House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dominated the headlines following President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday after she, standing directly behind the president, ripped up his speech for all the world to see, later telling the press that she did so because it was a “dirty speech” and that shredding it was better than the “alternative.” Shortly after, the White House issued its official response to Pelosi’s viral moment.

“Speaker Pelosi just ripped up: One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. The survival of a child born at 21 weeks. The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller. A service member’s reunion with his family,” the White House tweeted. “That’s her legacy.”
