Former White House official Alyssa Farah Griffin argued on Wednesday that President Donald Trump absolutely “has a plan” for the ongoing government shutdown and how to best use it to his advantage, saying that Democrats were unlikely to enjoy the eventual outcome.
The ABC midday talk show opened with a discussion between Griffin and the other co-hosts about the shutdown that Senate Democrats triggered on Tuesday — and who was more likely to be blamed if the parties were unable to quickly reach an agreement and get things reopened.

Griffin cited polling that suggested Democrats were likely to feel the brunt of the public’s anger, saying, “There’s polling out there that says, well, 4% will blame Republicans and 23% are going to blame Dems. Another 34% of Americans blame both sides.”

“Even on the Obamacare subsidies, you could pass it as a stand-alone bill,” she added, referencing one of the key sticking-point issues. “It does not need to be tied to shutting down the government. What I constantly hear is Donald Trump has too much power. The White House, the executive branch, has too much power. By shutting down the federal government, Congress, you’ve given up spending power.”
Griffin went on to insist that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would surely have “figured it out.”
“Well, yeah, she did figure it out,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg agreed, and then complained that the real problem was that Republicans weren’t bending to the whims of holdout Democrats.
“We just need a better person to compromise with. We need somebody who is willing to compromise,” Goldberg continued. “[Trump said] that he’ll go to work on Democrats during the shutdown. It’s like, why are you going to work on us? We’re trying to work with you. He wouldn’t meet with them.”
“But that’s my warning to Democrats. Donald Trump wants the shutdown. You guys shouldn’t have given what he wanted because it means he’s got a plan and I don’t think you’re going to like the outcome,” Griffin concluded.

The hosts of ABC’s “The View” appeared baffled as to why the leaders of the United States military might need to be in peak physical condition, and spent much of Tuesday’s broadcast complaining that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was demanding physical fitness from his troops.
The cohosts were responding to the unprecedented meeting held in Quantico on Tuesday morning, during which Hegseth spoke directly to hundreds of the military’s top brass — all of whom had been directed to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/president-trump-will-attend-militarys-unprecedented-all-hands-meeting">attend that meeting</a> in person.
Complaining that Hegseth’s remarks described a “very retro vision for our armed forces,” cohost Joy Behar demanded to know why Hegseth was “obsessed with fat?”

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin suggested that the changes weren’t needed because the military was already in great shape — despite data indicating that more than two-thirds of current active military members are considered overweight, and 22% are considered “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fit-not-fat-pete-hegseth-promises-standard-overhaul-after-unacceptable-troop-fitness-report">obese.</a>”
“I’m very lost on the fact that it seems like it’s become a Republican Party position out of nowhere that the U.S. Military is weak. We’re the greatest fighting force in the history of mankind,” she claimed.
Griffin later suggested that Hegseth was critical of generals like former Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley because he wanted to make himself feel better about his own service.

Cohost Sara Haines claimed there was a “recruiting lull” despite record-breaking recruitment numbers coming from every branch of service, and then complained that the security of the military was at risk because the meeting was held in person. She also whined about the cost of bringing them in for the meeting, and then complained that they’d done it just to tell the generals to shave and go back to “hazing” trainees.
Hostin was “befuddled” by the move to “toughen physical standards” and complained about Hegseth’s plan to reinstate higher standards.
“I don’t understand how that was supposed to be an uplifting message for our military,” she said.

Behar pivoted back to Trump, adding, “If you guys think we can survive another 3 1/2 years of this, I think you’re delusional &#8230; every day this guy is undoing something in this country that we value.”
During his remarks, Hegseth declared that all military members — from new privates to four-star generals – would be expected to meet the prescribed height and weight standards and pass physical training (PT) tests on a regular basis. He also stated that “fat troops” in formations and “fat generals at the Pentagon” were a thing of the past and would no longer be tolerated: “It’s a bad look.”

