Young NASCAR Star Hailie Deegan Says She Wants Trump To Sign Her Helmet. Don Jr. Steps In To Help.

When news was confirmed that President Donald Trump would be visiting the Dayton 500 on Sunday, eighteen-year-old up-and-coming NASCAR superstar Hailie Deegan said her “goal” was to have her driving helmet signed by the president.

With the help of Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the president, Deegan was able to get just that. Following the race, the NASCAR teen tweeted out a photo of the herself — Trump-signed helmet in hand — standing next to the president and First Lady Melania Trump, with the caption, “Goal Complete.”

“Remember, will be at Daytona 500 tomorrow!” President Trump announced Saturday. Deegan captioned the post via Twitter on Sunday, writing: “Today’s goal. Get my helmet signed by Trump.”

“[Direct Message]… I may know someone,” Don Jr. said to Deegan.

Later in the day, the eldest Trump son posted a photo of Deegan meeting his father and Mrs. Trump, as well as himself and girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle.

“Promises Made… Promises Kept! Great to meet you [Hailie Deegan],” Don Jr. wrote, adding the hashtags: “#Daytona #DAYTONA500.”

Deegan added a post of her own:

As noted by the Associated Press, Deegan was not slated to drive on Sunday. She “made her stock car debut at Daytona earlier this month, finishing second to Michael Self in the ARCA Series season opener on Feb. 8.”

“I think there’s that aspect of being a girl that does help,” Deegan said earlier this month, regarding her success. “But, once you get in the car, it don’t matter. No one knows. Most of the time I have the most aggressive-looking, guy-looking car on the track.”

President Trump served as grand marshal for the annual Dayton 500 race in Florida. As noted by The Daily Wire, Air Force One swooped over the track at an estimated 800 feet altitude before landing at the Daytona International Airport.

“I have been to a lot of Daytona 500s,” one NASCAR commentator said, “never have I felt the excitement and energy. We’ve got great racing on the track but we’ve got the president landing right now, the fans are pumped up, I mean, wow, what a day!”

“It’s one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen,” another commentator added. “They said that plane’s 800 feet above the racetrack right now. What an entrance by the president of the United States!”

As noted by Fox News, before the race, Trump addressed the cheering crowd, “The Daytona 500 is the legendary display of roaring engines, soaring spirits and the American skill, speed and power that we’ve been hearing about for so many years.”

“NASCAR fans never forget that no matter who wins the race, what matters most is God, family and country,” the president said, noting that NASCAR fans are “patriots.”

“Trump and Melania took a lap around the speedway in ‘The Beast’ after giving the command for racers to start their engines. Leading the pack of 40 racers, the lap in the 22,000-pound, Cadillac-branded limousine marked a historic first for any president,” Fox reported, noting that Trump “is only the second sitting president to attend the 500, behind President George W. Bush who issued the famous command in 2004, the year Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his first 500.”
