There was horrifying news over the weekend, and as you would expect, both the Democrats and their lapdogs in the media attempted to unfairly blame the Trump administration.
Deadly floods struck across Texas on July 4, and at least 90 people are feared dead as a result. The majority of those deaths, including at least 28 children, occurred in Kerr County.
This isn&#8217;t a rarity. Unfortunately, in these parts of Texas, there have been situations like this before. According to Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, the river rose 26 feet in 45 minutes, which is a shocking, shocking increase — and it happened in the middle of the night.

President Trump put out <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114806881411557795">a statement</a> saying that he had signed a major disaster declaration for Kern County to ensure responders would immediately have the resources they need:
<blockquote>These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost and many still missing.</blockquote>
Despite the fact that the Trump administration was working closely with state and local leaders in the wake of the tragedy, it didn’t stop the media from immediately spinning out a lie.
Whenever there is a terrible situation that occurs in the United States, the first move is to try to find the person to blame politically. Sometimes that&#8217;s justified. Sometimes it turns out that there could have been measures that were taken on a state or local level that could have prevented these things.
But notice how the media immediately turned to the national government as the source of the problem as soon as a Republican is in power.
Remember when there were those massive wildfires earlier this year in Southern California that ate up a huge percentage of the acreage? A lot of the blame fell on local leadership as well as on California Governor Gavin Newsom. That was putting the blame where it probably ought to lie, if you&#8217;re going to make public policy decisions. That’s because you&#8217;re talking about natural disasters, the first line of defense is the local government, and then the state government.
During the Lahaina fires in Hawaii, the first line of blame never went to Joe Biden. It always went to the governor of the state or the local leadership in Maui, which was appropriate.
But as soon as a Republican is the president, immediately the media spins it as the president’s fault. We&#8217;ve seen this for decades.

During Hurricane Katrina, the entire media decided that despite the fact that the New Orleans flooding was the fault of the state and local leadership, and the poor response was the fault of the state and local leadership, it was the responsibility of George W. Bush and FEMA&#8217;s failures that led to the problems.
The media are trying to do the same thing this time. They&#8217;re blaming President Trump for the deaths in Kerr County by suggesting that DOGE cuts to the National Weather Service were somehow responsible for all of this.
George Stephanopoulos, Mr. Clintonista, a Clinton apparatchik from back in the 1990s who is now perceived supposedly as an objective, neutral news anchor on ABC&#8217;s “This Week,” had <a href="https://x.com/BrentHBaker/status/1941867108624699499">this to say</a>: 
<blockquote>We’re also learning that there were significant staffing shortfalls in the National Weather Service&#8217;s offices in the region.</blockquote>
Al Sharpton, who, of course, is a clown, was on MSNBC claiming that all of this was happening because Trump was making cuts to FEMA and to the National Weather Service, saying: 
<blockquote>The incident comes as the Trump administration is making deep cuts to weather forecasting services and openly discussing shifting more of the burden for disaster recovery from FEMA to state governments.</blockquote>
Sharpton said this as Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader, nodded along.
Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of Meidas Touch <a href="https://x.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1941456923263631811">wrote on X</a>: 
<blockquote>When experts warned for months that the NDS ‘is being destroyed’ by rump’s personnel cuts, Howard Lutnick assured Congress that forecasting won’t be affected. Now TX officials are blaming a faulty forecast by NWS for the deadly impact of the storm.</blockquote>
There&#8217;s a big problem with this. It’s not true.
Kristina Dahl, Vice-President for Science at Climate Central, <a href="https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/cnr/date/2025-07-06/segment/19">told CNN</a>:
<blockquote>It&#8217;s clear that &#8230; many, many people did not see those warnings, did not have any chance to respond to them to get to safety before the waters rose, because they were rising so, so quickly. And so obviously there&#8217;s a need to investigate what happened and where that communications breakdown happened. But to be clear, the National Weather Service did its job in warning first to a large area to say there is flood risk in this area, and then over time, as the risk became clearer and clearer, they kind of refined those warnings and issued updates. But obviously the loss of life here really indicates how unprepared we are as a nation for disasters of this scale.</blockquote>
She is saying that the National Weather Service did its job.
Tragedy occurs in life. That’s reality. Not every tragedy is preventable. You do the best that you can.
There are no indicators, none, that DOGE cuts led to the failure of a federal response. This is an excuse by the media to attack the Trump administration.
According to Wired — which is definitely not a Trump outlet:
<blockquote>Meteorologists who spoke to Wired say that the NWS accurately predicted the risk of flooding in Texas and could not have foreseen the extreme severity of the storm. What&#8217;s more, they say that what the NWS did forecast this week underscores the need to sustain funding to the crucial agency.</blockquote>
The staffing levels were not just fine, they were actually larger than normal. The National Weather Service office in Austin, San Antonio, was staffed with five meteorologists throughout the storms on Thursday and Friday, according to NWS meteorologist Jason Runyan.
They usually have two when the weather is clear.

