Last night, Late Show host and left-wing comedian Stephen Colbert brought back his alter ego from his Colbert Report days to mock conservatives. You can watch the full segment below:
First, he stated that it would take “a delusional egomaniac” to summarize Obama’s legacy in a few minutes before segueing to his satirical conservative alter ego, who arrived on the Late Show stage with a Captain America shield and sword.
Colbert subsequently mocked what the left believes were the arguments conservatives used against Obama, not his divisive racial politics, his appeasement to dictatorial regimes, or his abuse of executive power, but for being a “America-hating, secret-Muslim, lead-from-behind, terrorist fist-bumping hopey-changey apologist-in-chief.” His alter ego then talked about expanding the “killer drone program,” spying on American citizens, fattening the banks, and failing the close Guantanamo Bay as “successes” in the eyes of American conservatives. He also mocked Republicans for the birther movement that Hillary Clinton’s close ally Sidney Blumenthal started. Colbert continued with his charade for several more minutes.
Finally, Colbert’s alter ego ended his segment by saying, “Thanks, Obama.”
It is no secret that Colbert hates Trump, but his mockery of nearly half of the American population of Republicans, conservatives, and libertarians alike make him and his show unpopular. He appeals to the same progressives that made his signature Comedy Central show a hit on a primetime late night show instead of trying to find common cause with the rest of the American public.

His partisan views are abundantly clear, and while he has every right to project them to whomever he wishes, it does not help him in the long run to turn away people who are just as entitled to their beliefs as he is. This is part of the reason why the left lost and why Donald Trump is the President of United States today.
