A popular leftist streamer who once claimed America deserved the 9/11 terrorist attacks claimed that the Republican Party was the biggest “terrorist” in the United States and around the world.
Hasan Piker, who once suggested Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott should be killed over proposed cuts to Medicare, made the comments during an appearance on the &#8220;Pod Save America&#8221; podcast on Sunday, where he claimed that the Democrat Party was not serious about being “anti-fascist.”
&#8220;I hate Republicans,&#8221; Piker <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvAN_N2OQJQ">said</a>. &#8220;I oppose them. I say that all the time. I think that the Republicans are far more damaging. The biggest terrorists, the biggest domestic terrorist in this country, the biggest terrorist internationally is the Republican Party. And not only that, but it&#8217;s just like, they &#8230; I want to fight against the growing fascist movement in this country.&#8221;
Piker’s comments come as he has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dems-are-scrambling-to-campaign-with-terrorist-groupie-who-says-america-deserved-9-11">boosted</a> politicians like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ro Khanna (D-CA), Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D-NYC), and endorsed Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA).
During the podcast appearance, Piker also claimed that Democrats were not pro-immigrant enough.
&#8220;On the one hand, you say Donald Trump is a dangerous force,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I see that. I recognize that. But then you turn around, and you take on his anti-immigrant narratives and anti-immigrant messaging from the 2020 election that you won and decide you&#8217;re going to be the sincere candidate that ends up, you know, dealing with the growth of migration in this country. It&#8217;s a failure.&#8221;
Piker, who has over four million followers between YouTube and Twitch, is known for his radical calls to action. Last year, he was banned from Twitch for comments he made about Senator Rick Scott.
&#8220;The reason why I&#8217;m saying, if you cared about Medicare or Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott is because — and not make him a prominent part of the Republican Party — is because he, to this day, is still also known as committing the largest Medicare fraud in U.S. history,&#8221; he claimed.
Some Democrats, such as Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), have distanced themselves from Piker while others have dodged questions about their association with him.

With the 2026 midterm elections fast approaching, Democrats have been scrambling to find new ways to connect with voters — particularly young men, a demographic with which the party struggled mightily in 2024 — and thus far, they appear to have settled on a popular streamer who claimed that the United States &#8220;deserved&#8221; 9/11.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sad-michigan-muslims-drove-dem-senate-hopeful-to-silence-on-khamenei">Hasan Piker</a>, who boasts over four million followers between YouTube and Twitch, has hosted Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ro Khanna (D-CA), Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D-NYC), and endorsed Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) — and is set to campaign with Democratic Michigan Senatorial hopeful Abdul El-Sayed.
Not all Democrats are willing to stretch the party&#8217;s tent quite that far, however, and have warned others not to welcome Piker too warmly.
Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), who is also vying for the Democratic Senate nomination, has accused El-Sayed of intentionally bringing in someone with a reputation for spreading &#8220;antisemitic rhetoric.&#8221;
El-Sayed defended his choice, saying, &#8220;If we want to have a conversation where we’re actually bringing people together about the things that we need and deserve, we’re gonna have to go to unlikely and uncommon places.&#8221;
He also defended his association with Piker — who said the sexual violence and rapes that occurred during the October 7 terrorist attack did not change his opinion that Hamas was &#8220;1,000 times better than Israel&#8221; — during a recent appearance on Fox News.
&#8220;America&#8217;s Newsroom&#8221; anchor Bill Hemmer asked El-Sayed, &#8220;With regard to October 7th, he said that what Hamas did is the lesser of two evils. Why saddle up with that?&#8221;
El-Sayed claimed that his interested in appearing with Piker was no different than his interest in appearing on Fox News, and was nothing more than an attempt to reach more potential voters.

The Bulwark&#8217;s Tim Miller and Sarah Longwell <a href="https://www.thebulwark.com/p/is-hasan-piker-toxic-or-gettable">debated</a> whether or not the Democratic Party would be wise to embrace Piker or reject him. Miller argued that although he didn&#8217;t agree with Piker&#8217;s politics, he thought that Democrats would be wise to appear on his show — and then said that if the party establishment were to shun him entirely, they would only make him more powerful.
Longwell laid out a number of the problematic things Piker had said, arguing that he was &#8220;all the toxic things&#8221; and his &#8220;worldview&#8221; was entirely incompatible with anything any Democrat in America claims to stand for.