The Department of Homeland Security put out its <a href="https://x.com/DHSgov/status/1942282490653335622">own thread</a>, which stated:

The National Weather Service executed timely, precise forecasting and warnings, despite unprecedented rainfall overwhelming the region. Here is the timeline of NWS’s proactive response: 
Morning, July 3rd: NWS Austin/San Antonio conducts forecast briefings for emergency management, flagging flash flood risks. Morning, July 3rd: National Water Center issues Flood Hazard Outlook, identifying flash flood potential for Kerrville and surrounding areas. 1:18 PM, July 3rd: NWS issues Flood Watch for Kerr County, effective through Friday morning. 6:10 PM, July 3rd: Weather Prediction Center issues first of three Mesoscale Precipitation Discussions, warning of excessive rainfall and flash flood potential. 6:22 PM, July 3rd: National Water Center warns of considerable flooding risks north and west of San Antonio, including Kerrville. 11:41 PM, July 3rd: First Flash Flood Warning issued for Bandera County.

The National Weather Service provided over 12 hours of advance notice via the Flood Watch and over 3 hours of lead time for Flash Flood Warnings, with escalated alerts as the storm intensified.</blockquote>
This is a manufactured scandal out of whole cloth. But it shows you the tremendous, tremendous animus so many members of the media and the Democrats have for the Trump administration.
This pattern has been continuous throughout my lifetime. When there is a Republican president and there is a natural disaster, the immediate response is to blame the Republican president. When there&#8217;s a Democratic president and a natural disaster, the immediate response is to try to shift the blame to climate change, something that is utterly uncontrollable by mankind.
That is always the goal, always and forever.
The media and the Democrats are dishonest hacks.
And that’s putting it mildly.

Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> reportedly shelled out major donations — totaling half a million dollars — to a non-profit connected to MSNBC’s Al Sharpton prior to her interview with him.
The Washington Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross reported on Tuesday that the Harris campaign shelled out two six-figure donations — $250,000 on September 5 and another $250,000 on October 1 — to Sharpton’s National Action Network. Just two days after the second donation went through, Sharpton aired a video of Harris wishing him a happy birthday — and on October 20, MSNBC aired a very friendly interview of Harris conducted by Sharpton.

According to Ross’ reporting, neither Harris nor Sharpton told MSNBC that the donations had been made.
Harris has faced scrutiny over finances since the campaign ended with her team over $20 million in debt even after raising well over $1 billion in just three months. Payments to celebrities for concerts and appearances at rallies have been questioned, including over $1 million paid to former talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s production team and a six-figure rebuild of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast set so that she could give the interview from Washington, D.C.

Other major expenditures included hundreds of thousands for private air travel, along with six-figure donations to minority groups with whom she was struggling to make headway.

Harris spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on an initiative to appeal to black church voters. Two of the organizations, Black Church PAC and the Institute of Church Administration and Management ($250,000), are linked to Frederick Haynes, <a href="https://freebeacon.com/elections/kamalas-criminal-justice-reform-comrade-accused-israel-and-america-of-apartheid-in-fiery-sermon-after-hamas-attack/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an anti-Israel pastor</a> who has worked with Harris for years on liberal causes.</blockquote>
Despite the lingering questions surrounding the Harris campaign’s spending habits, the VP has reportedly suggested that she would be open to running again in 2028 — either for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination or for governor of her home state of California.

On Thursday, Rev. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/al-sharpton" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Al Sharpton</a> compared anti-Israel protests on university campuses to the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021, the latest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/msnbc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MSNBC</a> personality to do so this week.
The comment was made during a &#8220;Morning Joe&#8221; segment with the show&#8217;s co-hosts, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, while images of police moving in on an encampment at UCLA were shown on the screen.
&#8220;How do the Democrats, how do all of us on that side, say January 6th was wrong if you can have the same pictures going on on college campuses? You lose the moral high ground,&#8221; Sharpton said.
As he spoke, Brzezinski interjected, &#8220;Good Lord, don&#8217;t make a parallel to January 6th. For some reason that&#8217;s not allowed. Scarborough added, &#8220;That has happened, though.&#8221;

Last week on Fox Business, anchor Maria Bartiromo mentioned January 6 while discussing the pro-Palestinian demonstrations that have spurred concerns about the safety of Jewish students at colleges such as Columbia University.

