the move a cynical ploy to draw voters away from the progressive Working Families Party, at the time considering backing Cuomo’s progressive challenger.
Since leaving office, Cuomo has maintained his innocence and blamed “cancel culture” for pushing him out. In February, Cuomo <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-02-07/andrew-cuomo-says-he-s-been-vindicated-won-t-rule-out-run">said</a> that if he could go back, he would never have resigned from office. “I never resigned because I said I did something wrong. I said, I’m resigning because I don’t want to be a distraction,” the former governor said.
Cuomo resigned in disgrace last year amid numerous allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct as well as bipartisan anger over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. In February 2021, some Democratic legislators began calling for impeachment proceedings against the then-sitting governor over his COVID-19 policies surrounding the virus’ impact on nursing homes and New York&#8217;s elderly.
“Cuomo abused his powers to hide life and death information from the Department of Justice that prevented lawmakers from legislating – like fully repealing corporate immunity for nursing homes. That is an impeachable offense,” New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/an-impeachable-offense-new-york-democrat-demands-cuomo-face-inquiry-over-nursing-home-order">said</a> in a social media post.
“The only way to protect the integrity of the co-equal branch of the state government, AKA the ‘People’s House,’ is to start impeachment,” he added.
Democratic state Sen. Julia Salazar said at the time: “I’ve seen enough. We need real accountability for this.”
“This is a betrayal of the public trust,” Democratic state Sen. Andrew Gounardes added. “There needs to be full accountability for what happened, and the legislature needs to reconsider its broad grant of emergency powers to the governor.”

Disgraced former New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is reportedly considering a political comeback from his sexual scandal by running against his replacement, Governor Kathy Hochul, in a bid to reclaim the role as the state&#8217;s governor.
&#8220;Cuomo, who reluctantly left office last year after denying the harassment allegations, has been fielding calls from supporters about a possible run against his former lieutenant governor,&#8221; CNBC <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/16/former-ny-gov-andrew-cuomo-considers-running-against-kathy-hochul-despite-opposition-from-party.html">reported</a>. &#8220;His aides have been conducting their own internal voter polling on a potential matchup, these people explained.&#8221;
Polls conducted by Emerson College and The Hill showed that Cuomo wasn’t far behind Hochul, which sparked a slew of phone calls from political allies who started to push Cuomo to run again for the position, said a source close to him, who spoke anonymously.
The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/597745-hochul-cuomo-neck-and-neck-in-hypothetical-governor-primary-poll?rl=1">highlighted</a> the results from their poll last week:
<blockquote>The poll shows that if Cuomo, who resigned last year over sexual misconduct allegations, were to run for his old seat, Hochul would lead the primary field with 37 percent support among Democratic primary voters, while Cuomo would come in second with 33 percent. Rep. Thomas Suozzi (D) would come in third place with just over 7 percent, and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams comes in fourth with 4 percent.
Should Cuomo remain out of the race, Hochul would have a yawning advantage with 42 percent support in the field. Williams would jump up to just under 10 percent in the race, while no other contender breaks double digits.</blockquote>
CNBC noted that Cuomo would need to meet the threshold of voter petition signatures required to be on the ballot by next month, as the Democrat primary is scheduled for June.
CNBC added:
<blockquote>Although supporters are encouraging him to run, there have been many leaders within his party who have said publicly and in conversations with CNBC that they are hoping he doesn’t run, after multiple scandals followed him out of office. The New York Times reported on Tuesday that an audit shows Cuomo’s administration failed to publicly account for the deaths of almost 4,100 nursing home residents during the height of the coronavirus pandemic. &#8230;
Still, the person close to Cuomo, when discussing whether he’s ruled out running against Hochul, pointed to Cuomo’s recent speech at a church in Brooklyn, where he said, “I am blessed, I have many options in life and I am open to all, but on the question if I am at peace, No I am not.” Cuomo also used the speech to point out that multiple district attorneys did not bring criminal charges against him.</blockquote>
“As the Governor has said since the beginning this was the weaponization of politics to do what couldn’t get done at the ballot box, and it’s important to him and his family that the record get set straight and efforts to rewrite history don’t succeed,” Richard Azzopardi, Cuomo’s chief spokesperson, claimed in an email to CNBC. “As he has said all along, he has thoughts and opinions about the direction of this state and the Democratic Party as a whole and he won’t hesitate to make them known.”

