Claudia Sheinbaum, the former mayor of Mexico City, was elected as Mexico’s first female president on Sunday.
Sheinbaum, of the Morena party and the heir-apparent to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), won 58.6% of the votes with 73% of the ballots counted, Mexico’s election agency reported.
Candidate Xóchitl Gálvez garnered 28.4% of the vote and conceded defeat, while Jorge Álvarez Máynez, from the center-left Citizen Movement, won 10.6% of the vote. Galvez <a href="applewebdata://CFABA400-A5CA-40BC-96DF-222A409BD3D5/v">warned</a>, &#8220;I want to stress that my recognition (of Sheinbaum&#8217;s victory) comes with a firm demand for results and solutions to the country&#8217;s serious problems.&#8221;
“Morena and its allies also appeared headed for a two-thirds majority in Congress needed to make constitutional changes without opposition support,” The Wall Street Journal reported<a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/americas/mexico-election-vote-results-af55cbce?mod=hp_lead_pos8">,</a> adding that it was the “first time a Mexican leader will have such a large congressional majority since the early 1990s.”
In an attempt to reassure voters that her newfound power would not become autocratic, Sheinbaum stated, “We are democrats and out of conviction would never be an authoritarian or repressive government.”
But Carlos Elizondo, a professor of government at the Tecnológico de Monterrey university, warned, “This is the worst scenario that could have happened.”
“If I’m an investor, I’m thinking these guys just got a blank check and what’s going to happen,” political analyst Antonio Ocaranza said. “López Obrador wants to complete his agenda and take the political cost of those decisions while leaving Sheinbaum a blank slate to begin.”

In May 2023, López Obrador had stated he was supporting a campaign to get Hispanics, especially Mexican-Americans, <a href="https://thehill.com/latino/4020967-mexican-president-tells-florida-hispanics-dont-give-one-single-vote-to-desantis/">not to vote</a> for Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, as well as attacking Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott, saying, “The governor of Texas, campaigning, [saying] he will militarize the border and that he will continue building [the] wall; and the governor of Florida, the same, because he wants to be the Republican Party candidate and he’s politicking.”
The Heritage Foundation <a href="https://www.heritage.org/americas/commentary/the-influence-lopez-obrador-the-internal-politics-the-united-states">reported</a> in June 2023 of López Obrador (AMLO), “Mexico’s president is also saying that he wants to cut a deal with his country’s powerful cartels, which already control parts of the country that AMLO’s government supposedly governs. These cartels are responsible for producing deadly drugs that have caused more than <a href="https://nida.nih.gov/research-topics/trends-statistics/overdose-death-rates#:~:text=Figure%201.,illicit%20drugs%20and%20prescription%20opioids." data-external="yes">100,000 overdose</a> deaths in the United States.
Sheinbaum, 62, is Jewish. Her grandparents fled Eastern Europe before World War II. She is not religiously observant.

Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ted-cruz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ted Cruz</a> (R-TX) slammed lefist Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, known as AMLO, this week over his demand that the U.S. give billions of dollars to Latin American countries and assist Marxist regimes or else Mexico will continue to allow illegal aliens to flood the U.S. southern border.
Cruz&#8217;s remarks come after AMLO <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amlo-claims-he-ended-corruption-in-mexico-not-worried-about-hundreds-of-political-assassinations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> during an interview that aired on Sunday that he ended corruption in Mexico and that the hundreds of political assassinations that are carried out every year in his country are not a threat to democracy.
AMLO demanded earlier this year that if the U.S. wanted help in combating the millions of illegal aliens entering through the southern border, the U.S. must give tens of billions of dollars per year to countries in Latin America, give work visas to 10 million illegal aliens in the U.S., lift sanctions on socialist Venezuela, and end the embargo of communist Cuba.
&#8220;Notice his demands. His demands are end the embargo against Cuba. And end the sanctions against Venezuela,&#8221; Cruz said on his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast.
&#8220;He&#8217;s standing with communist dictators in Cuba and Venezuela,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That&#8217;s who he aligns himself with is the hard-Left anti-American Communist axis through Latin America. That&#8217;s who AMLO is. So it&#8217;s not surprising. That&#8217;s who he&#8217;s always been.&#8221;
“Is he trying to extort America? Of course,&#8221; Cruz said before comparing AMLO&#8217;s remarks to the mob trying to shake down a business. &#8220;&#8216;Nice little bar you got here, shame if something happened to it. Boy, a fire would do real damage.’ He said, ‘Well, we&#8217;ll keep these migrants coming. Unless you pay us off. Just you know, a bag of cash each week would be good. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, or AMLO, claimed during an interview that aired on Sunday that he has ended corruption in Mexico and that the hundreds of political assassinations that are carried out every year in his country are not a threat to democracy.
AMLO made the claims during a &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; interview about the crisis on the U.S. southern border and about the Mexican drug cartels.
The left-wing news program noted that AMLO takes a &#8220;bare knuckle brawls with the press&#8221; which it said was in &#8220;sharp contrast to the softer approach he&#8217;s taken with the drug cartels.&#8221;
AMLO claimed that his &#8220;hugs not bullets&#8221; method for dealing with the cartels has worked out &#8220;very well,&#8221; even though violence remains high and the cartels have grown in size.
When asked about the more than 30,000 murders that happen in Mexico every year, AMLO claimed that the Mexican government prosecuted &#8220;all&#8221; of the cases, even though only around 5% are actually prosecuted.
AMLO deflected blame for the role his country has played in the fentanyl crisis in the United States since nearly all of the illicit fentanyl that ends up killing Americans is manufactured by cartels in Mexico.
&#8220;Fentanyl is produced in the United States, in Canada, and in Mexico,&#8221; he claimed, ignoring the fact that the illicit fentanyl used in street drugs comes from his country. &#8220;And the chemical precursors come from Asia. You know why we don&#8217;t have the drug consumption that you have in the United States? Because we have customs, traditions, and we don&#8217;t have the problem of the disintegration of the family.&#8221;
He also falsely claimed that drug consumption in Mexico was not a problem.
When asked if he has &#8220;completely&#8221; eliminated &#8220;corruption&#8221; in Mexico, AMLO claimed: &#8220;Yes, basically, because corruption in Mexico started from the top down.&#8221;
&#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; noted that independent organizations have found there has been &#8220;no improvement in the corruption problems that have plagued Mexico for decades&#8221; under AMLO.
When asked about the 355 government officials and political candidates who were murdered last year in his country, he downplayed the matter, saying there were only &#8220;some specific instances.&#8221;
He said that the assassinations posed no threat to democracy.

On Sunday night on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the president of Mexico, explained that Mexico is going to continue to give the United States the runaround, on everything from mass illegal immigration being facilitated by the drug cartels across America through the southern border, to the importation of literally tons of fentanyl, which is killing over 100,000 Americans every single year.
It&#8217;s very clear that Mexico has been giving the United States the runaround. Even a senior fellow at the Left-wing Brookings Institution  — who directs the Initiative on Nonstate Armed Actors and the Brookings series ”The Opioid Crisis in America: Domestic and International Dimensions” — <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/articles/china-mexico-and-americas-fight-against-the-fentanyl-epidemic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said last week</a>,  “Mexico eviscerated cooperation to a bare minimum because President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration has been unwilling and uninterested in mounting any serious law enforcement policy toward Mexican criminal groups.”
It&#8217;s important to understand that Mexico is run by the drug cartels that bring in all the revenue. They kill anyone who gets in their way. They control the entirety of the length of the southern border of the United States.
I have visited that border, and I can confirm they are flying Mexican drug cartel drones above American territory because they control the border.
According to that Brookings Institute representative, “Mexico continues to calculate that it can get away with only sporadic, minimal, and inadequate counternarcotics collaboration as long as it leverages its ability to hamper or permit the flow of undocumented migrants to the U.S.-Mexico border and as long as the United States depends on it for migration control.”