And yet, you don&#8217;t see the upset that you saw around January 6, you don&#8217;t see the upset that you saw in other situations like this,&#8221; Bartiromo <a href="https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1782763239274697136" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during an interview with Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO).
Liberal comedian Bill Maher <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/keep-marching-for-hamas-kids-bill-maher-says-campus-protesters-just-dont-get-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">critiqued</a> the anti-Israel demonstrations during a conversation with UFC president Dana White on his “Club Random” podcast, suggesting there are other issues in the Middle East more worthy of protests than &#8220;marching for Hamas.&#8221;
Maher also warned of the political implications, especially in a presidential election year, saying, &#8220;I keep trying to tell the Left this every week. Like — the more you do crazy sh**, the more you push the people in the middle to the Right.&#8221;

Al Sharpton Becomes Latest MSNBC Personality To Compare Anti-Israel Protests To January 6

One pattern that has emerged over the past four presidential elections — ever since Barack Obama — is that the national conversation, as directed by the media, shifts back to race right around the time that the primaries are wrapping up. 
Of course, the primaries are technically still happening on the GOP side if you count Nikki Haley as a real presidential candidate. When you realize that she is, at this point, simply running to be the next overpaid CNN contributor, you understand the primaries ended weeks ago, which means it is now time for the race cycle to begin anew.
Right on cue, MSNBC released a new special this month called “Black Men In America: The Road to 2024.” Now, based on the title, based on the timing, based on the fact that it’s MSNBC, you might assume that the show automatically is going to consist of a bunch of mindless race-baiting. You might make that presumption without seeing a single second of it. You might write it off, without giving it a chance, under the assumption that it’s going to be nothing but idiotic, dim-witted racial grievance mongering. You might assume all of that. And you would of course be entirely correct.
Yet, as you’ll see in the clip I’m about to show you, it still manages to limbo its way under the incredibly low bar that you have set for it in your mind. Watch:

As you could see, that’s Ben Crump pretending to shoot pool with Al Sharpton. In other words, it’s neo-Al Sharpton with old Al Sharpton. It’s broadband Al Sharpton with Dial-Up Al Sharpton. Ben Crump is what happens if you clone Al Sharpton but you remove his hair and his three brain cells. Because that’s the thing you notice about Crump. He is, objectively speaking — and I say this in a medical sense, and not as an insult — a moron. In fact, his very existence single-handedly, and ironically, disproves systemic racism. There is simply no way that a black guy this aggressively mediocre, this consistently unimpressive, this simple-minded and ridiculous, could ever achieve the success he has achieved in a country that was systemically racist against black guys.
Sure, even in a country with systemic racism you could still end up with brilliant and innovative people who manage to succeed in spite of it. The existence of successful black people doesn’t in and of itself disprove systemic racism. A million other things disprove it, but not that. But Ben Crump, specifically? This guy? You want to tell me this guy rose to the top despite having the entire system arrayed against him?
No, the truth is obviously quite the opposite. The system favors guys like Crump, which is the only reason anyone knows his name. By all rights the pinnacle of this dude’s career should be a position no higher than shift manager at Wendy’s — with no disrespect intended to shift managers at Wendy’s. The point is that his wealth and success is entirely a product of a system designed to move mediocre half-wits like himself to the front.

