With just 10 days left until the once great Catholic nation of Ireland votes on whether or not the killing of unborn children is a constitutional right, a Catholic priest has called upon the world to please pray that the forces of darkness will be defeated come May 25.
In a video posted to Youtube, Father Marius O’Reilly calls upon the faithful to do whatever they can in service of Ireland: pray the Rosary, hold Mass, pray at home with their families, anything at all.
At the start, O’Reilly recalls when Ireland first enacted the 8th Amendment in response to a visit from Pope John Paul II in 1979 when he called upon them to protect life.
“He knew what was coming down the road,” the priest says in his message. “And so the Irish people took this very seriously and rosary crusades began all around the country.”
On September 7, 1983, Ireland voted to add the 8th Amendment to the constitution after pro-lifers campaigned for the government to offer a referendum. Over 30 years later, the exact opposite has happened.
“This was an incredible gift from God for our country because it meant the politicians couldn’t just bring in abortion when they wanted,” says O’Reilly. “They would have to put it to the people.”
One important difference between now and 1983 is that one movement actually rose up from the people as a grassroots movement, whereas the upcoming referendum sprang from the “billions and billions” leftists like George Soros and other left-wing organizations have been “pumped” into Ireland over the years in an effort to overturn the 8th Amendment in conjunction with the U.N., the European Union, and various other international bodies. Irish media and Irish celebrities have all been more than willing to aid their deadly mission.
Father O’Reillly asks people to pray that God will “have mercy” on Ireland and protect them from the onslaught of abortion.