The Department of Homeland Security is marking its 23rd anniversary Sunday, celebrating more than two decades since its creation in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, even as the agency finds itself in the crosshairs of Democrats amid a partial government shutdown.
Formed in November 2002 and formally commencing operations on March 1, 2003, DHS was established to unify the nation’s domestic security apparatus under one umbrella. Today, it oversees border security, immigration enforcement, cybersecurity, disaster response, counterterrorism operations, and maritime interdiction.
“As the threat landscape continues to evolve, DHS is there. By air, land, sea, or in cyberspace, the DHS workforce boldly confronts the threats our nation faces every day,” Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement marking the anniversary. “We are working diligently to prevent cybersecurity and terror threats, safeguard the southern border, reform our broken immigration system, and help Americans in the face of natural disasters. Our mission could not be achieved without your extraordinary courage and commitment. I am especially grateful to those of you who are serving during the current shutdown without a paycheck.”
With conflict recently erupting in Iran, Noem also emphasized vigilance at home, writing on X that she is “in direct coordination with our federal intelligence and law enforcement partners as we continue to closely monitor and thwart any potential threats to the homeland.”
The anniversary comes at a politically charged moment. DHS has announced it must take steps to preserve limited funds and personnel during the shutdown, even as it continues core national security functions.
Under President Donald Trump and Secretary Noem, department officials point to a slate of enforcement and security actions over the past year as evidence that DHS is fulfilling its founding mission.
According to a statement from the department obtained by The Daily Wire, Border Patrol has recorded nine consecutive months of zero migrant releases at the southern border, ending what officials describe as the Biden administration’s “catch and release” policy. DHS also reports that total border apprehensions during Trump’s first year back in office were lower than a single average month under the previous administration.
Over the last 13 months, nearly 3 million illegal aliens have left the United States amid the administration’s immigration crackdown, including an estimated 2.2 million self-deportations and more than 713,000 deportations, according to DHS. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the department says, arrested 1,538 known or suspected terrorists and removed 1,534, along with thousands of gang members tied to groups such as Tren de Aragua and MS-13.
That aggressive enforcement posture has fueled Democratic opposition and contributed to the funding standoff now affecting the department.
On the cybersecurity front, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency reports blocking billions of malicious connections on federal civilian networks and hundreds of millions more targeting critical infrastructure. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized more than 617,000 pounds of illicit drugs nationwide over the past year, including more than 10,000 pounds of fentanyl. The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted over 547,000 pounds of illegal narcotics — nearly three times its normal annual average — which officials say prevented hundreds of millions of lethal doses from reaching American communities.
DHS also highlights joint efforts with the Department of Health and Human Services to locate 145,000 unaccompanied minors it says were lost under prior border policies, as well as reforms to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) aimed at accelerating state-led disaster response. President Trump has approved 12 federal emergency disaster declarations in recent months, unlocking additional resources for affected states.
More than two decades after its creation in response to the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil, DHS is marking its anniversary while confronting both evolving global threats and immediate fiscal constraints. Department leadership maintains that the mission remains unchanged: protect the homeland and keep Americans safe, regardless of political or budgetary headwinds.

