The Democratic National Committee&#8217;s effort to explain and learn from its 2024 election losses has descended into fresh controversy after the author of the party&#8217;s official postmortem claimed Democratic leaders omitted an entire chapter examining what went wrong.
According to the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/us/politics/democrats-autopsy-2024-election-dnc.html">New York Times</a>, Democratic consultant Paul Rivera, who authored the DNC&#8217;s after-action review, says a 28-page chapter titled &#8220;What Happened in 2024&#8221; was missing when the party released the report in May after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-finally-admit-what-went-wrong-in-2024">delaying publication</a> for nearly a year.
The omitted chapter reportedly addressed some of the most politically sensitive questions surrounding Democrats&#8217; defeat, including whether former President Joe Biden should have sought reelection, the party&#8217;s declining support among key voting blocs, and what Rivera described as a self-enriching Democratic consultant class that had become disconnected from ordinary Americans.
&#8220;An emerging critique of Democratic decision-making is there are too many people who have become generationally wealthy off politics and drive too much of the decision-making within the ecosystem,&#8221; Rivera wrote in the missing chapter, which he provided to the Times. 
He also questioned Biden&#8217;s decision to remain in the race. 
&#8220;Is there a single point of failure for 2024? Perhaps it is a decision of the President to seek re-election instead of passing the torch,&#8221; the chapter states.
Rivera says he personally handed DNC Chairman Ken Martin a three-ring binder containing the completed chapter during a January meeting after Martin criticized the draft report. Rivera said Martin later returned the binder after reviewing it.
Martin denied ever receiving the missing section. 
&#8220;As we said at the time, in May we released all of the draft report as we&#8217;d received it from the author,&#8221; Martin said in a statement to the Times. &#8220;If we had this in May, we would have released it with the rest of the report.&#8221; 
Martin maintained that the January meeting focused solely on &#8220;lessons learned&#8221; materials for internal planning, not on new report chapters, arguing that neither he nor the DNC ever reviewed the disputed document.
The dispute comes after the DNC initially announced it would not release an official autopsy of the 2024 election, with Martin arguing the effort had become a distraction. He later reversed course amid mounting pressure, publishing an annotated draft in May while insisting it was &#8220;not ready for primetime&#8221; and refusing to endorse its conclusions.
Rivera told the Times he decided to go public because he believes Democrats cannot fix their problems without candid self-examination.
 &#8220;It&#8217;s coming from a place of hope and, honestly, a little bit of desperation,&#8221; Rivera said. &#8220;There&#8217;s a very comfortable ecosystem that will profit mightily from no change.&#8221;
The controversy comes as Martin is already facing growing scrutiny over his leadership. The DNC recently <a href="https://www.fec.gov/data/committee/C00010603/#&amp;_intcmp=fnc_media_article_main-content_article-body_6_2">reported</a> having roughly $16.3 million cash on hand while carrying $18.5 million in debt. Martin has also come under fire following <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/26/us-news/raging-dnc-boss-ken-martin-threw-phone-at-aides-desk-as-committee-forced-to-put-up-hq-as-loan-collateral-report/">reports</a> that he threw his cellphone at a staffer&#8217;s desk during an internal dispute, prompting a human resources complaint, as well as comments suggesting he was uncertain how much longer he would remain in the position.
With fewer than 100 days until the midterm elections, the dispute over whether Democrats buried the most politically explosive section of their own election autopsy will likely do little to assuage concerns about whether party leadership has fully come to terms with the reasons behind its 2024 defeat.

