The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; were at their wits&#8217; end on Monday as they discussed the Republican-led Continuing Resolution that passed on Friday, ensuring that the federal government would be funded until September, complaining that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) had some explaining to do.
Cohost Whoopi Goldberg led the charge, saying that she planned to have a heart-to-heart with Schumer when he comes to the set for a Tuesday appearance on the midday talk show.
&#8220;So Senator Schumer is going to be here tomorrow, so we&#8217;ll have – yeah — so we&#8217;ll have a lot to talk about,&#8221; Goldberg said, prompting a few laughs from the audience.

Cohost Sara Haines defended Schumer, arguing that allowing the government to shut down would likely have ultimately hurt Democrats.
&#8220;I think that he had two awful options, and this was the one that he chose, and I actually agree. A government shutdown never looks good on the party that seems to be the one that&#8217;s asking for it,&#8221; Haines said, adding that by allowing a shutdown and inviting that criticism, Democrats would be &#8220;taking the target off their back, Trump and Elon Musk, and putting it all on the Democrats&#8221; instead.

The audience roared with laughter, and Navarro continued, &#8220;Because you remember last week we were talking about whether the NFL was capitulating to Trump by removing the term &#8216;End Racism&#8217; from the end zone? Boy, did they not capitulate to Trump.&#8221;
Navarro left out the fact that the NFL had released a statement about removing the &#8220;End Racism&#8221; slogan from the field, saying that it was meant to reflect recent tragedies all across the United States including the Los Angeles County wildfires, Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and the terrorist attack that took place in New Orleans. She also made no attempt to prove that Trump had made any suggestions with regard to who should or should not perform at halftime — or that he&#8217;d ever given any indication that he cared one way or the other.
&#8220;When I saw Samuel L. Jackson dressed as a black Uncle Sam introducing Kendrick Lamar — who then had like an entire formation of all black people making a U.S. flag, listen, this much I know: all the black people in my feed were like, &#8216;Oh, this is blackety-black-black.&#8217; And all the racists who somehow get in, man were they hopping mad. So if the racists are mad, I am happy as a clam.&#8221;

Cohost Ana Navarro weighed in then, claiming that the Trump administration was &#8220;bullying&#8221; immigrants by arresting and deporting violent criminals and complaining about the impact reciprocal tariffs from Mexico might have on the price of imports like avocados and tequila.
&#8220;I look at this thing in Mexico and I&#8217;m like, okay, as if deporting good, hardworking immigrants wasn&#8217;t enough. As if emboldening the racial profiling and bigotry against Latinos wasn&#8217;t enough. As if revoking temporary protective status for half a million Venezuelans wasn&#8217;t enough. Cohost Sara Haines complained about the price of eggs, which skyrocketed due to an outbreak of bird flu before Trump even took office, and suggested that this was somehow tied to Trump&#8217;s tariff threats.
&#8220;Why aren&#8217;t the price of eggs getting better? This was the other part he promised which was tariffs,&#8221; she said, suggesting that the people making less than $50,000 who voted for him &#8221; in spades&#8221; were getting what they voted for, and it was going to hurt them the most.

The hosts of ABC News&#8217; &#8220;The View&#8221; took turns scolding Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) on Monday, first for taking a meeting with President Donald Trump and then for daring to vote in favor of any of his cabinet appointments.
Ana Navarro, who self-identifies as a Republican despite her insistence on supporting and defending former President Joe Biden and even hosting one evening of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, went after Fetterman first.
&#8220;You did get a lot of criticism for it from some people who thought you going to Mar-a-Lago gave cover to Trump by creating this illusion that he&#8217;s amenable to working with Democrats,&#8221; she said of Fetterman&#8217;s visit with Trump at his Florida home. She then boasted that she had supported Republicans who crossed the aisle to work with Biden — before lambasting Democrats who dared to work across the aisle when the other side was Trump.
&#8220;I was very supportive when people like Mitt Romney and Rob Portman worked with Joe Biden, so I understand the need for bipartisanship,&#8221; she said, and then immediately pivoted: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t love the optics of you going to Mar-a-Lago, he was going to — which is his palace. He was going to be in Washington a week later.&#8221;

