Surrounded by a slew of reporters, democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was asked if she thought abortion clinics at Planned Parenthood were like concentration camps for unborn babies.
The question was asked in light of the elected Democrat’s remarks likening detention centers on the United States’ Souther border to WWII concentration camps.
“Congresswoman, do you think Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics are like concentration camps for fetuses?” a reporter asked AOC.
“Um, absolutely not, sir,” the 29-year-old told the reporter, apparently adding that the question was “kind of a crazy” thing to suggest.
Planned Parenthood operates over half of all abortion clinics in the United States, according to an American Life League (ALL) report based on data collected in December of 2018. The taxpayer-funded abortion giant kills an estimated 320,000 unborn babies a year — and the abortions can be brutal.
Dr. Anthony Levatino, a former abortionist, explained how a surgical (and most common) first-trimester abortion is performed on unborn babies 5-13 weeks gestation for pro-life group Live Action. An abortionist uses a speculum to open the woman and insert “dilators.” At this point, “the baby has a heartbeat, fingers, toes, arms, and legs, but its bones are still weak and fragile,” he notes. Then the abortionist takes a suction catheter, Levatino explains, and, with a suction force about 10-20 times more powerful than a household vacuum cleaner, sucks out the baby. Since pieces of the baby might still be left inside the woman’s uterus, the abortionist will then use a sharp curette to scrape out any left-over dead baby.
As abortions are performed later and later into a woman’s pregnancy, the procedure becomes even more barbaric, particularly since unborn babies can feel pain at around 20 weeks. In second-trimester abortions, for example, babies are dismembered in the womb and taken out piece-by-piece; abortionists have to literally piece the dead baby together on their tables to be sure they don’t leave, say, an arm, inside the mother. And late-term abortions kill the baby by injection (triggering cardiac arrest) so the mother can essentially give birth to a stillborn — and that’s barring any complications.
During an Instagram story posted on June 17, Ocasio-Cortez told her followers the government is “running concentration camps on our southern border,” according to Fox News.
“That is exactly what they are. They are concentration camps,” the freshman congresswoman said. She went on to say that she wants to talk to people “who are concerned enough with humanity to say that ‘never again’ means something,” a reference to the Holocaust.
“The fact that concentrations camps are now an institutionalized practice in the Home of the Free is extraordinarily disturbing and we need to do something about it,” she added.
Though actual Holocaust survivors have condemned Ms. Ocasio-Cortez for the troubling comments, the Democrat has only doubled-down on her remarks and refused to accept offers to tour concentration camp sites.
