Alan Greenspan, the influential economist and former chairman of the Federal Reserve, died on Monday. He was 100 years old.
Greenspan&#8217;s wife, NBC News anchor Andrea Mitchell, said the former Fed chairman died at home from complications related to Parkinson’s disease.
&#8220;He was a giant of a man who helped shape the U.S. economy for decades under presidents of both parties, but was always honest in acknowledging his mistakes,&#8221; Mitchell said.
“To me, he was my husband, who shaped my life from our very first date in 1984. He had ‘irrational exuberance’ for baseball, the Washington Commanders, tennis, golf and music, especially jazz,” Mitchell added. “He will be remembered for his brilliance and his kindness. Being his life partner was the joy of my life.”
Greenspan, who was appointed by former President Ronald Reagan as the 13th chairman of the Federal Reserve, led the Central Bank for nearly 19 years, serving under presidents from Reagan through George W. Bush. His tenure was the second-longest in the institution’s history, surpassed only by William McChesney Martin, who led the Fed from 1951 to 1970.
Greenspan is credited with steering the United States’s monetary policy from the end of the Cold War to the start of the digital age. His tenure saw “Black Monday,” when the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 22%, the burst of the dot-com bubble, and 9/11. 
After leaving the Federal Reserve, Greenspan was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation&#8217;s highest civilian honor, by President George W. Bush.
Greenspan began his career on Wall Street as an equity research analyst at the investment bank Brown Brothers Harriman. He <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/obituaries/alan-greenspan-economist-longtime-head-federal-reserve-dies-100-rcna42286">served</a> as an informal domestic policy coordinator for Richard Nixon’s 1968 presidential campaign and officially entered public service under President Gerald Ford, as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from 1974 to 1977.
Reagan appointed Greenspan as Fed chairman in 1987. Greenspan developed a reputation for holding interest rates steady, particularly during periods of rapid technological innovation such as the age of the computer. He argued that a more accommodative monetary policy could help sustain economic growth and support productivity gains driven by technological advancement.
The Fed’s newest chairman, Kevin Warsh, <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/policy/article/new-fed-chair-kevin-warsh-suggests-he-may-take-an-alan-greenspan-style-approach-at-the-central-bank-135046787.html">implied</a> he might take a similar approach with the onset of artificial intelligence. “Like Alan, I intend to fill the role of chairman with energy and purpose, just the way Chairman Greenspan did.” 
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who gets breakfast with Warsh every Friday morning, <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/policy/article/new-fed-chair-kevin-warsh-suggests-he-may-take-an-alan-greenspan-style-approach-at-the-central-bank-135046787.html">said</a> earlier this year that, “The Fed needs to have merely an open mind. The open-minded maestro, former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan, resisted premature rate hikes during the technology boom of the 1990s — and history proved him right.” 
The Federal Reserve remembered his legacy in a statement early Monday morning. 
“The Federal Reserve notes with deep sadness the passing of Alan Greenspan. Chairman Greenspan served as the 13th Chairman of the Board of Governors from 1987 to 2006, and his contributions to monetary policy and economic thought left a lasting mark on this institution, on the broader field of economics, and on the country.” 
Former Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke, who succeeded Greenspan, also paid tribute to Greenspan. 
“He was a great central banker who helped lead his country through almost two decades of prosperity,” Bernanke said. “I always found him generous with his time and insights. We are still learning from him, even if he is no longer with us.”

&#8220;A formal lab has confirmed the suspicion that that white powdery substance found in the West Wing on Sunday was, in fact, positive for cocaine,&#8221; Mitchell began, noting that the initial discovery of the substance had led to a brief lockdown and evacuation of the White House over the weekend.
&#8220;Joining us now is NBC White House correspondent Mike Memoli. So, Mike, where do things stand now?&#8221; she asked. &#8220;This is so unusual. You and I have covered the White House for years. I can’t even fathom anything like this having been found before in the West Wing. And I go back to the &#8217;70s at the White House! So this is pretty, pretty wild!&#8221;
&#8220;It’s absolutely extraordinary, Andrea!&#8221; Memoli agreed, almost immediately pivoting to suggest that the source of the cocaine likely came from outside the White House. &#8220;So to recap on the developments that we’ve been reporting on yesterday, this was found, we understand, in a highly-trafficked common area of the West Wing. It’s an area where individuals, especially visitors, individuals who may be coming for, for instance, say private tour, might have been asked to leave some of their personal belongings before heading into more sensitive areas of the West Wing.&#8221;
Memoli went on to say that the coming days would likely see an investigation into where the substance had come from — including a thorough review of all security cameras and visitor logs over the last several days.