CNN, which prides itself on being “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/can-partisanship-and-profanity-save-cnn-from-its-ratings-collapse">the most trusted name in news</a>,” committed the most fundamental violations of journalistic ethics in its efforts to bash President Donald Trump and portray then-<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-fall-of-andrew-cuomo-how-an-empire-built-on-fear-came-crashing-down">New York Governor Andrew Cuomo</a> (D) in a positive light, a new exposé in Rolling Stone states. CNN network brass engaged in a “consistent exchange of favors” with Cuomo and boasted their coverage resulted in “Cuomo-W. Trump-L.”
The article also reveals that the scandal-plagued former governor, who resigned after nearly a dozen women accused him of sexual harassment, told Jeff Zucker’s mistress that they engaged in “mutual” exchange of favors — and that he wanted to be her “pool boy.”
“The network brass’s interactions with the governor represented the worst kind of journalistic lapse,” wrote Tatiana Siegel in the article, which ran on Friday, summarizing the consensus of numerous ethicists. One of them, University of Missouri journalism professor Ryan Thomas, said CNN’s interactions with former Governor Cuomo constitute “one of the most clear-cut ethical breaches you could think of.”
At the center of the controversy is Allison Gollust, a former CNN executive whose personal relationship with Jeff Zucker cost them both their jobs at the network.
Cuomo, Gollust, and Zucker enjoy a long, symbiotic relationship going back at least a decade. Gollust had <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/allison-gollust-woman-relationship-ex-cnn-chief-jeff-zucker-also-resig-rcna16408">worked</a> with Zucker at NBCUniversal <a href="https://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/01/communications-chief-to-depart-nbc/?smid=pl-share">until 2011</a>. After she left the network, then-Governor Cuomo <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/former-cnn-exec-gollust-gleefully-texted-andrew-cuomo-trump">hired</a>Gollust as his communications director from October 2012 until March 2013, when she rejoined Zucker at CNN.
When President Donald Trump threatened to quarantine New York to stop the spread of COVID-19 in March 2020, text messages obtained by Rolling Stone show that Cuomo texted Gollust, “Ask Jeff to call me plz.”
Within hours, Cuomo forcefully told Ana Cabrera that such a quarantine would cause the stock market to “drop like a stone” and decimate the U.S. economy “for months, if not years.”
After the interview, Gollust texted Cuomo, “Well done . . . Cuomo-W. Trump-L.”
She also told Cuomo, “I’m pretty sure I stopped being your publicist 8 years ago, but apparently I still am.”
A Democratic operative told the magazine that the relationship between Cuomo and Gollust involved an inappropriate level of quid pro quo. “It was clear that she leveraged the relationship … There was a consistent exchange of favors between them.” Gollust’s spokeswoman acknowledges that Gollust asked the governor to help a friend expediate the bureaucratic regulations necessary to open a business. Gollust once texted Cuomo, “I never ask you for favors, but . . .”
Cuomo replied, “Yes, u do ask me for favors, and that’s okay. It’s mutual.”
Gollust “was a key player in Cuomogate, providing talking points to the governor — for whom she worked briefly between stints with Zucker,” notes Siegel. She added that Zucker helped “foster a toxic culture at two networks” (CNN and NBC) and “fan the flames of the disinformation age along the way.”
The CEO of CNN’s current parent company, Jason Kilar, said an investigation “found violations of Company policies, including CNN’s News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust, and Chris Cuomo.”
Andrew Cuomo and Allison Gollust also engaged in flirtatious texts, Rolling Stone <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/jeff-zucker-cnn-resign-affair-cuomo-trump-1319698/">reports</a>:
<blockquote>In early 2020, several months after his split from partner Sandra Lee, Cuomo asked Gollust, “You don’t want to see me now that I’m single?” She replied, “A drink with you would be the best date I’ve had in a while.” Four months later, he fired off a text to Gollust suggesting he be her “pool boy.” She responded that she’d welcome that scenario, and they set up a call. When their texting resumed, Gollust wrote, “That was fun. Sleep well.”</blockquote>
Both parties deny they had any physical relationship, with Gollust’s spokeswoman calling the allegations of an affair with Andrew Cuomo “disgusting, sexist, and patently false.”
Cuomo appears to be launching a political comeback after resigning as governor of New York last August, shortly after New York Attorney General Letitia James released a <a href="https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2021.08.03_nyag_-_investigative_report.pdf">165-page report</a> documenting that 11 women accused the governor of sexual harassment. Their allegations ranged from claiming Governor Cuomo fondled a woman’s breast under her clothes, groped multiple women’s buttocks over their clothes, or asked inappropriate questions about having sex with an older man. James’ report cited 70,000 pieces of evidence.

Recently unearthed emails between Chris Cuomo reveal that the CNN host assisted his brother’s public relations efforts to deny charges that the state deliberately covered up the number of senior citizens who died in nursing homes with COVID-19.
