Vice President JD Vance poured a few beers for American service members at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, speaking to troops briefly while his plane refueled during his return trip back to the United States.
The vice president has seen a busy week beginning with Easter Sunday at the Vatican, where he briefly met with the late Pope Francis just hours before the pontiff died of a stroke, followed by a trip to India with Second Lady Usha Vance and their three children.
Vance, according to the pool report, commented on the hectic nature of his schedule as he spoke to the crowd, saying in part, &#8220;I have no idea what the hell day it is, what time it is, but we’re glad to be here with you guys.”
&#8220;I guess as a small token of appreciation, I’m going to serve you guys some beers,&#8221; the vice president said after he&#8217;d finished speaking. He drank first, raising a traditional German painted stein and prepared to toast the gathered service members.
Initially joking that he should chug the beer, Vance quickly course-corrected, saying, &#8220;That would go viral, and not in a good way, my friends.&#8221;
Instead, he sipped from the stein and offered his toast: &#8220;To the airmen of this base, the airwomen of this base, and all of our troops serving overseas, God bless you guys. Cheers.&#8221;
Vance proceeded to pour beers from the &#8220;kegerator,&#8221; designed and built by Air Force Master Sgt. Anthony Davis, as the troops filed in, some exchanging greetings and asking the vice president to take photos with them.

One airman asked how his flight had been, to which Vance replied, &#8220;It was 9 hours and 20 minutes with three little kids and as good as it could be &#8230; I’m not giving everybody a full pour here.&#8221;
&#8220;What’s up man?&#8221; Vance asked one airman. &#8220;Drinking on the job here, now that your tour’s over?&#8221;
&#8220;Are you old enough to drink this beer?&#8221; he asked another.
One female airman reportedly asked Vance to do &#8220;the Trump dance.&#8221;
Davis asked Vance to sign his &#8220;kegerator,&#8221; and he happily obliged. &#8220;This thing is awesome,&#8221; he said.

