President Donald Trump took a playful jab at Secretary of State Marco Rubio even as he praised his top diplomat for helping to secure the historic deal — between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group Hamas — under which all remaining living hostages were finally freed on Monday.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has reportedly directed the creation of a grand jury investigation into allegations that former President Barack Obama and his team sought to gin up intelligence to create a narrative of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
Fox News <a href="https://x.com/townhallcom/status/1952460815774441677" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed</a> Bondi signed a one-page order on Monday instructing a federal prosecutor, who was not identified, to take evidence to a grand jury. A Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/doj-launching-grand-jury-investigation-russiagate-conspiracy-allegations-source" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the news outlet the attorney general is taking a Russiagate criminal referral sent by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard &#8220;very seriously&#8221; and believes there is a &#8220;clear cause for deep concern.&#8221;

A DOJ spokesperson declined to comment when The Daily Wire reached out, seeking comment on the report from Fox News. It had been known that Bondi previously had initiated a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/justice-department-to-form-strike-force-to-assess-weaponization-of-intel-community" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“strike force”</a> tasked with evaluating the evidence relating to the Obama administration’s efforts to drive the Russia collusion allegations in response to various documents that were being disclosed to the public.
Just who might be named in the criminal referral was not clear as of press time, but Gabbard and now-President Donald Trump have been heavily critical of people such as Obama, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper over the creation of an intelligence assessment released in early 2017 and the &#8220;Crossfire Hurricane&#8221; FBI investigation into alleged Russia collusion.
“There’s no question in my mind that this intelligence community assessment that President Obama ordered be published, which contained a manufactured intelligence document — it’s worse than even politicization of intelligence,” Gabbard told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in a &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6375881194112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> that aired last month. “It was manufactured intelligence that sought to achieve President Obama and his team’s objective, which was undermining President Trump’s presidency and subverting the will of the American people.”
Fox News reported that no charges or indictments have been filed as of Monday afternoon. The news outlet also emphasized how details of the grand jury, including where it is located and who may appear before it, were shrouded in secrecy.
Obama has <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/30/opinion/trump-obama-treason-russia-miller.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed back</a> on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/obama-denies-bizarre-trump-claims-of-2016-election-hoax" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a> that his administration abused intelligence.
Patrick Rodenbush, a spokesperson for Obama, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/obama-denies-bizarre-trump-claims-of-2016-election-hoax" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a statement last month that said the &#8220;bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.&#8221;

Attorney General Pam Bondi has initiated a &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/justice-department-to-form-strike-force-to-assess-weaponization-of-intel-community" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strike force</a>&#8221; tasked with evaluating the evidence relating the Obama administration&#8217;s efforts to drive the Russia collusion allegations in response to various documents that are being disclosed to the public, such as findings that purportedly show officials <a href="https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/press-releases-2025/4090-pr-18-25" target="_blank" rel="noopener">manufactured and manipulated</a> intelligence regarding Russia to undermine Trump.
Miller, who contended that the country was placed at risk with the &#8220;entire security apparatus of this country focusing on the hoax,&#8221; said he has &#8220;every hope and expectation that the Department of Justice, under the leadership of our courageous attorney general, will follow these facts and follow the evidence and deliver justice.&#8221;
He added: &#8220;Because, if we have a country where we can continue to have FBI careerists and CIA careerists, deep staters, who will fabricate and doctor evidence, who will create and produce fake material, fabricated material, phony information to try to go after their political enemies, up to and including the president, if we continue to create the impression and the reality that there is not a criminal, a severe criminal penalty for such conduct, it will never stop. It will never desist. It will keep on going forever. Topline: Newly declassified documents from the Durham report, released by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Thursday, suggest the Obama-era FBI ignored intelligence that Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign approved a plan to tie Donald Trump to Russia to distract from her email server scandal.
The declassified annex shows the Obama administration received intelligence in 2016 that Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to smear her rival Donald Trump by linking him to Russia. The goal was reportedly to derail the FBI’s investigation into her unauthorized use of a private email server. The plan allegedly involved Clinton’s campaign, the DNC, and the firm Fusion GPS hiring former British spy Christopher Steele to create the narrative.
According to the documents, high-ranking Obama officials were made aware of the Clinton plan. CIA Director John Brennan briefed President Obama, Vice President Biden, DNI James Clapper, and FBI Director James Comey on the matter in a White House meeting on August 3, 2016. The CIA later sent an investigative referral to the FBI about the &#8220;purported Clinton campaign plan.&#8221;
In a heavily redacted section, the annex reveals that the CIA prepared a written assessment in 2017 and &#8220;did not assess &#8230; the &#8230; memoranda &#8230; to be the product of Russian fabrications.&#8221; In other words, the agency found the intelligence regarding the Clinton plan to be credible. CIA Director John Ratcliffe said that he has made criminal referrals to the Department of Justice. In a statement, Senator Grassley called the affair &#8220;one of the biggest political scandals and cover-ups in American history.&#8221;