Kassem said that the appointment, to him, represented a chance to give back to the city he loved: &#8220;I grew up in war-torn countries in the Middle East, authoritarian regimes, and New York City was really my first stable and permanent home. This is an opportunity for me to repay that debt. I&#8217;ve been trying to repay that debt ever since I came to this country, ever since I immigrated.&#8221;
Critics argued that Kassem, who once represented al Qaeda terrorist Ahmed al-Darbi in court, was a strange choice to be chief counsel in a city that was devastated by an al Qaeda-linked terrorist attack on 9/11, 2001. Al-Darbi pleaded guilty in 2014 in connection with a plot to bomb the French oil tanker MV Limburg off the coast of Yemen. He was convicted in 2017, and in 2018, President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration transferred him to the custody of Saudi Arabia.
He <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/us-sends-saudi-detainee-linked-911-home-guantanamo-rcna19078">also represented</a> Mohammad Mani Ahmad al-Qahtani, who allegedly attempted to assist in the 9/11 hijacking and was held in detention at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for two decades. Kassem, who was teaching law at City University of New York at the time, had been working with students over the course of a decade to get him returned to Saudi Arabia. They succeeded in doing so in 2022.
In more recent history, Kassem represented pro-Hamas Columbia University agitator Mahmoud Khalil — and prior to that, he served in President Joe Biden&#8217;s White House Domestic Policy Council as a senior policy adviser.

New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, who has launched a gubernatorial bid, fiercely attacked Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, accusing her of “cowardly” silence after New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani endorsed Palestinian activist Aber Kawas for the State Assembly.
Stefanik declared that Hochul, having endorsed Mamdani’s successful mayoral run, now “owns” his decision to elevate a candidate whom Stefanik labels a “terrorist sympathizer.&#8221; She demanded that Hochul condemn both Mamdani’s endorsement of Kawas and what Stefanik described as the “anti-American and antisemitic filth” being normalized.
“Kathy Hochul endorsed Mamdani and now owns his latest public endorsement of radical activist Aber Kawas for New York State Assembly, a proud terrorist sympathizer and denigrator of the United States,” Stefanik said in a statement. “Kawas notoriously blamed America for 9/11 that claimed the lives of thousands of New Yorkers, citing the United States&#8217; ‘system of capitalism,’ ‘racism,’ ‘white supremacy,’ and ‘Islamophobia’ as justification for the terrorist attacks that killed New Yorkers. It is clear that Mamdani owns and controls the Worst Governor in America, Kathy Hochul, as she cowardly remains silent on the anti-American and antisemitic filth spewed by the incoming Mayor and his endorsed candidates. In 2017, Kawas stated that “the system of capitalism and racism, and white supremacy, et cetera, have all, and Islamophobia, have all been used to colonize lands, right, to take resources from other people, and so this is, like, a long trajectory. And we&#8217;re just seeing the manifestations of that continuation, right, with 9/11.”
The controversy erupted after Mamdani — a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the incoming mayor — <a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/17/mamdani-backs-palestinian-activist-in-legislative-race-where-battle-with-israeli-lobby-a-key-issue/">backed</a> Kawas at a closed-door DSA meeting. Kawas has a long record of controversial statements, including a 2017 panel appearance in which she framed the September 11 attacks as a “manifestation” of U.S. capitalism, racism, white supremacy, and Islamophobia — remarks that critics say blame America for the murder of nearly 3,000 people. Kawas has also defended individuals convicted of terrorism-related offenses, including synagogue bomb plotter Ahmed Ferhani and al-Qaeda financier Fahad Hashmi, whom she <a href="https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/socialists-unite-mamdani-throws-support-behind-behind-state-assembly-candidate-who-blamed-9-11-on-america/">described</a> as a “living martyr” whose imprisonment deprived activists of peace of mind.
Mamdani’s endorsement has also frightened Jewish New Yorkers already unsettled by his past rhetoric, including his affirmation of the phrase “globalize the intifada,” a slogan the U.S. Holocaust Museum has condemned because violence has been committed under its banner. Mamdani previously campaigned with a radical imam who spoke of “jihad” in New York City.
Within the Queens Assembly race itself, Mamdani’s move set up a clash with supporters of Brian Romero, the district&#8217;s longtime community figure and outgoing Democratic Assemblywoman Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas’s preferred successor. Both <a href="https://www.cityandstateny.com/politics/2020/07/meet-the-insurgents-who-are-likely-future-assembly-members/175792/">Gonzalez-Rojas</a> and <a href="https://www.cityandstateny.com/politics/2025/10/brian-romero-hopes-succeed-his-former-boss-assembly/408676/">Romero</a> are reportedly DSA members. While Romero’s backers emphasized his deep neighborhood ties — especially in a predominantly Hispanic district — Kawas’s supporters insisted a Palestinian candidate was necessary to “draw the fire of the Israeli lobby,” boasting that they “did it with Zohran.”