Obrador was asked if the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was wrong in saying that the drug cartels were mass-producing fentanyl and if the State Department was wrong in saying most of the fentanyl was coming out of Mexico.
He answered that the DEA and the State Department were, indeed, wrong, then added, “Or rather, they don’t have all the information because fentanyl is also produced in the United States. … Fentanyl is produced in the United States, in Canada, and in Mexico. And the chemical precursors come from Asia.”
He&#8217;s lying. The vast majority of fentanyl is being trafficked across America&#8217;s southern border. The cartels are in league with China, who is sending the precursor chemicals for fentanyl creation to Mexico.
They used to pour pure, uncut fentanyl into Mexico for it to then be trafficked across the southern American border. But the United States put a bit of pressure on China under the Trump administration, and the Chinese government decided they were going to send precursors instead. They would use a legal fiction that would send all the ingredients, process all of it in Mexico, and then press it into pill form. That pill form doesn&#8217;t always look like fentanyl pills; sometimes it looks like drugs such as Adderall, which is why you&#8217;re seeing people who are being poisoned by fentanyl.
Obrador was asked, “What would happen to the U.S. if they closed the border?”
“You would not be able to buy inexpensive cars if the border is closed,” he answered. “That is, you would have to pay $10,000, $15,000, more for a car. There are factories in Mexico and there are factories in the United States that are fundamental for all the consumers in the United States and all the consumers in Mexico.”
When he says the United States can&#8217;t shut the border, what he is referring to is the flow of cars across the border. That is not the same thing as the United States being unable to stop the illegal migration across the border.

Because Obrador said that in order for him to stop the illegal immigration wave across the southern border, he wants the United States to commit $20 billion a year to poor countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, to lift all sanctions on Venezuela (a communist regime), end the embargo on Cuba (another communist regime), and legalize anyone who&#8217;s an illegal immigrant living in the United States.
He&#8217;s now holding up — at point of fentanyl gun — the United States.
And Joe Biden is doing nothing about it.

AMLO claimed that the reason there was a dip in the number of illegal aliens entering the southern border between December and January was because of action that he took, which he threatened to reverse if his demands were not met.
&#8220;If they don&#8217;t do the things that you said need to be done, then what?&#8221; AMLO was asked.
&#8220;The flow of migrants … will continue,&#8221; he responded.
When asked if he viewed his actions as &#8220;diplomatic blackmail,&#8221; he responded: &#8220;I am speaking frankly. We have to say things as they are, and I always say what I feel. I always say what I think.&#8221;

