WATCH: Elizabeth Warren Tells Colbert She Doesn’t Trust Barr’s Mueller Summary

Democrats are beginning to play the conspiracy card by suggesting that Attorney General William Barr somehow engaged in a cover-up when summarizing special counsel Robert Mueller’s submitted report that exonerates the president of Russian “collusion” allegations.

According to Fox News, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) appeared on Stephen Colbert Monday night, where she expressed skepticism regarding Barr’s summary of Mueller’s report. When Colbert asked her if she trusted the report, she simply replied, “No.”

“And you shouldn’t have to ask me if I trust it,” she emphatically told the late-night host. “We should see the whole report. When we see the whole report, we’ll know what the basis is for this, period.”

“What would be in there that you think would be actionable? Have you seen anything in the filings that Mueller has made?” Colbert shot back.

“This is the point, we just want to see the whole report,” she replied.

Of course, Warren’s expressed skepticism may be simple rhetoric to satisfy her progressive base; she soon admitted to Colbert that voters care little about the Russian “collusion” narrative that Democrats have pounded for two years.

“Look, I spent the last couple of days in New Hampshire, I did a bunch of big public events, I took about 30 questions, just unfiltered from anybody, and then did long lines afterwards where I talked to people — probably altogether over the weekend got maybe 100 questions,” she told Colbert.

“Do you know how many were about the Mueller report? Zero. Because what people were asking about were the things that touch their lives every day,” she continued.

With that, Colbert asked Warren if the Mueller report was more of a Washington obsession than a voter obsession. She deflected back on to the issue of voter concerns.

“It’s important,” she said. “But as you say, there are a lot of other investigations going on. But what people are focused on is what’s happening in their lives and what is going to help us decide what kind of country we are going to be going forward. Are we going to be a country that continues to work for people who are richer and richer and not work for anyone else? Or are we actually going to be a country that pulls that back and says no? We believe that our government and our country can be made to work for all of us.”

Indeed, according to several midterm exit polls conducted by various outlets in November of last year, Russian “collusion” appeared nowhere near voters’ radars. Of the top issues, 41% of voters were concerned mostly about healthcare, another 23% cared mostly about immigration reform, followed closely by 21% concerned about the economy. Voters concerned about Russian “collusion” did not even amount to 1%.

“The CNN poll was able to measure how voters feel about the probe being run by special counsel Robert Mueller,” reported The Daily Wire’s Joseph Curl at the time. “A majority (54%) viewed the Russia investigation as ‘politically motivated.’ Just 41% disagreed. And a plurality (46%) disapproved of Mueller’s handling of it, while 42% approved. In other recent polls, NBC News found only 42% of voters approve of Mueller’s handling, while 45% disapprove. What’s more, only 61% of Democrats approve of Mueller. And a CBS News poll found that 53% think the Russia investigation is politically motivated, with only 44% saying it is justified.”
