Tim Allen gets the last laugh against the network that inexplicably canceled his show in the teaser trailer for the new rendition of “Last Man Standing.”
When the Disney-affiliated ABC announced it would be canceling the hit show “Last Man Standing” despite its consistently strong ratings, fans were left scratching their heads while conservatives were left crying foul. As John Nolte reported at the time, the cancelation made absolutely no sense, leaving one to conclude that ABC canceled the show due to its openly pro-conservative themes and Tim Allen’s outspoken conservative views.
Well, that’s all water under the bridge now. After a long-fought war to give “Last Man Standing” a new home, the show will return this fall on Fox, and Allen has made sure to address the big elephant in the room straight out of the gate: being jilted by ABC.
In the teaser trailer, Allen and actress Nancy Travis, who plays his wife Vanessa on the show, warm by an open fire in the great outdoors until suddenly Vanessa abruptly announces, “Look at that! Look! It’s a fox!”
Allen promptly asks her to say it again three times. “I’m sorry I didn’t hear you. What is that?” he asks. Holding her laugh, Travis replies, “A fox!”
At that moment, Allen smiles to the camera and says, “I know somebody’s gonna be happy you said that three times.”
Take that, ABC.
