Nickelodeon’s news show for kids recently lectured the channel’s young viewers about the “meaning of environmental racism.”

Nick News, a program that ran from 1992 to 2015 before being revamped in 2020, listed a number of cities with environmental issues. Host Jamie Yuccas said, “What do these cities have in common? They’re all examples of environmental racism, a form of systemic racism where minority and low-income communities are surrounded by health hazards because they live near sewage, mines, landfills, power stations, major roads.”

“In Philadelphia, it’s hazardous waste,” continued Yuccas, who also works for CBS News. “In San Carlos, Arizona, it’s a mining project that would dishonor an Apache sacred site. But it has never been more devastating and harmful than in Duplin, North Carolina, where believe it or not, the number of hogs outnumber the number of residents.”

Nick News spoke to a Duplin County, North Carolina, resident named Fionia who claimed that the number of hog farms in her area is a product of environmental racism. “Growing up in Duplin County, we would go outside and play with our friends and our cousins, whoever lived in our community,” she said. “But sometimes the air quality would be so bad to the point where we would have to strictly play in the house, and that was due to the hog farms spraying feces in the fields.”

“What the hogs do is they use the bathroom and it’s mixed in with a certain water. It is sprayed in all of the fields in order to grow crops for food. It gets into our pipelines to where our water turns a different color. It can be anywhere from a rusty brown to a pink. Going to school, you would be very self-conscious because of the smell. Whenever you walk down the road and the wind is up high, you can feel it. It’s like a shower on your skin and it’s full of feces.”

Fiona went on to allege that companies place their hog farms in areas that are predominantly black or Hispanic. “People are afraid to speak up because they don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them,” she said.

Nick News went on to cover copper mining companies that are allegedly attempting to desecrate sacred indigenous Apache land in Arizona.

Nickelodeon has pushed a left-wing agenda on its young audience before. As The Daily Wire reported earlier this month:

Nickelodeon star Michael D. Cohen issued a message to children earlier this week urging them to celebrate friends who exhibit transgender behavior.

“It’s really important to celebrate International Trans Day of Visibility,” Cohen told young viewers Wednesday. “Because the more the world understands, is aware of, and supports people of trans experience, the more empowered this community will be to have our rights and to have what we deserve and to be equal like everybody else.”

“I’m proud to be a part of the trans community because we are united by a common pursuit of our own personal truth,” continued Cohen, who played a character named Schwoz in the show “Henry Danger,” which aired from 2014 to 2020. “There are most likely people of trans experience in your school, your community, friends, family. You can support them by standing up against bullying, cheering them on as they express themselves.”

“Be true to yourself as you are,” Cohen concluded. “You’re really important. Don’t compromise. And believe in your dreams. Know that you have people like myself and other people in this community that are behind you, that support you, and believe in you.”