America is battling a devastating <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-border-crisis-15-states-have-smaller-populations-than-total-illegal-southern-border-crossings-in-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invasion</a> at our border with Mexico, and Texas is <a href="https://www.theblaze.com/columns/opinion/the-hidden-costs-of-joe-bidens-border-crisis">on the front line</a> as it makes up roughly half of that border. Unfortunately for Texas and the nation, the federal government doesn’t appear all that interested in dealing with the crisis. In fact, they seem intent on facilitating it instead. To make matters worse, Mexico’s President has now taken it upon himself to make ridiculous <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mexican-president-demands-20-billion-work-permits-10-million-hispanics-exchange-immigration-help">demands</a> of our nation, exemplifying just how determined powerful government entities are to leverage this crisis for political and personal gain.
Last week, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador <a href="https://www.theblaze.com/news/mexican-president-demands-20-billion-and-work-permits-for-10-million-hispanics-before-offering-immigration-help">revealed</a> that if America wants his help stemming the flow of illegal immigrants crossing our border from Mexico, we would have to give $20 billion in taxpayer money to Latin American and Caribbean countries, grant 10 million work visas to Hispanics who have been working in the U.S. for at least 10 years, end American sanctions against socialist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-slam-biden-admin-for-suspending-sanctions-on-venezuelan-oil" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Venezuela</a>, and halt the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dems-urge-biden-to-loosen-sanctions-on-communist-cuba-socialist-venezuela-to-mitigate-border-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cuban blockade</a>.
How dare this man make any demands whatsoever of the United States of America. The correct response by America and Texas would be to stop all aid to Mexico and put pressure on Lopez Obrador by shutting down the PEMEX Deer Park refinery. Mexico’s lucrative partnership in this high-capacity refinery has economically benefited them for decades, and shutting it down would cripple Mexico’s oil supply, sending a very clear message. It wouldn’t take Mexico long to realize that it’s in their best interest to help us protect our nation so we can help them prosper in theirs.
But just as the Biden administration’s motivations in addressing the border crisis aren’t about American interests, Lopez Obrador’s motivations aren’t about Mexico’s interests, either. He is an ideological communist who caters to the cartels, to the detriment of the Mexican people. In addition, his single six-year term is coming to a close. So, when he demands $20 billion, could his plan be to pocket some of it and pay off the cartels on his way out? Does he intend to strongarm America into providing him a nice financial windfall for his retirement?
I believe in diplomacy through strength and, if necessary, by force. But the milquetoast Biden administration has a habit of capitulating to ridiculous demands, even if our own nation suffers, rather than using what leverage we have in our own national interest.
Lopez Obrador was only elected because the people thought he was the lesser of two evils. But he has shown his true colors, and he clearly doesn’t care about what is best for Mexico. The Mexican people don’t want illegals there, either. Just like Americans, they want their own interests to be prioritized over political agendas being exploited for power and gain by corrupt and self-serving government officials.
There are many people who are following the legal immigration process, as many have in the past, including my own legal immigrant parents. Why would we bend to and even reward those who are blatantly breaking our laws, and why would we capitulate to the outrageous demands of someone allowing, and perhaps even facilitating, that criminality?
America once maintained peace through strength in a world where everyone knew the powerful capabilities of our nation and dared not test them. Now, our enemies and our allies seem comfortable testing the limits to see just how much America will endure before we put our foot down in defense of our national interests. The numerous domestic and global failures by the Biden Administration have only emboldened them in their demands and aggression, confident that they will not face consequences.
The United States of America is stronger than that and we need leaders with the backbone to stand up for American interests. When America is strong, the world is safer. The Mexican people, including my family who live there, can’t wait to see the end of the Biden regime. If we are to secure our nation and protect the American way of life, we need representatives who recognize the reality of the illegal immigration crisis, who call it what it is, and who have the gumption to put a stop to it to protect America, her people, and her values. Otherwise, America will no longer be a land of freedom and prosperity for future generations of citizens, including industrious legal immigrants.

While answering questions during a press conference on Monday, 70-year-old Lopez Obrador was asked about an interaction he had with Salma Luevano at a public event when the president kissed Luevano on the cheek.
“I also kiss men,” the Mexican president said before referring to Luevano as “a man dressed as a woman,” Spanish newspaper El País <a href="https://elpais.com/mexico/2024-01-09/lopez-obrador-pide-disculpas-por-llamar-senor-vestido-de-mujer-a-la-diputada-trans-salma-luevano.html">reported</a>.
Lopez Obrador apologized Tuesday for referring to the trans-identifying lawmaker as a man.
&#8220;I want to&#8230; offer an apology to a colleague who identifies as a woman,&#8221; said Lopez Obrador, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/mexico-president-apologizes-calling-trans-lawmaker-man-dressed-woman-2024-01-09/">according</a> to Reuters.
“Today the president @lopezobrador_ offered me an apology for making a bad generalization. This declaration is very important, because it makes visible a fight that has taken us decades,” Luevano wrote on X. &#8220;I am a woman … and that is not up for discussion. Now to wait for the president to receive me.”

Lopez Obrador was criticized before he was sworn into office in 2018 for kissing a female reporter on the cheek after she asked him a question, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/general-news-international-news-1b30a596a0434a30b746e6bc9c166950" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The reporter, Lorena Garcia, said the kiss was &#8220;inappropriate&#8221; since she was in a professional setting trying to do her job.
Luevano, 55, was elected to the Mexican legislature in 2021, one of two trans-identifying men <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/mexican-trans-lawmaker-has-big-plans-combat-lgbtq-discrimination-2021-06-30/">who won seats</a> in that election. In 2022, Luevano accused Gabriel Quadri, a member of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, of threatening him with political violence after Quadri referred to Luevano as “sir” and said that “trans women are men who pretend to be women,” according to El País.