Topline: The White House updated its tariff plan on Thursday evening, hours before President Trump’s deadline for new trade agreements was set to kick in.
The new <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/07/further-modifying-the-reciprocal-tariff-rates/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plan</a> pushes the implementation of tariffs on most countries back a week from August 1 to August 7 to give Customs and Border Patrol officials time to adjust to the new levies leveled at dozens of countries. The new plan also reveals a host of tariff rates that are set to kick in.
India will now be hit with a 25% tariff, plus an additional secondary tariff for continuing to buy Russian oil. &#8220;I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care,&#8221; Trump wrote on Truth Social. The move prompted Indian state refiners to pause all purchases of Russian oil.
Earlier this week, Brazil was hit with sanctions and a 50% tariff, the largest of all, due to its large trade deficit and what Trump calls the political persecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro. Trump&#8217;s new plan hits Brazil with a 10% so-called reciprocal tariff, which appears to be in addition to the 50% tariff that the president previously announced.
Canada, America’s second-largest trading partner, now faces a 35% tariff that took effect at midnight on August 1. The president linked the failure to secure a deal with Canada&#8217;s recent announcement that it would back a Palestinian state.
There were also several deals made as Trump&#8217;s August 1 deadline approached. The U.S. finalized a major agreement with South Korea, which includes a 15% tariff on Korean imports in exchange for a $350 billion investment in American businesses and the purchase of an additional $100 billion in natural gas. A deal was also reached with Pakistan.
Mexico was granted an extension as negotiations continue, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/07/29/us-china-trade-00481958">said</a> earlier this week that an August 12 extension for trade talks with China was likely.

The declassified <a href="https://www.grassley.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/declassified_durham_annex_released_by_chairman_grassley.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">annex</a>, which still contains some redactions, spoke of how the FBI received information detailing a plan that Clinton purportedly approved to use firms to spread disinformation through media, expecting the bureau to &#8220;put more oil into the fire&#8221; and distract from her email scandal. Durham also wrote how it seemed the FBI &#8220;dismissed&#8221; the intelligence as &#8220;not credible without any investigative steps actually having been taken to either corroborate or disprove the allegations.”

Newly declassified intelligence documents released Thursday revealed Hillary Clinton personally approved a campaign plan to &#8220;smear&#8221; then-candidate Donald Trump with false Russian collusion claims to distract from her email scandal during the 2016 presidential race.
Special counsel John Durham uncovered the information during his multi-year investigation into intelligence activities during the 2016 election.
The <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/895553887/Declassified-Durham-Annex-Released-by-Chairman-Grassley#download&amp;from_embed">intelligence</a>, released Monday by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), came from two memos obtained by the Obama administration containing &#8220;confidential conversations&#8221; between members of the DNC and George Soros&#8217;s Open Society Foundations before the 2016 election.
According to the declassified files, Clinton personally approved a plan proposed by her foreign policy advisor, Julianne Smith, to &#8220;smear Donald Trump by magnifying the scandal tied to the intrusion by the Russian special services in the pre-election process to benefit the Republican candidate.&#8221; Smith was later appointed to serve as Ambassador to NATO under President Joe Biden.
One stunning email written by Open Society Foundations Senior Vice President Leonard Bernardo, dated July 27, 2016, stated: &#8220;HRC [Hillary Clinton] approved Julia&#8217;s [sic] idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections. That should distract people from her own missing email, especially if the affair goes to the Olympic level.&#8221;
&#8220;The point is making the Russian play a U.S. domestic issue,&#8221; Bernado continued, adding, &#8220;In absence of direct evidence, Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect will supply the media, and GRU [Russia&#8217;s foreign intelligence arm] will hopefully carry on to give more facts.&#8221;
Durham’s team spoke with analysts and officers who assessed these emails were likely authentic. The special counsel&#8217;s team believe the emails, apparently from Benardo, were a &#8220;composite&#8221; of emails hacked by Russian intelligence from U.S. think tanks.
The Clinton campaign&#8217;s plan included &#8220;raising the theme of &#8216;Putin&#8217;s support for Trump'&#8221; and pushing public opinion to &#8220;equate&#8221; the Russian leader&#8217;s influence campaign with actual election infrastructure hacking. It also involved distributing &#8220;the necessary information through the FBI-affiliated … technical structures … in particular, the Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect companies, from where the information would then be disseminated through leading U.S. publications,&#8221; according to another email from Bernardo.
The email predicted that the FBI would &#8220;put more oil into the fire&#8221; of the Russia collusion narrative, with Obama even <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/31/us-news/hillary-clinton-approved-plan-hatched-by-campaign-aides-to-smear-trump-with-russia-collusion-declassified-docs/">considering</a> shutting down the bureau&#8217;s investigation into Clinton&#8217;s emails, according to the New York Post.
&#8220;Smith was, at minimum, playing a role in the Clinton campaign&#8217;s efforts to tie Trump to Russia,&#8221; Durham concluded.
Senator Chuck Grassley <a href="https://www.grassley.senate.gov/news/news-releases/newly-declassified-appendix-to-durham-report-sheds-additional-light-on-clinton-campaign-plan-to-falsely-tie-trump-to-russia-and-fbis-failure-to-investigate">said</a> in a statement: &#8220;Based on the Durham annex, the Obama FBI failed to adequately review and investigate intelligence reports showing the Clinton campaign may have been ginning up the fake Trump-Russia narrative for Clinton&#8217;s political gain, which was ultimately done through the Steele Dossier and other means.&#8221;
&#8220;The American people deserve the full, unfiltered truth about the Russia collusion hoax and the political abuse of our justice system it exposed,&#8221; FBI Director Kash Patel stated, characterizing it as &#8220;one of the most shameful frauds ever perpetrated on the American public.&#8221;