As if to prove my point, what does he say? What’s the great insight he offers the world? Well, he says that we can get rid of all the crime in America overnight by changing the definition of crime. He’s right, of course. “Crime” is a legal designation. If you stop applying that legal designation to things, then it will not be applied to thing, and therefore you have gotten rid of the designation. Stop calling murder, robbery, and rape “crimes,” and — just like that, presto chango — the crimes of murder, robbery, and rape have disappeared. This is evidently what Crump, a guy who somehow earned a law degree, wants to see happen.
Of course, the problem is that by getting rid of the crimes of murder, robbery, and rape, you have not gotten rid of the actions of murder, robbery and rape. People are still being murdered, robbed, and raped — at what seems to be an even higher rate now — but it doesn’t count in the books. The assailants aren’t being brought to justice. The victims have nowhere to turn for redress. All the bad things are still happening, but the law is covering its eyes and plugging its ears and pretending that it’s not. That’s what happens when you “get rid of crime,” as Crump suggests.
In fact every major city in America has adopted a strategy like this, to one degree or another. Every major city, thanks in large part to Soros-funded Marxist DAs, has decided to reduce crime by not fighting it. They’ve decided to create fewer criminals by not calling the criminals “criminals.” As a result, most of these places are unlivable hellscapes. Which is not a problem for Crump, whose firm rakes in tens of millions of dollars a year. He’s not living in these crime-infested sewers that ambulance-chasing con artists like himself have helped to create.
Crump then goes on to claim that laws have the effect of “criminalizing black culture.” He gives the example of Eric Garner, who died while police attempted to take him into custody for selling loose cigarettes. Now, the law against loose cigarettes isn’t as important or essential as laws against murder and robbery, but the policy does make perfect sense. You aren’t allowed to buy a pack of cigarettes from the convenience store and then stand outside the convenience store selling each individual cigarette to people walking by on the street. Why? Well, that’s not very fair to the convenience store, for one thing. For another, there are all kinds of additional laws governing the sale of tobacco products — laws that cannot be enforced if people are allowed to walk around hawking individual cigarettes on the street corner.
It’s not the most important law, but it is a law, and it’s one that makes plenty of sense. The question in this case is why Eric Garner couldn’t just follow the law. Is it “black culture” to simply disregard whatever law you personally find inconvenient? That seems to be the claim Crump is making. But all of that is irrelevant anyway. Garner didn’t die because he sold loose cigarettes. Cops didn’t show up and stage a public execution as a penalty for selling loosies, as they’re called. No, they tried to arrest him, he resisted, and in the struggle he lost his life. Why resist? What is that going to achieve? What possible good can come from it? Even if you disagree with the law you broke. Even if you didn’t break a law at all. Even if you’re being falsely accused. Even if you’re innocent. No matter the situation, how does resisting arrest help your case at all? What good will it do you? What is the plan? Walk me through the steps: Step 1) Resist arrest. Step 2) Unknown. Step 3) You get to go home and have a pleasant day.
What happens in that second step? What did Eric Garner, or any of these BLM martyrs, think that second step would be? Did he think that if he declined to be arrested, the cops would just say, “Oh, you don’t want to be arrested? You’d prefer not to be arrested this particular afternoon? Well, never mind then, good sir. Please be on your way. Our apologies.” Was that the idea?
Well, we know the answer. There was no thought process behind it. He didn’t have any ideas at all. He was acting in a totally thoughtless, self-destructive manner, and responding to a situation in a way that was guaranteed to make the situation worse, no matter what. Is that black culture, according to Crump?

Crump also mentions George Floyd. He says Floyd was another man arrested for participating in black culture. What was the culture in that case? Floyd was trying to pass off a forged $20 bill. Is that black culture? He was overdosing on fentanyl. Is that black culture? I’m not asking these questions rhetorically. I would really like to hear Crump answer. I would like to know what he considers “black culture” to be. I would not personally call any of that black culture, but I will say that if it was black culture, then the culture needs to change. If your culture — as Crump seems to think — involves disregarding the law, being self-destructive, making decisions that are guaranteed to introduce more chaos and violence into your life and your community, then your culture is deeply flawed, terminally sick, and needs to change. 
The law doesn’t need to accommodate your culture. Your culture needs to accommodate the fact that it exists in a civilized society with laws.
Naturally, Crump only talks about the laws against loose cigarettes and milk cartons and baggy pants — as if anyone is actually being arrested for having baggy pants. He completely ignores the obvious fact that black men are arrested every day, in every city in America, for committing actual violent crimes. Young black men aren’t landing in prison because of their milk cartons and ill-fitting pants. But Crump, of course, doesn’t want to acknowledge that. Because he is a liar, and he’s evil, and he doesn’t care how many people die, or how many black men get themselves killed by making the worst possible decisions, as long as he can personally profit off of it.
I began this by saying that Crump is stupid. And he certainly is. You can’t listen to him for more than five seconds without arriving at that conclusion. But like any other race baiter, he also knows exactly what he’s doing. He pretends to speak up for “black culture” — whatever he thinks that is — while at the same time doing everything he can to make black communities more dangerous, poorer, bleaker, more miserable. 
It’s not the white man keeping black communities down. It’s men like Ben Crump. And he deserves to be held accountable for it.