A migrant caravan of nearly 8,000 people is marching toward the U.S. southern border as Secretary of State <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/antony-blinken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Antony Blinken</a> and Homeland Security Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alejandro-mayorkas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alejandro Mayorkas</a> are set to meet with Mexican President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andres-manuel-lopez-obrador" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andrés Manuel López Obrador</a> in Mexico City on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing border crisis.
The migrant caravan is made up of people from an estimated 24 different countries and began its trek toward the U.S. border on Saturday, marching through the Mexican state of Chiapas — on the border of Guatemala — as of Wednesday, NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/migrant-caravan-heads-us-southern-border-ahead-blinkens-trip-mexico-rcna131192">reported</a>. Most of the migrants in the caravan are from Central America, Cuba, Venezuela, and Haiti, but according to Luis García Villagrán, who helped organize the caravan, some of the migrants are from Iran, Turkey, Syria, and Cameroon. Villagrán also projected that the caravan could grow up to 15,000 people by the time it reaches the U.S.-Mexico border, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/12/26/news/migrant-caravan-heading-to-us-mexico-border-is-largest-in-more-than-a-year/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Mexico has often allowed such caravans to travel through its country to the U.S. border, and López Obrador said last month that U.S. officials were asking him to do more to stop the caravan at Mexico’s border with Guatemala. The Mexican president, however, wants the U.S. to send more aid to Latin American countries and slash sanctions against the communist governments of Cuba and Venezuela.
“We are going to help, as we always do,” López Obrador <a href="https://apnews.com/article/mexico-us-immigration-meeting-blinken-f39247c4848cb7cf1097fcbaa84edcbd">said</a>. “Mexico is helping reach agreements with other countries, in this case Venezuela.”
Shortly before meeting with Blinken and Mayorkas, López Obrador called on the U.S. to give more support to Latin American countries instead of “building walls,” adding that the illegal immigration issue is only “going to intensify,” <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/27/us/politics/blinken-mexico-migrant-caravan.html">according</a> to The New York Times. During the meeting, Blinken &#8220;will discuss unprecedented irregular migration in the Western Hemisphere and identify ways Mexico and the United States will address border security challenges, including actions to enable the reopening of key ports of entry across our shared border,&#8221; the State Department <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/blinken-mayorkas-mexico-migrant-crisis/">said</a>.
The Biden administration officials’ meeting with López Obrador comes amid a record surge of illegal border crossings as President Joe Biden faces continued calls to take action on the crisis. In November, a record 242,418 migrants were encountered attempting to illegally enter the U.S., <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/record-set-for-southern-border-encounters-in-one-month-as-nearly-250000-cross-into-u-s">according</a> to Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). Authorities also saw record-setting days for illegal border crossings earlier this month with more than 10,000 migrants illegally entering the U.S. on multiple days.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mexico" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mexico&#8217;s</a> leftist president said late this week that the Biden administration told him that they do not want to a build a border wall in between the U.S. and Mexico and that news reports this week that the administration was resuming construction of the wall in Texas was about publicity.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alejandro-mayorkas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alejandro Mayorkas</a> announced on the U.S. Federal Register this week that the situation on the southern border makes it “necessary to waive certain laws, regulations, and other legal requirements” in order to ensure the expeditious construction of “physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States.”
The announcement named multiple areas within the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector that are areas of “high illegal entry” that the administration has designated as “project areas.”
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/10/06/andres-manuel-lopez-obrador-us-does-not-want-to-build-border-wall/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> at a press conference that the announcement was “pure publicity,” which came as top U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, visited Mexico on Thursday.
AMLO <a href="https://mexiconewsdaily.com/politics/amlo-calls-plan-to-expand-border-wall-a-backward-step/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blamed</a> &#8220;far right political groups in the United States&#8221; for making illegal immigration a top political issue in the U.S., and blamed Republicans for “acting very irresponsibly.”
&#8220;This authorization for the construction of the wall is a step backward,&#8221; he claimed. &#8220;It doesn’t solve the problem. It doesn’t solve the problem. We have to address the causes.&#8221;
Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-on-his-admin-waiving-laws-to-build-border-wall-i-cant-stop-that" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> to the news that the administration was going to be building sections of border wall in South Texas by saying that there was nothing he could do to stop it.
“On the border wall, the border wall when money was appropriated for the border wall, I tried to get them to reappropriate, to redirect that money,” Biden said. “They didn’t, they wouldn’t. And in the meantime, there’s nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for whatever it’s appropriated. I can’t stop that.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis leveled Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) in a statement this week after AMLO criticized the governor for his strong anti-illegal immigration policies.
AMLO made the remarks on Monday about legislation that DeSantis later signed into law on Wednesday that The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/10/us/florida-desantis-immigration.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last month was “the toughest crackdown” on illegal immigration by any state in the U.S.
&#8220;Why does [DeSantis] have to take advantage of people’s pain, of migrants’ pain, of people’s need for political gain?&#8221; AMLO said during a press conference. “This is immoral. This is politicking.”
&#8220;Now I found out that the Florida governor — imagine, Florida, which is full of migrants — is taking repressive, inhumane measures against migrants in Florida because he wants to be a candidate,&#8221; AMLO added. &#8220;Can’t he not make another proposal to convince people?&#8221;
The remarks come as the U.S.-Mexico border is set to be overrun on Thursday by tens of thousands of illegal aliens this week when Title 42 officially ends. Towns in border states have faced overwhelming numbers of illegal aliens for nearly the entire time that President Joe Biden has been in the White House, but in recent weeks these areas have seen a surge to levels that some officials have described as the worst they&#8217;ve ever seen.
DeSantis responded to AMLO&#8217;s remarks in a statement that slammed the leftist president for the rampant organized crime in his country that is fueling the illegal immigration and drug crises in the U.S.
“President López Obrador should be cracking down on the cartels running his country and fueling our deadly opioid epidemic instead of worrying about what we are doing in Florida,&#8221; DeSantis said. &#8220;While President Biden may take his cues from leftist foreign leaders, Floridians won’t let their immigration laws be dictated by Mexico City.&#8221;