There is some good news out of New York. It&#8217;s not a lot of good news out of New York, but it&#8217;s some good news.
There&#8217;s a brand new poll from Suffolk University showing that in New York, Andrew Cuomo — who is really the only hope of stopping Zohran Mamdani in the New York mayoral race — is catching up to Zohran Mamdani. The poll found that Mamdani no longer leads Cuomo by 20 points or 15 points, but the lead is down to ten, and Mamdani is stuck at 44%.
Typically, when somebody wins the New York mayoral race, they win well over a majority. Here you have Mamdani at 44%. You have Cuomo at 34%, and you have Curtis Sliwa at 11%. There will be a lot of talk if Mamdani ends up mayor about why Curtis Sliwa stayed in the race.
The reality is that Curtis Sliwa is not going to be the next mayor of New York. And if his vote share is larger than the margin of victory for Mamdani, that will leave some questions to be asked.

As David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, says, Sliwa “is one person in New York City whose voters could have an outsized impact on the outcome.”

Most of his support has bled to Cuomo.

Mamdani is running a terrible final week of this campaign. He has decided that his closing message is going to be that New York City is famous for Islamophobia and if you don&#8217;t elect him, it&#8217;s because you don&#8217;t like Muslims, which is a wild statement in a city that suffered 9/11 (where apparently the only victim of 9/11, according to Zohran Mamdani, was his own female relative, who was wearing some sort of hijab on the subway and somebody gave her a mean look).
So now his final closing pitch is, “Why won&#8217;t you give me the mayoralty? If you don&#8217;t, it&#8217;s because you&#8217;re mean to Muslims.”
That is the mark of a person who truly feels entitled to everything. If you won&#8217;t give him the mayoralty of the financial center of planet Earth, it must not be because he&#8217;s a bad candidate, an out-and-out communist, a sympathizer with jihadists, but because you are mean to Muslims.

That quote from him in September 2023 shows him explaining that basically, his hatred for capitalism springs from his dislike of the “Zionists.” 
Mamdani stated:

Especially in New York City, you have so many opportunities to make clear the ways in which that struggle over there is tied to capitalist interests over here.</blockquote>
So you see, it&#8217;s really the Jews in Israel who are tied to the capitalist interests in New York City. And capitalism, of course, is bad. If you missed it, he said, “When the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF.”
This was not 15 years ago. This was two years ago. He was a full grown-ass man when he said this sort of garbage.
But if you point this out, you’re “Islamophobic.”
He only cares about “affordability.” How is he going to deliver affordability? No one knows. But if he just says “affordability” over and over and over, then affordability will magically appear in New York City. It&#8217;s like Beetlejuice. If you say affordability three times, then magically all of the rents go down.
He has no idea how he&#8217;s going to do anything. But that doesn&#8217;t matter. The reason people support Mamdani is because he&#8217;s “fetch” and he&#8217;s “brat.”
There are a lot of idiots in New York, and those idiots in New York are fully on board with the idea that if you don&#8217;t vote for Zohran Mamdani, it must be because you are some sort of racist, or because you hate gay people, or because you are one of those “capitalist tools.”
One can only hope that the non-idiots in New York will show up to vote.