Canada is a cold place, and to get around my home of Ontario comfortably during the winter I’m lucky to have a top-shelf pair of American premium leather cowboy boots by Durango. They’re perfect, except for the part where they supposedly can increase my risk of cancer.
Yes, because my boots comply with California’s Proposition 65, they came with a Cancer and Reproductive Harm <a href="https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2020-07-23/prop-65-product-warnings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warning label</a> in the event I were to excessively lick or dine upon my footwear. Everything from DVD players to couches now carry these labels if they’re sold in California, in case a consumer were to ingest them instead of watch a movie or take a nap. Considering the earth’s sun is a well-known carcinogen, it’s a wonder California hasn’t legislated some kind of labeling on the menacing gaseous ball elevating the cancer risk of everyone beneath its rays.
Perhaps the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy will take action after he’s done frightening consumers about alcohol. Murthy’s latest <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/surgeongeneral/priorities/alcohol-cancer/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advisory report</a> on “the causal link between alcohol consumption and increased risk for at least seven different types of cancer” <a href="https://www.today.com/health/diet-fitness/alcohol-cancer-risk-rcna186367" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has America spooked</a>. We experienced the same tactics in Canada.
The political collapse of Prime Minster Justin Trudeau in Canada temporarily killed a <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tasker-canada-alcohol-problem-health-warning-labels-1.6850180" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bill</a> that would have had Canada <a href="https://www.medcentral.com/biz-policy/should-alcohol-labels-have-a-cancer-warning" target="_blank" rel="noopener">follow Ireland</a> in slapping cancer warnings on all alcoholic beverages. It’s part of a movement within the public health establishment via the <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/alcohol">World Health Organization</a>, to shift world governments away from the message of “drink responsibly” and toward “<a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tasker-canada-alcohol-problem-health-warning-labels-1.6850180" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no amount is safe</a>”.
Consumers should know the risks associated with alcohol consumption, but what exactly are those risks?
First, Dr. Murthy’s report is what’s known as an observational study, which means conclusions are drawn without experiments featuring variables and controls. These reports study large pre-existing data sets and can show correlation, not causation, of illness associated with certain products like alcohol. It is literally not possible for observational studies to demonstrate cause and effect.
Second, the data sets informing the research are biased toward <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24825591/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">respondents underreporting</a> their level of drinking. It is to be expected then that the data for moderate drinkers is systematically enmeshed with that of heavy drinkers who underestimate their weekly intake.
The result is that moderate drinking ends up looking more risky than it might otherwise be on a chart illustrating a correlation between alcohol consumption and certain cancers.
The Canadian Centre for Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) <a href="https://www.ccsa.ca/canadas-guidance-alcohol-and-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">led</a> the charge for warning labels in Canada, and their own findings illustrated the same kind of disproportionate response being mimicked by Dr. Murthy in the US. The CCSA’s report argued that a male who consumes 2 drinks per day may increase their <a href="https://financialpost.com/opinion/david-clement-happy-festivus-earful-for-you" target="_blank" rel="noopener">absolute</a> colorectal cancer risk by 0.0028 percent. If you add the increased risk for all cancers measured by the CCSA (liver, colorectal, esophagus, larynx, and oral/pharynx) related to alcohol consumption, the total absolute increase in cancer risk for a male drinking 2 drinks per day is 0.0099, or 9.9 one-hundredths of a percent.
These are not the kind of numbers you’d take seriously if they were on the warning label, and it’s not especially helpful to slap tobacco-style cancer warnings on products that are exponentially less harmful. The <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/lung-cancer/risk-factors/?CDC_AAref_Val=https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/lung/basic_info/risk_factors.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CDC</a> estimates that smoking increases cancer risk by 15-30 times when compared to non-smokers.
Smoking comes with an increased cancer risk that is more than 1,000%. Two alcoholic drinks per day, however, is only an increase of 0.0099% in risk. These things are not the same.
A <a href="https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2839311">2016 paper</a> from Harvard Kennedy School laid out the best case against an overzealous warning label regime like California’s Prop 65 and the movement to associate alcohol with the hazards of cigarettes. Harvard said of Prop 65 that it “fails miserably at distinguishing between large and small risks; that is to say between wolves and puppies.” The cancer warning label movement “cries wolf” over statistically insignificant risks and deters consumers from taking labels seriously when a genuinely dangerous product comes to market in the future.
It is not good for consumers when warning labels are a <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAnAmerican/comments/lvkiys/proposition_65_should_i_worry/">punchline</a>, but that’s precisely what happens when cancer warnings are on cigarettes and <a href="https://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/GettyImages-171179611.jpg">Starbucks self-serve</a> sugar stations.
The connection between heavy drinking and certain cancers of the mouth and throat is generally accepted by researchers, including the most recent report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) about the health impacts of alcohol. NASEM <a href="https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/28582/review-of-evidence-on-alcohol-and-health">showed the same</a> uptick in the risk for breast cancer with moderate drinking but did not replicate a connection between moderate drinking and the rest of the other afflictions.
Any consumer should scratch their head when the Surgeon General’s alcohol warning is that “evidence shows that this risk may start to increase around one or fewer drinks per day.”
May start? Fewer than one drink per day? This barely clever wording means Dr. Murthy cannot demonstrate total sobriety as having a 0.0 correlation with developing cancer.
This strategic uncertainty should tell you something about the claims being made by Vivek Murthy and public health authorities in places like Canada. The conclusions don’t make that much sense. For example, Dr. Joseph Sparano, deputy director of the Tisch Cancer Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, <a href="https://www.today.com/health/diet-fitness/alcohol-cancer-risk-rcna186367">told NBC’s Today</a> “Drinking may explain some of the increased cancer risk we are seeing in young people – Cancers in people under the age of 50 have been increasing at a rate of 1-2% per year over the last 15 years.”

