Video of the closing statement by the Democratic impeachment managers at the Senate trial on Thursday has generated some headlines and a lot of online hilarity and mockery from the right, including President Trump.

The clip appears to show House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) obstinately taking it upon himself to have the final word in the trial Thursday, while fellow impeachment manager House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) tries in vain to stop him.

Among the sites that picked up on the moment is Townhall, which tweeted out the video and provided some context for the “hilarious” moment. “Rep. Jerry Nadler raced to the podium Thursday after Chief Justice John Roberts read the last question  before adjourning for the evening, blowing past House impeachment manager Rep. Adam Schiff who attempted to stop him,” Townhall’s Leah Barkoukis reported Thursday.

Nadler’s furious rush to the podium was prompted by Chief Justice Roberts asking the Democratic impeachment managers, “Could you please respond to the answer just given by the president’s counsel and provide any other comments the Senate would benefit from hearing before we adjourn for the evening?”

In response, a determined Nadler stormed up to the podium, while Schiff pleaded, “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry,” as he stepped toward his colleague, who paid him no heed.

As a jilted Schiff stood there for a few seconds in the middle of the floor, Nadler, who never even looked back at his fellow manager, began to deliver his statement. “Chief Justice, members of the Senate,” said Nadler. “We’ve just heard from the House — from the President’s counsel is the usual nonsense…”

Video of the moment was tweeted out by Townhall’s Julio Rosas and rapidly racked up over a million views:

Among those who commented on the video was President Trump, who framed the incident as evidence of a growing conflict between the two Democratic leaders.

“Nadler ripped final argument away from Schiff, thinks Shifty did a terrible job,” Trump tweeted in response to Rosas’ post. “They are fighting big time!”

Twitchy also reported on the moment and highlighted a few amused responses, including from NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck, who tweeted out a clip of the exchange, writing, “LMAO wait — did Adam Schiff just get up to try and answer this question, but Jerry Nadler beat him to it?”

According to multiple reports, Republicans believe they now have the votes to block the Democrats’ attempt to force the calling of additional impeachment witnesses.

“Senate does not appear to have the votes to open the door to witnesses tomorrow night,” Fox News’ Chad Pergram reported Thursday. “[Sens. Susan] Collins and [Mitt] Romney for witnesses. [Sen. Lamar] Alexander opposed. Even if [Sen. Lisa] Murkowski is a yes, they don’t have the votes. 50-50 vote is a tie, which by rule, fails.”

Sen. Alexander, considered one of the potential Republican “swing votes,” announced Thursday that he will vote against calling more witnesses.

“I worked with other senators to make sure that we have the right to ask for more documents and witnesses, but there is no need for more evidence to prove something that has already been proven and that does not meet the U.S. Constitution’s high bar for an impeachable offense,” said the senator. “There is no need for more evidence to prove that the president asked Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter; he said this on television on October 3, 2019, and during his July 25, 2019, telephone call with the president of Ukraine.”