According to the governor&#8217;s office, the new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-signs-strongest-anti-illegal-immigration-bills-into-law-as-biden-border-crisis-worsens" target="_blank" rel="noopener">illegal immigration crackdown</a> that DeSantis signed into law this week:

<li>Requires employers to use E-Verify to check the employment eligibility of employees, and fines employers who fail to use E-Verify $1,000 per day.</li>
<li>Suspends licenses of any employer who knowingly employs illegal aliens, and makes using a fake ID to gain employment a felony.</li>
<li>Enhances penalties for human smuggling, including making knowingly transporting five or more illegal aliens or a single illegal alien minor a second-degree felony subject to a $10,000 fine and up to 15 years in prison.</li>
<li>Provides $12 million to continue the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program to relocate illegal immigrants to sanctuary jurisdictions.</li>
<li>Bans local governments and NGOs from issuing identification documents to illegal aliens and invalidates all out-of-state driver licenses issued exclusively to illegal aliens.</li>
<li>Requires hospitals to collect and report healthcare costs for illegal aliens.</li>
</ul>
“The Biden Border Crisis has wreaked havoc across the United States and has put Americans in danger,” DeSantis said in a statement at the signing. “In Florida, we will not stand idly by while the federal government abandons its lawful duties to protect our country.”
“The legislation I signed today gives Florida the most ambitious anti-illegal immigration laws in the country, fighting back against reckless federal government policies and ensuring the Florida taxpayers are not footing the bill for illegal immigration,” he added.

Mexican President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andres-manuel-lopez-obrador" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador</a> accused the Pentagon of spying on Mexico&#8217;s government, vowing to safeguard classified military information to protect its national security after a spate of documents leaked in U.S. media.
During his daily press briefing on Tuesday, Obrador said the Pentagon targeted Mexico several days after the leaked information exposed alleged tensions between Mexico&#8217;s Navy and the Army, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/04/15/leak-mexico-intel-documents/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a>.
&#8220;We are going to take care of the information from Semar and Sedena because we are being spied on by the Pentagon, and many media outlets are leaking information that the [Drug Enforcement Agency] gives them,&#8221; Obrador <a href="https://twitter.com/UnnimediosQro/status/1648376047111487495" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> without providing evidence.
Obrador added, according to Bloomberg, that Mexico would guard information &#8220;for security because we feel that they are trying to violate our sovereignty in an interventionist plan.&#8221;
Pentagon officials have not immediately responded to Obrador&#8217;s comments.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said over the weekend that dozens of leaks of classified intelligence documents from the Pentagon had not affected U.S. cooperation with allies.
The Pentagon leaks have set off a series of foreign policy controversies that the Biden administration is attempting to tamp down, from accusations of U.S. spying on allied nations to concerns among allies about the security of intelligence shared with the U.S.
Blinken and other Biden administration diplomats have attempted to reassure allies about the security of U.S. intelligence despite hundreds of pages of leaked intelligence.