Sharpton asked whether there could be &#8220;some kind of public pressure&#8221; put on senators to the effect of, &#8220;Why are you allowing this to continue?&#8221;
&#8220;Because at the end of the day, senators have to deal with their voters,&#8221; Sharpton said.
&#8220;And at the same, in the bill you give money to Gaza, to civilians in Gaza, and Israel,&#8221; Sharpton said. &#8220;But the border, I mean, we’re looking every day at the invasion of migrants, and they are playing a time game with politics on this?&#8221;
Cities including New York City, Chicago, and Denver are struggling to metabolize an influx of hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants who have arrived since spring, 2022.
Texas has sent more than 100,000 migrants to sanctuary cities to ease the strain on border towns.
Last week, several illegal migrants were arrested after allegedly beating up NYPD officers near Times Square. Several were subsequently released without bail.
Former President Donald Trump has been criticized by the media for repeatedly using the term &#8220;invasion&#8221; to refer to the hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants crossing the porous southern border.
As recently as December, an article in The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/18/trump-immigrants-invasion-dehumanizing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> such language &#8220;dehumanizing.&#8221;
“This is an invasion. This is like a military invasion,” Trump said at a campaign event in Reno, Nevada in December. “Drugs, criminals, gang members and terrorists are pouring into our country at record levels. We’ve never seen anything like it. They’re taking over our cities.”
Trump, the clear leader for the Republican presidential nomination, has said he would spearhead the “largest deportation operation in American history” should he be elected president again later this year.
The former president famously kicked off his 2016 campaign with a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=247&amp;v=apjNfkysjbM&amp;embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&amp;source_ve_path=MzY4NDIsMzY4NDIsMzY4NDIsMjg2NjY&amp;feature=emb_logo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speech</a> that focused heavily on illegal immigration, saying Mexico was &#8220;not sending their best.&#8221;
&#8220;They&#8217;re bringing drugs. They&#8217;re bringing crime. They&#8217;re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,&#8221; he said at the time. The former president&#8217;s emphasis on immigration helped make it a central issue of the election cycle.
Some figures on the Right took notice of Sharpton&#8217;s language on Monday.

Gay’s resignation came in the wake of numerous <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harvards-gay-accused-of-6-more-instances-of-plagiarism-in-new-complaint">plagiarism allegations</a> as well as her controversial congressional testimony on what Harvard is doing to combat anti-Semitism on campus after Hamas’ attack on Israel.
Steele also slammed Gay&#8217;s answer when she was directly asked by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) about whether calling for the genocide of Jews violated Harvard’s codes of conduct, and the president <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/their-statements-were-abhorrent-backlash-to-harvard-penn-mit-presidents-on-anti-semitism-continues-even-after-they-backtrack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> that it depends “on the context.” She added that calling for genocide is “at odds with the values of Harvard” and that when that kind of “speech crosses into conduct, that violates our policies.”
“She [Gay] couldn&#8217;t even answer that clearly,&#8221; Steele said. &#8220;She refused to answer it. So to me, I don&#8217;t have that much sympathy, and no, I don&#8217;t feel like I need to stand up for her because of the color of her skin,&#8221; she added.

In Gay&#8217;s resignation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/claudine-gay-to-resign-as-harvard-president-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a>, the now-ousted president wrote, in part, &#8220;It is with a heavy heart but a deep love for Harvard that I write to share that I will be stepping down as president. This is not a decision I came to easily. Indeed, it has been difficult beyond words because I have looked forward to working with so many of you to advance the commitment to academic excellence that has propelled this great university across centuries.&#8221;
Then Gay tried to diminish the allegations against her by claiming “racial animus” had fueled some of the criticism against her.
“Amidst all of this, it has been distressing to have doubts cast on my commitments to confronting hate and upholding scholarly rigor — two bedrock values that are fundamental to who I am — and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus,” she wrote.

New York will begin deliberations on reparations for slavery after Democratic Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kathy-hochul" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kathy Hochul</a> signed legislation Tuesday creating a commission to consider the race-based payments. 
In June, New York lawmakers passed a bill that called for a nine-member commission to “examine the institution of slavery” and “make determinations regarding compensation.” Three of the task force members will be appointed by the governor, three by the state Assembly, and three by the state Senate, according to the <a href="https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2023/S1163/amendment/A" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bill</a>. The commission will have a year to submit a written report on its findings and recommendations to the state legislature, the bill stipulates.
“In New York, we like to think we&#8217;re on the right side of this. Slavery was a product of the South, the Confederacy,” said Hochul, who was flanked by social justice activist Al Sharpton at the bill signing ceremony, the Associated Press <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/york-set-commission-consider-reparations-163629026.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. &#8220;What is hard to embrace is the fact that our state also flourished from that slavery. It&#8217;s not a beautiful story, but indeed it is the truth.”
New York joins other Democrat-led states that have established reparations commissions after California was the first to do so in 2020 followed by <a href="https://adcrc.illinois.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Illinois</a>. California’s reparations task force determined that the state was responsible for dishing out over $500 billion to black Americans even though slavery was illegal in California when it joined the Union in 1850.
The task force also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-reparations-task-force-approves-plan-giving-up-to-1-2-million-to-each-black-resident" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> a plan that suggested paying up to $1.2 million to black residents who descended from slaves or free African Americans who lived in the U.S. before 1900, and the state legislature is expected to look into the recommendations.
In New York, State Senate Republican leader Rob Ortt said that the commission’s recommendations would come at an “astronomical cost” to taxpayers and argued that reparations have already been paid.
“The reparations of slavery were paid with the blood and lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans who fought to end slavery during the Civil War,” Ortt said.

