On Monday night, Roseanne Barr sat down with late-night host Jimmy Fallon and addressed the backlash she’s received for coming out as a supporter of President Donald Trump. And Barr, as usual, was pretty blunt.
After noting the “Roseanne” reboot’s incredible success — over 27 million viewers tuned into the show’s debut — Fallon asked how Barr deals with the critics of her pro-Trump stance.
“Oh, yeah. Some people are mad about that,” she answered. “But, you know, I don’t give a f***.”
The comedic TV star explained that she would never put down someone for voting a certain way and expects the same courtesy back; this is America after all, she said.
“Well, everybody had to choose for themselves according to their own conscience who they thought was the lesser of two evils,” she explained. “You know, everybody chose that. So, I’m not gonna put anybody down who didn’t vote like me. This is America. It’s a free country. And, you know, when you weigh it all together, you know, I think — I just felt like we needed a whole new thing, all the way, bottom to top.”
At the end of March, ABC officially announced a green light for a second season of the reboot. “We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the ‘Roseanne’ team has in store for next year,” said ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey.