&#8220;This happened on Sunday night. This was a weekend in which the president, the first lady and his son, Hunter, and his family were at Camp David, not in the White House. So the number of staff in the building would have been significantly reduced,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;But it was a holiday weekend when many staff might have had friends and family coming to visit and might have wanted to give them tours.&#8221;

Mitchell pointed to reports saying that the alleged attacker, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/suspect-who-allegedly-attacked-paul-pelosi-with-hammer-is-identified-former-castro-nudist-protester" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identified</a> by authorities as Berkeley resident <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/breaking-nancy-pelosis-husband-violently-assaulted-hospitalized-after-break-in-at-california-home/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David DePape</a>, had been looking for the House Speaker and asking, &#8220;Where is Nancy?&#8221; — just like some of the rioters had asked as they walked through the halls of the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.

&#8220;The assailant who attacked Paul Pelosi was in search of the Speaker of the House,&#8221; Mitchell began. &#8220;Which puts it into a federal crime, you know, against the relative of an officer and now the second in line for the presidency.&#8221;
&#8220;Before the assault occurred, according to the source, the intruder confronted Mr. Pelosi in their home, shouting, &#8216;Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?’” Mitchell continued, before observing, &#8220;That&#8217;s what the intruders going through hallways on Jan. 6 were shouting: &#8216;Nancy, Nancy,&#8217; this is part of the January 6th insurrection toxicity that has infected the brains of people around the country in horrible ways, if this is accurate.&#8221;
Despite Mitchell&#8217;s claims, local officials have made it a point to state that the motive for the attack has not yet been determined.

Even Drew Hammill, spokesperson for Speaker Pelosi, said in his initial statement that no one had yet determined the alleged attacker&#8217;s motive: &#8220;The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation.&#8221;
Still, Mitchell was not the only one leaping to such conclusions. Attorney Tristan Snell claimed, &#8220;January 6 isn&#8217;t over. They tried to kill Pelosi that day, and she&#8217;s still in danger. This won&#8217;t end until every single person involved is brought to justice. Every. Single. One.&#8221;

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that she had spoken with people who believed Russian President Vladimir Putin was suffering from some physical ailment like cancer or &#8220;brain fog&#8221; as the result of COVID-19.
Pelosi spoke with MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell ahead of President Joe Biden&#8217;s first official State of the Union Address, and she was asked to weigh in on whether something deeper was behind Russia&#8217;s <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/12-russian-diplomats-ordered-to-leave-u-s-for-engaging-in-espionage/">full-scale invasion</a> of Ukraine.

The White House has also openly questioned Putin&#8217;s mental state, according to a Tuesday <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/international/596269-worries-grow-over-putins-stability-mindset">report</a> from The Hill:

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/wish-i-could-share-more-intelligence-committees-marco-rubio-warns-something-is-off-with-putin/">has also hinted</a> that there might be more than meets the eye with regard to <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/andrea-mitchell-reports/watch/sen-marco-rubio-putin-would-prefer-not-to-escalate-to-the-point-of-nuclear-war-134327877831">Putin&#8217;s stability</a> — and he said it was starting to become visible in recent videos that showed the Russian president outwardly showing anger and frustration.
&#8220;The one thing Vladimir Putin has always valued is emotional control, is the ability to never flash any emotion, and to watch a video of him the other night and those flashes of anger, that’s very uncharacteristic,&#8221; Rubio said Monday, adding, &#8220;We have to understand that whatever we think he might have done, or assumed he would do in response to actions 10 or 15 years ago, is not what he might do today, and that’s an important thing to take into account. This is a very dangerous moment, in my opinion, because of that.&#8221;
Former Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul said his concern was that Putin had spent many years effectively consuming his own propaganda.
&#8220;I&#8217;m nervous that Mr. Putin has been believing his propaganda for decades,&#8221; McFaul told NBC News on Sunday. &#8220;I sat in the room with him for five years when I worked in the Obama administration. I speak Russian. I listened to him and I know what he says, he&#8217;s increasingly unhinged.&#8221;

