<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/marvel-star-doesnt-think-captain-america-should-represent-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anthony Mackie</a> said he’s “a proud American” as he responded to backlash against him for saying</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> he didn’t believe “the term America” was one of the things that represented the superhero Captain America, who represents things like “honor, dignity, and integrity.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a post on Tuesday on the Marvel star’s </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/anthonymackie/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instagram Stories</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Mackie wrote, “Let me be clear about this, I’m a proud American and taking on the shield of a hero like CAP [Captain America] is the honor of a lifetime.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I have the utmost respect for those who serve and have served our country,” he added. “CAP has universal characteristics that people all over the world can relate to.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The original comments came while Mackie, whose character Sam Wilson has now taken over the Captain America role, was on a press tour in Rome and was asked about his role in the new Disney movie “Captain America: Brave New World.” The hero role was formerly played by </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-evans"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Chris Evans</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, as previously </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/marvel-star-doesnt-think-captain-america-should-represent-america"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Today, every American, whether Democrat, independent, or Republican, ought to pray for President Trump’s success, because then you are praying for the success of the United States of America.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That doesn&#8217;t mean you have to agree with all his policies. It doesn&#8217;t mean you have to agree with everything he does. I&#8217;m not going to agree with everything he does.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But it </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">does </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">mean that for the sake of the country, I hope and pray President Trump will be precisely the kind of president that America needs: a president who relies on common sense; a president who does not just seek momentary victories, but also seeks long-term victories; a president who restructures the systems that need restructuring; and cleans out the deadwood in need of cleaning out.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I think President Trump takes all of that seriously; he seems to already be taking on the task before him. It is a very serious approach. It is a moment of optimism, but it also is a moment of determination.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Republicans need to hit the ground running. They need to get to work on the one-bill strategy. They need to make the Trump tax cuts permanent and to loosen regulations dramatically.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">They need to fire an enormous number of people in the executive branch. They need to restore our nation&#8217;s border and deport illegal immigrants, particularly criminal illegal immigrants. They need to restore the semblance of sanity in a country that completely lost its sanity under Joe Biden.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The stakes are really high because America doesn&#8217;t get opportunities like this particularly often.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It is very rare to get a second bite at the apple. I think there has been a lot of despair. In 2020, I was one of the people who felt that despair when Joe Biden took the White House. You get a second chance so rarely, but the American people are getting a second chance with President Trump.</span></p>

President Trump has pledged a big agenda — a big, robust agenda — and some of it&#8217;s going to start taking place today.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But it&#8217;s not just going to require the efforts of President Trump, because the country doesn&#8217;t rise and fall on one man. It rises and falls on the American people and their elected representatives. That means members of Congress need to help push forward the Trump agenda in pragmatic fashion. It means the Senate needs to push forward President Trump&#8217;s agenda in pragmatic fashion.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yes, there will be give and take, and push back, and no bill is going to be perfect. I hope that conservatives get more out of these bills than members of the Left do. That&#8217;s my hope.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But for us, the American people, this is our opportunity. This is our opportunity to thrive. It&#8217;s an opportunity for merit to take the floor once again. Freedom is being restored. Free speech is being restored; free markets are being restored.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Take this opportunity to go to church. Take this opportunity to get in touch with your neighbors. Take this opportunity to recapitulate what made America great in the first place. Things like free minds, free speech, community values, and rule of law. Those are the things we should all be praying for under the incoming Trump administration.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He made the statements when the new trailer was released last Thursday. “We do have a battered Superman in the beginning. That is our country,” Gunn said during a press conference. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I believe in the goodness of human beings, and I believe that most people in this country, despite their ideological beliefs, their politics, are doing their best to get by and be good people — despite what it may seem like to the other side, no matter what that other side might be,” he continued. “This movie is about that. It’s about the basic kindness of human beings, and that it can be seen as uncool and under siege [by] some of the darker voices are some of the louder voices.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I’m excited for people to get to see the essence of what we’re doing because it really has been like this private secret that we’ve all been hoarding,” Gunn told </span><a href="https://variety.com/2024/film/trailers/superman-trailer-krypto-green-lantern-hawkgirl-james-gunn-1236254384/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Variety</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the upcoming film, which is slated for release on July 11.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I’m not saying that about other hero movies in general. But it felt good to be doing something that was about a person’s kindness,” he added.</span></p>