With the 2026 midterm elections fast approaching, Democrats are still at odds over whether to go public with the party&#8217;s internal post-mortem on the 2024 election.
Democrats in Congress, many of whom are up for reelection, appear to favor releasing the information — as does former Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost spectacularly to Donald Trump after being thrust into the nomination when then-President Joe Biden bowed out with just over 100 days to go.
The Democratic National Committee has opted not to release the report, prompting some skepticism from within the ranks.
DNC Chair Ken Martin referred to the 2024 autopsy as a &#8220;distraction,&#8221; saying in mid-December that the party should be fully focused on winning the 2026 midterms.
&#8220;Here&#8217;s our North Star: Does this help us win? If the answer is no, it&#8217;s a distraction from the core mission,&#8221; he said <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/12/19/dnc-2024-election-autopsy-backlash">at the time</a> — and he&#8217;s been facing criticism ever since over the decision to keep the post-mortem, for lack of a better expression, buried.
But the autopsy, which reads a bit like a military after-action report, as it breaks down what went right and what went wrong in any given election cycle, is supposed to be a tool that can help current and future campaigns avoid the mistakes and capitalize on the positives from past campaigns.
&#8220;Why haven’t we put it out?&#8221; Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) asked before answering his own question. &#8220;Because we got our butts kicked. I think it’s going to be embarrassing, apparently, to some people.&#8221;
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) argued that the report was being scuttled in order to hide mistakes, saying, &#8220;They don’t want people to know the truth. They messed up. They didn’t listen to their Democratic base.&#8221;
Jeff Weaver, who served as campaign manager for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in 2016, suggested that the move might be an attempt to set the stage for Harris to run again in 2028: &#8220;Kamala Harris certainly benefits from not having an open discussion.&#8221;
Others have also argued that Harris stands to benefit the most if the autopsy never sees the light of day, primarily because it could help her avoid renewed scrutiny of any mistakes she may have made during her abbreviated campaign. The DNC also stands to benefit from no one looking too closely at how, without a single primary vote, Harris was crowned the de facto nominee after Biden&#8217;s abrupt exit.
But Harris herself, according to a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dems-demand-release-hidden-dnc-autopsy-2024-collapse-got-butts-kicked?lid=mj809drs5uvi">report</a> from Fox News Digital, has signaled support for the post-mortem&#8217;s publication.
&#8220;I’ve said they should release it, and there’s no question,&#8221; Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) agreed. &#8220;The report got done. I think it’s good to always review why things were successful or not.&#8221;
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) was slightly more diplomatic in his approach, saying that he had no idea why the full report was still under wraps — and what&#8217;s more, he couldn&#8217;t speak to whether or not the DNC should release it.

Using @theDemocrats account on X, the party posted four photos along with the caption, &#8220;Some of our favorite moments from 2024.&#8221; One photo showed President Joe Biden wearing his usual aviator sunglasses despite being on the set of a late night comedy show. Another showed the president with members of the U.S. Olympic team. The last two showed Vice President Kamala Harris, first helping First Gentleman Doug Emhoff with a tuxedo and then waving as she stepped onto a rally stage.

The first video featured television&#8217;s Judge Joe Brown, speaking with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade, and answering the question that plagued many throughout Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; abbreviated campaign: &#8220;Who is Kamala Harris.&#8221;
Brown, clearly not a fan, referred to the Democrats&#8217; installed candidate as a &#8220;fraud&#8221; and said that her image had been &#8220;carefully crafted&#8221; to obscure the substance within.
The second video showed Harris complaining about the fact that Starbucks cups had white lids, mainly because if she wore lipstick and she was in a meeting where she was the only woman, getting lipstick on the lid was embarrassing.
The third was another clip of Harris explaining why the Biden administration had given TPS (Temporary Protected Status) to Haitian migrants — a move that resulted in a number of small towns struggling under the influx.
The fourth showed Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) warning people before Biden was ousted from the 2024 race that there was not a consensus among Democrats to support Harris in a bid to replace him as the nominee.