But nothing is said about the <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/claraludmir/2023/06/27/why-genz-is-drinking-less-and-what-this-means-for-the-alcohol-industry/">years</a> of <a href="https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20220920-why-gen-zers-are-growing-up-sober-curious">coverage</a> on reliable trendlines <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/509690/young-adults-drinking-less-prior-decades.aspx">showing</a> adults under 35 drink less frequently and in lower quantities than any prior generation. Older cohorts are <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/30/health/seniors-alcohol-consumption.html">driving</a> the majority of alcohol consumption, and recent Center for Disease Control <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/databriefs/db374.htm">data</a> shows us that 5.1% of American adults are heavy drinkers, meaning a man who consumes more than 14 drinks per week and a woman who has more than seven. That slim cohort represents 75% of the cancer cases related to alcohol consumption.
If public health authorities are going to increase their focus on alcohol, it should be on heavy drinkers and tested messages of moderation and responsible drinking. 
Comparing the risks of moderate drinking to smoking is statistically false and misleading for consumers. The U.S. Surgeon General’s words carry incredible weight throughout the world, and like with California’s overzealous risk labeling system, Murthy risks squandering even more public trust in a public health advisory that can’t prove its own claims.

As Americans greeted their New Year’s Day hangovers with pledges to lay off the sauce, the Biden administration took a major step towards making every month Dry January.
Last week, Biden&#8217;s Surgeon General Vivek Murthy issued an <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2025/01/03/us-surgeon-general-issues-new-advisory-link-alcohol-cancer-risk.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advisory</a> “outlining the direct link between alcohol consumption and increased cancer risk.” Murthy wants health warnings on all alcohol products that mention cancer risk, as well as “a reassessment of the guideline limits for alcohol consumption to account for cancer risk.”
It may sound like benign bureaucratic jargon. But it’s far worse than that.
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-donald-trump-isnt-coming-for-your-tequila-but-kamala-might-be" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> in October, a secret committee working deep behind the scenes of the Biden administration is working to revise federal dietary guidelines regarding alcohol. The Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking (ICCPUD) is a six-person panel working within the Department of Health and Human Services. But instead of just trying to keep kids from drinking, this panel <a href="https://tomwark.substack.com/p/no-amount-alcohol-healthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> wants the United States to adopt the World Health Organization’s <a href="https://www.who.int/europe/news/item/04-01-2023-no-level-of-alcohol-consumption-is-safe-for-our-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">position</a> that “no level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health.”
Now, I love an “I told you so” moment as much as the next keyboard warrior. But this is no reason to gloat. The bureaucracy’s push to stop Americans from drinking is a dangerous development, and not just because it’s profoundly lame. It’s the latest sign of how leftists want to use the government to meddle in Americans’ daily lives. And it’s not even based on real science.
Murthy notes that “alcohol is a well-established, preventable cause of cancer responsible for about 100,000 cases of cancer and 20,000 cancer deaths annually in the United States.” He further notes that “for breast cancer specifically, 16.4% of total breast cancer cases are attributable to alcohol consumption.”
Much like Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/im-not-a-biologist-supreme-court-nominee-says-she-cant-define-the-word-woman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">I’m not a biologist.</a> So I have no reason to doubt these statistics. But whenever a government official starts calling for a total ban on anything for my own good, I get suspicious. Banning things that can be unhealthy when consumed in excess is the first step towards nanny statism and universal health care. It’s downright European.
Or, in this case, Canadian. As we previously reported, three of the ICCPUD’s six members are Canadians who helped slash the number of recommended drinks in their frozen homeland back in 2013. That recommendation didn’t even play well in Canada, a country that has basically thrown its hands up and accepted euthanasia and leaders like Justin Trudeau as inevitabilities.
The mere presence of Canadian health bureaucrats should be enough to disqualify whatever the ICCPUD recommends. But there’s also a <a href="https://www.nationalacademies.org/news/2024/12/new-report-reviews-evidence-on-moderate-alcohol-consumption-and-health-impacts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">new study</a> from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Math, which found that “compared with never consuming alcohol, moderate alcohol consumption is associated with lower all-cause mortality.”
That study is hardly biased towards alcohol. In fact, it includes the same cancer statistics that Murthy cites in his advisory. But it also looks at other areas, and finds that moderate alcohol consumption is associated with a lower risk of both heart attack and stroke, compared to never drinking at all.