NBC News anchor Andrea Mitchell and Democratic Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) experienced a tense moment at the newly established &#8220;Black House Autonomous Zone&#8221; in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday that left one of them asking, &#8220;Where&#8217;s the police when you need them?&#8221;
In a video posted by Daily Caller Senior Congressional Correspondent Henry Rodgers on Tuesday, Mitchell, NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent and host of &#8220;Andrew Mitchell Reports,&#8221; and Norton appear to be in the middle of an interview at the &#8220;autonomous zone&#8221; that radical protesters have attempted to establish this week in front of St. John’s Church in D.C., in the mode of Seattle&#8217;s embattled &#8220;Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.&#8221; 
Suddenly, a scantily clad protester carrying a pink megaphone runs at the two women, grabbing the congresswoman before a security guard in a black mask and hat is able to pull the protester away.
The security guard grapples briefly with the protester as another security guard joins him to help keep the protester away from Mitchell and Norton.
As the protester is being pulled away, the Democratic congresswoman asks, &#8220;Where&#8217;s the police when you need them?&#8221;
After things calm down somewhat, the protester, in only pink panties, a small top and pink hose, stands at a distance before walking away at the direction of security.

President Trump addressed the attempt by protesters to imitate Seattle&#8217;s &#8220;CHAZ&#8221; in D.C. on Tuesday, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/twitter-censors-trump-for-promising-serious-force-against-potential-dc-autonomous-zone">tweeting</a>, &#8220;There will never be an &#8216;Autonomous Zone&#8217; in Washington, D.C., as long as I’m your President. If they try they will be met with serious force!&#8221;
Keeping in line with its new policy on censoring the President of the United States, Twitter flagged Trump&#8217;s tweet as having &#8220;violated the Twitter Rules about abusive behavior.&#8221;
&#8220;This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about abusive behavior,&#8221; the notice reads. &#8220;However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.&#8221; While the tweet is visible if clicked on directly, the platform has disabled users’ ability to interact with the post.
As for BHAZ&#8217;s inspiration, Seattle&#8217;s CHAZ is finally being broken up after weeks of being allowed to &#8220;occupy&#8221; the city following a series of shootings. After not only tolerating but actually promoting the &#8220;autonomous zone&#8221; in her city, Democratic Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan finally called for its end on Monday.
“After days of peaceful demonstrations, two nights of shootings have clearly escalated the situation on Capitol Hill,” the mayor&#8217;s office said in a statement Monday. “We have been meeting with residents and small business owners to address their safety and disorder concerns, including the ability of first responders to access emergencies in the area.”

The media over the past few years has reported a false narrative that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia during his 2016 campaign to steal the election.
That narrative was proven false after a lengthy special counsel investigation found no evidence of such collusion. Media outlets and their Democrat supporters refused to acknowledge that they got the story wrong or that they were biased in their reporting. They are continuing that behavior now that the Department of Justice dropped its charges against former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn.
FBI agents, in handwritten notes, questioned what the goal was of their January 24, 2017 interview with Flynn, writing: “What is our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?”
Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe (fired for lying to the FBI) would later say the interview with Flynn was “very odd” because “it seemed like [Flynn] was telling the truth.”
But even though Flynn appears to have been vindicated and the victim of FBI entrapment, MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell had a different take: That Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind the DOJ’s charges being dropped.
Seriously.
As Newsbusters <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/alex-christy/2020/05/09/msnbc-claims-putin-why-doj-dropped-flynn-case">reported</a>, Mitchell was interviewing former FBI Assistant Director for Counterintelligence and current MSNBC contributor Frank Figliuzzi about the charges against Flynn being dropped. Mitchell said the decision to drop the charges was “stunning” and “unprecedented,” even though the documents showing the FBI interviewed Flynn with the goal of getting him fired were released weeks earlier. Mitchell then connected the dropped charges to President Donald Trump’s phone call with Putin on Thursday, the day the charges were dropped.
&#8220;Frank, first, all of the implications here, and the fact that he then called Vladimir Putin yesterday, and according to the White House announcement of this and description of it, there was no mention of the Russia probe and the election probe. But the president himself discussed that with Vladimir Putin, and the facts that in his view now that the Russian hoax was dispelled, they could get back to business,&#8221; Mitchell said, according to Newsbusters.
Figliuzzi was all too happy to agree that Putin was behind the DOJ’s decision.
&#8220;Yeah, I think they&#8217;re actually linked. The dismissal of charges against Flynn and conversation by the president with Vladimir Putin, stone cold adversary of the United States on the very same day, that&#8217;s not a coincidence,&#8221; Figliuzzi said.
The contributor went on to claim that the investigation into Flynn was important for national security.
“The Flynn interview that is at issue here by the FBI was all about resolving the question of whether Mike Flynn was a counterintelligence threat to the nation as he entered into the national security adviser role. It was about figuring out how to neutralize, resolve and counter that threat. So when the president gets on the phone with Vladimir Putin and the topic comes up in the same conversation, the concerns have not yet been resolved,&#8221; he said.
Documents revealed the FBI had no basis to interview or investigate Flynn. Further, Trump’s phone call with Putin occurred the same day the charges were dropped, yet U.S. Attorney Jeff Jensen recommended those charges be dropped a week earlier.