Heritage Action for America&#8217;s President Kevin Roberts called on Americans of faith to get out to the polls, warning that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> is the most &#8220;anti-religion&#8221; candidate the United States has ever seen.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t believe it is hyperbole to claim that Vice President Kamala Harris is the most anti-faith, anti-religion presidential candidate in our history,&#8221; Roberts said during a media roundtable on Friday.
Roberts, who is Catholic, drew on Culture Research Center <a href="https://www.arizonachristian.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/CRC-Release-Pre-Election-1-Oct-12-2024-Final.pdf">polling that found</a> only 51% of religious Americans are likely to vote in the 2024 election. According to that research, the other 49% of religious Americans who don&#8217;t plan to vote represents about 104 million eligible non-voters.
Roberts argued that they need to get to the polls — or they may lose their ability to worship.
&#8220;People of faith who are worried about the choice they are making really need to understand what&#8217;s at stake,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to lose our ability to worship. We&#8217;re going to lose our religious liberty if the Harris, Walz campaign prevails.&#8221;
&#8220;There are people of faith who are sitting on the sidelines, because they have forgotten that we&#8217;re electing a president, not a pastor,&#8221; Roberts argued. &#8220;None of us are perfect. I&#8217;m not perfect. None of you, dare I say, are perfect. We believe in the doctrine of original sin. Donald Trump therefore is not perfect. Even my Catholic friend JD Vance is not perfect.&#8221;
The Heritage Foundation president discussed how some religious voters may have qualms with Trump&#8217;s abortion policies. Trump has said that he would not sign a national law protecting the unborn — a move that some Republicans view as a political necessity, but many pro-lifers have taken as a betrayal.

&#8220;While certainly the position of Heritage Action and the Heritage Foundation is more robust than where President Trump is, [religious voters] need to remember the former president&#8217;s track record on this,&#8221; Roberts said, referring to Trump&#8217;s legacy as the president to appoint the Supreme Court justices to overturn Roe v. Wade. 
Trump is also the first president to attend the national March for Life in person, appointed a slew of pro-life federal judges throughout his time as president, signed an executive order protecting babies born alive in botched abortions, and significantly slashed Planned Parenthood&#8217;s federal funding.
 &#8220;If President Trump and Senator Vance are elected next Tuesday, there is a far greater chance of being able to work with them and the people they appoint on issues that matter to us, including abortion and including religious liberty,&#8221; Roberts said. &#8220;I think in contrast, there&#8217;s a 0% chance we get that opportunity in a Harris, Walz administration. On abortion, on religious freedom, people of faith need to be mindful of that.&#8221;
Harris has <a href="https://catholicvote.org/president-harris-what-catholics-need-to-know/">previously drawn fire</a> for suggesting that a Catholic jurist, Brian Buescher, was unfit to serve as a judge due to his Catholic beliefs, specifically suggesting that holding Catholic teaching on abortion and gay marriage is disqualifying for a judge. She sponsored the FACT Act as California&#8217;s attorney general, a law requiring pro-life pregnancy centers to post advertisements about where women can get abortions (the Supreme Court struck this law down several years later).
As California attorney general, she also <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/08/07/exclusive-kamala-harris-sent-agents-raid-pro-life-journalists-home-met-planned-parenthood-emails-show/">targeted pro-life activist</a> David Daleiden for his undercover investigations alleging that Planned Parenthood was illegally selling aborted baby body parts. Planned Parenthood <a href="https://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/congressional-scorecard">has repeatedly</a> given Harris a perfect score on their congressional scorecard, since she supports unlimited abortions and emphatically promotes abortion as &#8220;reproductive rights.&#8221;
Most recently, she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/religious-freedom-defenders-tear-into-kamala-for-denying-religious-exemptions-to-abortions">alarmed proponents of religious freedom</a> by saying she would not allow religious exemptions for abortions as president. Religious liberty advocates have said Harris was expressing support for unconstitutionally forcing medical professionals to violate their religious beliefs by performing abortions.

Former President Donald Trump and his campaign are gearing up for a mad dash to the finish line.
With less than four days left, Trump campaign announced an avalanche of events on Friday heading into election day. He&#8217;ll rally in Warren, Michigan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Friday, in Gastonia, North Carolina, Salem, Virginia, and Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, and Lititz, Pennsylvania, Kinston, North Carolina, and Macon Georgia on Sunday.
That&#8217;s all before Monday, the final day of his campaign, when he&#8217;s also completely packed: he&#8217;ll hold a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina at 10AM, Reading, Pennsylvania at 2pm, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 6pm, and Grand Rapids, Michigan at 10:30pm. By the looks of it, he may be rallying until the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, November 5.