A newly declassified House investigation says that the Obama-era intelligence report that concluded Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to help President Donald Trump win the 2016 election was based on questionable information and violated intelligence gathering standards. 
The 2020 <a href="https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2025-07/House%20Intel%20Report%20-%20ICA.pdf">report</a> from the House Intelligence Committee, released Wednesday by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, raises significant questions about the integrity of the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) commissioned by President Barack Obama. 
&#8220;The judgment that Putin developed a &#8216;clear preference&#8217; for candidate Trump and &#8216;aspired to help his chances of victory&#8217; did not adhere to the tenets of the ICD (Intelligence Community Directive) analytical standards,&#8221; the House report found.
The declassification of the House report comes as Gabbard has been releasing documents she says demonstrate that the Obama administration suppressed intelligence showing that Russian meddling did not impact the results of the 2016 election. Gabbard has alleged that Obama officials engaged in a &#8220;treasonous conspiracy&#8221; to delegitimize the Trump presidency by relying on faulty evidence to tie him to Russia.
According to the newly released report, CIA Director John Brennan ordered three substandard intelligence reports to be published that became part of the foundation for the assessment that Putin favored Trump over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The intelligence community presented these reports as “reliable, without mentioning their significantly underlying flaws,” the House report found.
According to House investigators, the intelligence community&#8217;s claim that Putin “aspired” to help Trump win was based on “one scant, unclear, and unverifiable fragment of a sentence from one of the substandard reports.” A substandard report means that it included unclear information, was biased, came from an unclear origin, or was implausible. 
&#8220;The ICA ignored and selectively quoted reliable intelligence reports that challenged and in some cases undermined judgments that Putin sought to elect Trump,&#8221; the House report added. &#8220;The ICA failed to consider plausible alternative explanations of Putin&#8217;s intentions indicated by reliable intelligence and observed Russian actions.&#8221;
Investigators also found that the Obama intel assessment was rushed and written by just five CIA officers. It was published even though two senior CIA officials told Brennan that &#8220;we don’t have direct information that Putin wanted to get Trump elected,” according to the House report. 
The House report also found that the Obama assessment suppressed intel that Putin&#8221;preferred to see Secretary Clinton elected.&#8221;
Putin kept some material he had on Clinton in reserve, believing it could be useful if she were elected president, the report found. 
“By keeping the most damaging material on Clinton in reserve, Putin was not only demonstrating a clear lack of concern for Trump&#8217;s election fate, but conversely, his actions could also indicate that he preferred to see Secretary Clinton elected, knowing she would be a more vulnerable President than candidate Trump,” the House report said. “Moscow&#8217;s reserve of compromising materials would have given Putin leverage over a Clinton Administration, but not a Trump one.”
The House report did find that there was credible evidence that ordered cyber influence operations with the goals of undermining faith in the American election system and “to weaken what the Russians considered to be an inevitable Clinton presidency.” 
In recommendations included in the House report, lawmakers said that there should be greater peer review for intelligence reports, that political appointees should recuse themselves from involvement in such assessments during transition periods, and that analysis citing raw intelligence should be clearly labeled.
Gabbard has sent a criminal referral to the Justice Department over the new Russia-collusion document revelations.