The day that was supposed to be the official beginning of the end for President Donald J. Trump has actually turned out to be the day the media officially realized they&#8217;ve failed to convince the American people to dump him, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh declared on his radio program Wednesday.
&#8220;The Drive-By Media today wanted this to be a grave day — very grave, historic and solemn,&#8221; <a href="https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2019/12/18/the-drive-bys-know-theyve-failed/">said</a> Limbaugh. &#8220;They wanted people to stop what they were doing and to get very, very serious and solemn, and to understand how desperately needed and important it is to get Donald Trump thrown out of office so as to save the world. But they haven’t pulled it off&#8230; They wanted to be the equivalent of the father-confessor. But they know it’s BS. They know it’s all politics. They know it’s not grave. They know it’s not solemn. They know that you have not fallen into line.&#8221;
For evidence that the media knows they&#8217;ve failed on their impeachment agenda, Rush turned to NBC News &#8220;Meet the Press&#8221; host Chuck Todd talking with Lester Holt as the impeachment debate was about to kick off Wednesday morning.
&#8220;Pause for this moment in time, if you will. Impeachment. It’s a stain, it’s a mark of shame, something that will be noted in history,&#8221; said Holt, trying his best to insert some drama into the anticlimactic impeachment vote. But Todd just couldn&#8217;t go there, admitting that this feels more like covering a &#8220;government shutdown&#8221; than a &#8220;historic&#8221; impeachment:
<blockquote>TODD: I was struck both just last night and this morning how unremarkable today has suddenly felt — suddenly feels. And I say that because it is remarkable what’s happening, it is historic what’s happening, and yet it feels like… Let’s be honest, Lester. It feels like we’re coming on the air dealing with a government shutdown threat, not impeachment. And the reason I say it that way is because that is how numb I think our politics is to what we’re facing. I mean, this should be a moment where the whole country is basically having their own gut check, where we are having a national conversation trying to figure this out. The fact that we’re not having it just tells you how numb we are to the politics that we participate in.</blockquote>
&#8220;No, Chuck. No,&#8221; said Limbaugh. &#8220;It’s a testament to how ineffective your coup has been.&#8221;
What Todd is feeling, Limbaugh suggested, is the reality of the emptiness of the Democrats&#8217; impeachment articles and the growing lack of support for their partisan campaign among the American people.
&#8220;We told you yesterday CNN has an impeachment poll in which the support for impeachment fell among Democrats from 90% to 77%,&#8221; said Limbaugh. &#8220;Democrat support for impeachment in the CNN poll fell from 90% to 77%. In addition, CNN’s latest poll found that support for impeachment overall was down 9% since the hearings in the Schiff basement hearing room began.&#8221;
Then there&#8217;s Trump&#8217;s approval number, which has &#8220;either held steady or in many polls it has gone up,&#8221; a development that has left the media &#8220;wringing their hands,&#8221; said Limbaugh.
&#8220;The reason it was causing hand wringing is they haven’t moved it,&#8221; Rush explained. &#8220;They haven’t moved Trump’s number down. Look, they were able to get George W. Bush down to the 30’s. Now, it took ’em about six years. It didn’t happen overnight. You know, George W. Bush was in the 50’s after 9/11 and then the high 40’s and the mid-40’s and low-40’s and finally in the 30’s. It took a little time and it was a long trend line. They haven’t even been able to create the downward trend line for Trump. And they’ve thrown everything they’ve got at him, every allegation — treason, stealing an election, colluding with a foreign&#8230;&#8221;
Rush then brought the discussion back to NBC&#8217;s coverage. &#8220;Chuck Todd’s worried that this isn’t remarkable,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think the American people are fully aware of how outrageously remarkable their charges have been, and the American people are very clear on the fact they haven’t seen any evidence for any of it, starting with the Mueller report, but even before that. There’s no evidence for anything. These charges are so outrageous and over the top, I don’t think anybody really believed them to begin with in a serious majority sense.&#8221;
In the end, this is a glaring example of &#8220;classic overreach, done by people who keep failing.&#8221;
The only people who are convinced by the Democrats and their allies in the media, Limbaugh argued, is the diehard Democrat base; everyone else sees that the media has just gotten &#8220;ridiculous&#8221; in their hyperbolic claims about Trump. &#8220;Remember the objective has not been the Democrat base,&#8221; said Limbaugh, returning to a theme that he&#8217;s hit repeatedly in recent weeks. &#8220;The objective has been to separate Trump voters from Trump.&#8221;
After playing a clip of Andrea Mitchell heaping praise on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, portraying her as supposedly being willing to allow the Democrats to &#8220;lose control of the House&#8221; because impeaching Trump is so necessary, Limbaugh argued that what&#8217;s really going on here is the media coming to grips with the &#8220;shocking reality&#8221; that they&#8217;ve gone &#8220;too far&#8221; — and the American public isn&#8217;t with them.
&#8220;That’s the shocking reality, and they’re too far in, they’re too deep, they can’t recall it, they can’t call it back,&#8221; he said. &#8220;When Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington, says at the very end of the bite they could lose control of the House, it means they know they have failed. Their dream was to do this and bring millions and millions of Americans along and they wanted accolades and they wanted appreciation, they wanted support, they wanted people thanking them for saving America from this ogre, Donald Trump, and they wanted to be swept into landslide victory after landslide victory next November. They know that isn’t gonna happen.&#8221;