Meanwhile, Vice Presidential Nominee JD Vance is in Michigan, North Carolina, and Georgia on Friday, and Nevada and Arizona on Saturday.
And a whole host of Trump surrogates are on the campaign trail until Tuesday: Robert F. Kennedy will be stumping for Trump in Wisconsin, Donald Trump Jr. will join Vance in Arizona, and the &#8220;Team Trump Women&#8217;s Tour&#8221; featuring top Republican surrogates will make a stop in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday night.
Tulsi Gabbard, Danica Patrick, and Sage Steele will also be campaigning for Trump on Sunday in Wisconsin, and Kristi Noem will speak at a Trump event in Holland, Michigan on Sunday night.
Kamala Harris has a slight lead on Trump in both Wisconsin in Michigan, while Trump has a slight advantage in Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, <a href="https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/2024/national/">according to FiveThirtyEight polling issued Friday</a>.
The Trump campaign will kick off a four-day bus tour in Pennsylvania on Friday, beginning in Limerick, Pennsylvania and ending in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Monday, November 4. It will make stops in Downington, Gap, Glenmoore, Broomall, Lansdale, Hazle Township, Lehighton, Bartonsville, Philadelphia, and Telford.
The bus tour will feature Trump campaign surrogates Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, Texas rep. Ronny Jackson, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, Indiana Rep. Victoria Spartz, former acting United States attorney general Matt Whitaker, former Department of Defense chief of staff Kash Patel, former White House deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley, and others.

“Team Trump is traveling across Pennsylvania to meet voters where they are -from diners to sporting complexes to construction sites,&#8221; Liz Huston, a spokeswoman for Team Trump, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Pennsylvanians are swamping the vote for President Trump because in her four years as Vice President, Kamala Harris has failed them.&#8221;
&#8220;On November 5,&#8221; Huston predicted, &#8220;Pennsylvania voters will flock to the polls to elect President Trump to secure the border, strengthen the economy and restore law and order.”
&#8220;Harris has made inroads among independents,&#8221; the Marist Pennsylvania <a href="https://maristpoll.marist.edu/polls/marist-pennsylvania-poll-u-s-presidential-contest-in-pennsylvania-november-2024/">poll release stated</a>. &#8220;She now leads Trump by 15 points among these voters and receives greater support among them than President Joe Biden had in 2020, according to the 2020 Presidential Exit Poll.&#8221;
&#8220;While Trump edges Harris among white voters, he falls short of the support he received among these voters in 2020,&#8221; the release noted. &#8220;Harris outpaces Trump among Black voters but fails to reach the support Biden received four years ago. The gender gap has narrowed to 12 points in Pennsylvania.&#8221;
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-fec-complaint-alleges-washington-post-illegally-boosted-kamala">announced that it had filed</a> a Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint against the Washington Post on Friday, accusing the publication of making “illegal corporate in-kind contributions to Harris for President.”
The FEC complaint cites a <a href="https://www.semafor.com/article/10/30/2024/washington-post-pays-to-boost-stories-critical-of-trump-as-subscribers-flee">Semafor report on how the Washington Post pays to boost stories</a> “critical of Trump as subscribers flee,” a story that mentions how the Washington Post “aggressively ramped up its paid advertising campaign, boosting dozens of articles related to the election,” starting Monday, Oct. 28.
The Post was boosting generally positive stories about Kamala Harris, the report says.
“The facts support a reasonable inference that The Washington Post made, and Harris for President accepted, an illegal corporate contribution in the form of coordinated communications,” <a href="https://prod-static.gop.com/media/documents/DJTFP_Complaint_10-31-24_WaPo_Corporate_Contribution_1730472578.pdf">the complaint states</a>. “Therefore, the Commission should find reason to believe a violation has occurred, conduct an immediate investigation, and assess an appropriate sanction for this corporate interference in our elections.”

Former President Donald Trump celebrated yet another Catholic feast day in a social media post on Friday.
The Republican presidential nominee posted an image of Jesus Christ on the cross, surrounded by saints, angels, Saint John the Apostle, and Mary, Jesus Christ&#8217;s mother, in celebration of All Saints Day. The feast day is one of six &#8220;holy days of obligation&#8221; celebrated by the Catholic Church, days on which all Catholics are supposed to attend Mass.