We now know the real victim of 9/11. 
Zohran Mamdani’s family members.
Over the course of the weekend, Mamdani decided to talk extensively about 9/11 and his feelings about it.
At a press conference in the Bronx, he decided that the real victim of 9/11, the real true victim of 9/11 — where roughly 3,000 Americans were murdered in the worst Islamist terrorist attack ever — was his auntie, who, according to Mamdani, rode the subway and may or may not have received a mean look.
“I want to use this moment to speak to the Muslims of New York City,” Mamdani proclaimed. “I want to speak to the memory of my aunt, who stopped taking the subway after September 11 because she did not feel safe in her hijab.”
He is such a fraud. The fake tears. If you buy into this fraudulent human, you are a fool.
Zohran Mamdani has somehow transformed 9/11, the worst terror event ever on American soil and the worst event in the history of New York City, into a sad story about American Islamophobia.
Do you understand what he&#8217;s doing? The idea is that if he is not elected, the same Islamophobia will be responsible for preventing him from being mayor of New York.
The problem is not his pro-jihadist leanings, which we have detailed multiple times. The problem is not that he has stood for globalizing the intifada, or the Holy Land Five, or that he posed alongside an unindicted coconspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
That&#8217;s not the problem.
The problem — according to Mamdani — is all of you who are mean to him about those things because you are Islamophobic.
He&#8217;s doing the Norm MacDonald joke in which Norm joked that if there were a nuclear bomb set off by Islamic terrorists in the middle of New York City, he would be afraid for the real victims: the Muslims in New York City.
This is what Mamdani is doing now, and it doesn&#8217;t stop there. He&#8217;s making this a central plank of his campaign. Many of the things that people think of as bugs in the Mamdani campaign are features of the Mamdani campaign.
People look at Mamdani and say, “What a weird campaign. Why is he running on Islamophobia? Why doesn’t he just run as a normal progressive Democrat?”
They don&#8217;t understand. These features are the reason a bunch of left-wing Democrats are going to vote for him — and do so enthusiastically. Without the victimhood, he would be a nothing burger. A nothing burger stacked atop a nothing sandwich atop a gigantic junkyard of nothing.
It is the victimhood alone that has elevated Zohran Mamdani.

Now, you may say to yourself, “Wait, he&#8217;s not a victim. Didn&#8217;t his family immigrate from Uganda? Not exactly a nice place to live. And he still holds dual citizenship with Uganda. Aren&#8217;t his parents wealthy? Didn&#8217;t his dad teach at Columbia, and his mom have a career as a film producer? How could this complete, utter, useless human being, a leech on the fat rump of the United States, be a victim?”
The answer is that at some time, somewhere, someone gave him a mean look because of Islamophobia.
The term “Islamophobia” is very often just a cover for “Don&#8217;t criticize radical Islam. If you criticize radical Islam, that&#8217;s a form of Islamophobia.”
Islamophobia is a weird charge because when you look at someone, unless they&#8217;re wearing religious garb, it is very difficult to be Islamophobic. You don&#8217;t even know that they&#8217;re Muslim. Islam is a religion. Islam is not a race. If you saw Zohran Mamdani on the street, you&#8217;d have a hard time pegging his ethnicity, let alone his religion.
But according to Mamdani, the real problem here is for Americans to unravel an unreasoning, irrational fear of Muslims.
Every accusation from Mamdani is an admission. No one has engaged in more bigotry in this campaign than Zohran Mamdani. It is a form of bigotry to endorse “globalize the intifada,” and “Hamas should not disarm.” It&#8217;s bigotry against non-terrorists.
Zohran Mamdani is 33 years old. 9/11 happened 24 years ago — he was nine when 9/11 happened.
I&#8217;m about eight years older than Zohran Mamdani, so I remember 9/11 pretty well because I was a late teen already, and I remember the extraordinary efforts that the federal government, state government, and city government of New York went through in order to tamp down on “Islamophobia.” George W. Bush gave full speeches about how radical Islam was not the same as normal mainstream Islam, how radical Islam was a perversion of Islam, and that there shouldn&#8217;t be any sort of backlash against Muslims. Then the city of New York did the same thing.
Mamdani whining about the treatment of Muslims in a country that is wildly, wildly Muslim-friendly is totally insane. The city of New York, by the way, is now 11% Muslim, which is the same percentage of the Jewish population. We always hear about the big Jewish population in New York. And that&#8217;s true. The same exact population is Muslim in New York now.
Is there radical discrimination against Muslims in New York? By what metric?
How is it that Mamdani can talk about 9/11 and not spare one sentence for the actual victims, the people who leaped to their deaths from the 19th story of the World Trade Center, the people who were crushed beneath millions of pounds of molten steel? Not to mention the firefighters, and the people who got cancer years later from all the dust and debris.
Nothing for them, but his aunt, who got a mean look?
No wave of anti-Muslim hate crimes followed 9/11. Not in New York, nor anywhere else.
Without Mamdani claiming victimhood, he&#8217;s got nothing. Nothing. His program is trash. His candidacy is smugness and ugliness masquerading as kindness. He hates the things that make America go. He hates capitalism. He hates traditional Judeo/Christian religion. He hates traditional values. He hates America&#8217;s role in the world. That&#8217;s who this guy is.
And yet, somehow, this guy, who is apparently rich in the coin of victimhood and one of the least victimized people I have ever conceived of, is a victim.
There&#8217;s been a lot of talk on the Right about the death of wokeness, how wokeness is dying.
No. Wokeness is in remission. It is not dying. The cancer is not yet dead. Wokeness is in remission because wokeness is rooted in the idea that there&#8217;s an internal American victimhood system, and this class of victims cannot be identified by their level of success in American society or prosperity or notoriety. It can be identified specifically by levels of racial diversity and by nontraditional background.
As long as that matrix is undergirding everything that is happening, wokeness is not dead. It&#8217;s just waiting. It&#8217;s just waiting for a sunnier season to burst through the icy frost that has crossed the woke landscape.
There will be a thaw. Mamdani is the thaw, the green shoot of wokeness springing up beneath that permafrost.
That is what he is.

