When Test Scores Drop, It’s Time For Real Education Reform

Parents deserve the opportunity to choose what’s best for their child.

Few things are more important than the education of our young people. 

That’s why, when the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) released the Nation’s Report Card earlier this week, I became concerned. Average scores among 8th and 12th grade students were lower across all three primary assessments — science, math, and reading. For example, only 22% of 12th graders were proficient at their level of mathematics and 35% were proficient at their level of reading.