Along with the state of California, some cities across the country put together task forces in a renewed push for reparations which came in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and the ensuing demonstrations and riots in 2020. In Detroit, two members of the city’s Reparations Task Force — including one of the co-chairs — <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/members-resign-from-detroits-reparations-task-force-over-lack-of-progress-no-broad-strategic-vision" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stepped down</a> earlier this month, citing their growing frustration over the “lack of progress” and a missing “broad strategic vision” less than a year after the group was formed.
“I think, collectively, that group of people has different ideas about what reparations is fundamentally and we didn’t get to a place where we had a broad strategic vision,” said former task force co-chair Lauren Hood.

Lightfoot, who overwhelmingly won the city’s mayoral election four years ago but failed to advance to the runoff this year, will depart office next week. She will be <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-chicago-mayoral-candidate-defeats-moderate-rival-will-succeed-lori-lightfoot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">succeeded</a> by Brandon Johnson, the left-wing former commissioner of Cook County, who defeated Paul Vallas, the more moderate former chief executive of Chicago Public Schools.
Lightfoot said in a Monday <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tzIaWIfBys" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with MSNBC that she lost because of national political tumult that caused divisions in Chicago, which she admitted is a “deep-blue Democratic city.”
“We came up short, but I leave my office with my head held high,” she asserted. “What we, I think, taught our city and taught the country is how to operationalize equity, whether it’s historic investments in affordable housing, the environment, our youth, coming up with a public safety that wasn’t just dependent upon law enforcement first and only.”
Lawlessness nevertheless <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wake-of-destruction-the-legacy-of-chicagos-departing-mayor-lori-lightfoot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rose</a> dramatically during Lightfoot’s four-year tenure: there were 490 homicides in the Windy City as of 2019, the year in which Lightfoot assumed office, while murders soared to 772 in 2020 and 800 in 2021, marking an increase of more than 58% as nationwide Black Lives Matter protests occurred in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Lightfoot, who has a personal police unit with 71 officers assigned to protect her life, meanwhile <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-mayor-lightfoot-has-71-person-police-unit-to-protect-her-blames-trump-for-being-in-danger" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed</a> eliminating $80 million from the Chicago Police Department budget in 2020.
MSNBC contributor Al Sharpton asked Lightfoot whether she believes her race played a role in her defeat, even though her successor is also black. Lightfoot, who has repeatedly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lightfoot-out-as-mayor-says-she-was-treated-unfairly-as-a-black-woman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cited</a> her race and her self-identification as a lesbian when describing her defeat, claimed that the reelection strategy of former President Donald Trump relied on attacking “cities and mayors” like herself, referencing Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta and Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C.
“There’s no question, Reverend Al, that there are some people in Chicago and across the country that don’t want mayors like me to succeed,” she continued. “When the person with the biggest megaphone and biggest stage attacks you in a way that Trump attacked us, it unleashes a set of forces that are hard to control. Those dog whistles that were blown in 2020 are still resonating today, and it was fed by the uncertainty and the anger, and then funded by right-wing forces that wanted to take down a big-city mayor.”
Lightfoot acknowledged that her successor is even more left-wing than herself even as she said that Republicans had conspired to end her career. “Unfortunately the people who were jumping on the bandwagon of a Republican posing like a Democrat now got a democratic socialist as the mayor, so be careful what you wish for,” she remarked.
Beyond the city’s dismal record on public safety, Chicago also has the second-highest tax burden in the nation for combined state and local sales tax rates, according to a <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/sales-tax-rates-by-city-2021/?utm_source=Tax+Foundation+Newsletters&amp;utm_campaign=7f2ef02e5b-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_10_17_07_28_COPY_01&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_8387957ec9-7f2ef02e5b-429489705&amp;mc_cid=7f2ef02e5b&amp;mc_eid=a9b206fa6a#_ftn13" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> from the Tax Foundation. Lightfoot had introduced a property tax increase but reversed the policy ahead of her reelection campaign, according to a <a href="https://www.illinoispolicy.org/lightfoot-cancels-property-tax-hike-in-announcing-new-budget/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the Illinois Policy Institute. Prominent businesses such as food processing company Tyson, airplane manufacturer Boeing, constriction manufacturer Caterpillar, and hedge fund Citadel announced their exits from the city during her tenure even as Lightfoot said on her campaign <a href="https://lightfootforchicago.com/economic-development/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> that she created “an environment that supports and sustains entrepreneurs and workers who make Chicago their home.”