There’s also a recent <a href="https://harvardpublichealth.org/policy-practice/is-alcohol-bad-for-you-or-is-alcohol-good-for-you-yes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harvard study</a> that found moderate drinking lowered blood sugar and was associated with lower rates of diabetes as well as lower rates of “thyroid cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and renal cell carcinoma.” Looking at the whole board, the authors conclude that “the data do not justify sweeping statements about the [negative] effects of moderate alcohol consumption on human health.”
Murthy probably won’t get his warning labels. Such a change would require congressional approval, and if the <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/03/surgeon-general-alcohol-cancer-congress-00196399" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bipartisan opposition</a> to the new drinking guidelines is any indication, it seems unlikely that Congress would vote to slap cancer warnings on liquor bottles.
But Murthy’s advisory is telling nonetheless. Biden is packing up the Oval Office, and his Surgeon General is trying to bring back Prohibition. That would be shocking, if his boss wasn’t spending this time trying to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-races-to-sell-off-border-wall-parts-before-trump-takes-office" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sell off pieces</a> of the border wall, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disgraceful-decision-trump-press-secretary-blasts-bidens-move-to-block-more-offshore-drilling?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stop offshore drilling</a>, and smuggle in all sorts of policies that would hamstring the incoming Trump administration.
It’s a troubling reminder of how Democrats act when they have power, and of what their priorities will be the next time they take the White House. Fortunately, we won’t have to deal with that for at least the next four years.

The story comes just as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/your-story-is-horsesh-hegseths-colleagues-fiercely-defend-him-after-nbc-news-attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> ran a hit piece — citing a number of anonymous sources, but apparently not bothering to speak to his former cohosts and colleagues at Fox News — accusing Hegseth of drinking to excess on a regular basis.

With just 34 days until the election, Vice President Kamala Harris is pulling out all the stops. She’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-plays-border-hawk-in-first-border-visit-as-democratic-nominee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">going to the border</a>. She’s busting out <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamalas-new-campaign-accent-has-people-comparing-her-to-classic-cartoon-character" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously-unheard accents</a>. And she’s telling voters that former President Donald Trump is coming for their booze.
Earlier this month, the Harris campaign <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/harris-alcohol-prices-trump-tariff-plan-1235113532/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launched</a> “Trump’s Tequila Tax,” a social media push aimed at convincing voters that Trump’s tariff proposals would cause imported alcohol prices to skyrocket.
“He wants to tax your tequila, and your Coronas, your Modelos, your Hennessy, all of it,” a campaign surrogate says in a TikTok.