On Tuesday, MSNBC aired one of the <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/05/29/tone-deaf-msnbc-slammed-for-bringing-on-joy-reid-to-discuss-roseanne-barrs-social-media-slur.html">most tone-deaf</a> segments in cable news history as host Andrea Mitchell, in response to a racist tweet from Roseanne Barr, asked embattled MSNBC host Joy Reid what someone had to do on social media to get fired from a television network.
&#8220;What do you have to do on social media to get fired from a top-rated show on an American broadcast network?&#8221; Mitchell asked Reid.
Reid responded by not really answering the question as she shifted to cast blame on President Donald Trump for Barr&#8217;s tweets.
Reid came under intense scrutiny last month after blog posts and tweets she previously wrote were uncovered; she had made racist, bigoted, homophobic, and Islamophobic remarks in addition to attacking conservative women with disgusting sexual comments.
Reid then concocted a bogus conspiracy theory and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/29881/report-joy-reid-hired-man-who-bragged-about-ryan-saavedra">hired</a> a neo-Nazi linked cyber expert to help her prove that she was hacked and that she didn&#8217;t write the posts.
Her claims were proven illusory, so she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/29997/watch-joy-reid-admits-hacking-claims-not-true-ryan-saavedra">claimed</a>: &#8220;I genuinely do not believe I wrote those hateful things because they are completely alien to me, but I can definitely understand based on things I have tweeted and I have written in the past why some people don&#8217;t believe me.&#8221;

&#8220;President Trump lashed out at undocumented immigrants during a White House meeting on Wednesday, warning in front of news cameras that dangerous people were clamoring to breach the country&#8217;s borders and branding such people &#8216;animals,'&#8221; said the article&#8217;s lead.
MSNBC celebrity &#8220;journalist&#8221; Andrea Mitchell parroted the same thing, saying Trump &#8220;calls people trying to get into the country &#8216;animals&#8217; not people.&#8221;

But The Hill, an inside-the-Beltway publication for people interested in politics, added a couple words to its headline, words that completely changed the entire meaning: &#8220;Trump on immigrant gang members: &#8216;These aren&#8217;t people,&#8217; they&#8217;re &#8216;animals&#8217;.&#8221;
Oh, wait, gang members are animals? No, not &#8220;some unauthorized immigrants&#8221; (by the way, what&#8217;s an &#8220;unauthorized immigrant&#8221;? You&#8217;ve either gone through the immigration process, or you sneaked across the border, which makes you an illegal alien).
That&#8217;s right, Trump was talking about &#8212; and only about &#8212; members of a dangerous and deadly gang known as MS-13.
And to show you just how far the media will go to misrepresent what the president said, here is the transcript for the entire section in which Trump discusses &#8220;animals,&#8221; after Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims explains to Trump during a roundtable at the White House just what her department is up against (with key parts bolded):