Whoopi Goldberg took a wave of backlash after she used her platform on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; to claim that black Americans — even in the year 2025 — were no better off than Iranian citizens living under the brutal and oppressive Islamist government.
Goldberg and cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-view-goes-sideways-when-two-cohosts-claim-black-americans-are-worse-off-than-iranians">squared off</a> on the topic during Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast, when Griffin correctly pointed out the fact that an Iranian woman would likely be arrested — or worse — for stepping foot outside wearing even the relatively modest outfit she had on at the time. &#8220;I can’t have my hair showing, I can’t wear a skirt, I can’t have my arms out,&#8221; she said.
Goldberg apparently objected to the idea that Iranians were more oppressed than black Americans, and said, &#8220;Listen, here’s the thing — let’s not do the — let’s not do that, because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car.&#8221;
“I’m sorry, but where the Iranian regime is today is nothing compared to the United States,” Griffin interjected, again correctly.
&#8220;They used to just keep hanging black people!&#8221; Goldberg exclaimed, and continued to press the point.
But much like their reaction when Goldberg claimed that the Holocaust was &#8220;not about race,&#8221; critics quickly made it clear that they were not buying her assertions.

&#8220;I think it&#8217;s very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran,&#8221; Griffin did not back down.
&#8220;Not if you&#8217;re black,&#8221; Goldberg claimed.

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; complained about President Donald Trump&#8217;s plan to lower the cost of prescription drugs for Americans — but as Whoopi Goldberg laid out her objections, it appeared as though her main objection was the fact that Trump was doing what Democrats had not been able to do thus far.
Goldberg started off the conversation during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast by asserting that Trump&#8217;s plan was bad because he had not yet specified which drugs he was talking about, nor had he explained which health insurance plans might be impacted by any new policies.
&#8220;Well, again, he didn&#8217;t specify which drugs he was going to target — or which insurance programs would be impacted,&#8221; she complained. &#8220;Because you see, if you&#8217;re going to lower the price of the drugs, you gotta first fix the broken insurance company,&#8221; Goldberg laughed. &#8220;Because they are — it doesn&#8217;t make any sense.&#8221;
&#8220;You know what though, I would think that you have to take money out of politics, too, because a lot of these guys in Congress, don&#8217;t they take money from pharmaceutical lobbyists?&#8221; Joy Behar asked. &#8220;I mean —&#8221;
&#8220;But there are lobbyists in other countries, too,&#8221; cohost Sara Haines pushed back.
Behar pivoted then to attack Trump&#8217;s appearance and weight, saying, &#8220;The guy has 153 rooms in the White House. He can&#8217;t have one mirror to look into? Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out the fact that Trump&#8217;s plan was actually supported by some of the progressives in Congress — including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) because some parts of it mirrored a bill they were already working on to lower drug costs.
Griffin then said that her main issue with the plan was the potential for enforcement of lowered prices, which she said veered too close to Soviet-style price controls for her tastes.
Goldberg then responded by arguing that the infusion of socialism into the health care system — the raising of taxes on everyone to make sure that the government could absorb the costs of drugs so that those who needed medication were able to afford it — was not actually socialism.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not socialism,&#8221; she insisted. &#8220;It&#8217;s best for the country if everyone can afford their health care!&#8221;

Former President Joe Biden got only one question about his obvious cognitive decline when he made an appearance on Thursday&#8217;s broadcast of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; — and former first lady Jill Biden had to jump in and help him with his response.
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin, who typically identifies herself as a Republican despite <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republican-host-of-the-view-admits-to-fawning-cohosts-she-voted-kamala" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supporting</a> former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, took the most indirect route possible to the obvious question. Rather than basing it on hours and hours of speeches and public appearance where Biden&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doocy-corners-karine-jean-pierre-who-ordered-white-house-officials-to-cover-up-bidens-decline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cognitive abilities</a> were clearly lacking, Griffin instead framed it around the numerous books that are now being written by insiders revealing what they knew and when they knew it.
&#8220;Since you left office, there have been a number of books that have come out, deeply sourced from Democratic sources that claim in your final year there was a dramatic decline in your cognitive abilities, in the final year of your presidency,&#8221; Griffin said. &#8220;What is your response to these allegations and are these sources wrong?&#8221;
&#8220;They are wrong. There&#8217;s nothing to sustain that, um, number one,&#8221; Biden began, before pivoting to give a rambling response that in no way addressed the point of Griffin&#8217;s question. &#8220;Number two, you know, think of what we were left with, we were left with a circumstance where we — uh — we had an insurrection? When I started, we — not since the Civil War.&#8221;
Biden then appeared to blame the pandemic — and one million dead Americans — on President Donald Trump, adding, &#8220;We had a circumstance where we were in a position that we — uh — well, the pandemic, because of the incompetence of the last outfit, end up over a million people dying, a million people dying. And we&#8217;re also in a situation where we found ourselves unable to deal with a lot of just basic issues and, uh, which I won&#8217;t go into here in the interest of time &#8230; and so we went to work and we got it done, and you know one of the things that, well, that —&#8221;
The former president appeared to lose his train of thought then, prompting Jill Biden to jump in and answer the question for him — and she tried to suggest that the authors of the books did not know what they were talking about.
&#8220;You know, one of the things I think is that the people who wrote those books were not in the White House with us,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;And they didn&#8217;t see how hard Joe worked every single day. I mean, he&#8217;d get up, he&#8217;d put in a full day, and then at night he&#8217;d — I&#8217;d be in bed, you know, reading my book, and he was still on the phone, reading his briefings, working with staff &#8230; I think he was a great president.&#8221;
She concluded with a jab at President Trump, saying, &#8220;If you look at things today, give me Joe Biden any time.&#8221;