Polling <a href="https://www.ncronline.org/news/catholic-voters-favor-trump-most-battleground-states-according-new-ncr-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">conducted by the National Catholic Reporter</a> released in late October found that Trump was leading Harris among Catholic voters in the crucial swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Fifty percent of respondents said that they would “probably” or “definitely” vote for Trump, asked who they would vote for if the election took place that day, and 45% said they would “probably” or “definitely” vote for Harris.
The image also includes a depiction of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who Trump posted about in September. Our Lady of Guadalupe is particularly significant for Catholics in Mexico, where an Aztec man named Juan Diego <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/saint/st-juan-diego-409" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said that Mary appeared to him</a> several times in visions in 1531. Mary purportedly asked in these visions that a shrine be built to her on Tepayac Hill, now a suburb of Mexico City.

Former President Donald Trump plans to hold Vice President Kamala Harris accountable for President Joe Biden&#8217;s &#8220;nightmare&#8221; administration at Tuesday&#8217;s presidential debate, Trump advisers said Monday.
Trump senior adviser Jason Miller, joined by Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, discussed Trump&#8217;s debate strategy on a call with reporters Monday afternoon.
Trump will focus on communicating his own &#8220;record of success&#8221; and highlighting how the Biden-Harris administration has &#8220;broken this country&#8221; when he takes the debate stage in Philadelphia, Miller said. Gaetz pointed out that the &#8220;stakes are higher&#8221; for Harris since she has not been taking questions from the media, instead remaining &#8220;wrapped in bubble wrap since securing the nomination.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s very clear that Kamala Harris is the one who&#8217;s been running the country the entire time,&#8221; Miller said. &#8220;You can&#8217;t talk about turning the page when you&#8217;re the one who created our current nightmare. You just can&#8217;t.&#8221;
As &#8220;Border Czar,&#8221; Miller said, Harris is responsible for the ongoing border crisis. He highlighted her deciding vote for two stimulus bills &#8220;which led to sky-high inflation,&#8221; and noted that she boasted about being the last person in the room before Biden carried out the &#8220;disastrous&#8221; Afghanistan withdrawal.
He also referenced the Biden-Harris administration&#8217;s response to the Maui wildfires, the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment, and more.
&#8220;Every single one of these disasters are on Kamala Harris.&#8221;
&#8220;I would expect there&#8217;ll be some surprises during the debate tomorrow,&#8221; he added.

Miller also suggested that Harris struggles to defend her own record and will likely struggle even more to defend the records of others.
&#8220;Harris owns everything from this administration, and I will tell you, that President Trump pays attention to everything.&#8221;
Gaetz stressed that Harris will do her best to separate herself from Biden and his record. The Florida congressman also pointed out that Harris is &#8220;not some new arrival in American politics,&#8221; before listing off her &#8220;dangerously liberal&#8221; record on crime, progressive prosecutors, the border, and more.
Gabbard similarly critiqued Harris&#8217;s record on foreign policy, calling Harris&#8217;s decisions &#8220;disastrous&#8221; and accusing her of embroiling the United States in &#8220;wars spanning three continents.&#8221;
&#8220;She&#8217;s shown how little she values the relationship with Israel through her actions,&#8221; Gabbard said, noting that Harris skipped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu&#8217;s joint address to Congress and critiquing Harris for going &#8220;back and forth&#8221; on the question of enacting an arms embargo against Israel as the country seeks to defeat Hamas.
Gabbard referenced the attempted terrorist attack that American authorities uncovered days before the anniversary of 9/11.
&#8220;Kamala Harris refuses to use the term &#8216;radical Islamist terrorism,&#8217; which begs the question, how can the American people actually trust her to defeat this threat that is still ever present ideologically and militarily if she doesn&#8217;t understand it and refuses to identify it?&#8221; Gabbard asked. &#8220;You can&#8217;t.&#8221;
Harris, meanwhile, has spent the last week in a Pittsburgh hotel preparing for the debate in &#8220;highly choreographed debate practice sessions&#8221; with an adviser who is not only acting like Trump, but dressed like him, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/07/us/politics/trump-harris-debate-prep.html">according to The New York Times</a>.
The Times reports that Harris will try to portray Trump as a rich, &#8220;stale old act&#8221; who is focused only on helping the wealthy. Rather than tell voters that Trump is evil, Harris will reportedly try to win over undecided voters who are concerned about the economy and want to hear from both Trump and Harris on how the candidates will improve Americans&#8217; lives.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said during an interview this week that she believes this week&#8217;s presidential debate is going to be more important for Vice President Kamala Harris than former President Donald Trump because Harris has avoided answering questions and sitting down for interviews.
Sanders made the remarks during a Sunday interview on ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week&#8221; while discussing how Trump is preparing for Tuesday&#8217;s debate.
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s actually more important for Vice President Harris, somebody who doesn&#8217;t speak to the media, doesn&#8217;t take questions &#8212; in fact, at the end of this interview, I will have done more interviews during this election cycle than she has since becoming the Democrat nominee for president,&#8221; Sanders said.
She continued, &#8220;It is absurd that she does not take questions from the press, from the American people, and so I think this is actually a much more important night for her because it&#8217;s so rare that we hear from her, that we hear her take questions, or that we know anything that she actually stands for.&#8221;
Sanders said that Trump has been preparing every day for the debate throughout the entire campaign cycle because he travels around the country, talks to voters, and answers media questions often.