Obrador said on Monday that the U.S. intelligence in the leaks was an &#8220;abusive, overbearing intrusion that should not be accepted under any circumstance,&#8221; adding that he did not plan to rebuke the U.S., but would at some point discuss &#8220;conditions for collaborative work,&#8221; Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/mexican-president-accuses-pentagon-spying-vows-restrict-military-information-2023-04-18/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The FBI arrested 21-year-old Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guard member, on Thursday and charged him with violating the Espionage Act for posting dozens of transcriptions and photos of classified documents to a private Discord server. Many of the documents later circulated freely online after a member of the Discord group posted them publicly.
U.S. allies have reportedly expressed concern over the security of U.S. intelligence before and after it was revealed that the leaks allegedly came from Teixeira, a junior IT worker in the Air National Guard. Teixeira was granted top-secret security clearance to aid his unit in sharing intelligence for combat support and homeland security.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has written to officials in China requesting Beijing’s help in stemming the flow of fentanyl into Mexico.
Lopez Obrador said at a news conference that he had written the Chinese after U.S. officials encouraged him to reach out to Beijing in a recent visit. The Mexican president also struck out at the U.S., according to the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/mexico-fentanyl-lopez-obrador-china-694a4b5c0ed67d5c9ac828ef956416bb" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a>.
He complained about the U.S. in his letter and the “rude threats” coming from U.S. officials to classify Mexican drug cartels as terror groups.
“We come to you, President Xi Jinping, not to ask for your support in the face of these rude threats, but to request that for humanitarian reasons, you help us control shipments of fentanyl that can be sent from China to our country,” Lopez Obrador said, quoting from his letter to the Chinese.
“Unjustly, they are blaming us for problems that in large measure have to do with their loss of values, their welfare crisis,” he wrote. “These positions are in themselves a lack of respect and a threat to our sovereignty, and moreover they are based on an absurd, manipulative, propagandistic and demagogic attitude.”
In past remarks, Lopez Obrador was insistent that no fentanyl ripping through U.S. communities is produced in Mexico. Last month, Lopez Obrador <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mexicos-president-blames-american-families-for-fentanyl-crisis-lack-of-love-hugs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blamed</a> the U.S. drug problem on a “lack of hugs.”
“There is a lot of disintegration of families, there is a lot of individualism, there is a lack of love, of brotherhood, of hugs and embraces,” López Obrador said. “That is why they (U.S. officials) should be dedicating funds to address the causes.”
Millions of dollars-worth of pills laced with fentanyl are trafficked into the U.S. from Mexico each year, according to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Much of that comes from drug labs run by two of Mexico’s most violent and influential cartels, the Sinaloa and the New Generation Jalisco.
Although the cartels run the drug trade across the border, most of the fentanyl that run through cartel labs <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2023/03/23/how-fentanyl-journeys-from-china-to-mexico-to-north-texas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comes</a> from China. Chinese drug companies ship massive amounts of fentanyl precursor drugs to cartels in Mexico where the cartels press the drug into pills that mimic the look of medication. For example, the pills are often dyed blue and made to look like oxycontin.
Many overdose deaths from fentanyl in the U.S. happen to people who are not even aware that they are taking fentanyl-laced pills.
The United States and Mexico are <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/fentanyl-gun-smuggling-us-mexico-border-deal-rcna75782" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> nearing a deal to crack down on drugs flowing north across the border. In return, U.S. law enforcement will crack down on guns flowing south.