They tried to rig an election, and then they got caught.&#8221;
Rodenbush denied that the document, ostensibly the one <a href="https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/press-releases-2025/4086-pr-15-25" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> by Gabbard, contradicted the findings of the Russia-focused intelligence assessment. He went on to mention the <a href="https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/2020/08/18/publications-report-select-committee-intelligence-united-states-senate-russian-active-measures/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">results</a> of an inquiry completed under the supervision of now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio when he was a GOP senator.
&#8220;Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes,&#8221; Rodenbush said. &#8220;These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.&#8221;

&#8220;Anybody who looks at the intelligence community assessment and the work that was done will see that it was very carefully worded, meticulously done, and it stands up to scrutiny,&#8221; Brennan said, adding that &#8220;there have been numerous reviews about it, and it didn’t say any of the things that Tulsi Gabbard alleges it said or didn’t say.&#8221;
The former CIA director also suggested that Gabbard is making &#8220;ludicrous&#8221; mischaracterizations of the intelligence community&#8217;s work, but is pushing them on social media in order to &#8220;gain some attention and ingratiate herself&#8221; with Trump.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has reportedly confirmed receipt of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard&#8217;s criminal referral regarding bombshell allegations that former President Barack Obama and his team sought to gin up intelligence to create a narrative of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/doj-receives-gabbards-criminal-referral-bombshell-claims-obama-admin-manufactured-russian-collusion-hoax" target="_blank" rel="noopener">broke the story</a> on Monday that the DOJ had acknowledged receipt of the referral. A DOJ spokesperson declined to comment when The Daily Wire reached out to confirm the development.
The report did not have any details on the exact contents of the referral. However, Gabbard and President Donald Trump have said Obama, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper were involved in the creation of the intelligence assessment released in early 2017.

More details are coming out concerning alleged efforts by former President Barack Obama and his team&#8217;s efforts to gin up intelligence to create a narrative of Russian interference in the 2016 election, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said on Sunday.
Gabbard, a former congresswoman from Hawaii who broke with the Democratic Party, made the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/obama-admin-suppressed-intel-showing-russia-didnt-impact-2016-election-tulsi-reveals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> on <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6375881194112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> after first disclosing last week what she dubbed a &#8220;treasonous conspiracy&#8221; by high-level Obama administration officials to undermine President Donald Trump&#8217;s first term.
&#8220;Next week, we will be releasing more detailed information about how exactly this took place and the extent to which this information was sought to be hidden from the American people, hidden from officials who would be in a position to do something about it,&#8221; Gabbard told &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; host Maria Bartiromo.
She added later, &#8220;Accountability is essential for the future of our country. For the American people to have any sense of trust in the integrity of our democratic republic, accountability, action, prosecution, indictments for those who are responsible for trying to steal our democracy is essential for us to make sure that this never happens to our country again.&#8221;
In a <a href="https://x.com/DNIGabbard/status/1946271402971312514" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thread</a> posted to X on Friday, Gabbard shared clips of documents and contended that Obama directed his top intelligence officials to &#8220;create&#8221; a new intelligence assessment in December 2016 that contradicted prior analyses, after which they &#8220;leaned on their allies in the media to advance their falsehoods&#8221; and push the narrative that Russia &#8220;intervened to hack the election in Trump&#8217;s favor.&#8221;
Gabbard told Bartiromo that her team released 100 documents on Friday.
They &#8220;provide evidence of how this treasonous conspiracy was directed by President Obama just weeks before he was due to leave office after President Trump had already gotten elected,&#8221; she noted. Gabbard also said they were referring all the records to the Department of Justice and FBI for a criminal referral.
&#8220;So the effect of what President Obama and his senior national security team did was subvert the will of the American people, undermining our democratic republic, and enacting what would be essentially a years-long coup against President Trump, who was duly elected by the American people,&#8221; Gabbard declared.

But Gabbard said intelligence community whistleblowers are coming forward and pledged her team would do &#8220;all&#8221; they could to hold accountable those responsible for the &#8220;incredible lie&#8221; told to the American people.
Pressed on whether she expects indictments and prosecutions, Gabbard replied, &#8220;I&#8217;m not a lawyer. In my view, we have the evidence to be able to move forward and bring about justice, yes, to prosecute and indict those responsible.&#8221;