&#8220;Just for clarification, did you mean that the 34-count case in which Donald Trump was found guilty of various financial crimes was politically motivated?&#8221; Hostin pressed.
&#8220;I found that when the judicial system gets weaponized, and targeted political enemies for political gain, I think that&#8217;s inappropriate, and I think that degrades our collective trust in this very important institution,&#8221; Fetterman pushed back, arguing that it was wrong no matter which side was guilty of such action.
&#8220;I think I like to call it strikes and balls, but the judicial system has to remain impartial. I mean, that&#8217;s really the cornerstone of our society,&#8221; he added.
Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to deflect away from the political prosecution of Trump, asking the audience, &#8220;Wouldn&#8217;t that be great if that&#8217;s the way that things actually worked?&#8221;
After the commercial break, Hostin kept at it, saying that many Democrats were frustrated because Fetterman appeared to have &#8220;made a rightward shift.&#8221; By way of evidence, Hostin listed his previous meeting with the incoming President of the United States, the fact that he joined Truth Social, and his support of border security and fracking — the latter of which sustains many jobs in his home state of Pennsylvania.

&#8220;Can I just say, I think comparing Biden&#8217;s pardons to Trump&#8217;s is like comparing apples to Volkswagens,&#8221; Ana Navarro cut in. &#8220;It does not seem similar to me because Joe Biden&#8217;s family, the people he pardoned on the January 6th Committee, have not actually committed crimes, he is trying to prevent them from spending the rest of their lives fighting the government, which is no easy feat.&#8221;

She argued that attacking the artists, who could simply want to be a part of such a celebrated American tradition regardless of their personal politics, was unfair — especially when politicians from both parties were in attendance.

The cohosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; invited Vice President Kamala Harris to join them on Tuesday in piling on former President Donald Trump, and Harris was only too happy to take them up on the offer.
Harris has faced criticism from both Republicans and Democrats for failing to do substantive interviews — and if the softball questions she got from the left-leaning cohosts of the midday talk show are any indication of what&#8217;s to come, those critics aren&#8217;t likely to be satisfied anytime soon.
Couched comfortably between the softballs, cohosts Ana Navarro and Joy Behar encouraged Harris to take a few potshots at her Republican opponent, and she obliged.
Navarro rescued Harris from the only serious question of the day — which she had fumbled by saying that she couldn&#8217;t think of anything she would have done differently from President Biden — and gave her a mulligan.

&#8220;Well, let me just add to your list,&#8221; Harris, who had been nodding along in agreement with Behar throughout, began — and then started laughing along with the audience and cohosts.
&#8220;It&#8217;s only an hour show,&#8221; Behar interrupted.
&#8220;How much time do you have?&#8221; Harris laughed. &#8220;Including he has said he would terminate the Constitution of the United States.&#8221;
What Trump actually said, in a Truth Social post in December of 2022, was a response to internal Twitter emails proving that the platform had intentionally buried reporting on the contents of Hunter Biden&#8217;s now infamous laptop — information which, according to polling, could very well have changed the outcome of the 2020 election.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention will look more like a typical Hollywood awards show than a political event when things kick off this week in Chicago. 
Convention organizers have confirmed to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/18/entertainment/kerry-washington-mindy-kaling-dnc-hosts/index.html">CNN</a> that a different celebrity will kick off each of the four nights at the DNC, where the featured star will give remarks and reappear on stage throughout the evening, starting on Monday night with “Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn.
Tuesday night, CNN contributor and host of “The View” Ana Navarro will emcee the evening. Wednesday night TV star Mindy Kaling will host followed by actress Kerry Washington on Thursday, who will emcee the evening on the same night that Vice President Kamala Harris will officially accept the Democratic party’s nomination.
And they will not be the only ones, as dozens of Hollywood stars flock to the Windy City for events and concerts planned around the DNC, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dozens-of-hollywood-stars-flocking-to-chicago-for-dnc">reported</a>.
John Legend, an outspoken supporter of the Democratic Party and past contenders for the White House, will hold a concert for Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/democratic-national-convention-chicago-celebrities-hollywood-stars-1235974542/">Hollywood Reporter</a> noted.