If one wanted to engage in a little armchair psychology, one might say that Harris is projecting. Because if she wins the White House in November, there might not be any tequila to tax in the United States.
Under Harris and President Joe Biden, an obscure bureaucratic committee has been drafting new guidance, which, if adopted, would recommend that Americans never drink — at all. While these guidelines would not ban alcohol outright, they could, as <a href="https://reason.com/2024/08/10/the-secret-committee-behind-americas-prohibition-comeback/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reason reports</a>, lead to a wave of bad press and a slew of class action lawsuits against alcohol companies. Together, that could cripple an already-faltering alcohol industry.
This is hardly the first instance of the Biden-Harris administration attempting to meddle in Americans’ lives in the name of “public health.” Biden proposed banning <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-reverses-course-on-banning-menthol-cigarettes-over-fear-of-angering-black-voters-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">menthol cigarettes</a> early in his term, only to reverse course earlier this year when it became clear the ban would make then-candidate Biden unpopular among black voters. And the White House has come under fire for its attempt to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-official-who-supports-gas-stove-crackdown-has-a-gas-stove-in-his-own-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ban gas stoves</a> in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
But unlike the Biden-Harris administration’s attempts to ban gas stoves and menthol cigarettes — both of which received ample media coverage and public scrutiny — the effort to change alcohol guidelines has taken place behind closed doors.
Federal dietary guidelines are updated every five years by the Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services. For the current revision, HHS has <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2024/08/06/alcohol-dietary-guidelines-congress-koob/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">kicked</a> the alcohol question to something called the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking (ICCPUD). The committee is, <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/opinion/2024/08/03/dietary-guidelines-alcohol-consumption/74595108007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a “secretive, six-person panel” that “operates deep within” HHS, far from the public eye.
Currently, the federal government <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/about-alcohol-use/moderate-alcohol-use.html#:~:text=to%20not%20drinking.-,Moderate%20drinking,or%20less%20in%20a%20day." target="_blank" rel="noopener">defines</a> “moderate drinking” as two daily drinks or less for men, and one for women. But <a href="https://tomwark.substack.com/p/no-amount-alcohol-healthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sources</a> close to the ICCPUD say the committee is close to adopting the World Health Organization’s 2023 <a href="https://www.who.int/europe/news/item/04-01-2023-no-level-of-alcohol-consumption-is-safe-for-our-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaration</a>: “No level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health.”
It may seem strange that an American agency would so wholeheartedly embrace the WHO’s position, particularly since it’s at odds with longstanding federal recommendations.
But it’s less shocking when you consider that three members of the six-person committee are literally Canadian — like, they live in Canada. It’s even less shocking when you realize that those three Canadian panelists were instrumental in imposing similar guidance at home, <a href="https://reason.com/2024/08/10/the-secret-committee-behind-americas-prohibition-comeback/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slashing</a> Canadians’ recommended weekly drink intake in 2013 from 15 for men and 10 for women to two across the board.
That recommendation was so controversial it came under fire in Canada, a country where shady, unelected bureaucrats already govern what kind of drugs <a href="https://www.canada.ca/en/patented-medicine-prices-review.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">patients can take</a>, and whether or not someone is eligible for <a href="https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/health-services-benefits/medical-assistance-dying.html#a2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elective euthanasia</a>. Imagine how it’ll play in the United States, a country that almost started a whole <a href="https://www.mountvernon.org/library/digitalhistory/digital-encyclopedia/article/whiskey-rebellion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">second Revolutionary War</a> two years after the first one ended because the government tried to tax whiskey.
In fact, the ICCPUD maneuverings are already so unpopular that they’ve spurred waves of bipartisan opposition. In April, Reps. James Comer (R-KY) and Lisa McClain (R-MI) <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Letter-to-HHS-re-alcohol-review.pdf">wrote</a> to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra expressing concern that the Dietary Guidelines revision may be violating federal law. By September 5, Becerra had not responded to Comer and McClain’s request for information, prompting the lawmakers to send a follow-up <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/comer-issues-subpoenas-to-hhs-and-usda-for-docs-related-to-development-of-alcohol-consumption-guidelines%EF%BF%BC/">letter</a>.
In the intervening months, two separate bipartisan groups of lawmakers wrote to Becerra, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, and NIH Director George F. Koob, to express concern about the opacity and legality of the revision process and request further clarification on what the ICCPUD would decide and when.