According to the Rev. Al Sharpton, President Biden told him last month that he <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/biden-tells-al-sharpton-will-run-president-2024-rcna50556">will run again</a> in 2024.
Sharpton claimed Biden told him his intentions at the White House in September.
“I’m going to do it again,” Sharpton’s National Action Network reported Biden told Sharpton. “I’m going.”
Biden had not publicly committed to running for re-election in 2024; Sharpton has claimed he was one of the first people to know Biden would run in 2020.
In an <a href="https://factba.se/biden/transcript/joe-biden-interview-60-minutes-scott-pelley-cbs-news-september-18-2022">interview</a> on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that was aired on September 18, CBS’ Scott Pelley probed Biden as to whether he would run in 2020, saying, “You say that it&#8217;s much too early to make that decision. I take it the decision has not been made in your own head.”
“Look, my intention as I said to begin with is that I would run again,” Biden replied. “But it&#8217;s just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen.”
A new poll from EWTN News and RealClear Opinion Research released on Tuesday <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/majority-of-catholic-voters-believe-biden-shouldnt-run-again-in-2024-poll/">revealed</a> over 58% of likely Catholic voters do not want Biden to run again. Only 17% of white Catholic and 28% of Hispanic Catholics thought Biden should seek reelection.
A Washington Post/ABC News <a href="https://docs-cdn-prod.news-engineering.aws.wapo.pub/publish_document/62135712-e40d-4c38-9ec3-d3b9218cad1d/published/62135712-e40d-4c38-9ec3-d3b9218cad1d.pdf">poll</a> in late September asked voters who “leaned Democrat” “Would you like the Democratic party to nominate Biden to run for president in 2024, or would you like the Democratic Party to nominate someone other than Biden as its canddate for president?”
56% of respondents said they would prefer someone else.
Ignoring polls showing Americans are fed-up with him, in mid-July President Biden snapped at a reporter who pointed out even Democrats don’t want him to run for re-election, “They want me to run.”
A New York Times/Siena College poll <a href="https://dnyuz.com/2022/07/11/most-democrats-dont-want-biden-in-2024-new-poll-shows/">released that week</a> showed that although 92% of Democratic voters would vote for him in 2024, 64% of them preferred someone other than Biden to run. Only 26% of Democratic voters wanted Biden to run again.
At the end of a garden party at the White House, a reporter asked Biden, “What&#8217;s your message to Democrats who don&#8217;t want you to run again?”
“They want me to run,” Biden bristled, prompting the reporter to fire back, “Two-thirds say they don&#8217;t.”
“Read the polls. Read the polls, Jack,” Biden snapped. “You guys are all the same.”
Undeterred, the reporter pressed, “A majority of Democrats say they don&#8217;t want you to run in 2024.”
“92 percent said I did. They&#8217;d vote for me,” Biden retorted, according to <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11008041/Politics-no-picnic-Joe-Child-screams-Biden-takes-selfie-White-House-bipartisan-picnic.html">The Daily Mail</a>.

Rev. Al Sharpton appeared on MSNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Morning Joe&#8221; with Joe Scarborough on Monday to claim that pro-life Christians have &#8220;hijacked&#8221; the Bible and Jesus.
Sharpton shared the remarks in response to the Supreme Court&#8217;s recent ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade and return laws regarding abortion to states.
&#8220;I am incensed and insulted they have hijacked the Bible and Jesus to distort and misquote, well it&#8217;s not even a misquote — create quotes that are not there to justify a right-wing kind of ideology that would take away the rights of women and then scheduled to take other people&#8217;s rights,&#8221; Sharpton <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/margaret-buckley/2022/06/27/pastor-scarborough-and-reverend-al-sharpton-give-sermon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Scarborough, according to Newsbusters.