It has been 24 years since the deadly attacks on the U.S. that unleashed a decade-long war against Al-Qaeda and the hunt for its leader. Those who fought that war and participated in that hunt should be remembered and honored for it. 
I had the privilege to play a small role in the endgame of that search as we delivered justice to the killer of so many innocents. It is also good to commemorate the Americans who fell in battles with Al Qaeda before we acknowledged that we were, in fact, at war with that terrorist organization. Those pre-9/11 clashes included the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center and the 1998 bombings of the American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. 
It was the Al Qaeda assault on the USS Cole in 2000, however, that is seen as a precursor to September 11, 2001.
In 1779, when a British officer demanded the surrender of the USS Bonhomme Richard, John Paul Jones — founder of the American Navy — famously retorted, “I have not yet begun to fight.” That retort has been the credo of American sailors ever since. And it epitomized the reaction of every crew member aboard the USS Cole to the attack on their ship.

The documentary also provides insights into the efforts of the skipper of the USS Cole, Commander Kirk S. Lippold, and other military professionals, who navigate the limitations placed on their abilities to respond to terror threats in the pre-9/11 era, which are at once fascinating and deeply unsettling. Finally, the show documents the comprehensive investigation and relentless pursuit of the perpetrators in the wake of the attack.
The Al Qaeda attack on the Cole occurred on October 12, 2000. The U.S. Navy destroyer was making a routine refueling stop at the Port of Aden, Yemen, when a small boat carrying concealed explosives approached the port side of the ship. The two men on board made friendly gestures to sailors on the Cole, and then detonated their lethal cargo. The resulting blast tore a 40-foot-wide hole in the hull near the galley, at a time when many crew members were lining up for lunch. The explosion killed 17 personnel on the ship and injured 40 others. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack, which had been coordinated by operatives who had trained in Afghanistan.