THE PRESIDENT: Okay, Margaret?
SHERIFF MIMS: Thank you, Mr. President. You know, sheriffs in California are now in an untenable position when it comes to trying to figure out &#8212; now, we have state law, we have federal laws, and here we are stuck in the middle. Sheriffs, especially, because most of us run our county jails.
When there became a legal challenge to the 48-hour holds for ICE, it was very frustrating for us. So what I did is I invited ICE to put their officers in my jails so they&#8217;re able to do their work. We didn&#8217;t have the staffing to be able to help figure out who they wanted to talk to or didn&#8217;t. I said, come on in, work with our people to keep our community safe. Two weeks later, Mr. President, Kate Steinle was murdered.
Now, I wasn&#8217;t the only sheriff to do that. Sheriff Youngblood did, Sheriff Christianson. And it was perfect &#8212; because we didn&#8217;t have to take our time, with our staff, to do anything. ICE was in there doing their work in a safe, controlled, environment. And then, the initiatives started happening &#8212; the TRUST Act, the TRUTH Act, and finally, SB 54, the Values Act. And that is causing us all kinds of turmoil.
So here we are, stuck in the middle, trying to decide. We have federal law, we have state law. And that&#8217;s why I welcomed Attorney General Sessions&#8217;s lawsuit, because that will provide us the clarity that we need and direction that we need. What do we do? Because here we are.
And I appreciated Mr. Homan and ICE. We had a great relationship; we still do. But now ICE is the only law enforcement agency that cannot use our databases to find the bad guys. They cannot come in and talk to people in our jail, unless they reach a certain threshold. They can&#8217;t do all kinds of things that other law enforcement agencies can do. And it&#8217;s really put us in a very bad position.
THE PRESIDENT: It&#8217;s a disgrace. Okay? It&#8217;s a disgrace.
SHERIFF MIMS: It&#8217;s a disgrace.
THE PRESIDENT: And we&#8217;re suing on that, and we&#8217;re working hard, and I think it will all come together, because people want it to come together. It&#8217;s so ridiculous. The concept that we&#8217;re even talking about is ridiculous. We&#8217;ll take care of it, Margaret. We&#8217;ll win.
SHERIFF MIMS: Thank you. There could be an MS-13 member I know about &#8212; if they don&#8217;t reach a certain threshold, I cannot tell ICE about it.
THE PRESIDENT: We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in &#8212; and we&#8217;re stopping a lot of them &#8212; but we&#8217;re taking people out of the country. You wouldn&#8217;t believe how bad these people are. These aren&#8217;t people. These are animals. And we&#8217;re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that&#8217;s never happened before. And because of the weak laws, they come in fast, we get them, we release them, we get them again, we bring them out. It&#8217;s crazy.
The dumbest laws &#8212; as I said before, the dumbest laws on immigration in the world. So we&#8217;re going to take care of it, Margaret. We&#8217;ll get it done. We&#8217;re going to ask that man right there, because that man can do it. (Laughter.) Right now he&#8217;s the most important man in the room. Kevin can do it.

So there you have it. Trump is clearly talking about MS-13 gang members, but Andrea Mitchell &#8212; quoting California Gov. Jerry Brown, no less &#8212; wants you to believe Trump thinks all immigrants are animals.
Sure, you&#8217;d think this column would end with &#8220;the MSM oughta&#8217; be ashamed,&#8221; or something like that, but it can&#8217;t, because the MSM clearly no longer feels any shame about . . . anything. Years from now, people will look back on this time period &#8212; the exact one we&#8217;re in right now &#8212; as the moment the media first began to lose its credibility.
It is salvageable, but not by running stories like this.