The revelation comes amid <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21408525-emailtranche">157 pages of emails</a> between Cuomo and the Executive Chamber, the employees who served then-<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-fall-of-andrew-cuomo-how-an-empire-built-on-fear-came-crashing-down">New York Governor Andrew Cuomo</a> (D).
The Cuomo administration had rushed out a draft statement responding to a New York Times story revealing that Governor Cuomo’s administration had dramatically minimized the number of COVID-19 deaths in the state’s nursing homes.
The all-capitalization statement, emailed to the governor’s senior advisers last March 4, said “STATEMENTS FROM DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SPOKESMAN GARY HOLMES AND SPECIAL COUNSEL TO THE GOVERNOR BETH GARVEY IN RESPONSE TO THE NEW YORK TIMES STORY ON NURSING HOMES.”
Two advisers found the story incomprehensible. “None of this is in English. What’s the English answer for the dummies who can’t read this?” asked pollster and strategist Jefrey Pollock, who now <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/12/12/hochul-retains-pollster-who-helped-cuomo-fight-sex-harass-claims/">works for</a> Governor Kathy Hochul. “Agreed,” wrote adviser Lis Smith.
At that time Chris Cuomo, who was at the time CNN’s top-rated anchor, helped his brother’s team push back against the allegation, which proved to be true. Chris Cuomo advised that, “to be effective,” the all-capitalized headline had to say the New York Times had gotten the story wrong and claim the newspaper of record had not given the governor’s office enough time to respond to the charges. Cuomo wrote:

The legacy media lionized Andrew Cuomo at the height of the coronavirus global pandemic, often carrying his daily live briefings and lauding him as a stable, competent, successful alternative to President Donald Trump.
On March 25, 2020, Andrew Cuomo <a href="https://dmna.ny.gov/covid19/docs/all/DOH_COVID19%20_NHAdmissionsReadmissions_%20032520.pdf">ordered</a> that COVID-positive senior citizens could not be “denied re-admission or admission to the [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.” State political observers speculated the move came as a payback to the Greater New York Hospital Association, which donated $1 million to the governor’s 2018 campaign.
The state reported <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/timeline-andrew-cuomos-scandalous-covid-19-response">6,600</a> nursing home deaths from the coronavirus in August 2020. The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-nursing-homes.html">estimates</a> the accurate total nursing home death total at 15,000.
As the deaths began to mount, Governor Cuomo’s aide Melissa DeRosa <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-cuomos-top-aide-says-new-york-hid-nursing-home-death-toll">confessed</a> to state legislators, “Basically, we froze” the death toll We weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the [Trump administration] Department of Justice … was going to be used against us, [and] we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.” Democratic state assembly member Ronald Kim went public with the allegations, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-lawmaker-claims-governor-cuomo-threatened-to-destroy-him-over-nursing-home-criticisms">saying</a> that Cuomo called “to threaten my career if I did not cover up for” him.
While Governor Cuomo resigned last August over mounting pressure over sexual harassment allegations levied by nearly a dozen women, his nursing home malfeasance has gone unpunished.
Last May, The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/chris-cuomo-andrew-cuomo/2021/05/20/99579382-b7f9-11eb-bb84-6b92dedcd8ed_story.html">broke the story</a> that Chris Cuomo advised his brother on sexual harassment allegations, but it said nothing about the nursing home scandal.
After the revelation that the two brothers regularly conferred on messaging, Chris Cuomo <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMpz-_Ef3EI">vowed</a> that “it will not happen again.” CNN made similar pledges. Then-CNN President Jeff Zucker steadfastly stood by the host of “Cuomo Prime Time” though multiple rounds of scandals, but ultimately fired him last December. Zucker, in turn, was fired for failing to disclose a personal relationship with a co-worker.
The new wrinkle is the second previously unreported detail to emerge from the same tranche of Chris Cuomo’s emails. The messages, obtained via a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request made by the New York Post, revealed that a New York <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-was-offered-early-access-to-covid-19-treatment">doctor offered CNN’s Chris Cuomo human blood</a> plasma from a patient who had recovered from COVID-19. Through a go-between, Dr. Christopher Hillyer of the New York Blood Center offered Chris Cuomo “convalescent plasma” in April 2020, as the CNN host suffered from COVID-19. Injecting sick patients with the blood plasma of those who recovered served as an experimental treatment before the COVID-19 vaccine became available to the public.

As Chris Cuomo publicized his suffering from COVID-19 in 2020, he received an offer from a New York City doctor to infuse the then-CNN host with the human blood plasma of someone who had recovered from the virus, newly released emails reveal.