This is not something that is a heavy lift for him,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;I think that&#8217;s why you&#8217;re hearing so much about the preparation for Vice President Harris because this isn&#8217;t something she does very often, and I think she has a lot to get ready for, and I don&#8217;t think that she&#8217;s up to the challenge, in large part, not just because I don&#8217;t know that she&#8217;s a great debater, but she&#8217;s so wrong on the issues that Americans care about, and she has a terrible track record to talk about.&#8221;
Sanders said that Trump will enter the debate from a position of strength because of his record as president while Harris has been tied to foreign policy disasters, the inflation crisis, and the border crisis.

Former President Donald Trump celebrated the birthday of Mary, venerated by Christians as the mother of Jesus Christ, in a TruthSocial post Sunday.
&#8220;Happy Birthday Mary!&#8221; the presidential candidate posted on his social media platform, alongside a photo of &#8220;Our Lady of Guadalupe.&#8221;
The image bears particular significance to Catholics in Mexico, where an Aztec man named Juan Diego <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/saint/st-juan-diego-409">said that Mary appeared to him</a> several times in visions in 1531. Mary purportedly asked in these visions that a shrine be built to her on Tepayac Hill, which is now a suburb of Mexico City.
When Diego went to his bishop and relayed the message, <a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/Our-Lady-of-Guadalupe-patron-saint-of-Mexico">according to Britannica</a>, the bishop asked for a sign that he should do so. Diego is said to have returned to meet with the bishop after another meeting with Mary where she encouraged him to go out and gather roses. When he returned to the bishop and opened his cloak, or &#8220;tilma,&#8221; dozens of roses reportedly fell to the floor and revealed an image of Mary imprinted on his tilma.
That image is the one that Trump shared on Sunday, and it is venerated by pilgrims inside the Basilica of Guadalupe. Catholics hold the image to be a miracle, and a sign of Mary&#8217;s love and protection for the Americas: the late Pope John Paul II <a href="https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/homily-canonization-mass-of-blessed-juan-diego-8262">canonized</a> Diego in August 2002 and <a href="https://www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/homilies/1999/documents/hf_jp-ii_hom_19990123_mexico-guadalupe.html">declared</a> Our Lady of Guadalupe to be the Marian heart of America in a homily in 1999.
Trump&#8217;s post in honor of <a href="https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/seasons-and-feast-days/nativity-of-mary-21252">Mary&#8217;s birthday</a> comes only days after he announced “Catholics for Trump”, a coalition that his campaign describes as committed to &#8220;safeguarding the vital principles of religious liberty and defending family values.&#8221;

Polling <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/259119/ewtn-newsrealclear-opinion-research-poll-harris-leads-trump-among-catholic-voters">released this week</a> from EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research conducted between August 28 to August 30 found that Vice President Kamala Harris is currently leading Trump among Catholic voters: Harris is supported by 50% of Catholic voters while Trump is supported by 43%, the polling found, while 6% of Catholic voters are undecided.
Prominent Catholic conservatives have warned that another Harris administration could prove dangerous to Catholic&#8217;s religious liberties.