Sharpton also criticized progressives for not turning out to vote in the 2016 presidential election.
&#8220;Well, look at what you got. What did you think would happen? You gave Trump three seats on the Supreme Court,&#8221; Sharpton argued. &#8220;You helped do this as much as that distorted Christian language, and we need to aggressively take both of you on and say step to the side and let folks that are clear-sighted and clear-minded save this country.&#8221;

Sharpton has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nothing-more-than-a-servant-of-satan-ministers-respond-to-senator-raphael-warnock-calling-himself-a-pro-choice-pastor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">often advocated</a> for pro-choice views, including his support for Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA), a black pro-choice pastor elected in 2021. Sharpton <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/al-sharpton-georgia-win-means-no-going-back-to-legal-apartheid">argued</a> that the victory signaled the end of “legal apartheid.”
“Here we have in the state of Georgia, a state deep in the heart of the old Confederacy, a state that voted to elect America’s first black vice-president in November, and a state that just voted to elect the Democratic Party’s first black senator. What does that mean about where this country is after four years of Donald Trump?” MSNBC host Scarborough asked Sharpton in January.
“It means that this country has really come back unto showing that we’re not going backwards to the days of legal apartheid or segregation and divisiveness,” Sharpton responded.
MSNBC has also regularly blasted pro-life views. In September, the network hosted civil rights attorney Jill Colleen Jefferson and her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-americans-are-like-suicide-bombers-msnbc-guest">radical comparison</a> regarding pro-life Americans.
&#8220;Having the right to an abortion is a constitutional right; it’s grounded in the right to privacy that is within the Constitution,&#8221; Jefferson wrote.
She later compared those holding a pro-life view to suicide bombers.
&#8220;What it reminds me of, quite honestly, is a suicide bomber — someone who feels like they have the right and the moral duty to mess up somebody else’s life for the greater good,&#8221; Jefferson added.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris">Vice President Kamala Harris</a> attended a Buffalo funeral Saturday for one of 10 people <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/buffalo-mass-shooting-suspect-had-been-flagged-as-troubled-a-year-ago-report">killed by a white supremacist</a> earlier this month and declared, “America is experiencing an epidemic of hate.”
The vice president and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff attended the memorial service for Ruth Whitfield Saturday afternoon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church along with the Rev. Al Sharpton. Whitfield, 86, was killed in the massacre at Tops Friendly Market on May 14.
“I cannot even begin to express our collective pain as a nation for what you are feeling in such an extreme way, to not only lose someone that you love, but through an act of extreme violence and hate,” said Harris, who spoke at the urging of Sharpton. “And I do believe that our nation right now is experiencing an epidemic of hate.”

Whitfield was on her way home from visiting her husband in a nursing home when she stopped to buy groceries, her son, Garnell Whitfield, <a class=" uOtk efBMc LIsPj wIScF " tabindex="0" href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/shoppers-regulars-retired-police-officer-victims-buffalo-shooting/story?id=84731033" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told ABC News</a>.
Whitfield is survived <a tabindex="0" href="https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/buffalonews/name/ruth-whitfield-obituary?id=34899200" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-t="{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;destination&quot;,&quot;t&quot;:13,&quot;b&quot;:1,&quot;c.t&quot;:7}">by her husband of 68 years</a>, Garnell W. Whitfield Sr., her children, and numerous grandchildren. Her funeral followed services for other victims of the mass shooting that were held earlier in the week.
Harris and Emhoff met with other families of the mass shooting victims Saturday, as well as with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.
The 18-year-old shooter, who The Daily Wire is not naming in keeping with a policy of depriving mass shooters of undeserved notoriety, allegedly live-streamed the murder spree on Twitch. Authorities said that the suspect, who allegedly drove some three-and-a-half hours from Broome County, New York, to the market because it is frequented by African Americans, recorded the horrific spree with a camera mounted to his tactical helmet.
Authorities suspect the shooting was racially motivated, in part because the suspect is white and 11 of his 13 victims are black. The barrel of the suspect’s gun bore “the N-word” spelled out in white paint, along with the numeral 14, according to The Buffalo News. A government official told the outlet the number refers to a 14-word statement that is popular with white supremacists. The suspect also posted a 180-page document that reads like a cross between a diary and a manifesto about a half-hour before the attack. In addition to support for white supremacy, the suspect&#8217;s document detailed his militant environmentalism and dislike of Fox News.
The mass shooting was followed by another horrific massacre May 24 inside a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/uvalde">Uvalde, Texas</a>, school by an 18-year-old loner. Two teachers and 19 children were killed in that attack.