It’s an action-packed ride that only includes one line of dialogue when Superman (David Corenswet) says to his dog Krypto, “Home. Take me home.” It features snippets of scenes with several other characters all set against the backdrop of “The Superman Theme” by John Murphy, which is a &#8220;<a href="https://www.dc.com/blog/2024/12/20/all-the-amazing-things-we-found-in-the-superman-teaser">modern day reimagining</a>&#8221; of John Williams&#8217; original music from 1978. </span></p>

He has friends who are other superheroes. He has people he doesn’t get along as well with who are other superheroes. He has a lot of the things that we love from the Superman comics that we haven’t been able to see as much of in filmed media, and definitely haven’t been able to see in a grounded way, which is what I hope we’ve created.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gunn didn’t get into specifics on politics during the press conference, but he has spoken critically about president-elect Donald Trump in the past. </span></p>

I’m not gonna stop you. <p>A significantly higher percentage of Republicans say they are &#8220;extremely proud&#8221; to be American compared to Democrats and independents, according to <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/646655/american-pride-remains-near-record-low.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survey</a> results released just two days before Independence Day.</p>
<p>The Gallup poll, which surveyed U.S. adults from June 3-23, shows that 59% of Republicans say they are &#8220;extremely proud&#8221; of their national identity, which remains near record-low numbers. Only 34% of Democrats and 36% of independents said the same, which is up slightly from last year for both demographics, according to Gallup.</p>
<p>The gap between Republicans and Democrats in expressing pride in America has closed in the past five years. Republicans&#8217; pride in their country has dropped from 76% to 59%, while Democrats&#8217; pride in America has risen from 22% in 2019 to 34% in 2024. The Gallup results show that that gap began to close toward the end of former President Donald Trump&#8217;s term in office and throughout President Joe Biden&#8217;s first term.</p>

Gallup&#8217;s latest survey results show a stark contrast in how Republicans, Democrats, and independents felt about being American 20 years ago. In 2004, 82% of Republicans, 65% of independents, and 60% of Democrats said they were &#8220;extremely proud&#8221; to be American. Republicans have maintained a higher sense of pride in their national identity than Democrats and independents since the turn of the century.</p>
<p>&#8220;Americans’ national pride was highest after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, when patriotism surged in the U.S.,&#8221; Gallup wrote. &#8220;Extreme pride has been trending downward since 2015.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;While the percentage of U.S. adults who say they are extremely proud to be American is near the lowest point on record, about two-thirds continue to be at least very proud,&#8221; Gallup added. &#8220;Republicans’ national pride, though near its lowest point, remains high compared with Democrats’ and independents’, although all party groups are significantly less proud than they were 20 years ago.&#8221;</p>
<p>According to the survey, 18% of U.S. adults say they are &#8220;moderately proud&#8221; to be American, 10% say they are &#8220;only a little&#8221; proud, and 5% say they are &#8220;not at all&#8221; proud.</p>
<p>Another Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/646643/june-economic-confidence-stable-low.aspx?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=o_social&amp;utm_term=gallup&amp;utm_campaign=x-news-eci_070324" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survey</a> taken over the same time period showed that Americans have an overall negative view of the current economic conditions. Forty-eight percent of respondents said economic conditions in the U.S. are &#8220;poor,&#8221; 28% said they are &#8220;only fair,&#8221; and only 25% said they are &#8220;excellent/good.&#8221; Nearly 70% of Americans said they believe the economy is &#8220;getting worse,&#8221; and 26% said it&#8217;s &#8220;getting better.&#8221;</p>