“Today Dr. Chris Hillyer, CEO of the New York Blood Center, asked that I reach out to you and offer to deliver convalescent plasma to Chris Cuomo,” wrote Mary Ann Tighe on April 17, 2020. “Should the Cuomo family elect to take Dr. Hillyer up on his offer, his cell number is [redacted].”
Tighe — who is a <a href="https://www.cbre.com/people/mary-ann-tighe">CEO</a> of CBRE, which <a href="https://www.cbre.us/about/corporate-information">describes</a> itself as “the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm” — addressed her email to Melissa DeRosa, an intimate aide to then-<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-fall-of-andrew-cuomo-how-an-empire-built-on-fear-came-crashing-down">New York Governor Andrew Cuomo</a> (D), who forwarded the email to Chris.
Chris Cuomo replied to the offer of “convalescent plasma” by asking, “What is that?”
“Someone’s blood who already had COVID – experimental treatment…” clarified DeRosa.
“Sounds spooky,” Cuomo responded.
“[Y]es but, hey, far be it for me to hold back an offer of someone&#8217;s blood,” DeRosa joked.
“I dont [sic] want to try something that extreme when I Am [sic] not dying,” Cuomo said in his final email on the matter. “But thanks.”
Doctors believed the experimental plasma treatment, which came before the release of the COVID-19 vaccine, would help patients recover by providing them with the antibodies of people who already overcome the coronavirus. The treatment, which <a href="https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2022/an-update-on-convalescent-plasma-for-covid-19">remains controversial</a>, would be “virtually unobtainable by anyone unrelated to then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo,” <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/03/10/chris-cuomo-offered-rare-covid-plasma-in-2020-emails-reveal/">wrote</a> Conor Skelding of the New York Post, which obtained 147 pages of emails tied to Chris Cuomo.
“It’s shocking if the Blood Center was offering convalescent therapy to the most powerful New Yorkers,” said New York City Council member Ben Dallos, a Democrat. “I certainly hope the Blood Center isn’t offering better treatment to the most powerful.”
The New York Blood Center told The Daily Wire in a statement that there was enough supply in April to meet hospital demand.
&#8220;In the spring of 2020, New York Blood Center became the first to collect COVID-19 convalescent plasma and New Yorkers turned out in droves for their neighbors. We were able to collect 10K donations throughout April and quickly had an adequate supply to meet demand at hospitals,&#8221; said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bruce Sachais. &#8220;The outreach to Chris Cuomo was part of a larger effort to get the new treatment to sick patients and spread the word about the need for recovered patients to donate plasma.”
Just over a year after Hillyer made his offer to the governor’s brother, the New York City Council voted to allow his Blood Center to build a 230-foot-tall tower strongly opposed by local residents. The vote marked “the first time in at least a decade that city lawmakers backed a project over the wishes of the local lawmaker, Councilman Ben Kallos (D-Manhttan),” <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/11/23/ny-city-council-backs-new-blood-center-tower-amid-fierce-pushback/">reported</a> the Post.
&#8220;I wonder who else got this special therapy,” said Kallos.
Cuomo has previously been accused of accepting preferential treatment. Last year, federal agents <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/feds-now-investigating-whether-andrew-cuomo-let-family-jump-the-line-for-covid-testing">opened an investigation</a> into whether then-Gov. Cuomo gave his brother access to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/reports-chris-cuomo-special-covid-19-testing-c7114a57c939730ff5f87c74de4e2e96">rapid COVID-19 tests</a> that were unavailable to the general public.
The plasma offer came as Chris Cuomo told CNN viewers that he had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-proven-lie-cnn-chris-cuomo-blasted-for-suspicious-claim-about-cuomo-in-quarantine">quarantined</a> himself in his basement following his March 2020 diagnosis; he later posted a <a href="https://twitter.com/CuomoPrimeTime/status/1252411300598038529">video</a> of himself dramatically emerging from his lair. But Cuomo got caught outside his home by a local man taking a bike ride on Easter Sunday; Cuomo later <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/04/14/long-island-bicyclist-verbally-attacked-by-chris-cuomo-fires-back/">berated</a> the man as a “jacka** loser fat-tire biker” on his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-out-at-siriusxm-radio-show">now-defunct SiriusXM Radio show</a>.
At the time of the alleged offer, Cuomo hosted CNN’s most widely watched program, “Cuomo Prime Time.”
“CNN declined to comment on the emails,” wrote Skelding. “Hillyer, who made $1.8 million in 2019, didn’t return a request for comment.”
Hillyer’s online biography <a href="https://www.nybc.org/about-us/nybc-overview/christopher-d-hillyer-md/">describes</a> him as the “author of over 175 articles pertaining to transfusion, human immunodeficiency virus, and herpes viruses.”