So far, they haven’t heard back.
It’s unclear if Harris will allow the committee to impose its new guidelines should she win the White House — but signs indicate that she will. She was presumably on board with her administration’s plans to ban menthols and gas stoves, and has previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamalas-campaign-says-she-will-not-push-medicare-for-all-she-fully-supported-it-5-years-ago" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsed</a> remaking the American healthcare system to look more like Canada’s.
She certainly won’t face any pushback from Tim Walz, who imposed a <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/3118502/zynsurrection-walz-zyn-tax-minnesota/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">95% tax on Zyn nicotine pouches</a> as Governor of Minnesota. Nothing goes better with no drinks like unaffordable nicotine.
It’s ironic that Harris, who has made so much hay about Trump’s “secret” plan to remake the federal bureaucracy, is currently overseeing a behind-closed-doors push to completely upend American dietary guidelines. Of course, unlike Project 2025, the ICCPUD’s proceedings are not public, nor the subject of any headlines. And, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-again-addresses-project-2025-says-dems-are-engaging-in-pure-disinformation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unlike Trump</a>, Harris has not disavowed, nor even acknowledged, this effort to stop Americans from enjoying the occasional drink.
That’s about as ironic as her saying Trump’s coming for your tequila.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jessica-simpson-responds-to-claims-her-weight-loss-due-to-ozempic">Jessica Simpson</a> hit back at a claim she’s started drinking after she wrote a post on social media celebrating her son’s birthday following nearly six years of sobriety.
On Monday, the 44-year-old singer posted a picture on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C-SjQtROrOn/">Instagram</a> of her son on his 11th birthday and wrote, “I’m gonna be a braggin’ Mom for a moment and just say that I have the kindest, most handsome 11yr old son on the planet.”
“Fun fact: we both find lucky pennies randomly every other week and use them to WIN my scratchers together,” she added. “Mama loves you Ace Knute Johnson- OH SO VERY MUCH!!!”
In the comments, someone responded in all caps, “Stop Drinking.” Simpson saw the comment and made it clear nothing could be further from the truth, <a href="https://people.com/jessica-simpson-addresses-claim-drinking-alcohol-again-8690839">People magazine</a> reported.
“I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family,” Simpson wrote.
“Thank you for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood,” she added. “Sending love your way.”

Rapper <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/machine-gun-kelly">Machine Gun Kelly</a> revealed that he’s “completely sober from everything” and credited his girlfriend actress Megan Fox with helping make it happen.
Speaking on the “Dumb Blonde” <a href="https://dumbblondepodcast.com/?_sm_nck=1">podcast</a>, the 34-year-old singer said that he’s been sober for over a year now after he secretly entered a rehab facility in 2023, something only those very closest to him knew, <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/machine-gun-kelly-completely-sober-rehab-praises-megan-fox-extremely-helpful-1235747392/">Billboard magazine</a> reported.
“I’m completely sober from everything. I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t drank since last August,” the rapper &#8212; born Colson Baker &#8212; said. “Megan has for sure been extremely helpful in dealing with the kind of psychological withdrawals that come with [sobriety].&#8221;
“I didn’t tell anybody outside of the [people] closest to me,” he added of entering a rehab facility. “That was my first time I ever went to rehab. They just gave me so many ways to operate the body, show where this anger is coming from, and methods to quell it.”
Baker said he met with psychiatrists and therapists before he accepted his “condition,” admitting he “went the f*** off” with drugs in his 20s.
“It’s a constant tightrope walk,” MGK said of sobriety. “I continue to embrace that this journey is gonna be hard for me, but I accept it and forgive myself. I’m also really hard on myself, very self-deprecating.&#8221;

The “Transformers” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/megan-fox-sets-the-record-straight-after-machine-gun-kelly-cheating-rumors">star</a> later took to social media and shut down cheating rumors as being the cause of their troubles.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/justin-timberlake">Justin Timberlake’s</a> attorney, Edward Burke, argued in court that the singer was not intoxicated when he was arrested last month for a DWI (driving while intoxicated) in New York.
During a hearing on Friday, Burke appeared in court without Timberlake and claimed that the cops screwed up when they arrested the 43-year-old pop star in Sag Harbor, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/26/entertainment/justin-timberlake-dwi-hearing/index.html">CNN</a> reported.
“The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI,” Burke said in a statement. “The police made a number of very significant errors in this case.”
“Justin respects law enforcement and the very important job that they do,” the statement added. “He cooperated with the police officers at all times and treated them with the respect they deserve.”