ANIMALS: Here’s How Unethical The Mainstream Media Really Are

Over the weekend, around 100 of Tom Brokaw&#8217;s former colleagues, including some big names at NBC and MSNBC, released a letter supporting Brokaw against allegations that the longtime NBC anchor had sexually harassed and intimidated a female NBC employee.
But now, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2018/04/30/nbc-staffers-felt-pressured-to-sign-letter-defending-brokaw/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;utm_source=NYPTwitter&amp;utm_medium=SocialFlow">the New York Post reports</a> that letter may not have been an impromptu expression of appreciation for a mentor and veteran newsman. According to the Post&#8217;s exclusive report, women at NBC were pressured to sign the letter and feared what might happen to them if they refused.
&#8220;We felt forced to sign the letter supporting Brokaw. We had no choice, particularly the lower level staffers. The letter was being handed around the office and the unspoken threat was that if your name was not on it, there would be some repercussion down the road. Execs are watching to see who signed and who didn’t.&#8221; an anonymous staffer told Post reporters. &#8220;This was all about coming out in force to protect NBC’s golden boy; the network’s reputation is tied to Brokaw. &#8230; If more women come forward, that’s a big problem.”
Another woman told the Post that they felt &#8220;intimidated&#8221; by big names like Andrea Mitchell, who were so sure of Brokaw&#8217;s innocence that they signed without question: “When you have over 100 women like Andrea Mitchell signing a letter of support without knowing the facts, it’s pretty scary. &#8230; The letter will have a chilling effect on other women coming forward.&#8221;
The letter was also signed by Mika Brzezinski, Rachel Maddow, and Maria Shriver, and at least one high-level NBC producer.
Brokaw has responded forcefully to allegations which surfaced last week claiming he sexually harassed, intimidated, and bullied female NBC reporters back in the 1990s. Linda Vester, a former NBC cub reporter who worked with Brokaw, says Brokaw “groped and assaulted&#8221; her. Another anonymous woman claims Brokaw made &#8220;unwanted advances&#8221; on more than one occasion.
The letter was already being viewed with some skepticism, particularly since some of the signatories were vocal in their support of victims who came forward during the #MeToo movement and suggested that women with allegations be believed even without evidence. This makes the missive even more suspect.
For their part, NBC says they have nothing to do with the letter and claim that the women involved organized the effort outside of the workplace.

Veteran &#8220;NBC Nightly News&#8221; anchor Tom Brokaw stands accused of sexual harassment but it seems the Left&#8217;s &#8220;believe all women&#8221; mantra, coined during the wave of #MeToo allegations that shook the entertainment and news industries last year, falls flat when a beloved progressive icon is in the crosshairs.
<a href="http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/28/media/tom-brokaw-letter-defense-women/index.html?sr=twCNN042818tom-brokaw-letter-defense-women0729PMStory">More than 100 of Brokaw&#8217;s former female colleagues</a> have signed a letter affirming their support for the embattled former anchor, insisting that Brokaw is incapable of sexual harassment and supporting Brokaw in denying the allegations against him.
&#8220;As professional women, we fully endorse the conversation around abuse of power in the workplace. In the context of that conversation, we would like to share our perspectives on working with Tom Brokaw,&#8221; the letter says.
&#8220;Tom has treated each of us with fairness and respect. He has given each of us opportunities for advancement and championed our successes throughout our careers. As we have advanced across industries — news, publishing, law, business and government — Tom has been a valued source of counsel and support. We know him to be a man of tremendous decency and integrity,&#8221; it continues.
The names at the bottom are a Who&#8217;s Who of leftist media icons, from MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow to close Clinton crony Andrea Mitchell.
Brokaw stands accused of harassing and groping a woman named Linda Vester, who says Brokaw touched her inappropriately and abused his power over her while she was a cub reporter at NBC News in the 1990s. Brokaw denied the allegations in a letter last week, calling Vester a &#8220;character assassin&#8221; with a &#8220;grudge against NBC News,&#8221; according to CNN.
&#8220;She has unleashed a torrent of unsubstantiated criticism and attacks on me more than twenty years after I opened the door for her and a new job at Fox News,&#8221; Brokaw added.
Vester claims she&#8217;s coming forward with her allegations now &#8220;because NBC has failed to hire outside counsel to investigate a genuine, long-standing problem of sexual misconduct in the news division.&#8221;
NBC says it&#8217;s investigating Vester&#8217;s claims, but it&#8217;s clear Brokaw&#8217;s colleagues have already made up their minds on the issue and they believe Vester, rather than Brokaw, isn&#8217;t being honest — a position directly at odds with statements many of the signatories made during the height of the #MeToo wave. But those claims, of course, weren&#8217;t against Tom Brokaw.