<p>David Cone, a co-host of The Daily Wire’s sports podcast “Crain &amp; Co.,” dropped his first country single this week with his song about “blue jeans” and “rock and roll” in “Just What America Needs.”</p>
<p>On Friday, the Daily Wire host announced his new country song, which he worked on with Nashville legend Kent Wells, Dolly Parton’s long-time producer. “Just What American Needs” is the first of six singles Cone will be releasing in the next few months. Cone said that Wells, the legendary music producer who is coming off a hugely successful album release in Dolly Parton’s “Rockstar,” was impressed by what he heard in the “Crain &amp; Co.” hosts new songs.</p>
<p>Cone revealed the song <a href="https://x.com/davidadamcone/status/1786388786462511475" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in a post on X</a>, which showcased him rocking out to lyrics about finding a good woman that he loves who is “Just What America Needs.” Cone said the song “intersects with the missional statement of what I want to do in my life now, and with the company I work for with The Daily Wire.”</p>

<p>“I thought now that I have a platform with this sports show, ‘Crain &amp; Co.’ and the aftermath of our movie ‘Lady Ballers,’ now would be the best time to release new music, especially music that is patriotic,” he added. “‘Just What America Needs’ seemed like the no-brainer song for me to start with.”</p>
<p>Cone said his other five singles will be released over the next few months — one of which is another patriotic song titled “American Made,” which Cone hopes to release around the Fourth of July.</p>
<p>Additionally, Cone will release “Flavors of Kentucky,” “Southward Bound,” “Die in Alabama,” and “Thompson&#8217;s Station Train.” The Daily Wire host taught himself how to play the guitar as a senior at the University of Michigan before he started writing music and playing at venues in Atlanta and Nashville.</p>
<p>One powerful line in “Just What America Needs” features Cone singing about how a woman “proudly raised in the USA” likes “social living, not socialism” and suggests that with “few more like her, this country would be okay.”</p>
<p>The chorus praises the woman because she, “likes blue jeans and rock and roll, raised up right, loving country roads. ‘Free Bird’ on the radio, she’s just what America needs.”</p>
<p>In the song, the “Crain &amp; Co.” host notes that he used to sit and complain “about how there was no use of dating any of these girls today,” until he heard this one woman “singing God bless the USA.”</p>
<p>“‘Just What America Needs’ is as close to me being the actual protagonist as possible. And the woman who he’s loving in the song is as close to being my wife as possible,” Cone said.</p>
<p>Cone revealed that the final hurdle to clear in “Just What America Needs” came at “the last turnaround verse.”</p>
<p>“I came up with the line, ‘But she ain&#8217;t perfect, she loves pizza cold,’ and when I wrote that line I thought it’s now been elevated, and now the song can be complete,” Cone said. “Before that I think it opened itself up to criticism that it was just a cliche patriotic song, but that last part there [shows] I’m not holding people who are just what America needs to a perfect standard because this girl isn’t either. She eats her pizza cold. To me, it was a perfect way to wrap up a song.”</p>

<p>Iranian Supreme Leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ali-khamenei" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ayatollah Ali Khamenei</a> said during an address to his country this week that &#8220;death to America&#8221; is not just a slogan or a chant, it&#8217;s the country&#8217;s official policy toward the U.S.</p>
<p>The remarks come as the Islamic Republic, which is the world&#8217;s leading state sponsor of terrorism, has fueled attacks against Israel over the last month through several terrorist proxy groups, including Hamas, which murdered 1,400 Israelis. Terrorist leaders with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have repeatedly <a href="https://twitter.com/MEMRIReports/status/1720095669937992115" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> that Iran was the main backer behind their activities, providing them with money, weapons, and training.</p>
<p>Khamenei made the remarks Wednesday on Iran&#8217;s Channel 1, according to a video clip translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.</p>
<p>&#8220;The situation between America and Iran is this: When you chant &#8216;Death to America!&#8217; it is not just a slogan – it is a policy,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I have stated the reasons previously. For many years, from the 1940s to the 1970s – that is 30 years – the Americans did everything they could do against the Iranian nation. They hit Iran in any way they could – financially, economically, politically, scientifically, and morally.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;If it were not for America&#8217;s support, if it were not for the support of U.S. weapons, the corrupt and artificial Zionist regime would have been destroyed in the first week,&#8221; he claimed. &#8220;It would have collapsed. The Americans are behind this.&#8221;</p>
<p>He also claimed that Iran was not helping push anti-Semitic rallies across the world.</p>
