Paramount+ announced the addition of two A-listers to “1932,” the “Yellowstone” prequel, as they shared on Twitter that legends Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will join the cast.

“Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford will star in the highly anticipated next installment of the Yellowstone origin story from Taylor Sheridan coming to Paramount+,” the statement on social media read. “It will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”

There aren’t many other details available about the newest project in the popular series besides that it’s premiering in December 2022.

The original “Yellowstone” is country Western drama followed the lives of the Dutton family, owners of the largest ranch in Montana, and was a massive hit for Paramount+. Kevin Costner starred in the series as John Dutton.

The show’s popularity spurred the first spinoff, “1883,” which premiered in December 2021. Real-life husband and wife duo Faith Hill and Tim McGraw led the cast as James and Margaret Dutton.

Ford, 79, is best known for portraying Han Solo in the “Star Wars” franchise — and has starred in dozens of other big-name projects over the course of his decades-long career. He’s been nominated for an Academy Award and four Golden Globes.

British actress Mirren, 76, is the only performer to have earned the Triple Crown of Acting in both the United States and the United Kingdom. She won both an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 biographical drama “The Queen.”

In January, Meghan McCain wrote an opinion column expressing why she believed “Yellowstone” had become such a smashing success. McCain speculated that it was because the series celebrated old-fashioned values and wasn’t “woke.”

“The show isn’t woke, it isn’t trying to lecture anyone about everything that is wrong with our culture,” she wrote in part, as The Daily Wire previously reported. “It doesn’t portray the elitist perspective of coastal television writers and where they think America should be going.”

Some “Yellowstone” fans complained that more progressive storylines were being added to the show. “1883” received praise from fans for staying real and not pushing a political agenda. They’ll likely be watching to see if “1932” takes a similar approach.