“He also respects the entire judicial process including the District Attorney and Judge who were in court today,” Burke continued. “But the fact remains, he was not intoxicated and they made an error in arresting him for it. We are confident that this charge will be dismissed.”
Surveillance footage from the night of the arrest shows Timberlake’s 2025 BMW driving down a deserted street near the American Hotel in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. The arrest report says Timberlake was stopped after a police officer noticed him ignoring a stop sign and “fail[ing] to keep on the right side of the roadway,” <a href="https://people.com/justin-timberlake-photo-shows-driving-before-dwi-arrest-8665820">People</a> noted.

The officer reported that Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
The report also noted that Timberlake said, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”
The “Cry Me a River” singer was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and was given citations for running a stop sign and failure to keep in lane.
An arraignment in the case is scheduled to take place in August, CNN noted.

Justin Timberlake Lawyer Argues In Court Singer Wasn’t Intoxicated During DWI Arrest

San Francisco is spending around $5 million a year to give vodka shots and glasses of beer to homeless people with severe alcohol addiction in an effort to cut down on calls to police and hospital stays, The San Francisco Chronicle <a href="https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/sf-free-alcohol-homeless-19446850.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The city&#8217;s &#8220;managed alcohol program&#8221; started during the COVID pandemic, but came under fire earlier this week after Adam Nathan, the chair of the Salvation Army San Francisco Advisory Board, posted a thread on X, saying he &#8220;stumbled upon the building where they have this program.&#8221;
&#8220;The location is an old hotel in SOMA,&#8221; Nathan wrote. &#8220;Inside the lobby, they had &#8230; kegs set up to taps where they were basically giving out free beer to the homeless who&#8217;ve been identified with AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder).&#8221;
Nathan said that while &#8220;some limited studies&#8221; on the strategy have shown &#8220;some promise,&#8221; he&#8217;s concerned about the amount of money the city is spending on the program and the way the program is set up, adding, &#8220;people in the program just walk in and grab a beer, and then another one. All day.&#8221;

Nathan said the city spends $2 million a year on the program, but the Chronicle reported that the &#8220;managed alcohol program&#8221; now costs San Francisco around $5 million a year. The city&#8217;s Department of Public Health says the program has served 55 clients and has grown from 10 beds to 20 beds, located in a former hotel in the Tenderloin district, an area known for its high rates of homelessness and drug use.
Shannon Smith-Bernardin, a UCSF School of Nursing professor who helped create the controversial program, argued that the goal of the program is to stabilize the alcohol use of the homeless addicts “so they’re not binge drinking or stopping drinking and having seizures,&#8221; according to the Chronicle. The San Francisco Fire Department said the program “has proven to be an incredibly impactful intervention” at reducing emergency service use for a “small but highly vulnerable population.”
In a 2020 article explaining the program, the California Health Care Foundation wrote, &#8220;Established in countries such as Canada and Australia, a managed alcohol program is usually administered by a nurse and trained support staff in a facility such as a homeless shelter or a transitional or permanent home, and is one method to minimize harm for those with alcohol use disorder,&#8221; Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/san-francisco-buys-vodka-shots-homeless-alcoholics-taxpayer-funded-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;By prescribing limited quantities of alcohol, the model aims to prevent potentially life-threatening effects of alcohol withdrawal, such as seizures and injuries,&#8221; the California Health Care Foundation added.

Other &#8220;harm reduction&#8221; programs run by the city for drug addicts have been criticized, including by Democratic Mayor London Breed who said in February that they are “not reducing the harm” and “making things far worse.” A man who is in recovery for heroin addiction also slammed &#8220;harm reduction&#8221; programs, telling the Chronicle, “Are we just going to manage people’s addictions with our taxpayer dollars in perpetuity forever? It seems like that’s basically what we’re saying &#8230; I think we should be spending that money on detox and recovery.”

Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Anne Hathaway</a> said she recently celebrated a major “milestone” amid her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sobriety">sobriety</a> journey.
The 41-year-old Academy Award winner said she’s been avoiding <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alcohol">alcohol</a> for five years now. Hathaway discussed the topic during a recently published New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/27/magazine/anne-hathaway-interview.html">interview</a> after being asked to share her thoughts on turning 40 and officially reaching middle age.
“There are so many other things I identify as milestones. I don’t normally talk about it, but I am over five years sober,” she told the outlet.
“That feels like a milestone to me. Forty feels like a gift,” Hathaway continued. “The fact of the matter is I hesitate at calling things ‘middle age’ simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today. We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything.”
The actress, whose films have grossed more than $6.8 billion worldwide, previously discussed giving up drinking in part because of the responsibilities of motherhood.
“I’m gonna stop drinking while my son’s living in my house,” Hathaway said during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2019. 
“I don’t totally love the way I [drink] and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings,” she continued. “I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school, I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one.”

The actress and her husband, Adam Shulman, are parents to Jonathan, born in March 2016, and Jack, who joined the family in November 2019.
She also spoke about going alcohol-free during a <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/anne-hathaway-cover-story">Vanity Fair</a> interview published last month.
&#8220;I knew deep down [drinking] wasn&#8217;t for me,&#8221; Hathaway said. &#8220;And it just felt so extreme to have to say, &#8216;But none?&#8217; But none. If you&#8217;re allergic to something or have an anaphylactic reaction to something, you don&#8217;t argue with it. So I stopped arguing with it.&#8221;
&#8220;My personal experience with it is that everything is better,&#8221; she said of maintaining sobriety. &#8220;For me, it was wallowing fuel. And I don&#8217;t like to wallow.&#8221;

“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/game-of-thrones">Game of Thrones</a>” star Kit Harington recently discussed &#8220;psychological scarring&#8221; and how becoming famous affected his life.
The 37-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">actor</a> detailed how he became dependent on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alcohol">alcohol</a> while starring in the hit HBO series. Harington shared details as part of an upcoming episode of the podcast “The Hidden 20%.” 
“People would treat me like the character. But in my life I didn&#8217;t feel like that at all. And that [led me to] some psychological scarring,” he said of his time playing the “Game of Thrones” character Jon Snow from 2011 until 2019. 
Because fans expected him to be like the character he played, Harington <a href="https://www.cinemablend.com/game-of-thrones-news/kit-harington-game-of-thrones-fame-mental-health-rabbit-hole">said</a> he tried “to project this image of utter sophistication and coolness about what I was doing but genuinely being sort of terrified about everything.”
“That is a dangerous rabbit hole to fall down because you find all of the bad stuff that people are saying as well as the nice stuff,” he added.
Harington said he entered treatment for alcoholism right after the show ended and wound up getting diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), per <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/01/game-of-thrones-actor-kit-harington-opens-up-about-mental-health-struggles-1235786247/">Deadline</a>.
“I realized that my life was hinging on this,” he told podcast host Ben Branson. “Luckily, it was the right place at the right time. I managed to forge a new life from there.”
Harington said his first rehab wasn’t a fit. He <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/01/game-of-thrones-actor-kit-harington-opens-up-about-mental-health-struggles-1235786247/">explained</a> that he “entered rehab drunk, sobered up in there, and went, ‘F*** this, not you guys in a circle. No, thank you.’”

His next experience at a treatment center was better and was where he got diagnosed with ADHD. “And I left that pretty quick and said, ‘I’ll try to deal with this by myself,’ which didn’t work after about four years,” Harington added. 
Now the actor spends most of his time with his family, including former “Game of Thrones” co-star Rose Leslie, whom he married in 2018, and his two young children. 
“My head wants to go to every other thing in the room at once,” he said of family time, saying that even though he is “sober” and present” at home, he sometimes gets “restless” while playing with his children.