As shown in the Big Media production, the crew of the Cole responded to the attack with extraordinary bravery and professionalism, working to triage injured shipmates and to deal with the extensive damage to the vessel. Within minutes of the explosion, medical personnel were rescuing, treating, and evacuating the wounded, many of whom were trapped under collapsed bulkheads. Sailors, a number of whom were badly injured themselves, fought flooding and fires for more than 96 hours, working without adequate sleep or food, often in total darkness and with the threat of further explosions. They did this despite the loss of key leaders, demonstrating great technical skill and courage in extremely hazardous conditions. With the assistance of nearby British Royal Navy ships and medical aid from the French military, the crew members saved the lives of injured shipmates and kept their ship from sinking. Later transported back to the U.S. for repair, the Cole remains in service with the Navy today.
&#8220;USS Cole: Al Qaeda&#8217;s Strike Before 9/11&#8221; also recounts the FBI investigation into the attack on the Cole. The Bureau dispatched more than 100 agents, lab technicians, and counterterrorism personnel to Yemen. Working with local authorities, FBI officers conducted witness interviews and collected evidence that resulted in a determination that Al Qaeda was, indeed, responsible for the Cole attack. In fact, it was tied to an abortive attempt to bomb another Navy ship, the USS The Sullivans, in January 2000. By the end of 2000, two men suspected of masterminding the bombing were arrested. Both subsequently escaped from Yemeni jails but were later killed in separate American airstrikes.
Another planner of the attack, captured in 2002, was shipped to Guantanamo Bay, where he was charged with responsibility for the Cole bombing and other terror-related offenses. Additional investigations and prosecutions identified numerous unindicted Al Qaeda co-conspirators. U.S. authorities have continuously pursued the remaining suspects. 
The lessons learned from the ordeal of the USS Cole and the investigations resulted in significant changes to U.S. Navy force protection protocols and U.S. counterterrorism policy. The documentary raises a key question over whether one of the key factors that contributed to the successful terrorist bombing of the Cole — and to the 9/11 attack — was that we were paying attention to things that distracted us from the threat.
Before the first plane struck the World Trade Center, we, as a nation, had not yet begun to fight. But the men and women of the USS Cole already had. And it is right that we should honor and remember them for it. In its portrayal of their courage, heroism, and sacrifice, the Big Media telling of their story does just that.

Cheers erupted for President Donald Trump at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night, as he was in attendance for the game on the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The Yankees recognized the 9/11 anniversary before the game, and welcomed &#8220;back to Yankee Stadium the 45th and 47th president of the United States,&#8221; showing the native New Yorker on the Jumbotron as the crowd applauded.

At another point during the night, many in the crowd began chanting, &#8220;Donald Trump! Donald Trump!&#8221; as the president waved from a suite.

&#8220;The fans were really nice,&#8221; Trump told Fox &amp; Friends on Friday morning during an interview in the studio. &#8220;You never know what you&#8217;re going to get in New York, but we got a tremendous applause because they love this country.&#8221;
The Yankees remembered 9/11 during remarks before the game, and the team&#8217;s scoreboard showed an American flag alongside the inscription, “September 11, 2001, We Shall Not Forget.”
Despite the warm welcome for Trump, his security remained intense. Fans were &#8220;strongly urged to arrive as early as possible&#8221; due to the heightened security, and the Secret Service encouraged fans to leave bags at home, according to the Associated Press. Trump watched the game from the Yankees owner&#8217;s family suite behind three panes of bulletproof glass, the Post reported.
Trump attended the game just one day after the assassination of his loyal supporter and influential conservative, Charlie Kirk. On Wednesday night, the Yankees observed a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-yankees-honor-charlie-kirk-with-moment-of-silence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">moment of silence</a> in honor of Kirk.
Trump spoke to the Yankees in their clubhouse before Thursday night&#8217;s game against the Detroit Tigers, telling them, &#8220;You&#8217;re gonna win,&#8221; The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/09/11/us-news/trump-cheered-on-at-yankee-stadium-by-fans-accurately-predicts-victory-youre-gonna-win/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter">reported</a>. The president&#8217;s prediction was correct as the Yankees, led by their star slugger Aaron Judge, beat the Tigers 9-3. In his first at-bat in the first inning, Judge launched a home run 413 feet to center field, and the Yankees&#8217; best player wasn&#8217;t finished, smacking another 434-foot home run ball to center field.
Judge&#8217;s incredible performance came after Trump praised him in the clubhouse before the game.
&#8220;You’re a fantastic player. … You’re an unbelievable player,&#8221; Trump told Judge, according to the Post.
Judge said that meeting Trump was “a surreal moment,” the Associated Press reported.
“He came in here, and he told us we were going to win, so I think that gave everybody the confidence in this room to go out there and do it,&#8221; Judge added. &#8220;I guess we’ve got to have him around more often.”
The Yankees also posed for a photo with Trump.