Griffin pushed back lightly, noting that Biden ultimately left the 2024 presidential race after some prodding from members of his own party — including former President Barack Obama, with whom he had served as vice president for eight years.
&#8220;Can I ask what your relationship is with President Obama and how you address those concerns that they raised?&#8221; she asked.

The hosts of ABC News&#8217; &#8220;The View&#8221; attempted to explain President Donald Trump&#8217;s use of tariffs — or the threat of tariffs — during Monday&#8217;s broadcast, and aside from a brief moment of lucidity from Alyssa Farah Griffin, got everything wrong.
Griffin opened the discussion by noting that Trump&#8217;s threats had already succeeded in bringing Mexico and Canada to the negotiating table — and that both had pledged to aid in his efforts to control the flow of illegal immigrants and lethal drugs across the border and into the United States.
She then pivoted to warn that she believed Trump might be moving toward a more isolationist policy, which she claimed could lead to American allies siding with China instead.

Cohost Ana Navarro weighed in then, claiming that the Trump administration was &#8220;bullying&#8221; immigrants by arresting and deporting violent criminals and complaining about the impact reciprocal tariffs from Mexico might have on the price of imports like avocados and tequila.

&#8220;Why aren&#8217;t the price of eggs getting better? This was the other part he promised which was tariffs,&#8221; she said, suggesting that the people making less than $50,000 who voted for him &#8221; in spades&#8221; were getting what they voted for, and it was going to hurt them the most.

The hosts of ABC News&#8217; midday talk show &#8220;The View&#8221; aired what amounted to a collective temper tantrum on Tuesday, complaining about the fact that President Donald Trump had unshackled federal agents and tasked them with enforcing immigration law.
The broadcast began with regular host Whoopi Goldberg, who responded to actress Selena Gomez&#8217; tearful video claiming that her &#8220;people&#8221; were being attacked. Goldberg then falsely claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were indiscriminately sweeping up any and all illegal immigrants for immediate deportation.
Border czar <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/homan-ice-has-made-1300-arrests-including-pedophiles-gang-members-and-at-least-1-terrorist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tom Homan</a>, who spoke to NewsNation host Chris Cuomo last week, explained that the agents are targeting criminal aliens first — meaning those who have committed additional crimes beyond simply entering the United States illegally — but that because some of them are hiding in sanctuary jurisdictions, there have also been some &#8220;collateral&#8221; arrests.
Goldberg complained that the Trump administration was not beginning by deporting people who were already in prison because they&#8217;d been convicted of crimes. Joy Behar, ignoring the fact that they were American citizens and had already been pardoned, claimed that Trump couldn&#8217;t do that because he&#8217;d &#8220;have to send the January 6th people back too.&#8221;

&#8220;Can I just say, I think comparing Biden&#8217;s pardons to Trump&#8217;s is like comparing apples to Volkswagens,&#8221; Ana Navarro cut in. &#8220;It does not seem similar to me because Joe Biden&#8217;s family, the people he pardoned on the January 6th Committee, have not actually committed crimes, he is trying to prevent them from spending the rest of their lives fighting the government, which is no easy feat.&#8221;

Goldberg went on to say that she was bothered by the fact that the Marine veteran had chosen to toast his freedom at a bar: “I don’t know that seeing them celebrating in a bar made me comfortable.”
She then addressed the verdict itself, arguing that it was a “failure of the court” that Penny was not convicted. She said that Neely’s behavior could have stemmed from his mother’s murder and argued that everyone — from the hospitals to the courts — had failed him.