Comedy Central’s “<a href="https://1iota.com/show/1737/the-daily-show-in-chicago">The Daily Show</a>” will have Jon Stewart and its “all-star news team” on hand during the week to film the show, with Stewart hosting a live show on Thursday night, 
Late-night host Stephen Colbert is taking his show on the road for the first time with guest appearances that include Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Chance the Rapper, among others <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/hillary-clinton-nancy-pelosi-stephen-colbert-late-show-live-dnc-2024-1235977097/">THR</a> noted.
Singer Joan Jet, actress Octavia Spencer, Billy Porter, DJ-D Nice, and Lil Jon, along with several stars of the reality series “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” are also named as being at the convention. The advocacy group The Creative Coalition has confirmed that it booked stars like Uma Thurman, Uzo Aduba, Busy Phillips, Jon Cryer, David Cross, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and more for a series of events during the week.
Connie Britton is also expected to make the trip, THR noted. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Murphy are expected at the convention, too, with a source telling THR that Don Cheadle may be there as well.
There is even supposed to be a Hollywood premiere-style look at the DNC with a “blue” carpet for the arrival of the bigger-named attendees, <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/08/democratic-national-convention-red-carpet-snapchat-matt-friend-1236040464/">Deadline</a> reported.
At the time of this publication, Thurman’s rep said the actress won’t be there due to work commitments and Ralph will not be there until Thursday night, THR noted.

“The View” host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ana-navarro-goes-off-on-people-calling-on-israel-to-have-restraint-after-savage-terrorist-attacks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ana Navarro</a> labeled <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bishop-accuses-biden-of-mocking-catholic-faith-in-viral-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Joe Biden</a> the “most religious president” she can recall in her lifetime.
On Tuesday, during Navarro’s appearance on CNN, the &#8220;View&#8221; cohost and former GOP strategist defended Biden against former President Donald Trump after Trump told Christian voters that the Democrats are &#8220;against your religion,&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/view-host-claims-biden-most-religious-president-her-lifetime?intcmp=tw_fnc">Fox News</a> reported.
&#8216;It&#8217;s crazy for him to say Democrats are against religion at a time when we are led by Joe Biden, who, in my lifetime, is the most religious president I can recall,&#8221; Navarro told the host. &#8220;[Biden&#8217;s] not a Christian conservative. He&#8217;s an Irish Catholic church-going practicing Catholic.&#8221;
Navarro also called out evangelical voters who are still standing by Trump despite wanting to see the former president take a harder line on abortion. 
 &#8220;I think a lot of evangelicals crossed that bridge already and they did so in 2016 after they voted for Donald Trump after they heard him boast about sexual assault on video and on tape,&#8221; she added.&#8221;

After the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that ultimately overturned <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/united-states-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-leaves-abortion-restrictions-to-states">Roe v. Wade</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-releases-long-awaited-abortion-position-says-policies-should-be-left-to-states">Trump</a> has largely stayed out of the conversation only to say recently that it’s a state’s right issue and abortion will be handled on the state level.
“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-releases-long-awaited-abortion-position-says-policies-should-be-left-to-states">Trump said</a>.
Trump said he “proudly” takes responsibility for the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe, which happened in June 2022 with a conservative majority he helped put together. He acknowledged that states will have varying degrees of limits on the procedure.
The former president also noted that he is “strongly in favor of” exceptions for rape, incest, and saving the life of the mother.
“At the end of the day, this is about the will of the people,” Trump said, adding later, “You must follow your heart on this issue, but remember: you must also win elections to restore our culture and, in fact, to save our country.”
During his pre-taped address at the Life &amp; Liberty Forum on Monday, the former president <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/why-evangelicals-are-wedded-trump-he-makes-more-biblical-appeal">urged Christian voters</a> to support him in the 2024 election.
&#8220;You just can’t vote Democrat. They’re against religion,&#8221; Trump said to the group, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/06/10/he-sounded-more-like-a-politician-trump-gets-hit-by-both-dems-and-his-own-supporters-on-abortion-00162589">according to POLITICO.</a> &#8220;They’re against your religion in particular.&#8221;
